My family got the Coleman Sundown 6- Person Dome Tent to use when I was young to go camping which we really enjoyed doing as a family most weekends every summer before my parents got a divorce. My father kept some of the camping equipment that was still in good condition at the family home.

So just a few years later, when me and my now husband, boyfriend at the time, had our daughter, we absolutely wanted to show her the simplicity and enjoyment you can have away from electronics. She wanted to help with everything!!! The Coleman Sundown 6- Person Dome Tent is fairly easy and quick to set up.

It DEFINITELY helps keep you dry as we learned one night when while my husband was trying to cook over the tripod, it started to pour rain instantly. Without thinking about the rest of the food, we ran into the tent thinking that it should stop pretty quickly.

Instead, within 1 min of us going into the tent to get dry, we hear noises from right outside the tent and a large group of about 30 raccoons came to take EVERY SINGLE ITEM OF FOOD WE BROUGHT!!! They were tag teaming by sending 1 raccoon in to grab a whole large box of donuts and run out.

Then another would come running right up, dig in the grocery bag and grab a whole bag of bagels, next one- cream cheese, next one- chips, then came over to our cooler that was right outside the tent to get our bottles of water etc.

All my husband, daughter and myself could do is stand there and laugh as we watched them out the window of the tent. We laughed all night UNTIL our daughter had to use the restroom and we were still surrounded by atleast 30 sets of raccoon eyes.

Let’s just say we NEVER visited that camp site again. Then a few years later the movers we hired somehow lost that wonderful memory maker of 2 generations just about 😢 But I would absolutely recommend that Coleman Sundown 6- Person Dome Tent to all the beginner campers or all the experienced campers who still love camping the traditional way.

Great tent. I set it up in my backyard, to give it a trial run (and seam seal) before taking it out camping. There are pros and cons. Pros: Carry bag – the tent comes neatly packed in a carry bag, with tent, poles, rain fly, ground stakes, door mat, and instructions.

Setup – Easy. Set up by myself, with rain fly, in under 15 minutes. Didn’t have to look at the directions. Only suggestion would be to put the word “front” somewhere on the rain fly to indicate which way it goes.

However, a quick glance at the packaging will tell you. Materials – the tent material seems to be of good quality, and should hold up well when taken care of. The zippers are not heavy duty, but i see no issues with them.

The floor is heavy duty tarp material. Screens – the tent has large screen panels on the “ceiling”, which makes for a great view when the rain fly is not on. There is an additional window, and screen on the door for extra viewing and airflow.

Floor Vent – there is a vent near the rear of the tent, which allows for additional airflow. Cord access – there is a small zippered panel in the front corner, that let’s you run an extension cord into the tent.

Other “Pros”: I got the Navy/Grey tent, and the colors are cool. Got some compliments from the neighbors on it. I like that the rain fly comes with the guy lines already attached. The interior gear pockets are fine, good for holding your phone.

Wouldn’t stuff them with anything heavy. There is a little “ring” at the center of the ceiling, to hang a small light. While you could technically fit 2 queen air mattresses, I would not. It leaves no floor space for gear.

I will put in one mattress, and leave the other half of the tent for my kids Pack n’ Play, and gear. It will fit the 3 of us comfortably. However, unless you intend to get cozy, I wouldn’t advise this for 4 adults (but it could be done).

Cons: Stakes – the stakes are just ok. they are the generic skinny steel ones. I would recommend spending an extra $10 bucks and buy some good ones. Footprint – the tent doesn’t come with a footprint, though I imagine this helps keep the cost so low.

Not a big deal, I use a tarp anyways. Door Screen – the upper half of the door can be unzipped to reveal the screen window. I really would have liked if the entire door could be screen, not just the top half.

I also purchased some Coleman Seam Sealer, and sealed all the seams inside the tent, and the rain fly. Some of the seams are taped, but it’s just good practice to spend the time to do this, no matter what brand/cost/etc tent you have.

It saves headache down the road. Overall, I’m very pleased with the tent, and the cost. It will work well for short camping trips with a small family, couple, or individual.

The bag in which the tent and it’s related rods or pins come, is nicely packed inside. Instruction manual is stitched with the bag so it was helpful in windy weather not to worry about it being flown away.

The tent was big enough for a family of three and a dog and had ample space left for keeping something overnight inside that we didn’t want to left it in open. Installation as well as dismantling was really easy.

It comes with small foot mat sort of thing. The flooring is already stitched in it in case someone is worried about keeping extra tarp. Extra tarp is not needed with it. The windows are given that can be opened or closed and few pouches stitched inside to keep your bottle or something in it.

Overall, it was a good experience in camping using this tent.

I was a Boy Scout in the 1990s and these were the only tents we used from April-November all over New England. Of course when my son joined Boy Scouts I had to get the same tent for nostalgic and brand trust reasons.

Not much has changed over the past 20 something years. The plastic connectors are less complicated, the colors changed slightly saving white and brown for the higher end models, however the ease of assembly (can be put together by one person in the dark is a win to me), and the quality remain the same.

I did peek at other brands when shopping for tents online. However Eureka won in the long run especially when they offer replacements parts and repairs which the competition doesn’t. We just used our tent in the Maine Woods where it got down to 20 degrees in November and stayed warm and dry.

I have three Boys and will be buying more Eureka Timberline Tents as they younger ones get older so they each have one for them and their friends. Even when I ran into a snafu Customer Service went above and beyond.

We will be customers for generations. Thank you Eureka!.

I have camped in my Timberline since 1994. In the 28 years that my Timberline has traveled the United States it has always been a reliable and well-built shelter that’s always been dependable. There is plenty of room for 2 people in this tent, even three people can lay down comfortably in this shelter.

