20 Best Shower Doors For Tubs (2023 Updated)

Just finished my install. Couple things: The measurement for the top bar seems a bit short. Mine could easily be 2-3mm longer and would still fit properly. Caulk forgives a multitude of sins. Like a dummy, I forgot to trim the bottom bar equally on both sides, and ended up with the lower guide block not matching the mounting hole position.

No problem, I took a page from another reviewer and just glued it down with silicon, making sure to fill in those holes with caulk as well. The guide block still hides them anyway, it’s just offset by about an inch.

I’m disappointed at how short the frame is. I’m 5’10” and standing in my tub, the top of my head is even with the top of the frame. I’m worried that water will bounce off my head when hair washing and end up on the floor.

Similarly, the top of the glass doors isn’t contained within the top frame; there’s about a 1/2″ gap between the top of the glass and the bottom of the frame, and water could get through there as well.

We’ll see tomorrow morning. Be careful when you get to the step for mounting the rollers on the glass doors. There’s a contradiction between the pictures. You don’t want to start mounting the doors and find out the rollers are mounted backwards.

Since the doors are only coated with the water repellency treatment on one side, it takes some thought to get everything right. I put tape on the glass showing which side faced in, and which door was supposed to be closest to the faucet.

Once you do that, look at the top bar that the rollers will mount into. It’s fairly easy to figure out the way the rollers have to mount, once you have everything marked like that. The hardware bags are a bit mixed up.

there aren’t enough screws in the bag listed as the one for mounting the left and right side pieces, but there’s another bag that’s labeled “Extra hardware” and between them, there are actually more than you need.

The top bar actually doesn’t mount to anything; it just lays on top of the left and right side pieces. The considerable weight of the doors pulls it down, obviously, so there’s no danger, but just be aware of that.

I’d never seen a design like that. The bottom track doesn’t use any hardware either. You just glue it to the top of your tub with silicon. That’s handy, since you’re not drilling into the top of your tub.

Make SURE your side piece go all the way down to the surface of the tub, though, because that’s what keeps the bottom track from moving, if the silicon doesn’t hold. My neighbor loaned me one of those suction cup tools glass installers use, which made putting the doors on the upper track much easier, a one-man job, actually.

Without it, two people are the way to go, as the glass is too wide to horse around easily.

The door is great! Once we got it hung properly. The Dreamline customer service is fantastic and they bent over backwards to help us get it installed properly! They sent us new rollers first, then a “skirt” for the inside of the door to keep water from splashing outside the track.

The one thing we would recommend, so that people like us can install these doors without so many calls to customer service, would be a better explanation and some pictures in the installation guide of how the rollers work and what to do when the doors don’t slide smoothly (or at all!).

So, the set screws had come apart inside the rollers, from our unscrewing them too far, and then once that happened, we could adjust all we wanted to but nothing happened. Once my husband took apart one of the rollers, he figured this out.

The thing that helped us the most was when the customer service guy told us to lift the doors a bit and put a shim underneath while we were adjusting the doors, to keep the full weight from hanging on them while adjusting.

Things like that ought to be part of the installation guide.

Purchased this shower door to go with our upgraded walk in shower. I got the Encore Semi-Frameless door with satin black hardware. It took me a while to order doors because I was unsure and was trying to stay within a budget.

I did splurge a little and although a less warranty with the satin black hardware, I am so glad I chose Dreamline Shower Doors. Makes such nice difference in our bathroom and everythings seem biger, even inside of the shower.

I would definitely recommend Dreamline Shower Doors.

The photo in the ad is a good representation. The glass and metal fittings are very well made. NOTE- The door only swings out. The wall must be perfectly plumb vertically and the tub edge needs to be perfectly level and smooth.

It is best to use a smooth surface tile. I would not recommend this around children. The door and wall can be easily damaged if pushed inward too much.

Installed this in a guest bath that we recently remodeled. Didn’t want a shower curtain to cover the new tile work and didn’t want one of those ugly sliding shower doors you can purchase at your local HD or Lowe’s.

Local glass places were estimating $1000 plus and that was way out of our budget. I stumbled across this on Home Essentials Direct almost by accident and figured I’d give it a try. Myself and my brother-in-law installed this in about 40 min.

It really goes easy with two people just because you are dealing with a giant piece of glass. Kudos to the people that did this by themselves. We used masonry bits combined with a hammer drill for the install and it could not have gone smoother.

