20 Best Watches For The Money (2023 Updated)

This watch was a graduation present given after my BBA; it is an amazing watch. I believe it is one of (if not the) best seller(s) in 2021, and it is for a reason. I had received the automatic (pm80), but whether quartz or powermatic 80, it is an unbelievable watch that is awesome for pretty much any occasion.

In other words – it is extremely versatile. To top it off, you will never get looked down on by the “watch community” (if that matters to you) because most know it is an amazing entry watch. Otherwise known as the classic “gateway watch”.

I have one but if advice though – it seems that a lot of these watch makers are moving to 42mm and above case sizes, so I would advise to get this in 40mm before the new model comes out! That is what I did with my Tissot Visodate, and I don’t regret it one bit.

No respectable watch collector wants a huge, gawdy hunk of metal hanging from their wrist. but you still have the chance to avoid that right now! I hope this review helps. Even if you are not sure about the 70’s/80’s design – it grows on you.

What a fantastic time piece! I ordered the watch on Saturday and got it the next day, although it was scheduled for Monday delivery. Could not be happier! I know I’m still in the honeymoon with this :)) , but honestly it looks and feels several times more expensive than it actually is.

The finish is top notch, bracelet is really comfortable. You have to remove all the small plastics from the clasp, or it will prevent a smooth operation. So far it sits at +1s/day which is …. WOW I mean come on! You get so much with this that it can easily become your one watch collection as they say.

Tissot has absolutely nailed this one. The experience with Firstclasswatches has been smooth and no issue. I got a 10% discount and a voucher for some great wines, which i will probably use to celebrate my new purchase :)) All in all, really happy with the choice and the experience.

This was my first “fancy” watch purchase and I have no regrets. It is very versatile and goes well with casual to dressy attire. The details in the dial are what makes this watch standout and look more expensive then it is.

I’m already looking to get another one in a different color! Bottom line, this watch will not disappoint.

Id heard the PRX was a good watch so thought Id add one to the collection. I went with Quartz just incase I didnt like it and didnt want to pay the 150>250 more for the automatic. I now will be looking at the automatic at some point as it is a fantastic watch.

Its comfy, stylish, well made, well sized. Truly a modern classic I feel !.

Perfect size for those don’t like the massive watches out there today, one small issue is that the bracelet doesn’t come with extra links so you’ll have to go to an authorized dealer and order them.

Purchased the Tissot PRX Powermatic 80 from First Class Watches and it is a fantastic time piece. This watch is unbelievable, I would say for the price, but I would be imressed at 3 or 4 times the money.

I have an Omega Aqua Terra and this will easily get more wrist time, so much so that I am now selling the Omega for 6 times what I paid for the Tissot. As always First Class Watches were great, brilliant customer service and quick delivery.

I have purchased many watches on the site and will continue to do so, and recommend them to everyone who is looking for a watch.

I’ve had several automatic watches, mostly from Invicta. This Seiko is comparable in cost, and so far much higher quality. Getting it set up with the day, date, and time was easy. It’s been in operation for several weeks now.

I’ve worn it almost constantly, and it’s keeping excellent time. If there’s been any drift so far, it’s less than a minute. It’s easy to read the face thanks to the simple number layout. The day and date font might be too small for some eyes, but the many available photos of this watch give you a good idea what to expect there.

One surprise is that the highly polished Seiko 5 logo below the 12:00 position is a bit distracting sometimes when you glance at the watch. Yes, that’s pretty nit-picky, and the fact that there’s not much else to complain about tells you how good this watch is.

In certain light, the outer ring where the luminous material is located is a slightly different shade of tan from the face. So far, after several weeks of use, the band looks almost brand new (see photo; those are wrinkles, not cracks) and the case absolutely looks brand new, even though I dropped it once from waist height onto a hard surface.

If you’re in a really quiet space, you can hear the weight that makes this watch self-winding move. I really like the display case that lets you see the mechanism when you take the watch off.

I purchased a SNZG15J and that is what I received. I bought this SNZG15J to replace a broken SNZG09K1. The transaction was pleasant and the watch arrived 72 hours later almost to the minute, here in Casper, WY.

