Great machine, easy to use and setup. Comes with a few extra pressure foots for doing zippers, buttons. Wish it came with printed manual for stitch referral. But can be done online. Feed dog cannot be shut off but comes with a cover plate instead.

A little difficult to find different pressure foots for different tasks in my area as Canadian Tire and other stores don’t carry so you have to look elsewhere. Overall, happy with my purchase.

I bought this for my daughters Bday. All of her friends have started sewing, so she had this on the top of her list. After a lot of research I decided to purchase this machine as it is a great value.

She had limited experience using a sewing machine in the past. The simplistic functionality helped her get projects up and running in no time. She has been impressed with the durability of the machine especially while working on her jeans.

It sews through several layers of jean fabric and patches effortlessly. Comes with tons of accessories! We have been super happy with this purchase.

Save your money, don’t purchase this machine. In the 2 months I have had this machine it has already broken three needles, the thread constantly loops at the bottom all the time no matter what your tension is at.

The thread also constantly knots. It makes alot of noise now like knocking, rubbing and if I try to go a bit faster the whole thing shakes and vibrates. I have contacted singer on multiple occasions and apparently talked to a manager and after I tell them what’s wrong and I give them all the information they want they ignore me.

Singer has horrible customer service. So save your money and get a better one.

This is a great machine for sewing and quilting, with excellent stitch quality. It’s good for quilt piecing, quilting, garment sewing and decor sewing. It has a metal frame and metal parts inside, much better than the usual plastic disposable junk machines that are out there.

Most of the bad reviews here seem to come from those who bought machines that were refurbished but sold as new, and from user error. You have to match the needle to the type of fabric and thread that you are using.

And it is important with vertical horizontal bobbins to THREAD AND INSERT THE BOBBIN CASE PROPERLY. DON’T use cheap thread that will lint up your machine! And thread your machine right, and follow all of the instructions in the manual, and you should have no problems.

I already sent you a review but got no response, so here goes again. On-line ads touted this machine as able to sew through 8-12 layers of heavy denim, leather, even a wooden yardstick! Well, maybe but to me, it’s no better than any other sewing machine and in some ways, worse.

It stalls, going through 5 or 6 layers of COTTON. In the threading process, it has chintzy-looking thread holders – and a lot of them! It was difficult to loosen the interior (traction) wheel in order to wind the bobbin: I could not get a good grip on it.

Made for an 8-year-old’s hand size, maybe? When I sewed my first pieces together (as instructed, sew for 2 minutes due to possible oil discharge on new machines), the bottom thread was straight and the upper thread was loopy, despite the fact that I had adjusted the tensions as the instructions suggested.

I had to play with it a bit, to get the machine to sew with even tension above & below, but instructions say to put it on 4: mine is past the 5, heading to 6, to get it to sew correctly. After 10 or 15 minutes sewing, the bobbin thread broke and the machine was absolutely FROZEN.

I could not budge the hand wheel forward or backward. I tried everything and finally ended up removing the two bobbin holders from beneath the machine surface (you have to take the plastic storage bin out in order to do this): Eventually, I was able to grab the broken piece of thread and dislodge it.

BUT THEN, I was left with a torn-apart bobbin area and it took MANY attempts before I was able to put it back correctly. This wasted 1/2 hour of my time – on a brand new machine!!! I have sewn for 50 years and to me, this is NOT a quality piece of equipment, nor a “user-friendly” machine.

I gave it a “2” because with several adjustments, it did sew. But it is NOT the wonderful, heavy duty machine it is advertised to be. It is just mediocre, typical made in Taiwan quality. I bought it to make masks, because my old Singer gave up the ghost.

Sorry I picked Janome. I will be returning it as soon as I can get into the store. Thanks for asking.

Horrible machine. I’ve tried about a dozen when teaching kid’s sewing classes. This machine is great if you want to discourage sewing. Of those 12, about half would not work at all right our of the box.

I could get a few working with effort. Those that did work were hard to thread, have few controls and no light (have they added a light, yet? ). I’ve dealt with two other owners trying to fix them when the timing was off.

I’ve been working with machines for a few decades and have only seen one other machine that had a timing issue.

