18 Best Sleep Apnea Chin Strap (2023 Updated)

I have purchased several of this type of chin strap. This is the only one I have ever used that actually works. The design is perfect. I like to take a nap in my reclining chair. My mouth opens and my throat gets really dry.

This can trigger a number of unpleasant problems. Anyway, this chin strap keeps my mouth shut, fits perfectly and is quite comfortable. What more can you ask for?.

I really like the chin strap, however I did have to cut it down and I added some sweatshirt fabric where my chin goes as it was rubbing too much. It is soo much better than the chin strap that I was using.

I appreciate how quickly it arrived.

I’m glad I bought this, I am a mouth breather. This little mechanism keeps my mouth shut so everything isn’t dried out by morning. Great buy!

I have had very severe sleep apnea since 1996 and treated with a cpap and a full face mask. While the system treats my sleep apnea perfectly, I have always had difficulty with my mouth dropping open causing small air leaks which make noises that wake me.

When I purchase a new mask seal it is soft enough to take care of this problem, for about a week! I purchased this XL chin strap which solved that problem, permanently. It’s easy to use, I can put it on by myself, and there’s no discomfort.

I did have to trim my beard closer, but no problem with that. 10 star!.

This product is thicker than previous ones we tried and has worked better. The thicker material tends to last longer and keep the mouth closed better. That being said, though, it would help if they lasted longer than they do.

I’m sure part of the reason for needing frequent replacements is the sweating factor, especially for those who are heavy (as is the case with many folks who have sleep apnea). It’s a good value for the price compared to those in medical supply places.

For folks without insurance or for those whose insurance does not replace this piece of equipment often enough, this is very helpful. I would reorder again as needed.

It’s helping my father with his dry mouth condition by keeping his jaw closed while sleeping. None of his MD’s suggestions worked until we bought this chin strap! I drew marks on the red surfaces for the most comfortable strap position.

Now dad doesn’t worry about undoing the straps because he can put them back in the right place. Suggestion: It could use an indicator to point out the top and back.

The “around-the-head” design is a good idea. The chin strap does work. However, it is made of a material that causes an uncomfortable irritation under the jaws because the stretchy material is coarse, and not soft enough.

It is not something I could have known from the pictures. This item also does not completely prevent the escape of air from the lips while using the CPAP machine. If it is an option,. I would recommend trying on a chin strap before buying.

In this case it was not an option. In the event that there are no other more viable options, I would recommend this as a last resort. Also, I bought the one recommended for my head size, and it is a little small.

Next time I would go with the XXL.

Bought a few others and they do work, but this one is the one this old man has set his mind on. It fits comfortably and keeps this mouth shut all night long. The wife likes that part! I also wear the CPap stuff, and this strap works well with it.

Too. in the morning you dont have that imprint of straps embedded in your checks for an hour or so. My monies on this one!.

They have only one size. Large. But I cut off the excess. Works great. Much better than others that slip out of position during the night. I had another that Ive had for years so I bought a new one here.

They are excellent and I ordered another one yesterday so Im using one while laundering the other one.

I have used the Ruby chinstrap before. This one is more comfortable (after I wrapped some t-shirt material around the chin part), doesn’t stretch as much/easily, and can be adjusted tighter than the Ruby.

It does still stretch some, but mostly just the first few days/weeks then stays pretty stable. I cut off an old piece of Velcro strap and put it on the slotted strap area, on the other end of the rear strap loop, to keep the slotted section from splitting too far apart (the slotted section is too long, for a lot of adjustment).

Needs a cushion material between the chin portion and your chin, or the seam in the middle will irritate your chin (and leave a long red mark). I cut up squares of a clean old cotton t-shirt (quadruple layers) and that works perfectly for me and easier to clean than the headband – just throw in the washer.

This way you need to only wash the headband itself once in about every few months (without sweat). Also I was told by the CPAP pro that the Ruby pulls backward on the chin and that’s bad for sleep therapy.

This one just pulls upward and she recommended it.

Have used nasal pillows for over 10 years, but my wife complained about snoring, so I ordered the full mask. I tried it for 7 nights, with multiple adjustments. I suspect because I’m a side sleeper the mask would leak when I turned and the pressure would just to 15-16 and I would awake to loud leaking.

I ordered some new nasal pillows today and returning the mask.

I’ve tried several models of chin strap and was always annoyed by the marks they left on my face. Once I adjusted both straps correctly according to the instructions, it’s very comfortable and doesn’t leave my face looking like a road map in the morning.

There is still a slight line since I’m a side sleeper, but barely noticeable compared with my ruby chin strap that this replaced. And the chin cup is nice – big, comfortable, and light. It also stays put all night.

I use the AirFit P10 mask, so I put my mask on after the chin strip which I think works better for this mask. Overall I highly recommend trying this chin strap.

The chinstrap is much lower quality than the original Halo from Breatheware. I was hoping the OEM was just overcharging since they were the original, but this one is really just not as good. Much thinner material both width and thickness, feels more “delicate”.

