20 Best Wheels For Transition Skating (2023 Updated)

My K2 FIT 84 Boa originally came with 84mm wheels but the frame supports up to 90mm. After years of casually riding my wheels and bearings were worn beyond repair – this was my first pair of skates! Instead of spending $150-$200 on a new pair I decided to outfit them with some ~$50 pair of wheels and bearings, these Rollerblade 90mm.

I’ve gone on hours of riding and I feel a night and day difference. I’m rolling smoothly now and moving must faster thanks to new bearings and slightly bigger wheels!.

Previously had K2 85A wheels and was skeptical about how 84’s would feel. Noticeably softer and more comfortable to skate with. However the bearings don’t seem to glide as well. Really happy with the overall quality of the product.

I don’t know anything about Inline skates. That said, my teenage daughter was extremely pleased with the purchase, so I guess that’s a positive, indeed, from a teenager, that’s an endorsement!

Nice wheels that are big and wide enough to get you past the cracks and gutters when cruising around. Missing 2 stars because they are not durable enough. Even though they are soft wheels, they should not get ripped off from the wheel surface.

The wheels wear off way too fast. Last time I had 78A wheels from another producer and they lasted several months. These feel like grainy and ripped just after couple of days riding.

Best Urethane on the market and the size of the wheel is perfect for a hybrid street/cruiser board. Perfect for spots with cracks and crusty ground, love the product. Keep up the good work.

Love these wheels, feels great turns great all in all just a really fun wheel. Roll right over sticks and pebbles with ease and are light enough to still get some air. 🤘🏻🤙🏻 🟧

Since I’ve got back into skating a few years ago, I’ve primarily rode OJ’s KeyFrames 87A, with TeamRider 97A’s, in the mix. 97s are a bit harsh for me, yet 87A are a bit slow for the skatepark. I rode my new Nomad 95A’s yesterday.

perfect wheels! Hard, yet not skull-rattling hard. Even rode them in the bowl! 95A is my dream durometer. Nomads are my now and future go-to park and street wheel.

The wheel was great out the box, it made everything easily rideable and smooth. I found out that it’s very unslidable, it sticks to the ground more frequently compared to a spitfire ,but I think that’s the disadvantage of having a soft wheel, it didn’t have a problem doing slides with it, with enough wax that’ll do the job.

Over time of using this wheel it tends to harden more, making it not feel the same when it was out the box.

These are my “everything” wheel for street, park and bowl. I like simple setups w/ no fuss and these make it easy. I pair them (59mm) w/ Titanium 159’s and they’ll roll over anything.

Oh, just awesome for cruising and carving. You need to try hard to make them slide and they just absorb all the crappy surfaces we have in the UK. Thw white ones exude cool on my Arbor deck too!

These wheels are so smooth to ride and also still pretty good for doing tech. Best wheels on the market.

Fantastic wheels for cruddy streets and janky sidewalks. They’ll work on concrete too, and are pretty nice in wooden bowls. Big contact patches so don’t expect to do a lot of sliding around but they gobble up cracks and spit out little stones easily.

Definitely my go-to wheel when I don’t know what surfaces I’m going to encounter. These are a little bouncy for some tricks, but generally a pleasure to ride. And 55mm means not needing risers on your popsicle board.

These are good soft wheels, they are smooth on rough surfaces for cruising. They came fast (within a few days), and we’re a nice change to the generic 55mm wheels I was using. Do you want a smooth ride ? Do you want more grip on the rough terrain ? Are you looking to use an old skateboard for a cruiser ? These are for you !.

I love these wheels! So fast! So smooth! After you break them in they slide pretty decent as well. Lots of grip when you need it though. Also they basically roll through anything and over anything. Straight tank status.

This product is just fantastic. I love the smoothness of it when I’m riding to and back from the skatepark. I love how I can land all tricks first try. These Spitfire Formula Four Lock ins are just absolutely amazing and I will purchase more.

One of the best sets of wheels you can find. Would recommend to any and all street or vert skaters. Feels great to skate on right out of the gate. Break in within just a few minutes. These are awesome wheels and they look great as well.

Slightly flat spotted them in a few days, but they lock in great and the flat spotted has gone down quickly.

This is exactly what I was looking for! It is a combination of having a softer wheel that still slides. Happy skater! 🙂

Awesome wheels, enjoying the 56mm size vs my usual 60-70mm cruisers. Ride and roll awesome, but still learning to slide.

Hi all, Skid here. I’ll be 44 this November and still enjoy skateboarding! My first board was a Santa Cruz exploding clock skateboard 30 years ago as a 8th grade graduate gift for my folks. (Yes, I got the reissue!) I got wheels to go with my new deck too! I’m enjoying the Slime Ball ‘s 78a softness wheels.

I bought a set of 60mm and 66mm so that I may have options for my skateboard set up for the day. I’ve noted years ago that larger , softer wheels take to a poor boys street better than small hard wheels.

Plus the weight of the wheels gives the extra momentum to pull the board full around during a kick flip. Making my skateboard more like a cat , always landing on it feet! That’s my review, time to sk8! Skid.

