20 Best Sealant For Rv Roof (2023 Updated)

I bought this based on the reviews, the price made me think about it but in the end I bought it. The 5 gallon pail weighs over 65#! It took me almost 15 MINUTES to completely mix the stuff up using a drill!! I used a paint brush to do the entire roof.

I didn’t like how it went on with a roller. The finished roof looks and feels incredible!! I was curious to see how thick it set up using the paintbrush. I put some on a piece of tinfoil, using the same technique I did on the RV roof.

After completely dried it took a little bit of time to get it to come off of the tinfoil, which I thought was a positive. In my opinion, this means that it should adhere to the rubber roof even better because of its porosity.

Peeling the RV Fletcher pair off the tinfoil resulting in about a millimeter to 1. 5 mm worth of product thick on the roof. Very impressive! I highly recommend this stuff, it is worth every penny. I have a 33 foot fifth wheel, even putting it on with a paintbrush I still have about 2 gallons left over.

Five roof vents, 1 AC unit etc… Recommend the stuff, and I will definitely buy it again if I need to.

This stuff is super thick and changes the feel of the roof entirely. I am a full grown man about 230 pounds. The roof before this stuff had a minor flex to it. After doing a single thick coat of this sealer it’s like a rock up there.

No give to the roof. I love it! In some of the more poor areas of the roof I just poured the sealer in the area and spread it out evenly as possible with a roller. Did a total of two coats. I scraped the flaky stuff off before I painted.

I also removed the satellite dish that was I never used and the RV antenna that was outdated. The more up there the more possible issues in the future. I used their tape to cover the holes and areas they were in after cleaning it properly.

I sealed around the edges / trim with an adhesive. I don’t think I will ever have to touch my roof again.

This is really a good product went on easily enough, but took some work to get it on, I used a roller and a brush to get it on thoroughly. First I prepped the roof by scrubbing it twice to get all the dirt up and then let it dry thoroughly before applying.

I applied it later in the afternoon so that I did not have direct sun overhead. It looks really good and covers very well, had some strong rains a couple of days later and the water just rolled off. I bought the 5 gallon bucket and that was way too much, I should have only bought a couple of gallons.

I have enough left to do another coat and my sons camper as well.

Way too thick to self level properly. Stays pretty much how it comes out of the tube in a noodle. needs to be lower viscosity. I also have the Alpha 1010 non self leveling- not a whole lot of difference.

I absolutely love this product!!! I used this for my RV roof seals where the standard Dicor has been used for years. We have been battling the never ending challenge of leak prevention for our rig every year.

I diligently inspect the roof every 3 months to find the same old Dicor faults of drying out, cracking, and peeling up, forcing me to add more Dicor. I decided to give Ziollo lap sealant a try and couldnt be more impressed with its performance.

The product sets so smooth and just the feel of the Ziollo after it has set gives the impression that is is a lifetime product. Im planning on resealing my entire roof soon with Ziollo RV roof sealant and ( I cant believe Im saying it, BUT) I am looking forward to that project.

Great purchase. You can literally paint this stuff on, which is great for narrow spaces. It can also be layered and adheres well to surfaces, even vertical ones. It does take time to dry, but that’s to be expected in a damp climate.

(It would actually be harder to work with if it dried too quickly. ) Four tubes was more than needed, but this is a good thing too — it’s smart to have some extra on hand for the next time the travel trailer springs a leak.

Had to reseal my 1999 24 Foot 5th Wheel, ordered 8 tubes, the product went further than expected. Used 2 tubes on the front seam, two on the rear, then went around 3 skylights, and other stuff having 2 leftover.

I bought 2 gallons to do the roof of a 32 foot camper. Covered the whole thing with 1 gallon on what I thought was a nice thick coat. Its a thick product but rolls on good with a little elbow grease.

Uses the 2nd gallon for another coat and the roof looks like a new rubber roof. Very pleased!.

We installed a rubber roof on a hay barn and needed a sealer to use where the edge of the roof butts up against a wood sided building. Although this sealer is commonly used on RV roofs it has performed very well for what we needed it for.

So far it has withstood extreme summer heat, low humidity, freezing, ice, snow and rain and no leaks whatsoever. We used it along the entire length of a 20′ OSB wall where it meets the rubber roof and also around all of the flashing on the corners.

It was a pretty challenging spot to seal so I’m extra impressed with how well its doing.

Seems to possess excellent adhesion and flexibility. I used eternabond primer prior to installation. This is based solely on initial installation and not miles on the road. Will update if the road or time adversely affect seal.

Cannot use the product because it came damaged with a bent nozzle. Now it says this item is not eligible for return.

