Acne and oily skin can be difficult to manage. Often, people with these skin types will find that their skin is shiny, greasy, and prone to breakouts. While there are a number of over-the-counter products that can help to control these issues, it is important to take a holistic approach to skincare.
This means using products that will not only help to control oil and acne, but that will also help to nourish and protect the skin.
Some tips for skincare for acne and oily skin include:
-Wash your face twice a day with a gentle cleanser. Avoid using harsh cleansers that can strip the skin of its natural oils.
-Exfoliate regularly. This will help to remove dead skin cells that can clog pores and lead to breakouts.
-Use a light, oil-free moisturizer. Moisturizing is important for all skin types, but it is especially important for people with oily skin. This will help to control excess oil production.
-Use a non-comedogenic sunscreen. This type of sunscreen will not clog pores.
-Be gentle with your skin. Avoid scrubbing or picking at your skin. This can cause irritation and lead to breakouts.

With Oil-absorbing purifying clay to help reduce clogged pores and Niacinamide to helps soothe skin Ceramides are found naturally in the skin and make up 50%25 of the lipids in the skin barrier. All CeraVe products are formulated with three essential ceramides (1, 3, 6-II) to help restore and maintain the skin’s natural barrier.
I use this twice a day, morning and evening. I have sensitive skin, and it doesn’t irritate my face or dry it out at all. My face actually feels softer after I use it. I’ve never had a cleanser do that for me before.
I think CeraVe is just a great brand over all. I like that they focus on creating products that strengthen your skin’s protective barrier and that hydrate it. That protects you against free radical damage, not aging well, all kinds of stuff.
I’ve never been disappointed in any of their products that I’ve tried. I’ve read in many skincare articles that it’s important to have salicylic acid as part of your routine because of its exfoliating ability.
I’m an acne sufferer, so I make sure I take advantage of it. I’ve compiled a great regimen for myself. In the morning, I use this cleanser, then The Ordinary’s niacinamide and zinc serum, followed by CeraVe’s daily moisturizer.
At night, I use this cleanser again, followed by that same moisturizer and then Good Molecules backuchiol oil blend for oily skin and Good Molecules rosehip seed oil. Those products together have reduced my acne drastically.
I’m making this cleanser a permanent part of my skincare routine.
I’ve used the SA cleanser, the hydrating cleanser, and the cream to foam cleanser from CeraVe and this is by far my favorite. For some reason the SA and cream to foam cleanser irritated my skin quite a bit and the hydrating cleanser made me feel like my face wasn’t all that clean and fresh.
This has been the perfect in between. I don’t get a lot of acne but do break out every once in a while and this cleanser definitely helps prevent that. I still get the occasional pimple but they’re tiny and don’t last long.
I have sensitive skin mostly on my cheeks and this cleanser does not cause more redness and irritation for me. I actually don’t even cleanse twice a day with this normally. I shower at night and cleanse and follow up with the CeraVe moisturizing lotion and my skin holds up well throughout the next day even in the more oily areas of my face.
Went through a time period with this cleanser where it was extremely hard to find but haven’t had issues finding it since then thankfully.
I have dry skin with large pores. I know, I’m an enigma. Now that I’m in my thirties I don’t get acne blemishes, but blackheads are the bane of my existence. I’ve found that the cleansers engineered to combat blackheads are too harsh on my delicate skin, making my skin peel.
However, I also have my 19-year-old brother staying with me and he loves to use my expensive, elite brand face wash so I wanted something that would help my skin, his skin, and not break the bank and we found it in this product.
So far, my skin has been clear with no dry patches. It’s so moisturizing it’s as if you don’t NEED a moisturizer. I said almost. ALWAYS MOISTURIZE. For an extra oomph for my greasy teenaged bro, we add dermalogica’s micro exfoliant and I’ll use the micro-exfoliant once or twice a week after a hard work out.
Something used by the whole family while staying in budget. Love.

This was my go to for quite some time. The charcoal works so well to clear up any acne or pimples and to prevent them. It’s not harsh or over drying. My skin is on the sensitive side and can get dried out rally easily.
The bottle and pump is one kid those small but great features that often gets overlooked. It cuts out this little bit of time and frustration that may have made you reach your limit. Just a simple little minor thing that helps start your day off on the right foot.
Like I said it was my go to for several years and the only face wash I really sized. The only reason I switched was because pregnancy and baby completely changed my skin type as well as the products that it likes.
I want to start off by saying that I do not have sensitive skin. With that said, I think this is a great product for oily and acne prone skin. I did not see immediate results but I did notice improvement on my skin after a few days (approx.
4-5 days) with less blemishes and any acne that was starting to form, got gradually smaller. The product does have a minty feel to it, from reading the ingredients it mentions that it has menthol. I could see this being irritating to those that have sensitive skin, but since I don’t, I personally loved the feel of it.
It does not sting and did not leave my face irritated. I also love that even though this is based off of charcoal, it does not have that grimy, thick, or dirty feel to it. This is pretty much like a gel and has a foamy feel that I love because it feels like it actually did cleanse my skin.
It also leaves your skin super super soft. I definitely recommend too non sensitive skin and acne, oily prone skin!.
This is the best facial exfoliating cleanser I have used hands down, especially used with Bioré’s Pore clarifying Witch Hazel! I was chosen to receive this product for my honest review and opinion, and I was immediately in love- with the scent, the overall feel of gentle exfoliation and how it leaves my skin so smooth, bright and soft! It helps so much for my stubborn cystic hormonal acne (which has been difficult to find anything that helps).
I started to see results within a few days and after about 2 weeks my cystic acne have mostly gone away, some have popped up but they are much easier to control. The exfoliation is gentle yet very effective- from minimizing my acne scaring, pore size and the overall appearance of my skin is much healthier, bright and smooth.
