20 Best Size Shed To Build (2023 Updated)

Delivery – Managed by Keter via their courier. You will be told its a kerbside delivery, but if you’re lucky like us, the drivers will drop it off on your property. Big relief for us as the parcels are really heavy and the poly strapping around the cardboard is not great for grip.

Two boxes arrive. One of ours was almost coming apart from the weight. On unboxing we had a small snapped piece of plastic that to this day I don’t know where it came from, a slightly warped corner soffit I managed to fit in place and 2 roof corner fixings that snapped off, and one roof panel was slightly squashed one side and an apex that had a slight bend.

I contact Keter 10 days ago and had no reply still. On day 3 I just carried on with the build. Most of the issues in the pack I think stem from overloading the parcel. I’d have said 3 to 4 boxes would help.

Base – Our base was MOT, then sand that had been wackerplated and levelled by our landscaper, and artificial grass as the final layer. Keter confirmed this was okay as we’d given assurances water running off the shed would drain and not pool.

Assembley – I managed to fit the whole shed together in about 4-6 hrs on my own with just some help for pushing the roof down whilst I drilling upwards from the inside. Post assembley – the shed looks grey/beige rather than the brown/beige I ordered.

Happy with that as grey was out of stock and was the one I wanted. There are minor defects in some places but non are show-stoppers. There is a slight discolouration on the doors as if they’ve been treated with some chemical but minor cosmetic thing for me.

We put our shed in a corner but built away from the corner first. After assembly 3 men were needed to move it into the corner as artificial grass pile direction created a resistance. It’s really heavy to the point where a galeforce storm wouldn’t move it even if empty! Overall at it’s RRP it’s a fair deal.

However if the price is above RRP due to supply chains and you have a defect it’s hard to get hold of Keter. So shop smart for low price before you jump in and be prepared for a few issues with defects.

I bought this shed with the impression that all the material would be made of thick/heavy resin/plastic. To my surprise, when I opened the boxes, I discovered not everything was. The wall sections and the roof pieces are made of thinner, corregated pastic.

Very flimsy and despite being supported by heavier thickness resin/plastic corner pieces, you could easily kick/punch the thinner pieces out of place with enough force. Same goes for the roof material.

Put this shed under a tree in the snow and you run the risk of the roof getting a hole punched through it by a broken branch. Don’t put this shed under a tree and the snow build up may cause the roof to collapse (there are aluminum cross supports for the roof, but not enough for the thickness of corregated plastic roof pieces provided).

Not sure how it would hold up in the wind either. I’m not comfortable moving forward putting it together and hoping for the best. I’m returning it ASAP and am going to build a wooden shed. It will cost more, but you can’t put a price on piece of mind knowing it will never give me problems like these cheap resin/plastic sheds might.

Just assembled. Went up easy in about 5-6hrs by myself with about 20 mins help from the wife for the roof (instructions call for more 2 person jobs but I’m stubborn and resourceful). This is molded plastic so of course there are minor mold issues.

These are mostly “flash” – small amounts that seep out between the two forms. Some of these are around attachment and click-in points, especially around the door hinges. You can force a lot of them together anyways, but this will cause fit issues and some will not click.

Simply taking a pen knife to clean up these areas makes them fit perfectly, first try though. Some minor warping and fit issues here and there were easily overcome by inspecting parts carefully instead of smashing them together.

Came together well, feels fairly solid for a pre-fab. Stood up to some substantial thunder storm winds this week.

the shed is perfect for my requirements – I have just about enough space to accommodate it and it holds everything I envisaged storing in it. It’s location is fairly sheltered, so can’t comment on how well it would handle high winds (although an anchoring kit is available if required).

It has had some heavy downpours and the inside has remained bone dry. It took 2 men a good day to erect; the instructions are good but have to be followed VERY carefully – we managed to go wrong a couple of times which added to the build time, possibly by an hour in toto, maybe not quite that long.

It does have some restriction on available head height, so some care is needed entering and exiting the shed ( I am 5ft 8in – so not particularly tall). Very pleased overall, and would recommend.

This is a very nice shed. We had a friend put it together and it took him all day because there were so many pieces. We would have never been able to do it. We love the skylight and double doors

I haven’t built the shed yet. From looking at the product I’m not very impressed. The instructions are near worthless, so if you have a good knowledge of building this product might work you. I’m going to keep it because roof joists are my biggest concern in the build.

The brackets for the wall are near worthless as they would in no way make a stable wall. However I do believe it will be possible to just properly construct the walls and then place the roof. Also I think there isn’t enough roof brackets to make 4 joists, which would would mean with the hoists available there would only be a front, back and middle stud in the wall.

That would be rather unacceptable situation for a 8×7 shed. It would not be very sturdy and it would be hard to attack the siding. Oh, a good thing here by chooseling siding from the price range you have in your budget you have control of what you end up with.

I only really wanted an 8×4. 3 studs in the wall and 3 joists would work in that size shed. If actually at some point aduquate instruction arrive and give a more detailed idea of how these brackets are suppose to work, I’ll update my review.

Also I’ll update after I do the build using my now intuition, with or without additional instrustions.

Easy to follow instructions with letters on each metal piece. Info shows exactly how long each board is needed for that section. Also the easy to read metal templet for drawing the perfect angle. We are building a greenhouse instead of a storage building.

Bought 2 kits to make an 8×14 shed. Bought these because the framing hardware is metal not plastic like the competitor. Also calls for 2×4 boards not 2×2 so should be much sturdier. Taking it up to our cottage to build.