Had a couple tubes for months but do to work I never had time to recaulk vents and skylight. Last night it rained and hailed hard for 25 minutes and moderate rain for another 35 minutes. Had towels out soaking up huge amounts of water from the 3 leaks.

I took work off today and 3 to 5 minutes after applying to to problem areas it started down pouring non stop. I feared the worst but no leaks after 1 hour of heavy rain and it s still raining. Great product!.

Great product and the price was excellent. Camping World was ALOT more expensive. ALOT more expensive. So if you need to seal your RV roof this is the stuff to use.

This is an excellent product. Installed a new satellite on the RV and sealed the mounting brackets with this sealant. It looks OE to me and sealant has remained plyable but completely sealed. No leaks at all from those screws holding the brackets.

We have had some serious rains here and its doing its job. Great! Highly recommend it for any roof repairs on your RV.

I would have given it a 5 star but some of the tubes were bent, and the tips were crooked. It doesn’t affect the Dicor itself, but over time, if they aren’t used quickly, I worry they may leak, or dry out.

I like both of the Dicor’s I bought, and the Non-sag one better, it isn’t as runny, and I don’t make as much a mess. I would use it on a Roof, instead of a side of a camper.

Very durable and long lasting sealant for Dicor roofing to metal/fiberglass. While it is a non leveling caulk, it still will run some on vertical surfaces, so have to use sparingly and build up as it hardens in layers.

All the reviews online suggest that Dicor should last quite a few years, so I’m hopeful this will last. My experience comes from a sunny 85 F day. I was able to reseal all the seams on my RV’s roof with 3 tubes after hard-scrubbing the previous lap sealant.

If you’re quick enough this sealant can be spread with a gloved finger. Within a minute it forms a skin and becomes too tacky to manipulate. The sealant is self-leveling, but not too liquidy. I did not need a barrier to keep it from running.

It was recd timely. Have not used it as yet my solar panel is not installed, waiting on more parts for installation. But have used the dicor product leveling caulk In AZ this spring and satisfied with its coverage and works out well.

Used 11 tubes for my 32 ft 5th wheel roof that’s why I ordered for cargo trailer solar install on roof.

Works great. It does exactly as it describes. I used to touch up cracks and spots on RV roof. I squeezed out one large spot and checking it in about 5 mins, it had leveled out and spread very little.

It did not spread too far as to expose the area being repaired. I definitely would buy again. A little pricy but after seeing how well it worked I would have paid double.

So I purchased 4 quart containers of this sealant a few years ago with intentions to do some repairs that were actually not necessary following some roof reconstruction. That said, this stuff sat in my shed for around 4-5 years before I had a chance to use it (not climate controlled – full swing of weather in the NE).

I was afraid that like caulk tubes this very expensive purchase would be a loss but I was pleasantly surprised to find that all 4 containers stayed viable! I had a small leak in my roof SOMEWHERE that I could not pin down.

I decided to just hit every possible infiltration point with this sealant and see (roof vents, waste line vents, a few cracked shingles, etc. ). Well, one of the spots I hit must have been the leak point because months later there’s no further leak evidence even following some pretty horrific rain storms.

I am so happy with the results that I wanted to share a few things I learned while using this sealer. 1) I see a lot of people recommend foam brushes for this stuff, but I would counsel getting short utility paint brushes instead.

My asphalt shingle roof would have shredded the foam brushes and the traditional bristles of the utility brushes I purchased let me really get into the cracks with the sealant. Also – the bristles are a bit stiffer than many foam brushes – good for getting the last of the sealant out of the jar, especially as it starts to cure.

I used a 2″ wide brush (with 1″ long bristles) which just fit into the mouth of the quart jar. I got a box of these things for peanuts a long while ago and still haven’t run out of them. 2) A note about the curing.

some other reviewers mentioned getting gallon containers instead of the quart size containers. Do this ONLY if you are going to use this stuff all at once and relatively quickly. I was very careful to recap my quart jar as I moved about the roof and I still barely got to the bottom of the container before it started to gel up to the point it became unusable.

Unless you have a big project, get a bunch of quart size jars so that the most you will use/lose per job is one quart. Plan your job ahead of time so that you will spend the least amount of time after jar-open.

3) Plan to lose what you don’t use. I carefully re-capped what little I had left in the last quart jar I was using – even did the “breathe into the jar for CO2 layer” trick and the stuff still completely cured within hours.

Once air gets into the jar the timer starts ticking. 4) Be careful cleaning up. I got this on my extension ladder, jeans, shirt, shoes, etc. I was wearing work clothes and work gloves so no problem there, but you would NOT want to get this on anything you care about.

One unexpected bonus – the work gloves I was wearing now have a water resistant side – the sealant coated the palms and fingers of the work gloves and they are still flexible and workable! 5) Be aware that this sealant is somewhat shiny when cured – so if your roof is visible from ground level, the repair patches will be noticeable if you’re looking.

