While there are many fad diets that come and go, there is one weight loss method that has stood the test of time: calorie restriction. And while cutting back on calories can be difficult, a new study suggests that drinking wine may help.
The study, which was conducted by researchers at the University of Reading in the UK, found that resveratrol, a compound found in red wine, can help to boost metabolism and burn fat.
Resveratrol is a type of polyphenol, which is a plant compound that has antioxidant properties. Polyphenols are believed to have a range of health benefits, including the ability to improve heart health and reduce the risk of certain cancers.
While previous studies have shown that resveratrol can help to improve metabolism, the new study is the first to show that it can also help to burn fat.
To reach their findings, the researchers conducted a series of experiments on mice. The first experiment showed that resveratrol helped to increase the amount of energy the mice burned.
The second experiment showed that resveratrol also helped the mice to burn more fat. And the third experiment showed that resveratrol helped to reduce the amount of fat that was stored in the mice.
Based on their findings, the researchers believe that resveratrol could help to improve weight loss in humans. However, they cautioned that more research is needed to confirm their findings.
So, if you’re looking to lose weight, you may want to consider adding a glass of wine to your diet. Just be sure to drink in moderation and don’t go overboard.

Overall, a very smooth and drinkable wine. I enjoyed it from start to finish. The cherry and raspberry notes were quite evident as well as the subtle vanilla flavor which bridged them together in such a nice and seamless way.
I was relaxing and listening to some of my favorite music while savoring the likeable uniqueness of this wine. I started licking the inside of my cheeks and smiling in between sips while enjoying the total experience of drinking this wine Surely, this wine is worth visiting again, and no doubt, I will soon!.
Not your typical Pinot or red. It has a very smooth almost sweet taste. No idea if the carbs and if added sugar but Pinots are supposed to be low carb. My wife doesn’t like red wine but loved this one.
I usually o my drink reds and still loved, it’s just sweeter than a typical.

This wine give me heartburn/makes me gag it’s nothing like it describes on the bottle. Do not buy this wine unless you’re looking for a headache. Maybe I’m biased because my family owns a winery and our Pinot Noir so much better but this wine is absolutely disgusting and tastes like vinegar.
Would not recommend!!! It has no legs and does not taste like cherry at all.
For the price, it’s a decent Pinot Noir; are there better? definitely. One of our week night wines, we always have bottles on hand. Weekends, that’s a different topic altogether.
I have to say I was surprised by this red wine. It is a wine that wasn’t expensive, but tasted better than some bottles that were 4x more expensive. This is a wine I would not feel bad opening for my guests at a party.
They would probably be surprised by it also. I would definitely buy it again!.

IšverstiShow in original languageI’m a big fan of Prisoner Red Blend and grabbed this based on the incredible reviews. I think this wine is terrible. I’d rather have a $9 bottle of 19 Crimes. There is no depth at all.
This tastes like acidic water. Really disappointed.
IšverstiShow in original languageMy favorite wine is The Prisoner Red Blend. Recently picked this up, always eager to try something from The Prisoner (Saldo Zin is also spot on). Great cab, easy to drink.
Nice hints of blackberry. If you plan on sharing with more than 1 person, grab another bottle.
IšverstiShow in original languageSo very disappointed. This is not the quality of a Prisoner wine,, I would never buy this wine again. There is NO complexity,. It’s extremely boring and a very flat wine, No effort was made in the wine making of this wine.
Not the quality of a Dave Phinney wine. I would not drink this wine for my every day come home from work wine, I expected more from the wine maker. Your loyal clients deserve more.

