A slow speed bench grinder is a type of grinding machine that is used to sharpen tools and other objects. The speed of the grinder is much slower than that of other types of grinders, such as angle grinders, which makes it ideal for sharpening.
Fitted with copper wound induction motor drive. Suitable for general workshop grinding and sharpening use. Two aluminous oxide grinding stones, coarse and fine. Fitted with stone guards, adjustable eye shields and spark arrestors.
Id purchased a cheaper grinder and wasted my money. For the little bit extra this grinder is perfect. Quiet, little to no vibration and does not slow when pressure applied to grinding wheels. Just wish Id purchased this in the first place.
Bought it for polishing work on my motorcycles. Build quality is excellent. It’s strong enough for polishing work and has the added benefit of being much quieter than all my other bench grinders. Definitely worth it.

The cast iron base and sturdy body reduce vibration to give the smooth operation that is essential for successful and accurate sharpening. Rubber feet also dampen vibration whilst ensuring the grinder does not move during use.
The wide body of the machine further increases stability and minimizes the load on the bearings for increased life. The 1-1/2inch white stone is ideal for giving a fine finish, particularly to HSS turning tools.
In addition, the spark guard of the white wheel features a magnifying lens to aid fine sharpening. The build quality and reliability of this grinder are significantly higher than some of the more common and cheaper grinders.

It’s great to receive a product and right off the bat during unpacking you know it was made with high quality in mind. There are a few things that I felt could have been better but for the most part I am happy with my purchase.
I added a variable jig along with this purchase so a lot of the accessories that came with this grinder were unnecessary for me. And to be fair except for the foot pads I don’t see the use for most of the other stuff that came with it.
The wheels aren’t very good either as they are the typical oxide variety that seems to be on all of these grinders on Bucktool. So I went ahead and bought a hurricane grinding wheel to go along with it and besides some difficulty getting it mounted (the tolerance on the hurricane grinding wheel is extremely small so make sure you lube up the spindle and clear it of any kind of debris) it spins perfectly.
There is no wobble that I can detect. it has sufficient power and it never seemed to slow down during any kind of grinding that I threw at it. The light on it is kind of pointless though but it does its job well enough.
Honestly I kind of wish that they just got rid of all the accessories, the light, and the wheels and just sold it as a base grinder at a cheaper price and it would have been an awesome buy then. I know that doesn’t make sense probably for some people but considering I didn’t put on most of the accessories because of the variable grinder accessories I purchased and the new wheels I bought I now have a bunch of pieces just lying around.
I think you would be fine buying this and will not have any issues installing different wheels on it if you choose to do so. It’s a great grinder, well built, heavy duty, and I feel it will last me a long time.
This grinder is good quality at a low price. Bucktool did their homework in finding a quality Chinese manufacturer who will support their product. One of the knobs had a bad thread, and the manufacturer mailed me a replacement in an acceptable time frame.
All features were as advertised. I would enjoy seeing Bucktool offer replacement and modification parts like Grizzly and Little Machine Shop; however, I understand that this would be a daunting addition for a small vendor.
For shops that may be short on space, a cast iron JET bench grinder delivers work power and pristine finishes. Built to withstand the high volume demands of even the busiest shops, this high quality machine grinds, sharpens and smooths with equal precision and flawless results.
I bought this grinder (IBG-8) in August and have used it, total grinding time, less than 45 minutes. Using it to thin down a small open-end wrench yesterday, the grinder make a loud pop and spewed out foul-smelling smoke (not the common electrical smell).
I turned the grinder on for a few seconds a while later–it ran without smoke, but I didn’t grind with it to check its power. I will investigate further today to see if I can learn more. At this point, I couldn’t recommend this grinder.
And I don’t know what the remedy will be. On the positive side, it’s getting more difficult to find grinders of reasonable price that have ball bearings, as this one does. And the quality otherwise seems to be good.
Finally a bench grinder that is powerful enough to handle my needs. Chose the Jet JBG-8B Grinder with no regrets. Grinder was double boxed with excellent packing. Fast and easy to put together. Tools Plus had the grinder at a great price with fast free shipping and made the purchase smooth and effortless.
Strong cast-aluminium body houses a long-life 150W induction motor with sealed bearings. Bolt holes and rubber mounting feet for bench mounting. Dust-protected switch. Ideal for light to medium duty grinding tasks on metal work pieces, such as sharpening drill bits and cutting/shaping tools, and preparing metals for welding.