It’s not “ice in the sun” shiny, but on an asphalt roof it stands out. I don’t care because anything was worth nailing that leak, but it’s something to take into consideration. The net sum is that this sealant really works, sticks to anything and everything, and is still pliable and well adhered almost a year later after being applied to a swept but weathered roof in full exposure to the elements.

I can only hope that it lasts until it’s time to re-shingle the roof again.

One day it was pouring & water was dripping through the ceiling in the bedroom. I checked in the attic as seen here in the picture. I could only get a general idea exactly where it was leaking. On the roof I figured it somewhere within 5 square ft.

I coated with about 1/3 the can. Next rain, it still leaked. Coated with another 1/3 can, leaked again. I used the last 1/3 of the can coating the whole area including the side of the ridge along the edge of the shingles.

It seems that was the only area not covered. Since then its rained hard many times and it stopped leaking. Good stuff if you can locate where the leak is.

I have applied 2 1/2 gallons since I discovered this product about 6 months ago. I have applied it on a 2=12 pitch metal roof/deck where it joins the house and on the screws and seams of this new covering and no leaks yet, also on our 1994 RV trailer roof which had some leaks and does not appear to be leaking, also applied to the metal roof of an old (1981) mfg home rental on the Oregon coast and today applied to the metal roof of our rural home that has had a regular leak next to the brick fireplace chimney, covered all joints and screws.

I like the way this product flows into cracks after it is brushed on. I did not like the foam brushes so went to stiff paint brush then to a small stiff nylon bristle scrub brush. The bristle scrub brush was shaped like a wire brush with a handle, this seemed to work the best for me.

as for the product stopping leaks we will see after this western Oregon winter. This product appears to be flexible when dry and does not seem to be prone to cracking like regular caulk or asphalt rain patch.

This sealant will set up completely in 24 hrs. Also paintable, in about 2 hrs. This sealant comes out of the tube a little runny, but tacks up quickly. Works great for self leveling. It will dry to a rubber consistency.

Completely water proof.

I used this on my travel trailer roof about 5 years ago. My trailer is required to live outside in the elements (Utah winters and summers) and this has held up very well. It applies easily, doesn’t require any pushing into place like regular caulk; it flows into cracks and valleys, providing an even finish.

I do not think I need to replace what is on the roof, but it is showing a little more weathering than I am comfortable with so I will cut/peel what is in place and do it again. Excellent product.

Extremely please with this product. It works as intended. I caution you to have a small amount of mineral spirits readily available in case there is a need for clean up. You must clean up immediately for best results.

So heres the tuing that got me thinking. rv user manuals instruc one not to use any type of thinner or petroleum distillate (charcoal lighter fluid or mineral spirits) to clean/prep the roof. They claim these products will damage the roof.

Now, Dicor actually has mineral spirits in it to make the sealant pliable when applying and to cure the minieral spirits essentially evaporate. Its pretty hypocritical to teller xonsumers not to use one type of prodcut then advocate to another product with the banned substance as an ingredient.

Why isnthis? Money. All of these products are made by the same organization. Now personally, i think its crap to tell consumers not tomuse something then advocate a product with that item in it. Dicor itself is a self-leveling sealant that is used to seal potential leaks from openings in an RV roof.

It will, after exposure, dry out and crack which can allow water to enter your rv, causing you more problems than you want. I found this sealant after researching other products they have that are used for concrete.

This sealant serves the same purpose and is labeled as a “semi self-leveling” sealant. It does level out but it does not level out as fast and thin as dicor. This actually forms a thick bead on and around the area being sealed.

It has no odr of mineral spirits, i cant read the label to be sure (its too small) but it does have some type of solvent in it. It seems to have a nice flexible seal that may take a while to dry out, keeping the rv protected for years.

It was just a bit less than dicor as well. Im sold on it. I cant attest to how well it will hold up or its longevity, but so far im happy with it. For the roof prep, i uscraped all the old dicor off carefully, cleaned the whole area with a rag and mineral spirits (used sparingly), and applied this to seal it.

Seems better so far. From now on, ill be using this product for my rv roof maintenance as a secondary to the elastomeric sealant tape. That stuff lasts forever. But this seems to be a good prduct. Ill update it in a few year to see how long it lasts.

Resealed the roof of my cargo trailer. Original sealant was cracking and pulling away from the seams. I was told this is due to the high percentage of solvents in the self-leveling sealant used at the factory.

Sika Flex 715 is low in solvent content and therefore less prone to shrinking and cracking. Though it is semi self-leveling which helped me fully cover the seams on the trailer roof.

Works well. A littles thinner than expected therefore it doesnt fill vertical voids very well.

