20 Best Sugar Substitute For Baking For Diabetics (2023 Updated)

Today, I made some healthy chocolate truffles. These are low carb, low sugar, and peanut free! I was diagnosed recently with pcos so I have to eat healthy and exercise to keep my periods regular. These have whipped cream cheese, and good dee’s double chocolate cookie mix ( you can purchase the mix on Amazon or their actual website ( with mini chocolate chunks in it ) I mixed those two ingredients together with a tiny bit of vanilla extract and then roll into small balls.

I put in the fridge for 15-20 minutes so they can cool down. I used Lily’s dark chocolate chips ( you can purchase this in grocery stores – in the wellness section – or on Amazon ) and coconut oil to make my melted chocolate.

Once I put my melted chocolate on the truffles, I sprinkled some erythritol sweetener on top for that bit of sweetness without the use of actual sugar. Then I put back in the fridge so the chocolate can harden.

These are delicious and healthy. I don’t feel guilty eating truffles anymore! 🍫 🤤.

Starting using this as a sugar replacement and so far so good! No weird aftertaste and it seems to dissolve better than granulated sugar. Used it to bake and I couldn’t tell the difference!

OMG, has monk fruit always been out there? My oldest daughter turned me on to this and I cannot thank her enough. This is by far the best tasting sugar alternative hands down. To the makers, thank you, thank you so much! I will buy nothing else moving forward.

This product is fantastic! This is the first sweetener I actually prefer over real sugar. It’s a tiny bit harder to dissolve but it tastes better! As sugar may have a slight taste of sugarcane this is more like a pear to me.

Normally I get the regular white kind but this brown one taste better in my coffee if you don’t mind the couple carbs! The Whole Earth Baking Blend is by far my favorite keto sugar. No after taste…. just taste like sugar.

I was happy to try a new natural low GI sweetener but, after several uses, can’t see the point of using it. To me, it has a bitter aftertaste on its own but added to a batter, there’s no trace of bitterness or sweetness – nothing.

It doesn’t seem to affect anything – browning, texture. I keep increasing the amount used in my almond chocolate chip cookies but end up with an unremarkable, unsweet batter; a waste of ingredients. After today’s fail, I won’t use it again.

My new favorite! Just made a batch of “Chinese” donuts ie the donuts served at a Chinese buffet. Used a roll of biscuits ripped into 4 balls, spritzed with coconut oil, 3 mins each side at 350 in my airfryer.

Rolled them in a bowl of this sweetner and voila! wow not fat-free but def a delicious sugar-free treat!.

Do not use this if you plan on having a any type of “crisp “ topping. Used it for Apple Crisp and ended up with what amounted to buttery jelly on top of the apples. Fail .

It has good flavor and is not overly sweet like some artificial sugars. However it arrived with many clumps in it, hard to measure accurately when there is clumps. I was able to smooth out most of them to use the sugar.

The price was very high for similar products at the store.

1st. Sugar4Diabetics price is TOO expensive, product itself OK. I will NOT buy again seems to me the company that sells this product is taking advantage of ones disability.

I’ve been using this sweetener for years! I always choose this instead of regular sugar. It works great in everything however I use it mostly in drinks. I love that I can add sweetness to my drinks without feeling guilty about the calories.

It tastes great just like normal sugar and I recommend this as a great sugar alternative!.

I’m so obsessed with Sweet N Low! When I first started trying to watch what I eat (and drink) sugary drinks were the first to go. Unfortunately, [brand:chick-fil-a] sweet tea is a guilty pleasure of mine.

Thankfully, after some experimentation with different sweeteners, I found that Sweet N Low was the one for me! As someone who loves the full flavor of cane sugar from time to time, the difference between [brand:sweet-n-low] and [brand:splenda] is like the difference between cane sugar and granulated sugar.

It just doesn’t even come close.

This is a great artificial sweetener with a long legacy of safety. It does have a slight aftertaste but I don’t even notice it anymore. I use this for my coffee, cereal, in oatmeal and in baking.

Baking is one of my hobbies—the fancier and dessertier the recipe, the more I’ll enjoy making it. With diabetes running in the family and my body not getting any younger, though, I’ve become less and less comfortable with using the amounts of sugar required by the sort of things I enjoy making.

Truvia sweet complete is perfect for that! Measuring cup-for-cup I find it a little less sweet than sugar but not enough to be a problem I feel the need to adjust. I’m extremely picky with flavors and aftertastes and truvia is the mildest sweetener I’ve tried! I’m sure most people won’t ever notice the difference.