4 people as advertised is a bit of a tight squeeze. It can be a bit tricky to set up the first few times but once you get the hang of it, its a breeze. If set up correctly this tent will always keep you dry and out of the elements.

Theres plenty of room to move around in this shelter, added side pockets inside are great, zippers and screens are quality. The vestibule is a MUST and money well spent as an add-on for this shelter.

Lots of room, simple, and will most likely outlive its owner. Its hard to find good products these days, Eureka has always done good with this one.

Bought this because our 8 person instant Coleman tent was too bulky. It’s our first time using Marmot tent and we’re impressed with quality and attention to detail. Higher quality than Coleman in all aspects.

Size wise, it fit two people comfortably to sleep with our bags near our feet but it wasn’t easy to change in tent. But that was a compromise we were okay with to store and carry the tent more easily.

We will be using the large 8 person tent for long term camping nights and 2 person marmot for short weekend trips.

Note this review is only in the context of car camping, I haven’t taken it back-country yet. Easy to pitch; color-coded clips on the rainfly make installation simple. The option to roll back the rainfly partially to create a stargazing window is really nice.

Convenient gear stashes on the inside walls, but I wish there at a small pocket on the ceiling to mount a lamp or headlight. On first use, one of the cord tassles for a rainfly zipper immediately came off.

I love this tent. I had the 3 person limelight for several years and finally retired it to replace with this. It’s perfect for two people and two dogs. My only problem is that it didn’t come with a footprint and the assigned footprint purchased separately was too small and didn’t work at all.

That said, I have slept in this without a footprint in pouring rain and didn’t have an issue. Still searching for a matching footprint though.

Make sure you KNOW how this sets up BEFORE going away from reception!!! The ONLY reason I didn’t give 5 stars was due to lack of understanding instructions for a “newbie” like myself, as well as not having the option with no WiFi/cell service to research the product itself via TETON etc.

Once I realized I was overheating, I stopped trying to figure out the language used in the instructions and followed my instinct. I was able to put this up by myself in less than 30 minutes. did I put it up correctly, probably not.

Especially on where exactly you’re supposed to clip onto poles vs feeding them through the loops each clip is on. (diagram seems to show the opposite of what words tell you to do). Especially with how you’re supposed to run the silver pole through the top, OVER the 2 poles that hold sides up, this extra pole has me beyond confused on where its supposed to go.

Other than that, This is absolutely perfect for a portable safe space to bring ANYWHERE! The design is brilliant, very easy to assemble/take apart thanks to the design as well. Once again, I wish there was a bit more clarification on what I received, as I still have a mesh zipper part I have no idea where to put, or if its simply an extra part in case something happens? As well as feeling as if i did not put it together correctly in the first place.

Not really sure, but the point is this thing WORKS! This is now my space and mine alone! Thank you for giving me my “bubble” so people leave me be when I’m enjoying Nature Therapy! THANK YOU!!!!!.

Just bought this for a quick overnighter with my son. Sets up easily with one pole design and color-coded body and fly strap (put the red straps together). More than enough space for one person and some gear inside the tent and in the vestibule.

No rain at all, so I cannot comment on leaking or waterproof ability. However, after a detailed inspection of all the seams, it appears to be very well sealed. I would be surprised if it does leak. We were NOT at a hike/backpack site.

I do not think this is a packable lightweight tent, but manageable if you didn’t mind the bulkiness of it being strapped to your pack. Overall I think it is an excellent tent of good quality for the price you pay.

I got it for a great deal here on Moosejaw, but have seen it for less if you are patient and wait for deals. I just ordered the same tent but the 2-person version for about the same price. Already received it and it looks just as good and can’t wait to try this one out too.

This tent is awesome and probably my favorite tent I’ve used. And I highly recommend if you are looking for a good airflow tent Pros Great airflow – The fact you can open and close the ‘windows’ from the inside is great Plenty of room – very spacious.

Even on the side of the tent, at 6 ft tall, I was able to stand up with no issues. Then you could leave the side windows open when it’s raining Make the bag slightly bigger to make it easier to pack up the tent. While the bag isn’t small compared to some of the other tents. it would be nice to have room.

See the Big Agnes Bunk House 4 bag. Tip: Setup the tent at home first, and don’t try to set it up for the first time on your trip. While all tents are confusing at first, this one is a little more confusing.

Easy Setup Instructions: The tent has two ‘poles’ and each pole has a ‘V’ shape on each side. One of the sides of ‘V’ is longer than the other. Take the first pole and put the short sides of the ‘V’ in to the nearest holes in the back of the tent.

Then take the the long sides of each of the ‘V’ and put in the middle holdes in the front of the tent. Now take the second pole, and put the short sides of the ‘V’ in the nearest holes in the back of the tent.

And the long sides, put in the middle holes in the front of the tent. Done. Now clip up the tent to the poles, and then stake down the tent (do not stake down the tent before you clip up the tent). And lastly, put on the front ‘door’ and stake that down.

Like my title says, this is a great tent for great weather. When the weather turns though, not so much. I have spent roughly 20 nights in the tent this year. The best part about this tent is how tall it is, which is also part of its downfall.

Set up is a piece of cake, but shorter individuals will have a very tough time reaching the tops of the front and rear to clip the poles to the tent body. The poles can be extremely cumbersome if you are in a tight space.

The tent holds taut and anchors well, unless there are strong winds which caused my fully staked and guy wired tent to fold and collapse in on itself. In wetter climes, we had what NOAA described as nuisance rain, which led to the entire interior of the tent being soaked even with the windows closed.

Overall I do not think this tent does a good enough job at being a tent to justify the price.

