Supplies up to 2 sinks at a time (ES8 model). Provides hot water quickly at point-of-use. Units can be wall / floor mounted (bracket included) with multi-directional mounting available. Temperature / pressure relief valve included on ES8.
Glass-lined tank for long service life. Model ES8 has a hard wired connection.
This is a great point of use water heater. We use it under our kitchen sink which is the worst one in the house when it comes to getting hot water. I connected it to the hot water line. The only downside is that you absolutely have to replace the anode on a regular basis (6 months to a year).
It is inside the water heater and requires disconnecting wires and some disassembly. If you do not replace it, the water heater will corrode and leak. Otherwise it is fantastic.
Heater came in undamaged shipping box and with plastic caps on the water fittings. Could not thread the brass ell on the cold inlet. Found the threads were damaged multiple places. Was able to file the threads and then force a black iron cap on then install the brass fitting.
Very poor quality control from a name brand unit. This time I thought I would purchase a name brand unit to avoid problems – big mistake.
Plan to maintain this! Warranty is void if you don’t replace the anode every year! We’ve had ours in place for 2 years now and recently had a rotten egg smell. Discovered that these run through the anode relatively quickly.
You can’t install and expect to ignore it for years.

No hustle purchase and installation. Great customer support from vendor and Takagi. I definitely recommended and ready to purchase and install my second T-H3-DV-N. Will definitely recommended the commercial version to my sweetheart condominium complex HOA, as an excellent replacement for existing 14 Tank Water Heaters.
I have been thoroughly and successfully testing my new T-H3-DV-N under very realistic extreme conditions. I am very impressed with the quality and performance. I definitely recommend it. It is an amazing product.
I am a 40 years experienced Electrical Engineered and have specified, purchased, and used Industrial Heat Exchanges. A minor inconvenience, the teardrop mounting holes on the bottom mounting bracket are upside down.
I had to added fender washers. Also, the middle mounting hole on the top mounting bracket is behind the exhaust vent collar and therefore is inaccessible and useless. It need to be relocated. Both mounting brackets have rectangular holes that don’t serve any purpose or function, except for weakening the mounting brackets.
Strong mounting holes are very important and critical to meet California seismic bracing requirements. I already informed manufacturer and vendor of these mounting issues.
Girard’s new GSWH-2 is the culmination of years of research and experience. Endless hot water that is easy to operate, turn on the hot water and add cold water to the desired temperature. The on-board micro-processor monitors the incoming cold water temperature, the flow rate and the outgoing hot water temperature to maintain a constant, steady hot water flow.
The “state of the art” interior wall mounted digital controller shows the operating functions, allows for temperature setting from 95°F to 124°F, it also can be changed to Celsius. Parents will love the ability to pre-set the hot water temperature to a lower temperature and not worry that the water may get too hot! The UCP also features visual diagnostics which allows for easy trouble-shooting.
Finally, a water heater door that is easy to open and close. No more twist-latches! The hinged door and sliding latch allows fast, easy access to the water heater. The silicone exhaust ring moves for easy alignment of the exhaust tube.
We experienced an issue with our GSWH-2 in our Lance 2021 Model 1985 camper on the second night of our first trip. I call Girard’s Help Desk and their representative, Kyle, walked me through a couple of troubleshooting scenarios.
Basically if there is low water flow, the unit won’t go! Sure enough there were particles of some sort in the intake valve and restricting water flow. Within five minutes, following Kyle’s instructions, I had the water heater fired up and we will be taking a nice hot shower tonight.
Great customer service and so far, a great tankless water heater.
FloorLinerIn the quest for the most advanced concept in floor protection, the talented designers and engineers at WeatherTech have worked tirelessly to develop the most advanced floor protection available today! The WeatherTech FloorLiner accurately and completely lines the interior carpet giving “absolute interior protection”! The WeatherTech FloorLiner lines the interior carpet up the front, back and even up the sides of the vehicles footwell.
Digital laser measurements of interior surfaces offer a consistently perfect fit! A patent pending High-Density Tri-Extruded (HDTE) material allows for a rigid core for strength while offering surface friction to the carpet, as well as tactile feel to the surface! Advanced surfacing creates channels that carry fluids and debris to a lower reservoir with further channeling to help minimize fluid movement while driving! Once fluids become trapped in the reservoir, away from shoes and clothing, they are easily removed from the WeatherTech FloorLiner over the door sill.
No muss-no fuss! WeatherTech, where Technology and All Weather Protection meet! Please note that the on-screen color representations are not necessarily precise representations of actual product colors due to variance in monitor calibrations.