My first impression was, WOW, this looks great on my wrist. Nice big easy to read numerals. An instant favorite. I was afraid the larger 44mm size would be too big for my wrist, but no, it is just right.

The watch strap fits correctly and I suspect over time I will try different straps. The lume was not charged before bedtime and I woke hours later, still able to read the time. So, it does go dimmer, but it was bright enough to read in pitch dark conditions.

The watch arrived in what looks like the original box with warranty card, tags, and instruction manuals. It was well packed and undamaged in delivery. The instruction manual says the watch will gain time in cold and lose time in heat.

Not sure the temperature range, but here in Wyoming it is winter time. In the first 24 hours of wearing the watch, it only gained about 5 seconds. For me, that is more than good enough. I am very pleased with this watch.

This watch has the 7S36C engine. Yes, I would purchase another watch from Creation Watches again.

I have a “standard” Seiko 5 with a cream face that I really enjoy, but I live be the beach and at 5 bar it’s not really suitable to wear in the water. I found this SNZG09 and it ticks all the boxes, looks really good and is a fraction of the price of anything comparable (I had been looking at the Hamilton field watch with the earth brown face, but that’s four times the price of this one).

Boxes: mechanical, 10 bar, day date. I really like the green face! As with my Seiko 5 I did buy some easy change watch bands (I really like Barton Watch Bands) in silicone, nylon and sailcloth that give me a nice set of options for different occasions.

All of these look preferable to the Seiko band. Face is clear, lumens bright, no problems going in and out of the water. Needs to be worn for a few hours each day at least to keep wound. Very high bang for buck value!.

Fantastic looking watch! I love the contrast of the metallic blue face and the stainless steel. The dark brown leather bracelet is high quality and seems like it will last a long time. It has a look to where you could wear it every day or wear it with a suit.

Ive had it for about a month now and it keeps perfect time. I love chronograph watches and this one is by far the favorite in my collection.

This is a very nice watch for the price. The casing is large which is great for those with larger hands/wrist. The blue on the face is very deep and really looks nice. The clasp works well and is overall very comfortable.

The chrono functions work as expected and give the watch a great look. If you are looking to step up from cheap watches but don’t want to spend a ton of money, this is worth a look.

Received my Tissot Chrono XL sport watch and have found that somemof the stitching within the leather strap have been frayed. The rest of the watch is fantastic just slightly disappointed with the quality of stitching within the strap.

Overall a great timepiece and great service by FirstClass watches, delivery was spot on.

I do not like gaudy excessive watches and wanted something nice and minimalist and practical. This looked perfect. Unfortunately, it’s garbage at telling time– runs significantly slow (the time will be wrong by the end of one day after you set it).

Same for the date, it gets all screwed up too. I don’t know about you, but accurately telling time is a somewhat important feature in a time telling device for me. The face is also very thick and heavy, to the point it is uncomfortable with the thin fabric watch band.

The band is also absurdly long, I trimmed it and melted the end, but it is still uncomfortable to wear because the face is so heavy. Wish I could return it. Complete waste of money. I never really thought I could hate a watch, but here we are.

I like the style of this watch, I like the looks of this watch. I dislike the function of this watch. No matter what time of day or night I set it, the day/date function either doesn’t advance, or it skips ahead, usually to wrong day.

Sometimes the day advances but the date doesn’t? Makes no sense at all. It also gains around ten seconds a day at least. Being former military and law enforcement I’m pretty OCD about being on time. Isn’t that why I bought what I thought was a quality watch? The luminous markers fade way too quick to be useful.

Guess I’ll just wear this watch as a daily chore watch and wear the dive watch I bought at the same time for my everyday watch, which is not why I bought it. Very, very, very disappointing. I bought Seiko because that’s what my granddad always wore.

Very poor value for the price.

After owning a Seiko quartz watch for over 30 years, I was excited to purchase an SRPG29 in February of this year. Within two months of normal use, the stem broke. At that time the department store where I purchased the watch acknowledged the defect and ordered a replacement.

I was very happy to receive the replacement but within one month of normal use, that watch began losing 20 minutes a day and eventually stopped. I returned the watch to the department store and they sent it out for warranty repair; I have now been told that they are waiting for a part from the factory.