Recently picked up this as a garage sale item at the Bend store. The tag said that the prior customer didn’t like the ventilation. I figured there must be something else wrong. I quickly grabbed it and took over a part of the store next to the sleeping bags.

I took everything out of the bag and almost to the point of completely setting it up in the store, I could not find anything wrong. So I read all the reviews to find out the real reason someone would return this tent.

There were a couple that mentioned bad ventilation and others that mentioned it was no good in the rain and weather but just as many and more that spoke positively about it holding up marvelously. So for 60% off the normal price, I took a chance.

At the time of purchase, my wife and I were camping along the Cascade Lakes Hwy so we set it up as soon as we got back to camp. Setup did take a little bit of trial and error as the pictographs for instructions were not that good but after about 20 minutes we figured it out and realized that the design was actually quite simple… just a really poor set of, or lack of, directions.

It was about 3pm at this point and about 90 degrees so we were immediately able to play around with the ventilation. I could not find any issues. It certainly wasn’t an air conditioned hotel room but air seemed to get in and out just fine and later that night when it cooled off (we were at 5k elevation) I adjusted the window flaps and all was well.

At about 2am I awoke to lightning and thunder and soon after that came the rain. The rain continued off and on through most of that next day, sometimes at a downpour and sometimes just a sprinkle. I secured the side window flaps and throughout the day not a drop of rain got in the tent.

The only thing we didn’t experience that day was snow and hail but somehow I believe it would have passed that test as well. Get this tent is all I can say. I imagine this will be the last one I buy.

I bought a 20. 00 Ozark trail tent 8+ years ago, and never had any trouble with it, but I needed an additional tent and opted for the Coleman Highline ll Dome Tent. I’ve camped with it twice and both times I’ve had to war with the cheap zipper.

There is a red flap around the zipper that is constantly getting caught in the zipper track. The zipper splits if you don’t treat it super, super gently, and fail to hold it together in just the right way as you zip the tent.

I honestly am ready to just throw the tent out and go buy a second Ozark trail tent. I’d always thought of Coleman as a durable brand with reliable products, but honestly this dysfunctional, defective zipper design has been enough to discourage me from buying Coleman products in the future.

A tent with a screwy zipper is garbage.

Took this tent camping in the Blue Ridge Mountains for 4 days. This baby withstood very heavy winds and rains with not a drop inside the tent! I love that the carry case has an expandable bottom- the tent packs back up very easily- no shoving around for space.

Fantastic choice for the price! Plenty of space for 2 people on a queen air mattress and their backpacks/lanterns. It has two small pockets on either side of the tent that keep your phone and keys and a water bottle off of the ground.

There is a little hook at the peak of the tent to hang a light. The zipper on the exterior has 2 flaps to prevent water from leaking in to the tent- very effective! The only thing is that the zipper can catch on these flaps if you aren’t mindful of them.

We were able to keep the window vented a couple of inches at the top while it was raining so it didn’t get stuffy in the tent. Because of the weather, I wasn’t able to see what the tent is like without the rain fly on.

Note- condensation can build up on the inside of the tent walls in the mornings if it’s very humid out- but I don’t think this is preventable in any tent. Only con- the stakes are more flexible than I’d like, but they held the tent steady in hard winds.

They got a little bent on entry. I would just purchase some heavy duty stakes if you’re a frequent camper.

Quality seems decent and is easy enough to set up. I did drop a star because the sleeves the tent poles go through are longer than others I have and makes it more challenging to set up. However, the biggest drawback is the tent poles go into plastic holders on the corners instead of metal pieces, which will make them more prone to breaking.

That said, the tent is inexpensive and pretty nice overall.

im leaving a review for this item because it is much higher quality than expected. i slept in 34 degree temp, but was WARMER at night because of the tent quality. the seams are pre-sealed also. the material is a better quality than a normal tent.

the ceiling has a hook for a light. the one small pouch is quite low to the ground and not see through, but the tent is large enough for a 6 foot man and his camping gear. its the best 2 man tent ive ever purchased and i highly recommend the wakeman company based upon my experience with this tent, camping in the field.

My 5-yr old Grandson is always wanting to camp…in the house, at the park, in the back yard, etc. So for. Christmas he is getting his 1st tent. Was recently delivered; need to wrap for the tree. Keeping my fingers crossed that it gets lots of use! Giving a 5 star rating now.

Purchase this tent brand new in 2014 or 15 Don’t recall exactly. Used it once no problems or issues and loved it. Haven’t camped for a number of years so the 10 has been in its bag in storage. I took it out this year 2021 camping and got rained on.

The claim of any type of integrated rainfly is a bunch of bunk. The tent was instantly wet to the feel on the inside. Later that night it rained heavier and the top collapsed soaking the two of us that were in there.

Ever since that happened the tent will not stay up and collapses. I’ve tried every way I know to ensure the poles are correctly staked in etc and it continues to collapse. This thing is a bunch of junk.

Total use of this tent two times. I wish I were able to get my money back for this thing but I don’t know after 7 or 8 years. Very very very very disappointed. I really wish that there were a rating in the negatives for this thing because that’s what it would get.

This is a good high-quality rainfly and helps keep the tent warmer during cool nights. Even though I rate it 5 stars, it could be improved. The tent and rainfly could be square so the fly would fit in any direction.

The tent and rainfly could have some means, like Velcro straps, to easily organize the tie down cords.

Without the rain fly my brand new tent leaked like a sieve, and I ALWAYS waterproof my tents before 1st use. I bought the rain fly and now the tent leaks from the lower seams – water pours down the sides.

I agree with other reviewers that getting in or out of the tent when raining is impossible but if the rest of my tent was dry I’d forgive that! Surely Coleman realizes that a sloped-side tent should have a full-length rain fly.

