20 Best Winter Hat For Men (2023 Updated)

Purchased a few weeks back after an extensive search for a hat with ear coverage/flaps. The materials are good, but the fit was not ideal. Over four inches of space on top even with the hat sufficiently pulled down.

Another minor gripe: the grey color has a slightly dirty look to it because of a brownish undertone.

I have a blaze orange beanie and over all it looks fine and fits good. The sewn on patch in the front is placed unevenly with the top seams, so if you were to wear it correctly with the seams inline with your head the patch is off center.

Kinda sloppy. It’s not made in the USA so it helps keep the price down and the CCP in business. There’s already some pilling around the fold and I’ve only been wearing it for this one winter so far. My biggest complaint is that it’s really not that warm.

Not even close to wind proof so any breeze blows right through the material, even with it folded up over my ears. It’s no better than any Walmart brand hat for a 1/3 the price. This, in short, is a cheap hat with a Carhartt patch to validate your hipster card.

It does fit good and it’s comfy, but there’s no way I’d buy another one. All thigs considered, it’s just not a valid winter hat because it’s just not warm. Up State NY is a legit winter wonderland and people expect more than this thing provides.

I’ve been a longtime shopper of Carhartt and have gone through several of their knit beanies. But as fast as I buy them I lose them, so I’m always needing to buy new it seems. I’m so disappointed in the latest iterations of this classic item! Has anyone else notice the weird new fit? There is so much excess fabric that sticks up off my head even when I pull the hat down just above my eyes! This never happened before, the fit used to be absolutely perfect! Has anyone from Carhartt acknowledged the switch? I know I’m not the only one who has noticed and is disappointed.

Im hoping some plan is in the works to bring the old fit back, even as a separate item in addition to this new, more “trendy” style. Would love to hear from someone at Carhartt!!.

I’ve been wearing less on my morning runs for the last month. Temperature outside has been between freezing and 12°f. Pros & Cons: -Comfort: put it on when I first got it. It was a little itchy. That was my fault though.

Always wash stuff like this before you put it on. Other than that, super comfortable. Stretchy enough to always have a snug fit in flexible enough to go over balaclavas, gaters, and ball caps. -Warmth: super warm.

I was shocked by how warm this thing is. When it gets in the 30s I don’t even bother wearing it. But anything below 30 it keeps me nice and toasty without getting too sweaty. -Design: It’s a classic knit camp.

I purchase the brite lime. The material is not reflective but the green is so bright that it almost gives off its own glow. I would still recommend wearing other reflective gear if running in the dark but this hat is definitely a great addition that adds a ton of visibility if wearing one of the bright colors.

Bought this hat in blaze orange to be visible while hiking during winter hunting season. While hiking up hill the hat is too hot, but I found that if I turned it backwards it sat high on top of my head it left enough room to ventilate the heat.

While not moving it was lovely for below freezing temperatures. Ears, neck and head were all warm. Camped at 10F and it kept my head comfy the whole night. Extremely well made, quality product. Regarding sizing- I measured my head with a flexible tape measure and the size on the size chart was a perfect fit.

I bought 3 sizes. 7, 7⅛ and 7¼. All technically fit if I wasn’t being picky. 7 was my measured size. Fit like it was made for my head, but I was afraid that it’d be too snug over time (sweat and wool maybe shrink).

7⅛ was goldilocks fit perfectly but left just enough room for no brain squeeze. I ultimately choose the 7¼ because it stayed on my head in big wind gusts but also left room for ponytails and a balaclava.

You know prepared for really cold weather. Mossejaw was amazing with customer service. Highly recommend this hat.

After considering the photos, text in the catalog listing, reputation of the manufacturer, being made in the USA, availability in numerous specific sizes, and the price, I expected to receive a superior replacement for a 25 year old warn-out insulated winter hat.

I carefully measured my head several times before selecting the proper size to order. Once in my hands, and on my head, the Stormy Kromer turned out to be considerably thinner, a much tighter fit, and much less insulating than I expected.

It appears to be well sewn and fashionable (not one of my priorities), but a far cry from what I expected, especially for the price. I see it as a suitable early fall general purpose hat albeit outrageously expensive for that purpose, but my search for a suitable winter hunting hat has not been met with the Stormy Kromer.

Bought the blaze orange for hunting hat, but either the wax dulls the BLAZE or it is just not a great blaze orange fabric to start. Great hat, just needs to be brighter or thicker material, so take a look at it in person before buying if you want it blaze.