This unit works great, and provides enough hot water to take a shower – if you use very little water, and turn it off when shampooing / conditioning your hair. It’s a great way to save water! The recovery time is decent, and the water does get very hot (if you set the temp high).
The T-H3M supplies hot water to domestic hot water systems (directly or indirectly) which can be used with storage tanks, recirculation systems, hydronic heating systems, radiant floor systems, and/or domestic & heating applications.

I have two of these units. One for domestic hot water and one closed loop unit for radiant floor heat with glycol in the system. They are amazingly efficient. When they are running full blast you can wrap your hands around the metal collar of the exhaust and it is just warm to the touch.
All of the heat goes into the water. I am very impressed. But if you want to use them seasonally, make sure you drain them and blow them out as instructed to avoid freezing. Also make sure you dont have mice that might find them to be a nice home.
Nicely priced economical & quality built unit! I really like the digital indicator! The only unit I know of that requires only a 1/2″ gas fuel source line, however, if using corrugated flex line for gas supply; beware when the inbound water temp is really low; and depending on config and length of fuel line; you may encounter issues with required temp rise.
One install I had to upgrade the fuel line trunk & have utility co upgrade the gas meter as they had a lot of gas powered appliances on it. The savings really came the first summer months when we use up the min 3 therms of monthly min gas billing.
We LOVE the endless hot water! The savings combined with a hefty rebate have paid for the unit in its entirety in only a matter of months, not years! Maintenance is required/ not optional: Unlike tank heaters (which also require factory maintenance (that no one does); the tank less heaters demand maintenance – you;ll experience fluctuation in water temp.
Would be nice if supply house would package a descale kit wit low flow submersible pump bucket and cleaner – I would also make that purchase with every one I buy. Last I knew supply house does not carry the low flow submersible pumps that are needed for descaling.
This install I installed a toggle switched outlet for maintenance purposes; Next one I’d consolidate the hot & cold water feed lines on the left of the unit for two reasons, one to warm the inbound water a bit for start up (no real issue) just as consideration; to shorten the run & remove any potential issue(s) with the gas line placement.
I used 3/4″ flex as the end of the trunk and adapted to the 1/2″ at hook up, this eliminated issues with having sufficient fuel while the 75k btu furnace shared fuel source at start up (this flex is also self-grounding!) Similar to clearance for gas line, leave clearance for the PRV also at the bottom left when planing water supply runs.
Triangle Tube is best known for two things: feats of hydronic innovation and incredibly efficient products. These qualities are intertwined in Triangle Tube’s Smart Series Indirect Fired water heaters.
The Smart water heaters feature an exclusive “tank-in-tank” design that Triangle Tube has been refining for three decades. To heat domestic water, the outer tank of the Smart 40 fills with boiler water and the surface of the inner tank becomes a heat exchanger.
Two inches of polyurethane insulation ensures that your domestic hot water stays hot, and stainless steel construction of the inner tank provides exceptional durability. When it comes to making a decision on your next water heater, the Smart lives up its name.
Tank-in-Tank Safety High temperatures prevent the growth of bacteria. High quality stainless steel and Triangle Tube’s tank-in-tank design allow your domestic hot water to be stored at higher temperatures than traditional water heaters.
Features Incredible Recovery Rate The large surface area of the inner tank means that water is heated very quickly. Smart Series Indirect Fired water heaters boast a recovery rate up to 300% greater than that of conventional water heaters.
Self-Cleaning The inner tank of the Smart 40 is contoured to promote water movement.
Ordered a replacement tank. The 13 year original started to leak. Figured I would spend the money, so I wouldn’t need to do any refitting. Wrong answer! It seems that the manufacturer has changed the orientation of the bungs, for the boiler connections, to the supply lines.
My original tank had the boiler and supply lines running perpendicular to each other. The new tank came with bungs and supply fittings running parallel, and inline, to each other. Also, the T&P valve that supply house recommends, has a MIP thread, to install it to the stub out on the tank (just like my old tank).
The new tank comes with a MIP stub out for the T&P valve, so you’ll need a 3/4″ FIP coupler to make it work.
I researched this tank before I purchased it, and one review said that it rusted out in a very short time. I read also that any boiler or tank will rust if you install it in an uncontrolled environment.
So I made sure to install it in a insulated space where condensation would not occur. It is condensation that causes rust. But it started leaking in just 4. 5 years. It has a 10 year warranty, so Triangle Tube first worked with me to confirm the tank was bad, an not just the tank’s dry well.
The tank was bad alright, so after They received some pictures of it and the area around it, they confirmed that it was bad and ended up sending me a new one. I hope it will last 20 years or more this time since these tanks are expensive.
