20 Best Women’S Boots For Snow And Ice (2023 Updated)

I bought my first pair (the black ones) before Christmas last year. We live in central Alabama but I took them with us to Gatlinburg, Tennessee on Christmas Day. I’m so glad I did because it was a winter wonderland up there & I wore these EVERY WHERE! My feet stayed dry & warm & at the end of the day, my feet wasn’t sore at all.

The sidewalks in Gatlinburg were completely iced over and although I slid a little bit, it wasn’t near as bad as others were sliding. Everyone kept asking me where I got them from and told me how much they loved them.

And I loved them so much that as soon as we got back home, I ordered a 2nd pair in the color brown. Another great thing is, I wore these a lot last winter and they still look brand new. Definitely well made.

I bought these boots based on the reviews. I had to get a wide width because Columbia makes thin width boots. I live in Maine. These boots keep my feet warm and dry in slush and snow. I’ve walked in 2 feet of snow and was fine except for it coming into my calf because I wore leggings.

These boots have nothing on Sorel Tivoli II and Sorel Tofinos. Both of those models make me feet cold. I will say that you must wear a good pair of Darn Tough socks or a good pair for winter. I wore them with thin summer socks and I felt the cold come through.

I hiked 3 miles in snow and they stood up with no leaks although these aren’t hiking boots.

Prepping for a trip to Iceland in the next month. Ive tried several boots, meaning a lot!! I kept navigating towards Columbia from online searches and when I found the wide option I figured lets give it a try.

Very comfortable with room for the layered socks. Did some water tests and seems to hold up. I’ve lived in the mountains with plenty of snow and feel these will work. Feet tend to run wide as its hereditary and I’ve worked from home for 6 years, barefoot or sandals daily.

Workout shoes only during workout. Sandals in the snow too, Cali girl. The boots are comfortable and feel they’re sturdy enough to hold up during my trip and future adventures.

After reading several reviews for these across the ‘net, I decided The North Face Shellista II Mid Boot was the boot for me in terms of waterproofing, durability, grip, comfort, and warmth. Several reviews, however, mention that the sizing runs SMALL.

This is TRUE! And I say this as someone who struggles to find a women’s size 5 shoe that isn’t too big for me (I wish there was a size 4. 75, because 4. 5 is too small!). I am a grown adult woman, but my feet are baby feet, tiny and narrow.

I took a gamble and ordered the size 6 based on the reviews (and the fact that it’s the smallest size available anywhere!) and they fit PERFECTLY with thick wool socks. In fact, my big toes are about 1/2 – 3/4 inch from hitting the front walls.

For comparison, my size 5 Adidas sneakers are almost the same size as these. They feel great after a test drive walking around my neighborhood. I am yet to test drive them in the snow, but I’ll say that my feet were running HOT walking 20 minutes in Southern California 55 degree winter temps.

Looking forward to putting them to the real test in snowy New England in a few weeks! I feel confident they’ll be great!.

Bought a pair in size 6 (my usual shoe size) for a snowshoeing trip and they were great. I was initially concerned about how my toes felt mildly compressed due to the rubber construct of the toe area, especially when worn with thick wool socks since I have wide feet.

I tried a size 6. 5 for comparison and the heel felt too loose so I kept the size 6 with hesitation. However, when I wore them and went snowshoeing, it performed well! The toe area was not an issue, my toes got only mildly cold, and overall felt comfortable throughout the hike.

I suspect it’s not roomy enough for me to fit toe warmers, but for 30 degrees Tahoe weather the boots were warm enough for me. I was also unsure whether the mid-calf coverage would be too much stiffness for hiking up hills, but it was not bothersome at all.

The calves did get a little too warm at times which I resolved by layering less in the legs the next day.

Great boots but don’t keep your feet very warm. They also fold at the back of the heel where the rubber and the boot meats. I am in northern Minnesota, and there are definitely better boots that are less stylish you could order.

I chose these because I wanted them to be relatively cute plus have warmth to them! Overall a decent boot, but if you’re not wearing the right socks your feet will freeze. I ordered a size up and probably only needed a half size bigger if anything.

They are waterproof until snow makes it way through the top of you boot which then creates damp socks & feet. They’re relatively lightweight which is a plus but I feel like that feeds into your feet getting so cold so quickly.