It has quite a luxurious feel to it as well, with a deep cooling and tingling sensation, is quite relaxing. This has helped my overall self esteem greatly, I will be purchasing this once I run out of this bottle for sure!.
Acure acne spot treatment works to treat acne by going right to the root of the problem. Additionally, acure acne spot treatment works to brighten and rejuvenate the skin, renewing its overall health and vitality.
By using potent salicylic acid as a primary ingredient, acure acne spot treatment provides a simple, quick-acting solution to trouble spots, allowing your natural beauty to shine through without irritating the skin.
Each bottle contains. 25 fl. ounce of product. Acure acne spot treatment is vegan friendly and is manufactured using cruelty-free methods. So when you use acure acne spot treatment, you don’t just do your skin a favor you do the world a favor.
This is a spot treatment, so I use it it by putting a little on the back of my hand and then use my finger to dab on the acne (be careful squeezing the tube, more will come out than you will need). I’ve been looking for the past few years for an acne medication to use.
I mostly have hormonal acne that presents itself in the form of cysts that either stay that way or turn into white heads. The day I used this for the first time at night; I had a huge cystic painful pimple, a few white heads, and a few smaller red pimples.
It burned on some of them when I dabbed the treatment. I woke up the next day and the pimples were less red and reduced in size by 50%. I used it in the morning and evening the second day and now on the morning of the third day, all my pimples are almost completely eradicated.
I’ve told all my friends about this magic spot treatment!!!!! I have not experienced any cons with this product. This is specifically for oily and combo skin. I have normal to combo skin and have not experienced any dryness or flakiness, but I use a good hydrating moisturizer afterwords.
Someone with dry skin might flake with this spot treatment. That’s the only con I can think that would occur, but that’s not necessarily the product’s fault, the consumer needs to do their research and read reviews based on their skin type – people with dry skin should likely not use this.
I really like this product, it’s pretty effective at reducing acne and helps it heal faster by reducing redness and inflammation if you’ve picked at any. I’m guilty of that and will dab this stuff on after cleaning my face and as the last step in my skincare routine (I prefer to put it on last so it doesn’t get spread all over my face when I moisturize).
I have normal skin that sometimes gets dry but this product doesn’t cause dry skin or flaking for me. I previously used the Alba equivalent of this and it wasn’t as effective, this gel will take out smaller pimples after 1-3 applications, bigger ones that are more stubborn will take longer to go away depending on how bad it is, but if you’re diligent about applying this stuff it will help a lot.
If I’m lucky enough to feel a pimple forming I’ll put this stuff on right away and it always helps to prevent it from getting bigger. Like other reviewers said, it will sting if you apply it to open pimples, but it’s a temporary inconvenience that goes away after 1-2 minutes.
I use this before bed as well as in the morning (a plus is that it’s clear so it can be worn during the day/when you’re in public) and I see a difference in pimple size within 42 hours for sure. HOWEVER I will not be buying this product again as the gel just oozes out constantly and it is so messy and inconvenient.
When I open it, it’s leaky, after I squeeze, it’s leaky. If Acure would just reconstruct the packaging to maybe have a pump, it would be so much better functionally. I will be finding a new spot treatment for this reason but would buy this again in the future if the packaging changes.

Finally found the perfect cleanser for my face and skin type. I’ve already noticed a huge difference in overall oil reduction, texture, and clogged pores, so I’m pleased. I have combo oily/dry skin on my face, so some areas over produce oil and some areas are drier than a desert.
But a couple of things I noticed about this cleanser is it works really well to unclog the oily areas and keep them moisturized a bit. After about 4 days, I did notice the salicylic acid starting to work and my face was flaking off, but that’s what it’s supposed to do.
So I added some Jergens Ultra Healing lotion to my routine and WOW it’s effective. The dry parts of my face are moist, the oily parts are moist but not oily. Would recommend.
Excess oil production will lead to more acne breakouts, leaving your skin more irritated and discoloured. However, PCA Skin Ance Gel is formulated with 3 key ingredients to clear your complexion while controlling the oil production in your sebum glands.
Furthermore, the Acne Gel also delivers nutrients through an OmniSome system that stabilises salicylic acid for deeper and longer penetration. Expertly clear existing breakouts and blemishes, while preventing future breakouts with the PCA Acne Gel.
This product was recommended by the person who does my facials but it was kinda pricey at the salon. It’s a nice product to use before your moisturizer (and your vitamin c if you use it). It feels good on my face.
My skin feels smooth and supple. I would let it soak into your skin before applying your moisturizer. I love the way my face feels- very smooth and supple. I was pleasantly surprised to see that Walmart had this product.
Thanks Walmart for continuing to bring great products at affordable prices.
I bought this because of concern with those lines, often called techno neck. It smells great – pleasant orange scent. It is thick cream, but sinks into the skin fast and doesn’t feel tacky. Maybe I don’t apply consistently enough and that’s why I’m not seeing a change, or maybe I need to apply every day AND night to neck and chest.
Who knows, but I’ve not seen changes noticeable yet. Quick fix would be Botox and threads, but I don’t want to do that. I’ll continue the application in hopes there will be small changes.
This may be 4 or 5 stars for some people, but I wasn’t able to use it long enough to know if there would be benefits. I used it once daily for 2 or 3 days and then morning and evening for one day. That’s when the redness and stinging began over a large area of m;y neck.
(Never used on chest). I had a sample of PCA balm on hand and applied 3 layers before I got some relief. My main concern is dry skin, but I have had problems with sunscreen brand that I used on my face as well with PCA body therapy.
I cannot find the invoice and don’e have the order number to return this.
I waited until after 3 cans of this “tea tree balm” before writing a review. Warning this stuff is ADDICTIVE. I mean, I started off applying it to rough ashy area’s of my skin not thinking much of it.