I would like to see Triangle Tube make it easier to drain the inner tank. Currently you have to siphon out the water to drain the inner tank while the outer boiler tank has a standard hose bib like a ordinary gas fired water heater.
They need to make it easier to drain the inner tank.
Steel tanks with porcelain lining. Anode rod protects against electrolysis. SW6DE, 6 Gal. , 12000BTU, Combination electronic ignition & electric model, 12-11/16 inches x 12-11/16 inches x 19-3/16 inches.
The purpose of buying the SW6DE, instead of just the SW6D model was to have two modes of heating water. The old unit failed intermittently last trip, got to take a couple of cold showers, not good. This unit was an easy upgrade, relatively simple installation with only adding three 120 Volt wires for electric heat.
Water heater was 3 feet from electrical panel, so no need to run extensive wiring. Very satisfied with the product. Suburban has reliable products, the old one was a 1998 model, so extended service is what I expect.
The installation instructions were clear. Rick Nock, Texas.
Great little water heater. My original lasted 20 years and finally developed a leak and I replaced it with this new one. Installation was fairly straight forward except the large copper propane line was difficult to lineup in the confined space.
On the propane settings, this water heater makes more than enough hot water for a long shower.
The Smart 316 Series Stainless Steel Indirect Fired Water Heater is heated by the hot water from your boiler. As your commercial space is being heated, your domestic hot water is being heated simultaneously, thereby consuming less fuel and conserving energy.
Combine this with a recovery rate of up to three times faster than conventional gas or electric water heaters. The SMART 316 Series Indirect Fired Water Heater heats more hot water with less fuel for the energy-conscious owner.
The average life span of a SMART 316 Series Indirect Fired Water Heater exceeds 20 years! That is two or three times the average life of conventional gas, oil, or electric water heater.
This was a replacement for a similar 11 year old unit. There are slight differences in the location of connections which make installation more difficult than anticipated. The unit itself is great and efficient.
The old unit had about six or more inches of rusty sludge in the bottom so I wonder about its ability to clean itself. However replacing our unit resulted in a great improvement in water taste and rust buildup.
The price was very reasonable, product warranty has also improved over the 11 year old model. Delivery was quoted as arriving between Monday and Wednesday but the trucking company missed this window and I had to contact them for their delivery date.
That made scheduling installation a bit of a challenge. Anyway, it started up seamlessly using our existing heat control system. Plenty of hot water now at our fingertips.
This hot water heater was very easy to install. The directions were easy to follow and very clear. What impressed me the most was how fast this unit makes hot water. After installation and I filled the unit as directed and checked for leaks.
Finding none, I activated the zone it was on. Less than 30 minutes later the homeowners reported they had 144 degree hot water at the tap. Realizing this was too hot, I turned down the aquastat and dialed into the temperature they wanted.
They are now able to use both of their showers, the dishwasher, clothes washer and fill their large tub without issue.
Stiebel Eltron Tempra 24 Plus Water Heater is compared to a conventional electric tank water heater, a water heater will typically use 15-20% less energy, although savings can be substantially higher depending on usage habits.
Conventional electric tank water heaters continually store hot water and as a result lose 15-20% of the total energy they consume to the environment around them. This is called standby heat loss.
The 1700 Series water heater provides hot water for galley and shower. Dense foam insulation provides better and longer heat retention than traditional fiberglass. The tank itself is protected by a 75 PSI T& P ( temperature and pressure) relief valve.
The cylindrical design of the tank enables it to withstand more pressure than a cube shaped tank. Heat exchanger models can be connected to the engine cooling system. This provides the added convenience of hot water when underway or generator power is not available.
The innovative heat exchanger is over seven feet in length and is evenly coiled throughout the interior of the tank, providing hot water rapidly and efficiently. Raritans water heaters use an ignition protected thermostat.
Although it is factory set to 120 F, it is adjustable from 110 to 160 F and has a safety shut down limit of 190 F. All models and sizes have the plumbing connections on the same side to simplify installation.
Hot and cold water connections are 3 4 in. male NPT (National Pipe Thread).
On a boat that has crossed the Atlantic twice and is now in the Pacific heading for Alaska. I seem to have a slight leak in my 25 year old Raritan. And even after 25 years, the leak is probably my fault because i did not realize there is an anode (aka zinc) that I should have replaced eons ago.
This water heater will keep the water very hot for 12 hours, hot for 24 hours and warm for 48+ hours and that’s in cool climates and sea water. The only option is with or without an heat exchanger, which uses the hot coolant from the engine to heat the water.
I obviously like that because I run the engine a lot and it uses no electricity until I need to run the generator. Again, boats are tough on things like water heaters, boats in salt water even more so, so 25 years is as much as one could possibly hope for.
