20 Best Weight Loss Exercise For Over 50 (2023 Updated)

This hula hoop was easy to assemble. It can be adjustable by taking one part out. It is durable and fun to use. Great to put in favorite Netflix and work. Does not seem heavy but as you work out you feel it!.

I was lucky enough to find an AeroPilates Reformer at a charity shop at a much reduced price many years ago. At that time I was suffering badly with problems with my aging muscles and bones. This made life pretty miserable and everything seemed such a struggle.

Since using the Reformer, my health improved enormously, going from strength to strength. Not only that, due to the Reformer, I looked fitter, sleeker, toned and my physical health and energy levels improved immensely.

All movement became easier, carrying loads such as shopping became easier, in fact everything improved – even an old shoulder injury I had suffered from for years got better. Since then, I have encouraged many people to buy an Aeropilates Reformer and to use it regularly.

All have benefitted enormously and continue to do so. As the chart was too small for me to see clearly whilst exercising, to make using the equipment easier I photocopied and enlarged each individual exercise and instruction to fit on an A4 sheet of paper, popped each one into a poly-pocket and bound them together with treasury tags to form a booklet.

This way I could just turn over each page as I completed each exercise. It is a considerable purchase. However, even if I had to buy one for double the price QVC sell it for, due to the benefits my family, friends and I have experienced, I still would! I cannot praise it highly enough!.

I took the plunge having watched various videos which were rather inspiring, and most people who have bought the reformer seem almost evangelical about the benefits, judging by the reviews here. I would say, as others have, that it’s pretty heavy and you need a bit of space to put it together.

I think I’ll keep it open all the time, to save the faff! The instructions were not at all helpful and it took quite a few hours to figure it all out but we got there eventually. Aeropilates video on how to set it up is much better than the random ones on Youtube – one lady spent ages explaining how to get it out of the box which was annoying when you wanted her to get to the actual assembly part! Perhaps there should be a note in the box directing you to that video if you get stuck.

Also, the code you need to access the videos online is underneath the machine, so make a note of it before you set it up as it’s hard to get to it once you’re done. There’s a bit of paper that tells you this in the package and you could easily miss it.

I also bought a mat direct from Aeropilates which is durable and just the right size to protect the floor. Am excited to get started, although I need to have a little rest first after all the hard work of assembly!.

I purchased the 3 cord reformer from QVC many years ago when the rebounder and pull up bar were first introduced. It is the best purchase I have ever made! It is still going strong and I couldn’t be without it! I purchased mine when QVC were also selling the reformer metal stands which I also purchased at the same time.

The stand was essential for me as I have had extensive knee surgery and cannot kneel on the floor. The stand raises it off the floor to the height where I can sit down comfortably without having to get down to floor level.

I would love to replace my old 3 cord reformer for this 4 cord reformer but my 3 cord stand I’m pretty sure won’t fit the 4 cord reformer. Please QVC offer customers the reformer stands for those of us that cannot easily exercise at ground level.

If your knees are ok and you have no problems getting down on the floor this is a purchase that your body will thank you for!!.

This has been a great gym for us. Quality at its best. All the pulleys are smooth there are so many added options we bought. There’s nothing left to need except a personal trainer. I still incorporate my treadmill daily.

Compare to other available Gym’s, this one very bad quality and very tough to install. Its contains Vinyl weights. But in the market vinyl weight gym price around $300. Its selling high market price with not much quality.

This one is not a good choice for best work out. Need more space compare to other market models. Very cheap metal used for the Skelton( Cheap Aluminum quality). One word its not good one. There is 100% chance to missing parts, you need to call them and takes another week.

Assembling time compare to other 10 times more. My friendly suggestion please don’t buy.

The reason I’m comparing this G3 to Pilates is because I always wanted my pilates machine to incline to give me more weight bearing results. Weight bearing helps maintain bone density, it’s really important as you get older to prevent fractures in the lower body and hips.

Plus I’m off the ground which does make for easier position changes and able to get up and down a lot easier. I enjoy the inverted (upside down) sit ups and gliding abdominal crunches that you won’t get with a Pilates machine.

The different levels of incline positions will provide many goals to master and maintain as you progress over time. Because of those different incline levels this will also replace my Abdominal Crunch machine which mean having two less pieces of exercise equipment in the room which can also be a bonus when space is an issue.

The only drawback when comparing G3 to a Pilates machine is you cannot workout both legs simultaneously for the stretch positions Pilates is known for other than that the leg exercises are similar returning the same results.

