20 Best Work Gloves For Mechanics (2023 Updated)

I have owned more than five pairs of HexArmor gloves of different models. Each pair has proven to be tough to destroy. I did wear out a pair of Chrome series in a few weeks of concrete demolition & disposal.

These are rugged, protective, warm, and worth every penny. The rubberized tops protect your knuckles from scrapes and the textured palms give grip and protection for working with tools. They are insulated in a medium thickness that keeps my hands warm in negative temps for several hours, while not being too thick to compromise handling tools.

I like these gloves for almost any/all of the jobs that I do outside or around light machinery. The “large” size fits my hands perfectly – snug but not tight enough to greatly interfere with motion. Any glove will reduce dexterity to a degree, but the reduction with these is as low as for any work type glove I have found, and delivers a nice balance between protection and dexterity for the types of jobs I do.

The lack of extraneous padding helps. The glove protects against minor cuts and scuffs, irritation from hay bale stings on the fingers, protection against thorns when cutting brush, and suchlike, which is what I am looking for, and they last very well for these tasks.

If you are doing heavy machinery repairs or similar tasks where more protection is useful and dexterity perhaps not quite as important, it could be that you will want a glove with more padding that arguably offers more protection against serious injury.

For me, these are great, and I tend to pick up a few pairs whenever they go on sale or a particularly good coupon arrives.

I purchased these gloves a couple months ago and what a deal! I have used these gloves for painting, cutting grass, picking up tree trimmings, working on vehicles and working in the garden. First off I have large hands and its hard to find a glove that fits well and have enough ventilation to wear them without my palms sweating.

In come a pair of Hardy gloves from Harbor Freight! Most big box stores will sell these gloves for 3 to 4 times the price you pay here and will not have the quality of these gloves. The fit and lightweight design is great when you are in warm weather because they allows your hands to breathe, you also can still pick up small items without having to remove them.

Overall a quality product! I have purchased 4 more pair for my family and they enjoy them too! Great buy!.

I grew up working with my hands and never was one who liked to wear gloves. Time makes things change as you get older ( I’m in my 70’s ) and the skin gets thinner. That had me looking for gloves that were comfortable , offered good protection and still allowed you to “feel” the work.

After going thru a lot of gloves , most of which cost a lot more than these , I found these to be my ” go to ” gloves. I keep them in my shop my car and my home. I have also loaned a pair or two and found them hard to get back which makes them good gifts.

These worked well for what I indented them for. Which was blocking freezing air in the winter. I didn’t even do any hard mechanical work with these and the fingers got torn up easily. I had to add a Velcro strap on both wrists to fit better.

I wish they made a little more insulated pair with adjustable Velcro that still wasn’t bulky. I would not wear these when doing normal mechanical work, they don’t serve any advantage accept to keep hands less cold.

I would rather buy a second pair of riding gloves and wear those or insulated working gloves.

I’ve been using these gloves for the past several years, I get about a year’s wear out of them I will wear them out before I get a new pair. It’s the only type of gloves I will use from now on. I use them for all applications form working on automobiles to farm/yard work.

I know these aren’t necessarily designed for construction work, but they didn’t last more than a shift before noticeable wear and holes in the fingers. Not worth the price.

Bought one pair on sale, wore them once for riding motorcycle and then wrenching. Couldn’t buy a second pair fast enough! They are comfortable, durable, and priced right! I wear these things for everything.

Hunting, shoveling, yard work, in snow, and safety. They dry quick and are super dextrious. Don’t hesitate, just buy.

Not overly cumbersome thick and heavy. Perfect wrist protection length. Use it with my phone so it appears to be touch sensitive. Maybe would be nice if it had hard knuckles.

I do commercial electrical work. The leather of these gloves is very thin goat skin, but very durable so it takes a while to wear holes in the fingers. I dont know if all goat skin is this durable or if they treat it with something that makes it durable, but the combination of thin yet durable is ideal.