Make sure you put the door on top of the 5/8″ shim when measuring for the holes. We used a Home Depot wooden ruler cut in half and stacked on top of each other, topped with a Home Depot paint stirrer.

This measured exactly 5/8″ and set perfect on the top of the tub. By the way this is necessary for the placement of the gasket.

I decided to put this in my guest bath. I am building a new house with lots of intricate tile work. I called a glass company and they wanted around $1600 for my master bathroom so I decided to give this a try for the guest one to save some money.

I have a plumber friend that is very handy and he installed this in about an hour with a little help holding stuff in place. It was a little tricky so I am glad it wasn’t me alone trying to do it. But the end result is VERY nice! I love the way it looks and the brushed nickel goes well with the rest of the bathroom.

My only con was that my shower head is a little higher than normal because I have 9 foot ceilings. We really had to adjust the head to point down or too much water was spilling out. We contemplated putting in a rain shower head that goes straight out a bit and then straight down but in the end I think we adjusted it enough that it will be fine.

For the average height head this door should be jut fine. All in all I probably saved at least $500 using this cool looking door instead of having the glass company fabricate one for me. Pros: Looks great, great priceCons: A taller option would have been nice.

I can only swing door out a little bit because I have a toilet right by it. But can still reach knobs ok.

Not that bad of a install. Instructions were ok, but not great. Box came in severely damaged, but luckily nothing was broken or missing. My biggest issue after the install is the door wont stay closed.

The bottom track mounts to the tub and it isnt perfectly level, but damn close. The Bubble just barely touches the level line so its not like its out a lot. However there is zero resistance with the door rollers so it slowly creeps open.

The back seal that goes between the door and panel doesnt actually touch the stationary panel otherwise thatd be enough to keep it closed. But it doesnt so. At any rate, for the price these are nice, but not great.

When it comes to buying a framed/semi framless shower door their are a lot of options in doing so. I started my search by the size that I needed for my shower width and height, this is important so make sure you take that accurately.

Take in account the look you are going for and the goal of use. A lot of these products are you get what you pay for, so take that in stride. When I narrowed it down to my size options I started reviewing the brands and specs that made sense to me.

This was for a guest bathroom that hardly ever gets used so I did not want to drop 1500 on a frame. This item was also in stock and shipped/arrived fairly quick. It was packaged well with no internal damage to my glass.

I completely installed this in one evening with a friends help and I had never done one. Im handy so it may take longer for a first time home project individual. This is a really clean look and built better than other brands This frame can be used on a rounded or square wall to tub transition.

The width was adjustable (by cutting) for the perfect fit. Only thing I wish on this frame is the bottom channel piece the pieces of glass side through were a little more snug compared the the glass.

Reason being is the panel of glass will move and rattle (from opening to back of shower) not enough to matter and like I said its a guest bathroom I don’t use ever so works for our home fine ** Things to double check for; 1.

The frame can do your size and or can be trimmed to fit width wise. 2. Height can’t be adjusted for proper fitment on most so double check the application and measurement. 3. Confirm wether the wall to tub transition is rounded or squared, some frames can’t do either.

Highly recommend opening the spec sheet and review install instructions to make sure yours can be installed per instruction.

I would have given 5 stars, but the doors are too short. There is no adjustment to be made to the side rails, only the top and bottom are cut. Even with the doors on the lower adjustment there’s about a 3/4 inch gap at the bottom which allows water to splash out of the tub.

Otherwise, the components are solid quality and well made.

It’s a well-made door and it looks really nice. My problem is that I paid about $80 extra for aquaglide xp coating, and it turns out only one side of it is coated (which I think is pretty cheap on the manufacturer’s part).

We only realized this after our installers put it in, and because of the way my bathroom is laid out, they installed the doors facing the other way for the handles to be in the right spot. Because of the way the track is made, we can only flip them around and not switch their positions.

So that extra cost was kind of a waste. But overall I’m happy with the look, the quality, and the function.

I bought two of these doors after quite a bit of research. I had wanted the Dreamline Essence H because it only required a 2 3/4 inch threshold but I later found out from Dreamline that the Essence H had been discontinued.

Dreamline recommended the Sapphire as a similar unit. The Sapphire requires a 4 inch threshold, so I was a bit concerned since the tubs were both very close to that. Anyway, the professional was able to install the shower doors with a little bit of adjustment.