Great hat, love the waxed cotton idea just needs better execution. My wool blaze orange is brighter and it is 10 years old.

Our daily lives in the winter is taking care of cattle which means going out in the snow, wind and cold to feed them and make sure they have water. My daughter would love to come out and help but, because she would easily get cold it was difficult to come out in the extreme cold.

After purchasing the cap not only has she been helping more, she has been eager to get going from day to day. She stays much warmer and she adores the flower. It’s a durable cap yet stylish at the same time.

I bought this hat because I like the vintage hunting/outdoor style. This hat is very warm and the ear protectors pull-down nicely when the snow and wind are blowing. The front bill is just enough to keep the sun out of your eyes.

I would definitely buy this hat again and would absolutely give this hat as a gift.

This hat is long enough to keep your head and ears warm. I bought 3 orange hats to have options. This is my least favorite of the three. It is a usuefull hat for chilly weather, but the Carhartt 2 in 1 hat is better for out in the woods.

The Ariat knit has is similar to this but warmer and better. The Ariat has thinsulate insulation added and is much warmer than this one. The Arial also blocks the wind better. This one is OK in the very cold if you put a hood up over it and then the orange color is mostly hidden which defeats the purpose.

I just received a Carhartt vest for a Christmas gift so wanted to get a Carhartt warm winter beanie hat to go with the vest. I was very pleased about the quality of the hat and being fleece makes it even warmer.

Fit was good on my head and it looks styling with my vest so very happy about the purchase. I wasn’t sure about the color since it was discontinued and the price was discounted but is a nice blue that will not be outdated next year.

I would not recommend this fleece hat for warmer weather since you will get too hot. I live in Michigan so works out great for our cold winters. I hope this helped your purchase decision.

So tomorrow’s actual temperature will be negative 14 degrees. I can sleep soundly knowing my hat will keep me toasty. One Customer commented on the weird part in the fur in front. While mine has a small part, I can see that the hat in their online photo is far worse, so definitely some of them have that weird part in the front fur.

So if your looks are most important than being warm, keep looking. If functionality: fit, ease of getting hat on and off, adjustable chin strap, ear flaps, and just plain being warm on super-cold days are what matters, then this is the hat to buy; with or without a weird part.

Worth every penny in my opinion. Note that I feel it’s a bit small, despite having a average sized head, but maybe it’s supposed to fit like that in order to trap out cold air.

I walk through all weather. This is a nice, warm hat. I have an average size head and it fits well. It is not super snug and the chin strap slips easily out of adjustment. I think the plastic gadget to hook the hat it a little tricky.

not my favorite part of an otherwise favorite hat. Warm without being itchy. I walk in some nasty wind. My facemask works well under it. Not a great fit with the flaps up, feels loose. Still happy with it.

I saw this faux fur hood on a Lands End model and it looked really cute but what I needed was something to keep my head, ears and cheeks warm while walking my dog, ChiChi. I’m absolutely thrilled with the hood and even let my husband wear it—-it fits both of us perfectly.

My husband saw ads for these all over the place and added them to his birthday list. He sweats more than the average human and many of his hats show sweat through the band quickly. He is wearing hats much more now that his hair is thin and he gets sunburnt or cold in the fall/spring.

Some will say these hats are expensive, but you get what you pay for – value. You can buy 3/4 other hats and destroy them and this hat will still outlast those. He took this one on a week-long trip to Disney in July after having worn it for a couple of months.

The inner band started to show some dirt from the sunscreen fingers had added some dirt to the brim. He washed it in the sink with warm water and soft soap and it was good as new. These quality hats are worth the investment.

I just wanted to share my experience from yesterday and the last year of owning a Melin hat. I was given 2 as a gift. I had some sweat stains on the one I wear to workout in and I couldn’t get them to come out.

I called customer service, they were slammed do I pressed * fir them to call me back. Which they did. I had the pleasure of talking to Sharmin Hakim. She helped look up the account and confirm the hats gifted to me despite me not purchasing them.

Melin and Sharmin answered all my questions and took awesome care of me. That kind of customer service makes a $70 hat well worth it. I normally trash a Richardson 112 in about 2-3 months in the gym.

Great hat for winter time in Minnesota. I used this hat for snow blowing my drive way, ice fishing, and working outside. Quality material that fits around my head very comfortably. Another great Milwaukee product.

Brand new, just out from Milwaukee Tools. Great knit hat with a very nice fleece liner sewed inside. Very warm, very comfortable.