The inclined leg presses are comparable to pilates Rebounder making it a more effective workout with less risk of jarring knees and ankles. Since you’re supporting your own weight and not relying on bands for resistance, you will get your heart rate up quickly, especially the more inclined you are while maintaining your pace.

Another additional feature is an inverted stretch you can safely do before and after your workout without pulling on your ankles or knees. Check with your surgeon if you have hardware in knees or ankles, inversion is typically not recommended.

Depending on the level of inversion you may be able to tolerate. Select an incline that does not pull on your joints to the point you feel pain or tug. I recommend watching total gym videos on youtube before trying this and other positions for your safety and efficacy.

This is an amazing product. I had the 1’st gen for over 16 years and it worked amazing as well. Knowing the durability in the work out my first machine gave me I decided to buy and upgraded model. I race motocross / super cross and the Total Gum has always been a major part of my training program.

The unit is very easy to set up its user friendly and produces stellar results when a user is dedicated and committed. Just like with all exercise equipment and work out plans you get what you put into it.

The Total Gym gets you in shape and keeps you in shape when routinely used. Well worth every penny and it’s right at your house. I have seen many reviews on YouTube with individuals seeking a bodybuilder work out with this machine.

They claim in their videos that it doesn’t work very well for them. I can contest everybody that I have known that has it out of the machine can use mine has found one way or another for this machine to kick their butt and produce a solid work out.

People need to be aware that you’re not buying a Weight bench. Product shipped fast to my house, I unpackaged and assembled it within an hour. Very happy with purchase. It is use everyday by my family of 5.

Great for Seniors or anyone. I love my total gym. Work as hard or as little as you like. Stores out of the way decent enough. I leave mine up constantly in my hobby room. With a good diet program I used it to help me lose 50 lb.

Much better than other equipment I have bought and then gotten rid of in the past. Stationary bikes and treadmills stink. I have barely used the many types of exercises possible. A great way to stay active for seniors without overdoing.

When Covid hit in 2019 my wife and I stopped going to the local gym. We decided to build our own gym at home, since we had a large loft space in our townhome. We set it up with one wall as a mirror, an adjustable bench, pull up bar, rowing machine and power blocks sport 50 EXP with the stand.

This is literally all you need to stay in shape, or to get into better shape. I had to wait several months to get the power blocks, because they were on backorder. But I absolutely love them and so does my wife.

They are extremely versatile and take up very little room. The cost may seem a bit high for a set of dumbbells, but they are very well made, and are worth every penny as far as I’m concerned. I don’t need to look like a bodybuilder, but if that is your intent these dumbbells are expandable up to 90 lbs.

I would consider them one of the best investments I’ve ever made concerning my health. If you are thinking about getting a set of adjustable dumbbells, definitely check these out!.

I bought these PowerBlock dumbbells and the Stage 2 expansion last year and I regret purchasing them. The dumbbells have a very wide grip that, after weeks of use, led to a constant numbing pain in my forearms and hands.

I was diagnosed with nerve entrapment, which the doctor and physical therapist agreed was due to the wide grip on the dumbbells. After stopping use of the dumbbells/weightlifting and 3 months of physical therapy, I still have lingering numbness in one of my forearms.

As I’ve never had any issues with normal-sized dumbbell handles, I highly recommend against this version of the PowerBlocks.

I’ve owned the classic PowerBlock 5-45 set and was finally ready to upgrade. I owned the old set for over 12 years and I can tell this set is made of the same quality with some good upgrades. The new set fits have a contoured handle which is awkward at first but helps develop better grip strength.

Cylinder weights do make a little noise while using and offers a slight imbalance but this week benefit me in the end I’m sure. All in all, a great purchase and look forward to abusing these weights.

This is a great all around workout. I am what I would consider a pretty toned athlete. I have a black belt in karate and do alot of interval training, running, strength training and a little yoga. I like all my Jillian workouts as they are all about making you stronger.

I like how she pushes you to do a little more and this one is no different. This workout is a great combo of high intensity intervals, strength, some yoga and martial arts. Very well rounded. Although it says on the front it is 2 45 minute workouts its really 2 thirty minute workouts with a lengthy warm up cool down.

Level one and two as usual. or you have the choice to do both workouts one after the other. I did both workouts back to back first time out and it will make you sweat for sure, but I love it. Alot of variation and fun.