I’m scared to tighten it too much for fear it may rip out one of the sides. It’s not a scam or fraud or anything, you get exactly what you order, it’s just that I wish I had paid a little more and gotten the good one instead of gambling on this.

This chin strap feels light weight which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. I don’t know how well it will hold up. It may be made very well, but I’ll wait and see. My only complaint at this time is that it is not very comfortable.

It rests right on the edge of my ears to be able to stay on my chin. I would prefer it to cup the chin because it feels like it will just slide off while you sleep.

Solved my problems of my mouth coming open in the night. I never received the head craddle with mine, only the lower chin strap, but have it attached to my headgear.

This product is borderline useless for me, and would probably fail over time. I’ll order something else and throw this one away. I doubt that whatever I choose next could possibly be worse than this.

Details:1) It’s too short. I’m not huge, nor is my head, but I have to really stretch this thing to make the velcro pads meet. 2) It’s too wide. It reaches from near my adam’s apple to my chin. The upward pressure on my throat makes my obstructive apnea way worse.

If I move it forward, it wraps around my chin, interfering with my mask. The only way that I can use it is to fold it in half or thirds under my chin. 3) The two provided auxiliary straps aren’t long enough.

Again. my head is not overly large, but I really have to stretch the small bands to make them reach; then they put a lot of pressure on my head. 4) The ‘hook part’ of the velcro is really strong! Consequentially it begins to shred whatever it hooks onto.

5) The ‘aggressive’ velcro hooks really like to attach to the fabric of my mask’s headgear. That’s not just a nuisance; it begins to shred the headgear.

this is the only chin strap I found to work for me. Yes, I did order the smaller size because all others were too big. Yes, it can become uncomfortable. Depending how much I move around. It presses on the lower ears and causes a little bit of painful area.

I found that I have to adjust my cpap full face mask due to leaking to accommodate the added thickness of this one compared to others. However, the others didn’t work and this does!!.

The strap does well to keep the mouth shut all night. It stays in place throughout. Be sure not to pull too tight as it is not necessary and will reduce bed head marks. I have to be sure to locate far enough forward to not put pressure on my ears.

Otherwise they will hurt a bit in the morning. I have small ears. So someone with bigger ears will have to take even more care.

I’m happy I finally found a strap that keeps my mouth closed and does not give me headaches! I am prone to headaches if I have a strap around the lower back side of my head but the strap on this model is up much higher so it doesn’t cause headaches.

I also like that the tightness is easily adjustable. My mouth really likes to pop open during the night so it takes a pretty firm strap to keep it closed and this one is tight enough without being uncomfortable.

I’ve read some other reviews that complained about how it irritates your your ears, but I’ve discovered I can slide it far enough forward that it doesn’t touch my ears at all and yet stays firmly in place.

I’ve only had it for about 2 weeks so I can’t speak to its long term durability, but I’m very happy with this strap and can honestly say I’m sleeping better because of it. I should also mention that I use the nasal pillows style of CPAP mask so I can’t say for certain how well this strap would work with other masks.

I have been unable to adjust this in a way that keeps my lower jaw from moving backward. It does permit a wide range of tension and is easy to adjust in small increments while lying down. It is fairly comfortable.

Though it is fairly thin, you will notice that your mask is a tighter fit when you wear this. I will keep trying this in hopes it will help solve my high leaks and AHI.

I was hoping that this product would be at least decent since it is from Respironics. It is worthless. The quality is abysmal. It does not work at all like the picture shows. It mounts to the straps of your mask and will not stay connected.

It is such a piece of trash I threw it away after the first night.

this is the only chin strap that works for me. i have tried many others but none are as helpful as this one. unfortunately, my cpap supplier, lincare does not carry this model.

straps to small not what i wanted compared to the nomber from my old one

Been using this three years. The small retainer strap that keeps it in place is crucial. The strap itself is too wide. Look at the picture: that wide strap under my jaw feels like it’s choking me. So once I got the strap tension perfect, I folded it in half and put a few stitches in to keep it there.

It works perfectly. If it was designed so the wide part was on my head, and the narrow part was on my chin, I would give this a 5 rating. But I am going to buy another one so I always have one ready to go.

Im new to CPAP use, and I am also a mouth breather, so for those of you out there who have this same problem, a chin strap is needed to keep your mouth shut so your nasal CPAP can work properly. After searching the internet at some of the bigger named companies, and purchasing several different styles of chin straps, I had no luck finding a chin strap that actually worked until I found this one on CPAP exchange.

I was surprised that the straps didn’t have the same Velcro loop attachment surface for the adjustments as the headband. Rather than attaching directly to the headband fabric over time it looks like connecting and reconnecting will rough it up a lot.

One strap can remain stationary but the other must be pulled loose each time. It was successful in keeping the mouth closed.