They are absolutely stunning. They glide like a dream and because of the bypass doors, are easy to clean. I strongly recommend this shower door to those looking for something really unique and at the same time easy to clean.

Basco is a good product at a reasonable price. This is actually my second set of Basco shower doors. I had replaced my old glass doors with new Basco doors. The new doors looked so good, I ordered & installed another set for my second bathroom.

Very modern looking glass. Looks so good in my restroom. Ive installed two other glass doors in my home so I have somewhat experience doing this. Instructions were easy to follow. Just take your time and understand each part of the install.

The adjustability allows it to fit great even in not-so plum/leveled tub and walls. Thick glass and rolls smoothly. Only thing I would change, is having the option to have both doors slide instead of one side being fixed.

I hate having to reach over to turn on the water. Other then that, highly recommended!.

Love the quality of the glass, metal slides. Really beautiful in my new bathroom. Hated the shipping company. They said one time so we waited around all day. Meanwhile, they didn’t show up until an hour after our window time of 4 hours.

And, they seemed confused that it was glass and fragile.

It was delivered today, We didn’t open the packaging yet. I will leave additional review when we install this shower door. . Shipping took a little longer, but it didn’t postpone my project.

This shower door is so nice that I felt I needed to write a review. The quality is so great. Downsides- the glass doors are incredibly heavy, so you will need strong people to help lift. Also, the doors arrive packaged in a wood box.

This is great because the doors are really nicely protected, but means you have to figure out how to dispose of the wood afterwards. Overall, I am so happy with this purchase!.

I bought and installed this unit. It looked great and I was generally very happy with it, especially at the price. Then one day, after 9 months of daily use, my 9-year-old daughter was closing the door with a normal amount of force and it shattered, crashing to the floor, causing a few minor abrasions and creating one very shocked and scared little girl.

I’m still struggling to understand how the door could have broken given the design of the unit. Top and bottom rollers prevent the glass from popping off the track. The stabilizer that holds the bottom of the door has a rubberized bushing to prevent glass from touching sharp metal edges (which certainly could cause shattering).

And rubber bumpers at either end of the track prevent the door from hitting the wall, even when closed with fairly significant force (e. g. accidental slamming if you slipped or something). Basic usage should never result in this type of catastrophic failure.

Needless to say, based on this experience I would be very hesitant to purchase again.

I bought and installed this unit and about 9 months of used the static door collapsed in the middle of the night. Thanks good nobody was present at that moment because it would be even more traumatic than it has been for everybody in my house.

Before I bough it, I read one negative review and for some reason I though that it may be the child’s fault and I apologize for that. I just want to let everybody know that if you care about your money, it’s better for your own sake to go at the store and buy it, other wise you are in a high risk to loose everything that involve your transaction.

In my case, I have to buy a new door and pay the installation all over again because this seller doesn’t take responsibility for selling this product of such bad quality. When you buy something like this, you expect it that it last for long time.

This didn’t even last one year. I wouldn’t recommend anybody to buy this product! stay away from it!!!.

This is gorgeous! I have not installed this yet, but from what I see, it looks to be very well-made. Everything was packed extremely well, the instructions are clear. Should be easy to install. I expect removing the old doors to be more of an issue.

This is an excellent product and I am extremely happy with my purchase, however I do have a few recommendations. When the door is closed against the wall, it tends to roll back a little bit until the seal on the door is not making contact with the wall or wall seal (purchased separately).

Adjusting the rollers does not seem to help. However, if there were an o-ring installed on the rail, it could be adjusted by rolling it up against the roller in the closed position so that it would provide some resistance for the roller to have to go over before the door opened.

I was able to wrap some tape around the rail to perform this same function, however it does not look very good and it is too much of a hastle to remove the rail again in order to install an o-ring. One other thing I didn’t know is that muriatic acid causes stainless steel to rust.

I used muriatic acid to initially clean my tile floor and the fumes caused all of the stainless on the door to rust. I’m sure other customers have experienced the same, since these doors are commonly used on showers with tile floors.

It would have been a helpful tip if this were mentioned in the installation instructions/manual. The door seals provided were also not the greatest. The flapper pieces on the overlapping door edges are not long enough to extend to the other glass and this is the source of the leak to put a puddle on the floor after I shower.

Bought for walk in shower I installed. I couldn’t be happier with the quality. Very heavy duty and expensive looking. Price was a bit more than others but totally worth it. Going to remodel master bath and will definitely look for similar door or other offered by VIGO.

