It’s like you can almost feel the rain coming down during your favorite movie. Powerful audio Give your home cinema a 3D audio boost with the JBL Bar 9. 1 Wireless Sound Bar. With built in Dolby Atmos, DTS:X and 820 W of sound power, you’ll experience new dimension of rich, bass surround sound.
Move from a fantasy world of your TV show to a centre of a roaring football stadium with a click of a remote. Versatile connections Connecting the sound bar into your existing setup couldn’t be easier.
There’s HDMI ARC and optical connections, as well as a 4K pass-through. Then just position the wireless subwoofer wherever you want for deep, thrilling bass. If you aim for even more distinct 9. 1 sound you can detach side speakers from a main bar and position them behind you.
They are wireless with 10 hours worth of battery power. Wirelessly stream music With both Bluetooth and Apple AirPlay 2 connectivity, you can enjoy music from your smartphone or laptop. There’s also built-in Chromecast, so you truly can stream all your favourite online music with just a tap.
Dear potential buyers of JBL Bar 9. 1, Unless your refrigerator, stove, light switches, and toilets are all Internet connected through your Google Home account, you should probably not purchase this sound bar.
The product description, packaging, and manual neglect to reveal that it absolutely REQUIRES addition to your home network using Google Home (or Apple equivalent) in order to operate securely. There is no other option.
If you set it up like a normal sound bar (without Google Home), it does work but continuously broadcasts itself over its own unsecured WiFi network as an available speaker system for anyone or their miscreant teenager to commandeer.
They can freely add it to their own Google Home account without your authorization and then use Chromecast to blast heavy metal throughout your home in the middle of the night. Your only recourse is to disconnect power or do a factory reset.
oh wait, then it defaults back to free-speakers-for-anyone mode. Not helpful. I’ve informed JBL of the problem, but their support has told me there is in fact no way to disable the feature and that this is intentional BY DESIGN: “I hope you understand, that this is not done as an oversight, but as a design.
” – HCG Customer Support, May 2022 Fixing the problem would only require a simple firmware update, but, in numerous e-mails, they’ve provided no indication such an update will be created. Given the problem is intentional by design, it’s evident they will not be fixing the problem unless enough people refuse to buy the product.
Please refuse to buy the product and inform JBL that this lack of consideration for the customer’s privacy is the reason. Such a feature representing a possible invasion of your home’s privacy should be disabled by factory default and only enabled if you choose to use it.
The fact that it cannot be disabled if one chooses is despicable for a supposedly reputable company and, henceforth, I will not be purchasing any JBL products. Happy shopping all. P. s. For the DIY-ers out there, disconnecting the bar’s WiFi module internally to disable the Internet connection feature does not work because it uses the same module to communicate with the wireless sub and surrounds.
So my biggest grip with soundbar systems is the way most run wires between the surround sound speakers and subwoofers. It usually means having to put the subwoofer next to your couch or run wires all over the place.
For me, this has always bothered me because it can lead to an unappealing living room, aesthetically. This is where the JBL 9. 1 shines. There is something so awesomely futuristic about how the rear speakers connect wirelessly and also how great the whole setup manages to sound.
The included subwoofer is a BEAST of a unit (both in performance and size) that easily outdoes budget systems like the Vizio M-Series (this one replaced an M51A and M512) and the audio sounds clear without any crackling or distortion.
Ditto on the surround. I can be sitting off-center and with system to the side of me, and I can still make out surround sound portions of audio clearly. All this being said, there are some small nuisances here and there.
For example, sometimes audio cuts out ever so briefly and I’m not sure if this is an issue with the bar itself or just interference from the (many) wireless items in my house. Regardless, this doesn’t happen often and I can easily go 3-4 hours watching things without it happening.
Another thing is that the surrounds don’t charge (when connected to the bar) unless if the system is in stand-by. So while you can use them if they’re discharged or low on battery while connected to the bar, they won’t actually charge unless if the system is off and in stand-by.
A way to remedy this is by just having a USB charger (either portable or wall charger) and a couple of 6-10ft microUSB cables to easily plug the surround sound speakers in. Since discharged speakers can be used if plugged in, this will avoid having to remove them from speaker stands (if you plan on doing this) or if you forget to charge them.
