20 Best Wax For Gelcoat Rv (2023 Updated)

After cleaning off the oxidation on our 20 year old bow rider I applied a generous coat of this wax. It went on and wiped off extremely easy. It gave the hull a rich shine! The boat has been on and off the lake 3 or 4 times.

The water still beads up and a quick rinse is all that’s needed when we get home. Great stuff.

I had been using Meguiars pure Carnauba wax on my boat prior to using the Premium Flagship wax. The Flagship wax goes on very easily but is a little bit more difficult to wipe off than the carnuba wax.

Other than that, the Premium Flagship wax is by far a more durable and longer-lasting wax. The boat has been out in the sun for two months now and water still readily beads on the finish and it has no dirt streaks because the dirt washes right off with the rain.

After washing and letting my 38′ boat dry, I used an applicator with a dab of wax on it and applied a very thin layer over the exterior fiberglas and rails of the boat. I used a quarter of the bottle.

Then going back with a micro fiber cloth I wiped off the haze. It took me 2. 5 hours and not a lot of effort. The hardest thing to do was to keep from sliding off the boat when kneeling or sitting. The wax micro layer is hard and slick.

Bugs don’t seem to like it. Worth the cost.

This wax is for gelcoat. It works much better than car wax. I put this wax on a 25 year old bass boat that had lost most to the gloss on the upper side. The boat came out great. Its not like a new boat but what a difference it made.

This is the first coat. I did wax the boat and buffed the wax off but I had tried this many time with normal car wax. It just wouldnt stay shiny very long. This Seans to be lasting longer. I bought this bottle that is 32oz compared to other boat waxs that where only 16oz for the same price.

Own a 2020 Forrest River TT dealer recommended waxing twice a year to keep paint looking like new. The reviews on this product did not disappoint. Easy to apply and wipe off. I waxed my entire 31’ trailer in about 6 hours.

Looks better then the day I bought it. We’ll see how it holds up 6 months from now. BTW my trailer has aluminum siding and doors are fiberglass so it’s safe When the sun hits it I can’t even look at it because it’s like looking at a mirror.

Being using this product for many years now, to clean and wax my boat for the coming season. It usually only takes one application, and it protects and shines by boat for the entire year. I find this product performs much better than some other products I have used in the past.

I used on a 14 yr old 31ft class C Greyhawk. Badly yellowed from previous owner use of fast mop and go products. Tried the 49 oxidation remover 1st. Had to go to 1000 grit wet sand to get beyond old product and stains, 49 buffed and finished off with flagship.

Lot of work but finished product looks better then new, mirror finish. Used a porter cable da for sanding and a porter cable buffer for compound and wax. Again take your time and set away 50 to 60 hours to do it right.

Will follow up in 4 months with a foam cannon wash and another round of flagship. Have used it on boats and same results, Will buy again. No I was not solicited for this reveiw. Just good stuff.

Used this on two customer boats as a final finish after buffing. Shined, didn’t really have that slick finish a lot of polishes do. Anyway, both boats faded in sunlight exposer. There is NO UV protection whatsoever! Had to remove what was left of the polish an rebuff.

Never again. the marina where both boats are stored removed it from stock! They don’t want the headaches either.

I must admit I was I was Pleasantly surprised after using west marine one step restorer wax for medium and heavy oxidation. First let me start of by saying my boat is 2001 open fisherman white in color.

I use it Regularly during summer season and as with most boaters I take it on vacation and leave it in a slip for a week or two. (No bottom paint) so I have had to use some pretty touch chemicals to remove all the growth and Smudge.

On average I have detailed the boat once every other year. With that being said I noticed the hulls were starting to oxidize near the waterline and I was not going to let it get worse or to the point of it getting chalky.

So on the first Saturday after receiving the wax restorer I started. I first I applied by hand and then removed with a buffer with a follow up coat on the chalky locations and removed that second coat by hand.