The extra storage this will give me will be very useful. Will comment again after construction.

The shed was easy to assemble with a 2nd person, neither of us had any experience putting a shed together in the past. The parts are all clearly marked and the instructions are easy to understand. A word of advice, definitely use the liquid soap when assembling the walls as the dovetails are pretty tight.

The liquid soap makes it much easier to slide the pieces together. Also, definitely drill the guide holes as instructed. The only detractor I have is with the doors, the latching system is a little finicky but if you are careful you can secure the doors with a padlock.

As long as you follow the instructions closely and carefully you will have a reliable shed.

Totally worth the extra price for a good quality product! Rubbermaid is the way to go. They make the assembly was smooth as possible, plus it’ll last a long time. Here are a few details from my experience: 1.

I picked mine up at the store. Box is aprox. 2. 5 ft x 2. 5 ft x 7 ft. It weighs 200 pounds. Be prepared if you’re picking up. It barely fit in my Highlander. 2. I highly recommend having 2 people for assembly.

With 2 people, it’ll take 2 hours or so to assemble. Instructions are easy and understandable. 3. A drill is needed, otherwise assembly is difficult. There are aprox. 40 places where you drill thick screws into.

Make life easier and pre-drill with a 1/8 in bit. It’s quick, and you’ll be happy you did. 4. Make certain the ground is level (or have dirt on hand to make adjustments). If not, floor is squishy and gives in.

At approx. $500 CDN this shed is an adequate value. Instal is basic and took about an hour with two people. Read and follow assembly instructions and sufficiently “anchor” the shed base. Design, fit and finish is OK.

I elected to use the slide in mounting hooks to instead fasten 2×2’s on side walls and 2×4 on back wall, allowing for substantially more hanging options. A small shelving/basket unit will fit as well if needed.

Mower handle has to be folded/collapsed to fit. The doors can be locked however given the materials its built out of will serve at best as a deterrent. Keeps yard/garden tools dry and more or less organised.

Regarding Home Depot – HD pricing was odd in that one week this shed was something like $900+ on sale for approx. $500 showing a substantial discount. The following week item was regular priced at approx.

$600. Also could not elect to ship to store (no charge) for pick up – and had to pay $70 shipping fee. Not cool. Regarding recommending this product to a friend – for light duty use and if possible a sheltered location – yes.

The shed once completed is absolutely fantastic, you can see that Lifetime had listened to the reviews and tested the product. There were little things that I noticed that were clearly addressed by testing and feedback.

Once completed there are no sharp edges, places where you would think it would leak are addressed by the engineering of the product and even the amount and options for instruction are abundant. You can even scan a QR code for each step of directions.

Why not 5 stars you ask. For my build the hardware did not match the instructions leading to frustration, the truss assembly instruction I think missed some steps or maybe I just didn’t see it. Hardware was not identical to what I had in my set (I had lock nuts when it called for cap nuts).

Save yourself some time and DO NOT ASSUME YOU KNOW HOW IT IS GOING TO GO, JUST FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS TO THE LETTER. Some of the indicators for using or not using certain tolls were sometimes confusing.

I wish that they would create a full set of instruction in one language, making 3 to different booklets, it would really save on confusion. You CAN use wood for the subfloor, but like the instructions say, I HIGHLY suggest to use concrete, even the smallest amount of flex in the floor makes for very large gaps, especially once you get to the roof that is six foot away from a half inch of flex.

Having a solid floor will both make construction easy and extend the life of your shed. I used a wood subfloor because this is a temporary structure in my case and there were times I was using points where pieces are held together with screws to shift pieces to fit together because of subtle flex in the lumber subfloor.

Another pain point is when addressing a new step it shows you the hardware needed for that step but not the actual piece need for the step, it would only provide the naming nomenclature. What I mean by that is it would provide a picture of the screw but and washer but not a picture of the piece going in, it would just say “CKK(2) CKJ(2)”.

This caused you to continually flip back and forth pages to see what CKK and CKJ looked like. I’ll provide a picture in the review to show what I mean. All in all, there were times of frustration as all projects do, but once finished, I was really impressed with the finished product and I would absolutely purchase again.

You can also see where Lifetime has put thought into the engineering and listened to feedback. I left a comment on the YouTube video and someone responded, even though I was done with my build. Hope this helps.

This Dual Entry 15 x 8 Shed is not easily assembled. Be sure to reserve two full days for assembly if you do not have at lest two people or have problems assembling unfamiliar kits with sometimes confusing instructions.

The hardware (nuts and bolts etc) are the only items labeled in pre-sorted packages. A couple of those packages aren’t labeled, you have to identify the package by the contents. The only parts with any type of labels are the wall corners.

You have to identify everything by shape and size. Several parts do not interlock as designed because of slight mold defects, mold flashing, or incomplete hole punches. The wall corners were the most difficult with the male side at least 1/4 inch (6.

35mm) wider than the floor slot. 500 lbs (226kg) of force and the included wedge would not snap the two pieces together. The left door latches on the top and bottom of the doors are difficult to move without pliers or a hammer.

The good features of this product are the cost per area is reasonable, a similar pre-assembled wood shed was estimated at 50% more in cost. The material is not effected by rot or insects. The base material is only an inch thick so you do not need a ramp.

No regular painting needed with only minimal cleaning upkeep. If the assembly process and molding quality control issues were improved I think this could become a premium product. Right now for the price point and features I still think the product has significant value.

We had an older shed from a different brand that the big bad wolf had taken a big dislike to it. We had fixed it up several times only to be blown down again. The last time was a doozy as it was almost knocked flat.

