Crochet rugs are a type of rug that is made using a crochet hook to create a looped design. The yarn for crochet rugs is typically a thicker type of yarn, such as wool or acrylic, in order to create a sturdy rug.
The thickness of the yarn will also determine how dense the rug is. For a thinner rug, a finer yarn, such as cotton, can be used. Crochet rugs can be made in any size or shape, and are often used as accent pieces in a room.

This is a fashion yarn but with the benefits of being machine washable which makes it even more practical for children’s projects. It knits up very quickly and once you are used to holding the pompom to the back of the work is easy to work with.
I also found it very therapeutic. The only negative was that the meterage stated on the yarn wrap is less than that given on most websites but I understand that it is an American product that has recently been updated.
Would recommend this to friends for simple but effective scarves for all ages.
This is one of the best yarns I’ve worked with for a quick and easy project. I was amazed at how it looked when finished. The rug was so very soft and easy to care for. It was the same on both sides and no spaces in between the pom-poms.
I wish Michael’s would bring this back to the stores. I didn’t know what to do with it at first; now that I do I want more!.
I love the look and feel of this yarn but I had a hard time using it. I tried following the instructions/pattern on the Red Heart web site but it just kept twisting up on me. Probably a more experienced crocheter would do well with it but not me!.
Corriedale is lovely and popular wool that is a wonderful all-purpose fiber loved by spinners, weavers, felters, knitters and crocheters around the world. This is premium grade, fine and softer than most other corriedale wools.
Originally and organically cruelty-free sourced from Australian and New Zealand sheep. This reliable multipurpose wool is a pleasure to spin, knit, crochet, weave or felt. Durable with significant loft and distinctive crimp, corredale wool is the optimal wool choice for sweaters, socks, blankets and other household textiles.
The Corriedale sheep is a mix of Merino and Lincoln breeds and the wool produces an excellent fiber quality for quick felting. Corriedale wool is popular among fiber artists and crafters of all stripes.
It is a medium fiber with a width of around 25-30 microns, and with a relatively good staple length of between 3-5 inches. It has a very well-defined crimp, and while difficult to spin fine, it makes a wonderfully bouncy DK or heavier weight yarn.
Its medium fiber means that not everyone will be comfortable wearing it directly against skin, but it makes superior outerwear, hat, gloves, rugs, and other housewares. While felters love it for its ability to easily felt, knitters, weaver and crocheters will love it for its grippy-ness; colorwork and weaving done with Corriedale wont slip around or become loose.
I first bought from Amazon your Corridale Roving, and it was a pleasure to spin and dye, and soft. I have spun some of your black merino, and the white merino, and I am happy with that also. Whoever processed all this wool, and made it into Top, did an excellent job.
I finally got the time to spin this fiber, and am very pleased. I spun it on my Jensen Wheel. Sometimes combed top is not the easiest for me to spin, but I had no problem. I’ve only spun one skein so far.
The only other thing I would have to do, if I want is to dye the yarn, and I wouldn’t do that until all the fiber is spun.
Lovely roving. I’m new to hand spinning, so I’m no expert. But it’s soft and fluffy with nice staple length. As far as I can tell, it is very good quality. Probably easy to spin with if you are more experienced/talented than I am!.

Bernat Roving is a soft thick wool-blend roving yarn. Perfect for cozy knit and crochet projects like garments and accessories. Available in neutral shades paired with rich hues Bernat Roving is ideal for both solid projects and colorwork.
Bernat Roving is a Bulky weight yarn that works up quickly and creates a lofty fabric. Hand wash and dry flat to keep your projects looking beautiful.
I’ve made at least six scarves using this yarn and I love it. It’s much softer (like, so, so soft! basically like a warm, comfy little cloud) than Paton’s roving wool yarn, and bulkier too. Like other reviewers said, if you make a mistake and undo some of your piece, it tends to get a little frayed, but I’ve learned to cope with it.
If you’re gentle, the yarn won’t fray at all while undoing a mistake. I’ve not experienced anything like that “falling apart” issues some reviewers mentioned. This yarn won’t pull apart for me without some serious effort! The colors do seem to be a little off online, but not by too much.
Be aware that the plum is in fact a plum color, not purple. The raspberry is a little more magenta in person. The teal is much, much more vibrant in person (really more of a bright turquoise). Overall, however, I’m extremely happy with this yarn.
I will be buying it as long as it is available, and it has quickly become my favorite yarn to work with for my crocheting projects.
This is a wonderful yarn for most projects. I saw someone was not happy it wouldn’t felt. Please look at the yarns content if you want to felt it. This yarn, though it is a roving only has 20% wool. If you want to felt a project the yarn or roving yarn must be at least 80% wool or other animal fur.
Even some animal fur will not felt. And 100 percent is better. Even at 80% it will not felt as much. Man made products do not felt. It can be really disappointing when you make something but it doesn’t felt like you wanted.
I made a long sleeved sweater for my daughter who is a secretary in a school. She needed a warm sweater as it is cold where she sits in the school. She loved the sweater, the color and the weight. I also made her a matching beret which she liked very much.
The only complaint I have with the yarn itself is that when you use it to sew seams, the yarn unravels and separates which caused me to throw away several lengths as the yarn was then not the true thickness it should be.
Othewise it washed nicely and is very soft as well as very warm. I don’t have a picture to show you as my daughter was here just as I finished wrapping it up ( a Birthday present) and I gave it to her then as she lives in VT and would be returning home the next day.

