20 Best Thermos Flask For Keeping Drinks Hot (2023 Updated)

I just got this Stanley thermos about a week ago. It arrived exactly as described and shown in the photos. I’ve been using it daily thru the week since it arrived without any leaking and I’ve been happy with it.

It’s 4 oz less than my last one but it’s taller and more slender which makes it travel in my backpack better than my old one. A little smaller but it travels better for my needs. It’s been reliable at holding my coffee hot all week but the real magic happened over this past weekend when I was helping a buddy move.

I made a thermos full of coffee for the fellas but no one wanted any coffee. So it stayed in my backpack until I completely forgot about it. ELEVEN HOURS LATER, we were done and decided to get some coffee to refresh for the drive back home.

I suddenly remembered my thermos of coffee, and YES it was still HOT!!! It had the whiffs of steam drifting out of the thermos as I poured. We each enjoyed a bit of nice hot coffee on a chilly evening without any problem.

Yes, I can absolutely recommend the Stanley Thermos to a friend! Pro Tip- Prime your thermos to maintain the most hot or cold you want for your beverages. When you put in a beverage, the temperature will settle at about half way between the temps of your beverage and the sitting temperature of the thermos.

To keep it cold longer for cold beverages, put ice water inside for about 5 minutes to put a chill in it before adding your cold beverages. For hot beverages, put hot water inside to heat up the thermos and keep your hot beverages hot longer.

How I do is easiest for me, I run my coffee maker once *without coffee* just to get the hot water and pour that hot water into my thermos to heat it up. Then it sits on the side for a few minutes while I brew my actual coffee.

Then I pour out the hot water and pour in my fresh hot coffee into the heated thermos. I find that doing this keeps my coffee hot for much longer. Priming the thermos really maximizes the potential of your thermos.

I didn’t purchase my cup direct from SimpleModern, but from a retail location. I absolutely loved the cup – kept coffee hot for a few hours, and water cold for even longer. I’ve been through several cups prior (different brands) and they were all uncomfortable in my hand (too large/too wide), but this is the perfect size.

I was thrilled with my purchase, but the cover leaked terribly! I sent an email to SimpleModern customer service asking if I was missing something – why it was leaking so much. It turns out there was a rubber seal in the cover that was missing.

They sent me a new cover to replace it completely free, even though I didn’t purchase it directly from them! I tell everyone how great this cup is and how great their customer service is! Excellent experience all around, and now it doesn’t leak at all with the new lid! :).

I so wish I had discovered this travel mug years ago, it would have saved me MANY spills in my bag and just in general! It’s a great small size that holds 16oz which is more than enough for me for hot beverages.

The locking lid is fantastic and easy to use, easy to get the hang of. I can truly attest from having this mug tossed about in my cart at work it has HELD UP! Coffee stayed right in, no spills, no fuss! Of course my coffee stayed nice and hot nearly all day during my 8 hour shifts! I just love this travel mug and can’t see myself without it.

I bought this mug after buying a big name expensive Y 24 oz mug that did not keep my water cold for even half of the workday. This SM mug not only keeps my water cold throughout the day but I can add water to it throughout the day and the ice from the morning remains throughout the day.

This mug is amazing and a way better value. I highly recommend it. This is my second SM mug. My first one lasted for many years. I was ready to try something new. This is just right. ,.

Temperature keeping (9/10) I’ll fill it the night before and it’ll still be cold and filled with ice the next day and stay cold for the whole day! As for hot water, it doesn’t last quite as long. It is hot for most of the day by, but is warm at the end.

Still pretty darn good if you ask me, cause I mean you will have probably drunken all the water by then lolol Quality (10/10) This is actually the second time I am getting a Thermoflask as I was gifted one by my cousin in 2019 which has lasted me until now! And the only reason I needed to replace it was cause I am a clutz, lost the silicon bumper and dropped it so much the bottom is beyond recognition.

Design (10/10) The original design was already great but the refined version is even better. The wider handle allows me to fit all my fingers when holding the bottle and the silicon seals come with tabs so you can pull them out to clean (preventing mould) LOVE THIS.

The silicon bumper at the bottom is THE BEST, Yetti’s and hydro flasks (also unnecessarily $$$) don’t have them and are so loud when you set them down. It also protects the paint from being scratched or dented.