Also had a couple of ringworms from work. This stuff actually scared me!!!! It works so fast, yet it’s so gentle,so aggressive. Healed my dark chocolate skin tone within a couple of days. Lip balm, lotion substitute, razor bump remedy what can’t this stuff do? I don’t see to many men glorifying skin care products, its usually their wives or another female in their lives.
I had to voice my opinion after the results. NO MISLEADING HERE. IF YOUR NOT ADDING A COUPLE OF CANS TO YOUR CART NOW YOU DON’T WANT INSTANT RESULTS!.
I bought this product from Amazon. It had good reviews and I was looking for something that would calm my skin while providing moisture and aid my acne. You only need a little product at a time so it lasts a long time.
It had a strong sent that I didn’t care for. The texture felt too much like a film for me as well. So it actually did the opposite of what I wanted. I found it very drying yet occlusive and I ended up getting more pimples while using it.
It did however work okay as a spot treatment on my body when I broke out from an allergic reaction to something else.
I’ve had moderate acne for about two years now. I eat healthy, have good hygiene, and have normal hormones, but yet it persisted. I’ve tried a number of different products with no success. This cream is the only thing that has made a CONSISTENT difference.
Aside from during my period, I no longer have acne!! The cream appears to be an emollient, so it is neither watery nor oily. It is full of both evidence based and botanical compounds. Pretty much everything people use for acne is in this single formula.
Get the best prescription-strength acne treatment without a prescription. La Roche Posay Effaclar Adapalene Gel 0. 1% Acne Treatment is a topical treatment designed to clear and prevent breakouts. It targets them all from blackheads and whiteheads to acne blemishes and clogged pores to help you put your freshest face forward with confidence.
The non-greasy texture absorbs quickly into the skin for optimum performance, leaving you with better and better skin with every use.
I’m 6 weeks into using this and don’t want to review prematurely, but absolutely already see and love the results and I didn’t expect a change so quickly. My face is very oily and acne prone. I use liquid extra strength salicylic acid AM only & 5% benzoyl peroxide serum AM & PM.
I’ve been using that routine of treatments for acne/oily skin for about 10 years and it kept my skin looking good, but not great. My oily skin started looking dull over the last few years and then I developed a bout of hormonal acne for a few months before starting this adapalene.
I first started using this product every other night and for the first 2 weeks my face peeled a min/mod amount, it never felt irritated and easily washed off AM/PM and my face never felt dry/peeling throughout the day if I stuck with my AM routine.
After about 2 weeks I was able to start using this 6 nights a week and one night off a week with an AHA mask that night and I’ve been doing that routine for about 4 weeks. My skin has never looked better.
My hormonal acne dried up within the first two weeks and after everything healed my skin now looks so smooth and glowing. I still am peeling a tiny bit some mornings and my skin is still looking better each day.
Areas that have been dull for years look so much more smooth and glowy and my acne has been very stable. I highly recommend adding this product into your routine or starting a routine based around this product.
I started using this product about a year and a half ago. I discovered it on this Ulta website after viewing my face wash product, which is the La Roche Posay foaming facial cleanser. I was struggling with acne at the time and needed a good product to help with it.
I cam across the La Roche Posay Effaclair Adapelene Ance treatment. It is a light gel like cream that you apply directly on the acne. Overall this product changed my skin for the better ! The main strengths of this product are how it is effective, light weight, and long lasting.
I found this product to be very effective on my skin. My skin mainly struggled with blackheads and acne on certain areas of my face. It didn’t go away over night, however within weeks of using this product my skin improved a lot.
This product is also light weight. It is a gel like treatment, so it is very refreshing on the face when it is put on. I only use it at night due to its minimal exposure to the sun. Not only is is refreshing but it also tightens the skin and it feels smooth.
I find the acne treatment to be long lasting. A little goes a long way with this treatment. I use about a pea size amount for my entire face, so the entire thing lasts me about 4 months, sometimes more.
All of these factors really helped me continue the use of this product. This product also has it weaknesses, which are its side effects as well as its price. The product is effective, but that is because it is strong and that means there can be side effects.
When I first started to use it, it made my skin extremely dry. It makes it a lot more dry in the winter as well, so I avoid using it on my entire face. If it is too strong on the entire face, it is a good idea to just use it on the areas with acne.
The product is on the pricier side. It costs a little over 30 dollars for only one tube of the product, which can be a lot. Overall, the product will vary from person to person. Everyone’s skin is different, so what worked me might not work for you.
I really do like this product though, and will continue using it for my acne prone skin. I would say my overall evaluation of this product is a B. I wouldn’t rate it an A solely because there are some cons about the product such as price and it’s side effects.
Acne affects up to 50 million Americans each year, according to the American Academy of Dermatology. Despite the fact that acne is the most frequent skin issue in the United States, many people still have trouble finding the appropriate acne treatment for their skin.
Prescription drugs, both topical and oral, as well as over-the-counter (OTC) skincare products, are used to treat acne. We recruited the help of board-certified dermatologists to help us narrow down the huge array of possibilities.
While their initial recommendation is usually to see a dermatologist, some mild acne types can be treated with over-the-counter (OTC) medications. Prescription-strength acne treatments and specialist consultation may be required for moderate to severe acne.

I received this as a tiny breakout was starting, and tried this following the toner. A few hours later I noticed the spot had flattened, so I was thrilled about that. I also like the product a lot for the ingredients.
They feel soothing but there’s also a nice herbal scent. The citrus, achillea, borage, calendula, parsley, fennel, tea treat, eucalyptus, and juniper make for a soothing yet bracing combination. (Some of the bracing-ness might be due to the alcohol in the product, as it dries.
) But I do like how the ingredients work together, especially the hints of fennel scent that emerge after applying. It works fast, it’s easy to use, and it doesn’t annoy my sensitive/normal skin. I also discovered one other side benefit, one that’s even better than the breakout assistance.