It was time to go new shed shopping. We looked at wood, metal, vinyl, plastic. The whole spectrum. We priced out building it ourselves but with lumber prices being the way they are in our area, it proved to be too costly.

Our local codes allowed us to build up to a 120 sq. ft. shed without a permit, and our last shed was just under 50 sq. ft. and was packed to the gills, we knew we needed bigger and better. After looking around we settled on model # 60079.

Plus we also ordered the a Snow Load kit as we live in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. We love our shed with some minor flaws. First, when you unpack it, find the instruction manual and check for the yellow pages.

They are the parts identifier and list what is in each box. MAKE SURE YOU GET WHAT YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO!! I just finished building mine and I came up missing one little sky light and it was raining lightly as I was putting on the last of the roof sections and the sky lights.

I called Customer Service and they apologized and are shipping me out the missing piece plus one extra one that I damaged while installing it. As you unpack the items, place similar items together and out of direct sunlight.

They get hot quickly and may warp. So, it is better to put them where they stay cool and organized. When building a platform to put the shed on, flat and level is a beautiful thing!! Also, if you are putting it on anything other than concrete, go up in size.

I built my wooden base out of 2×4’s as the manual suggested. I should have gone with 2×6’s. It would have made it a lot stronger. Also build in more support underneath the beams. I used 2″ concrete pavers.

I wish I had used more of them. I place 3 across and 4 down each side. I should have placed them every 2 beams not every 3 beams in the interior. That way the decking would have deflected less. When building the trusses, keep the interior of the trusses as clean as possible.

That way, the roof pieces will fit in better. If you are using a snow load kit, it is easier to pre-drill the wholes than just use the self drilling screws. At least I found it that way. When putting the floor panels down, you will need another person, or some heavy weights to help keep the floor from moving.

And, don’t be surprised if some of the outside edges don’t come quite together. When you start to put up the side walls, follow the directions as to where to start. The wall panels need to go in in a specific order.

And when you get in a couple of panels, put in a couple of screws to help hold them together. Also, check with a level to make sure they are plumb. It is easier to check and correct when you have a few installed than a whole side.

And keep checking every few panels. The instruction manual is a bit hard to understand at times. If you are unsure, CALL LIFETIME!! it is better to ask then to take it down and redo it. Or look at some videos online.

If a part seems hard to go in, take a utility knife and cut away some of the excess plastic. I had to due it frequently during my build. Not a big problem but something you deal with when working with plastic/vinyl products.

I found that it helped having a nail apron to put screws in. I used both an impact driver and a screw gun. The screw gun has a clutch that you can set so you don’t over drive the screw. I also had magnetic bit holders to help keep the screws in place as I drove them in.

They do give you extras so don’t worry if you have left overs. All in all, I would buy another large shed from Lifetime. I have a small garden shed that I bought from Costco and a deck box that I have had for a decade now.

Still works great.

We purchased this shed for a really reasonable price and didn’t expect the greatest quality because of that. but we were pleasantly surprised. It came together nicely and didn’t take as long as expected either, my husband and a friend put it together so took about 2 full days to complete.

The pre-cut pieces were easily installed as well. We still have yet to paint it, but it looks great even unpainted.

I bought this a little over a week ago and it was my first actual building project! I will say the durability alone is amazing on top of straight forward building instructions. I will recommend these sheds to all of my friends and family.

I bought this kit last week. The plans were thorough and had all the pieces needed. All I had to do is buy roofing material and material for the floor. The only complaint is that some of the 2×3’s were a little rough.

I rarely give reviews, but this Lifetime shed met and exceeded my expectation. I purchased the 10×8 ft shed over 10 years ago. Moving it between locations we’ve disassembled and reassembled it 3 times (marked the pieces).

Of course the assembly took 1-1/2 hours, about 1/3rd the time as the first time. which took about 5 hours. Also called Lifetime and ordered an additional 2. 5′ (30″) section (with windows) making it 12-1/2 ft.

(see pictures). Foundation: The first time it was placed on a bed of gravel (gophers and mice would go under the plastic floor), 2nd time 1ft square patio blocks, then the last time I poured a rough concrete slab (recommended) using 2x4s and pre-mixed sacked concrete.

Make it 1 or 2 inches bigger than the dimensions of the plastic floor. (Note: The plastic floor is not exactly the same dimension as the “shed size”. So get your shed on-site, measure the plastic floor, before building the foundation.

Tips: As with building ANY structure, make sure the foundation is perfectly level. If not, then the roof and the doors do not line-up as expected. Still, you can shim-up the corner to align these. Also, DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN the screw fasteners when assembling.

Don’t think tighter is better. you will strip out the plastic material and the screws may eventually fall out. That said, screws snug-tight, after multiple assemblies, has held perfectly for over 10 years.

Weather: I wanted a “maintenance free” shed. This shed is on our ranch property near the Pacific Coast where we get high winds, salt air, and scorching sun. ANYTHING steel, unless galvanized, will rust away in just a few years.

When I put on the 30″ extension I was concerned that the plastic walls and roof would be faded and wouldn’t match the new section. It matched perfectly! I made sure that it is partially protected from the prevailing winds off the ocean.

Pacific storms can deliver 85+ miles-per-hour gusts. No problems. Also the metal parts are protected inside so is virtually no rust from the salt air! It has been maintenance free, as expected. I have been so impressed with this shed that I purchased Lifetime Storage Deck Boxes 3 years ago for the patio furniture cushions.