How beautiful is this door. Just the right touch of modern to update bathroom my smaller bathroom in my 105 yr. Old cottage. easy to install. You may have to seal the bottom of door Something other than what comes in the package.

I’m not expecting longevity. The door handles stick onto the glass–peel off the backing (like a bandaid) and just stick one on each side of the door. I can’t imagine those will stay put forever. There’s a plastic gasket for the door to stop against and a plastic sweep on the bottom; we’re not using either one.

We are omitting the threshold except for the part under the fixed glass and floor pivot and placing the glass close enough to the floor and jamb that the threshold and door sweep are not required. We installed in a zero threshold, roll-in shower.

In addition to the aforementioned alterations, we also had to shim the shower side of the threshold under the fixed piece of glass and pivot because our shower slants downward from the front to back of the shower.

It’s not fully assembled yet but we expect it’ll work just fine. There are more plastic parts than I’d like and the quality is far inferior, but I think this shower door will do the job and look nice too because we are omitting the parts that do not look nice and seem likely to fall apart.

It will also cost about $3350 less than the fancy custom glass in our primary bedroom bath, hence four stars.

If I had known installation was going to be this bad I would have returned it. Here is a list of the problems I faced: – There two screws at the top of the shower that hold the bar in place are self tapping and the aluminum door jamb is not tapped! It was very difficult to install those two screws.

Why is this not already tapped by the factory?? Why make the customer do it? – The door jamb is held onto the wall by 6 screws. You better make sure your drill holes for the wall anchors are precise to within the millimeter, otherwise you won’t be able to screw the it into the wall.

The holes for the screws have absolutely zero tolerance for error. – The instruction manual is generally very unclear. – The bottom aluminum strip is held in place with just silicone. This is not suitable, a real fastening mechanism should have been used.

– The door stopper is a rubber strip that adheres to the wall with just a sticky pad along its length. This part is cheap and will come off. Again, a proper fastener should have been used for this part.

Overall it is clear that quality was sacrificed in order to offer a cheap product.

I purchased this door in 2016 and installed it myself. Its a very solid, heavy door and took a helper to install. Make sure your walls are plumb and square to tub. The hinges are very good quality. They are silent, smooth, and easy to clean.

I use this shower daily, and clean everything on a regular basis. A tiny amount of mold usually appears after 3 weeks at the bottom inside corner where the door meets the fixed panel. The plastic door strip to keep water in did crack near the hinge, but its a minor thing.

I plan to purchase a replacemment. I have another bathroom im remodeling and plan to use an Aqualux door for that as well. Affordable, well made, easy to install. Very satisfied.

We bought this several months ago and it was easy in install, and looks great. As we had a slanted ceiling on the inside of the shower, we needed to install the stability bar on the outside corner, but this works greats and is not really noticeable.

I checked this prior to the purchase, so no surprise. It really adds to the bathroom. Also, we did not cut the waterproof flange correctly, so called DreamLine and they immediately sent us a replacement at no cost to us.

I bought this unit 4 months ago and am very satisfied with it so far. I had it installed professionally. The quality is very good and it looks more expensive than the actual cost. The door is rigid, solid and the door swings with no movement at all.

This is a great quality shower door. But as others have stated, the instruction manual is TERRIBLE. Way too confusing for left or right drain pans. Need separate clearer instructions for each drain side.

Not uncommon to drill the sides in the wrong place. I went on Utube and found an assembly video. It was for the opposite drain side but was easier to adapt. Do it yourselfers shouldn’t have to struggle with unclear instructions as it could be the only one they install.

After a shower, water splash out from three areas. First, from both side of door, because the bumper stops the door to totally close, leaving a gap around 5mm; Second, also in the middle, where the two doors overlapping, has a gap of 22mm wide between doors.

Though they overlapped each other by about 65mm, water still bounce out, but less than both side. Water is not directly leak out, but bounce out from these gaps. Snap-in rubber edge seals should be included with this door.

Make sure that you order the correct door for your shower installation. After waiting for 6 weeks for the arrival, we spent an hour trying to install the wrong door that was ordered by an associate at the store.

We finally called MAAX directly and they told us that we needed the Duel door. So we had drilled holes in the walls that were not necessary trying to install the previous door. It can be very confusing with so many door styles.

The door does look nice now that it has been installed correctly.