I got this as mosquito season is getting underway, and mosquitos have always feasted on me, leaving me with itchy red welts and bumps wherever they attack. Desperate, I tried the Burt’s Bees clarifying toner on the bug bites and then applied this spot treatment on top of that.
It provided some very welcome relief, and a few hours later I noticed the bug bites had reduced considerably. It’s honestly the best bug bite relief I’ve ever experienced. (And I’ve tried toothpaste, witch hazel, peppermint and tea tree oils, clove oil, hydrogen peroxide, antihistamine creams and other concoctions.
) This, hands-down, provides the best relief for my bug bites. I might be applying this behind my ears when I go outside to see if this treatment drives them away.
I received this product free from the Burt’s Bees Hive Helpers program for review purposes. All opinions are 100% my own. I have never seen a product like this before and was excited to try it. It is marketed as an acne spot treatment, but it looks and feels like a facial oil, so that is how i incorporated it into my skincare routine.
The product has a distinct herbal scent that is quite strong that some people may not care for, but I like it. I used this product at night since some acne products can cause irritation when out in the sun for long periods of time (which my job requires) and applied it by patting it on with my fingers in problem areas on my face and neck.
I noticed a reduction in redness and new breakouts after using it for just over a week. I used this product every other day since acne products can sometimes be overly drying for my skin. Overall, I think this product works well and I would recommend it to others who have moderate acne problems and are looking to improve their skin.
I decided to purchase this item as more of a dark spot corrector than actually treating acne. I only get acne around my time of the month so it’s not severe, however, my skin is weird that one or two pimples leave dark spots.
I’ve tried everything and nothing seemed to work. Recently someone pointed out that the “mole” on my forehead was getting bigger/darker and that I should check it out when in reality it was just a dark spot.
I decided to use this spot treatment and honestly, after 6 days, the dark spot has gotten about 3 shades lighter. a few other spots have lightened up or disappeared as well. I will say that certain spots it really does dry out your skin, where I find myself peeling off dark flakes of skin.
Gross, I know. I suggest buying a really good moisturizer to put on about 15-20 minutes after you use this. The only true negative is, I actually really hate the smell. It has like hints of ginger and mint, not sure what but I hate both so maybe that’s why I’m not a fan.
Most acne cleansers have a moisturizer in them, to keep them from drying out the skin. This makes me break out. This is the best cleanser I have ever found. Sometimes in winter it can be too drying, in which case I switch to the normal cream cleanser.
But I also use sunscreen against florescent lights and anti-aging products which counteract the dryness. I took a test once and was diagnosed with super oily skin, so it might be too drying for someone with just mildly oily skin.
This is not the same as what I was I was gifted. But I could not find the exact same thing. I received this facial cleanser for free from Butterly and ChickAdvisor. I throughly enjoyed this cleanser, it smells great.
It gently exfoliates and really cleans my face well. I really like the fact that it is a clean product. I will definitely be adding this to my regular routine.
I received this as a #freeproduct from topbox circle as a part of the hello winter box. its a salicylic acid based face wash for blemish prone skin which i have! I was so close to repurchasing my regular salicylic acid cleanser from inkey list but this definitely is a strong competitor to it.
This face wash leaves the skin feeling refreshed and clean but not dried out. I use it every other day to keep any breakouts at bay. so far i don’t have any new friends on my face since using this.

I spent the last 4 weeks trying out the Honestly Pure Retinyl Serum and you can see my skin looks more radiant and refined than ever. The formula has a thick oat milk consistency and is unscented. On application, I didn’t have any irritation and it felt soothing.
The formula went on smoothly in a thin even layer but dried down tacky and felt as if there was a film over my skin, almost giving you a tight mask sensation. Once I applied my moisturizer on top, the sticky residue dissipates, and my skin is left feeling hydrated and almost dewy looking.
Overall I would rate this serum a 4/5 – while I wasn’t a huge fan of the tacky residue feeling on my skin during application, I can say I thoroughly enjoyed this serum and will most likely be repurchasing when I can get my hands on it.
The ingredients were simple, clean, and effective and it made my skin feel happy. I noticed a difference in my skin texture so it did what it said it would do and would recommend it to those who are looking to incorporate retinol into their skincare routine, minus the irritation and dryness that comes from pure retinol.
It appears they have changed their packaging and is going through a rebranding stage but this is the Honest Beauty’s Honestly Pure Retinyl Serum. The second image is my after photo of clean skin after 4 weeks of usage and is unedited.
The first time I started using this it was AMAZING. Made my skin tone even and removed all the scarring and dark spots from acne. My skin had never looked better. BUT after my first bottle ran out I stopped using it for a bit.
Recently I started using it again but it doesn’t have the same effect on my skin anymore. It’s not damaging my skin but it’s also not improving it like it had the first time. I had high hopes from how amazing it was the first time but am looking for a different retinol now.
This little kit is so convenient for travel! It’s also been great to start my pre-teen on a first regimen for acne and skin care. It is gentle enough for every day and has given her clear results. Highly recommended to anyone looking for a simple clean skin care routine.
I will definitely be looking at this brand in the future! We snagged this for $10.
Glytone Acne Treatment Lotion has a non-rritating formula designed to work with sensitive, acne-prone skin. This lotion utilizes the unique qualities of Salicylic Acid to penetrate pores to control acne blemishes, acne pimples, blackheads and white heads.
All of this while keeping your skin hydrated using their Hydro-Gel Matrix.
I lost the beautiful skin gene lottery and I have had acne since I was 10 years old to now 30-something years old. Trust me – I have tried all the BP products and this one is the best and only one I will use.