Wow, What a Great Suprise!! I totally Loved each and every wine made by FitVine! And its true, I didn’t experience any headaches or after effects commonly experienced from typical wines and their unhealthy additives, sulfites, chemicals, etc.
I could truly taste the difference, so crisp, clean, fresh and fruity! My favorites in order would probably have to be as follows: RED: 1) Cabernet Sauvignon 2) Pinot Noir WHITES: I would have a hard time picking there as so completely different and Loved Both! But if I had to chose probably 1) Chardonnay 2) Sauvignon Blanc! If you’re at all hesitating, you really need to just DO IT.
You will be happy you did! I have shared this info with several friends and they’re as equally as excited as I as about the FitVine Wines! Thank you FitVine for creating such a superb wine that surpasses many others on the market.
You should be very PROUD!! You deserve more than “5” Stars!! :>).
I grew up just south of wine country in California. My Mom loved good wines and always looked for the best wines to serve guests. I grew up with a bit of a palate for wines and I am really picky. So, when I saw the FitVine products I was really skeptical.
I’ve tried other wines that are lower in alcohol or sugar and they never taste like good wine AND no matter how much they try to convince you they are never dry (they are sweet). This wine was the exception.
I ordered the Sauvignon Blanc and fully expected to end up using it for cooking but instead I found it to be delicious and quite dry! It has a nice dry fruit taste up front with a tiny touch of steely back taste.
It is not the lightest Sauvignon Blanc I’ve had but it has excellent balance. I’ll be ordering more! Thanks FitVine!.
Rhiannon’ Red Wine The Rhiannon is fairly intense on the nose with plenty of red fruits, raspberries and red currants, over a base of smoky, toasty, lead pencil oak. A pleasant surprise on the palate with a bright, transparent light mouth feel.
There’s a fair amount of oak, lightly toasty and adding plenty of vanilla to the palate, but at the same time this does show nice red berry fruit and red plum skin flavors. The tannins are relatively unobtrusive on the palate, with a juicy acidity, but the mocha tinged finish highlights a little wood tannin, as the fruit lacks some persistence.
✨ Well, everyone who knows me knows that I am a Cocobon FREAK! ☕️ For such a beautiful price and beautiful wine, you cant beat it. Anyone who knows me, also knows that I am a Fleetwood Mac / Stevie Nicks fanatic.
🌱💃 🍇 So, with that being said. My friend @jessiikkerrrr recommended this wine to me and I immediately fell in love with the name of the wine (one of my favorite FM songs) and the bottle aesthetic. 🤩 SWOONWORTHY!!!! •• It.
Is. Easily. A. Competitor. For. Cocobon. What the heck. •• I never thought I’d see the day. 🍇 Oaky smooth, this wine is so easy to drink. It goes down beautifully. Dark berries caramel really balance out this wine.
The finish is absolutely brilliant. Fully loaded, jammy, and I just have to mention the oak again. 🤤🤤 🚨 BE CAREFUL • EASILY COULD DRINK A WHOLE BOTTLE!! SOS SAVE OUR SAM 🚨 ℝℍ𝕀𝔸ℕℕ𝕆ℕ • California • 14.
This wine is a great wine for an evening with friends. Not too dry, and pairs easily. We got a glass while stopping to listen to some jazz at a little coffee and wine bar. We loved it so much we ordered a case, and I imagine it won’t be our first.
This wine is very pleasant to drink as a daily happy hour wine. One of the best wine values I’ve found in my 60 years of experience. I believe this is about my 8th case purchase.

This wine is one of my favorites for parties. Not one I particularly care to drink as a top choice a bit drier fornmy taste but over all my guests seem to enjoy the taste of the bottle. No matter as long as they enjoy it then we are good to keep purchasing.
This wine is great. Tastes great and not too expensive. Great packaging! It is so cute. I like that they include a picture of a grape on the label so we remember where it comes from. Great for parties, and I would recommend to others at the drop of a hat.
Better then yellowtail.. (For the money)… No oak finish like Mark West, my fav?.. But 5 bucks ? Rate at 83 Oh buy the way. Blueberry hints in this wine
The creator of Belle Glos brings together the best fruit from Monterey, Sonoma, and Santa Barbara counties for a full-bodied fruit-bomb that’s stunning with grilled salmon, pork ribs or mushroom pizza.
The color of this wine is a deep red, suggesting a highly extracted Pinot Noir. The nose is fruity & a little jammy, with cherry, black fruits, like blackberry, with whiffs of cassis. The palate is again dark fruits like black berry.
Cherry is also present with an herbal quality noticeable on the right palate with bay leaf & oregano. The finish is long replete with dark fruits and herbs. This wine is worth every penny. Rhone varietal drinkers & Cabernet drinkers should also like this wine.
Bought this in-store upon recommendation from a friendly total wine rep working the vino section – she highlighted the Vennstone as a #3 best seller in the category. I described my rookie wine palate preferring lighter fruit-forward Pinots like Testarossa.
In response was again told the Vennstone would fit the bill at a lower price tag. Saved opening the fancy looking bottle for a Friday. turns out not so classy once I removed the cover from what I thought was a traditional cork – it was a twist top! yikes.
My friend told me to hold judgement as the days of twist top wines being the mark of bargain basement jugs are a thing of the past. Well she was wrong. in fact I had a cheapo bottle of Trader Joe’s wine on hand & decided to do a side by side comparo.
not sure if I got lucky with an exceptionally well sorted 7 dollar bottle of Trader Joe’s red blend special or a bad batch of Vennstone but this Pinot is absolute trash. Moral of the story – if you’re the kind of person who knows what you like in wine, stick with your tried & true playlist (don’t defer to other folks’ recommendation on something this subjective).
even though it’s only 20 bucks, this one is definitely not worth being “adventurous” with. so gross.
This wine haz lots of dark fruit hints of vanilla and other spices! Its acidity is medium and the finish is short. If you like a balance towards the fruit but not fruit foward this wine is well priced and a great match.
It carries the alcohol well, nothing is excessive in it. Great wine for its price range. If you love more minerality terroir this is not your style until it ages 4 to 8 years. It has that potential.