The more deftness I can get out of gloves the better – the less often I have to take them off to do some deft-fingered task, the more I can use them. I dont buy any other gloves now that I found these about 12 years ago.

When need hand protection these Gloves come in sizes to fit well. These gloves hold up VERY Well, being light weight choice. I use them every day while on Forklift and moving things. I uses Railroad gloves when working with HD Straps.

SO one pair last 8 months average Truck driving and Forlift.

I work with horses, and have occasional side forays into firewood cutting, carpentry, vegetable gardening, and woodworking. This requires rugged, yet flexible work gloves. These Ironclad Ranchworx gloves meet this need very well, at an affordable price.

They’re a winner. Yes, I would recommend these gloves. They are a bit stiff when they’re brand-new, but they break in nicely. They’re great for spring, summer, and fall around the farm.

This is my second set of these gloves. Simply wore the others out after about a year of daily usage. The replacement gloves have a few refinements that have been made to make them a bit more durable and comfortable.

The real trick, as with any gloves, is the fit must be correct. These gloves fit like the proverbial “fits like a glove”. Have only found one other brand that I like as well, they are substantially more costly, so I go with these.

They feel like a second skin. Very dexterous for performing detailed work. However the thumb length is a little longer than it should be. I like the Kevlar reinforced index and thumb patch and the sweat patch for wiping your brow.

Overall a very goog glove to use. They confusin comes from the sizing. My hand measures 9 inches around the knuckles at the top of the handle not fingers and size chart says xl. That fit was snug but Im more of a 2xl.

These gloves were OK at fist saved my hands from damaged but i order them on 1/14/22 expected on 1/31/22. I did pay freight and they are now falling apart 02/26/22 in the seems not to happy with the product i have to invest on a different set.

These gloves don’t have a very good grip very slippery.

I bought these to wear to the gym as an extra layer of protection agains covid. I wasn’t sure how I’d like wearing gloves, but they’re really great. I can lift in them with no problems and they’re easy to wash and care for.

I both hand wash and machine wash them, and have even sent them to the laundry mat for wash and fold service. They’ve held up to everything I’ve asked of them so far–barbells, kettlebells, medicine balls, all the things.

The fit around the fingers were snug not bulky. The pink kept it feminine and not out of place with my clothing. You should make more women friendly gloves like these and with more color variations. I am a delivery driver and with this pandemic going on, I always wear gloves to open doors, pick up packages and touch the pay pads in the stores.

Fantastic, quality gloves, I work on a paint line, taking off the powder coated items, the company do supply us with gloves, but they simply aren’t fit for purpose, so I thought I’d try the Mechanix ones, & I’m very glad I did.

Although they’re not heat resistant, they offer enough to still protect my hands from the metal, definitely more so than the ones the company provided, these protect my hands from bumps / scrapes, & they’re superbly comfortable, you almost forget you’re wearing them! True, I did have to cut out the sizing labels, as they’re positioned just inside the glove, at the wrist, which I found irritating, as it rubbed & got in the way, but aside from that, no complaints now.

I’d recommend these gloves to anyone who requires a quality, lightweight glove for work purposes, as they can take alot of wear / hammer, & the best thing of all, can just pop them in wash without rtisk of shrinkage.

Bought these 9 months ago for light workshop duties but also realised along the way they make great and cool looking cafe racer motorcycle gloves too. I also have a Vespa scooter and these are perfect for it.

Subdued dark, covert print also adds to their overal appeal and appearance. These have been used practicaly on daily basis for 9 months and used both for work as well as riding. Have stood the test of time and wear and tear very well, they loom alsmoat as new as the day I bought them.

Highly recommended. I have aince bought another pair and to keep it as spare. You know how it is in NZ, good things don’t last long in shops once people realise how great something is. In NZ, if you like something you should buy it straight away (funds permitting of course) as it might not be there tomorrow.

I bought the gloves to use during competitive shooting. They fit perfectly, seem very durable so far considering the thickness of them too. They’re very good at what they’re designed for; allowing good feeling through the glove.

