15 Best Scythe Dark Souls 3 (2023 Updated)

I could pick Dark Souls back up and enjoy it all over again. Its frustrating and super hard at times. But for some reason you dont want to put the controller down. Lovely graphics and scenery. Excellent story and many different weapons and armor.

A perfect edition for collectors. The steelbook shares the same illustrations as the folded box from the trilogy box edition. The sleeve it’s not really a sleeve but a little box for keep the steelbook safe.

The best edition of the game if you only want the games and not the stuff that comes with the trilogy box edition.

These games are 5/5 alone so having all three of them with dlc is really nice. You might as well buy this one than each one individually as its almost the same price, but this one comes with a steelbook.

Good game, good box, good price. Apparently, they are gamestop exclusive and they dont have it within 100 mile radius, well, they did, but in their generic case so its cool to get it here.

Dark Souls 2 is the weakest of the batch. The original creator was busy working on Bloodborne and the two original directors were not able to achieve the vision they wanted, causing setbacks and rewrites, ending in one of the two leaving the project and the other needing to finish it without specific direction.

Most of the environments look okay, but compared to the original they do not feel as fleshed out or interesting. The enemies are fine, but many of the bosses are terrible reskins of Dark Souls 1 bosses, or are simply larger versions of normal enemies.

From a texture and lighting standpoint, Dark Souls 2 is terrible, and needed significant patching before it was even acceptable. The Black Armor Edition includes a Steelbook case with raised artwork and places for two disks, so it can hold the soundtrack and game together.

It also comes with a Black Armor DLC voucher which has long since expired. The soundtrack is excellent, filled with hauntingly beautiful tracks. Overall, if you are a fan of Dark Souls titles, this is one to have purely for collection purposes; otherwise the Scholar of the First Sin edition is the more complete and enhanced version.

Being one of the later players of the first Dark Souls there wasn’t quite enough time between them when Dark Souls II was released. I bought it, and after a couple of hours I put it on the shelf, so to speak.

Now after another year has passed I was finally ready to venture into the dark, depressing, difficult, but amazingly rewarding world of Dark Souls II. One of the biggest difference between the two is the bon-fires that allow you to quickly travel between areas.

This is a really nice improvement. The other major difference, I am not so fond of. In Dark Souls II when you die, you go Hollow. You get weaker, and you look really dead at least until you use a Human Effigy to restore your humanity.

These are not too easy to come by, not ridiculously impossible, but enough so that you have to spend good chunks of time in this state, and I hate it. I just don’t like being a rotten corpse, and I don’t think there is anything wrong with that.

You don’t get so weak that it is a major disadvantage that takes all the fun out of the game, it’s mostly the aesthetics that I don’t like. So I buy a helmet that covers my face first. Grinding is still the most important part of the game.

Going back to areas over and over again defeating the same enemies, leveling up and improving your fighting skills. You will do lots and lots of this. If you are like me, and this sounds fun you will love this game.

If you liked the first Dark Souls there is no reason not to love this game as it is really just a graphically improved continuation of the first in many ways, though definitely different enough to give the player a whole new experience.

This game is uncredibly boring due to bad design. First of all it is incredibly difficult, you die all the time and each time you die you have to wait for loading and then you resurrect at the last bonfire and you have to walk all the way back to where you died and try again, die again and lose another few minutes of loading and walking.

To make it short, after dying again and again I was so fed up and frustrated by the time loss every time you die that I gave up and put the game back in the shelf. A game has to be fun, not overly difficult abd frustrating.

There is nothing funny in trying to kill an enemy and die 50 times or more, difficulty should be progressive, not close to impossible. What’s the point to make a gorgeous game if you can’t get past the first few minutes of it without dying and having to repeat the same scene over and over again.

This game is for masochist people who like to spend the 24 hours of the day doing the same. Unplayable game, I wouldn’t try to play it again even if they jail me for life and all I had in my cell was a ps3 and this piece of crap.

I was one of the few people who had never played a game in the souls series, so when I picked this up I was not sure what to expect. All I can say is it’s very enjoyable but has a steep learning curve.

You can’t just go in flailing around as you might in other hack and slash titles. You need to concentrate and learn the nuisance of it’s unique gameplay. You have to learn the patterns of enemies and how to combat them.

I could easily see how some might find this game extremely difficult and frustrating, but it’s certainly not for everyone. This game is made for hard core gamers. DO NOT play this if you are looking for a more casual experience.

Still, as hard as it is sometimes I find myself drawn into it’s charm and world. I am still learning the ins and outs of it’s gameplay / buttons / style but I think the more I play the more I enjoy it.

The main perk of this game on the Switch is that it is portable (and of course on Nintendo) but the drawback here is that it’s not very optimized. Compared to the other systems (PC / Consoles) it definitely has a graphically downgrade and the FPS just isn’t very stable at many places.

This has caused me to dislike the game more than I normally would. Now don’t get me wrong, if you only have a Nintendo Switch and want to try out Dark Souls or have it portable, then by all means I think it’s worth getting.

But if you have access to buy it on another platform, then I feel you will find it more enjoyable due to how they didn’t optimize this port properly.