It is non-irritating but stronger than the 2% normally offered in the drugstore. After going to dermatologists, estheticians, etc. and paying for over-counter, high-end, and prescription (i. e. retinol) skincare products, I have found that using a salicylic acid (2% for me but 1% would probably work for others) during the day and using this benzoyl peroxide (no higher than 5% and applying after moisturizer) at night works the best.
I still get redness because I use both SA and BP but stopping either at this point results in breakouts. For people just starting, I recommend just using BP at night (or even every other night). If you dilute with moisturizer, the redness is minimal (and with this specific product, there is no irritation – peeling – which is amazingly rare for BP).
I hope they restock soon and keep this product around.
I’ve used the Glytone products for years. My skin is medium warm tone with acne comedones and cysts. Glytone Acne Treatment mask cleans deep into my pores, clearing out bacteria. This is the first step in my skin care routine.
I follow with the Glytone Mild Gel Cleanser and Hydra Lipid UV Mineral Sunscreen SPF 40+.
This is what I typically purchase – accidentally got the wrong thing this time around but this is my go to! I have literally used almost every single skincare product on the market and nothing compares to this.
The face wash leaves your skin feeling amazing – it motivates you to wash your face, the mask calms down any irritation or pimples, and I love how the healing serum isn’t oily but dries more like a gel.
The first few weeks of using the product, I really liked it. My skin felt great and it felt like it was really clearing up. When I followed the instructions for the botanical mask and started using it slightly less my face is starting to break out really bad.
I switched from every day to every other day or every two days because it was really drying my face out and the instructions on the mask said to use it more frequently to clear acne and less frequently to maintain once it’s been cleared and used it as a spot treatment in between but every part of my skin that wasn’t touched daily by that mask started to break out horribly.
I’m not sure if maybe it’s just a fluke. Kind of torn as to whether I want to buy it again and continue to use it.
I’ve recently been experiencing major hormonal breakouts. I was very hopeful using Lerosett after reading and seeing reviews. Unfortunately, the product wasn’t as great as I had hoped. It leaves me very dry and while it clears up pimples including cystic acne, I have new ones immediately after along with scarring.
I’ve used the acne kit as directed for about a month but do not see much of an improvement. I’m not sure if I need to give it more time or if I need to visit a dermatologist.
Benzoyl Peroxide 2. 5-percent strength facial wash is a very effective antibacterial cleanser for the treatment of acne and acne-prone skin. It assists in thoroughly removing sebum and cellular debris without stripping or excessive dryness.
Oily skinned individuals will appreciate deep cleansing action that leaves the skin feeling extra clean, soft and smooth.
For years and years I was searching for an acne lotion that wouldn’t leave my skin dry, red, flaky and itchy. Well I worked for a plastic surgeon for 3 years and he’s the one that actually mentioned Jan Marini products.
Long story short month after month I order the benzoyl peroxide acne treatment lotion 10% and it has done miracles to my skin. It’s smooth. It has a glow to it and my pores have shrunk where pictures come out.
So good they look photoshopped. Thank you thank you, thank you. I could not be more pleased!.

I’ve tried everything over the years as I’ve struggled with acne and then hormonal acne my entire adult life. I’ve been using it for exactly one month today, and I’ve seen a huge improvement. I started to see significant improvement that first week.
I’m still getting a little acne now and then, but it heals so much faster. I read that it can take up to 3 months for your skin to fully adjust. If you struggle with hormonal, cystic acne, you must try this!!!! It was a little drying at first so I started with applying it only in the evening which I read other people tried.
I was able to increase it to morning and night applications. I figured out how to use the benzoyl peroxide for me since it’s so strong and burned my skin – I apply moisturizer after washing my face and using thr toner.
While the moisturizer is drying, I apply the benzoyl peroxide lotion as a spot treatment, only on my acne spots. It burns only for a few minutes and hasn’t dried my skin out doing it this way.
I was struggling the last 2 years with adult acne. I had switched from rogan and fields to philosophy clear and then tried to just use a soap and this caused some serious adult acne. I tried pretty much everything and even got my Kaiser doctor to prescribe me face creams and that helped a little, plus using philosophy clear face wash twice a day.
My mom had told me to use SkinMedica. So when I was researching SkinMedica for acne they didn’t have anything and lovely skin recommended Obagi CLENZIderm MD System. After reading comments & research I decided to give it a chance.
I’ve been using the full product (3 bottles) now for over 3 weeks and my face has made it 180 turnaround. I’ve seriously have very NO acne and only my old acne scars. I would hands down recommend this to anyone that is struggling with acne.
Heads up it does burn for the few days just a bit. If it does burn than just put less of the product on was my trick. Until your face can adapt.
With Obagi products, you always have to spread the product across the face, never rub it into the skin. This will give the most optimum affect. My pores are enlarged in certain spots, so I noticed that if I wash with cold water it doesn’t burn as much.
I’ve been using Obagi products for a while so my skin can take the toughness this one dishes out. If you wash face and then wait 10-15 min like it suggests, I put my face in front a fan to cool the skin, then I apply the two remaining products.
Then I go back in front of fan to let the product dry faster. This way, it doesn’t burn as long and as much. I’ve been using for a couple weeks, so the intensity of this product is starting to subside.
It is a very strong product to let you all know, but it works very well at making acne disappear! I don’t use it every day, just every couple of days. In the beginning I used it in morning and at night straight for three days to get the acne under control.

The Clearly Basics Sensitive Skin Trio have definitely changed my life. I have been struggling with adult acne for the past few years, but never found anything that helped until I tried Clearly Basics.
I could actually tell a difference after just a couple of weeks of using this, but now 3 months later my skin feels and looks amazing!! All of my acne is basically gone. I do get a couple tiny pimples every few days, but they are gone again before I know it, thanks to the Clear Out.