I barely do and I’m what my family calls a super-taster. Recently I found this product’s weak point, though: it does not dissolve as readily as sugar. It’s not a problem when baking due to the high temperatures taking care of truvia’s stubbornness, but lately I’ve gotten into making sweet, flavored coffee drinks which do not require heat and the truvia will not melt the way sugar would in its place no matter how vigorously I mix: the end product still has a grainy mouthfeel.

I’ve verified it’s the truvia and not some other ingredient causing graininess by making every recipe with sugar at least once and, yep, no graininess there. So if this little issue can be fixed it really will be the perfect sugar substitute! Also, every artificial sweetener acts as a laxative to some degree; some people are more sensitive than others, some sweeteners are more potent laxatives than others.

That can’t be helped very much, it’s just the way our bodies metabolize (or don’t) these sugar substitutes. Keep in mind that sometimes the price for not ingesting a bunch of refined sugar is a few extra trips to the bathroom, lol.

So I’ve done quite a bit of baking recently, my husband thinks that he’s just gotten lucky lol. I used this in a cake and I honestly couldn’t tell any difference. Tried it in brownies and I definitely could tell a difference, they just didn’t taste the same and it’s weird but I don’t think it baked the same either.

You know how the corners of brownies get all crunchy and yummy, these were different, it’s hard to explain, and they tasted different. My two year old daughter ate them happily but no one else wanted them lol.

I used it in muffins (triple berry) and I think it added something to it, they were delicious. Then comes the cookie disaster. Guys, they were HORRIBLE!! Just nasty. I don’t know what happened but I had to throw out the whole batch.

They were peanut butter and I guess they just don’t mix well because it was gross. So, all in all, it really depends on what you add it to.

I have found that most stevia products do not sweeten as well as Equal this product is the same way. I have to use far more of this product to get the sweet taste that I like. I do like that it comes in a bag so it’s easier to use than ripping open Equal packets, but Equal Spenda also come in containers that make it easier to use when you need a larger amount.

I also must say that stevia often makes me run to the bathroom (I know… TMI, but I thought I should mention this). This product also caused the same bathroom related issues. I tried using less of the product, did not have the severity of side effects that I have when I use more.

After doing a little bit of research, I learned that stevia products are made with sugar alcohols that may cause digestive problems, such as bloating diarrhea. This product contains Erythritol, which is a sugar alcohol.

For those who are sensitive to it, erythritol side effects can include digestive problems diarrhea. It may also cause bloating, cramps, gas. Additionally, erythritol other sugar alcohols can result in more water in the intestines, causing diarrhea.

I stopped using sugar a year ago and exchange it for xilitol and stevia. I know stevia is not for everybody because may have adverse effects when taken with certain drugs so before you start to use it, check if you can.

Anyway this is not a raw stevia ! Raw is the name on the brand and inside you will find stevia blended with dextrose which is specifically a simple sugar ! Dextrose is a related to glucose but still it is a sugar.

I wont buy this brand.

This sugar is the best sugar in the market. It contains stevisoide that lowers blood sugar as well as high blood pressure. Is amazing the heath benefits it contains. I also read in an article it helps with weight loss! It tastes very good and you only not a lot of it before is sweet.

These crystals look like, and measure as, real sugar does. So I figured, great, use it in a meringue icing. To make it you heat sugar and egg whites in a double boiler, while whisking until it reaches 140°F.

Normally this makes the sugar melt and the egg whites stiffen. But after 5 minutes it wasn’t happening. So I moved the insert to the mixer and gave it another 10 minutes on high. Still no peaks, but I figured no matter after I beat in each of 8 Tbs of room-temperature butter.

It came out a perfect buttercream for piping, except, unbelievably, I could still feel granules, slightly gritty. This is a good sweetener without chemical aftertaste, so it’s definitely a good substitute for people like my grandpa who forever stir their cup of sugar with a little coffee added, while waiting for it to cool.

I rarely dislike a product so much that I’m compelled to write a review. Apparently most reviewers don’t share my opinion, but my review might be helpful to some people. As another reviewer noted, this product is very coarse and gritty.

It has a crunchy texture and the molasses seems to be sitting on top of grainy sugar crystals, therefore it has a very sticky, tacky texture that makes it hard to even get out of the bag. This is not a typical characteristic of “dark” brown sugar just because of the higher molasses content.

