20 Best Serum For Sensitive Acne Prone Skin (2023 Updated)

At my age (55), I still get the occasional breakout, and I do need to treat spots. I tried this product as something I could put on areas that were very sensitive and I needed to “treat” them without being too harsh.

I have only been using this a couple weeks so far, but I’ve noticed that when applying it just to those particular areas at night, I see in the morning that the areas are less red and appear to have healed slightly, and the product does not “overdry” or leave the skin flaky.

It is useful, and I feel it has a gentle healing type quality to it. Its not an “overnight fix” to get rid of pimples or spots, but I think that if you treat those spots each night after cleansing for several days, you genuinely do notice a positive difference and it boosts the healing process for sure.

Its great value at the price, and I would purchase again (although you need so little, and it is a really good, small dispenser, so I’m sure it will last ages!!) Its a nice, handy size to take away too if you needed.

My 18 yo son has been fighting with acne since he was in 9th grade. its left scars– which saddens me because hes very handsome. I was browsing at Ulta and I went to get Mario Badesco’s Silver Powder for myself.

so I thought I would look for something for him. He usedT. Taio Esponjabon soap and Mario Badesco Anti Acne Serum. The 2 helped really reduce his breakouts. I wad amazed!! We’ve tried a lot in the past, rx products, Benzoyl Peroxide products, Salicylic Acid products– nothing worked much except these 2.

He still uses both, but my only gripe is that he goes through the Anti Acne Serum WAY too quickly. Maybe he had more “territory” to cover– i have no idea. But this will be an every 3-4 wk purchase for us.

Either way– I just want the acne under control so we can start to work on the scarring. All in all, this product worked well for our family– as does most Mario Badesco products. Give it a try. If it doesn’t work, you can always return it to Ulta with a receipt or with your rewards info.

My skin drastically changed within the last 6 months due to menopause. Although I always struggled with acne, my skin went from oily to extremely dry and the type of acne was completely different. Everything I tried either caused flaky dry patches or caused additional breakouts.

Wow such a nice serum. I’ve heard so many good things about la roche posay ive only been able to try a couple things so far but everything they make is so good and so good for your skin. I will always trust every product this brand makes.

But this serum is really nice it’s not just a Salycilic Acid Serum for acne and breakouts it also has glycolic acid and Niacinimide in it. I do a nightly skincare rotation throughout the week. 1st night exfoliants 2nd night retinol 3rd 4th night recovery w/ just Hyaluronic acid.

I’ve added this serum into my exfoliant night routine and it’s perfect just what I was missing because I still get random breakouts here and there so the Salycilic Acid helps with that and the Niacinimide and glycolic acid for exfoliating, resurfacing brightening.

It also feels so smooth going on and absorbs nicely. Just perfect perfect perfect a really great serum i absolutely love it.

We all get acne and have issues with hyperpigmentation. This product is definitely one that I can’t stress enough that you need to incorporate into your skincare regimen. It can be safely used by both teens and adults alike.

I do recommend applying this product in a small amount to your entire face (excluding your eye area). You can press pat it into your skin or you can rub it in in until it has absorbed. If you apply to much, then you can expect to see it looking a bit foamy on the skin.

This is a concentrated serum, which is why, less is best when applying it, Now, when stating it, I recommend using it 2-3 times a week max (preferably at night), due to the very high level of niacinamide in it, which most peoples skins aren’t normally accustomed to.

The Zinc in it is designed to help decrease excess sebum production. Even though I have very sensitive, dry/very dry, eczema & acne prone skin, this product has never caused me any major problems that would ever make me want to stop using it.

Plus, it is virtually scentless as well. It will with decreasing the appear every of large pores and definitely aid with lightening up hyperpigmentation and hoping to increase the overall clarity of ones skin, and helping with decreasing acne breakouts as well.

However, it takes a minimum of 3 weeks to see marked improvement to ones skin, when adding any new product into your skincare regimen, okay. Which is why, having patience is definitely key for sure. There are no products that work overnight or even after a week’s time, not even Retin A.

Please give this product the proper chance to do it’s job. It definitely is life-changing(in my opinion) for sure!.

I fell in love with The Ordinary brand after using this product first and although it seems like a high percentage of Niacinamide, my skin loves it. The Ordinary’s Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% has a very thin, watery consistency.

I found that when I’m not using Niacinamide in my other skincare products, I use this serum as my first layer since it’s very thin and absorbs so easily. Niacinamide (Vitamin B3) is a lovely ingredient that prevents breakouts, although it’s not an acne treatment by any means.

I love how this product reduced inflammation and can help to reduce the appearance of blemishes on the face. The added Zinc helps alleviate excess sebum production from getting out of control on the face.

Remember if you’re using a Vitamin C topical product, to alternate and use one at night and one at day because this formula can alter the efficacy of many Vitamin C formulations. I love this this product is cruelty free, vegan, alcohol free, silicone free, nut free, gluten free, and oil free.

This product will not cause breakouts, but I have heard of people purging on this. If your skin breaks out in small bumps for a couple days and that goes away, that’s purging. If it breaks out all over, stop using the product and find a low concentration of Niacinamide that’s 2-5% only.