The only downside I’ve noticed so far is just how slippery they are, the rifle regularly moves around in my support hand when firing in some positions. Hoping more regular use fixes this but so far. still the same issue.

Other than that though very very good,would recommend.

I only leave a review when a product is really good or really bad, these gloves are really good. The price was better than elsewhere as was the range of sizes available. Service, packaging and delivery were all excellent.

I purchased the gloves as I had a large area of ground which had become overgrown with mature brambles and nettles and I had given up trying to clear it with various pairs of normal, heavy duty work gloves, none of which offered any real protection against the brambles.

I have now cleared the ground over the last few days and was able to grasp the brambles, even the more mature ones with stalks over 1 cm in diameter and HUGE thorns, without any of the thorns penetrating the palms or the inside of the fingers.

I did get the odd prick to the outside of my palms but this was to be expected as only the palm side of the glove provides protection against piercing and could have been avoided by a little less haste on my part.

I would not recommend these gloves for picking brambles as they are clearly designed for more heavy duty work but if you have bramble bushes which you wish to remove, they are worth every penny. Measuring my hands indicated I was just into the range for large gloves.

Normally I take a medium and I hate gloves that are too large, so I took a chance and ordered mediums, they fitted perfectly. All in all I am delighted with the service from work gloves. co. uk and with the product I purchased.

Recently started a huge clearing operation with brambles, thistles and loads of nettles. I can attack anything with no penetration. I can even grab hold of sharp brambles tightly and pull with no penetration, which is brilliant.

The back of the hand, knuckle side, is not protected so you have to be careful. I just hope they last as they are the most expensive gardening gloves I have ever bought.

The armour on the palm is really good, sadly it dosent cover the back of the fingers or the crease between thumb and forefinger. From first use I’ve still been pulling thorns from my hands wearing these.

If they covered half the back of the fingers and the grip crease they would be good gloves.

Wont buy these again, other than having the word “Finishline” across the back of the glove, these are exactly the same gloves I get from the local builders merchants for £1. save your money. Apart from that, they are ok, last longer than normal latex gloves.

Best Mechanical Gloves Ever! They are strong, thin and very durable. great for fixing bicycles and things that require you to hold and work on small parts.

It is a good glove to perform any operation in the workshop, especially if the size is correct because it should be quite tight. I have an acceptably large hand and the size L-XL is quite broad.

I like to only purchase these when they are on sale for 3. 50 -4 dollars. I use these exclusively every day, and they do hold up well in terms of the material wearing in. I usually only have to throw them out when i rub holes in the fingers (months), or the stitching comes apart and your fingers show.

This is the most prevalent problem with the gloves, but for throwaways, and the price, they are a great bargain. Would recommend to anyone if hand coverage is needed. I wear them year-round, although they don’t provide a whole lot of warmth in a Michigan winter.

If they get wet, use a dry pair and simply dry the wet ones out; doesn’t seem to phase the gloves. They are not leather, so they wont last as long, don’t make your hands stink, and are 1/3 of the cost at least.

I’ve tried using these gloves for work around the farm. I like them because they provide reasonable protection, fit well, aren’t overly bulky and are low priced. I don’t like these gloves because they don’t last.

I typically get less than a day’s work out of them before the seams rip or large holes appears. Value wise, they aren’t worth much. A leather or pig skin glove would last much better. I just haven’t located any yet that feel and fit as well as these gloves at a reasonable price.

For now I’ll stick with these, but at $4 per day, I am looking for a better solution.

A few years ago a Harbor Freight opened up in my city and I purchased a pair of these at their grand opening because the price was very reasonable. I still have that same pair and in the meantime I’ve purchased additional pairs for different jobs.

I use one pair specifically when I work on my wood lathe. I’ve purchased a pair for the trunk of my car, a pair for use in my garage workshop, a pair for my wife (she loves them for garden use) and yet another pair recently just to have a extra set.