I have really enjoyed my machine! I was concerned about the quality of this machine. When I received it I fell in love with it right away. I had a piece of material and decided to give it a try. I made a cute apron and was VERY pleased with the way this machine worked! It had some fancy stitches that I tried out and was so pleased with the ease they worked.

I am very glad I purchased this machine. I know I made the right choice!! I will definitely recommend this machine !!!.

I love my new sewing machine! I’m not entirely new to sewing but I’m also not skilled. I wanted something that was easy to learn on, portable, and durable. This checks all those boxes PLUS it’s such a pretty color! It runs smoothly and QUIET and so far has had no issues in anything I e done with it.

I think this would be a great machine for beginners or even to teach a young child. Highly recommend.

I was brand new to sewing and used the Hobbycraft Midi Machine for a couple of months making face masks, bunting, and dog bandanas. I wanted something with a little more power and was looking at the Singer Promise, and the Singer 3223.

I decided I didn’t need the extra stitches offered by the 3223 so settled on the Promise. This machine is fantastic. It is so simple to set up, use, and re-thread, and it is noticeably more powerful than the Midi.

I have been able to make a bag and cushion cover with this machine, and it powered through multiple layers of fabric with no issue. It offers touch sensitive speeds through the pedals, and has an inbuilt light.

I don’t find it particularly noisy, and whilst heavier than the Midi, it’s light enough to carry around. I’m so pleased with this machine and the staff at Exeter store were fantastic in helping me choose and continue to be fantastic whenever I visit the store.

I would highly recommend this machine for beginners or professionals alike.

This 4411 model has been amazing and I haven’t yet used all the settings. The machine isn’t heavy, but has enough weight that it doesn’t move when in use, making it really stable. It’s super easy to set up, but I relied on a playlist I found for this model on youtube to help (sewingmastery).

Without it, I wouldn’t have figured out certain things that have made a huge difference. (No connection or affiliation with them, I’m just grateful for those videos!) It’s easy to quickly switch thread colors and settings, super easy to thread the bobbins, and it’s fast.

So far I’ve been sewing cotton and multiple layers of canvas-like materials with zero issues. I like that I can see the bobbin and know how much thread is left during projects. I also like the compartment for accessories it comes with.

I’m not a sewing pro, but coming from a beginner/student sewing machine, to this one has been a huge, happy leap. I’m so happy with the decision to purchase this machine, it has tremendous value for the price!.

I bought this machine recently after looking up reviews online for a small affordable sewing machine for beginners and this one came up top. We all know the brand Singer does not disappoint and I am so pleased with my purchase.

I was intimidated at first as I grew up sewing everything by hand but if you can read a manual, then operating this machine could not be any easier. I also went on youtube to find a Singer 4411 video about threading as I am a visual learner and I was scared of breaking the brand new machine – it made so much sense and I was able to test my first stitches within an hour of setting up the machine.

I immediately used it to mend my “ao dai” with broken sleeves and now I am all ready to celebrate lunar new year in my ao dai thanks to this machine. I can see myself using it to re-purpose old clothes into trivets, pillows and other nifty things around the house.

I have a regular sewing machine but I needed something that was more suitable for thicker layers of fabric, etc. So far I’m happy with its performance. It has no trouble with layers that my standard Brother would struggle with.

Does it have the bells and whistles of a computerized machine? No. My regular Brother is computerized so I do miss the small things that a computerized machine can do vs a non-computerized machine. But it makes up for it by handling more heavy duty sewing jobs.

Time will tell if it continues to be a good machine. It by no means compares to an industrial heavy duty sewing machine, but I think it will be good for your household heavy duty sewing jobs.

I received this product for free from Brother in exchange for my honest opinion/review of the the product. I have been a seamstress for about 40 years. I find that Brother Strong & Tough is a very nice sewing machine, well made and sturdy.

I watched some YouTube videos to learn about the basics of this machine, such as threading and bobbin winding. I find it takes a little practice to become familiar with it. I am especially pleased with the needle threader, something my other machine doesn’t have.

