Best Young Woman Job Book (2024 Updated)

Loving this book. Ordered from an Ebay seller so I would not have to wait months to read it. Caitlin Moran is wonderfully witty and smart. She pulls no punches and tells it exactly as she sees it in a well rounded and well thought out way.

Reading this book feels like talking to an old friend. She takes the ideas of Brazilians and uncomfortable shoes and shows how silly and completely unnecessary they really are. This copy is destined to be well read and crumpled from much handling.

She has redefined and refreshed the old term Feminism and shown it in a new light that makes being a feminist a good thing. Bless this women for such a wonderful, candid book.

This is a great big hoot of a book. There are lines in it that will make you snort with laughter, situations so true to life that you will howl in recognition. It is very, very funny. So, you could read it just for that, for the entertainment value.

If you are female, and particularly if you are a female under 30, then, tucked around the jokes, Moran has provided you with a short, sharp, feminist manifesto. It’s not academic: she doesn’t present a research paper into gender differences in pay or interview women who have suffered domestic abuse.

Instead, she uses her own life to examine the everyday niggles of everyday womanhood.

I loved this book. Besides being clever and funny, Caitlin Moran is amazingly kind. She shows herself as one of us but is able to write about it intelligently and with great humour. She unpacks issues that have confounded me over the years or that I haven’t understood and offers a dose of good commonsense as the way to get by.

I smile every time I think of this book.

The book was pretentious. I was hoping for more humor and creativity, less snobbery and rarified air. Also-the book arrived with damaged corners.

A wonderful read. I’ve opened it time and time again and still love it. Full of inspiration.

Ms. Turner uses very helpful illustrations and applications drawn from her own personal experience that are instantly relatable and authentic. I especially loved the 5 Principles of Resilience: Resilience is the antidote to rejection and the 10 steps to becoming a better problem solvera skill needed to succeed in the workplace today.

As a mom, with a son getting a masters degree and almost ready to graduate, I am thankful for all the wisdom packed in this easy-to-read book. I cannot wait to see how it will impact him and those like him, who will be entering the job market with far more challenges than I have ever encountered.

Crush Your Career will be my new choice for a graduation gift to family and friends and a resource to give new employees just starting their career and those just stepping into a leadership role. Personally, I know I will use it again and again even as I enter the last five years of my own career.

As a college student, I often find myself getting a bunch of information about how to succeed in the real world. Some things make a little more sense than others, but I still had some uncertainty when it comes to the big questions of after graduation.

It wasn’t until I read Crush your Career, that I had all those questions answered. Like I mentioned, college students get the surface level information of the practical things we need to learn about when it comes to interviews, making those connections in the workplace, and continuing on a path of success once you’ve obtained the job, but Dee Ann broke all those things down step by step.

Dee Ann Turner applies her years of wisdom into one singular book I can continue to reference as I begin my career. This book is not just for younger adults fresh out of college but can be utilized by anyone! I enjoy how Dee Ann uses her personal stories and experience to apply the material she is teaching so that the reader can better understand.

Dee Ann added a feature into this book that I have never seen before. She actually challenges the reader at the end of each chapter to reflect on themselves. As a current college student looking for internships and entry position jobs, this book provided me with excellent information that will set me apart from my fellow peers.

From cover to cover, I feel like this book that the reader should fully digest and may even read a couple times to not forget any information. I enjoyed everything this book had to offer and I am excited to apply the information in this book as I begin my career.

I saw an ad for this book on Facebook and immediately thought it would be a great baby shower gift. Once it came in I was so happy with my purchase. It’s great quality and the illustrations are adorable.

The message these books send is even greater, all types of people are included!.

Disappointed, I ordered these books months ago. You attempted to deliver them and the box was empty. Now my gift is suppose to be delivered in may! I don’t think I would recommend this company with the service I have received.

I’m embarrassed that I ordered this for a baby gift and disappointed she still hasn’t received it:(.

My husband received three Legends Alphabet books that I signed from our daughter for his first Father’s Day. It is so special that when reading these books together he can share some of his favorite things with her.

The quality of the book is fine. It’s a large size with sturdy cardboard pages which is great for little fingers still working on dexterity. My 2 year old likes it quite a bit. But I’m very disappointed by some of the choices the author made.

With so many accomplished and worthy women to choose from, I was shocked to find a documented WWII German spy being celebrated by this book. The diversity of women represented could also have been greater.

While Black, Native, and Asian women are included, this book features mostly white heroines and no Latina or Pacific Islander representation at all. If you’re looking for true diversity and not just lip service to the greatness of women, skip this book for your kiddos.