I wish I’d done more research; the ease of set up doesn’t make up for the puddles in my tent.

Recently purchased the Stormbreak 2 Tent and took it camping in inclement Humboldt Weather with outstanding results. The salesperson was knowledgeable, experienced with this Tent and provided an excellent tutorial on pitching it.

She recommended the Footprint which was purchased and glad I did. The footprint provided extra attention, protected the Tent from rain that had puddled under the Tent and Footprint. Was dry as a bone.

The dual entry doors are an added plus and the Tent provided warmth in 50 degree night temperatures without interior condensation. I do recommend using all stays/ties with the rain fly as to direct rainfall away from the Tent Doors.

The vestibule is roomy, enough for 2 backpacks and shoes, with room to enter easily. The interior has great side pockets for small gear and a center clip for a lantern. It would be a close fit for 2 cozy campers or 1 with very comfortable room.

I totally endorse this product and looking forward to wearing it out.

At 6’2, I JUST fit without laying at an angle. Width is enough for two people and their gear to fit cozily inside. The ease of deployment on this is great! Puts up in around five minutes, takes down in a very similar timeframe.

Tent (folded in half over itself twice) and tarp (folded over itself until it is the width of the poles) will fit snug in the original carrying bag. Simply roll the poles in the tarp, then place the rolled tarp on the folded tent for a final roll.

A little bit of roll tension is all you need to cinch it back down to size for storage. I personally love how loud the yellow colorway is too! Weighing in at over 5lbs, this guy is not my first pick for backpacking, though it can be done if you are hiking with a partner who is willing to split gear weights.

Otherwise, there are better performance options out there. For casual camping though, this would be a great dwelling for your toolkit :).

I purchased this tent in 2019. Multiple trips in backcountry. Tent did well until first downpour in the pacific northwest. TERRIBLE WATERPROOFING. I spent the whole night getting dripped on in multiple spots in the tent.

I have never had such a terrible night’s sleep in the backcountry. Tent never abused, stored properly, assembled correctly, but leaked ferociously in its first rainstorm. Very, very, disappointing. Worst piece of Northface gear I have ever had, and I have purchased thousands over the years.

If I could give this product zero stars, I would. Is there a negative star rating? -5 stars? I might as well construct pine tree shelters in the backcountry. TERRRRRIBLEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SOAKED BY SUNRISE.

We bought this product for an unusual reason. We are not tent campers but we recently adopted a small dog and found, during our housetraining sessions in the rainy and snowy season, that she would not go outside and “perform”.

We have no appropriate covered area and so we tried retraining her to go inside on a pee pad. or even in a tray with rocks to imitate the outside yard. She had learned to go outside so well that she would not use anything we had to offer inside.

So I got the idea of purchasing a small tent with the plan to cut out the floor and offer her desired ground surface plus shelter from the elements. I certainly wanted something waterproof and sturdy but I did not want to pay a lot if I was going to cut out the floor.

The tent arrived in the time promised and we were delighted to find that it was easy to set up, was sturdy and stable, and had an easy access door, but seemed very secure when it was zipped closed. in other words, great shelter from the rain and snow.

but functional for our purpose of using it for her shelter when she had to go outside. We live in the mountains in Arizona and we experience downpours of torrential rains and hail and lots of wind during the monsoon season.

The little tent that cost us less than $40 is performing like a champ. We do have it set up in a corner that is somewhat protected by a fence and the house, but it has seen a lot of that rain, hail and wind I was talking about.

We are not certain what it will do in the snow. The shape of it suggests that the snow will not build up too bad and be very heavy, but we have made a center pole just to be safe. I intend to keep the snow off the sides intermittently during the day if we get a bad snowstorm.

I have confidence, given what we have seen so far, that our little shelter will work just fine. And with the floor cut out, she will no doubt feel dry and protected. The floor that we removed is of a strong material also and I am using it as an additional cover over the door.

Perhaps I will try to fashion some kind of awning to keep the rain from getting inside when the door is open and our fur baby is inside doing her thing. As a person who did a lot of tent camping in my younger days I can tell you that this is a product as good as promised.

It would be an affordable tent for and extra for the little kids in the family. It would easily sleep 3 or 4 children. or roomy for 2 adults and those extras that one needs nearby, like boots and coats and morning clothes to wear when starting the fire, Thank you for giving what you promised and then some.

I got this tent pretty fast. It arrived and I took it out at home to see how big it was. I’ve never bought a tent before, nor gone camping on my own, so it didn’t occur to me at the time to check the tent for holes.

Sure enough when we got to the campsite and were putting the tent up – my boyfriend noticed a small hole on the side which did upset me since we left the repair kit at home. I can’t say if this hole was caused by us or if it arrived like this but nonetheless, please check your tents before camping.

This tent can fit a full size bed inside, but it will be cramped so I suggest sleeping bags for each person. To truly test this tent out, it actually started to rain and I was extremely worried about the hole so my boyfriend and I tied a trash bag over the hole and it worked.

As the rain came down and we were stuck inside, the sides of the tent became slightly damp, but nothing alarmingly wet. It did stop raining though so we took the trash bag off – yet during the night the rain had picked up.

This tent held up though and surprisingly enough, there were no wet spots inside the tent by morning – I was really impressed! For the price of this tent, this is a great start and good material just be sure to check your tents when ever you buy one.

I wont return this tent but instead repair it and keep it for a back up. My boyfriend says this tent was “fantastic. ” hehe.

Very easy to set up. came with all hardware needed. Very roomy for two, but not too good for taller people over 6 feet. It’s water resistant, but moisture did get in when rain heavily. An extra tarp on top made a big diffence.