I have limited space and luckily Raritan has not significantly changed the size and footprint of this hot water heater. That said, there is a new trim on the bottom that is larger than the stated diameter of the water heater.
My version has the heat exchanger option but was easy to install because I was replacing an older worn out water heater Installation is more difficult if you need to route engine coolant to the water heater.
All in all, this is a pretty easy nuts and bolts plumbing installation.
I installed my 12 gal Raritan in my boat in 1986. I only had to replace the heating element once. Other than that I have had no problem until now, Sept. 2018. That is 32 yrs. WOW I will now order a replacement 12 gal Raritan to put into the boat just where the other one was.
It ran off of Dock Power and my Engine, so I always had plenty of hot water on the boat.
Stiebel Eltron DHM 3 Unvented Instananeous Water Heater 3. 5kW Stiebel water heaters from the PlumbNation water heating collection. The Stiebel Eltron DHM3 Unvented Instananeous Water Heater is part of the DHM range of hydraulically controlled pressurised compact instantaneous water heaters designed for applications where space is at a premium.
Due to their slim size this range of water heater is ideal for light commercial and small domestic washbasin areas. The Stiebel Eltron DHM 3 Unvented Instananeous Water Heater when installed near a point of use, will supply immediate hot water and in the exact quantity that is required, hence deeming this unit extremely efficient, as there are no pipe runs or stored water thus eliminating any thermal heat loss.
This should then reflect a significant reduction in operating costs. The DHM 3 Unvented Water Heater is available with rated output of 3. 5KW.
Only worked for a few weeks then the water occasionally comes out lukewarm after waiting 5 minutes. Fast forward 3 months it doesn’t ever work anymore. Wait 5-8 minutes just to get lukewarm water. Now its summer time and the water coming out of the pipes without using this unit is actually hottest since I’ve installed this unit.
I love the idea of it. Functionally and practically it works fine. it just took us a lot longer to set it up. the nozzle conversion didn’t fit and we went through 3 different sizes/threads, even with a plumber’s help.
It takes a little getting used to. less pressure. Be patient, it takes 7 – 10 seconds to heat up. (but that’s waaaay less than what we had, while wasting all that water in the line).
Rheem Professional Classic 30 Gal. Electric tall water heater provides an ample supply of hot water for households with 1 people to 2 people. This unit comes with two 4500-Watt elements and an automatic thermostat which keeps the water at the desired temperature.
A 240-Volt electrical connection is required for installation. A premium grade anode rod provides long-lasting tank protection. Factory installed temperature and pressure relief valve and 3/4 in.
Very displeased with rheem warranty experience. My water heater burned up and it was apart of a warrant claim. http://www. rheem. com/recalls I called and was sent an email and opened up original case # 525522 where I sent pictures of my burnt up water heater(which I still have my pictures) which this water heater was 4 years old and apart of a recall.
After I sent in the pictures I had talked to a lady in regards to getting the pictures. She mentioned that it was really bad and rheem was going to send me an email so then I can go to Home Depot and find an equivalent water heater at no charge.
But when I called in the next day no one had any clue what I was talking about and sent me an email but they started a new case 527959. Which is really odd they would give me a new case number. they must have gave me a new case number since they didn’t want help out with a recalled product.
The second case number I got the email that mentioned I am now getting a new part instead of getting a new electric water heater. I have yet to see this supposed part that was issued. there is no way anyone can go this long without a water heater.
literally 1 1/2 months. I am truly disappointed with the customer service and time it is taking for this to get taken care of. I had to go out an buy a brand new water heater because I couldn’t wait that long for the part to come in and this was issued 4/28.
I had to spend over $600 dollars on this new unit as well as a $250 labor charge for them to remove and replace the new unit. it is pretty sad because when I first sent the picture I was told that because it was burnt up badly that I should be getting an email in regards to an approval to go to Home Depot and find an equivalent one at no charge.
but when I called since I didn’t receive the email on the approval to go to Home Depot to get an equivalent one. I called then a new case easy wrote up and they were supposed to send a part. I am very unhappy with the customer service since pretty much nothing has been done to get this fixed fast enough done this went out 4/23.
and it is now 6/15 and I still have not gotten any response back from rheem. No one ever get rheem product since they are not helpful at all. This needs to get straightened out because there is no help at all because I am out a lot of money to get this taken care of when rheem should have taken care of a majority of the expense.
I just replaced my older Rheem water heater with a new, upgraded Performance Plus model. Very easy install took only 30 minutes and I turned on the heater. The indicator lights were confusing and the manual was even more confusing.