I have also struggled a lot with scarring all I have both cheeks and neck, but all of those are significantly reduced. I also love how quickly the Lighten Up reduces redness. I used to never leave the house without makeup, and now I barely ever wear makeup! Such a big change in 3 months, and I just feel so much more confident.
I will definitely continue using the Clearly Basics products!.
Amazing results!! I have a bad history of acne and Ive tried multiple products and topical creams prescribed from dermatologists (including 2 Isotretinoin treatments for my cystic acne) but it would always be so harsh on my skin and it wouldnt totally clear up my acne.
Ive honestly never thought Id find a product for me like Clearlys basics. Since I was 12, I started wearing makeup to hide my acne, Ive always been so self conscious (in a bad way) of my acne prone skin.
But now, since Ive started Clearly Basics, my skin glows and I feel great not wearing makeup. I honestly never thought this could happen to me now that Im 38. Im truly amazed. The Clear Out is not harsh on my sensitive skin and I love the feeling of the Protective Moisturizer.
Seriously, you have nothing to lose to try it out. Im so glad I did, it changed my life.
I have been struggling with adult acne for 2yrs and this is the first product that has really made a difference and it happened faster than I thought (saw results after about a month of twice daily use).
I have the most reactive skin and everything breaks me out, my skin is also dry in some spots and oily in others and this has made the breakouts less frequent (approx 1 pimple a month now instead of 5-10 constantly at all times) and has seemed to make my skin less sensitive overall and less oily.
My scarring is significantly better after using this trio for the past 4 months (re-purchased after 3 months cause it was working so well). My pimples that do form now are very small and go away after a day and dont seem to be scarring.
This stuff is amazing!!! I was honestly shocked that it worked because I have tried so many different brands and nothing has had any real effect (DE, Biossance, Kiehls). I would say it is a reasonable price too for the products which is a huge bonus and will keep me as a repeat customer.
Vichy Normaderm Phytosolution Sulfur Paste SOS is a local care that reduces the appearance of pimples, while soothing the skin. With local action, it acts directly on the bubbles. It dries the pimples, attenuating the size and the inflammation.

I am very picky when it comes to my skincare, so when I received this little green tube from the Stellar Product Testing Panel, I was nervous. My skin can be unpredictable. At 31, I still struggle with acne on occasion.
During the winter, redness and dry patches are my worst enemies. So I have my tried and true team of toner, serums, hyaluronic acid, moisturizer and my beloved retinol to keep my skin happy. But I don’t have a spot treatment.
They usually fail me—too harsh, leading to drying/peeling and irritation which inevitably leads to another breakout. exactly what I was trying to get rid of! Vichy Normaderm S. O. S. Acne Rescue Spot Corrector has done none of that for me, thankfully! I’ve had the opportunity to use it a couple of times now, and I’ve been pleasantly surprised! My sensitive skin has not reacted, at all, no matter how often I apply it (it recommends 1-3 times per day, but beginning with once per day and moving up to avoid any dryness).
A very tiny dab of it goes a long way, and I love that the tube is made specifically to only dispense a teeny amount. Though it is a sulfur based spot treatment, it does not smell strongly of sulfur.
One of the blemishes I used it on happened to be on the tip of my nose (thanks maskne. ) and I did not find the smell at all unpleasant. I experienced no redness or drying, and the blemishes cleared quickly, typically within a day.
And it seems to help them to heal faster too. My skin likes to hold on to the red mark where the blemish was for quite some time, but this spot treatment seemed to cut that down to just a day or two.
Overall, I’m very pleased with this product and happy to add it to my skincare routine!.
My acne always flares up every month, so I was so excited that the Stellar Product Testing Panel asked me to try out a spot corrector for my honest review! I started using the Vichy Normaderm S. O. S.
Acne Rescue Spot Corrector at night when I saw a few acne flare-ups, and I was very impressed with the results overnight! My acne noticeably improved by the next morning. It worked especially well for those annoying and painful red acne bumps, as they were completely gone in only 2 days after using this product.
My go-to spot corrector has always been products with benzoyl peroxide because of of how quickly it works, but the huge down-side to benzoyl peroxide is that it bleaches fabrics. This was my first time trying a sulfur-based spot corrector.
The Vichy Normaderm S. O. S. Acne Rescue Spot Corrector works just as quickly, and I had zero issues with bleaching! One of the side effects that I read about with the Vichy Normaderm S. O. S. Acne Rescue Spot Corrector is dryness, but I did not experience any dryness during the 3 weeks that I have been using it so far.
The only down-side with this sulfur medication is that it does have a faint sulfur smell. Therefore, I prefer to use the product at night. I did try this spot corrector once during the day, but I kept smelling the sulfur.
With that being said, overall, I’ve been very happy with the quick results of this product without any side effects, and I plan on continuing to use this spot corrector nightly as needed!.
I’ve been using the Vichy Normaderm S. O. S. Acne Rescue Spot Corrector for about a week now. It arrived just in time for my monthly break out. Whoever told me that acne goes away after your teen years has a lot to answer for! At 37 years old, my acne has been getting worse and worse since my second baby was born.
Every month like clockwork, here it comes. Therefore, I was very excited to get to test this product through the Stellar Product Testing Panel. I need to use it for a bit longer before I’ll be able to give a 5 star review but it does seem to work so far.
It’s not the magic pill I’ve always dreamed of that will 100% cure my acne but it’s a relief to have while I wait for magic to become real. It works especially well on small pimples that are just forming.
I noticed that for blemishes that were more established, it brought them to a head overnight and then they quickly healed from there. I had one large, stubborn pimple that this was not able to get rid of but I do think it helped reduce the size.
I only use the S. O. S. Spot Corrector once a day since it’s winter and I don’t want to risk drying out my skin too much. Once a day application did not over-dry my skin at all so next time I might try applying it twice a day to any particularly stubborn blemishes.