Very nice color combination and nice seam works. It’s quite compact when folded so you can hang it below or in your backpack. I set it up in my backyard for tanning purpose. I found the temperature rises pretty fast during a bright sunny day at around 75 degree.

I wish it has an extra window so the air would cool the inside temperature to a comfortable level. Not too much headroom, you might have to kneel down to perform all the activities such as changing clothes.

I also like the idea that two fiberglass rods were used to support the structure of the entire tent and it was holding up pretty good at twenty-five miles wind. It’s been set up in my backyard for over a month and I used it almost everyday.

It’s quite comfortable in some rainy and windy weather but not yet tried it under forty-five degree days. This tent is truly worth the money and I would strongly recommend it. Top screen very helpful when sun beating on tent.

Side pocket for your eye glasses, phone, keys and tablet. Overall it’s a very comfortable tent for the price. It’s quite small when folded. You can easily put in or hanging on your backpack.

I’ve used this tent in spring, summer, and fall of 2021 on the Canadian Shield (mostly BWCAW) for about 8 total weeks of use. The tent saw extreme rain, freezing cold, and intense heat. I have owned several tents of similar size over the past 30+ years, so this is not my first rodeo.

I replaced a much heavier 3-person tent with the Tungsten UL 3P, so I was a bit surprised at how easily the materials of this tent can be damaged from innocuous things like swatting a mosquito against the inner wall (don’t do it!).

It caused the mesh wall to warp badly, but fortunately no holes (yet). The materials are good quality, but not made for any sort of abuse, period. 2. Tent has decent ventilation but still suffers from condensation issues.

On a typical cool night (temps in 30s – 40s), I found it was impossible to prevent water condensation that forms on the poles and top panels, sometimes so bad that it drips on you while you are sleeping, leading me to believe the tent wasn’t waterproof until I carefully examined it and realized it is strictly condensate, not leakage.

I’ve tried leaving the doors open and even not using the fly, but still have had issues with condensate. In one extreme situation, I pitched the tent on a campsite that later flooded about 2″ deep after two days of non-stop monsoon-like rain in the BWCAW.

I had standing water in the tent, ~80% due to condensation dripping back in the tent and through the mesh walls–~20% due to splashing through the lower mesh walls (floor did not leak at all, amazingly).

So much water came in that I had to bail the tent with a cooking pot after day two. Fortunately my pad was thick enough to keep me and my down quilt above water. To be fair, this wasn’t so much a design issue, instead it was the ~10″ of rain that fell over 48 hours, along with 40 mph winds and plenty of lightning and thunder.

I hope to never experience this situation again, but the tent held up reasonably well–no leaks or damages in the materials. It simply wasn’t designed for this type of abuse–frankly, few if any tents are.

That said, my old tent, of much heavier nylons, withstood storms like this much better than this tent does–of course, it weighed more than double what this tent weighs. 3. Very easy to set up and take down.

I can thoroughly stake and guy the tent+fly in less than 5 minutes if I hustle. That’s half the time my old tent required to set up. A nice bonus when the black clouds are bearing down on you in the middle of the wilderness.

4. For its weight, the floor space is generous, makes it easy to take a lot of gear/clothes/etc in the tent without interfering with the sleeping space for two people. Never tried fitting three in the tent–I’m sure it is doable, but would be extremely cramped and no additional gear would fit.

For a 3P, this tent has more space than most. 5. Excellent vestibule design–one is larger than the other side, and both sides are steep walls, which means you can fit multiple big and tall packs easily.

A huge improvement from my old tent! That said, the steep walls contribute extra space but make zipping the fly doors shut quite a pain, as you have to lean way out of the tent to do so. This means 100s of mosquitos, black flies, no see-ums, and other insects can easily get in if you crash at dusk like I usually do.

6. The flaws. there are a few, mainly having to due with rain/condensation resistance. To save weight, the mesh goes almost all the way to the floor–this allows rain to splash off the ground from outside the fly right into the mesh.

Not an issue for a quick storm, but a major issue for prolonged rain, where you will get a lot of water coming through. If it wasn’t for the large floor space that gives room to move things away from the edges, this would be a deal-breaker for me (see above).

I have a hard time faulting the tent for this, as it was a clear weight-saving decision in the design and one that I should have been more aware of when I purchased. If you are going to camp in extreme rain situations, this is not the right tent, period.

For all other 3-season conditions, including light-to-moderate rain, it is a great choice. 7. My lower back loves this tent. Incredibly light for its size! Carrying 50+ LB packs across many miles of portages makes the trade-offs for the UL design (see above) fully worth it.

8. This tent is not for freezing cold nights. Should be obvious, but if you are the type that easily gets cold at night, consider a heavier tent model. If you sleep warm like I do, this tent is tolerable in 20-30 degree F conditions.

Where the tent really shines is 90+ degree F weather–it breathes really well and dissipates heat better than any other I’ve used. 9. I recommend this tent for non-buggy sites in all but the heaviest of rain situations.

It is versatile, well thought out, quick to deploy, truly lightweight, has excellent vestibules, and is made from completely waterproof materials. Just consider yourself warned about the effects of heavy rain storms and thick clouds of biting insects.

Every tent is nothing but a bunch of trade-offs, so don’t expect the world from something that only weighs a little over 3 LBs. If you know you will be in extreme conditions, this is probably not the tent for you.

I look forward to another year of use in 2023 and at that same time, I do wonder how long the materials will last. My previous primary nylon tent lasted me 22 years, this one will thrill me if I get 5+, but I require the lower weight.

So far, mission accomplished!.

Still new to this tent, but it performed well on the first two outings. It is very light. Excellent room for two and still within a reasonable backpacking weight budget. I purchased the footprint and recommend you do too.