I also like the portability. I am having fun using this sewing machine and learning about the different functions, 53 built in stitches, button holes and button sewing. This machine is designed to do heavy duty stitching, it can tackle several layers of heavy blue jean fabric.

I have tested it on stiff, tough fabrics and it sews through them without a problem. I find the foot pedal to be light weight and it slides on my hardwood floor. I might attach a non-slip material underneath it.

It would be nice to have a magnetic area somewhere on the machine to hold pins.

I purchased this machine yesterday. This is my first machine and I don’t know how to sew nor did I know what options or features to look for. Set up was easy, I was able to look up a brother video and I was set.

When I lower the presser foot I am unable to move the thinnest fabric. I searched the internet all day to figure out how to release the tension. I finally came to this site and it says this model doesn’t have an option for adjustment.

I am pretty unhappy with this because Joann fabric said they will not take any machines back once opened. Has anyone had this issue or know of a fix ???.

I’ve only had this machine for about 10 days, so the glow of new discovery is still burning bright!I bought this machine to replace a 40 year + machine which had recently begun to show it’s age. i settled on this one because it is said to be heavy duty, and i sew with a variety of materials.

this machine was incredibly easy to use right out of the box! i would have to agree with several reviewers that not having a printed manual sucks – some of the problems and frustrations other reviewers mentioned probably could have been resolved with a manual in hand.

That said, the machine is very quiet, light-weight, and i LOVE the speed control! if you are a beginner, or are sewing tricky projects, speed control is a wonderful feature. I have not tested all the stitches (and there are loads of them); haven’t tried the needle threader- frankly, it looks harder to manipulate than just sticking the thread thru the hole.

This machine makes you want to sew!.

My mom gifted this machine to me for my birthday and it’s my first time using a sewing machine. I made sure to follow all the instructions in the manual and have had great success with it. I’ve already sewn 2 dresses.

Any issues I had were because of an error on my part and I could fix it by looking up the issue in the manual or youtube. I love that it came with so many presser feet, and I’ve had fun with all the stitch styles it can do.

I only had issues in the beginning with the bobbin but haven’t had any since. I’m very happy with this machine.

I purchased this because I needed a step up from the dinosaur I was currently using. I was so excited to receive this machine because of all the great reviews. Soon I realized this was not the machine for me.

This is machine is great and well built and it had no problems. BUT. I just can’t sew when my material is feeding through the machine and has a mind of its own. My material would constantly go to the right and I would have to try to pull it back.

Too much struggling to get a straight line. The guide plate for measurements is WAY off (no matter if you are using stitch 00 or stitch 01). I was trying to make something with a half inch seam allowance and it always was coming up short.

SO please take that into account if you are going to purchase this machine. Switching between stitches and figuring out which one is the best was easy to accomplish. Someone in an earlier comment said something about the needle being too far back and I agree.

It was hard to see what I was doing sometimes. The light is too dim. I would still have to put an extra lamp behind the machine to see what I was doing half the time. The presser foot made it hard to see especially if I was following a line or something.

All in all, I would not purchase this or any of the Project Runway machines again. This machine wasn’t for me but it doesn’t mean it won’t be for you. Just telling what my biggest gripes were about this machine before I returned it to the store.

Fabulous machine at a brilliant price, with a really good free quilter’s package. The service was above and beyond – the drive belt had slipped off in transit (due to the courier putting the machine on it’s end!) and Dave and the engineer helped me get it back on by filming a video and sending it to me! I really appreciated this as I didn’t want to send my new machine back (although sending it back for repair was obviously offered!).

So so happy. I could have bought this at the same price from Amazon, but preferred to buy direct from an independent company. The machine is sewing beautifully and is a real joy to use. I’ve upgraded from my 7025 to this computerised model and it is really easy to use.

The free quilter’s package is not just for quilters as it includes an extension table, several really good feet and a walking foot (£30 of anyone’s money!). Thank you so much for such a good machine and all the help with getting it going.

FANTASTIC! What a pleasure to sew with! It has all the fancy features I wanted and, boy, do they make life more simple – the auto thread cutter at the push of a button cuts both the bottom thread and the top thread.