They are the exact same color and durable like the shed. I’m very happy. My wife now wants to purchase another Lifetime shed, with a side-entrance, to put along-side her raised garden beds. (on order).

this is pertaining to info on your site. it does not have correct info there. I would like to know the weight of the Lifetime 8×10 storage vinyl shed, which was finally given to me, by your walmart employee which had to look up info.

Lifetime should correct info area. Now, with the shipping info. there was many obstacles of this female, not able to give info correctly and could not understand her low voice and complications of her headset.

not pleasant. everyone is on a budget and would like to know a final cost of this item including ALLLLL shipping fees should be clear and set not an OBTUSE REPLY. I already have a Lifetime shed and this is a great storage shed but this is NOT being handled correctly.

This needs to be more simplified for speed and accuracy for all. thanks.

First, definitely hire them to assemble – not worth pulling your back out. Second, be prepared to find a way to keep rain and snow out. After winter we went inside and water was under the floor, which comes up when you step on it.

Good thing we stored almost everything in plastic bins. We are still trying to figure out a way to stop this. Third, close the door after you open it! I left it open while doing yard work and spent about 20 minutes to get it closed.

The top of the door seemed to expand and was higher and it wouldn’t close. We had to strongly slam it. It was not a fun task! Four, they need to fix these things because after a concrete slab, the shed and installation this was NOT CHEAP!.

The shed went up easy. It recommends a concrete slab or a wooden base as a foundation. I had already leveled the ground and added pavers before I opened the box with instructions. The freight driver delivered the shed and placed it in the driveway.

I move each of the four boxes by two wheeled dolly to the backyard. One box came apart while moving through my gate so I just sorted the contents were I was going to assemble it. The rest I placed back on the pallet that it was delivered on and tarped it.

It took me 3 days from roughly 10am -3pm to assemble the shed by myself. My wife helped me with the roof ridge (cluster of skylights that are assembled together that run the whole 20’) and hanging the plastic shutters.

I used step ladders to help hold the walls when I started assembling the shed. I also used a tall step ladder and a 2×4 to hold pressure on the roof so I could screw together some spots. Luckily everything fit together and the doors open well.

I’m overall please with the product. Hopefully it’ll last a long time. Next project is to add shelving inside and a bike rack to organize all the kids bikes in order to clean out my attached garage.

All the problems are common and to be expected, missing parts, vague instructions, size and fitment issues. My biggest problem now a year after the 3 week assembly on the largest unit is that all of the screws that hold the roof framework to the roof panels are falling out.

It seems that the plastic likes to heat up and expand too much and this loosens the screws in the inconsistant panel thickness at the connection points. This is a huge quality control issue. My unit is in danger of falling apart after only a year after assembly.

I have over 30 years in the building trade and have assembled many product in the past and this is quite overpriced for the quality of the unit I received. If the quality was there it is a good design, it just needs to be heavier in the connection points.

I purchased my shed from a reseller that sells sheds directly to you, for less money. Maybe just purchase it right from Lifetime? That website had overseas customer support that was lacking in common sense.

So, the shed arrived. The freight shipper insisted that their subcontracted shipper (for delivery) would call me 30 minutes before arrival. NOPE! Thankfully, I was there! And, thankfully, my driver had delivered Lifetime sheds, before, and had an idea what to do.

The shed arrived in three large boxes–quite heavy. The skid was 8′ long and maybe 40″ or 48″ wide. The delivery driver only had a regular pallet jack–there was no way to move the skid to the lift gate.

So, we cut the shrink wrap and slid the large cartons to the lift gate. One carton was 8′ L × 40″ W × 16″ thick. Another was the same width & thickness, but maybe only 6′ long. A third was maybe 8′ L × 40″ W × 5″ thick (light/easy).

Monster boxes! Then, they tossed some small boxes on top, loose–my snow load brackets and tool corral. One box was completely mutilated, but all of the snow load brackets and screws remained inside.

So, we muscled this thing off the truck. The driver left (thankfully, he was excellent!). I then, immediately, opened up the boxes and separated out the parts, moving most parts inside until construction weekend.

It’s easy to tell what the parts are, to sort them out. I completed my newly purchased shed on Sunday, February 6TH, 2022. I constructed it on my deck. Having a flat base for this shed is ESSENTIAL! Spend more time on your flat base (deck or concrete).

I was lucky that I had a deck, but I’m sure that this step will mess up most people later on. I assembled my roof brackets, first, including my snow load brackets, which are attached with provided, self-tapping screws—no pre-drilled holes for them.

I then assembled the floor. Then the wall sections. As you build the walls, you must fold the corners. The straight walls and half of each corner are attached in a tongue and groove sort of style. Easy.

However, once you bend the corners, you must snap the newly-bent-side’s two tongues down into the floor. I weigh 250 pounds and still struggled with this, even properly using their plasic “wood block.

” Lifetime needs to reengineer that, to eliminate the snapping. Walls done. Time to install the doors. You must slide a pipe all of the way through the door. My one door had a lot of plastic flash (when hot liquid plastic squeezes into places that it shouldn’t) in the way of the pipe’s hole.

What a bear! I got it through, though. The pipes then each set into a plastic cup, meant to serve as a bearing and pivot point. You then must wiggle a long, teensy cotter pin through a slot in the cup, through holes in the pipe, through the other slot of the cup, and bend the pin.

Guess what. Both cups crack at their slots. This cotter pinning was impossible to do. So, the doors are mounted as best as they can be. Very poor design. Time for the roof. The trusses only set in their slots, on top of the wall sections–not actually attach.