Just when you think you cant go any more you are into the cool down. I love having her dvds as a go to at home when I cant get to the gym or want something different. I do one of her workouts a day, varying between a few dvds.

She is inspiring and likes to bring you stuff that works and is result oriented and I respect that. Breathe, sweat and enjoy the workout!.

I was excited to get this bc JM (on TV) comes off intense and hardcore in terms of exercise. I have tried Billy Blanks and Mike Donovanik and love their exercise programs. When I got this, I was disappointed bc I felt like she prowled amongst her exercisers and their form wasn’t very proper (boxing, high kicks, side kicks).

I appreciate BB’s form for correctness, and MD’s knowledge in Kinesiology and body mechanics. I read somewhere that JMs is an actress acting like a fitness trainer, and while doing this DVD, I got the same feeling (I may be wrong).

I did get a decent workout, but I want to see proper form from the trainer and have it explained as we go. I felt like that was lacking. Sadly, I will not buy another JM DVD, but will buy more MD and BB DVD if I see one that doesn’t require equipment.

This workout will kick your butt! Definitely not for beginners. I think that if you want a strenuous and effective workout, there are much better programs out there(i. e. Body for Life, P90X, and Insanity).

The problem with Jillian Michaels’ program is that there is nothing even remotely exciting about it. The workout is hard (which isn’t a bad thing) but when you add arduously boring to mix, then every time I think about doing this workout, I associated it with torture (which is not a good thing).

I would rather lift weights to my own music and go to Zumba classes. Also, in order to get the meal plan online–you have to pay. I just wasn’t impressed.

I’ve done yoga for a few years and I like this sequence. However, a novice would see yoga for weight loss and think this is designed for someone who is heavier and therefore requires more modified positions.

This DVD cannot modify positions the way a larger or abnormally shaped body needs to be so it takes a little tweaking to figure out modifications if you’re new.

It’s better than most yoga DVD’s, but not as good as Ms. Deason’s other DVD, YOGA FOR WEIGHT LOSS. I like it very much because the programs are more workable for daily use.

Nice structure to presentation material. I like it that Breathing was in a separate section. Wish that a beginner level section (like Breathing Basics 101) was included. it is very key to yoga and weight loss.

Wish there were more routines.

After I had my first child my body was all sorts of out of whack and I was looking for something that I could do at home. While I had taken some yoga classes in college and was an outdoors enthusiast who had participated and tried all manner of sporting activities, I was intimidated by yoga classes here on Maui, particularly with my postpartum body.

This DVD helped to re-introduce me to yoga and regain some level of form and balance through calm instruction. After gaining the ability to flow the yoga sequence I was ready to take on a formal yoga class.

I lost 50 pounds using this 2 times a day 3 days a week until I got stronger and increased usage. It’s easy to follow and has progressive classes to follow as you learn. So it’s 3 classes in 1! This is a reasonably priced product and I highly recommend it as a success story and 200 hr RYT yoga teacher.

The title is misleading. a more accurate title would be “deep stretches to calm your mind”. The only way you’ll loose weight with this program is because you aren’t eating while you’re doing it. It doesn’t even have the simple standing poses, like tree pose, which uses leg and core abdominal muscles.

I would not recommend it. Waste of money.

Initially, it lifted my mood and I thought it was about to make me feel great. Had a sense of well-being, started a few phone calls and projects, being a little nicer to people than usual. Then about an hour in, I felt out of control of everything and was irritated by the little things, or people who weren’t on my level at the moment.

I had the same problems with Adderall as im labeled as ADD/ADHD, so my mood swings is why I stopped taking that. I was not trying to replace a stimulant I was just generally curious about pre workout.

Idk, maybe I didn’t take enough, or vice versa. But I think I’ll only be taking this while I’m alone. My other comment would be it made me itchy for the first 40 minutes. Not like itchy in the sense I wanted to scratch, but a strange prickly sensation.

Definitely interested in trying a different kind, one thing I do like is that I don’t feel nervously caffeinated like I expected. Another positive is that I think it tastes good. The last positive is that I got a can for less than three dollars at Meijer, it was a mistake but that’s all it scanned up for.

GARBAGE. Why this is so hyped as “the best” pre workout is ridiculous. Look at the ingredients – all of the vitamins & minerals amounts are so small they’re useless. As for the sport performance blend / sport energy blend – a creative way of listing ingredients without actual amounts.