I love how this product fights sebum production so not only is it targeting my acne scars, but it’s preventing new blemishes from popping up and all for $5. 90!!! Wowee! That’s amazingly inexpensive price for this product.

I recommend this product for ALL skin types! Oiliest acne prone to the dryest acne prone skin (like mine)! Please do a patch test! This isn’t going to have an instant anti scarring effect. It works on Hyperpigmentation, but over time.

I think anyone who gets excess sebum production, or especially has an oily t-zone would love this serum! Simply apply without touching dropper to your face as your 1st layer before any heavier lotions, creams, or your daily SPF.

This serum has been an almost-miracle product for my sensitive, redness-prone, blemish-prone skin. My only qualm with it is that it SERIOUSLY STINGS if you apply it to any active breakouts or broken skin.

My skin was in seriously terrible condition due to a Lupus flare and hormonal acne, but after everything healed, I have been able to use this without irritation, following it with the Hyaluronic Acid/B5 serum, Pycnogenol, and Marula Oil (or moisturizing factor lotion).

It really has transformed the texture of my skin, to a more noticeable degree than most of The Ordinary’s other products (besides the Alpha Lipoic Acid serum, which I miss so much). My pores are refined, especially on my forehead, nose, chin, and cheeks on either side of my nose.

Once prone to being easily-inflamed, sensitive areas of my face are no longer red, and now look more smooth. Oily patches, especially my nose, are less-oily. I have fewer clogged pores and blackheads, and less blemishes from irritation.

I purchased the 2oz bottle from The Ordinary’s website, since I apply this to my chest, upper arms, and back as well, as I sometimes have breakouts from malassezia. It also quickly fades the purple/red post-blemish marks on my very fair skin.

It does make my skin feel drier and tight if I don’t moisturize thoroughly afterwards, especially during this part of the winter, so keep that in mind. The price also makes it easier to use it liberally where ever I need it.

Other than the stinging, it’s a fantastic serum for my very high-maintenance, 30-year-old skin.

I’ve been using this for almost 6 months now and it has been a great step towards clearer skin for me. I have transitioning skin (used to be really oily, now its more combo/normal) and have always had cystic acne.

Since using this, I don’t get those deep nodules anymore. I do still get some surface level blemishes (like 3-5 “sprinkle sized” whiteheads around my jaw) related to hormone fluctuations, but they are treatable with topical spot treatments where they cysts I used to get were not.

I would double cleanse, use a toner, then apply this by itself to do its job for several hours before my night time routine, found it relatively effective that way. I’ve worked for them for almost two decades and there aren’t many brands in the world that I don’t know about. I have used thousands of products in the past, from drug store products to creams and serums that cost more than $1000.

But I never leave a review on anything partially because (I don’t leave negative ones) I can’t encourage consumers to buy products from another company. However, I think this oil deserves it. Averr Aglow was bought to my attention by one of my colleagues and we decided to try some out.

I got the pink clay, the black lotion and this oil. While other two products didn’t give me a great impression, this oil did a tremendous job on my skin. I take care of my skin in the best way possible, but still suffer from oiliness, mild rosacea and blemishes caused by misuse of steroid ointment for eczema when I was a teen.

I immediately saw a great result after one use. My cheeks were much less reddish, skin tone was brighter, didn’t cause any breakout, didn’t make my skin oily. My skin felt very supple. It didn’t have any negative effect on my super sensitive, acne-prone skin.

This item deserves 12 out of 10 considering its effectiveness and the fact that it’s natural. The combination of ingredients is very clever and I’m so impressed they have achieved that. The only thing I don’t recommend is to use it in AM because it makes your face greasy and causes enlarged pores, so stick to PM use as directed by Averr.

Also, it doesn’t have much of anti-aging effect. I use a serum from another company before this oil, and then a moisturizer, which is also from another brand. It works well in conjunction with everything else I use.

Using your fingertips, apply to the areas that are acne prone or dehydrated skin. For precaution, it said to keep out of eye contact, for external use only, and to keep out of reach of children. The packaging is elegant and the coloring design makes it look like a high quality product.

The serum comes in a dropper bottle, making it super easy to dispense the correct amount. The serum itself is a lot thicker than other liquid serums, so it’s easier to get the three drops out without waste.

My mother and I both tried this serum, she used it for her dry skin and I used it for my acne. We both agreed on how well it moisturized our skin and how easy it was to apply. My experience alone was quite different than my mother’s considering I have very sensitive skin.

I usually have a reaction to many acne products. When applying Acleon Seboderm Solution, I had no problems with it all. It didn’t feel heavy on my face and worked pretty quickly considering how little time I used it for.

This is the latest product I’ve added to the line. I also use the day cream, eye gelee which is a gel, the night cream, and decollate cream. I added this as all of the sudden I was breaking out a bit and saw a lot of congestion around my nose and chin.

I’ve seen tremendous results with this line. With that said on a scale of 1-10 my skin was an 8 before I started using these products. My skin is now a 9. 5 on most days and a 10 on other. days. The day cream literally resurfaced my skin around day 30 and in one week I had 3 compliments alone.