I knew they were NOT rubberized so when they get wet I just dry them in the sun and they bounce right back. They break in easily and when they are on sale it’s a good buy.

I recently purchased these gloves for heavy outdoors yard work. They are well priced and value for money. Fit for purpose, they are well designed and are up to the task. Highly recommended.

I bought these for myself for general working around the workshop. They have proved pretty good and I like them. Firm fit, good grip and good basic protection for general use, which is what i bought them for.

The best gloves I have ever brought!! Soft, comfortable and you can grip things with easy. Price wise – decent. Definitely worth buying!!!

Really enjoying wearing these during the winter. Regular gloves make grabbing nails from my nail pouch difficult. When you get more experience you can almost grab the exact number of nails you need to start nailing something together or to finish up with 3nails.

Any other glove slows me down in this area. Love the terry cloth on the side to rub my face instead of a ruff or sharp plastic corner.

Just right for bike cleaning and protecting hands

I use these for weight training and other minor tasks and they have been holding up well for a month. Not sure if they are going to continue holding up but we will see. Price seems a little high for what feel like a basic type quality glove.

Will buy again if they continue holding up.

I ordered these thinking they’d be Large as advertised but received Medium. Don’t know it its a advertising or shipper mistake but I ended up keeping them due the Medium fit snug and using them for shooters gloves anyway.

As far as quality they seem to be ok no lose stitching found. The palm is a soft leather type material there’s no slip proofing rubber. The wrist has a Velcro hook and loop to tighten around the wrist which these hook about half way on me.

They have a nylon loop at wrist to hook the gloves together with a clip (not supplied) or to a belt or something. Hope this helps have a nice day I’m going shooting now.

Found these on ebay at a great price. Bought a pair for my husband, too! Great value and I don’t worry so much about my son getting frostbite~.

Very comfortable gloves, but after one day working as a pit crew member, swapping tires and light mechanical work the pads of the fingers are already showing obvious wear and fibers are coming out. Not what I’d expect from mechanics gloves.

good gloves in a 3xl size (which is hard to find), comfortable with no awkward seams, only downside is could have a bit of soft protection on the outside of the fingers, otherwise a good glove

Well designed, flexible yet tough and hard wearing. Not only that, but they look cool too.

I love em for their practically and easy fit, but you don’t buy Mechanic gloves for warmth, they are for work.

Used for yard work and other tasks these gloves hold up great. Much better than the cheaper options. Definitely worth the extra cost. Comfortablea and nice looking and they do protet your hands and last.

I throw them into the washing machine with my work clothes and they look like new again. used one pair for yard work and trimming all season without wearing them out and still using them.

The color, fit and mostly the padding make these gloves the best fit for my hands and provides security to me from scratches and sharp edges or just an add for heavy lifting. The color helps me find them quickly and distinguishes them a “mine!” Totally recommend.

Put them on and feel the power come alive from your hands to whatever you need done. Not for easy, delicate jobs. these are thick.

I have gone through several pairs of gloves recently doing some stone work and shoveling and heavy stuff. Some of them did not even last one day before I wore through the fingers. These have extra pads on the fingertips that have held up very well.

The only thing is I should have maybe got them in xxl instead of just xl. They are a bit tight, but they are workable and they do get better after using them a bit.

i purchased caiman gloves about 10 years ago and they were great. good fit and finish. this pair is more crude. caiman mustve changed their qc and cut. bulkier and loss of dexterity and control due to finger tips that are bulky.

they r ok gloves just below what i had purchased in past and disappointed.

Bought my second pair. First pair lasted a long time as they are made well of quality materials. even washed them a couple times. They are a little heavier than most mechanics gloves which does make them a little warmer in the summertime.

I work in the wind industry and this is a great all around glove except the winter. I particularly like the glove because it molds to your hand as you break it in giving you more dexterity, so you don’t have to repeatedly remove your gloves 🙂 cheaper and more durable then the expensive name brand.

Seasonal Glove, Hands will get wet. Otherwise, good glove for the price.