Essential tool for any workshop or garage. Includes 2 all-steel, adjustable tool rests, large eye shields, spark arrestors and wheel gu.
After having received the order, I started to put the bench together, when a part of the base which is meant to attach to the table broke. I was forced to improvise with a thick washer to solve the problem.
The 2nd issue appeared after it was solidly attached, during the first test. After 10 minutes the bench grinder started to vibrate all over the place. I stopped everything and noticed that the motor, which is fixed to the base, moves around a lot.
I therefore take apart the entire bench grinder to try and removed the plastic protection that is underneath it and I discovered that there is one of the screws meant to hold the motor to the base is missing.
What’s more, the 3 others were only loosely tightened. Thank goodness I have a second, 600W, professional grade bench grinder, although I have wanted a smaller model for years, to accomplish a specific task, which doesn’t require a lot of power.
I can absolutely say that this product is not worth it. It is of totally mediocre quality and should be avoided at all costs.
To begin with this product represents good value for your money it is powerful enough to handle most DIY jobs and the quality and finish is again more than you would expect for what you pay. I would certainly recommend it to a friend who is interested in doing a bit of DIY which is what I do if someone is wanting to carry out a great deal of grinding and polishing they may need a bigger piece of equipment.
Amazing price but ultimately you get what you pay for. Not sure if the wheels are skewed or if the shafts aren’t balanced but the grinding wheels wobble slightly from side to side. Fine for hobby or limited use in the garage though.
I had purchased the Wen 6” bench grinder, found that the motor was too weak as returned it. I spent a little more and bought this DeWalt. Wow. What an improvement! Having just had two units to compare days apart I can assure you that is a _much_ better value and much higher quality machine.
As you can see from my pictures, it isn’t perfect. At the top of the wheel housing you attach the spark shield. On the left side I have a polishing wheel attached and have on the outer housing cover.
When this is attached the bracket for the spark shield can’t sit flush against the housing. In the other photo I have a DeWalt wire wheel mounted. Even though the 1/2” wheel technically fits, it was rubbing on the outer housing cover.
I didn’t want to scrape off the paint and have a problem with rust down the road so I left the outer cover off. With the cover off you can see that the spark shield’s bracket mounts flush. But these are minor quibbles.
The tool rests, stamping thickness, on/off switch quality are far better than the Wen. And the motor power is night and day (that is actually an _understatement_. ) Highly recommended!!!.
Quality built grinder and comes with two different grit stones. I was happy to find this at a Tractor Supply store. The on/off switch seems robust and it was easy to put together. After using for a few weeks I am satisfied with it’s performance with one caveat.
No light. A work light would really be a plus for a grinder as you are always looking at what you’re grinding to see how effective it is.
Ok, the Dewalt Fan Boys won’t like this review. Everything that I’ve owned made be Dewalt is 2nd rate compared to Hitachi, Bosch, Makita, & Milwaukee. This bench grinder is no different. My title should have been “Wobble Wobble”.
Or, “Engineered Frustration”. Or, “Can the Cord be any Cheaper?”. The Good: this unit has enough horsepower for most DIY applications. The Bad: typical Dewalt lack of refinement. My unit wobbles to the point that the unit walks while on the table.
Yes, it should be bolted down. But the vibration from the wobble is annoying (yes, I tried rotating the wheels for a better alignment). The end caps are a safety feature. However, the stripped screws coupled by the tedious task of end-cap removal to switch out accessory wheels is a royal PIA.
And Dewalt’s engineering staff must be proud of that POS cord that is supplied with the unit. It’s like a ball of stiff plastic yarn. I simply don’t like this unit even though I plan to keep it.
For shops that may be short on space, a cast iron JET Bench Grinder with Wire Wheel delivers work power and dual options in polishing, deburring, edge blending, finishing and more all on one machine.
Built to withstand the high-volume demands of even the busiest shops, this high-quality machine grinds, sharpens and smooths with equal precision for flawless results. Cast Iron wheel guards dust chutes.
Rubber mounts prevents movement. Totally enclosed pre-lubricated ball bearings. UL Listed. Large eye shileds with quick adjustment. Vitrified aluminum oxide grinding wheel included. Crimped Wire wheel included.