The “bottle” I purchased lasted a bit over 4 months using 3 pumps a day in the morning from hair line to bra line. I can also use it alone without the eye gel or clarifying serum as a “1 and done” in the morning.

I got this because at almost 65 I have been breaking out with zits again. In the on air presentation the woman who developed this said when she feels a zit coming she dabs this on and it goes away. About 2 days after I received this I felt a zit starting right under my chin.

I thought “Perfect” because it wouldn’t be as noticeable and I could use this product on it and not put any makeup or concealer on it- only the product. I applied it twice a day, morning and night. One day later, zit still forming; 2 days, nothing, and so on.

A week later the zit started going away because it naturally was starting to go away and not because of this product. I also used it on a couple of areas around the mouth twice a day to see if it helped with the wrinkles there.

Nothing. Instead, I got two more pimples over a course of 3 weeks in those areas. Needless to say, I sent this back.

After reading about all the skin care stuff that was not to be used during pregnancy, that I unknowingly did use with my prior pregnancies, I came across Versin and thought I’d give it a try since I was suddenly on a skincare kick.

It definitely does help with my acne, which I was surprised with as I’ve dealt with acne since a young teen, but now also have pregnancy acne to deal with. I took off two stars. 1 star because of the packaging that doesn’t seem to suite the actual serum well.

Even after shaking the product well, I had to pump for several minutes the first few days of use to dispense the product, and when the product still barely came out, I concluded that during each use I annoyingly have to unscrew my bottle before each use to ensure there’s no goopy serum stuck on the bottom of the dispenser.

However, lately, about 1 month after use, even after taking the dispenser out of the bottle and then trying to pump product out, I again have to pump several times to get the recommended pea sized amount out.

This is very frustrating as a busy mom of two young kids when I’m simply trying to get this on my skin, follow up with moisturizer and be done with my skincare; not sure I’ll have this extra time to get product out in this way once baby is here.

The other star taken off was due to the lack of skin brightness and post inflammation dark spots that this serum promised to reduce the appearance of. Overall, this is a decent product for acne that could use great improvement in the packaging and perhaps some in the actual serum.

I have used this serum for 2 months. I am 29 and have adult acne-prone skin where if I’m not actively using something to combat the acne prematurely every day, I end up with a handful of painful solo pimples in random places across my face.

When I got pregnant, I could no longer use my usual products and researched that niacinamide is pregnancy safe. I had never used that ingredient before so I thought, worth a try! Products I have used in the past (not all at once, ha!) are salicylic acid and/or benzoyl peroxide, sulfur, tea tree oil, and clay mask or charcoal masks.

My first noticing with Versine’s Calm & Hydrate serum was that it instantly squashed any potential acne flare-ups. Ok, so my skin reacts really well to these ingredients! The bonus is this wears so well under makeup.

My skin truly is hydrated and so smooth! This is the best product I’ve used because of these reasons. As for acne, I do still have blackheads on my nose and I’ve noticed that sometimes instead of large, painful solo pimples, I might get tiny blackhead-like pimples in little spots here and there (never experienced that before these are so easily managed with proper extraction technique).

This is the only product I’ve used that completely eliminates the painful pimples. Overall, this will be the product I return to, over all those other ingredients. Love it!!!!.

After a significant amount of searching, I was thrilled to find this product. It is the only product I found that includes soothing niacinamide, a brightening and stable vitamin C derivative, and azelaic acid without any ingredients I’d prefer to avoid (like glycols, phenoxyethanol, etc.

). I have acne prone skin that is also sensitive and sometimes develops eczema, and azelaic acid is a great way to prevent breakouts without inflaming eczema. This product has a lovely texture and after a short period of initial tingling from the azelaic acid, really tones down redness and leaves skin soft and smooth.

Although it has squalane and a ceramide to hydrate and protect skin barrier, I do need an additional balm over top, at least in these cooler Autumn months. So far, I am extremely pleased with the results and plan to reorder.

My only complaint is that (likely due to the azelaic acid, which doesn’t always blend well) I have to frequently shake the product to remix it. It is also a little too viscous for the pump provided and sometimes I have to remove the pump entirely to release the vacuum that has developed as I try to dispense the thick product through the small pump.

A wider diameter pump dispenser might solve this issue. Otherwise, a fantastic product!.

I found this met all my expectations & it was best suited when applied at night. I did apply other moisturiser after 30 minutes for extra hydration.

This is a lovely serum and a little goes a long way. My skin has improved a lot since I started using this serum, it is well priced and very gentle.

This product leaving my skin look amazing, I use it every night after the cleanance face wash and thus far have had amazing results, will definitely be repurchasing!

Despues aplico toner de Roche posay, de la misma linea effaclar, y de ahi aplico este serum en la noche y finalizo con el gel-crema de vichy, linea normaderm para hidratar. De dia no aplico este serum, solo la crema para hidratar de vichy y termino con la BB cream de base Effaclar en invierno o en verano aplico el bloqueador solar con color de ISDIN (fusion water).