This book could have been great. I give it 2 stars instead of 1 because I think the intent is great – to lift women up and show young girls how powerful they and others like them can be. But the context of several of the women in the book is lacking or non existent.

Literally nonexistent: D is for Dorothy Hodgkin (who as an adult, I’ve never heard of and would love to learn more about) but all the book says about her is that she’s “a crystallographer who won the Nobel Prize for succeeding in the impossible.

” How vague, boring, and unhelpful. What’s the point of this? There are several instances like this in this book. I had to return it. ***Also – this isn’t hardcover – it’s a board book. Had I known it was a board book, I wouldn’t have purchased in the first place.

The listing should be changed to accurately describe it!.

I really like this book. It has a message of empowerment and points out strong women from our society, both from the past and present. I only have 2 complaints: 1) A few of the women featured do not have quotes like the majority of the book features for the rest of the women and 2) V is for Venus (not the tennis player, the goddess), and is the only woman featured that isn’t a real person.

I still think this is a really good book though.

Death. Dark beings living in the sewers of San Francisco. Hellhounds. These are just a few of the things that are ruining Charlie Asher’s life. Good thing for us that we get to enjoy all of the ensuing chaos, courtesy of one of the most underrated authors of our time.

If you are a fan of the macabre, and have a delightfully twisted sense of humor, then you will love this book. If not, then I’m sorry, but there is no way that we can be friends.

I have to force myself to close the book at midnight. So much fun, and I Iike the domestic setting. I have read Practical Demon Keeping which was a different read but enjoyable, and have ordered Fluke, which I am sure will not disappoint.

When Rachel delivers their first child, Sophie, Charlie’s life seems complete. for a moment. While still adapting to his new life as a father, he loses Rachel to a “cerebral thromboembolism. ” Matters are complicated when Charlie sees Minty Fresh, a used-music dealer who moonlights as a “Death Merchant,” collect Rachel’s “soul vessel.

” And now Charlie, thanks to his ability to see Fresh snapping up his wife’s soul in her favorite CD, has been tapped for the same job. It is THEN that the narrative becomes hilariously bizarre. The remainder of the novel covers five years of Charlie’s life, during which time he intermittently raises Sophie as a single dad, performs his duties as a Death Merchant and attempts to thwart a trio of “sewer-dwelling harpies” out to undermine all human existence.

His efforts are aided by a motley crew: his two helpers at the junk store (Lily, a teenage Goth girl and Ray, a bachelor ex-cop fixated on mail-order brides); his obnoxious lesbian sister Jane; two hellhounds; and Audrey, a mystical young leader of the “squirrel people,” living beings formed of random, organic flotsam.

Much of the fun in Moore’s story resides in the quirky events and the sparkling vitality of his prose. Striking figures of speech (the Death Merchants are “secret agents of karma”) and aphorisms grace the text: “Everyone is happier, if they have someone to look down on, as well as someone to look up to, especially if they resent both.

” And the dialogue follows a zany illogic worthy of the Marx Brothers. Moore’s book benefits from paradoxes he cannily exploits. Nothing enhances Charlie’s life like death. “Until he became Death, he’d never felt so alive,” writes Moore.

Embracing what we fear enlarges our souls — until they can barely fit onto a compact disc. “A Dirty Job” gives the reader a great ride, albeit in a 1957 Cadillac hearse.

I love Lisa Bevere books and this one certainly was no different. It’s a book that reminds women how much the world needs us. That we’ve been born for such a time as this. And while comparison and competition is at an all time high with women, we need to remember that if we unite, we are an unstoppable force that can truly make a change.

We’ve been given much, it’s now time to pick up our sword and go to work.

It is a great book for learning how to pray the bible. I would recommend it to women of all ages but especially newer Christians.

Read this book in just a few days, wasnt sure it was the right book for me when i first started reading it but that quickly changed. I started to appreciate myself more and this helped me to feel more confident rather quickly.

I savored the words and digested them slowly because they were so rich and satisfying to my soul. The words my soul has been hungry to hear, I AM the girl for the job! Everything the author shares is rooted in Christ as she walks the reader on a faith-filled journey of discovery of God’s powerful truths and promises, and the tools He’s given us to accomplish the tasks He lays before us.

Jess Connolly discusses comparison, strengths and weaknesses, shame, self-doubt, defeat, fears, disbelief, and the messiness of our lives in a no-nonsense way which I love! She gets to the heart of the matter, the crucial truths we all need to hear.

I loved this amazing book and I am confident that countless lives will be transformed by the messages within. Women need to believe and live out the truth that we are the girls for the job, appointed by Jesus, for His glory! We are who God says we are.