AND THE LIDDDDD I just love that the drinking spout lid is attached and clicks into place when drinking so you never lose it or have to set it down on a dirtysurface. Value 11/10 You get two bottles for roughly $48, that’s $24 EACH!!! considering other brands usually go for $50 each for smaller capacities and IT IS A STEALLL.

Not to mention, I prefer the design features of the Thermoflask so so so much more. Yetti and Hydro flask is just brand hype lololol cause they all do the same thing! Note I have no idea why it is listed as 1.

I’ll be honest: I have my share of water bottles, and this may make me throw them all in the recycle bin/trash. This is a 40 oz bottle with chug lid. It’s aluminum. It’s insulated. And it’s pretty badass! For starters, mine is a neat charcoal color.

The painted (powder coated?) aluminum has a slight texture to it that strikes the perfect balance of texture and smooth — it’s grippy, but not what I would classify as “rough. ” Next, check out the size — this thing is massive! However, that is a slight negative for me, as it doesn’t exactly fit in the cup holder of my car.

Please take that fact under advisement. I like the “chug lid” on this thing. It’s a cap that is built in the the fill lid and unscrews. It’s nifty. It’s also the perfect size for my mouth, but maybe it won’t be the perfect size for yours.

The chug lid is built in to a hook. It hinges. That’s pretty cool. As for the hook, I’m not quite sure what purpose this serves, except maybe to clip your keys to it. I don’t know, and I have another bottle that also has this feature.

Overall, the design is well-executed and relatively simple. It’s kinda pricey, but I’m not where it sits compared to its competition. It’s a slick bottle, and I really like it, though the size is a bit if a drawback for me.

I purchased the 40oz and 24oz ThermoFlasks from Costco about a year ago, and they’re the best! Friends have purchased HydroFlasks for more than twice the unit price, they didn’t get chug lids AND straw lids.

and other than the logo and color options available, I can’t tell the difference. They hold up well to daily use, are fairly easy to clean (I got silicone brush and straw cleaner sets at Bed, Bath & Beyond for under $10 per set).

For those complaining that the seals are compromised after running through the dishwasher, the bottle itself says wash by hand, so I just wash it all and am good to go. The only bummer is, the 40oz is my favorite and it doesn’t fit in any of our vehicle cup holders.

We have the small ones for that, but I still carry the larger bottles around with me, too. I wish there was a sturdy adapter that could be used for this purpose.

I carry my thermos bottle to work every morning, filled with deliscious coffee or organic green tea. The good thing about it is that you can drink directly from this metal bottle and it wont burn your lips or mouth as the stainless steel remains cold, but the drink stays hot for a very long time.

I love it, in fact I loved it so much that I went back to buy more of it.

Love this thermos! Hot coffee poured in the morning is still hot in the afternoon, even without priming the bottle. I like the pour feature on the stopper and I think it helps keep heat in during use.

The bottle’s slim design fits in a car cup holder and the cup is comfortable to use. I plan to buy this bottle for gifts this holiday season.

I’ve had it about a year and it has been excellent. Does not suffer from the build quality issues reviewers reported from other Thermos bottles. This is the one you want for hot liquid. If you’ll be using it for cold only you might consider one you can drink straight out of the bottle.

For hot, this bottle will keep it too hot to drink all day, so it’s better to keep what’s inside piping hot and drink it out of the cup. The first one I was sent the vacuum seal had been broken. There was a small crack near the bottom seam.

It was obvious it wasn’t working though, the outside of the bottle should not get hot when you put hot liquid in it. Home Essentials Direct replaced it quickly. The replacement was excellent. I mostly use it for coffee and it holds heat in great.

If I start out with the bottle full of coffee and drink small cups throughout the day, by the evening the last cup will still be warm. If you don’t pour any liquid out of it I’m sure it would last longer.

Just remember not to tighten the plug too tight when you first fill it up, because the bottle will expand as it heats up and the plug will get impossibly wedged in there. If that happens run the top of the bottle under cold water and it will shrink enough to open.

I’d suggest tightening it all the way, and then back it off just until you can see a gap between the plug and the top of the bottle.