At this point, I am not sure when I will be getting the repaired watch but I am very concerned that when I do, it will not be of the same quality as my old Seiko nor am I confident that it will provide the same years of service I would expected from a Seiko product.

Just a simple, good looking Timex watch. This watch several features that I require, a second hand, lights up in the dark, and easy to read. The calendar feature is nice, but its so small, that without a pair of reading glasses, I cant see the date clearly.

A magnifier over the number wold be especially helpful. Not withstanding that feature, this Times watch satisfies all my wants in a watch. Just as a change of pace, I chose a leather band, which appears to be very nice.

The price of the watch was under $40 and that is certainly very reasonable. I have been buying Timex watches since I was a kid, and at 66, have never been disappointed. Ordering from Walmart could not have been any easier, along with free shipping, will make me want to order from them again.

The watch was delivered very promptly and before I knew it, the watch was on my wrist. Thank You Walmart !.

an excellent watch at a very reasonable price. very reliable and easy to read with a beautiful clear ‘classic’ design. No bells and whistles , which is something I appreciate in a time piece. It has one weak point ( which is why no 5 stars) the small spring post that attaches the strap to the watch body can be too easily released by accident, which means the watch can fall from your wrist without you knowing.

However this hasn’t stopped me buying multiples of this watch – that’s how much I like it!.

This is a wonderful and surprising bargain when you consider your getting a full in-house movement watch not a cheap quartz. No it will not keep weekly time down to the second as a quartz will with ease but just look inside.

This is old world technology but in a brand new package. It will run for many years but yes, you will have to wear it to keep the automatic movement running and learn a few simple things about movement watches.

This movement is similar to the excellent Seiko 5 movement but upgraded and brand new. The watch itself larger than you might expect at 44mm, more like the fashion of today’s watches. I personally prefer a slightly smaller watch at say 38mm but it feels fine on and it’s not too heavy while still a substantial watch.

It looks more expensive than it is and thats the beauty of this watch. I ordered a second one as soon as this one arrived. My friends are already envious and I know I could easily sell it for more than I paid but I will be keeping it.

If your not familiar with movement watches and want to get a taste of old world watches this is certainly the one to buy. It will look great in any collection and work great to wear everyday, in fact that’s the idea, make it your everyday watch since it needs to move to stay wound.

One note, if it’s not keeping good time as mine did when I got it just get on YouTube, buy a simple case-back opener and learn how to adjust the “regulator” on top of the balance, the part that you can see moving.

There is an adjustment that can be moved to either increase or decrease the strike rate of the balance and escapement. That’s how you fine-tune a movement watch. You can also take it to a jeweler who has an electronic timer and have it done professionally.

Either way you will have a watch that is good to go for many years. Enjoy!!!.

I didn’t think I would be as enthusiastic about this watch as I am. I’m wearing it a lot, I have other choices but this is a keeper. It’s not an expensive watch, but it feels quality and is very comfortable even though it’s on the larger side.

One nit, I SO WISH it had illuminated hour makers and hands. I will consider adding some different hands, which frankly is the weakest part of the design of this watch for me. The value for the money is outstanding.

The color of the sunburst blue is my favorite blue exactly, awesome. The bracelet is also very nice with contrasting polished and brushed finishes. It is just strange that Seiko didn’t add Lum to this watch, and it appears to be the case with many of the Recast series of retro watches, but not enough of an issue for me to remove a star.

You can tell where they were saving money to keep the price down; illuminated hands, newer movement (4R series) that hacks and winds, a dial that is probably one piece molded, rather than applied hour markers, etc.

But frankly I am impressed they build a watch like this for the money. I am enjoying it!.

Everything about this watch is says precision, style, & class. It has attracted my attention for a pretty long while now & I finally decided to buy it. Great decision, it makes a wonderful Christmas present!! Plus, it’s a great value!!!.

I love watches and collecting, I see them as tools and at times ingenious little mechanical marvels. I have many and they are all across the spectrum of cost, from less than $20 to more than what I paid for this one ($295 at time of review).

I’m by no means a snob, a good watch is a good watch no matter the cost or the brand. I will admit Seiko is one of my favorites, I just seem to gravitate towards their styling and sizes. I think they do give a lot of watch for the money and this one is no different.