The performance blend is no where near the amounts needed to make any difference plus you’d have to take them every day to actually work. The energy blend is a joke – Taurine is the 1st ingredient listed & the cheapest.

135 mg of caffeine is no where near an amount to really give you a jolt of energy. Don’t waste your money on this. It’s completely useless. I give it ZERO STARS if it let me!.

I’ve been doing this exercise routine since 1986. It is the ONLY exercise video I have ever been able to stick with. I needed a hip replacement for many years and yet still was able to continue to do this workout.

Now even better post op! Have worn out a couple of VHS and home made DVDs. Now I am thrilled to pieces to be able to get an actual official copy on DVD. I know this routine by heart and usually have my back turned away from the tv when I do it (so I can look out the window) but still like to have it on in case I get out of step.

I love it so much I ignore the occasional snide “I fooled you” comments. Jane sure put out a winner here, though in my opinion!!.

I could not even get 10 minutes into this DVD – the hooting and hollering of the people doing the tape was too much for me! It distracted from the moves you needed to do. I would not recommend this.

I used this excuse over 30 years ago and lost lots of weight. It was very difficult to find it in DVDso happy to find it here and the price was very reasonablegood purchase!

Great work out routines. Jillian knows how to mix things up and give you a variety of moves and routines. Can’t fast forward introduction which is the only negative thing.

Jillian is an awesome trainer and she really does get results if you follow the workouts.

As somebody who consumes a good bit of preworkout and who loves to venture out and try something new in addition to my usual staples every time I shop, I can say without a doubt that this is the worst pre workout I am yet to consume.

Pros: Its Cheap You can get it even cheaper on sale almost always There are multiple flavors to choose from Cons: It legitimately tastes like melted plastic mixed in with your given flavor. The pump is what you’d expect from a cheap pre workout.

The texture isn’t right. It doesn’t fully blend into water, and if you shotgun you’ll hate it even more. All in all I’d rate this firmly as a ‘steer clear from’ pre workout. Even at the price point, it just outright isn’t good.

Was buying this product for many years, was super pleased and satisfied! But this last time was very disappointed! Product would not mix well, leaving small white balls, which taste very bad, like chemicals! Also, this time I did not feel effect, which used to have it before! Customer support did not help me this time at all! Would not recommend this product any more!.

Took me about an hour to put together because the instructions are poorly written. Diagrams show every piece but it comes halfway assembled. Had to turn it on the side to tighten seat screws. And make sure you secure the front stabilizer bar with the bolt that is attached to the unit (not in the bag).

That was a little confusing and very dangerous if not done properly. It’s not perfect, compared to more expensive units that allow more adjustments. But for this price, it’s great. You can decide which muscles to work more.

You can push more with your legs or pull more with your arms. You control the tension and speed. The machine doesn’t work you, you work the machine! Build up muscles and cardio at the same time!.

I have many health problems including balance issues which have prevented me from traditional exercise options. I purchased the FitRider because it seemed to be the safest option for me. I am blown away at the awesome cardio workout I get from this piece of equipment.

At age 72 this machine is right price and great whole body exercise that I have needed for a long time. easy for all ages. Silent movement, sturdy and all home exercise I could have. Good help for heart, balance, weight and the right price.

I was using my husband’s old vest for a long time and it just never stayed put, was hard to put on myself, and always gave me a burn on my lower back. This weight vest solved literally all of those problems.

It doesn’t move, it’s easy to strap on, and it doesn’t rub my lower back. I also love that the weight doesn’t press down on my chest as hard. Highly, highly recommend.

My brother had given me his weight vest, but it was too big and never felt right. This one is perfect- I’m 5’5” average build/145lbs. It was comfortable enough that I wore it the whole first day I had it working outside in the yard.

The weights are easily added/removed and can be distributed on the back or front evenly. 10/10.

I have worn this for roughly six weeks now. Takes a bit of getting used to, due to the weight. But now it feels very comfortable, fit is great. Sturdy great materials, easy on and off. Terrific way to turn a 30 min walk into additional benefit.

I am 49 now and literally almost 100 lbs overweight – i. e. 100 lbs over the light side of adult weight leaving high school and military service, even after my third child I had in my early 30’s. I would not recommend this for everyone in my situation as it is difficult given my current size (the warm up wore me out the first time through!).

but I do recommend the product as an excellent value and a very solid exercise program. There are exercises I need to modify the modified version, there are others I can do the exercise as is or do the modified well and at, or close to, the pace of the dvd.