After going online to the Rheem website, I learned the new, two element tanks were designed to switch automatically between upper and lower element. Everything was fine, although the manual indicated there could be a problem with one of the elements.
The thing I find quite troubling is that this issue with the operating manual was identified in reviews going back more than 5 years. It would seem that a company that supplies such good products would be anxious to correct that simple issue that has caused so many home owners such concern.
I bought & installed the 40-Gal. electric version less than 2 years ago for our vacation home in the PA Pocono Mountains. It’s installed in a small utility room in the basement where we only power it up when we’re there for a visit.
It worked fine initially but recently started giving us Leak-Detection alarms which, since there’s no indication of a leak, I assume might be due to the higher humidity conditions there during the summer months.
I clear the alarm to turn the automatic shut-off valve back on and it restores operation for 24 hours. only to have the alarm reactivate at that time. I’ve called Customer Support twice just to be given directions on how to access the moisture-sensor and dry it off.
Since it’s still under the 3-year “unconditional warranty” period, I was hoping for a visit by a service person but that didn’t happen. I tried having a fan move the surrounding air with no success. Operation seems to be better in the winter months when the utility room is heated and, I assume, drier.
Unfortunately there’s no way to deactivate the leak-detector alarm or change the sensitivity. it sure would be nice if it had one of those options!.

We have been building restaurants for over 25 years and on our last install the plumber in question installed one of these units. 3-1/2 years later the unit sprung a leak and AOSmith would not stand by it, saying they only warranty them for 3 years.
We have used many heaters in other locations (not AO Smith) which have always lasted for more than 10 years. We will never buy AOSmith products again and wanted to spread the word. Check out other reviews on other sites to get the story!.
Keeps up with hot water demand. I replace my old water heater. It arrived within a few days, unfortunately, no weekend delivery available. Need some strong people to move it. It’s heavy. Even though it was pricey, it was still cheaper than buying through a local plumbing company.
Owner of hotel purchased this heater thru supply house. I removed old heater and installed one of these 100 gallon cyclones. Installation was a breeze ! I wish I would have timed how long it took to heat first tank of water to 120.
I don’t think it took more than 10 minutes !! This heater is a BEAST ! ! LOVE IT.
Rheem Marathon non-metallic electric water heaters are durable, lightweight, and warranted not to leak as long as you own your home. Seamless, blow-molded, polybutene tank-impervious to rust and corrosion.
Multiple layers of filament wound fiberglass give the tank unmatched strength. Polyurethane insulation helps reduce energy consumption. Recessed drain valve is out of the way brooms and scrubbers. Tough molded polyethylene outer shell resists dents, scratches, and salt air.
Very good water heater. Default temp is 140oF which is set hotter than my last one but I’ve left it there so that we can use less hot water at a time. The whole thing is plastic which is why they can provide the lifetime warranty (provided you register it otherwise it’s only 10 year).
Because even the base is plastic, it wobbles a bit during installation – even on level ground – which makes me question the stability when it’s full but so long as you don’t body-check it, you should be fine.
Mine has not moved and it’s been installed for 3 months now. It’s much bigger and taller than my old metal one but that is apparently due to increased insulation so account for the larger size in your space.
When it arrived I thought it was the wrong one because the package read 42 Gallons and I bought a 50 Gallon tank. The difference is 42 Imperial Gallons is 50 US Gallons. Go figure! They advertise the higher number so watch out for that as well.
It seems like a bait and switch but they just use the conversion to their advantage. Aside from these little sales technique things, the heater itself is working very well for me. I look forward to the low to no maintenance of the plastic body – no rods to replace.
Recommend a professional install it for you. I was going to do it myself but there are unseen dangers and liability issues with insurance if you install it yourself. DIYers beware. Not impossible to do but I err’d on the side of caution.
I purchased a new 40 gallon Electric Marathon a couple of weeks ago and installed it last Saturday. The install was pretty straightforward, but when I began filling the tank, the vacuum relief valve immediately started leaking.
I called Rheem support and after 20 minutes on hold spoke with a support representative. Her first question was “whether I was sure the leak was coming from the valve and not one of my other connections?”.
No, I’m looking right at the valve and can tell where the leak is coming from. Okay, “you can purchase a replacement at Lowes or Home Depot and we’ll reimburse you, or we can ship one”. I check with both retailers and neither have the valve in stock, so I ask that they ship one.
They tell me it will be 2 – 4 days before it ships, but I can call back on Monday to ask for expedited shipping. I ask what the cost for expediting will be. No idea, that’s not my department. So I call back today (another 30 minutes on hold) and am told that it will cost me an extra $30 to have a defective valve from a brand new water heater shipped to me more quickly.