I was amazed at how well the product was working. I finished the entire haul including the bottom. Once completed I followed up with McGregors wax and polish. Could not believe how much of the oxidation had been removed and the shine that was coming through on a 2001 haul.

Entire project took approximately seven hours to complete. The following day I used the McGregors wax on the inside and deck. The oxidizer took a medium amount of effort to remove however the McGregor’s wax went on and off with ease.

The combination of these two products has left me stunned and I promised myself that I would complete this at least once every year using the same two products. Yes I would definitely recommend these products.

Used on a painted aluminum hull. No issues applying and removing. It seems a little pricey but if it makes clean up in the fall easier it’ll be well worth it!

This product is best for vessels that are not highly oxydized. Works well for lightly chalked glass cleans well shines well and easy to work with.

The product arrived a day early in excellent condition. I believe this is a great product at an excellent price. It seems to be a very good wax, goes on and comes off easily. For my application it did not have enough cleaner properties.

I had some body and paint work do on my motor home. It left some over spray and dots of clear coat on the other surfaces. I had to use a cutting cleaner first to remove that before I could apply this wax.

It did not cut the over spray or bugs left after washing very well but it may have been me. I had a surgery to rebuild my shoulder and do not have the strength to buff with the wax applicator very hard.

It does leave a great shine and looks to leave a very good coat of wax to protect the finish.

Great wax! Super easy to apply and remove. Super deep glossy shine! Not sure how durable it is yet, since this is my first time using it. From what I can tell since it’s polymer based, It should hold up a few months! Very pleased and will continue to use!.

Great results on and off with minimal effort. The only wax I’m using on boats from now on.

I like Meguiar’s products and have used them for many years, however the new Polish No. 45 has a different cap that I found very difficult to open. In the end I solved the problem by unscrewing the cap and replacing it with one from an old empty container.

Why make a change to something inferior?.

Found it very hard to remove though I only did 1sq ft at a time. Chaff like residue and very spotty. Not recommended – skip this step and just apply a good marine wax.

This product is much better for boat gelcoat than any automotive polish or compound I have used. I give my boat a thorough waxing every year. I have used varying levels of automotive compound before waxing to get the colors bright and remove water stains.

I used this Meguiar’s Marine polish last year for the first time and I can tell a big difference. My boat finish was shinier and the colors stayed bright all season, with no water stains.

has to be hands-down the best wax ever! Will last forever! Boat, car, you name it and it makes it look amazing! makes old black shine and luster! really does last a long time on surfaces doesnt leave film or residue marks and dark colors! this specific product will do better than the liquid version of it! I have used both and this one is by far the better option.

After being advised by another, “well seasoned” boater, “Believe me, it ain’t cheap but in all my year’s this is the longest lasting and easiest to apply and buff off wax I’ve ever used” So I bought it and after Kevin’s suggestion at West Marine to use it after polishing with 3M Finesse it-II Glaze.

After high school I started a airplane cleaning business and all my life I used 3M product’s but never Meguiars or Finesse it II. Last years wax is still visible and No where on the entire, 35 foot boat did the gel coat haze and this years application look’s even better! I can’t ever see using another product on any of my boats.

I use this on my boat for the first time this weekend. I lightly sprayed the hull be I put the boat in the water. I noticed that it helped remove some water that were already on the hull but what was more impressive was when I took the boat out of the water.

The water beaded off the hull so I had very minimal wiping to do and there were no visible water spots left behind. I had also previously wiped down the wake board tower before I put it in storage. There is usually a lot of dust on the tower but not this time.

I can only surmise that the dust didn’t stick to the tower this time because I had wiped it down with the Quick Wax. Great, easy and fast way to protect your boat and equipment.

Applying this wax couldn’t be any easier. I chose this wax to use on my sailboat earlier this month. As I mentioned, applying the wax couldn’t be easier – just spray then buff to a nice glossy finish.

It even removed light oxidation on the boat’s non-skid deck. After application, water just rolls right off all the waxed surfaces. I even used a hose to spray the boat with water to find the spots that I had missed.