It’s an amazing watch that looks, feels, and works great. Mine arrived with really good alignment (chapter ring and bezel), the chapter is off just a hair but bezel is perfect. Honestly only those that are extremely detail oriented would notice and they’d have to just stare to see it, or get out a magnifying glass.

So normal use or someone admiring on your wrist it’s just nonexistent. The dial is amazing and catches the light very well. It’s not a flat finish but more of an anodized type that has a nice burst effect in the light.

The lume is strong and bright, lasts for several hours even with a quick charge from a flashlight. The major point that has sold me on it is the bracelet. It’s not the most refined or the best one can get but at the price of the watch, it’s done extremely well.

It’s all brushed instead of having polished center links, which has become really popular. I prefer brushed on a daily type watch as it shows less scratches and I’m just a fan of brushed finishes. The bracelet has lots of adjustment, all of the links are basically removable and the clasp has 4 position micro adjustment.

I have a small wrist so it can be difficult to get the perfect fit, no issue here, removed 3 links and dropped to the 3rd adjustment point (only can go one tighter). My wrist is 6 3/4″ so generally watches with just a 3 point adjuster are just a hair too big or small, wearable but not perfect.

While $300 isn’t cheap (in my opinion), in the watch world it is and so this is an entry level watch. However I think you get a lot for the money, there are other brands that may provide more in the price range but this is no slouch.

It’s a reliable movement, quality build, great fit, and good looks. The biggest thing I can see many want to fault is the water rating being 100 meters. I personally don’t swim much and I don’t dive, so it’s a nonissue.

While swimming is perfectly fine with this one diving isn’t. The rating though is more than enough for most people and daily wear. I actually like the push pull crown over screw down, faster to wind and make adjustments as needed (day or date).

If you like the style and looks, it’s definitely worth checking out.

I own or have owned various SKXs over the years. This version, the SRPD61, comes with a green dial and bezel and looks really good in various light conditions. The SRPD is the SKXs successor and while having the same case shape and similar specs its missing a few key elements that would have made this a better watch.

1. With only 100 m WR and no screw down crown, this is its biggest miss. While most people dont go diving with their watches its just good to know you can! 2. Bracelet clasp is bulky and I miss the jangly bracelets that were on the SKX.

Overall, for $300 its decent value and will please a lot of people. However, every time I wear it I cant help but think of my SKX but I suppose thats not a bad thing. Cheers!.

The orange dial version of the Seiko 5 dive style watch is great looking. Mine has been very accurate for a self-winding watch. When worn 24/7 for an entire week, it gains less than fifteen seconds total.

an average of two seconds per day. Most of my other automatic watches gain five to fifteen seconds per day. But, it is NOT a real diving watch. The crown does not lock down and the timing bezel stopped rotating after a few weeks.

And, I was unable to register the warranty because the serial number is stamped onto the rear glass cover in faint microscopic type.

My husbands Seiko watch I purchased almost 20yrs ago. It gave up the Ghost last weekend. Although he does have other watches including a Rolex. He alway preferred his Seiko. As he didn’t know I was buying him the one that’s finally died on him.

Like he doesn’t know I am replacing it. Gave it him today after it came. He was literally over the moon with it. He set it. I took 2 links out for him. He’s a very very happy man. It’s far far better than any pictures could show it.

At first I thought it looked black face. I was sure I had ordered blue. When my husband tipped the watch towards the light, what a beautiful shade of blue it is.

We used a swivel potato peeler for 30 years but sadly it broke. We was delighted to eventually find the same one on eBay. The design is the same but the quality of the metal poor ( a sign of the times maybe).

It peels too thick a layer off the item being peeled.

I got it for my nephew, who just started tumbling rocks. I think it will be perfect for him

Larger size than I was expecting, but still seems like a good every day watch. Works well so far.

This watch looks very nice, I can’t deny that. The face and date window all look very slick, and the indigo/gold color combo updates the classic navy/gold look you see in a lot of older luxury watches.

The problem I have is that this watch feels flimsy and cheap. I have an older Capital model from about 2009, the watch has a thinner case and a bezel that lays flatter, yet somehow that watch feels twice as heavy.