IšverstiShow in original languageThis Merlot for me is so balanced for my taste, and in my terms is very smooth, rich, and is right where I want a drinking wine to be. The junction point between dry and sweet is not even recognizable to me, it is so subtle that it leave me with just the pleasure of the experience of enjoyment.
It is only now writing this that I realize the comfort I feel having recently found this, (in a closer liquor/wine shop to me at 5$ more per bottle)but is something I never put into words. I have purchased many bottles after finding that my favorite wine seller (Total Wine) stocks this (added bonus, 5$ less) that I now order cases.
As I started this review off with “for ME” I speak for my taste, I would hope that this description would strike an understanding for those willing to have a similar experience.
IšverstiShow in original languageSoft mocha covered cherry – but not in a sweet way – in an elegant way. I made a grilled duck breast, salad with cherry vinaigrette, buttered potatoes and a side of creamy, cheesy, zucchini.
This wine was amazing with the meal – and even after dinner sipping it alone. Great wine!.
IšverstiShow in original languageThis wine is excellent for the price. Very smooth and very drinkable. Frankly, better than the J Lohr Cab, in my opinion, as most people don’t believe that a Merlot can compete with a Cab.
This one can! Just very tasty for the $10-12 range.
10% off 12 bottles or more. It is a decadent red blend that combines soft red fruit flavors with notes of caramel for a velvety smooth wine experience. Lead by Petite Sirah and Pinot Noir the blend highlights ripe berry flavors complemented by cherry notes, finishing with a velvety smooth mouthfeel.
A decent Apothic wine amongst it’s lineup, and worth a try for the price. Maybe because Apothic has a number of wines often available together, it makes this and others a bit less desirable. Crush is a completely drinkable red, but when pitted against it’s siblings, Inferno and Pinot Noir, it isn’t particularly distinct.
Mild fruit and tannin come through, but again, basic. If you’ve not had it, and you find it on sale, try it out. If you have to choose between Crush or Inferno (often seen together), get Inferno. Pinot Noir would be my second favorite after Inferno.
This was a surprising discovery for me. It’s a well balanced red blend, I drank a 2015 which seems to be a good year. Definitely on the dryer side without being overloaded with tannins. It’s a nice garnet color, fruity smelling, but not overly fruity on the tongue.
There are definitely notes of chocolate to it. If you like pinot noirs on the dryer side this is definitely a good wine. I love it with a nice cheese board. It’s what I consider a Tuesday wine, but definitely wouldn’t be ashamed to bring it as a hostess gift.
I am not a big fan of wine and I hate dry wine. So, keep that in mind while reading my review. I have tried a few cheap wines since I loathe beer and buying what I need for mixed drinks gets pricey. I hated white zinfandel, tasted like sour grapes.
Pink moscato wasn’t too bad, much less sour grape taste. I love sweet stuff. So, I tried this based on the reviews. It’s a “meh” for me. Yeah, it’s fairly sweet, there’s no grapes gone bad taste and it’s not a dry wine at all, but I don’t love it.
End of the day; you earned it. Celebrate with less sugar and no flavor additives without sacrificing a robust, full-bodied celebration in a glass. This blend (15% Merlot, 25% Petite Syrah and 60% Syrah) doesn’t sacrifice flavor, just sugar (along with calories and flavor additives).