We split up with 42oz for the body and fly and 34. 5oz for the poles, footprint, stakes, guy cord and repair kit. Fly pitches tightly if you stake out the side between the doors. The vents are a nice feature however I deducted one star because the reinforcement patch on one of them had unraveling stitches on the second setup.

I will send it in for warranty repair, which I’m sure Marmot will support, but if the repair lead time is long I may fix this myself. The green strikes me as an odd color – almost faded in the pictures, but in the field it’s a pleasant color that blends in well with surroundings without being impossible to see.

The fly has bits of reflective material that serve well to guide you back from a late-night bio break. Zippers are fine gauge and somewhat fiddly but I had no problem when the tent is pitched tautly.

Setup is quite easy, although I’d strongly prefer if the two main poles were permanently joined at the intersection. The pole clips seem functional but I expect they would break if I accidentally stepped on one I have not yet had it out in the rain, but with the fly pitched fully taut I see no reason to get wet inside.

The seam sealing appears to be good quality. It has ample ventilation with the full mesh tent body.

I bought this tent to replace a Marmot Earlylight 2, which I was very happy with but unfortunately, after 8 years both windows failed on the fly and that meant replacing the entire tent. I wish Marmot sold a replacement fly as the rest of the tent remains in perfect condition.

Pros-I got it for a very good price and it comes with the footprint. While it could fit 2 people, it was the perfect size for me and my gear. There are two doors, each with it’s own vestibule. Easy setup with color matched tabs and poles.

It held up well in heavy wind. Cons-the footprint does not match the tent exactly, as it did on my Earlylight. During heavy rain the first night some rain seeped between the footprint and tent body and came through into the tent.

I made some adjustments, mainly looping the body attachment under the footprint and first inserting the poles into the footprint then body and tightening everything up. However, as the rain stopped for good I am not certain it was solved.

It is a bit heavy for a long backpacking trip but still lighter than most tents at the same price point. I set it up when first received and didn’t notice the footprint fit as an issue at the time. If I had, I would have returned it.

We bought the MSR zoic 4 in 2020 for our 5 month family bike trip in France. Me, my wife and our daughter were extremely pleased with our experience with the zoic 4. It is very spacious for its weight and easy to mount.

Nevertheless nothing’s perfect and we have some recommendation to make it even better: -> the mesh fabric is quite fragile. After a year of usage we discovered several holes in the mesh. We are currently getting in touch with the seller in France for warranty.

-> the color of the rainfly is not the best for families with young children. The grey is quite ‘white’ and lets a lot of light pass through. Consequently young children might have a hard time getting to sleep in long summer days.

A darker colour for the rainfly would be great. -> under long or heavy rains, the rainfly can come in contact with the mesh in near the top of the tent, on the sides. We sometimes were obliged to disconnect the mesh close to those contact points to avoid it.

We tried different configurations for tensioning the rainfly but could never completely avoid this.

I purchased this tent with my partner about 10 days ago for our spring canoe trip in the Adirondacks this past weekend. We researched and hunted through tent designs for about 6-months before landing on the Zoic series despite it being brand new with very little feedback.

We tried the 2 and the 3 person designs in MEC, and loved the space in the 3-person so we went for it. We purchased the ground sheet with it, which is not included. We took the tent out on our three day canoe trip; The Saturday was completely dry with some light rain overnight, and some minimal drips on our mesh interior which started our concern.

Sunday saw a 1. 5 hour thunderstorm in early afternoon (30min heavy rain & 60min light rain). 2nd Thunderstorm a few hours later was 2 hours long again (30min heavy rain, 90min light). By the time we got in to go to bed at 11:30pm the fly was dripping water through to the mesh in multiple places but mainly the top of the tent at the peak.

Overnight we had intermittent light rain, and we woke up to part of the tent base being fully saturated and moist, wet gear, and sleeping bags. I would rate these rain conditions at 7. 5/10 in terms severity for what I’ve tripped through in Ontario and New York so I fully expected the interior of my tent to be dry especially given it’s brand new.

Important note: we used some spare rope on the side walls to stake them out despite not being provided guy-lines, picture with the peg is just to demonstrate lack of guy-line. Positives: Peak height great for sitting up and steep side walls are nice, loads of space for two people in the 3p, ample vestibule space, simple lightweight design, included roof top gear lofts as well as side pockets.

We loved every aspect of this tent from a design perspective, until it was put to the test of a solid rain storm. Given it was completely brand new, and it failed so considerably we have returned it to MEC.

Fond of the MSR brand but feeling lost & disappointed.

I replaced an old, trusty tent of 15 years with this one. I really like this tent! The old tent had the feed narrower than the head, but this one has a perfectly rectangular footprint. The mesh is great for giving you that airy feeling inside the tent without the rain fly.

Great storage vestibules for various nicknacks. The only thing I’m weary of (from all the video reviews I watched) is that the original rainflies were NOT seam sealed. Mine had a handwritten “S” on the tent label, so it was seam sealed at the factory.

It did not rain the 2 nights we used it for, so I cannot attest to the waterproof-ness of the seams. My son and I loved this tent. I suspect you will enjoy it as well. It is REALLY easy to pitch.

Good color kinda coyotes brown. Easy setup. Its roomy and comfy. Light rain no problem. Downpour you got a problem. Use a secondary tarp or maybe rig up some sort of rain fly. Great for backyard or basement camping.

Great on the beach and in dryer climate this is a great quick shelter. Not ultralight or small but flat and would go right behind truck seat. For $38 Im already pleased. Nothing super great but decent quality and very useful light duty.

I might camp on the pier tonight.