The alternative is 2 – 4 more days with no hot water. This is fantastically poor customer service. Once the new valve is installed, it’s possible I’ll never have another problem with the water heater.
But the sting of this poor first experience with Rheem is what I’ll remember, and what I’ll be telling all my friends and co-workers about.
I had been eyeing this tank on the basis that the 14 y. o. + tank in my new home would eventually go. It leaked a year after we closed. Fortunately, the local HD has these in stock (at least always 2 it seems, as that’s how many are always on the floor shortly after one gets purchased).
The tank is very light so a single person is able to move and get it into position with relative ease (we had a dolly so we could wheel out the heavy old tank and wheel in the new one with ease). Installation is pretty elementary.
Hook up the water inlet and outlet, and power. Easier if you don’t have to sweat a joint (or know how to – harder with leadless solder). Do note that the top of the tank is somewhat flexible so pipes may not stay straight up as with a steel tank.
The tank also has a narrower base and is taller than a standard tank so bracing these with earthquake retention straps is a good idea. Seems to heat pretty fast (1 hr to very hot water when we first turned it on).
We’re turning down the thermostats as the default Canadian setting of 60C is too hot. Do note that the box and label on the tank states that the tank is 50 imperial gallons (~227 litres) though Rheem’ website doesn’t list such a size (nothing between a 50 (189l) and an 85 (321l) U.
For the most part installation went fine. The only problem was the height. It is 78″ tall so if you have that much clearance at the top plus for the pipes you should be OK. It worked as it should and I am happy with this Heater.
The water heater over in our detached garage/apartment was getting up there in age and we replaced it with this 40 gallon unit. I have installed several water heaters in previous houses and I was confident that I could install this on my own, but I opted for the assistance of my next door neighbor since he is a licensed plumber and he had spare time this past weekend.
From start to finish, the draining and removal of the old unit and the complete installation of the new unit took a couple hours. My neighbor ran into no difficulties and installation and lighting were as expected.
While this unit is not the water heater for our main house, it has been having no problems keeping up with demand for 3 people, with one individual taking longer (30+ min) hot showers daily to multiple times daily.
The hot water heater is quiet and produces hot water sufficiently. The energy sticker indicates that in the first hour, 83 gallons of hot water will be provided. Having gas connections on the property means I am extra cautious with appliances.
Safety features are very important. I like that this unit has a self diagnostic feature that is quick to view via the LED light, helping take guesswork out of diagnosing. The light blinks yellow when everything is running smoothly, but no light or red means there is an issue to be addressed.
The inclusion of the SmartShield Safety System and overheating protection included with this unit provide peace of mind as a property owner. A new to me feature that I liked seeing is the vacation (low) setting to help conserve energy.
We haven’t had our first full month’s bill to see if it has decreased much, but this unit is more efficient, so we should see some decrease, even with rising energy costs. The anode rod will help extend the quality and life of the tank and the generous warranty is attractive.
GE is a household name we have relied on for quality and dependability since our first home purchase over 15 years ago. This unit is well built and I like that a majority of the parts are made in the USA, allowing those living on our property to not sacrifice either comfort or safety for a high quality, reliable product.
The hot water heater in my home was over 20 years old and ready to be replaced. This 40 gallon unit from GE was the perfect replacement. Having no experience in this department at all, I did have a friend who is a licensed plumber do the install and it was completed in under 2 hours.
Lighting instructions are printed right on the temperature control & I found it very easy to light the water heater using the knob located at the bottom of the unit. The LED light on the thermostat will blink yellow every few seconds to show that the pilot is lit and there is a little see thru window to view the lit pilot as well.
One of the things I noticed immediately with this new water heater is how quiet it is compared to our old one. I have a family of 4 and we have had no issues thus far with showers turning cold. There are also a lot of great safety features which includes shutting off the gas automatically if the pilot goes out or if it goes above normal temperatures.
It’s great to have peace of mind when it comes to appliances in the home when they include safety features like these. GE has been a brand that I have always trusted and I love that they have good quality American made products.
This unit is no exception and I’m impressed with the quality and features, definitely recommend!.
We had an 11 year-old 60 gallon water heater, and we were a little concerned replacing it with this unit. Even on 60 gallons, if we all took a shower, the water would start to get cold with the three of us.
(We like our hot water. ) Thankfully, this unit is able to keep up and then some. We haven’t run into any issues. The energy sticker says it produces 83 gallons of hot water initially. This is most likely due to the 40,000 BTU burner.
There are 60 gallon heaters with the same BTU on the market, so it’s a good ratio. Installation was as expected. This is a taller and skinnier unit, so unless you have limited height clearance, you should be fine.