It’s the way this particular product is made that causes this. I like my dark brown sugar soft and fine and have enjoyed some wonderful dark brown sugars from other companies, but I personally hate this one.

If you like this type of texture, then you’ll enjoy it, but I didn’t. Depending on how you want to use it, the texture might be an asset, but not the way I use it. Even worse, when I got to the bottom of the bag, there were a lot of white sugar crystals that were not even mixed with the molasses.

Maybe I just got a bad bag, but this is not acceptable and indicates poor quality and inferior formulation of the product, in my opinion. The flavor is fine, although I’ve had better, but the other aspects of the product were too off-putting for me to enjoy it.

I have been using the New Roots brand of Stevia for the past 5 years after trying out many other stevia sweeteners and love the natural taste and sweet mouth feel that it provides. The powdered form is easy to use without over-sweetening, as was my problem with the liquid forms, and has no after taste that people tend to detect.

I have tried to wean myself off of real sugar/artificial sugars and rely on New Roots Stevia for a delicious level of guilt-free sweetness in my tea, plain yogurt, and some baking. I highly recommend!.

I was interested by the ads that said “tastes like sugar because it’s made from sugar cane”. Ha! The #1 ingredient is erythritol not sugar cane. When I finally got the product in hand, I anxiously tried it.

I put in one packet in my coffee mug. Nope, not sweet to my liking, so I added a 2nd packet. Nope, still not sweet enough to my liking. I put about 4 drops of liquid stevia and still not sweet enough.

I then added a teaspoon of real sugar and it almost was sweet to my liking. Coffee tasted off, not good. My usual mug of coffee tastes sweet when I put 1 1/3 packets of Splenda or 1 packet of Splenda and 5 drops of Stevia or about 2 teaspoons of sugar.

Given the price of purecane, I’d likely have to put in 3 packets per coffee mug (12 oz) and not have a sweetness that tastes like sugar. So… overpriced, weak sweetness that doesn’t taste like sugar. Where’s the advantage? I asked for my money back and got it (minus the shipping).

Sorry to be so disappointed. I was really hoping it would live up to their claims.

I bought the packets since they are convenient and easy to use. I put them in the drawer under where the coffee maker is – and there are 2 choices, Splenda and Pure Cane. Once the packets start going down, we’ll see what the favorite is.

My husband like the packets – they are bright and colorful, a little eye treat first thing in the morning (he gets up at 4 to get ready and go to work) if there’s a little sweet treat in the fridge – BONUS! Made a Mascarpone Cheesecake with the bulk granulated.

YUM! Our favorite (I have made every imaginable over the years) is Coffee Cheesecake with Gingersnap Crust – couldn’t wait to try the new sugar in my cheesecake. Also the mascarpone is a new addition, it and the new sugar sub really amped my cake up.

When you think about it coffee and cheesecake are a no-brainer flavor, like having your morning cup of Joe as a dessert! Wish you could taste it!.

Purecane in packets has been the best sugar substitute I’ve tried. You can tell the difference between Purecane and table sugar if you try them in a side by side comparison as I did, but the difference is minor.

Purecane, for me, is far safer and healthier than table sugar or HFCS, sucralose, aspartame, and saccharin etc. It doesn’t have the bitter, chemical-ish or cooling aftertaste that some other substitutes do and works well in my keto coffee, tea, homemade ice cream, brownies, and candy.

My husband and I had no unpleasant GI effects. I also use allulose, monk fruit, stevia, xylitol, and kabocha, and will continue to do so, but they are more expensive, have an aftertaste, are less versatile, or not as easy to find.

Purecane will be the primary sweetener in my pantry now. Overall, it has the best flavor profile and, although slightly more expensive than sucralose, aspartame and a few other types of erythritol, I believe it is also safer and healthier for long term or frequent use.

I just opened my first bag. The product was clumping , large crystals. Does not pour out of my sugar dispenser. Even after putting 4 Heaping teaspoons my coffee tasted as if I had not put in any sweetener.

I was hopeful this could be a replacement for the PYURE all purpous stevia blend sams club used to carry. It takes 5 packets of truvia to barely equal the sweetness of 2 teaspoons of the puyre. It flowed from the sugar container with ease.