I cringe when it’s time to buy more chinstraps, because there are so many poor quality ones. I had accidentally bought 5 more expensive chinstraps last time, and been very very frustrated. Chinstraps are expensive – you don’t want them worn out after 2 weeks.

This chinstrap is “the real deal”.

This product changed my nights and mornings! My husband has always told me that I usually snore. I thought it wasnt that bad until a few days ago, he had an important meeting at work and he was tired and in a really bad mood because he couldnt sleep because of my snoring.

Then, I decided to try something and I found this product. At the beginning, I didnt know if I would be comfortable sleeping whit something in my head but, after a minute, i completely forget about the headband.

Highly recommendable.

I have always found it difficult to breathe through my nose. I went to the clinic at the hospital and was given a machine with a mask to wear at night. But that machine produces a loudly noise So I have tried some serious solutions to my snoring and order this Anti Snore Chin Strap.

I can now report that this device works better than the machine from the clinic and the nose plugs also work.

Fitting can be tricky as there are no instructions, so trial and error is needed to find the best position. Chin strap must be fairly tight so it stretches out over a couple months and I’ve found I need a new one by then.

It is a good solution if the tucked position of your chin causes your snoring, as the strap can help keep your chin and neck extended over night.

At a price of nearly $30 I have found this to be not a very good value. The materials are not of great quality and I have found that the straps are a bit slippery, which causes it to slip forward on my head and limit its effectiveness.

I keep looking for the ideal chin strap to wear with my CPAP mask, and, unfortunately, I have not found it in this one.

Tried a lot of different style chinstraps for working with my CPAP mask, and most go over the point of your head and are thick and interfere with the mask’s placement or mask’s straps. This is a great chinstrap.

It’s lightweight (I don’t know how long it will last), easily slips on and off, and the straps are really thin, so thin my Dreamwear mask can slip over it and not interfere.

I’ve tried other straps and this one is comfortable, stays put better and I might have less breakage to my hair. I don’t use the two velcro pieces and still works good.

Unlike other chin straps this one holds my chin securely, but gently, in place. The extra straps ensure it does not slip forward on my head.

This chinstrap costs quite a bit more than others. However the quality is good. The design is much better with the a strap going over the top of the head and another at the back of the head keeps the strap from sliding off during the night.

Both straps are adjustable which makes for a comfortable fit but may require more than one adjustment to get it right. Tthe picture is very representative of the product.

I use this brand of strap so I got one for my husband he likes it also. Not sure what size it is it said large-xl? My husband wears a large motorcycle helmet but this strap is way too big. I had to cut it and add velcro to make it smaller by about 3 inches.

Next time I will just try a large only.

Pretty good chin strap for the price. I bought two. One for each of my sons who are very different in size but it fit them each well. I do wish it had a gel insert as well for added comfort. I’ve seen others like this but didn’t see the option in this price range.

It’s a decent chin guard. Even though it’s pretty good my youngest said it was rubbing a bit on his chin last game and his chin did have a sore spot where friction occurred. Seems like it slips a bit when it gets wet with water or sweat.

Overall they still like it more than the standard leather ones.

This item should not even be on the market. I bought this for my son who plays 8u football. Just after a few practices the button snapped on the top left. thinking it might of just been the way it was hit i went back and got 2 more just to be safe if one was to break during a game.

I now have 3 of these with all the same button snapped off of them. You would thin k it would be better quality with the name Under Armour on it.

My son’s team is royal blue. I thought I was buying a royal blue chin strap. It’s is basically purple. If I showed a pic of this one with an Adams royal blue chin strap, it would solidify your purchase.

The Respironics Premium Chin Strap has been the only solution I’ve found to keep my mouth closed while sleeping! I started using the chin strap in May of 2021 and have been using it for 3 months now.

I just now need to buy a replacement due to it stretching out. The chin strap is comfortable and kind of feels nice hugging my head all night long. It fits well under my headgear. I like that the strap has the additional strap around the back of my head so that it doesn’t just slide forward and loosen during the night.

First I’d like to say I thought this product would be satisfactory based other reviews of the Philips Respironics Premium Chin Restraint. I was definitely mistaken, it’s not easy to adjust (don’t even think about trying to adjust while wearing it) and there is a second strap that’s attached with Velcro that goes around the back of your head, it’s a nuisance to work with and makes the mask even more difficult to use.

The strap will keep your mouth shut if it stays in place during sleep though more often than not you’ll awake to find it has come loose. After a week I haven’t worn it again. My advice is to look at single strap options that have cutouts for your ears.

I understand sizing can be a little trickier with these but stay away from these adjustable straps especially the one noted in this review. For those of you that it works for. Straps off to you then :).

This chin strap is a huge disappointment. I purchased this product thinking I could trust the Respironics brand name. The materials are cheap, the stitching is inadequate and the adjustable (rear) support strap is worthless.

I found a much more durable chin strap (Dwelling With Pride) on Amazon for half the price. I’m throwing the Respironics strap in the trash.