These small issues aside, this soundbar is easily worth the money if you can find it on sale. At full price. well, if you can afford this system at full price without batting an eye then yes, it still would be too!.
Plugs directly to Mac or PC. 33 1/3 & 45rpm speed selector. Belt-drive USB turntable with digital recording software. +/-10% variable pitch slider. USB connection for conversion of vinyl to digital media.
I was very hopeful and excited about this, for providing me greater ease of hearing my TV programs. I do think it is probably perfect for my needs. However, I haven’t been able to get it working yet.
Honestly I really need to get with it and see how it does. I tried connecting it and I didn’t get it right the first time, and to be frank I haven’t doubled down on it to try again. When I get farther along, I’ll come back and report again.
I’m a bit disappointed that it wasn’t PnP – at least not for me yet – but it’s a bit more tech than I’m good at. We’ll see. More to come!.
This thing is great. Like the other review says it amplifies the voice,,,not the background noise. Crystal clear and not delayed. I’m partially hard of hearing so it helps me a lot. Also when someone is in the other room trying to sleep (me) turn this on and the tv volume down.
Recharge overnight and good to go the next day. Wish I knew of these a few years ago. Highly recommend.
I got this for my wife because she has trouble with the tv sound and I turned on captioning which is annoying especially when watching sports. She likes the Pyle wireless speaker and says the tv sound is very good.

Newer tv’s don’t have the quality sound they used to and many tv shows and movies now have constant music that makes hearing dialogue difficult. This product solves that problem very well. And, if you’re like my mom, who hears ok but sometimes has difficulty understanding so keeps turning up the volume, this will do the trick.
You can set this next to you, turn down the tv volume and turn up the speaker volume and not blast out the rest of the house. It’s not a replacement for the sound bar quality, so if you’re thinking of that to get that stereo sound, this is not a great substitute.
But, it does what it advertises. When mom’s not here, we steal it and put it on our main tv for those maddening shows where you can’t hear what the heck they’re saying! Love it.
Rec’d TVsound box. Followed instructions and discovered the speaker batttery would not take a charge. Returned entire unit w the enclosed return sticker they emailed me I immediately mailed it back in original packing at no cost to me.
Asked that they check the battery in speaker before sending a new replacement. Got the new one in a few days. – worked great gave it to my friend 91 yrs old who loved it! I had a TV sound for 4 years and have gifted them to friends in my mature age group.
Great product and Diglo backed it upwith excellent response to a faulty batter,.
The AV257 uses 12 levels of dialogue boost – 6 stages of AccuVoice boost plus 6 stages of our new SuperVoice technology. SuperVoice takes dialogue clarity to a new level by dramatically reducing non-vocal background sounds.
This new technology sets a new standard for the audio industry. The results are simply amazing. No other product offers so much flexibility and voice clarity enhancement.
Great sound. The Accuvoice and Surroundsound really help make voices much more intelligible, etc. Especially when there is other background sounds like music with the voices. I was able to program my Xfinity remote to control the ZVOX sound bar, on/off, volume, mute, etc.
However, the unit spontaneously turns itself off occasionally, unpredictably and with no warning. The unit actually turns off, not just mutes the sound. Then the mute/unmute button, NOT the power button, on my Xfinity remote, NOT the ZVOX remote, turns the unit back on.
So I have to keep the remote handy to turn it back on. If I leave it off, after it turns itself off, it will sometimes eventually spontaneously turn itself back on. Sometimes this issue of turning itself off doesn’t happen for a long time, hours, sometimes it happens frequently, multiple times per hour, while watching TV.
Still trying to identify any patterns in this behavior.
This time I only had it two days before it started turning itself off numerous times during a program, as if on a timer, causing all sound to cease. Had to keep pressing and repressing the volume on the remote to get the sound to work again.
I bought a ZVOX about ten years ago that simply quit working after a month. I thought I’d try it again now, but same old problems plagued the ZVOX without any improvements in 10 years. It caused the television to get out of sync with the ZVOX box so the television will not even turn on unless pressing and repressing the on/off button on the television remote numerous times.
Spent time on the phone with the tech people, and it seemed to work, but only temporarily; it didn’t continue to work–same issues. When ZVOX works it’s AMAZING, but to have it start acting up after only TWO DAYS, given my history with the previous ZVOX lasting only a month, is beyond unacceptable.