I’m sure they will last a long time, but if you’re looking for a real winter boot for long term use I wouldn’t say this is the boot you’re looking for.

These boots are so cute! I read reviews before buying and everyone said they run small and to size up and I’m so glad I did! These boots definitely run small! However, even sizing up, they boots are still uncomfortable and tight in the shoebox area.

I have small (size 6) narrow feet and the 6. 5 size was still tight/narrow in the toes. The opening around the ankle is really large and the tongue is fixed, so you can’t tie them tighter. My foot constantly slides forward.

I tried walking around in my house in them for many days and they are honestly just so uncomfortable. I’m sad because they are so cute! I’m hoping the reason Sorel has discontinued these is because they’re working on making these cute boots more comfortable and size appropriate! I own other Sorel boots and love them, so I’m not sure why these are sized so differently and why they’re so uncomfortable.

We have a quarter acre very close to a river in north Florida our property consists of sand and more sand we’ve gone through more sneakers than I want to think about! So I started hunting for an indestructible boot that would be comfortable in our heat and be tough to take on our sand, weeds, and mystery territory where grand pop’s kayaks live as do the opossums.

We also have a long concrete driveway and Olde antique pavers… I have a proving ground here lol! These pass the test ! Now I do have to clean these every evening when he comes in, I put the crevice attachment on the vacuum and vacuum the insides I usually get about a half a pound of sand lol I Do remove the insole and wipe down.

Love them! I bought them in a size 9t and a 10t… I think they RUN SMALL. Also easy on easy off, the Velcro straps take a moment to get use to. But no issues with staying on.

I am so pleased with these boots. I live at the beach and needed a boot to walk on the beach in the winter. I live on the Texas coast so I didn’t need extreme warmth but I definitely need waterproofing.

I read the reviews before I bought and they said the boot runs short so I sized up 1/2 size from 8. 5 to 9 and I’m glad I followed the advice. My foot is a bit narrow and the boot was a little wide for me even with socks.

I added an insole and now the fit is perfect. The boot was very stiff and not comfortable when I tried them on at home. I thought long and hard about returning them and finally decided to cut off the tag and wear them.

It was exactly the right decision and the boots softened up right away with some walking and became my favorite boots the second time I wore them. It poured down rain on Thanksgiving and I wore them to the family celebration even though they were more casual than I would have preferred.

I bought these boots about 2 years ago. I have always heard such great things about Sorel brand, and I’ve always loved the look of them, so when they went on sale, I got a pair at my usual size of 7 1/2.

I think they are such cute boots and compliment everything I wear, including my winter coat. But these are the most uncomfortable boots I’ve ever owned. They are very heavy and clunky feeling, and I feel like my calves get very sore after wearing them for more than a couple of hours.

They took a long time to “break in”, and I had really bad ankle blisters during that time. Even since that break in period, these just have never been comfortable to wear. They dig into my ankles, and the left boot feels tighter and is much harder to take off, then the right boot.

I wish I loved them more, but after wearing them many times over the last couple of years, they’re not getting any better. I just got the Sorel Tofino II Canvas and Leather boots for Christmas this year and I absolutely love them! So much lighter, slimmer and more comfortable to wear.

Plus, they’re also super cute boots that will look good with everything. I got these new boots in size 7 1/2 as well, and I can’t believe the difference in comfort and style. I definitely prefer the Sorel Tofino II, over the Joan of Artic, and I highly recommend the Tofino II, if you’re on the fence about which boots to buy.

The Tofino II are much slimmer, lighter and way more comfortable to wear, especially for longer periods of time. I guess the only down side to the Tofino II… my calves and ankles aren’t getting the heavy workout that they got with the Joan of Artic boots ;).

This was my first pair of Sorel boots. I’ve had them for about a month now and have worn them a number of times on dog walks and when running errands. They did need to be broken in a as they felt stiff near the ankle area the first few times especially when driving my truck.

They’re comfy once broken in. They’re also warm. So far the weather has been rainy, windy and near 20F degrees. I have a wide foot and always have issues with shoes being too narrow. These Sorel Joan of Arctic boots offer ample room for my wide foot even with thick winter socks.

Chicago hasn’t had snow yet, but I’m confident these will not disappoint. For reference, the widest part of my foot, when standing is about 4 inches (10cm) wide and I purchased a size 8 boot.