Fantastic product, works exactly as advertised. It’ll keep my tea hot all day long. These days I’ve taken to brewing up a batch of tea before I go to sleep, and it’s still nice and hot the next day when I get to work.

Once I start drinking from it it loses the heat a lot faster (Every time I open it up it’s going to lose heat, etc), but if it keeps it hot for 12 hours or so, and then keeps it reasonably hot while I drink it over the next 6-8 hours while I’m work, that’s plenty for me.

I also alternate using iced tea, and it keeps it nice and chilled just as easily. I tend to get thirsty a lot during the day, and I’ve found I often have a tiny bit left: about 1/2 – 1 “cup” (the small cup that comes built in) left when I leave work, so the 32oz size is perfect for me.

It’s a little pricey at the $30+ range, but I don’t mind paying for quality on something I plan to use for a very long time. As a side note though I drink black tea, which is brewed around 200-210F, so if you’re doing a green tea (160F or so) it probably won’t stay as hot for as long, in which case you’d want to brew the batch up before you leave the house, rather than the night before, like I’ve been doing.

We are very happy with this Thermos. It is replacing a 25+ year old thermos only because the lid is deteriorating and they don’t make replacements lids anymore. We didn’t have high hopes as this new thermos is so much lighter but we were thrilled with it, keeps the coffee warm until 24 hours later.

I pour out the old coffee from the morning before and it is still warm. It is actually so hot coming out of the thermos 4 hours later after I put it in, that you have to be alittle careful drinking it.

I definitely recommend, we bought a Yeti just before this and it was a major disappointment, the thermos was half the money and 4 times better.

I was a bit disappointed as I expected the thermos to be robust and so it’s job. So far, it broke when it fell from the kitchen counter. The top part of the thermos is a bit wonky now so it doesn’t screw well together anymore.

Then the crack that runs from top to bottom is a bit annoying and it doesn’t hold hot for as long as it states. Every hot liquid is lukewarm after an hour. I think I’m going to throw it away and buy a Stanley or go for a YETI if they sell thermos.

This is the same Thermos that Tim Horton used to sell which I’ve had for about 15 years – Needed a 2nd one so bought at Cdn Tire. This Thermos looks like it was designed for construction workers with it’s wide rubber rings.

Does a great job keeping liquids warm. Highly recommend it.

I personally LOVE the NO straw design. I don’t like straws bc they’re high maintance to clean. I love that the gaskets come out for cleaning and the stainless steel is easy to wash and does not retain any smells.

I sometimes add hydration or vitamin powder to my son’s water bottles. I gave 4 stars bc, although my son has not yet had a spill in his backpack, I do agree with other reviewers that it would be so helpful if there was a lock to prevent the release button from inadvertantly being depressed.

Almost perfect cup. We loved this cup for our daughter since she was 6 months old and drinking water. We have used the same one for almost 2 years but after a while they sort of leak from the lid. We always hand wash them ( better to take them apart and get in all the small spaces that way).

The designs have held perfectly on the bottles even when dropped etc. one other issue is that now that my daughter is older she needs more water , once you add ice there’s like no water in there. I need the bigger thermos cup to come with a straw already! We’re big fans of this tumbler but not using it for school because it’s too small now and she’s only 2 🙁 thermos help!.

Just got it and so far I love it! It does what is said it would do acutally. When you use it for hot liquid, the liquid stays very hot for 6 hours. So if you want to drink your hot tea you might have to wait 15min before.

This is not necessrily a problem just what to expect. Again i am glad it does as described.

It holds just enough hot or cold liquid for me. Keeps coffee hot for most of the day. Nice none slip material set in stainless steel . no leakage.

Thermos is known for keeping things cool and warm so when I needed a new coffee mug for traveling because the last one cracked I said I need something more durable. Well I bought two and my husband the truck driver who uses his daily has dropped, thrown, chucked and I’m sure there’s more but this mug has been through it.

He’s proud to say it has not dented LEAKED or even slightly got messed up ok maybe a few scratches. But these are thee best insulated travel mugs holds 16 oz and stays tight!.

Bought 2 months ago. Little bit smaller than some mugs, but not bad. Keeps coffee/liquids in even in car over very bumpy roads/sharp turns even in the ‘open’ position (lid on). Does not leak when closed.