This alone is amazing. Then there’s the drop in easy load bobbin – it is a breeze and takes about 1 second to load and ready to go.

We ordered two of these for fun Mother/Daughter COVID projects. We carefully unpackaged one of the machines and watched the DVD together. Within minutes, my teenager was off & running doing her own masks, purses and bucket hats.

No more Im bored talk. All functions work nicely. Were impressed with the cutter, needle threader & no foot pedal! Got a fantastic machine to myself as well! I was very impressed with the shop that shipped from Alabama to California in just a few days! Fantastic!.

Ok, this may be a pretty lengthy review so tl:dr it is a pretty good machine and definitely a significant improvement to the machine that I had. So diving into it, I knew going into it that this machine does not have the greatest reviews, but I went ahead with buying it anyway because I really wanted the stitches and this machine was in my budget.

Also it is a huge improvement on the machine that I had before which was an old Singer machine that was my grandmothers. That machine really helped me learn how to sew, but it was beginning to show its age, and I didnt want to ruin it with all of the projects that I have been doing.

Fast forward, I got this mahcine and I was so incredibly excited to receive this machine. It was shipped in just the original box, so it was a bit beat up by the time it got here. When I opened the box, the whole thing had an overwhelming smell of cigerette smoke, which for me is a bit of a problem because I have asthma.

However, I let it sit in an open, well ventilated area for a few days and a good amount of the smell disappated, Another thing was that the machine itself came with a bent needle. So I set it up and got to sewing, but despite everything being in the right way the thread kept bunching on the back of my project and the machine wouldget stuck and give me a C4 error.

This normally would indicate a bobbin or threading problem, but everything was in correctly. So I consulted a sewing friend who asked me if I had checked the needle, and sure enough the very tip of the needle was bent ever so slightly.

May not seem like a big problem, but those of you who sew know this makes a big difference. I swapped in a brand new needle and it has been sewing like a dream ever since. I have noticed that sometimes a few of the stitches in my project are a little ‘loose’ per say, but this is not a big deal to me.

Overall I have been really happy with the machine. Once the machine is set it is pretty easy to use and I have had fun trying out all of the different stitches. I have been able to fix some clothing that needed mending, and I have also been able to make lots of masks for people who need them.

I was in the middle of making masks for the Covid-19 pandemic when I had to purchase a new machine because my Sharp sewing machine seized up on me and stopped working. The Singer C5200 machine was the only one I could order online on a Saturday night as all other sewing machines were sold out.

It seemed like a good deal when I originally purchased it but I came to find out that Joann Fabric had the exact same machine at half the price. I did not read customer comments until after I made the purchase.

The common theme was that the machine jammed up when sewing. I have been sewing for over 40 years and know my way around a sewing machine. When I first received the machine I thoroughly read the instruction on how to wind the bobbin and thread the machine.

I started sewing the day that I got it and it worked like a charm. After sewing over 60 masks for the past three weeks 4 needles bent and broke while sewing and the stitching keeps getting all clumped up and the machine stops working when Im sewing polyester/cotton fabric.

Ive had issues with 100% cotton fabric as well. I feel like I wasted $320 and I dont recommend purchasing this sewing machine.

Im over 60 and can count on one hand the number of hours Ive probably sewed my whole life! Wanting to get back into it, but without having to invest too much money, i scoped out eBay for most of the first part of the virus outbreak.

I needed something simple to use but with capabilities somewhat passed beginner. This machine fits the bill. I love how the speed of the stitching doesnt scoot out from under me! I feel like I have a lot of control over the whole process.

The ability to change stitching styles is easy and fun! I only needed a little help from my sewing daughter to install the bobbin mechanism. Its fun, as a beginner-sort of, having such a easy-to-use yet fancy machine!.

Iam happy to get a Elna machina for my first sewing machine. Didn’t want to put to much money in case of i didnt like it sewing. For the moment i still enjoye it! Still going around the differents fonctions and the good settings.

On thing is that the slidding arm is already broken looks like it came like that. And 2 screws already came out from under the machine i had to fixe them back. I now its refurbished products but i expect that i didnt have to fixe after a few months.

This is a fantastic machine. Very easy to understand and work with.