The description states that the boots run big and there is plenty of room for thick socks and recommends to size down if in between sizes. I’m a solid 7. 5 but disregarded their instructions and ordered a 7.

5 anyway. I could barely get my foot in and my big toe was touching the top of the shoe! I’m seriously debating if I’ll need an 8. or an 8. 5. I’ve never bought an 8. 5 in my life. It’s so frustrating because I don’t want to go through the return and repurchase process (Sorel doesn’t offer exchanges).

Very frustrating situation to be in for an expensive pair of boots. Sorel, please seriously do some QA on your sizing or at least update your description to say your boots run extremely small.

I absolutely can’t say enough positive things about Sherry’s boots. I have 6 pairs all different, but the salt water ducks are hard to find even in Texas. I grew up wearing LL B boots between the rain, snow and freezing temps in Ma where I grew up nothing beats a good pair of Ducks but LL B just look off on my feet they look like clown shoes.

So I had been eying Sperrys for a while but even at there fairly affordable price it’s still Texas thinking I might use them a week out of the year I kept passing. Then one day I saw them on sale $80 took them home the rest is history.

I wear them everywhere with anything and everything. 100 degrees outside I’m still out in shorts tank top and my duck boots. Very few weird looks but tons of compliments. Out of all 6 pairs and almost Daily use some are a tad ratty looking but still good to go.

My latest was the leather salt water duck. Super happy with my purchase and even order 3 kid pairs for my nieces and nephews since they like mine so much. Guess all that’s let is wait for it to rain sooner or later.

As an avid Sperry customer, I am always excited about their new introductions and this jewel was a perfect choice for my 31-year-old daughter’s Santa stash. When I received them from online order ( in 6 business days-during the pandemic shipping craze, along with 4 other Sperry products) I was beyond pleased with the purchase.

The Duck Boot is the exceptional, dependable Sperry design & quality. The beautiful ivory, cream color is a rich color without being glaring or “plastic” looking as some other companies fail on that cream or white appearance standard.

The sole color matching the shoe area is a very attractive difference and takes the boot to an upscale look that can add a fun detail for a dressy look. The gold color on the boot upper section is not extremely glittery or sparkly, it is more of a distressed appearance, subtle and blended into the material which is very attractive and pleasing.

Also, the gold does not rub off as is the case I have experienced by other companies in applying a metallic on a leather fabric. The metallic is whispered across the material and marries the design seamlessly.

I LOVE my boots. I received the grey version in size 7. 5 for Christmas which is my true size. They fit perfectly. I do not have particularly “wide” feet or “narrow” feet, and would say these fit comfortably.

It does not feel like you’re wearing a boot. They are not stiff, and flexible even when walking all day in them. I live in a snowy state and these keep my feet dry, and warm. It really just feels like you’re wearing your favorite pair of sneakers.

I was worried these would be a bit bulky but they are not at all. Very lightweight, very comfortable. I will be purchasing a second pair in a different color because I seriously love these so much! Highly recommend!.

If you are a girl on the go and have zero patience for the tall obnoxious winter boot that dictates your pant options- these boots are a must. They are the result of a hiking boot dad and high top sneaker mom that made the perfect cold weather baby.

Warm, waterproof, and so very stylishly comfortable. Love the red chalk color, which is out of my color wheel for boots but they work! A muted color so they are very versatile that I feel will match up with everything and make a statement while doing it.

Bye bye boring beige/neutral. not on these feet this winter.

I’m almost mad at how great these winter boots are! I wish I’d had them every winter. They’re comfortable like sneakers, and they’re super warm, to the point where it feels like my feet are heating up the rest of my body.

The thick sole is definitely making it more of a squishy/bouncy walking feeling, rather than an efficient/tight walking feeling, but I don’t really mind — they’re not heavy, and the cushioning seems nice to have.

I’ve been enjoying these so much that several times now I ended up walking much farther than I had been meaning to 🙂 Regarding the size, my feet are pretty wide so on the recommendation of a few reviews here, I sized up half a size and have not regretted this.

I purchased a pair and wore them daily for about 2 months straight on a europe trip (they were my only pair). I don’t think I will be able to wear them next year however. They were great on the fit, waterproofing, sole, and warmth….

until they weren’t. They stretched out so much! I need inserts within the first month so that my feet would stop slipping around, and then I couldn’t wear them without thick socks because the heels kept stretching.