The trusses also act as rain gutters. As you assemble the roof, you must remove your snow brackets, as you go, and then reinstall them after the roof panels are fastened. This is because those self tapping screws will end up drilling into the roof panels’ lips.

You can’t get the roof panels’ lips down, onto their trusses, with the self-tapping snow load brackets’ screws jutting into the sides of the channels of the roof truss/rain gutter. Also, the directions tell you to use a manual screwdriver, throughout.

Be ready for a super tired & sore arm, especially after all of the roof screws! Also, we seemed to have to fight the roof panels to fit right, the entire way. Sometimes, you would just start with a random screwhole that line up, and work your way through the other ones.

And, voila! Everything all sort of popped together and lined up. Not easy, but doable, with frustration. Overall, the bags were labeled quite well. My compliments on Fastenal making your hardware bags.

They were all done right, until bag EMJ. I think that the instructions read either DAH or DRH, maybe? I had to go through the rest of the instruction book, and then determined, by process of elimination, that bag EMJ was correct.

Being that you’re working outside, it would also be great to have a bag that says, “SPARE HARDWARE,” as most people will inevitably drop and lose a tiny screw. The top roof panels and skylights went easily.

The thumb button fits too tightly into the top of the door handle for the spring to do its job. Other note: The woodgrain pattern in the plastic is different (smoother) for one corner and the extension segment.

The rest of the woodgrain pattern is rougher. This is very noticeable. I put the extension segment’s walls on the back, gable end. Also, label the large cartons so that people know which one to open first (floor, roof trusses, instructions; wall segments; roof panels).

And, in spite of telling you not to use a drill, they give you a 1¼” #2 Phillips hex bit for your drill. Huh! THANK YOU FOR MANUFACTURING THIS SHED IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA! Was this shed a challenge? YES.

However, was it worth it? YES! Just be determined and follow the directions! Will I be buying another Lifetime USA-made shed? ABSOLUTELY (just a different size to fit a different space). Actually, probably buy several more of their sheds.

Lifetime’s sales agents were fantastic, even though I purchased the shed from a reseller.

Shed itself it really good, holding up well so far with Texas Summer with 108 temp. However setting it up was not an easy task. Instructions needs to be updated and made easier to follow. with current instructions it takes more than a day to assemble everything by two people, but with proper instructions it could be done in 8 hours, if we had to do it again we now know how to set it up.

Also Base is very important, we choose to pour concrete and keep it flat as it was very important step to start and make sure surface is very flat. Slight difference in surface flatness with cause doors not to be aligned and will require shimming of opposite end for door that is not aligning, also more metal bar support for front and side wall would make it more sterdy and avoid warping of rasin walls over the time, so I thin more metal bar supports would certainly help in long run.

Sky lights are not clear but hazy and there is no way to change.

I bought the shed for storage for all of our boating and entertainment supplies at our marina, that includes a refrigerator. It was purchased in the spring of 2019, and despite being moved 200 feet away from the river each fall, and back in the spring, it continues to stay strong and together.

It’s a little tough to put together, but if done correctly it should last a long time, a maybe, just maybe a Lifetime! We lost the skylight and an end cap to a windstorm, but when I called to order a new one, surprise, it was free of charge! I also have a banquet table and 8 chairs that we use for family events, as well as a folding picnic table that all are in great shape, after years of use.

So, if your thinking of going with plastic from Lifetime, I say go for it!.

I am 58 years old and I have owned and assembled a number of plastic sheds over the years with relatives and friends. I also check out the latest plastic sheds at the lumber stores and Costco. The LIFETIME SHEDS are by far the best built engineered plastic sheds on the market.

As soon as you feel how thick and heavy the individual plastic wall, floor, and roof sections are you know that got your money’s worth. The large assembly screws are strategically placed in several key locations to guarantee the shed is going to stay together.

I have owned other sheds that are poorly engineered and over time the roof pulls away from the top of the wall because it was only held together a couple of screws. LIFETIME has several screws along the roof and wall, plus contours in the plastic that suck in the roof to the wall making sure that it will never come apart.

There are several large screws holding together each wall panel. My shed had three metal support bars per roof panel to handle the snow load. Compare this with the competition. When we recently moved I was able to dismantle my 11 X 21 shed and assemble it without instructions because it is so logically engineered.

During the move I somehow lost a small piece and Lifetime’s Customer Service was excellent to deal with. I highly recommend their sheds.

We bought this shed several years ago and it looks almost as good as new. A few years ago, we discovered that someone had tried to break in while we were out of town. The door lock brackets were bent, along with part of the door hanging hardware, but no one got in! Recently, one piece of corner trim and one skylight were broken during a serious hail storm.

I finally had to call for parts and it was a totally painless experience. Lifetime has a great product, warranty, and customer support department. I should have called sooner! So happy with the service!.

It took a month to receive my shed and about 50 hours to build it. I am a experienced field technician with many years of mechanical experience. The instructions were fairly clear. The front doors were the hardest part taking me about hours to install and adjust.

I think simple barn doors would have been a better choice. I also noticed that the window walls were a lighter color than the solid walls. This to me is a quality control issue. I also wished the walls would have been thicker.

My last shed was also plastic and it lasted 20 years but the walls were twice as thick. Time will tell if it will last through storms and snow. For those reasons I rated it 4 stars. It is a very nice looking shed.

I was planning to build a shed from scratch when I came across this one. Yes, it was more expensive than if I purchased the raw materials myself, but I figure I saved myself about twenty trips to the local lumberyard for all the things I would have not thought about in advance.