I love the book content! That is the primary reason for the high review. However, I do not like the app you are required to use for the digital purchase. It is fairly glitchy and I wish you could use your digital reader app of choice.

If you were told prior to purchase that a certain app was required, I missed it and it should be more prominent. I also dislike that the study was advertised as free and only later were you informed if you took the free option you would not have all the materials.

I would have been happy to pay upfront, but was mis-informed. By the time I realized this, it was too late to have a hard copy shipped and do the study on time. Therefore, I was required to get the digital option.

While I am just getting started in this group experience, I did have to read her book, cover to cover. I could not put it down. It was written as if totally directed at me! I am in a cross-roads and had some creeping-in-thoughts of being not good enough! This book and the scriptures taught me otherwise and I am excited to be a part of this journey! I have a desire in my heart that wants to Glorify God in a project that means so much to me and will not go away.

WOMEN WHO WORK by Ivanka Trump is compelling reading. It is tight and very focused. I immediately went to CHAPTER TWO: MAKE YOUR MARK. I couldn’t help feeling this was someone who really, really knows inside out what she is talking about.

In terms of focus, vigor and immediacy, this self-help work is as good as Dale Carnegie’s masterpiece HOW TO WIN FRIENDS AND INFLUENCE PEOPLE (I am a fan of Dale Carnegie since my adolescent days). For the aspiring entrepreneur today, it could even be better, since it is a new contemporary work from a very successful business women who earned her position.

I now feel even if the cost were $ 50. 00 instead of a reasonable $ 6. 99 with free shipping (I bought it pre-owned). I would have bought it without a blink. It is worth every cent. If you have it, this book will be unfailing, smart and practical guide and self-help source anyone who buys it.

I personally think this is an easy to read book and it is well written. I read some reviews before I made the purchase. Most reviews seem quite negative about it. Some people might have their personal political opinions involved while writing the review, which I don’t think it’s fair.

Of course, Ivanka was born rich but surely she did not become a complete “trash” as many people see her. I think the book deserves a fair review. I read it on a business trip flying from Sydney to Phuket.

It was very refreshing to read and I applied some of her techniques during my business trip. It was quite beneficial. Overall, it’s a nice book to read when you are traveling.

Ivanka gives gracefulness to career stresses, she makes life with professionalistic ethics somehow easier now. Knowing her stories, her own family’s female professionals, as well those also around herself.

Its a Good feeling guidebook, a great career map read for any career level or age – just to feel your value! Also good book to gift to others!.

Do you know Perino is truly a gem. I think every young woman should take the time and read this book for every young woman needs a boost nowadays. Confidence and not being afraid of your own beliefs seems to be going extinct.

I welcome this wonderful book and I think Dana Perino for writing it. I purchased this book for my twin daughters that are 22, we all need help in this hostile world today.

I loved this book. I read this before recommending and buying it for my daughters (all in their 20’s). I wish I had this book when I was early in my career. Dana does a great job sprinkling in stories with encouragement to be true to yourself.

It’s refreshing to read about working hard and dealing with stress of a career from someone who is successful and genuine.

Very pleased to get this special book for two very special young girls in my life ,my daughter and granddaughter! I know Dana’s gift as a mentor in her life will be a great influence on them!

I didn’t like how the book was written, and it is not comprehensive enough. Not a lot of research went into it. The font is large and it seems to me they are just trying to make the book look thicker (hence worth the money).

Most of the words are taken by exercises and examples that aren’t useful in my opinion. If Alain de Botton wrote this himself, I would buy his version, but not the current one. A book is supposed to convince you of an idea or to change your mindset.

Not tell you to do stuff like it’s school again.

We borrowed this book from the Library, and then bought it! Then bought an extra copy for a friend for Christmas. ‘A Job to Love’ is surprisingly, beautifully written. And insightful, and practical; helping you to analyse your basic but probably nebulous motivations in a non-psycho-babble way.

Lots of good thinking to help with work and life. The exercises are really useful, stick with them. Good for selfawareness & decision-making. One of the few self-help books that is actually helpful.

This Bible study is Biblically based and has questions that can lead to deep introspection. It makes me really think about what I really believe, what God’s Word says and then leads me to go deeper in examination of myself.

The Lord sent these questions to open my eyes toward naming and confessing sin in my life. Not just overt sin, but things on the surface that I don’t generally equate with sin or not sin. Thank you for this Bible study!.

I love this timely study. It came at the perfect time in my life. Jess has been the cheerleader our group needed to be bold, brave, and DO what God has called us to do. The study guide is great; however, I do not recommend the ebook version.

It is not used friendly and very awkward to use. For the next study, I will plan ahead and order the paper copy of the study guide.