It’s been about two weeks since applying the wax and water still beads on the fiberglass. Hopefully, it will continue to perform and protect as it’s done so far!.

I have a flats boat in Florida and the sun and high air temperatures can be brutal on the boat’s hull. I received the 303 Quick Wax and applied it according to the directions given and was surprised to see that the wax removed minor “grunge” stains and after hand buffing left a film that beaded water.

I also appreciated the generous amount of 303 provided in the spray bottle. There’s enough here for several applications over the summer months. It’s too soon to determine how long the wax stays on the hull, but first impressions are good!.

I gave this stuff a try for spot cleaning of the dreaded black streaks that are visible after a rainfall and caused by runoff from canvas. Most black streak removers also remove wax so I avoid using them.

A quality spray wax cleaner is a better solution. This stuff does the job as long as you get the streaks when their fairly fresh, or shortly after the rain stops. You can use it for a quick cleaner wax for the rest of your boat too but it lacks longevity so I wouldnt use it in place of regular wax for a protectant.

It also will not correct surface marring or staining. But it is good for a spot cleaner or quick spruce up. I would have given it an additional star if it werent for the pricing. Itnot a good value.

Used this on my camper. After washing and letting it dry I sprayed the wax on. I thoroughly wiped every area of the camper including the windows. I then went back and wiped it all down with a clean terry cloth hand towel.

In typical Meguire’s fashion this product put a nice clean luster on my paint. And feeling how super smooth the paint is I’m sure it will protect the finish from rain. I have used Meguire’s automotive products since I have been driving 40 years.

It can’t be beat!!.

Brought a nice shine to my boat, but something in the formula attracts the flys. Didn’t have a bug problem before use and the boats on either side don’t have the issue. Very weird!

Red and black gelcoat had some minor oxidation (chalking). Applied this product, and it did remove most chalking. Applied it again to remove the last bit, and that is when this product left an oily residue on my hull which is impossible (for me) to remove.

Film looks as bad as the chalk that I intended to remove in the first place. It appeared like the product “pulled” an oily substance out of my gel — perhaps drying it out and hardening the surface in the process? But that is only a guess on my part.

Support is very professional and well trained. They answer the phone quickly. 3M support advice to remove the oily film; (1. Re-apply. 2. wash with dawn and water. 3. try diluted rubbing alcohol). None of those suggestions remedied the film.

Man, I love my Allison and really wanted to make it gleem. So I am still struggling to find a remedy. 3M Support informed me that customers commonly make two novice mistakes (and of course I made both mistakes): 1.

Applied too much product (only use a small dot on the buffer for a 2’x2′ area). 2. Allowed product to dry before removing (never allow this product to dry to a haze). Support instructed me to read the 3M Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) as a remedial correction.

After all, I found SOP to be inadequate to prevent customers from making those two most common mistakes. Overall, 3M Instructions are inadequate. This is surprising given 3M reputation as top tier brand.

For example, the bottle itself does not even have ANY instructions. Finding their SOP page is arduous at best, and I was told to watch the videos! LOL I hope sharing my experience may prevent you from making typical customer mistakes.

Bottom line, if you are not in the business of detailing gelcoat you are better off with a spray on instant wax detailer instead of using this product. Be careful folks.

My red boat was pinkish from oxidation. For the last three years we tried many oxidation removing and shine restore products, and the results were miserable! Usually withing a week the finish was gone and the boat was pink again.

This product really did the job!! It worked best to completely cover the oxidized areas with a thin coat of the 3M Perfect-It compound, then buff it with a polisher. This product actually WORKS!!! We could not be happier!.

I have use this with the perfect it boat wash and finished with colonite wax. It did a fair job and the longevity was acceptable. I am no expert but I think a stand alone polish after the light compound/polish product would make for a better overall job.

I used the recommended wool 3m wool pad for this product at 2500rpms. Any thoughts and advice are welcome. Chris.