Now, the ankle parts are too stretched out and I would not trust them with snow anymore because they would be very easy to get in the top. When I first got them they were perfect but within this 2-month timeframe they have more than an inch extra spacing on the stretch.

At this price point and brand-name, I was hoping for them lasting more than a season.

I can’t tell you how much I wanted to like these boots. I own many pairs of Merrells – all really comfortable and they wear like iron (finally had to ditch my original boots after about 20 years). These are stylish, look likely to be waterproof, and the foot portion of the boot is very comfortable.

However, the top of the ankle portion digs into my leg. I tried folding down heavy socks as padding and it was still uncomfortable. Alas, they’ll have to go back. I do wish Merrell offered more options in a wide width.

These boots do not perform in any sense of the word for winter use. First, and most importantly, there is positively no warmth to this boot. I can feel the cold concrete through the bottom of the boot.

The rubber upper, meant to provide waterproof protection, literally freezes in the cold. So your entire foot is surrounded by cold. From an insulation standpoint, I truly don’t think these boots would be warm enough for anything below 40 degrees.

Now, as for comfort, there just isn’t any. There’s nothing even resembling a footbed inside. Just hard, flat, smashed lining that is no more comfortable that walking barefoot on solid concrete. The only thing good I can say about the Winter Carnival boots are that they are waterproof.

But that’s what rain boots are for. These provide no more warmth or insulation that a typical, unlined rubber rain boot.

A few years ago I decided it was time to retire my Sorel’s I had since I was 10-12 or 25ish years. Bought these. Use only to walk from house or work to the car and back. Occasionally for walks. Nothing as crazy as when I was young and played in the snow for hours on end.

After 1 season, maybe less, the sole started to wear through on the inside so it is just the empty squares (I bought some liners in so I couldn’t feel pattern of the soles and make it it so I could continue using).

Beginning of this winter season (start of 4th winter of wearing these) found a crack in the top of the foot area so if the liner gets wet when snow touches the boot. Bought flex seal so I can continue wearing them the rest of this winter.

The quality of Sorel seems to have gone down hill. Maybe sorels are now a fashion line instead of a real quality outdoor boot. Will be researching other brands. And I used to recommend Sorel’s to anyone looking for a good quality winter boot.

I always buy Kamik boots for my kids and they are good quality and last a long time (until they outgrow them) and never had any issues with warmth or wetness, etc. So when I needed a new pair of winter boots for myself, I seriously considered Kamik along with Pajar, Ugg, and Merrell.

I hate my Sorels so I didn’t consider them at all. These boots are cute and fine, but they do seem more cheaply made than my kids’ boots. Threads are kinda loose along seams in the fabric of the “tongue” and the lacing system doesn’t do the trick to tightly close the boot because of all the fluff and fur on the inside.

The bottom of the boot inside is very flat (no arch support) and no matter what socks I wear with these boots THE SOCKS ALWAYS COME OFF either while I’m still wearing the boots or when I take the boots off, the socks come off with them! I hate that.

Nothing drives me crazier than a sock coming off inside a boot! They are not easy to get on and off at all because of this. Maybe once theyre worn in a bit and the fluff inside gets flattened, it will stop happening, but.

I’m not excited about these boots like I wanted to be. I should’ve shelled out for the Uggs snow boots.

I found these while searching for a pair of long lasting waterproof snow proof winter boots. I have to say I’m very picky about boots, so when I got these, I was a little disappointed to see they didn’t have a side zipper, but that’s my fault for not reading thoroughly.

The description says leather and suede upper, but that’s only the stripe, the actual majority of the boot is a soft canvas, which isn’t what I was looking for. I wasn’t a huge fan of the shape of them, as they seem to accentuate the widest point of my calf, but overall they’re very nice and they fit well when I tried them on.

They are thick inside so they might feel tight with a thick sock, but they were immediately super warm so a thick sock doesn’t seem really necessary. I haven’t worn them in snow or water, so I can’t speak to that.

I most likely will exchange these for a pair of Merrell tall lace Polar boots that I had wanted but were out of stock.

I was looking for a nice sort of looking boot, but one that was a lot more functional and practical for outdoor winter activities. These have been pretty good so far! I’ve used them for ice fishing and general walking the dog, sledding etc in Ontario 0 to -30 so far and my feet haven’t gotten cold yet.