I ordered two different cases of wine. Each case came in cardboard boxes, which I will recycle. The bottles were entirely surrounded by thick styrofoam, similar to the pre-environmentally conscious packaging of electronics.
I can not recycle this styrofoam in my town. It filled my entire trash container. I had to split it into two weeks of trash service so that I could still dispose of my other household trash. I have sent two messages to Fit Vine regarding their packaging and received no response.
Dry Farm Wines ships their wine with molded cardboard instead of styrofoam!.
Please keep the Holiday Blend as a regular red blend. I usually drink your cabernet and pinot noir wines (I try to only drink low sulfite wines because I really feel the difference in the morning when I drink regular wines) and this Holiday blend is by far the best taste wise.
Please keep it as a red blend available year round. I bought 2 bottles to try it over Christmas with friends and then drove back to Sprouts afterwards to buy the few bottles they had left.
the wine was good but after only having one glass I had a terrible headache in morning. the other wines I ordered did same thing so I am not sure what is different in wine compared to regular store bought but I never experienced such headache as with this one.
This wine is a blend of Zinfandel, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petite Sirah that together create a wine with complex structure, ripe tannins, fresh red and dark berry flavors and a hint of creme de cassis.
The winemaker has created a harmonious artisanal blend.
This was recommended by a sales person as they walked by me offering unsolicited advice. Said they had finally gotten it back in stock and it’s a staff favorite. Any staff pick has historically been terrible from this place.
And this time wasn’t any different—the staff must have subpar tastes because this wine is just awful—no matter price point. I typically drink higher price point bottles, but this trip I even purchased a 7.
99 bottle that was far better. Lesson learned—the sales people probably have quotas to get bad bottles off the shelves. Won’t be going with their suggestions again. No depth, no flavor, bitterness—just flat bad.
I bought this to share on Mother’s Day, as so many mom’s spend much time at the “kitchen sink”! It was fantastic! I love red blends and this one did not disappoint! I especially like a wine that does not need a food compliment because sometimes you just want a drink!.

This wine is amazing, and zero sulfites!! I’ve been drinking wine for decades and love French Bordeaux wines. I stopped drinking them for no other reason than the heavy pesticide use. I expect better from French wine makers.
Our daily red has many distinguished notes expected from blended reds. It’s a bit up front on the finish, but it has wonderful style and I love the black fruit flavor. It’s a great light style red.
all the snobs out there who pay $8 for a very drinkable wine and then critique it like your in Bourdeax at a wine tasting, give me a break. a very decent wine for the money. no sulfites and organic. nothing fancy but a great drinkable wine at a very reasonable price.
Description above says “fresh, blackberry, cherry, medium-bodied”. That’s a pretty fair description. I would emphasize the cherry. A bit tart at first. Easy to drink after first few sips, though. I would be happy with this as my everyday wine.
I’ve really been put off by the lack of information about what actually goes into wine. My recent move to organics was triggered when I tasted a bottle of Apothic that was way over the top, didn’t taste natural; like artificial oak flavoring had been added.
Absolutely no way to tell, given current labeling requirements.
Features enticing aromas of Bing cherry, dark chocolate, clove, and roastedfig. Persistent flavors of ripe raspberry, boysenberry, pomegranate, and vanilla linger harmoniously, for a smooth and luscious finish.

Always a favorite. Smooth and tasty. My wife, who struggles with reds especially that have a lot of tannins, is able to enjoy this. Not cheap, but certainly not nearly as expensive as seemingly comparable wines.
We stock up at home, as it’s become our go-to wine. We keep buying wines much more expensive to compare but always come back to this. There’s a reason it’s one of the most popular wines. Enjoy!.
Three Thieves Pinot Noir Red Wine showcases the varietal’s most beautiful qualities. Beautiful violet and fresh cherry aromas lead to raspberry and juicy cherry flavors with hints of berry jam and toasty oak on the palate.
Medium bodied, this generous fruity wine has a silky texture balanced by mouthwatering acidity. This California wine has received Top 100 Best Buys by Wine Enthusiast in 2017, 2018 and 2019. This silky red wine pairs exceptionally well with rich and creamy cheese such as brie and gorgonzola, as well as lamb and pork.
Approachable and enjoyable in style, this wine embodies the classic California vibe. Grapes are sourced from California, specifically Lodi and Coastal appellations. It includes small amounts of Syrah and Petite Verdot for additional structure.
Gentle fermentation with French and American oak lends body to this dry red wine Pinot Noir. This bottled wine has 13. 7% alcohol by volume. The Three Thieves believe that great wine is not a pleasure reserved for kings, but rather a privilege of life something for everyone to enjoy.