Really enjoying these so far! Wheels run very smooth and have a stable riding surface. Been power sliding a decent amount and have not had any flat spots. I have just a standard set of ABEC3 bearings in and am able to cruise along pretty quickly thanks to the size of the wheel.

Would certainly purchase again.

Solid wheels. First time riding the Hardline shape and I really like them. I have them on my Dressen Rose Crew deck with Indy 159s and running Bronson ceramic bearings. I am recently getting back into skating and use this set-up to cruise the local park hitting some banks and transitions.

The wheel shape gives a solid foundation and feels good on concrete. Rolls nice and haven’t noticed any flat spotting or other wear. Highly recommend.

This Elite formula and shape is awesome! These wheels are the perfect size and durometer – not too soft or hard. Great for both streets and skatepark surfaces. Another plus is that they keep their color and don’t stain or turn yellow like older wheel formulas.

These are by far the best wheels I’ve ever had in my 16 years of skateboarding. Nothing really compares. Phenomenally smooth, slide when I want them to & grip otherwise. They lock in great on ledges & coping.

One of the most important aspects, THEY HOLD THEIR SHAPE! I haven’t had to rotate them once in the 6ish months I’ve had them.

Bu far and away the best wheels I’ve ridden. Loved them so much I immediately bought another set. As long as these wheels are around I don’t think I’ll ever ride any others. Thanks nhs and ojs for continuing to make great products.

SIZE: The 52mm feels like the perfect balance, no wheelbite but large enough to get enough speed. They are pretty thin, which makes them feel lightfooted but they are so thin that my spacers did not fit inside them! HARDNESS: Hard enough to get a bit of slide (great for tricks), but barely soft enough to give a bit of comfort.

Using them with shock pads solves that problem for me. SPEED: These wheels are FAST. I could not imagine that wheels could make such a difference in speed. LOOKS: The color of the material is not as yellow as on the picture, which is a good thing to me.

The Spitfire-circle was not printed exactly in the center, which gives it a bit of a wobbly look when spinning. Turning the wheels inside out solved this for me.

Totally recommended for those who love to slide, and want a harder wheel that lasts a long time. The material is really high quality, they ride a lot smoother than other wheels of comparable hardness, and dirt/debris does not get embedded in the riding surface like on some other wheels.

They also do not appear to wear as quickly as my previous set of wheels. I bomb a lot of hills, and speed check a lot so usually wheels wear out pretty fast for me. They can be a bit slippery the first session or two, but once they\’re broken in they grip a little better.

The slide on these wheels is first class, super easy to break into a powerslide whenever you want and it doesn\’t stick on nose and tail slides. The hype on these is considerable, but totally justified.

Awesome wheels. Forgotten what decent, fresh wheels felt like. Should be even better once they’ve worn in a bit. Slightly more dear than most skate wheels but definitely more worth getting a better product.

I really like whats going on with these wheels! 92a is that great sweet-spot between hard wheels and soft cruiser wheels! I have been searching for a wheel that could handle imperfect ground comfortably, while still being able to do nose & tail slides without sticking.

these handle the job beautifully! They don’t have that bouncy feel that cruiser wheels have, yet they can move through rough ground quite well like a cruiser! I’m stoked to find that they can nose & tail slide and perform like a street wheel.

I have tried all of the available hardnesses of wheels that are out now, and I can easily say that anything softer than these 92a’s will stick to a fully waxed curb. These actually slide! Amazing! So, that leads me to say that these wheels can be used as a standard street wheel.

Finally, a street skating wheel that can actually roll through the streets! I don’t know about where y’all live, but most streets in my city (Phoenix, AZ) are not perfectly smooth. Its a pain in the A** to push anywhere on a normal street.

But not any more! These wheels WILL 100% get you through the streets much smoother than any 97a-or-higher wheel ever could! And you’ll be sliding and grinding just as easily as you were with the hard wheels! Its a game changer for sure.

My only negative thought: Why is there no option for these 92a’s made in a more “street shaped” wheel??? RICTA–if you see this post. Please shave off a little bulk/weight from these and make a new option that caters to street skating.

I love these wheels! PS. I also 100% endorse RICTA’s hard wheels for when you are on nice smooth ground. Smooth like butta’ baby!.

Longboarders know what I’m talking about when I describe these wheels as “chalky,” “‘thane-y” and that they “behave like slide-wheels. ” Street and outdoor park skaters will recognize Ricta Clouds for being excellent for power slides, but also lacking grip in the park/bowl- they’ll also probably tell you that Ricta Clouds in 92a aren’t a cruiser wheel either.

These are often the same skaters that will go onto say you need just two wheels in your arsenal- A cruiser wheel and your park/spot wheels. However, I strongly feel that there is a third wheel- and that older Seattle rippers whom are tired of having their knees and bones shaken should know it: This.