Another plus was that the wood was kiln dried and straight vs. what I typically see at the lumberyard. Shipping: It arrived on an over-sized pallet, with a second pallet on top for the roof panels. The shed pieces were well protected from any damage.

The pallets were made out of cedar, so I was able to re-purpose the slats to create door shelves. Instructions: Extremely well done. The were clear and precise, including both 3-D views and exploded views, with suggestions and warnings along the way.

I wished they had suggested staining the body of the shed prior to attaching the trim as it would have made things easier.  But this is a nit! The build: It could be done in one day if you are really motivated.

I took my time over two days, with my wife helping to hold walls in place while anchoring them to each other and to the floor. Shed: It feels solid, it looks great, and it helped us regain garages space.

My husband and I bought this shed kit to fit a preexisting cement pad, and it’s absolutely perfect. It took the two of us two 9-hr days to complete, but it was all do-able for our limited level of skill.

I will say, the most time consuming part was installing the doors and getting them to close correctly. But it is beautiful, the pieces were crafted and shipped with care, and I can tell it will last a long time.

It looks and smells amazing!!! It seems pretty solid and I hope it will stand up to our winter here, just north of Toronto. The shed would have been very easy to put together if I didn’t second guess and overthink each and every step.

That being said, it took my cousin and I four afternoons to put it together. The window is the only thing left and I’ll get to that before the season turns. Customer service was great. From payment to shipping to addressing a concern which ill describe below.

A couple small issues. 1. The plywood for the floor was too big for the floor frame. I used a filler piece to expand the frame to match the plywood (which was the correct size). CS sent me the filler piece.

2. After a few weeks now, some of the finishing nails are popping out. I assume the wood is twisting or bending. Who knows?.

I just bought this last week. The product is not as robust as you would hope for the price. I read the previous reviews carefully. No one mentioned how thin the wood is, you need to be very careful as you are screwing things in.

Although they provide previously drilled holes throughout, put them in too tight or a little off and it will cause the wood to crack. Luckily I had some experienced help. Further, the identical doors should be labled so its clear what is up, down and left vs.

right on the door itself. believe me you, you need to be sure of this. The assembly is relatively easy, it comes almost preassembled and is a lightweight kit that in theory should come together quickly (those are the pluses), but it did not because there is more involved than meets the eye.

Because I knew from the write-ups that it is prone to warping, my guy built, out of pressure treated lumber, a deck for it to sit on. The shelves help stablize it but only to an extent. We then realized it needed not only to be attached to the deck it sits on but weight balanced as well.

You’ll now need a ramp. Also the opening which appears large in the image is quite narrow – I wanted this to hold a small sized snowblower (something that’s about 50″L x 44 H X26. 5 W and 160 lbs – 72.

6 kgs) because I do not have a garage. My snowblower fits but with the narrow opening it would prove very difficult to just slide stuff in and out. The flooring is made from the same thin wood as the rest of the product, it’s easily marred and impacted as you move things over the lip and I think over time will be an issue – it won’t wear well.

We are adding a metal tread to the lip. To deal with the narrow entry, a big design flaw in my opinion, we created a bi-fold door using the front panel and a door. Put the door on three bi-fold hinges and use the hinges supplied to install the front panel to the frame.

Works like a charm! The doors will be slightly off because of the weight of the jeri-rigged door but we adjusted for that when we put the hardware on (which you should do last). Small price to pay for better function.

This puppy needed a lot of jeri-rigging- who could use this as designed outdoors in the winter in Canada??? I will let you know how this winter goes. I don’t say don’t buy, it’s a really good looking product to have outside of your home, but form does not equal function here.

Arrived on time, quality is what I expected, and got it on sale. The shipment came in two boxes and the friendly delivery person delivered to my door. It was easy to assemble and light weight enough to complete on my own with some 2×4 stabilizers for the walls during assembly.

I added a couple of clear coats. I may change out the hinges, as they seem lower quality. No shipping damage items packed well. It was a great experience. Update: This is not weatherproof. There are drops from the ceiling and water/moisture seeping through the seams in the panels.

This is a good option for bikes and outdoor tools. not dry storage items.

Not made of cedar, but of “wood of cedar family” – slightest scratch reveals pure white material underneath. Flimsy construction; no resistance to torque – finished shed twists if upper corner pushed with one hand.

End gables’ heights differed by >6 mm. Middle gable’s bottom warped down in center (below ground) by 5mm. Upper back panel corner warped 120mm from flat, but could be held in place for assembly. Support for side of one bin shelf >10 degrees from horizontal.

Roof attached by screws into roof’s glued-in end bars – one bar fell off roof when I screwed it into shed wall. Wordless instructions poor – often do not show sequence, or how to ensure things are at right angles.

Almost all the screws had to redone to compensate for wonky geometry. Comes in two sturdy boxes (sorry I didn’t keep them).

I would have given this storage shed 5 stars if the assembly instructions were a little better. Other than the instructions, this is a relatively sturdy shed that looks good and is likely to last me for several years.

I would buy it again!.

I love my new shed! I have no idea why I didn’t buy one sooner! It is small enough to not be an eyesore & large enough to contain all of my gear for work (I’m a house painter). The flip up lid & double doors make access extremely easy.

Often able to access what i need simply by lifting the lid. Very convenient! My shed it set up on a concrete patio & even after a hard downpour of rain, everything inside remained high & dry!.

So, they recommend two people assemble this of course and while that would’ve been helpful and probably go a little quicker, I didn’t have an extra pair of hands to help me that day. With a bit of effort and the right tools I was able to get this all together in a couple hours by myself and I’m pretty petite.