Sometimes I take an extra 30 seconds on the water break, I do not go back right away if I am breathing heavy. If something feels like it is pulling, I back off and modify or take a few seconds to re-group.

Usually, I am not greatly sore, but a little bit in chest and legs. I have not lost a lot of weight, and not yet changed my diet, but am improving and pleased with the workouts. If I had a suggestion to improve the product it would be leave out the push up bars and print the nutrition guide/journal instead.

Having those in hand would be helpful. Still I give it 5 stars all the way around for value, enjoyability and would recommend it to others looking for a home based workout program.

I’ve been trying to lose weight but i always got stuck at 180 pounds. I looked for some workout dvd’s, but they were too expensive. I figured somebody has to have a cheap version of Insanity somewhere, and of course Wal-Mart had one.

These Dvd’s were only $30 when i bought them. I figured it’d be cheap and probably wouldn’t be as beneficial as i hoped. But, after the first workout i was sweating from head to toe and my shirt was drenched.

I kept on and on following the schedule they give you, and doing the ab dvd and running 2-4 miles on cardio days. I am now just one workout day away from completing my first round of it (I’m definitely going to keep doing this) and i have lost 21 pounds, and i have visible abs for the first time in my life.

At times it may get boring, but if you keep with it you WILL see results. For just $30/40, it’s worth every penny! The most important thing is to make sure you do something on cardio days. You don’t need too much space for the workouts either.

Each weekly dvd is about 35-40 minutes long, so it doesn’t take up a large chunk of your day. I’m very happy and satisfied with my purchase and recommend it to everybody.

This product is great! Can’t say enough about it! I wanted to tone up after having my 2nd baby. I lost 7 pounds and I’m ripped! Arms, back, abs, legs, u name it! However I didn’t follow their schedule.

I do the weekly dvd and the abs dvd everyday. Its takes about 45min – 1 hr start to finish. I don’t use the push up stands. I also don’t follow the nutrition guide, but I try to avoid junk food as much as possible.

Hard, I know! Don’t get discouraged if your not seeing results right away, it took about 7 weeks for me to start seeing good results. I’m about to start the program over for the 3rd time, and I get my butt kicked every week! I absolutely love this program! I was going to buy insanity after I finished the 1st round of xfactor but when looking at insanity closely I saw some dvd’s were almost 1 1/2 hrs and I don’t have the time for that, also they charge so much for sales tax and total the program was 150 bucks and I figured for 30 dollars I get a less intense workout and the same results.

I tell everyone this is the cheaper, easier version of insanity! Don’t get me wrong, this program leaves you sweaty, wore out and wanting more!!! Such a great buy in my opinion and I will use this program until my dvd’s stop working!.

I bought a tub of the orange flavour and tried it last week for the first time just 1/2scoop before my PT session. Well I got there and I was pinging thinking I’m glad I only had half a scoop, well I smashed my pt session and had so much energy to burn, Energy lasted me a good few hours.

So each morning since I have been using 1/2 scoop in a pint of water. It’s ridiculously sweet but i tolerate that amount. Today I used 3/4 scoop and smashed out 8hrs of cleaning houses in 6. 5hr. The focus and energy this stuff gives is amazing.

As for the appetite I feel like it’s made me hungrier just that I’m too busy buzzing around to eat. Not sure what I’m taking exactly and don’t know if it will burn weight but I’m liking the buzz. Going to buy a diff flavour.

This is the product I first purchased from you and I was quite happy with it as I did notice it reduced my appetite. I only ordered the one to try it out. I since tried to purchase the same one but you keep sending me the one that does NOT say ELITE FAT BURNER on it.

I was assured on the last order of 2, that it was this product. That was the ONLY reason I went ahead and paid for them/ It was very hard to see what the picture was on the order as it was sooo soooo small but trusted your staff that it was what i wanted.

I have since sent back 2 on separate occasions , received a refund on the first one and have not had a refund on the second one. I now have 2 that do not do what i wanted it to do and that is to reduce my appetite.

The products give you a noticeable energy increase minutes after consuming. and are designed to increase body temperature, metabolism, and all round Alertness to help the person perform better and decrease a persons appetite for weight loss.

I’m Seeing fabulous results and will not stop using these products as they r super effective for energy really quickly but you have to be careful not to consume too much in a day as the products are powerful and can really increase your heart rate and body functioning.

You have to figure out your tolerance but I personally love the products. You cannot fault them.