Size is rather compact which I like and the tool rests are cast iron which is good. Visibility is good and I was kind of surprised at how sturdy the tool rests and the plexiglass guards were. The bad parts were the tool rests were a rough casting and I had to run the actual flat rest part on a sander and then diamond plate to flatten and smooth it out.
It took a little time which indicated a strong casting which is a good thing but c’mon guys, can’t this be done during manufacturing? Then the worst thing was the left wheel guard looked like someone banged into it when it was being cast so it had the entire corner actually missing and what appeared to be a “repair” to the mold! I used JB Weld and filed it to look like it was never damaged after spraying with black wrinkle paint.
All of this took about two hours altogether and now you can’t tell where it was damaged. All in all I like the grinder because it has plenty of power and doesn’t bog down like some of the lower priced models.
But the additional work I had to do takes stars off of its score. It sure would be nice if America could get its act together and produce quality products that worked well and lasted. This foreign supply chain we are on has got to stop.

This item was manufactured by a company with a stellar reputation for their highest quality and value of the tools they sell. However, this product is not what I would consider to be one of their better efforts! It does seem to be very durable, but the quality control is not what I have come to expect from DeWalt! My old bench grinder came up to full speed within 1.
5 seconds, and this one takes about 3 times longer. It also vibrates and shakes badly for the price I paid. If I had this to do over again, I would not purchase a DeWalt bench grinder!.
I purchased this grinder to replace a grinder that is 40 years old and finally died. This grinder vibrates so bad you cannot keep the eye shields from vibrating down into the grinding wheel. The stones run true with no wobble or out of round.
I removed the course stone on the right side and the grinder is smooth with just the left stone on the grinder. I assume the problem is with the balance of the stone. I will have to contact the retailer for warranty.
I have every 20 volt DeWalt tool known to man with no problems.
Just bought this bench grinder last week. First thing after mounting turned it in and the vibration shook paint can off the shelf beside the grinder also missing one star washer. The other problem is the left tool right side is setting almost on the grinding wheel itself.
I had to use two small washers behind the mount to make room for the wheel. This is not what I expected from Dewalt. T took some measurements and the left grinding wheel is sitting. 125 closer to the motor that the right side.
If Dewalt can repair this bench grinder I would give it 5 stars.
Sunex’s 6-inch bench grinder comes standard with a bright flexible work light. Two separate six-inch grit wheels are included: a coarse 36 and a medium 60 and each wheel has a protective spark guard and an adjustable eye shield for maximum safety.
Mounting holes and rubber feet allow for stability whether the grinder is mounted or free-standing.
This is a rock solid bench grinder. The construction is well done, the paint and finish are very good. The on/off switch has a nice feel to it The light stem and socket are typical. The grinding wheels are adequate (and well balanced), I have changed one out and replaced it with a United Abrasives/SAIT 100 grit wheel, per my needs.
The wheel shrouds are not cast, but are still well constructed. The unit seems to have plenty of power, it spools up quickly, runs with little or no vibration. My previous grinder (a Sears buy), I had bolted to my bench; I was eager to try this bad boy out and placed the grinder on my bench just on its 4 cushioned grips/pads.
I proceeded to grind some angle iron without the grinder moving or vibrating all over the bench, it is heavy and stable enough to operate without bolting it to Terra firma, yet today it remains without the tie-downs.
Unless your grinding the edge of a 4 foot piece of 6″ I-beam, I doubt you would need to permanently bolt down this grinder. A best buy, recommended! Update: Grinder is doing well. I did finally bolt the grinder to my work bench; my son, grandson and others come over and use it, thought it best to secure it in one place.
I think there is actually some formal regulations on shop safety that specifies it needs to be bolted.
Its a good value for the money and seems reasonably sturdy, but it is certainly not a high quality, precision crafted stand. I would certainly recommend it for an average shop. Be aware that the packaging is not sufficiently durable to withstand any rough handling.
I checked out several bench grinders including the top brand names. I’m glad I chose this one. Much more powerful than any other in this size. Look at The Amp ratings. It draws at least one full amp more than any other brand.
Plus you can tell by looking at the diameter of the motors. The motor on this one’s just as big around as the wheels. The other brands are typically about 2 inches smaller in diameter. Plus this one weighs about 9 pounds more than all the other brands.