The sidewalk wheel. For craggy Seattle streets and rain-warn sidewalks, Ricta Clouds are magic (and 92a is a magic number. ) These Clouds powerslide over the bumps, cracks and rain-warn surfaces of Seatown while still allowing you to pop, flip, grind/slide & stick the landing with a reasonable amount of control/predictability- & most importantly, without sticking to the pavement on landing.

In short, rolling these 92as on the sidewalk feel like 99as in the park. Enjoy!.

These wheels have better stability for your bearings to recover for more speed and smoother rolls with/without spacers. Not too bulky and more able for board feel than the Slimeball Mini O. G. 78s’ however they are not as fast after break-ins compared to Slimeballs.

Really smooth sailing if you take care of them. Ricta rules.

I\’ve skated a few shapes and brands but these bad boys are probably my favourite shape and brand. Especially this shape is perfect for me in terms of being able to ride pretty much anywhere. The wider contact patch that this wheel has on the ground makes even the crustiest asphalt skateable.

I\’ve had 52mm Bones wheels with 14,5mm contact patches that are almost unskateable on some of the streets around here because the tiny contact patch sometimes places the wheels between rocks sticking up out of the asphalt and that eats up any and all speed.

This wheel works on those streets as well as in concrete parks or on wooden ramps. I like the Classics too but sometimes there is terrain that just isn\’t suited to them. I\’d be tempted to try the 97A variant of these Conical Fulls but for now the 99A has served me very well.

Dude the wheels are amazing. Ive had em for about 6 months and they DO NOT flatspot. I would reccomend these wheels not really to beginners? But the softer formula fours would be better for them. 97 duro about.

Ive tried 101 97 and 94 duro but i dont really like any of them as much as this. Plus its very. Stylish. Love the wheels. Dont flatspot. Amazing quality.

Best wheels ever! No doubt! I have ridden several wheel brands and Spitfires are simply the best. They are super durable, have a nice and controlled powerslide, ride smooth, are fast and also just look good on your board.

I would definetely recommend these (conical fulls) because they are just the best. These are the goldilock wheels for me!.

I love the Slime Balls mini vomits, ride them in 56mm. I´m on my third set , had them before in purple “glow in the dark”, the orange ones, and now i´m riding these. I love the fact that they stay white, don´t get yellow.

I find them Great on Skateparks, on the streets, on the wooden mini ramp which i´ve been riding. My Set up: Eric Dressen Deck( 9. 3 with 14. 25 wheelbase ) + 169 starndart Indys + Bronson G3 + Slime line Blue Rails + 1/8 Riser Pads + Independent 1 Hardware( black and gold )+ of course the Slime balls 56mm mini vomits.

Absolutely love these wheels. The green and ghost white are a great combination, and while spinning they look hella rad. They hold up to the test like any slime ball, perfect for reverts, nice and smooth.

I love this wheels, they are great all-rounders and soft enough for rough terrain but also slide like harder wheels.

Really good for downhill freeride i had control with my slides. Also pretty good for regular skateboards too no not just longboards. Cant wait to try techsliding with these on my other board. Used these on a bustin maestro mini going downhill at 25mph and was NOT disappointed, had great control.

Perfect set of wheels if you skate park or street. Great color, I have a green sword and skull powell peralta deck so if you can amagine the colors going on . Overall gteat set of wheels.

This is a very interesting wheel, I’ve been a fan of f4 99a and I also have oj nomads which I love. Compared to f4 these slide almost as good, from my powerslide tests on brand new wheels they slide very similar to f4 but it’s easier to get out of a slide and it’s more controlled.

It takes a little more effort to get into a slide but very little more. I’m sure when they break in they’ll be just as good. They are easier to slide than my ricta speedrings 99a. Also being 95a they feel harder than 99a f4 and way harder than the nomads.

but at the same time they are sooo much smoother and faster than f4 on any terrain, there’s no comparison and they eat any cracks or pebbles. They keep the speed much better than f4 on crusty terrain.

My only minor complaint is that they are very loud but i can live with that. The sound of the powerslide is very unique and nasty in a good way. 🙂 it feels so weird to ride a wheel that feels hard as a rock but rides crust like a soft wheel.

No bounce when you throw your board on the ground just like a hard wheel. My new favorite wheel.

They’re almost exactly what I expected. Until I did a revert on flat and it made this crazy high pitched squeal. After I broke them in they were 🙂

These wheels are smooth and solid to ride whether you are at the park or slappin curbs! …..and they look AWESOME!!!!

I\’ve now tried both Spitfire Classics and Bones STFs. For me the spitfires slide easier. The reverts/powerslides are easier on spitfires imo. In other words, the Bones are a little grippier and stickier on ledges and on the ground.

For example, I noticed myself getting stuck on nose slides a lot easier with Bones. They feel smoother to ride around than spitfires tho. But in general, not much of a difference, although I enjoyed my spitfires more.

These wheels rip. Very fast, easy to correct by skidding, excellent for slides. The thin contact patch make for an increased response on smooth ground especially.

love the graphic on the wheels. They are tough and feel great when riding and landing tricks. no problem with them.