Great grip on them too which was a significant improvement from my other boots anyway. Tested them on icy frozen sidewalks and roads as well as slushier weather, feet have stayed dry so far. I would recommend to maybe buy half a size up if you can.

I like to wear two pairs of socks cotton and wool especially on colder days and found it a bit snug, but I am slowly trying to stretch them out.

Bought a pair for my Special needs daughter. It’s been a trial trying to find her winter boots that not only are easy for her to put on, that actually fit, and that she’s comfortable with. The other pair that we’d gotten her, although cuter even after I’d modified them so she could put them on, are rarely worn since she’s gotten these.

She can’t zip them all the way up because her feet are just too fat and I’ve cautioned her about breaking the zipper. And I’m not sure why she doesn’t activate the ice grips on the bottom because that was one of the main reasons I choose these.

She hates walking on any slippery surface.

The boots are lovely but are too small in size. I purchased a size 9 W but I really should have ordered a size larger since these boots did not come in 1/2 sizes. I would have returned them but with the shipping price for returning, it wasn’t worth it.

So, I donated them to Vietnam Vets. I am sure someone will be able to wear these.

These boots are the ideal solution for someone with certain physical disabilities, as well as the average person. Some of the negative reviews caused me to hesitate making this purchase, but I’m so glad I did.

I normally wear a Womens Wide width shoe/boot size 9, but that was not an available option. I decided to order the size 9 anyway, but unfortunately it felt snug and uncomfortable in the toe area. I called Customer Service to see if I should order the next size up, or a Mens 9.

The representative took the time to ask her supervisor and look up more specific info about the boots. Although there wasn’t any additional info given from the manufacturer, it was decided that perhaps the Mens size 9 would be slightly wider.

I ordered it and sure enough, it fit perfectly. As luck would have it, a week after my boots arrived (the second pair), I found the same boots with the wide width, additional color option and $5 less, in a different mail-order catalog.

They do have very good traction and are easily cleaned. One concern of these boots was the very intense rubber smell. It has the same smell as a store selling tires and therefore, needed to be aired out an entire week before taking on my trip.

I placed a Dr. Scholls pad on the inside for better comfort.

Bought these as a gift for my partner Size 8 (EU 39), as her last pair of water proof dog walking boots had finally worn out. She absolutley loves them, recent heavy rains meant they have been tested out to the full and not a single drop has made it through.

She was worried about sizing but we stuck to the size of her old boots and they fit perfectly. She normally downsizes (she likes a firm squeeze) but these have little more space than her old boots which she got used to immediately.

Means room for thick sock but she said they are thatwarm she will probably never use a thick sock Thankfully this is a boot that can be washed in the washing machine as they have already been put hrough some boggy walks.

I received my boots on Friday. They are warm and very comfortable, true to size. I loved them the first day of just wearing them around the house. 2nd day I spent a few hours outside, in dry weather, already full of small holes and pulls, seams freying and rubber pulling away from the sole.

I know these are not work boots, but they should last more then a few hours of walking around at a cost of over $100. I would recommend them as slippers for in house wear. They are really warm.

Second pair of Bogs. Loved the first pair of high boots. Fit well and aredelivery was fine easy to put on. This pair. Look good. They do not fit as well as the high boots although they are the same size.

too loose. Have tried 3 different thicknesses of socks and still not right. Also the arch is too far back and is closer to my heel and feels uncomfortable. Would not recommend this style to anyone.

Arctic sport II tall boots A friend recommended muck boots brand. I have had brilliant snow boots in the past, however standing pitch side at kids sporting events over winter, my feet remained frozen by the end of it.

I decided to move away from the snow boot for a broader range boot. I bought the artic sport tall boots and I have to say I am a complete convert and total advocate! My feet and legs are so warm in the cold weather.

You can feel the warmth surrounding your feet and legs with the technology and materials they use in making these boots. Not sure if it can be enhanced further (and maybe this is present in the higher range – which may have to be my next purchase in the future!!) but it would be amazing if muckboot could pop something further into the top of the lining boot to keep the top of the toes even warmer (personal preference as I totally feel the cold!!).

Normal wellies don’t keep the feet warm, they are a piece of rubber offering basic waterproofing to the foot. Muckboots have changed the way people look at wellies! They are more than just a wellie, they are enhanced stylish product design and technology which they have succeeded in covering so many needs of the wearer in winter.