This tent is very light-weight (5 lbs with stakes) and easy to set up. Pops right into place. The downside is its a bit awkward hiking with a big round disc. Stakes are not very sturdy, so probably would not stay put in a strong wind.

It was necessary to spray it with a water repellent spray, as the inside material became wet and there were some drips when it rained.

Got this as a kids tent for inside the house & backyard because it takes about half a second to set up, and maybe a minute to collapse once you remember how (Watch the video). Perfect for that, and price is right.

Haven’t tested waterproofness, but I wouldn’t expect for this price anything but a fair weather second tent (ie not gonna trust this in a rainstorm).

I went camping last week and was excited to try my new tent. While putting it together two clips that are supposed to attach to the poles just fell right off because the stitching was loose. The zipper to the window was broke.

The top cover of the tent is not even secure so from the outside someone can just literally lift it up and watch you sleep. I’m upset because I did not open the tent until I took it camping so it’s to late to return the junk.

Oh, also no instructions on how to put it together and there was mold in the bag that the tent was in. I purchased it in June and went camping in August and it was in my living room so it did not come from me.

It says it’s waterproof but I’m glad it didn’t rain because the material was thin.

Do NOT buy this tent if you are going anywhere with wind. I had just put the tent up staked it down and when the wind came. Only a decent wind not even a strong breeze and my poles Broke! I want a refund.

Not only did the poles break but the tent ripped where the stake was supposed to keep the tent down. AGAIN DO NOT BUY THIS TENT I WANT A REFUND.

Have now had the opportunity to use this tent on 4 trips, all of which have been car camping. With the little bit of movement between a storage bin, set up and tear down, both poles now are bent. I believe it’s simply from the arch of the tent shape, but not certain.

The rain fly sags in between the tent poles even when staked out and away from the base of the tent, I’m not sure how to get these tighter or more secure. The rain fly does not have much to deter water from coming in when you open/close the zipper to access the tent.

I purchased this tent to have a larger, more spacious tent for car camping versus the lighter and less roomy backpacking tent I own. Overall I am not satisfied with the tent and would go back and invest more if I could in something with better thought and quality put into it.

I used this tent on an elk hunting trip to Colorado, I got is on sale for $80. 00. This is the easiest tent I have ever used for set up and take down. Everything is so straight forward and simple. The stakes are nice strong aluminum stakes.

It kept us dry during some pretty heavy rain one day. The double door and double vestibule worked great for keeping our gear, large pack, bow, boots, bino harness out of the elements. Pockets and gear loft were nice.

It even fits back into the bag with ease, which also has straps to lash it to you pack if needed. Slept two guys with enough room to be comfortable, not roomy but works great for its weight. We had one person carry the poles/stakes and the other the tent and fly in the bag stuffed into the top of our big pack compartment, just don’t roll it too tight or it won’t squish into the pack as easy.

We did not use a footprint. We moved and obvious sharp sticks but had a few sharper bushes that couldn’t be moved which pushed on the bottom but we never had a puncture. We were setting camp in the middle of the woods so no camp pads but we never had a problem other than trying to find a flat spot.

Just make sure to keep the fly pulled out tight using the corner ropes otherwise your sleeping bag might freeze the the tent wall on those extra frosty nights.

I ordered several tents. This Stoic, Marmot Tungsten and Northface Stormbreak 3 – all 3 person tent. I set them up on my living room hardwood floor. I liked this tent a lot – before I placed the rain fly on it.

Storage pockets were plenty and well placed, door entry size with all almost all around zippers really great but the minute the fly went up it got super stuffy and the weird intense red glow you get inside with this rain fly was very off-putting.

Even though, setup as easy and it seems sturdy, I now do believe reviews that stated that condensation is an issue with this tent. Sending back ASAP.

When I say I liked this tent, I really did. It was spacious enough for five people and gear and it kept us dry for four years of moderate camping (2-3 times a year). On the fifth year I had To waterproof it but the seams were failing, as ants were getting in, so we decided to pitch it , no pun intended.

Because of this tent I only planned to go with Coleman when replacing it as I was happy with most of its features. I wish the springy door actually worked – we omitted the poles every time and just zipped up a loose fabric door because otherwise the tension was too hard on it.

I wasn’t a fan of the door height from the ground and its center placement, it made it hard for little ones and shorter adults to step in and out of the tent and it could be awkward if we arranged the bedding near the entrance.

I also wish it had a divider but I always made one out of a sheet, a clothesline and clothespins. I hope our next tent checks all the boxes since we know what we’re looking for now, but this one, even with my complaints, was pretty good as it goes.

Very simple setup but you definitely need two people, as with most tents. The screened in front porch area is great for camping in areas with lots of bugs or mosquitos. I would say this is a fantastic tent for an entry level camper or someone that goes maybe twice a year.

We went camping during pretty heavy winds and rains and the wind snapped the poles for the tent which is why I Gave it a 3 star review. If you’re looking for a nice basic, large tent this is great!.

Unlike some others, i have found the Base Camp 4 to be almost perfect for my base camping needs. I use the Base Camp 4 for 1 week trips star gazing. This tent has aluminum poles, geodesic design and sleeves.

It doesn’t get stronger than that. Winds have been between dead calm to 35 mph gusts. On one Florida Keys trip, winds were sustained at 25 mph and the Base Camp was steady even without guy lines. I use the guy lines for winds higher than that, especially the previously mentioned gusts.

The Base Camp 4 has also served well in 20 degree weather and torrential sideways rains. I’ve not had any difficulty securing the top vents. You do have to be gentle with normal use. Afterall, It is just a tent.

Don’t force the poles during set up and use a floor saver tarp inside. If you’re rough with your stuff, you’ll have wear issues. If you take care of your equipment, you’ll enjoy your Base Camp a long time.