The total height is just under 4 feet. The LED diagnostic is a nice perk as well if you have any issue down the road. I’ve had to get underneath them in the past, and let’s just say that your future self will thank you if you have this feature.
The best part is the energy savings. It actually heating less water which means it also uses less gas to heat as well. It has a wide range Temperature control which means you can easily turn it down or up to fit your needs while using as little energy as possible.
Overall, this is perfect for a family of 3. If you don’t need a big tank, it’s more efficient to go with a unit like this. GE is a no brainer. Reliable, made in the USA with a 12 year warranty.
A. O. A. O. Smith’s 30-gallon model is designed to last. It features dual copper heating elements, a protective anode rod and a ceramic fused tank shield designed to reduce corrosion and provide ultimate tank protection.
It also features a self-cleaning dip tube designed to reduce sediment build-up and extend the overall life of the water heater. Want to save money on your energy bills? This model operates at a 0. 89 Uniform Energy Factor (UEF) which can reduce your energy consumption compared to less efficient models.
Not sure if this is the right water heater for you?.
I installed this in my garage today (9/7/2022). The installation was conventional in every way. Empty, the tank is easily moved into position by one person. Wiring is basic 220V single-phase and the plumbing is simple using short Sharkbite flex lines between the tank and the homes copper water lines just as has been my practice for the past.
No drips/no leaks. I particularly like that there is a pre-installed low-point drain spigot. This spigot is plastic but previous tanks that I have installed, I used metal spigots. So, I am hoping that that this plastic one will open and close without issues.
I’ll find out soon enough I suppose. This is the only questionable feature and only time will tell. Element life is another yet-to-be-determined aspect but I have confidence in AO Smith, my first one of this brand.
I bout this and installed about a month ago. I replaced a another brand that lasted 8 years before leaking. This one came with heat trap nipples already installed. Only had to install pressure relief valve which is located on top.
Can possibly pull plug on standard location and put PRV on the side using the plug for the top hole. They call it a temperature and pressure valve or T&P, but with excess temp comes excess pressure. We’ve always just called them RV’s.
This 50 gallon unit far exceeds the last 40 gallon. I tend to take 15 minute showers. This provides hot water throughout. The old one I had to keep adjusting blend until I was out of hot water. Troubleshooted everything.
All tested good. Just a low quality brand that Lowe’s carried 8 years ago. A water heater is a tank and elements. Not rocket science, but the increased capacity, plus better thermostats must make a world of difference.
Remember to purge all air out before energizing, adjust both thermostats to 140F and you will be good to go. Flush sediment every six months to one year. Replace anode every three years. Have one still in service that was installed in 1994.
Stick with A. O. Smith, keep up with maintenance, and document with a sharpie on the side every time for reference. This heater should last a over ten years without doubt. Depending on multiple factors in your water, maybe 20 or 30.
A. O. Leak Watch Smart technology immediately alerts you of a leak giving you time to react. Its electronic user interface allows you to easily set temperature, operating mode, and child safety lock feature.
This unit is Leak Shield shut off valve capable (valve available for purchase separately). It is designed for households with 3 to 4 people when sized appropriately. A. O. Smith’s 50-gallon model has dual copper heating elements and a protective anode rod.
This model also has Tank Guard advanced tank protection extending the life of your water heater. It features a self-cleaning dip tube designed to reduce sediment build-up and extend the overall life of the water heater.
Want to save money on your energy bills? This model operates at a 0. 92 Uniform Energy Factor (UEF) which can reduce your energy consumption compared to less efficient models. Not sure if this is the right water heater for you?.
As a Professional Engineer and retired QA Manager, I can appreciate the thoughtful design features and build quality of this HWH. My old HWH (diff brand) was just 5 years old and also had digital controls but lacked leak detection with auto shut off of water+power.
When its old expansion tank suddenly failed the water spray toasted its controls, the 220 volt junction box was arcing, and there was other damage to the Laundry Rm. This new HWH could have saved me $2000+ and a lot of trouble! Long term reliability is unknown but I expect it to be fine.
I did not connect it to WiFi because that isn’t necessary for the leak sensor and auto-shutoff to function. (BTW, use of leak detection shut-off feature is optional, as the floor level sensor can be unplugged.
A diff brand has reportedly had false trip issues with its bottom-of-HWH sensors. ) We also didn’t use the utility grid control feature because our utility doesn’t give a decent $$ incentive. But both of those can be very nice features for others.
to use. I’ll amend my review if there are any HWH problems but really don’t expect any. Two Thumbs Up for this A. O. Smith HWH.
I bought and installed the EE9-50H55DV myself with the help of a friend. My previous hot water heater had broken and it would be over a week before a plumber in my area could come out. Had a friend who maintains an apartment complex to help me install it.