I needed some wellies as where I walk my dogs can be quite wet. I bought the Fitflop one’s as I find their shoes and boots very comfy. They arrived and I was quite disappointed with them. They weren’t comfy and after only a couple of months wear they split and let in water.

I returned them for a refund and didn’t want to waste my money on the same again so I researched other possibilities. I came across the Muck Boots and can safely say they are now my favourite boots. They are really comfortable and you cannot feel stones and other lumps through the sole.

There is lots of room for my wide feet and they are warm and snug even in minus temperatures. They feel very sturdy and remind me a bit of rigger boots. They are great boots for dog walking and I would definitely but another pair.

If you need some great boots then don’t hesitate to buy these.

I don’t know what the cold rating is for these but they’re serious boots for serious cold. I have HORRIBLE circulation in my feet and I’ve always struggled with cold toes. This is my second Canadian winter with these and so far the toes are excellent.

Full disclosure: the factory insoles are “meh” so I removed them and inserted thick shearling insoles, and I always use substantial wool socks (usually a heavyweight Darn Tough over-the-calf). Make no mistake — these are substantial boots for seriously cold temps.

Strolling around the mall is not what these were made for. I wear mine walking the dog on the wooded trails behind our house. My size 13s weigh just a hair less than 3 lbs per boot and they’re 17” tall; they fall about 3” below my kneecap.

This review is not about the boots, its about ordering anything from columbia online. The boots are cute and shipment was fast enough. However, its a little tight and need to get half size up. This is where the problem is.

You can exchange but you will end up paying $21 for shipping fee. $7 for them to ship the boots, $7 to send it back, $7 for the boots in proper size. Considering these days, many larger retailers offer free shipping for order above $100, the boots cost $120, the shipping cost is quite steep.

I ended up ordering the same boots in the right size from Hudson, free shipping. Again, when i tried to return the small boots, i had to drive 1 hour to halton hill ,since columbia closed all stores in city of Toronto.

Still they deducted $7 from my refund. The case is i i ended up with nothing from Columbia and lost $7. You need to be super sure about what you order otherwise you just throw $7 down the drain. Of course if you don,t care, it will not be an issue.

But mysel probably wont order from Columbia online again.

These are SO comfortable – like clouds for your feet! Soft, cozy, good support, waterproof… perfect winter snow boot. If you’re worried about looks, I’d say these also check that box; They look simple and modern maybe the slightest bit “bulky” but that’s because of the extra cush on the interior.

Should also mention, I bought an 8. 5 based on recommendations to half size up and I think that was the right call; half size allows me to wear thick socks if need be. Hands down, best snow boots I’ve ever owned!.

These boots are EXACTLY what I was looking and hoping for. I have 3 different styles of OrthoFeet shoes – tennis shoes, sandals & slippers. I was hoping these boots would have the same fantastic comfort, and they absolutely do.

I have plantar fasciitis and OrthoFeet shoes are just what I need. These Alps boots are lightweight, comfortable and nice looking, as well as functional on the snow. They have a zipper, which means you can adjust the fit with the shoelaces, but then use the zipper to take them on & off.

When I ordered them, I did not know about the zipper because their website says NOTHING about it. I remember thinking that the only thing that would make them better would be if they had a zipper. You can imagine my surprise & delight when I got them and saw a zipper! I think OrthoFeet missed a great marketing opportunity there, because the zipper is a VERY positive feature.

I called their customer support and suggested they update their website to add a picture of the zipper and to mention it. I highly recommend these boots – and all their shoes.

The comfort is there but it doesn’t keep feet warm. It could use some softening in the ankle area. Good for standing or walking. The waterproof feature is why I bought them. I have the Florence model boot in black that has faux fur at the ankle and a suede boot making it a warmer choice.

These are nice in snow. I would love a warmer higher model. I also have two other OrthoFeet styles of shoes. They are the best!.

I am a 9. 5 and this fit true to size, although there was not any room for a cushioned sock, so I would have sized up if I kept them. I wanted to like them, they are attractive and the side zipper was really appealing.

I returned them because: 1) I was comparing this boot to the Oboz Andesite Mid Insulated Boots, and those felt warmer, and more comfortable out of the box 2) The side zip i expected to potentially rub on my ankle.