Bottom line, not worth the frustration. Returning before I have to trash yet another ZVOX and lose even more money on a wholly deficient product.

Sound bar system – for home theater – 9.1.4-channel
2 speakers, subwoofer, sound bar
Reviews From Real Customers
The Samsung HW-Q950T Soundbar has totally blown me away! I have been a fan of having a 5. 1 surround sound system at home for as long as I can remember. Lately, having the latest receiver, speakers and wires everywhere have caused more issues than it is worth to keep the system going.
This is where the Samsung Q950T shines. To set up this 9. 1. 4ch system, all you need to do is provide power to the rear speakers & subwoofer, then plug in the soundbar, attach the included High-Speed HDMI cable and the speakers automatically pair and you are ready to be transported to another world.
During my initial test, I did run into a slight issue where the audio was pausing while doing some normal streaming or when changing the volume. After linking the Soundbar to the SmartThings app and doing a firmware update, this issue disappeared.
After the update, I also noticed an increase in the performance of the rear speakers. The soundbar remote is pretty simple but functional. You can change between the two HDMI inputs, Wi-Fi sound, Bluetooth, or Digital Audio Output (eARC/ARC).
The remote can control volume, subwoofer volume, mute, and can also adjust the intensity of the speaker groups: bass, treble, center, side, wide, front top, rear, rear top to tune the sound system to your liking.
You can also change the sound mode from Standard, Surround, Game, & Adaptive sound. The only issue I have with the remote is that it can’t control the devices plugged directly into the HDMI on the bar.
This, however, can be done with the TV remote. I used the Samsung Q950T with the 65″ Samsung Q90T and they work amazing together! There is a feature called Q-Symphony that turns the audio on the TV on in combination with the sound system for a more full sound.
If you have trouble hearing people talking during movies, this is a great option as it really boosts up the front speakers. The main issue I have had with the Q950T is getting it to always recognize that it is connected to the TV over eARC.
The Q90T would automatically default back to TV ARC and I was able to fix it by adjusting the settings on the TV to use eARC. As for sound qualify and the performance of the 9. 1. 4 channel system, this is the best sound system I have ever had in my home.
The bass is strong, the rear speakers are crisp and when watching Atmos supported content, I feel totally immersed in the experience.
The latest iteration of Samsungs full Dolby Atmos sound-bar, the Q950T continues to impress. With now a 9. 1. 4 sound field up from the previous years 7. 1. 2, it adds an additional 2 channels that help to create a more enveloping sound around the user.
The thinner sound-bar is presented with a new design that gives a more directed speaker placement of its side channel speakers. Very little has changed from the previous 2019 model to its wireless rear speakers or subwoofer.
Gone is the all-metal grills of the previous year to which this year Samsung has switched to an all fabric speaker covering. Also gone is the Harmon Kardon branding located on all speakers of the 2019 model.
At first glance, one might think of this choice as a downgrade but most high-end speakers use fabric for speaker coverings rather than metal for best sound and minimal distortion. Most audiophiles will not find this concerning but welcome the change.
One major change is the small display that is no longer located in the front of the soundbar but on top. This is my main reason for only 4 stars. Had they left the display in front like the 2019 model I would have given it 5 stars but this change really is a negative for the user and hopefully will change in upcoming iterations.
The sound quality is impressive and very well balanced. The new Subwoofer appears to have a better wireless connection compared to the previous model and delivers cleaner sound. One of my biggest gripes of the 2019 model was that at times you would get distorted sounds from the sub due to bad wireless connections.
All in all the new Q950T provides an exceptional Dolby Atmos Sound while making setup and speaker positioning a breeze for almost any room in the house. The added channels give the listener so much more to hear and allow them to hear more of the little nuances within the larger listening area.
New this year is Alexa built right in. Also new is the Q symphony that works with newer Qled TVs and uses not only the soundbar system but also the TV speakers to produce the sound stage. Unfortunately my 2019 QLED 8K tv is not one supported to test this feature.
The ability to have a wide immersive sound stage using only 3 speakers in comparison to what most systems need 5-7, Samsung does not disappoint with the Q950T sound, ease of use, and ability to have the best of Dolby Atmos in a compact package.
By way of comparison for this soundbar, previously I have owned three versions of Yamaha YSP sound bars (when they where the soundbar kings). I have also had three separate AV amplifiers with full sized 5.