I like that it is non-comedogenic, oil-free, paraben-free and fragrance-free. I don’t have particularly sensitive skin but have had some irritation with other treatments so I’m happy to report no negative side effects with this one.
All in all, I think this is a good spot corrector and I definitely plan to keep using it!.

My name is Nicki & I am 37 years old. I have suffered with the worst kind of oily skin & acne since I was around 12 years old. When I got into my mid 20s I started to experience pretty severe cystic acne as well.
I’ve tried every type of cleanser out there & I was disappointed time & time again. I found LovelySkin & I decided to try Glytone’s cleanser. I can honestly say that NOTHING has worked AS WELL as this product for me.
I love the way that it tingles when left on my skin for about 1-2 minutes. It also instantly softens rough skin texture & rinses clean. It does not over dry my skin. It has substantially helped slow my faces oil production, even in these extreme summer months.
I’m eager to try Glytone’s masks to see if they are as good as this cleanser is.
I have used Glytone self foaming cleanser for several years now as recommended by my dermatologist. The product worked great. The foaming was significant enough to shave with. The product was unavailable for a period of time and has recently become available again.
I quickly purchase 4 new bottles. The new product is a different color and no longer foams. I called Glytone and was informed that the formula has changed. I expressed my disappointment with the new product that doesn’t foam as advertised.
I’ve order products from this site 3 times and every single it has been a nightmare. From losing my order to placing a fraudulent hold twice on my card. It has truly been an horrible experience. My last order I placed almost 3 weeks ago I still haven’t received it.
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND NEVER ORDERING FROM THIS SITE they have horrible service and it will take forever to receive your merchandise. www. Dermstore. com Has all the glytone products and offer amazing deals with other brands.
I have found an even better place to shop for the glytone products that I love. AGAIN DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS SITE. VERY DISAPPOINTED.
Medicated, foaming acne cleanser that contains 3% Sulfur to help reduce and prevent blemishes, unclog pores, balance oily skin, and minimize appearance of pores. See visibly clearer skin with continued use.
This medicated, foaming acne cleanser with a unique “whipped” texture is formulated with 3% Sulfur to help clear skin and prevent blemishes, and draw out impurities to unclog congested pores. Helps reduce and prevent acne blemishes.
Draws out impurities to unclog congested pores. Helps calm and soothe acne-prone skin. Reduces, absorbs and balances sebum. Minimizes the appearance of pores.
I soooo wish I had before and after photos since using this product daily. I suffer from hormonal acne, and patches of redness that looks like acne but there aren’t any raised bumps. My pores have also become more noticeable as I’ve aged (I’m 36).
When I tell you I’ve tried nearly every acne cleanser out there I mean I HAVE TRIED THEM ALL. The only one that ever made a difference is the original Proactive cleanser but I’ve stopped using products that contain parabens and it wasn’t working for me like it used to anyways.
I’ve found that salycic acid cleansers don’t work for me and neither does benzoyl peroxide, although it used to. I picked this up during Ulta’s 21 days of beauty sale figuring I had nothing to lose and within a week my skin had completely cleared up for the first time in over a year.
I started reading about the benefits of sulfur for acne prone skin and wish I’d had known about it so much sooner! I’ve been using this cleanser for over a month now and still get the occasional pimple around that time of the month but it’s a night and day difference from before.
I can actually leave the house without foundation and feel comfortable in my skin. If you’ve tried salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide cleansers and they haven’t worked for you pleeeaaase give this a shot.
The only downside is that it has a very mild scent (to be expected with any product containing sulfur), but it’s not at all overbearing and dissipates once you wash it off. But if you’re super sensitive to scents, maybe get it when it’s on sale or buy a mini first.
I purchased when I ran out of a prescription 6% sulfur face wash (SulfaCleanse) and love it so much I’ve never gone back to the rx! While my prescription face wash helped keep acne-rosacea flares at bay, it was too drying to use more than once daily (even with 1x daily use, SulfaCleanse often left dry, flakey patches around my eyes and mouth).
OTOH, I was pleasantly surprised to find EradiKate Daily Cleanser’s formula incredibly gentle. The combination of 3% sulfur—half the strength of my rx formula and soothing ingredients like colloidal oatmeal allow me to treat my skin twice daily without drying or irritation.
This has made my skin clearer and more resilient to acne-rosacea flares *and* hormonal breakouts! The sulfur scent is greatly tempered by the addition of soothing and calming herbal ingredients; EradiKate Daily Cleanser doesn’t have that in-your-face rotten egg smell typical of many sulfur-based products, and the little it does dissipates upon rinsing and drying.
Because you only need a pea-sized amount of EradiKate Daily Cleanser to work into a lather each time you wash your face, the formula is pretty economical. A 4oz tube sells for ~$40USD and lasts me ~6 months of twice daily use.
If you’re hesitant to pull the trigger on the full size, a 2oz tube retails for ~$20USD and should last ~3 months. This cleanser has been magic in a tube for my (reactive, eczema-prone, combination) acne-rosacea skin—for both treating and preventing blemishes without causing dryness or irritation.
I cannot recommend enough if your skin reacts well to sulfur! ⭐️NOTE⭐️: if you’re unsure how your skin reacts to sulfur and don’t want to purchase a $$ product until you know it’s an ingredient that works for you, I recommend purchasing an inexpensive sulfur mask or bar soap from your pharmacy or Amazon (de la Cruz sulfur mask, sulfur/zinc “Z-bar” soap, and generic sulfur/salicylic acid bar soaps all retail for ~$3USD/each).
None of these are as hydrating as KS EradiKate, but they will give you an idea as to how your skin handles sulfur as an active for acne treatment🙂.
I absolutely never review any products, but felt almost obligated to by the success I have had with this product. I have suffered with severe acne both during my pregnancy and the last 5 months post-partum.