The product is/ was the best. I bought all I could when they put it on clearance and have now run out. I will be returning the erthritol. If it was a matter of price increase you could double the amount of the 40 oz /puyre price and it would equal the cost of 2 of the 3lb erythitol.

I have to return this product.

This is a repeat purchase for me. I find this product consistently high quality corn-free product with a pleasant taste. I usually powder it in a coffee grinder with some good stevia extract to make a sweeter blend.

Powdering it also lets it incorporate into things easier as it doesn’t need to dissolve. I would love to be able to purchase it already powdered. It is a great value in this quantity.

This is the best sucralose you can find on the internet. I ordered it many times and it’s always consistent in taste and also in quantity. I don’t know why but the price for the 250 grams almost double since November 2021.

Also, the shipping cost is very expensive if you live outside the USA. I have to find an alternative product who cost less with affordable price and shipping rate because I can’t afford it anymore sadly.

I purchased 5 bags which were all processed poorly and therefore could not be used. I was given store credit, however the size was then out of stock for over 6 months. When it finally became available again, the price had inflated by 1.

5 X’s. I explained to BS that it would be fair to replace the 5 bags I originally bought, but they declined. On top of that, they charged me taxes on the first order as well as the second order.

When it comes to a sugar substitute, I knew I wanted something more natural than Splenda, sweetnlow, or equal. Since truvia is made from stevia, you can’t get more natural than that! Of course, sugar is from a plant to, but when it comes to being better for you, this one wins.

It doesn’t have a horrible aftertaste (I add it in my coffee), and I don’t need to add too much to get the same sweetness. I absolutely love this sugar alternative!.

Taste great and it’s actually sweeter than sugar which I have now cut my usage of sweeteners in half. I was highly impressed with the flavor it’s great in coffee and tea. Especially in a lemon tea ,I have not yet tried it in baking but I can not wait to see how much I cut back in my recipes for my cookies and cakes.

I definitely recommend that if you are looking to cut back on sugar or artificial sweeteners this is it give it a try.

I use Truvia in my coffee every day and have for over a year at this point. Tastes great and doesn’t add all that sugar. That said, the pricing on this stuff just continues to baffle me. These jars are much easier to use for someone like me that makes up a big thermos of coffee in the morning and add all the sugar and cream at once.

A lot faster than manually opening and emptying 12 packs at a time. But for whatever reason, these jars cost about twice as much per ounce as the packets. I would think it would be less because of the substantial amount of paper there is in 200-400 packets.

Oh well. It’s good stuff, I’ll keep buying it in this format for convenience, just annoying that it isn’t the same price as the packets.

I received these products for free from [brand:splenda-62] and Influester in exchange for my honest review. I don’t have a “sweet tooth” for candies or pastries. But, I do like a little sweetness in my cups of tea and coffee.

[brand:splenda-62] is the perfect option. I only need about a third of the packet and my drinks are better than a coffee shop! For the holidays, I loved my coffee with a splash of oat milk, a dash of vanilla extract, [brand:splenda-62], whipped cream, and a sprinkle of cinnamon or nutmeg.

I received some packs of Splenda for free to try out and write my honest opinion. I have avoided sweeteners for the past 25 years after discovering that aspartame based sweeteners cause me to vomit. As a result I tend to notice the taste of sweeteners whenever I accidentally eat or drink anything that contains them.

With more and more products switching from sugar to sweeteners I needed to find out if there were any that my body could tolerate. I was really pleased to find that not only did Splenda not make me unwell but that I also was unable to notice the difference in coffee.

I have also tried baking with Splenda instead of sugar with good results (you can dissolve the tablets in any milk or water that the recipe includes). I shared the sample packs with friends and family and they almost all reported that they also didn’t notice any aftertaste or chemical tang when using them – only one person out of about 15 that tasted Splenda was able to tell the difference.

The sweeteners themselves are tiny, about 2mm diameter so even a packet of 100 is very small and convenient to take with me when out and about. I haven’t exactly made a permanent switch from sugar to Splenda but I have been using them regularly as an alternative, especially when travelling, so that I can reduce my sugar intake without resorting to drinking only water or fruit juice.

I keep Splenda Sweetener packets year round. I make my ice tea, lemonade and add to my coffee all with Splenda. I have found it to be a great processed sugar alternative without a chemical taste or an after taste.

I picked up the 50ct box because it was cheaper than the other splenda ones on the shelf. I found it to be a great price for the amount I got. I have used it to make my pop corn sweet and used it in cooking and baking.