I’m a Delivery/Will Call Driver and this beanie is great to wear during cold weather. I was going to buy all 3 different colors at Home Depot until I saw that they were $25 each. When I went online to see if I could buy them for less, they were between $15- $18 at Home Depot, so I returned and showed the cashier the price discrepancy between their in store and online prices.

Had a great buying experience with 10th Street Hats. It’s a beautiful looking hat. The quality is fantastic. I purchased this for myself as a late Christmas present. It looks great. It can be worn in either a professional setting or in a casual setting.

Shoes look and feel wonderful, but the size feels off nearly a whole size. I usually wear a 9 in Nike Jordans, but I ordered an 8 in these dress sandals and they have almost a whole inch left in the toe.

Nervous about returning them and getting a smaller size, so I think im going to keep the ones I bought(2 pair of the Calleo in black and blanc) because ordering a size 7 just seem right?!.

I have owned this hat for about 3 weeks, and really like it. but I don’t love it. The hat is soft and comfortable, and feels great when you first pull it on over your ears. BUT, it slides up. I have another UA hat that has a different material on the inside that is “grippy”, and holds the hat in place.

Again, the hat itself is very nice and the cost ($22) was not over the top. I wore it to shovel snow the other day, and actually came in and changed hats because it kept sliding up leaving my ears exposed.

**Please note, I have a shaved head, so that may help it slide, lol. But why not put the grippy material in all the hats??.

I’m finally on my second duckbill after 3 hard years and countless miles trail running, hiking and working with my first. It wasn’t even worn out, I sadly left it in a field. It’s ideal for all sorts of adventuring and as it can be stuffed into any space without it deforming, it’s brilliant for travel.

The only real improvement would be to have it come in a darker mesh and a wider range of colours. For all the rugged uses its suitable for, white is not really practical, and if you’re needing to wear it for a coffee in town later it sometimes doesn’t look so sharp.

Earthy tones would be wicked – greens, ocean blues, burnt orange, black, like some of Patagonia’s other caps. And a highly reflective one for those of us who run next to traffic on our way to the trailhead too.

Def keep these classic colorways but fresh colours too. Apart from that I love the design, and it remains my go to for adventuring. It’s important to me that Patagonia is more transparent than other companies, and has a mission of protecting the wild places their products are made for, rather than just taking, taking and contributing to their degradation.

I got this hat after a LOT of searches for running hats that fit big heads. I LOVE the style, comfort and colour (I got mint green and it’s gorgeous). The trucker style is a bit more forgiving than lower-profile hats that perch on top of my noggin, but I would say this runs a little small relative to regular trucker hats – I have the adjustment on this maxed out, but often use the second-biggest adjuster on hats with a plastic back.

Not sure whether it shrank a smidge in the wash or my hair’s just getting longer and taking up more room, but a month in it does feel a bit less secure on my head. I would buy five of these tomorrow if they came in a bigger size, though!.

I bought this hat primarily for running. I pound the pavement about 20-25 miles a week, usually in 6 to 8 mile increments. I wanted a hat that would keep the sun off my face, feel light, endure a lot of wear, and travel well.

The duckbill trucker exceeded my expectations and is now my favorite hat. In fact, I want to buy another one in a different color. Here’s why it’s a great hat: 1. Functionality – like any hat this one keeps the sun off your mug, but it also has a built in sweatband to keep perspiration from flooding your face.

I sometimes run in 90 degree weather and the sweatband is a must. Also, the bill can be folded and packed away then spring back into shape, so the hat can be crammed into a backpack without worry of ruining it.

2. Comfort – the bill of the hat is especially light which keeps it from weighing you down. The adjustable strap is also easy enough for mid-run adjustments without slippage. It doesn’t feel like a “running hat” it’s just light and comfortable.

I find myself wearing it all the time. 3. Durability – this hat gets a sunbaked sweatbath 4 times a week and it looks great. I get a little discoloration on the white netting of the hat but a toss it in the washer brightens it up.

3. Style – although I bought this hat for running, not expecting to use it for anything else, it’s now my go-to for all outdoojr activity. I have a larger head (7 3/8″ fitted) so I was afraid this would look a little small but it doesn’t.

It does have a lower profile top than a lot of classic truckers, but I think it looks good. I don’t know why but I expected the bill to be shorter, but it’s the same size as an average baseball hat. If you need a great hat buy this one, buy two because you’ll want to wear it so much you’ll need multiple color options.