I spent 9 months trying everything to fix it and the last 5 months tackling it again from every angle. I typically have true combo skin, bad blackheads, extremely sensitive and acne prone skin especially when over-exfoliated.
After narrowing my acne down to a fungal acne caused by varying hormone levels, I searched high and low for sulfur containing products to accompany a topical anti fungal prescribed from my physician.
This face wash is one of the few suggested for fungal acne, and the only one you need. My skin has not looked this good in over a year and a half (even with just the topical anti fungal ). You can definitely smell the sulfur, but my skin has never felt dried out or over exfoliated.
Highly recommend a try if all other paths have been unsuccessful.
First all-in-one, anti-acne care created by our laboratories, Sebium Global changes sebum quality. It uses the Fluidactiv complex to purify the skin by normalizing sebum quality. Science has proven that this very quality is crucial to clear skin, acne being partly caused by a deficiency in vitamin E.
By combining the Fluidactiv and Bakuchiol technologies, Sebium Global recreates the effects of vitamin E and fights excess sebum, the main cause of acne precisely because it can become oxidized and thick, instead of protecting the skins surface like a filter.
Potentially irritating, poor-quality sebum can clog pores and contribute to lesions such as blackheads, and to the proliferation of the bacteria causing inflammatory lesions. Lactic, citric and salicylic acids all converge to exfoliate the skin and unclog pores.
As a result, our cream acts on the manifestations of acne without ever compromising on tolerance. It targets pimples which are already present by drying them and helping them disappear, facilitating the healing process and minimizing scars.
It prevents the occurrence of new lesions by deeply penetrating the skin to purify pores. It mattifies. Its moisturizing effect soothes redness associated with dry skin, thanks to zinc, but also to enoxolone, glycerin and AHA esters.
Not only are pimples less profuse and severe, but your skin becomes smooth and healthy again. Within only 57 days of clinical trials including two daily applications of the product without any additional treatment, our users have noticed a reduction of blackheads of 51%, and of pimples of 75%.
It comes in a white tube with green soft plastic letters, so you can take advantage of the entire product by even cutting it if necessary, although I cut it when I finished it and there was nothing left on the walls.
It follows the aesthetics that Bioderma uses in all its packaging, simple and in this case green because it is the line dedicated to oily / combination skin. The dispenser is with a small hole, it is small so as not to waste product and wide enough so that the product can come out without problems.
I really like these cans because I see them very hygienic and comfortable. It is a gel / cream format texture, it is quite liquid, very fresh and absorbs immediately, almost that it looks more like a gel format.
It is very comfortable to wear and does not remove fat. I apply it only at night because it contains acids, although in a low concentration so if you use high SPF during the day there would be no problem using it during the day too, I already tell you in summer that I prefer to prevent.
The smell is pleasant as a floral scent. At the time of applying it, notice a small stinging or tingling sensation, this is due to acids, but it disappears soon. It does not have to irritate the skin, since the acids are in small concentration.
Personally, it helps me control imperfections, although I do not feel hydrated skin, it is a good product but it is more for oily skin.
This is probably one of my favorite acne treatments. Just a tiny pea goes a long way, which means it takes a while before you need to buy another one. It does a very good job controlling sebum production and it also prevent new breakouts.
I mainly use it during the summer, when my skin gets oilier than usual. The only reason why I gave it four out of five stars is because I feel like it doesn’t do a very job when it comes to hormonal acne, which is the type I mostly have.
For regular acne, it is an amazing product and I highly recommend it! #skincare #morningroutine #nightroutine #acne #oilyskin.
Coming from someone with very acne prone skin and has been on contraceptive pills since 15 to battle it, this is a good cream! No cream is going to 100% stop or prevent spots but this one certainly doesn’t add to the mayhem.
A nice light cream, fast absorbing, that leaves my face feeling fresh afterwards. Would definitely recommend this for any other like me! I also have sensitive and combination skin and it works well overall.
Skin’s dermatologist-developed Blemish Breakthrough Acne Clarifying Cleanser is a gentle gel cleanser with 1% Salicylic Acid and other acne-fighting ingredients that lather to help remove makeup, control oil and dirt, and clarify pores.
Directions Cleanse the skin thoroughly before applying medication. Cover the entire affected area with a thin layer one to three times daily. If bothersome dryness or peeling occurs, reduce application to once a day or every other day. Sensitivity Test for a New User. Apply product sparingly to one or two small affected areas during the first 3 days. If no discomfort occurs, follow the directions stated elsewhere on this label.
Uses For the treatment of acne Helps prevent new acne blemishes
Elf’s rebrand has brought a lot of amazing changes. Besides the quality of the makeup skyrocketing, they’re now known for some the most affordable skincare at the drug store. As an avid supporter (and a member of the Icon tier) I was very excited to try this out.
I waited until the dreaded week before P Day to see how well this face wash would keep my pimples at bay. Right out of the box, it comes in the familiar pump bottle that we’re used to seeing. What I like is that it locks and unlocks with a short turn of the pump.
The face wash has no dyes or scent, so it perfect for those who enjoy clean beauty or have sensitive skin. As a wash, it lathers up decently without leaving you looking like you’re at a foam party and feels surprisingly clean even when just washing with hands.
I didn’t notice any excessive dryness either. It was a nice break from the scented products I normally use. As of now, the zits have been minimal. I’ve even seen some control around the areas prone to pimples or ingrown hairs looking smoother than they normally would (chain, sideburns, hairline, etc).
All in all, I would definitely suggest this product for anyone looking to add a simple wash to their daily line up.
The conclusion of skincare for acne and oily skin is that there are a variety of products available to help control acne and oil production. Some people may need to try a few different products before finding one that works best for them.
It is important to cleanse the skin gently, use oil-free products, and avoid picking or squeezing pimples.