Keeps drinks hot a pretty long time. Easy to clean simple lid system (no disassembly required like other lid systems with buttons/sliders etc). However, *YOU MUST DRINK WITH LID ON* or you will be dribbling liquid down the cup and all over you.

Somehow there’s a space between the body and the lid anchoring plastic top section, when you take a sip a little gets in between and flows down and out. Not great before a job interview!.

I’ve had it for about 6 months now and it’s been great. But I just don’t feel like it’s keeping my coffee hot. I could be my doing, it could be the weather change, I’ll give it the benefit of a doubt.

Maybe I should be using boiling hot water in a kettle instead of heating 16oz of water in the microwave for 3 mins on high. When I do that it’s steaming hot. But I’m drinking some right now, it’s been 3 hours since I’ve kept it in the Thermos and it’s warm, not hot.

It’s my observation, it could be my doing. And I thought the brand logo was full metal but the top part is a thin decal sticker that’s peeling off, the metallic-like sticker on the bottom of that is wearing out.

So boil your water if you want it hot throughout the day. Microwaving your water especially when you’re in a cold climate just won’t do. As for the leak proof lid, my cat tipped it over and no leak. Always close it when you’re not drinking from it, that’s always important for safety as well as cleanliness.

These sort of funtainers are very popular in our house! We have one that is 5 years old and still works great. My kids both use these daily at home and at school. My son is a HUGE super Mario fan and absolutely loves this mario printed one.

What I like best about these cups are that they keep the drinks iced cold or warm for up to 8hrs! My son went to school with ice in his drink and it was still iced cold when he went to refill it at dinner time.

We also have one of the bigger cups with the spout lid (no straw) I actually prefer this one. It is easier to keep clean. The straw and straw assembly gets very yucky fast with our well water. Would 💯 recommend to all my mom friends.

I found the bottle on Amazon initially, where it had really good reviews, and I was delighted to see that I could purchase from them directly! I got the black water bottle with silver stars. Two days in, while it was attached to the outside of my backpack, I brushed up against a bus stop, causing a white smudge to appear on the water bottle.

I carefully scratched the smudge off, and the black paint beneath was completely undamaged, which I was not expecting, which was wonderful to see. They also provide an extra straw with the order, which is nice to have in case you lose one, or the other gets damaged, not that that’s likely to happen considering how thick the straw is.

The straw occasionally makes a soft whistling sound, which usually disappears after a couple of sips, but it’s a much softer noise than most of my previous water bottles with straws, so I can’t fault them on that.

Also, this thing does not drip as long as the lid’s on tight, though I’ve never tried that with a super full bottle, so I can’t vouch for that situation. The water stays cold for the entire day, which I wasn’t expecting considering the thinness of the walls, but I also live in a colder climate and I’m not outside all day, so I can’t say that it’ll stay cold for, say, an entire day hiking in Arizona or something, but all of the ice cubes I put in in the morning are still there when I get home in the evening.

The only thing I can fault them for is something entirely inconsequential and incredibly minor, and that is that sometimes the mouthpiece tilts slightly to the side, but that’s easily fixed by pushing it back into place.

Overall, I’m super happy with this!.

I love the design, especially the straw lid and double- walled stainless steel that keeps everything cold for longer than I’ve ever needed. Yes; I do wish it would fit in most cupholders but; to be honest, I fault the automotive designers who still haven’t all caught on to the fact that people want to be able to stay hydrated for long periods of time and small , 22oz or less bottles won’t cut it.

Many people I know carry 64oz or more ( anyone doubt that? Check out sales of a double big gulp at 7-11). It is naive to think cup holders can’t be design to expand or shrink go fit most sizes today.

I’ve seen cars with them, so it is doable if desired. Also; cleaning is no big deal, the most challenging parts are the straw and lid which may wear down over time but there are many sustainable replacements available that are not too costly and coming down in price over time as well.

I paid more than the current price here but still feel it has been worth every penny for keeping my stuff cold. I hate room temp beverages and never deal with that anymore. Even the ice lasts for hours if you like ice in your drinks.

I love these contingo autoseal bottles and travel mugs. But I just wanted to alert you to a problem my father had with a similar contingo autoseal water bottle. He had been continuously filling the bottles and not airing the cap and the cap was full of mould.