I feel like for a thicker case, it feels less sturdy and heavy which i like in a watch. The band is definitely made of a lower weight stainless steel which isnt the end of the world but the clasp looks and feels delicate at best and fake jewelery-esque at worst.

This is a good watch, looks fancy without the hich price, but it just doesnt feel as sturdy as my 4 other nixon watches purchased in years past. If this is the direction nixon is headed I wont buy any more.

This watch competes with dress watches costing ten times more and I’m lucky to have found one on eBay for such an affordable price. I’ve thrown it on different straps and worn it with suits and business casual.

Orient make some of the best entry level automatics and Orient Star are a cut above. Will definitely collect more.

You don’t have to go for the blue like I did, but man is this watch pure fun. That’s what Orient is all about to me. It’s like Seiko’s weird cousin that no one wants to really associate with. Every single Orient watch seems to be detailed, intricately designed, quality forward, and yet with this strange oddball twist on almost every piece.

So, this piece, the “Envoy” as it’s called. You’ve got super classic elements like the domed crystal, the sunburst dial, onion crown those Romans. Oh how I love Romans on a watch. But wait, what’s all this? Open caseback? Matching croc strap? The open heart? Apple hands?? What is this madness? This madness is a watch replicated NOWHERE.

I mean seriously, show me a quality timepiece that resembles this thing. This will get looks, comments, and conversation starters. At 44mm, it’s big, but just on the edge of not being too big. Total watch nerd heaven right here.

I’ve had the Orient Open Heart for just over a week now. Great quality piece, I’ve been mesmerized by the beautiful open balance wheel since day one. Great value watch, for a great watch. This is my first automatic watch, and I would highly recommend it as a first buy for newbies like myself with a tight budget.

A nicely finished, stylish watch with a decent automatic movement for a lot less than 200. Whats not to like. Yes the strap could be a little more robust, the links are folded rather than solid but its flexible and comfortable on the wrist.

Keeps great time, very well finished and very pretty sunburst dial. Looks way more expensive than it is and has great brand recognition.

Seiko produces some of the best value for money in watches, and this watch is no exception. It’s stylish and the quartz movement is precise and of good quality: And yes, there’s a difference between quartz movements.

Without going into geeky details, this is a solid choise for those who prefer quartz over mechanical, and the sapphire glass is far superior to any hardlex/mineral glass that you’ll normally get at this price.

SGEG96P1 is a dress watch; not exactly suited for an ordinary t-shirt and shorts, but it really shines when you’re wearing a shirt, whether it has long or short sleeves. The watch is flat so it can easily hide underneath a sleeve.

The gold color is not as pronounced as shown on the image here, nor is the pearl dial quite so sparkly in that reddish tone that the product image shows. The bracelet is of decent quality, although it has that rattle which is common to Seiko bracelets.

The crown is easy to pull out and adjusting the time and/or date is easy. 100m water resistance may not seem as much, but it’s enough to combat skin humidity/sweat and even the occasional splash of water one is bound to receive when walking in the rain, doing the dishes etc.

The only drawback is that people tends to think you’re older than your age when you wear it, but that’s rectified by the fact that they also tend to think you have more money than you have. It’s kind of akin to a well-kept 15-year old black Audi A4 in this regard; great for picking up chicks because it looks much more expensive than it is.

Get those datejust vibes at a fraction of the cost. Ditch the bracelet and get it on a leather strap. Classic size of 37mm, this is no bro watch. Looks great dressed up or casual, this watch is very versatile and goes with many looks.

It’s hard to get a mechanical watch this sharp for around $100. This is the older style of Seiko 5 and is not being made anymore. Get yours before they are all gone.

Not a bad watch. Keeps decent time and it’s fun to watch the works move inside. I have a couple nitpicks. The hands are hard to make out. They are the same chrome as the works. It would have been nice if there are lume on the hands at least.

The other nitpick is that the dial indices don’t quite line up perfectly with the bezel indices. It is, overall, not bad for the price, however you can find almost this exact watch on a certain Chinese selling site for less than half the price (but without the Speidel logo).

Look up Ochstin watches.

Very attractive timepiece, nice weight, fit my (big) wrist right out of the box. Exciting to see all the gears / movements, especially the self-winding mechanism clearly viewable through the back panel.