We unhooked the old one and put in the new one within 10 minutes. When you turn the power on to the unit it will cycle through for about 5-10 minutes on the digital display and then it’s ready to go.
You can manually adjust the temperature on the display or follow the directions to connect to the Wi-Fi (I would advise connecting to your 2. 4Ghz signal rather than the 5Ghz as most devices like this seems to operate mostly on this frequency).
The thing that sold me on this unit was the fact that my old water heater was a 40 gallon and this one was a 50 gallon and also the ability to connect to my phone on the AOSmith app to be able to control and monitor the energy usage better.
It will also alert you if the hot water heater is having an issue! Win, win for me!.
I bought this water heater at Lowe’s on August 24, 2022. It is not the one we wanted and if we ordered the one wanted, it would have been a month to get it. We decided on this one. We do not care about all of this wireless extra stuff.
My wife just bought a printer and can’t even hook to internet to get wireless, so it is pointless. Not everyone has the luxury of this. Ok, so far water heater is doing its job. It states to have water set on 130 degrees but getting burned every time you turn the hot water on is a bit much.
Way too hot for skin contact at this temp. so, we do know that the thermostat is working properly. It did leak at the top where you connect the lines and was able to tighten lines without stripping. It was fairly easy to install on my own.
Gauges on front panel easy to read and to enter the correct temperature. We did put in the 130 degrees and left it there for about 2 weeks, but that was just too hot. It’s too early to really give a recommendation, that is why I put 4 stars.
Give me at least 6 months and I’ll give you an update.
Efficient Electric Hot Water The A. O. Smith Voltex line heats water with a high efficiency electric heat pump rather than conventional electric methods. This provides efficient hot water while also helping to dehumidify and cool the ambient air around the unit.
Multiple Operating Modes The FPTU-50 comes with 3 different operating modes: Efficiency, Hybrid, and Electric, to meet any and all hot water needs. Hybrid mode automatically adjusts between the compressor and heating element.
Vacation mode reduces costs for up to 99 days. Coreguard Anode Rod.
I got this water heater to replace my oil-fired water heater that gave me endless hot water and home heat. I am glad to be off oil! The heat will be replaced with a heat pump. I have not run out of hot water yet and I do not expect to.
I think it has only used the heat pump to keep the water hot. I am currently running in “Hybrid” mode am going to try “Efficiency” mode to see if that works. My electric bill went up $10. 00 for the month but I am not sure that was all because of the water heater.
The sound is twice as loud as a refrigerator. I have a 1632sqft 3-bedroom split entry home with 2 full baths, one with a deep tub and large rain shower head. Longest shower I have taken to date was 35 minutes.
The unit is installed in my garage and is set at 140 degrees. The installation was difficult because the input/output on the unit are not on the top. Be prepared to replumb your piping and plan where your condensate is going to go.
Plumbing codes differ from state and county so do good research. Be sure to install additional heat traps made out of the pipe, they work well. If you are tired of burning or want an electrical upgrade this unit is worth the price and hassle.
My AO Smith Hybrid electric water heater’s heat pump compressor quit working. AO Smith was contacted and they approved a replacement from the original supplier, which was SupplyHouse. Called SupplyHouse and gave them the authorization number, was put on hold for a minute or so and then advised that they would be shipping out a replacement.
It was shipped out the next day. It was as easy as ordering the original one.

Featuring a temperature and pressure (T&P) relief valve, this ETL-listed electric heater is designed to promote safety. It has a height of 47-7/8″ (from the floor to the top of the heater) and a jacket diameter of 22″.
It includes non-CFC foam insulation that minimizes heat loss, leading to less energy consumption. For over 100 years, Bradford White has established a credible name in the industry. It has given us highly efficient, eco-friendly, and technologically advanced water heaters.
Easy as usual. ONLY thing customer’s need to REMEMBER. DO NOT TURN THE POWER ON UNTIL the tank is completely full AND bled. The heating element failure on new water heaters is almost ALWAYS exclusively because of over ambitious customer’s or plumbers turning the power ON BEFORE the tank is full and air is bled off.
See it ALL too frequently sadly. Then a good product gets a unjust poor review.
Had it delivered about 2 weeks after initial purchase, which isn’t bad imo. It’s a nice slim water heater and I’m proud it’s USA made. Water comes on hot quickly and is almost infinite haha. I’ll try and update my review as I use it more.
Just moved into a brand new house with a Bradford White RE350S6-1NCWW water heater and within 5 minutes of taking a shower the water goes cold. You would think a 50 gallon tank would suffice but it does not.
The recovery time on the tank is extremely long too.