I’ve had better pinot but not at this price. As an every day pinot this is unbeatable. I also wouldn’t be in a mad rush to drink the wine before it goes over the hill. There is enough tannin to sustain this wine for a year or maybe two.
My only caution is that this is a California Pinot Noir and you have to like the style. It lacks the finesse of Willamette Valley Oregon Pinot, and you wouldn’t mistake it for a 1966 Chambertin but at the price it’s a darn fine wine.
This is usually a great wine. I don’t know if it was because it was shipped during the summer and went through a heat or not but it was not quite as good as usual.
Notes of ripe red fruit, spice and light tobacco illuminate this smooth and full-bodied Italian red blend. The taste is long lasting, with a hint of cherry jam complementing its slight sweetness.
My Uncle who is of proud Sicilian ancestry gave a bottle of this to me and suggested that I might enjoy it. Well, certainly I am! Although I have a palate that is attuned to Sonoma and Napa wines (having lived there) I do appreciate varied styles and qualities.
This wine brings forth the imaginings of being in the warmth of a Mediterranean summer day sitting at the large family table outdoors listening to the kids play and the adults banter while quaffing a delightful wine without fuss and dabbing at olives and prosciutto, not to mention some lovely and perhaps savory goat or sheep cheese, and crackers touched with rosemary.
Get the picture? – this is a fun wine, not one to be serious about. Prost.
This Italian IGT field blend is a dark purple/violet; sweet nose of red/black plums; full bodied with a tannic grip that holds things together; “applesauce sweet” up front and mid-palate, tart on the sides; honeysuckle and oaky vanilla in the background; pleasantly complex for the price point; lengthy finish if you care about that sort of thing; a rare treat, unlike anything I’m familiar with; pair with charcoal broiled anything!.
This is a very nice wine. Elegant and smooth. Big but not overwhelming. Don’t believe the one and two star reviews- this is a very nice, quality wine. Even though it is the same grape that is Zinfandel in California, the flavor profile is nothing like that.
Very deep and flavorful with dark fruit and cigar box notes.

Ripe fruit aromas of black cherry and currant are accented by notes of toasted pastry and dark roast coffee from the authentic barrel bouquet. Persistent high-toned red fruit strikes the palate, followed by bright acidity and a structure that is both dense and soft at once.

We don’t love this vintage (2018) as much as the last bottle of JLohr Seven Oaks 2015 that we had. This one does seem to improve once the bottle has been uncorked for a day or two. Maybe we’ll buy a case of the 2018 for opening in 3 or 4 years.
I’m not a wine expert; I don’t like wine at all, but I do like this one occasionally. My spouse has a glass with dinner everyday.
We have been buying Glen Ellen Merlot for many years. Consistently deep, robust flavor you want from a Napa Merlot. Our original retail source for this wine went out of business several years ago and that’s when we discovered Total Wine which carries the Glen Ellen brand.
Great choice if you are looking for good quality, full-bodied red at a reasonable price.
I can take down steel reserve, shots of tequila and many other bitter horrible malty tasting things and even actually like it, I love the bitter hues of chardonnay. But this stuff. this stuff. the worst thing I’ve had in my mouth ever and the buzz sucked.
Horrible hangover after only a cup. Chemically/gamey dirty dishwater after taste.
this is the house wine for many of the great New Orleans restaurants. dry smooth Cabernet with hints of cherry. very affordable for dinner parties or drinking on the porch.

Discovered this through a recommendation from a staff member. Very happy with it. I like the red better than the white. Family and friends have said they enjoyed the wine at dinner parties.
Simple life pinot noir is garnet in color, aromas of luscious cherries, nutmeg and savory herbs bring the wine to life. Bright flavors of cranberry and ripe plum intermingle with sage and warm baking spices.
Notes of vanilla from 100% French oak aging provide a lovely background for the complex and supple tannins. This wine has perfect balance between its dark fruit character and lively acidity, which makes it an easy pairing for a variety of foods.

This is an enjoyable wine I bought it only because I love the name of the bottle! Thought I’d give it a try. To me it is a nice berry blend having a little tang of cranberry. It seemed a little thin and leggy at first but once it opened up I must say I was pleasantly surprised.
So I’m excited for a simple life of smooth Pinot noir. Woa buddy. Not what I got. What is it you ask. Smokey. Gross. Reminds me of a deep coffee bacon tasting porter I’m out.
I just bought this wine yesterday, and paired it with a grass fed lamb burger w/ red onion, broccoli rabbe, and a small yam & red bless potato. Not your typical pino noir at all. Had a more robust flavor/taste.
slightly smokey/oakey fruit forward/flowery/earthiness. nice flavor, but not sweet. nice finish with just enough “bite. “.
While there are many possible benefits to drinking wine for weight loss, it is important to remember that moderation is key. Too much wine can actually lead to weight gain. Therefore, it is important to drink wine in moderation and to pair it with a healthy diet and exercise plan.
When it comes to choosing a wine for weight loss, red wine may be a better option than white wine, as it contains more antioxidants.