1, 6. 1 and 7. 1 systems, the last being a high end Yamaha RX1800. The Samsung sounds better than all of them. The sound quality is excellent, and it creates a convincing cinema like sound bubble. Prior to purchase I was a little sceptical of how the up- firing speakers would work, but there really is a sense of overhead sound.
The system is at its best when fed a Dolby Atmos sound source. The ‘adaptive’ sound mode does a very good job of up-mixing older 5. 1 Dolby Digital and DTS soundtracks to use all the speakers (even works with stereo).
I did find the dialogue was a little muddy at times with this type of up-mix, but this was cured by increasing the gain on the centre channel. For purists the standard sound mode with leave the source untouched, outputting the same number of channels as the source.
Music playback is surprisingly good too (but I wont be retiring my hi-fi just yet thanks). The soundbar is being used with a Samsung TV and (unsurprisingly) integrates well, correctly identifying the soundbar and giving some on screen feedback of volume level and sound mode.
How well this would would work with other manufactures is debatable, though checking the threads on AV forums does imply the Samsung does not play nicely with LG OLEDs. For those with another type of TV you will encounter the first problem in that the display is on the top of the soundbar and thus unreadable in normal viewing position.
The sound field created will depend greatly on the positioning and type of room. Ideally there should be a flat ceiling, and walls to either side to allow for the sound reflections. The surround speakers should be placed behind the listener.
There is no Auto calibration function available, Nor does it have a facility to play a test tone. Individual channels would need to be modified manually. Since the display cannot be read from the viewing position, this is almost impossible to do alone, and still very tedious with the help of someone else to read the display.
The Samsung smart things app is of no help here. Also whilst the rear speakers are ‘wireless’ to the rest of the system, they do need to plugged in to a power outlet. The power lead for the speakers is approximately 2 meters, considering one of those meters will be for the height of the speaker, it does cut down the placement options.
The power connections are the standard 2 pin figure of eight at a right angle, however Samsung has seen fit to use slightly non-standard mouldings, which means buying a standard replacement will result in a speaker will a ‘wobbly’ base, unless you a re using speaker stands which bolt to the back of the units don’t waste your money on replacement chords (like I did!).
In summary it is brilliant system, provided you are prepared to give some thought and time to setting it up. I bought this when the new Q950A had just come out so the price had dropped a lot from the original MSRP (about 60% of original price).
I think it’s probably worth the price I paid for it, but I’m not sure that I would have been as happy if I’d paid the full price. Hence the 4 stars rating for Value. However having said all I have, there is only one bar I would consider swapping this for and that would be the Q950A, so Samsung have won me over from Yamaha.
With the sleek slim design of your flat-screen TV, there’s little room left for speakers. That’s why dialogue can be hard to hear clearly from one scene to the next. The Bose Solo 5 Soundbar is an easy solution to the problem.
This one-piece speaker brings noticeably better sound to all your favorite TV programs. Advanced Bose technologies make every word and more details easier to hear. And when you want even more clarity, select its dialogue mode to make every word easier to understand without having to adjust the volume from scene to scene.
There are also times you just know youll want a little more bass when watching TV. Go aheadyou can adjust the bass control to your liking with the remote controls bass control button. Setup is easy. Connect the Bose Solo 5 Soundbar to your TV with just one cable.
The speaker is so versatile you can place it almost anywhere, whether its in front of the TV, on a shelf, or even mounted to the wall. The Bose Solo 5 TV speaker features Bluetooth connectivity, so you can stream music wirelessly.
Take command of your Blu-ray Disc player, Bluetooth connectivity and gaming system with the included universal remote control. Easily control both the system and most video sources connected to your TV.
Pros: I love the Bose Solo 5 sound bar. It was a great price in the sale and although I am no expert, I feel that for the money the sound quality is very good. It looks stylish and is wall mounted below my new LG 48” OLED TV, which has made a huge improvement to the depth of the sound on the TV.
I didn’t appreciate when buying my new TV that although I would have fantastic picture quality, the sound quality would be a backward step compared to my old TV (due to the OLED TV being ultra thin, resulting in the speakers lacking in bass).