The instructions were clear, all parts included and intact. The very next day after it was finished, we got a weird winter storm front with 8″ snowfall, so it was put to the test pretty quick. Even with ice caked in and around the hinges, it delivered on its all weather/waer resistant promise and stayed clean and dry inside (except for where a little pooled in the small divot where the bottom right door latch clicks into the floor piece, but didn’t leak inside or seem to hurt anything).

Looks nice as sheds go and now I have much needed outdoor storage space. Very happy!.

I bought this several years ago for pool storage. It’s outside and in all weather situations. We rarely needed to get into it, yet it really started to not align or close properly. The top hardware to keep the lid open still works great, but the unit itself just isn’t very sturdy.

It was easy to put together and really light, which was nice when assembling. It just doesn’t hold up long term.

An attractive horizontal shed that seems durable. My only criticism is the hinge half’s would not snap together as promised in the assembly instructions. They seem to function ok as separate pieces though, I hope the lid continues to open and close smoothly.

Overall it’s exactly as pictured and so far I’m pleased with it. Delivery was quick and the box and contents were in good shape.

The fit of the flimsy materials really left me disappointed. I don’t expect this shed to hold up very long. First, the good things about it: the instructions are very clear, precise, and understandable.

They include scan codes in some sections that will quickly link to some very good YouTube videos that show the steps being performed. The gas springs seem to work very well in raising the top. Also, this shed is mostly plastic with some metal reinforcement which means no maintenance or rotting.

However there are some issues that certainly need improvement: First of all, the main material is plastic, and most of the screws that hold it together screw into the plastic. The problem is that the plastic is so thin and soft that the screws strip out very easily.

You can only just barely snug them before they strip. In the videos, the guy uses a power driver to tighten them all the way. You certainly cannot do that. If you do use a power driver, only tighten the screws half way and finish snugging them with a hand held screwdriver.

Next, the base is in two pieces, but they do not fit together; they butt in the middle and have gaps at each end of about a quarter inch. The base is also not very sturdy. You have to place it on a solid hard surface, not just leveled ground or gravel.

When you raise the lid and open the doors, the sides become very shaky. If you are short, the top is hard to reach in order to bring it back down; you will need to attach a rope to pull it down. Interestingly, there are 2 bungee cords included.

They are for the sole purpose of attaching to the lid of the shed and to trash can lids underneath in order to pull them off automatically as you raise the lid. Actually the can lids swinging around at face level could be a bit dangerous.

I still haven’t figured out how you would replace the can lids since you have to have the doors closed in order for the top to go down and the cords are pretty short. Seems to be a nice idea that didn’t get thought all of the way through.

I have already put this shed together or else I would return it. I cannot recommend this storage shed if you want a sturdy, long term solution.

This is a great storage box, it looks nice and seems to be robust enough to hold up for a while. So far, no rain has gotten into the boxes and we’ve had plenty of wind, rain and snowfall this winter so far.

I did not anchor either of my boxes to the ground, but I have at least 500 lbs of stuff in each box and neither one has budged, even in strong winds (up to 40 mph). That said, the boxes are all plastic and are a bit flimsy as far as hardware goes.

Everything screws into plastic and it would be easy to over torque hardware and strip out the fastener holes. I have two of these boxes and I bought the second one because the first one was so handy.

It’s essential to assemble on a flat, level, well drained spot. Shipping takes a while, so don’t be in a hurry when you order.

I wated months to get this shed! Played with it in store every time i was in. Finally got it and put it together last week! well the lock you put on the bottome doesnt even latch, and when you close the doors there is a 1 inch gap!! the top of the lid has a small leak at the end of it by the latch.

SO im really disappointed and scared to place things in it do to all the rain we’ve been getting! IF everything seals and is flushed in store then all costumers should expect the same. I wrote the warrenty company, but not sure what theyll do! will the send someone to correct it? replace it with one already built? because its definatly a 2/3 person job, and my dads no always available to help me.

We purchased this shed in August with installation services. If one lives in a rural area, requesting installation is not a good idea as Handy kept cancelling the install because this is a two person job and it was impossible to get two independent contractors to sign up for the job.

I got the installation cost refunded and ended up paying twice as much to get someone to do the work. The shed was installed on a concrete patio against a retaining wall and we had it bolted to the patio.

Overall, it’s a decent sized shed and does the job. There are a few things I want to point out. 1. The shed is not 100% waterproof. Sideways rain will get in, albeit a small amount. Make sure anything sensitive has a cover.

2. The base needs more supports, preferably some at right angles to the existing supports. As this stands, once the plywood is screwed in place, the floor is very bouncy3. The inside supports are great for hanging cords, battery powered lights, etc.

That is a good part of the design. 4. Make sure the shed is bolted down, especially in windy areas. We are in an area that is subject to high winds. We use our shed for telescopes, we put waterproof covers over them when not in use, and it works well to keep them out of the elements and keep them at a temperature that is similar to outside conditions, which is important to reduce condensation issues.

For those who are interested in astronomy, this shed is big enough to accommodate a telescope on a Scopebuggy, and the lip is low enough that a ramp is not needed.

Do not be fooled by the statement that this comes with a foundation kit. It is only a box of thin tin railing. You will need plywood or concrete for the floor. The walls are made of floppy plastic. Any mild wind will make assembling this flimsy structure extremely difficult.

Despite following instructions to the letter, many of the holes had to be re-drilled in order to attach the roof and one gable end. I DO NOT recommend purchasing a shed that resembles a Kleenex box in structural integrity.