This is common to all water bottles and is easily solved by taking the lid off and airing it overnight to refill the next morning. Run it through the dishwasher regularly (on the top rack). Fill it with a mixture of vinegar and hot water and leave that overnight on occasion (probably once a week would be ideal).

If you have a fully stainless steel one stick it through the dishwasher at the same time as the top, but if yours is coloured, hand wash it in soapy water. Do this regularly – as often as possible – as mould is no good for anybody.

While the problem is no doubt more prevalent with water bottles than coffee flasks, it could potentially be a problem for people who take the coffee flask to work and leave it sitting on the desk all day without rinsing it and then leaving the cap off for it to totally dry.

But on the bright side, the autoseal drinking spout on these bottles is amazing. When you’re ready to drink, press the button so the silicon seal inside releases and an ample supply of liquid will pour into your mouth.

You can regulate the flow by how far you press the autoseal button in. I love these coffee flasks and they will keep your coffee warm, but don’t expect it to keep your coffee boiling hot. They will gradually lose heat over time and if you start drinking your coffee or tea two or three hours after you feel that you will notice that it’s not as warm as you may like.

You can extend the time it will stay hot by filling the flask with hot water and pouring it back into your kettle and if you then immediately fill the flask with your coffee, it will stay much hotter for longer.

But please note it will never stay hot for as long as a properly insulated thermos, but I properly insulated thermos does not have the benefit of the autoseal cap. It is a trade off and for me the benefit of the autoseal cap, far outways the downside.

To be honest, most people will be using this to drink either immediately or in the next half hour on the commute to work and it’s really not going to be a problem. When I have wanted to keep my coffee warm for an extended period I store it in my thermos flask and transfer it to this bottle for drinking – easy!.

This is a great purchase and I’m very happy with it for my commute to work. I keep it in my bag to and from my car and the lock on the lid ensures there are no spillages whatsoever. There are no signs of leaks as well.

I’d say the drink retains most of its heat up to about 4/5 hours. It is still warm after this but gradually cools. A couple of small things could be improved. The metallic inside gives a slight taste to the drink.

I would imagine some kind of coating would remedy this. I’m hoping that after considerable use this will become less apparent. Also, the coloured travel mugs are not dishwasher safe. When I purchased this, there was no option to buy the stainless steel-coloured mug with no colour.

This one is apparently the only one that can safely be put in the dishwasher. The others may lose their colour. If this doesn’t bother you though then it shouldn’t be a problem.

My Review for West Loop Stainless Steel Travel Mug with AUTOSEAL® Lid, 16oz, I was given one of these tumblers several years ago as a gift. The giver knew that I drink coffee every morning and thought it would be a great gift.

They were spot on this has been my go to cup for coffee every morning for the past 6 to 7 years. I now have a collection of these cups because I retire the current cup every year on my birthday. Now I have tried others tumblers which I have did a side by side comparison, the Autoseal and Snapseal by Contigo and the 16 oz Coffee with flex sip by Hydro Flask.

When it comes to safe vehicle operation the Autoseal wins hands down , there is no comparison to the ease of operation while driving or operating heavy machinery. This is the main area of concern for myself and my circle of friends.

As far as the temperature of the beverage over time, the style and colors, construction all three product are close enough that it would be considered a tie in all other categories. The reason the Snapseal comes in behind the Autoseal is the Snapseal is very hard to open at time with one hand, I have been using the current one for a month and it is still difficult to open at times.

Also there is a particular way that I have to drink coffee out of the Snap seal or it burns my lip. With the Autoseal it is a first time every time easy push of the button with one hand operation and it doesn’t require any special lip positioning by the user.

If you are a desk jokey then either of the products will suffice your morning java needs. However if you are on the go and a mover and shaker then I would highly recommend the Contigo Autoseal so you can drink your java like a GOD.

Had a Thermos Work Series bottle that lasted 20 years before it lost its vacuum. Thought I’d splurge on this one based on its claimed performance. It’s very rugged, very durable, very good-looking, and still looks new after three years, but for me doesn’t keep coffee hot as long as I’d wish.