By adding the sound bar, I now have a TV with both amazing picture quality and sound. The Bose remote control measures approx 22 x 5cm and for older people, is a much easier size to use than the small remote control that came with the LG TV.
My partner was able to set up the sound bar, so that the majority of the functions of the TV could be controlled solely by the Bose remote control. Cons: For watching TV, I can just use the Bose Remote Control, but when using the TV with the Internet, e.
g. on iplay, I have to use the LG remote to get onto the Internet functions. I’m not sure whether there is a way around this, but suspect not, from other reviews I have read from people who appear tech savvy.
I don’t know whether this is also an issue with others makes of TV. Also, when using the Bose remote to control the volume for the TV through the sound bar, there are no numbers on the sound bar, or on the TV screen, to show the increase/decrease of level in volume.
For people that rely on watching their TV on a specific volume number, it means a bit of guesswork to get to the volume that suits you.
I picked up one of these Solo 5 for my living room TV, since we were only using the TV speakers at the time for sound. Found mine for a little under $100 shipped, which I’m absolutely ok with paying.
Bose quality. I found this soundbar had too much bass once you cranked the bass up. It didn’t distort any sounds, but it completely overpowered the rest of the sound. The quietest it will go is actually a touch too loud for me to leave on when my baby is sleeping, and it goes way louder than I would ever need.
For most people, it would be perfect volume. I haven’t played around with settings much, but I’ve only found a bass adjustment, no other equalizer options. The sound is really good regardless, but I like to tweak.
Having the bass adjustable does a fine job though, the factory equalizer settings are pretty good. The physical construction of the bar feels solid, heavy, and rugged. I wouldn’t be worried if this fell off the entertainment center at all.
If they add more equalizer adjustability (or if I find out they did and I just can’t find it), I would give this 5 stars as long as it was purchased for around 100-150 bucks, maximum. Over that amount, and you could get a bar and woofer combo instead, but this bar needs no subwoofer I promise you.
Maybe you have to put this in a small room. Maybe you have to have never heard a great audio setup. Maybe you have to like flat music. Those were the thoughts going through my head for the week I tried this soundbar.
Tried it with its little friends the surround speaker and the subwoofer…. still fell flat. You lose all the ranges. In the end I just couldn’t so back it all went. I’m sticking with my old Polk speakers and a new magical subwoofer that allows me to have all the ranges whether watching movies or listening to music.
Maybe this soundbar is for you, but it was definitely not for me.

This soundbar will not shake your windows, but honestly, the sound is pretty good. Certainly better than I was expecting at this price. The bass is rich and smooth, without becoming boomy. The sound can fill the room if you crank it high enough, however, the rear speakers are quieter than I wish they were.
They still get the job done, but I wish they were louder. This soundbar has multiple options for Dolby signals as well, including DTS, Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus, and Neo 2:5, if you’re connecting via the optical cable.
There is a noticeable difference between formats, which is good. There is also a dot-matrix display window on the front, hidden behind the fabric, that tells you what source you are connected to at startup.
It also tells you what source you’re switching to, and it briefly displays the volume level when you turn it up or down with the remote. There are also physical buttons on top for power, volume, and source select.
The source select button doubles as the bluetooth pairing button if you hold it down long enough. Setup was remarkably simple: Connect both rear speaker cables to the jacks in the rear receiver, plug in the subwoofer, plug in the rear receiver, plug in the soundbar, and turn it on.
Everything connected in about 15 seconds, and I was done. Bluetooth pairing was also incredibly easy. Just hold the BLUETOOTH button down until pairing activates, then look for the soundbar on your phone or tablet.
Another cool feature with Bluetooth: The display window on the front of the soundbar (which is hidden most of the time) will briefly scroll the name of the device you’ve just connected via Bluetooth.
For example, “Galaxy Tab” or “Motorola Phone” The remote is pretty sleek and ergonomic, and works well.

First off, I need to explain that the primary reason I bought these is for music production and editing. Not gaming or movie watching. I also do almost all of my “fine tuning” with Sennheiser HD 25’s.
That said, It’s more than adequate for my purposes in that after I do my production and editing, I can get a good feel for what the public will hear when I do my DJ gigs by playing the tracks on these speakers.
The biggest reason I like these is because of the way the control module is set up. All my IO jacks are in the back of an IP rack mount computer. It’s a long way back there and a real pain to access This control module allows me hands on adjustment at the front of the computer with a headphone jack.