I absolutely love this sealant. I had to replace some skylights and vent caps on my camper. Once I replaced them. I used the roof sealant and it was a dream it went on very easy and sealed perfectly.

No leaks.

A must use when repairing roof vents and other items on your RV roof. Never use silicone you will regret it in short time, this is the product you need to use on your rubber roof.

This stuff worked great to seal lap joints in cargo trailer roof. I’d recommend to keep it warmer (70-80f) before application so it flows easier, especially if application is on a cooler day like I did (40f).

I felt that it did not dry as fast as it claimed it would. However it was easy to work with and I felt it did level out the more it sat and cured. I would say it was dry in about 2 hrs. It was 58 degrees out and and NOT very sunny.

Had it been sunny AND warmer, it may have dried faster. I would definitely use it again.

The caulk worked out well for me. It is about the consistency of sour cream and spreads quite nicely. I used it as extra insurance on roof repair tape edges and it worked out really well. It covered more than I expected.

Granted you had it in stock, However I didn’t needed it right away as I planned for the repair, Also, free shipping if purchased and sent to the store is a plus. Overall, Camping World and Walmart is the first place I look for my camping needs.

IšverstiShow in original languageThis stuff is fantastic and does exactly what it is supposed to do. I used it when I replaced the cracked skylight on my nearly new motorhome. It s easy to apply and spreads out nicely after application exactly as it s supposed to.

Just be aware that it takes a l-o-n-g time to fully cure up to a month so if you apply it outdoors like I did you need to keep it covered for the first few days to prevent leaves and other airborne debris from bonding to the upper layer of the slowly curing caulk.

(Please don t ask me how I know this. ).

Needed the product to splice and seal several clay tiles from my roof that were hit and cracked by a falling tree limb. I applied generous beads or the sealant between the tile portions broken apart and pressed the pieces together for a little while.

Repeated this procedure until all cracked tiles were taken care of. Finally, I applied a bead of sealant all along all cracks and allowed the beads to dry.

Smooth, easy application with a caulking gun. Great to have on hand for indoor problems also.

DAP has always had good products, this one is priced really good also.

This was my weekend to seal my camper. Bought the kit, lap seal is as expected, the tape and roller, went waaaay above any expectations I could of had, had a branch poke a hole in old roof, sealed up with flex tape.

Fast forward to this weekend ,decided to peel off 2 month old flex tape and add new ,before sealing, nope, was stuck on as tight as the day I put it on, ended up sealing right over it, felt very confident tape would last forever.

Now the silicone seal. Fantastic coverage, my roof looks good and I’m very confident it will be added integrity to my camper. Helpful hints , use a helper to pour on as you roll out sealer, go heavy as to only do one coat.

I had about 2 inches left in bucket ,sealed it up good, thinking I’d go back and touch up a few places if needed, well sealer seemed to clump a little over night, even sealed up good, so my recommendation, it to hit it in one pass.

Love the outcome and if we ever camper upgrade will put this on from day one ,even without having to repair branch hit. Thanks for a great product, Tim.

I’m very confident in my choice and the purchase of Ziollo (3) part sealant. After conversations with the seller and received the info needed with their knowledge about these products and steps and tips to a watertight/waterproof roof as it pertains to my RV and needs there of.

I wanted to make very sure that I’m applying these products correctly as product design as well as giving insight to the seller as it pertains to my individual case at hand with the RV roof I’m about to apply the Ziollo products onto,and the seller conveyed all necessary information to their product and how to approach and be successful to my specific repairs.

Anyone that maybe considering to a DIY RV roof repair and looking for quality products/sealant but quality in response to answer your specific questions by the seller/manufacturer as it pertains to your DIY project.

Repairs and sealant of an RV is not to be taken lightly,nor should be rushed. this is a major factor to the lifespan of the RV. my inquiries as to the procedure to apply Ziollo products were answered professionally.

I highly recommend Ziollo products for these reasons.

I neglected my 1997 25′ trailer’s roof which was parked under oak trees to the point of water intrusion. I cleaned, power washed, taped the seams and applied Ziollo first in one thin coat, then a second heavier the next day and the third day I poured the remaining 3 gallons THICKLY over the whole roof and evenly distributed it and my roof is better than new! Next spring I intend to do the same process on the metal roof of my 12X24 steel storage building!.

Had a large leak on the roof of our camper around the tv antenna/dish. This product went on great and completely stopped the leak. Great product, worth the money.

It’s a great product easy to use. This was my first time to use this type of sealer. I cleaned the roof with soap and water and let it sit in the sun for a couple of days. I then cleaned the old sealant with mineral spirits then applied the Dicor sealant went on great leveled out like it was suppose to do and the leak is gone.

I’m very happy with this sealant and will use it again.