I love the color scheme of this yarn, and it has excellent potential for large projects, but I would appreciate this yarn more if it had two color change options. I used the first cake I bought to crochet a beanie, and barely made it through 3 of the colors, so the hat is more of a colorblock rather than a hat with stripes of color.
I still have over half the first cake left too, and am giving it a lot of thought before making something else with this yarn so I’m not disappointed. I have knitting patterns at my disposal too, so perhaps a drop stitch shawl will better work with the large lengths of colorbetween changes.
I’d like in the future for there to be two options of color change, with more frequent changes being one of them for smaller projects.

I’m currently making a big hand-crocheted blanket. This is the first time I’ve been working with this yarn, and I have a few observations. First, I’ve found two very different thicknesses of yarn. A few of my skeins are really thick and pretty easy to use, while the other skeins are thinner and harder to use.
Since I’m hand weaving, the thicker yarn holds it’s shape better and doesn’t unravel itself in my stitches, while the thinner yarn tends to pull away from itself. Very frustrating but easily salvageable.
I find that my stitches aren’t very straight because the yarn is so soft, the weight of the rest of the blanket tends to pull at the row I’m currently working on. The yarn is incredibly soft and the blanket will be warm and comfortable, but for a beginner, don’t expect perfection or speed while using it.
If I were using tools I’m sure it would be easier. The only other thing is that knots tend to pull apart when I get to weave them into the blanket. It’s pretty frustrating, so I’ve started not trimming the extra yarn from my knots until the very end, when I can go back and trim them all.
My hope is that if any knots do come apart, there will be extra yarn to re-tie. In conclusion, the yarn is very soft and honestly so amazing, but you need to have patience and think outside the box a little bit to make sure nothing starts to unravel.
Have a vacuum for the extra fluff that tends to fly everywhere and go for the thicker yarn!.
I bought this yarn at the store because it was a gorgeous color and soooo soft. I did not see reviews until I got home and looked it up to buy more. The yarn was ok to work with and is amazingly soft and snuggly.
I didn’t have too many problems with it shedding while making the blanket, some but nothing crazy. But that blanket hangs out on my microfiber couch and constantly sheds (ever time you change colors there are more ends that get tucked in and eventually shed).
It sticks to the microfiber and it annoying to constantly remove. If I was going to make a gift I would never inflict the shedding on someone else. If I was going to make a new project I would pass by this yarn in the future.
There are so many yarn options out there I don’t think this one is worth it.
This is the most delicious yarn I’ve worked with in awhile. The feel is plush, almost velvety, and the strands were consistent thickness, with no patched-together pieces. I have a friend whose daughter is on the autism spectrum, and I made her a small blanket she can use to comfort herself.
I enjoyed working with Chenille Home so much, I re-ordered it in bulk. There was a small amount of shedding, but not enough to concern me. Highly recommend.

Finally, a wool-free sock yarn! Knitters and the lucky people they knit for have long clamored for a wool-free sock yarn, something that wouldn’t irritate or overheat. Meet Hi Koo Co Ba Si—a cotton, bamboo and silk blend that also has a generous amount of elastic nylon.
It comes in a wide range of colors, making it a perfect candidate for warm weather color work. Soft and machine washable, this will also be a go-to for hardy baby garments. Note: You will need approximately 400 yards for a basic pair of socks for an average women size.
I LOVE this yarn. At first I was concerned that it would slide of the tips of my needles too easily, as it is a bit slippery. But I figured I would get used to it, and once I did, I couldn’t be happier with how beautifully it works up.
I would suggest using wood needles rather than metal, however. I’ve knit a cople of pairs of socks so far, and they are soft and cushy and comfy. Just be careful if you are a TV knitter like me, it’s three twisted strands, so it does split easily.
But this won’t be a problem for experienced knitters. I have purchased this yarn in 6 or 7 colors, which are all wonderful. Once the weather turns cool, I’ll be purchasing the DK and Worsted versions.
Thanks HiKoo and Alpaca Direct for a superlative sock yarn at an excellent price!.
This is an easy yarn to work with. The knitted piece is soft and stretchy. I doubled it for an apron pattern, which made the fabric pretty heavy, but the parts that aren’t doubled are nice and light.
When I started to weave in ends and sew pockets on, the plies untwisted, but I had no problem with that while knitting.

There are a few things to keep in mind when crocheting a rug. The first is the type of yarn to use. Bulky yarns work best for rugs because they are thick and will hold up well to foot traffic. The second is the type of crochet stitch to use.
A single crochet stitch is the most common stitch used for rugs, but a double crochet stitch can also be used. The third is the size of the rug. Rugs can be any size, but it is important to make sure that the rug is not too big or too small for the space it will be used in.
When choosing a yarn for a crochet rug, it is important to pick a yarn that is durable and easy to care for. Bulky yarns are a good choice for rugs because they are thick and will hold up well to foot traffic.
wool and acrylic yarns are two good choices for rugs. It is also important to choose a yarn that is easy to care for. wool and acrylic yarns can both be machine-washed and dried, making them easy to care for.
The type of crochet stitch you use will also affect the look and feel of the rug. A single crochet stitch is the most common stitch used for rugs, but a double crochet stitch can also be used. The single crochet stitch will create a tighter, denser fabric, while the double crochet stitch will create a looser, more open fabric.
When choosing the size of the rug, it is important to make sure that the rug is not too big or too small for the space it will be used in. Rugs can be any size, but it is important to make sure that the rug is the right size for the space.
If the rug is too small, it will look out of place and may be a trip hazard. If the rug is too big, it will take up too much space and may be difficult to clean.
