All the Kreg screws are great, the self-tapping screw-tips work exactly as designed, without having to drill pilot holes in the second work-piece, and without splitting it. If you want to work on an outdoor project, get the Kreg Blue-Kote screws.

I don’t know how long they’ll last without rusting, but I have a couple of Blue-Kote projects that have made it through six harsh summers and six harsh winters, and they still look new. The zinc-coated screws will start rusting pretty quick outdoors.

Kreg recommends 1-1/4 inch screws for joining two (nominal) one-by boards. The 1-1/2 inch length is a bit large for that. you stand a chance of having the tip extend out of the second work-piece. But I use a lot of this length in building cheap shelving, with 1×10 shelves and 2×10 verticles.

The extra quarter inch gives me a stronger joint.

I use them in places where I need higher fastening strength than a nail, and where I need fastening for temporary purposes.

The star drive really torques down without stripping. They really do pre-drill themselves into most wood. They don’t bleed. The threading really bites hard into wood and really joins two pieces of wood tightly.

The reason for the 4 stars and not 5 is I have had these things snap when I drilled into hardwood without pre-drilling. I have found that once you start screwing them in to hardwood then don’t stop. If you want to drive it just a little deeper they snap off.

Because these screws grip so well it is hard to get a broken thread out. If you are constructing with softwoods such as redwood then you will never notice this problem. Once you learn to avoid snapping the screws then you will never want anything else.

These are heavy duty easy to drive fully functional exterior Grade screws that also happen to be pretty e when hanging items that work better if the head is exposed. I leave the head up a little instead of countersinking them.

They look like little flowers. I ran out, and discovered my local Ace store was the only place I could find them. Not even all Ace stores have them. So having them available on Tryit is terrific. The color is not true brass or bronze but I’ve used them for both and find the color very complimentary.

We use the longer ones for heavier duty jobs. Exelent calidad.

I had some pressure treated railings on my deck that had poorly affixed balusters. They were attached using very thin nails and came off easily. I used these screws to firmly attach the balusters. It was a little bit of overkill, but I never have to worry about them disconnecting, and creating a dangerous gap in the fence.

Yes, this is a great little screw for all those hard to get to places, and very thin stock joining needs. only in fine thread so great for hardwood, and less splitting of softwood. Smaller head diameter with good purchasing land for good square drive seating.

I got these for building some shelves in my garage’s wall, they worked just fine. I wanted to compare them against other top screws I used previously and this Power Pro stacked up just fine. I like that they came with a large (long?) bit to use specially for these screws.

Upon receipt of my order, which did arrive promptly, I was shocked at change in the product. The screws were stainless but the similarity stopped there. The updated version was 2. 5 inches but they were literally 1/2 the thickness of old version, both the head size and the shank.

In addition, when I had occasion to make some adjustments and tried to remove them, the heads actually sheared off creating problems I really didn’t need. Needless to say I am very disappointed in this product and would not recommend.

I use these screws on composite decking (Fiberon) and they are barely noticeable on the finished project. Using plugs makes a less visible installation, but some of them fall out and they are expensive and time consuming.

For me the Cap-Tor are the perfect balance of cost and appearance. Very high quality screws. I do buy a few plugs that match the decking to fill in any “misses” (where I missed a joist), and just use a drill bit to make the perfect sized hole for the plug.

These power pro one exterior screws work great for small projects. I really like that they have a a star head instead of the regular Phillips head look. These screws are good for different types of material such as Wood, Metal Plastic and even drywall.

You don’t have to predrill either. They are made to even work in concrete but you do have to pre drill if used for that purpose. We used these in a set of wood steps inside our house. The flat head homes up or lies flat against the wood and that keeps you from getting caught or getting snagged when walking on them.

This pack also came with the star head driver which is great cause it’s not a real common use and not likely to have that tool around. They are holding up well. Very happy with this kit.

These screws work great, I got the 5/8 inch for doing some small jobs around the house, I was able to fasten a few hinges to my kitchen cabinets that I needed done for a while. These screws are very good for hardwood and very sharp, going really smoothly.

They come with a bit that you need to put them in which is a big Plus in the bit fits very securely, no slips at all. I plan on getting the longer versions when I’m replacing cabinets next time because they seem to be great for cabinet work, I did draw a pilot hole, I would definitely not recommend going into any hardwood with any screw without a pilot hole.

But these screws have not let me down yet, definitely highly recommend.