Even left full of boiling hot water, it’d never get anywhere near 40 hours, but in my typical day, once I finish my thermal cup and start refilling it from this, it’s hot in this bottle maybe another 6-8 hours before I’m wishing it were hotter.

I also wish the threads on the stopper and the lid worked more smoothly. My last criticism is that it lacks a foot pad. The bottom is exposed stainless, which is a nuisance in my clients’ houses as I don’t want it to scratch their stone countertops or wood floors, so I peeled the silicone pad off my old Thermos and glued it to this one.

For this price, it needs to include one. Basically, the look and finish are of such high quality that the functions are letdowns. My old bottle was so reliable and worked so well that this one unfortunately disappoints me.

I wish I’d read the reviews before purchasing this. The only reason I didn’t read reviews is because my hydro flask bottle has kept my drinks cold and hot for SEVERAL hours before and I trusted this to do the same with my food.

I even pre-heated the jar with boiling water before adding the hot food the second time I tried it. I was willing to believe the first time was just my own fault, a user error. But no, I even after pre-heating the jar, filling it with HOT food, keeping it sealed the entire time, and only opened it for lunch (just barely 5 hours later, hardly any time compared to how long my bottle has retained temperature for my drinks) the food was still lukewarm.

And because of the policy that used items can’t be returned (which I was unaware of…because most places don’t have that policy for this sort of product especially since how could I possibly know this would work or not without using it??) I now am still with a defective food jar that won’t keep my food hot for lunch at work and I’m out $40+ that I can’t get back and use for food that I can actually eat… I definitely can’t recommend this product in good conscience because it does not perform up to what i thought hydro flask’s standards were and if you are hoping to get an actual hot lunch from using this you will be disappointed.

It’s not a fault of the user/consumer. It’s the jar. Very disappointing and stressful.

We use this jar to pack food for lunch/dinner/late night work for our college kid. It gets filled with home made food right off the stove and then the kids get to eat reasonably warm food a few hours later.

Certainly, the food is not as hot as it was put in but stays warm enough for the kids to eat. A quick easy rinse in a sink before it comes back home for full cleaning. As long as the lid has been properly put on, we have not seen any leaks.

The BPA free label puts a smile on for us. In addition to soups, we also use it for carrying other foods such as noodles, rice dishes, breakfast items such as oats, etc. The jar has a bit of heft and bulk to it.

We love the color and the construction. While the bottom part is made of metal, the cap itself is made of plastic material. Not sure how long the color on the metal part will stay but it looks great when new.

On the inside of the cap is a soft red colored ring which is probably what seals the jar and keeps it leak proof. The ring needs to be taken off when cleaning. Getting the ring off the inside of the cap is a pain.

nothing to grab the ring and we worry about tearing the ring if we are not careful taking it off. Try getting the ring/seal of a wet and sometimes greasy cap, not easy nor fun. this should have been designed better, IMO.

Putting the ring/seal back on is not too bad though. Overall, a nice elegant package that meet the needs for our college kid and enables multi-use for soups, breakfast and lunch food.

These containers (I bought the 8 and 12 oz) we a bit heavier and bulkier than anticipated. I bought them along with the 3 and 5L lunchboxes for an upcoming full day hike. strangely neither fit snuggly inside the 3L lunchbox like i anticipated.

They did fit in the 5L bag with room to spare but it was too bulky to fit in my hiking bag. i contacted the company on how to prime them as there wasn’t any info in the pamphlet that came with them. They indicated they are not comparable to the water bottles in how long they keep food cold/hot.

They are only able to achieve 4-5 hours. I have the lightweight 32oz bottle and find it keeps temperature about 20% less than anticipated so I anticipate these will Produce the same results. So for the bulk, weight, inability to fit in the smaller lunch bag for hikes and not keeping food to temp as long as I need I’ll be returning them and finding something more suitable for my hike.

I just wish the temp guide was on the Altitude website like the water bottle info is. I do like they are made of stainless steel though !.

really lovely cup BUT really disappointed about how bad it is at keeping my coffee or hot drinks warm. Such a shame ! I heat it up and still it fails to keep the hot drinks hot ! Really disappointed as I have two of the lovely coffee thermoses from Stelton and they are great.

So a poor review for the cup!.

Love the character and it might not be as good as the vacuum (glass) but it serves the purpose.