Disappointed that the watch gains 5-10 sec/day – not an issue with other Speidel watches I own. In fact I had to return the original one they sent me because it gained 30+ sec/day! But the fact that it’s a fancy, potentially more formal watch make it more of an occasional accessory (not really something you’d wear to the gym) so needing to reset it periodically is not too much of an issue – and I expect it could be better synchronized by a watch technician at some point in the future.

Also silver hands on silver gears make it a little hard to tell time on the fly, but I’m getting used to it. Maybe different colored hands would make it a bit easier. Still, all in all, a very attractive watch, and satisfying to wear.

I stumbled upon Speidel while researching automatic watches. I knew I wanted an automatic where I could see the movement but don’t have the budget for a high end watch. When I came across this watch it checked all my boxes.

It’s interesting without being garish and the movement is a joy to look at. The time is accurate enough for my needs and the hands are easy enough to read at a glance. This watch provides the exact value I was looking for and I would recommend it.

The Snowflake can only truly appreciated after looking at it under magnification. Flawless. It is accurate to the second even after 3 days. I watch my iPhone time change according to my Snowflake. That accurate.

The titanium is feather light and wears well on my 7 inch wrist. The bad is the bracelet requires tools and the extra tiny collar involved makes it more difficult for the average watch collector. There are no micro adjustments so hot and cold weather will make it feel loose or tight.

Even in the dark, the polished titanium catches the light just to remind you of how perfect it was made.

The Snowflake lives up to its name. Stunning. You can just get lost gazing at that face and beautifully-polished case. Keep in mind that the watch is a little chunky (I personally love this and think it’s quietly masculine, and it still fits comfortably under a dress shirt).

I’ve heard mixed feelings about how it looks on a strap, some saying it’s the only way to go and others saying it’s just a little too thick. So do your research and see if it’s to your taste, I’m yet to try it.

If you want a proper thin dress watch on a strap, or like a preppy look, then you may want to reconsider. If you want restrained, masculine lines for any occasion then buy it. This watch looks great with smart clothes and more modern, techy looks alike.

I have a 7-inch-wrist that is quite round and I like the fit and proportions. It also doesn’t have a quick date change function.

The watch is a lesson in design harmony: it is light and wears extremely comfortable on a small-medium men’s wrist. The case is retro yet looks perfect today, it is tastefully polished. The dial is a showstopper yet subtle (and kept clean without the power reserve, put to the back), the blued seconds hand complements it perfectly.

I can only think of JLC to strike such a difficult balance of class, timelessness and technicality. Near perfect as I hope GS, or any other brand, will top this at attainable luxury prices but for now.

Pretty perfect.

This is my first GS after a long string of Rolex and Omega watches. Quality of finish is up there with the best Switzerland has to offer. The closer you look the more impressed you will be. Spring drive is icing on the cake – 72 hour power reserve and the mesmerizing sweep of the second hand are two of my favorite features.

Sits perfectly on my 7” wrist.

Moderate (not too gaudy) size, stunning fit and finish, unparalelled accuracy. Nice enough to be noticed and appreciated by those in the know without the look at me or snob factor of rolex. The high zaratsu polish is something to behold in person.

The more you wear it the more you see how the watch reflects light from all angles. This one people notice in a good way. The multi faceted high polish areas are nearly like a prism. Very happy with this purchase.

Not great. The dials are a little offset, and the overall quality is quite shoddy. The dials blend into the background, making the time legible only under sunlight. I bought this while it was on sale, but I still felt like money was wasted.

Spend a little more and get a watch from a reputable company. I would recommend Seiko rather than this. The only thing I liked about this watch was perhaps the colour. First and last.

This beautiful time piece was a gift for my 81 year old Dad for Father’s Day. My Dad kept saying he had to get him a watch because his last one, “had it’s time”. So, I decided to get this really rich looking watch made by Movement, I think now bought out by Mavado😍 He loved it!!!! Usually my Dad would take his watch off and put it back in the box, he didn’t take this one off! Which let me know he truly appreciates his Father’s Day gift!😍🥰🥰🥰🥰.

I literally gasped when I opened the box for this. The watch is so beautiful and classy, you can clearly see the quality craftsmanship and investment involved in the packaging of the product. Movement created in Japan.