In other words, I no longer have to stretch my headphone cable to the back of the computer, and I can control everything by hand adjustment or remote control. To me, sound quality is like spaghetti sauce or pizza.
What tastes great to one person may only be average to another. The sub woofer is more than capable of reproducing deep bass with a good quality sound. Likewise, the 5 other speakers (left and right rear, left and right front, and center) put out a surprisingly good mid and high end sound.
Are they (fill in your personal all time favorite best sounding speakers)? Probably not. I will, however tell you unequivocally that I got a better than average set of speakers at a fair price. Although social media seemed to be all abuzz about these being “all that”, I’d say they’re “almost all that”.
To REALLY get “all that” would cost me thousands! Happy listening!.
My old Z506 speakers finally died after about a decade of constant use. These are SO costly and don’t seem to benefit from a separate tweeter. I tried Klipsch ProMedia 2. 1 and while they sound great for gaming and video they really need a center channel.
These sound fantastic. In fact, almost transparent. I hoped more applications would support Dolby Digital or Dolby Live but Win 10 and 11 abandoned this. I use both the optical connection and the regular (color coded pc jacks).
They sound identical but the Optical will send uncompressed audio from DVD’s and. mkv video files and the light will show it is decoding the stream. Otherwise unless you use a very old Realtek driver or have a Soundblaster Z soundcard you will have to live with “3D audio” which is still pretty great.
As far as far as gaming goes the positional audio is great even without paying for a Dolby codec. Are they worth almost $400?? Well they don’t sound much better than the $100-$150 Z506. You do get a decoder and a digital input as well as multiple inputs, so if money is no object this is the way to go.
I purchased the Logitech Z906 5. 1 500 Watt speaker system for surround sound for both my TV and game computer. I’m giving it 5 stars for what it is, a really good computer audio system that also plays well with TVs and other audio devices, given you have the right hookups.
Pros: Overall, the sound quality is very good. Much better than any sound bar I’ve had, and way better than the sad speakers that come in most TVs these days. The subwoofer can pump out a nice healthy level of bass.
I always test bass and surround with the first Sauron scene from Lord of the Rings, and was NOT disappointed. The provided remote is functional, allowing you to change volume, input, and sound mode/levels.
The provided speaker wires should be plenty long enough for any small to medium room. My living room is 11×14, and they are just right for where I needed to place the speakers. This system has 6 audio inputs (NO iPod input or bluetooth, the Best Buy description is misleading.
I did not purchase it for either of those options). 1 – 3-wire 1/8″ Computer Audio Surround input (green/orange/black, comes with the wires for that) 1 – RCA left/right input (red/white) 2 – Optical Digital Audio input 1 – Coaxial Digital Audio input (orange) 1 – 1/8″ stereo input (located on the control module) The control module has a large knob for adjusting volume levels, and buttons for selecting the audio modes and inputs.
It offers various surround modes depending on which input and type of signal you are using. If the input is digital and you are sending a surround signal, it will automatically use “Decode”. If you are using an analog or stereo input, you have 3 “Stereo” options to choose from: 3D (expands stereo in to fake surround, does a pretty good job), 4.
1 (plays stereo left on the two left speakers, stereo right on the two right speakers, plus the subwoofer), and 2. 1 (just the two front speakers and subwoofer). I easily mounted my two rear speakers using the Sanus HTBS floor stands.
Cons: There are no EQ settings, so you get what it gives. I found the front speakers to be a little too “crisp” and ended up reusing my old bookshelf speakers for the front left and right. I would have liked some EQ options.
If you are sending a true surround signal to one of the digital inputs, you can not use any of the stereo enhancement modes. therefore, if, say, you have your TV outputting Dolby Surround, and your Netflix show is only in stereo, you can’t fill the surround speakers unless you set your TV to output regular stereo as well.
Lack of HDMI input might be a deal breaker for some. I didn’t need it. Final thoughts: Overall, a great speaker system for PC gamers, and a quite capable system for TVs as well, as long as you know what to expect.
I’ve seen some questions about receivers, and this does not contain a receiver. All connections are on the subwoofer (except for the 1/8″ input on the control module). I would recommend the Z906 to anyone who does not want to break the bank on a surround system while still getting a quality product.