We received a defective door panel. I called US Polymers, and they respond that it must be reported within 2 days of receipt!! There are 300 parts, 4 hours to put together. What a joke. This company does not stand behind its product.

I highly suggest you buy from another brand.

The 2 most important things that I took away from this building is to take your time and spend a few extra dollars to build a solid foundation. Also, give yourself the whole weekend to put this together.

Once this shed is put together, it’s very sturdy, it’s big, and it looks great too.

My house came with a rotted shed that needed to be replaced and I got the Arrow Commander 10′ x 20′ Storage Building and it has become the best/worst purchase I have ever made. This storage building is beyond roomy and it has become my main housing unit.

The construction of this building is extremely solid and has stood up to several harsh Chicago winters without any changes in its physical appearance. I was amazed that the roof stood up to 20 inches of snow this past winter and it didn’t collapse or bend.

The downside to this storage building is that during the winter it seems to be colder inside than outside and the exact opposite during the summer. The reason why I say this unit is a bad purchase is because it is so spacious that I have been buying more things than I need just because I can accommodate more things.

I have two lawn mowers, a snow blower, a workstation, a car, and a plethora of random tools stored with room to spare. I would definitely recommend the Arrow Commander 10′ x 20′ Storage Building because it can almost take the place of a garage and doesn’t require the same amount of upkeep.

I have just added this storage shed to the back of my home, and I love it. It doesn’t take up a whole lot of room yet still provides ample space for a ton of different things. I have so much inside already, and I do plan to add more.

I love that the outside is so attractive so it doesn’t negatively effect my house or cause people to stare in an unattractive way. The storage shed is made of steel so it is strong and durable. There is a nice warranty that comes along with the purchase, and you can expect this product to be weather resistant.

We had a pretty rough winter, and I happily report no problems with my shed. The shed is large enough to hold a couple of riding mowers, a boat or various odds and ends, which is the use that I have for the shed.

This was a great purchase and I love my shed. It helps me stay organized without cluttering up my home with my hobbies.

We bought this shed for an excellent price and found the construction to be fun and straight forward. I bought more 3″ screws as I preferred them to nails in some locations. I protected the floor with 2 coats of floor poly prior to construction.

Take time to produce a level and square surface, and construction will flow much easier. The floor will be your construction area. The instructions were very good, and it was easy to determine what parts are what.

You may find some extra pieces for shipping protection/separation. l used these as additional floor and rafter supports. While not required, I wanted to beef up the rafters, as Minnesota winters can drop a lot of snow.

As this shed will be visible from the road, we bought two of the large windows, for lighting and curb appeal. I will make shutters from the cutouts for the windows. As I wanted the window in the middle of the side, I used additional framing for them.

I also added some gable vents for ventilation. The windows are single hung, with a built-in screen. For the roof, you will need to buy drip edging, tar paper, shingles, and roofing nails. The instructions provide that information as well.

The building is very sturdy and easy to decorate to complement the home. We are very satisfied customers.

Almost every board in the kit was warped. Ended up buying new pieces and recutting the trusses. The composite pieces were good. Instructions were “ok”. Purchased outdoor screws to use in place of the nails provided.

Overall it finally came together and is pretty sturdy. Price was good, got it on sale so I figured buying the additional boards and screws was still worth the cost.

The price was too good to be true. We ended up spending $200 in extra lumber to make up for not only the warped boards included with this kit but also the boards and hardware that were simply missing from this kit.

Not the best experience, but now we know better.

This is our second Heartland shed. The first one was perfect, no leaks, no problems at all. A single gentleman named Slavik constructed our shed in two days. Our second shed has been a different story altogether.

A company called Backyard Products now handles the construction part of the purchase. They send out people, qualified or not, to build the sheds. The person they send to construct our shed listed his specialty as fence building.

We knew there were going to be some issues when he installed the roof supports in the wrong direction then had to remove them and install them in the correct direction. On the second day he brought his son and his son’s friend to help finish the shed.

The first we had. 05″ of rain the roof leaked in several different areas, there were nail pops (some as much as 2″) over the loft and ceiling not to mention all the areas where the nails had completely missed the 2’x4”s.

We had a building inspector come out to inspect the shed and there were many areas he deemed “unsafe” and in immediate need of repair. It took weeks for Backyard Products have the original installer come out to fix the problems.

Still no certain about the roof leakage because it has rained. Very disappointed. BUYER BEWARE!.

Finding a shed and builder during the pandemic was a challenge. I was able to purchase my Heartland shed through Lowe’s. I ended up having several phone conversations with the local office, as the Lowe’s rep knew little about the Heartland products he was selling.

The staff at the local office were extremely helpful in identifying the right shed for my needs. I ordered a 10×12 with the intent of using it as a potting shed and to store gardening supplies. It was up in a day and the install crew was knowledgeable.

I have had the shed for almost a year and I love it. I only wish I could’ve gotten a bigger one (during the pandemic they would not build any over the 10×12 size). I enjoyed my experience with Heartland and wouldn’t hesitate to use them again!.

Great shed, lots of space. I got rid of our cooled storage unit, so I wouldn’t have that monthly expense anymore. And this was perfect! Great utility for storage, and all of my lawn equipment. Great pegboard for organization, loft storage for items not regularly used, and just a great set up.

I still have room for more stuff after I transferred everything over. Couldn’t have gotten a better shed. I got the 10×12. It’s worth it for the extra space!.

It”s hiding behind my guest house, with all the extra stuff I don’t want to see. Perfect! Just be aware that it will cost around $1000 to have someone put it together.