It didn’t; it was designed well in that respect. But the zip I also expected to (when unzipped) allow me to remove my foot. It does not, you still need to unlace the boots 3) The insulation on the boot can be felt in between the leather and the inside.

But it seems less thick near the toes, which is where my feel tend to be cold in the winter. That, plus walking around in them vs the Oboz, my toes felt warmer in the Oboz. Last, (& just FYI, because it’s always hard to know from online pictures) the color of this boot is exactly as it appears on the REI website, like a dark tan.

I was wary about buying hiking boots online but I’d heard great things about Danner and really wanted to try them for my next pair. The sizing is perfect, not too wide and my narrow heels doesn’t slip.

I love the boot height, which will be great for ankle support when hiking. They’ve become my go-to boot since they arrived, so certainly versatile. Minor points are that the laces are slightly long, but nothing a double bow can’t handle.

Like someone reviewing the men’s version, I’m not sure what the point of the side zipper is. I unlace from the top two eyelets, so maybe the side zip helps with not needing to loosen the entire boot, but apart from that, J don’t have any complaints.

You’ll never want to take these off!.

This boot it terrific for snowy and icy days, but a few comments: 1. The side zip doesn’t allow you to take the boot off without undoing the laces (unless it is laced very loosely), and the laces will fall off the top hooks anyway.

So think of the zip as helping you to more quickly lace them up rather than making them into slip-on / slip-off shoes. 2. The fabric fold inside the zipper can feel a little uncomfortable on your inner ankle.

If I were walking several miles then I imagine it would start to rub and cause blisters. It is fine for shorter walks in the snow 3. The sole is super-sticky on snow and ice. I watched friends slip all over the place and I was rock solid 4.

The boots are *very* warm. Great for walking outside, but they may become a little too warm if you are inside a well heated room. 5. They are just higher than the ankle, and so won’t stop snow from getting into your boot if you are trudging through 8+ inches of fresh snow.

unless you were a gaiter. 6. They are really attractive (I have them in brown suede with red laces) – I get lots of positive comments. Altogether, these are great boots and perfect for what I was seeking.

But don’t convince yourself that these are good long-distance hiking boots – the fabric fold will be a little too uncomfortable.

Although these boots are waterproof, have a good sole to prevent slipping on ice and slushy snow & the side zipper is great for easy off and on, the boots are so short, they get filled with snow, when there is more than a few inches of snow on the ground.

Plus, there isn’t a warm insulated lining. Even with two pairs of winter weight socks, my feet were freezing in temperatures in the teens and lower. The boots are fine if you stay on cleared walkways and the temperature is above freezing.

I LOVE this shoe! These are so comfortable! Due to the memory foam they are a little snug at first, but they soon conform to your feet. The easy slip on, slip off style of shoe is great, but the best part is how comfortable they are.

I loved them so much I immediately ordered a second pair in a different color. Now my daughter is trying to take them from me! 😀 Just get them, you won’t regret it.

I think another review commented that across the bridge of your foot the boot is tight And the seam by the toes can feel a little odd on your foot. I normally wear a 10 sometimes a 10 1/2, but rarely and 11.

In this boot I’m keeping the 11 because the 10 is just too tight across the bridge of the foot and I was having some issues zipping it up. Overall lovely boot and I’ve already worn them to shovel snow.

The traction is great.

Quite disappointed in this purchase which I sent back straight away. I had ordered these same boots from here a few years ago which I loved and the new ones just don’t live up to the same standard! The quality feels cheap and the fur lining doesn’t even match the photo anymore.

The material feels very thin compared to my old ones and the trim around the top just looks unfinished. I have ordered the same boots from elsewhere and they are very much the same as my old ones so not sure what’s happened to the quality through snowleader.

I bought these a month ago to go skiing, and they were perfect for the cold weather. The boot really hugs your foot so is super comfy, and the grip on the bottom of the shoes meant i didnt slip around in the ice.

One flag is that you need to wear long socks/ no bare ankles. I went out Apres Skiing and got quite bad friction burns from the top of the boot. They are however a great addition and i now wear them around the house as slippers when not in the snow.

Cute and ok size but my heel doesn’t stay in the boot, no matter how hard i pull the ropes, so would be impossible to walk comfortably in. They don’t look as cute when you tie them too hard either. Plastic.

Not waterproof at all. So I return these and buy som real winterboots from Sorel instead.