This polish brought out the luster of the rV gel coat, which is 16 years old. It also left the finish feeling smooth. Other polishes that I used did not leave the finish in this smooth condition. This is a great polish for any gel coated RV.

Also very easily applied – No need to wait for it to haze over. Excellent product!!!.

This is a superior product for fiberglass and gelcoat boat use. It really is obvious how well it works by seeing the before and after look and feel of the surface. I did a medium effort with the 3M marine rubbing compound first.

I have rubbed out and waxed cars for years and this combination works the best I have seen for its intended application period.

It’s a bit pricey, but wow! is it worth it. I used it on the fiberglass on a Boston Whaler that I’m restoring. After cleaning with acetone and wet sanding with 1500 grit I then applied two coats of Scotchgard Marine.

It goes on really smooth, dries in about ten minutes, and comes off with a micro fiber cloth with no effort at all. Unlike any other wax I have ever used. That’s all I have to say.

Received the order pretty quickly. I did pretty large sections and it never seemed to get to that really dry haze, like other products I’ve used. None the less, it was fairly easy to buff off and the shine was as expected.

I will continue to use it.

I was fixing up our new to us RV because I noticed it was absorbing water instead of repelling. After I buffed it out with compound, I put this wax on. I’ve never waxed anything before, but it was so easy to use, worked just like it said in the instructions, and created a fantastic waterproof coating.

I’ll definitely stick with this wax, especially since it’s part of an incredible system. Love it!.

My boat detailer insists on this product. He says its the best. I bring it to him in Mexico. Its hard to keep my boat looking good because its a 14 years old blue hull and this works best. Wish I could find it in Mexico.

Easy to work in, and shines the camper well. Leaves nice gloss, but not for taking out spots, streaks, etc.

I washed my truck and was going to wax it up. I carelessly did not pay attention to the cleaner wax I pulled out of my box of cleaners and waxes. I was half way through when I thought wow this is coming up like new.

Looked at the bottle and began to panic. It was not a car wax cleaner but my boat cleaner wax “Meguiar’s Cleaner Wax” I had to finish what I started and it was the best mistake I had ever made,,,,The best shine my truck has ever had!!! and still does.

It is easy to apply however no easier any other wax on the market. I have only used it once this past weekend so I cannot yet comment on the long lasting durability of this product. I bought this hoping the durability would make this stand out over all other similar wax products.

Too early to accurately review.

Meguiars Flagship wax is the best wax I have found to keep my 5th wheel trailer looking good. It is easy to apply and buffs off to a high shine which lasts a long time. That is important since the trailer is large and frequent waxing is not easy.

When I first saw a friend’s results using this wax, I knew this was the best I’ve seen over the years. It has continued to prove its superior quality. I still can’t find another wax even equal to it in ease of application and depth of shine.

The media could not be loaded. Colinite is great for the boat or car! I used to use this on my car back in the 90s for car shows and I still use it today…you won’t disappointed in the finish.

I bought this and the 3M equivalent at the same time figuring I’d compare them. I started with this Meguires product and it went on super easily and made a great shine! I used this on my Travel Trailer (fiberglass sides) but haven’t tried it on my boat yet.

It brought a nice shine to my 5 year old trailer! I returned the 3M product because that required a polisher or a drill with a 3M polishing disk, which cost even more money. I am COMPLETLY happy with my results using this product! I found it easier to use when it was warmed in the sun.

It’s a bit thick and hard to squeeze out of the bottle if it’s cool.

I used this on my Hallmark Low Hauler black finish enclosed cycle trailer. This product worked great with my PC7424xp buffer and was easy to remove the left over residue. Followed with 2 coats of Meguiar’s Ultimate wax and the results were excellent for a 10 year old trailer.

Excellent shine and depth of color and it removed the minor scratched and swirls. Mirror finish in no time!.

Seems to be a good wax but I never expected it to be a semi paste. It doesn’t apply with my orbital buffer as well as the normal flagship wax does that doesn’t have the cleaner in it. We will see how it lasts.