I bought this tent a year ago and love it. I was looking for a larger tent that had a height that would allow a playpen for my youngest to fit into and our family of four with a large breed dog. This one had the space and the height.

My husband can stand in the tent at 6ft taller. It has big beautiful windows as well to enjoy the fresh air and the views while camping. It is quite large but it very easy to assemble. I took the two kids and myself in this tent and was able to put it together on my own, the rain fly may be a little.

but of a challenge for a shorter person, I am 5’4 and it took a stool for me to stand on to get it on top without help on the other side. The tent is quite spacious, it would easily fit two queen air mattresses if needed, with some room to spare.

I used a double mattress single and was able to lay down some yoga mats in prep for a rainy day inside the tent for the kids to have a play area. There is also space in the vestibule that comes on either side of the tent for any extra storage that does not fit.

It has amazing airflow and while camping we were hit with rain during the night. The tent never leaked. The bottom lining of the tent admittedly feels thin. I would lay down some mats in high walk spaces, especiallybat camp sites with gravel, just to keep the bottom intact for long term use.

I am very happy with my purchase of this tent and would say 8 adults would be tight, 6 comfortably. Our family of 4 with a dog have plenty of space.

Woods Tent I am so very pleased with this tent!! It arrived about three days after I ordered it online. I had a problem with one of the poles, and left an email message on a weekend about that making the tent dysfunctional.

I received an email reply by the end of Monday and another tent in a few days which checked out fine. That’s speedy service for you!!! I bought it because most of the reviews are positive and some are ecstatic (and I’m one of them), because of the reputation of the company being very responsive and it fit all my “wants”: Two doors, two windows, roomy, fly comes all the way to the ground, under $200, rain and wind resistant, easy to assemble.

Here’s some of the features that make this a good tent: • It performed well in rainy weather, even without seam seal on the fly. (though I would recommend following this requirement in extended or monsoon weather.

) • All openings have double sturdy zippers. • All openings can be secured open or zipped shut. • The door and window openings on the fly can be secured open or shut. • There is a “vestible” for each door that can be secured to the ground to provide a protected entryway.

My camping chair fit into this area, as well as shoes and a wipe off cloth. • A separate pocket is provided and a hook at the peak of the tent. • Even the fly has a couple protected vents in it. • The carry bag is very roomy.

• It’s not overly heavy. I’m 80 and could carry and put it up with a friend easily. These are my recommendations: • Read the instructions before setting up the tent. Follow them. It’s much easier to use two people to lift the top pole first, bringing the bottom pole along with it, as shown in the picture.

• Since the fly does not come completely down to the ground on the window sides, stake them away from the tent a bit to protect from rain. • Put seam seal on the fly if you expect a lot of rain or snow.

• It was difficult for me to find the “pockets” that the fly pole went into. I used a marker to highlight them. • Be sure to take the tent down in reverse order; it’s easier that way. • I bought an 8×10 tarp for ground cover, especially good if the ground is rough or pokey.

It’s not recommended to have the ground cover extent too much beyond the tent as it can guide water to the tent. • I recommend two rugs for the entrances. • Bring along a mallet and stake puller. My recommendations for the company: • Change the label.

This is not a 4 person tent, unless they are all children (this is true of most if not all advertised 4 person tents. ) With my dog, her bed, and my gear, this felt roomy and big enough for us. It might be ok for an intimate couple and small pet(s).

• Manufacture the tent poles separately so you can replace those that are defective without having to replace the entire tent.

Cool color, super lightweight but durable. This held up on exposed beach in Homer, Alaska with some rough winds. The internal frame poles aren’t easy to set up. Helps to have a friend, so if you’re going solo, I’d practice before you find yourself in a windstorm trying to set this up.

The color is slick and identifiable from a distance. Internal pockets are great for storing those items you want readily accessible: headlamp, slippers, books, bear spray/gun. Sleeps two, comfortably.

Most ideal for a duo on an overnight trip. I’d also consider buying separate tent stakes that can fit in the existing holes meant for the rain fly/cover. This would expedite set up. The quick lock mechanism to secure the cordage to the tent stakes worked well.

I’d also recommend pre-attaching these to the stakes. The rope is very thin and on a mountain with high winds and cold fingers, this will pose a challenge. Overall, get familiar with the nuances of this tent before stepping off and you’ll be impressed by its minimalism, lightweight design, and durability.

This is a high altitude mountaineering tent. Its not great in the rain & you WILL get wet. From doing more research AFTER I bought it which was totally my fault, I might have made another choice. But I will make do.

The materials are top notch & it is VERY light. Great for back packing far into the bush/long treks. But I now know its made where your not near a water source or a humid/rainy climate, its made for high up above tree the line mountain weather where it can snow (not wet dense snow ) or set up in high winds.

Its very sturdy for its size & sets up fast. People have said in other reviews it can take 70 KPH winds. But at this price point, I was surprised to find out you have to apply the supplied sealant to the inside/outside of all seams & let it dry for 24hrs yourself.

I might consider a diff tent for other overnight treaks and use this only when weather permits.

I haven’t tested this tent, so these are first impressions. For an alpine-style tent (small, lightweight, holds up in most conditions), this is a good tent for the price. There are tents that are lighter (eg MSR advance pro, BD firstlight) and more robust to weather (but heavier), but all of these tents are significantly more expensive.

Single wall tents are easier to set up, but this is one of the more difficult ones. You can get a better tent if you’re willing to spend almost double the price, but I think this is the best in the price range for bivy-style alpine environments.

Note that the air manifold at the top has some internal wires that add some bulk when rolled up. I’m also not a big fan of the long-side door as it adds weight and alpine ledges tend to be long and narrow.