Only purchase Dark Souls: Remastered on the Switch if you use your console in portable mode. If you like to play with it docked, and also own a PS4 or Xbox One, purchase those versions instead as the graphics are significantly better on the other platforms.

That said, I move my switch around the house and play it in handheld mode, as it is easier to get gaming time in with a toddler. This version is slightly improved compared to the original on PS3, with all of the DLC and extra content.

Dark Souls is an amazing game. This one nailed the level design and open world feel. Everything flows naturally and as you grow your character, you really feel like your world grows as well. The Switch version runs fine, nothing to write home about.

It’s really nice to be able to play this on the go, but putting the game into standby mode didn’t always pause it for me. If you want a challenge and play your Switch on the go, this is a must have. Lots of replayability with new game +.

I sunk over 60 hours into my first run (well, second, as I played it on the PS3 too), and was going to play again if I didn’t have new games to play from the holiday rush.

Dark souls 3 is an amazing take on the souls series and has compelling gameplay and an amazing story to back it, from my experience, it’s difficulty hits harder than the previous games as there are more enemies and the bosses take long to learn due to their random patterns.

I seriously recommend this game to anybody who has loved the first 2 dark souls games and anybody new, but if you want to ease yourself into the souls series, I seriously recommend Demon’s souls for the playstation 5 or the playstation 3 as (in my opinion) it is the easiest souls game there is.

To tell you the truth I haven’t played the game all that much yet. As someone that has played the first game in the series to an extent (I didn’t complete it okay don’t judge me), Dark Souls 3 has offered what I expected to find – enemies that through the learning of there attack patterns can be defeated (It certainly can be made easier with a proper guide ha ha).

One thing to note is the movement certainly feels more fluid than the first game. The game looks quite nice. The sound effects during battle were quite surprising to me at first but are something I can appreciate the existence of.

I don’t feel I’ve heard enough of the music to make a judgement on it yet. Quite a bit of my time was spent getting carried by friends that are frankly a bit too overpowered. If you’re looking for a challenge, I suggest not playing with people that have gear that is from the end game.

Unless of course you convince them to use bad gear ha ha. One last thing to note is to be careful of invaders. Sometimes they drop in and ruin your day.

I LOVE the exploration aspects of this game, and the areas are an awesome blend of Dark Souls 1 and Bloodborne environments. Bosses have tricks to defeating them that encourage different gameplay tactics, making for very memorable battles.

Bosses all feel unique in my opinion, unlike some of the underwhelming or recycled bosses of Dark Souls 2. The graphics are great, the particle effects are gorgeous, movement feels a little smoother than previous Dark Souls games (more like Bloodborne).

I love this game lol Two tips for this game in particular: 1. If you’re fighting a boss and find you’re not doing diddly-squat for damage against them, they’re a boss you have to fight a certain way (hitting weak points, using specific weapon, etc) to take out large chunks of health.

Don’t just try whittling away at it the slow way or you’ll drive yourself mad. 2. While bosses feel a tinge easier than earlier games, some areas are just super hard *coughRoadofSacrificescough*. Sometimes it’s best to just run through the area as fast as you can to get to the next bonfire.

Don’t feel bad about it. If you get this game, hope you like it!.

So much fun to play! The game can be a bit tough but man is it worth it! It is easier if you play with someone, but even if you play solo it is so fun. It’s all about calculating your hits and learning their movements.

Timing and analytics is everything here. One of my too fav games.

I played this for a while, then went back to play an older Souls game and was shocked at how clunky the old games felt. It’s also amazing how everything was seamlessly improved to where it kept all the good from its predecessors and added an extra level of fluidity seamlessly.

I’m not a multiplayer on-line kind of player, but it is quite addicting playing against other players in this game. Heart-pounding-out-of-your-chest level of excitement. One of the best games ever made.

This game is so addictive! I spent so long trying to beat the first boss because I refused to give up! It’s such a fun and hard game that will definitely give you game rage, and then the after boss relax that just seems to wipe you out! I love it.

Unforgiving RPG that makes you work to progress. It really reminds me of older arcade games that you had to learn as you got further and further understanding the movesets of the enemies and learning the bosses.

The game is very unforgiving, but also rewarding. The graphics are amazing and the multiplayer and co-op options are great. One thing you will need for this game is to git good.

Stellar game! This game was great when it came out and still is. There have been improvements with the other games of this universe but this one is still a classic. With challenges in every level the game gets only better.

I cannot say enough about this box, what it is, what it does, and all that it adds to the world of Scythe. I would without hesitation throw money at Stonemaier games if they would ever do anything like this again.

The Rise of Fenris is just that amazing. We have played it twice now as the 2p campaign, it was never lacking, even with multiple plays now I enjoy the campaign story that is included as your progress.

The next time we play it will be the full campaign with 6 players from start to finish. It is very easy to reset the box in the end and have it able and ready to unfold for new players, everything has a place and we’ve set ours back up the way it came, with the exception of tidying up some components in bags.

Without spoiling anything if you even “just like” Scythe, I think Fenris would exceed your expectations and have you pretty eagerly looking forward to playing the next campaign. We play Scythe quite a bit and we’ve never wanted to play so many games of it back to back or over the course of a few weeks before.

The evolving nature of the game lends anticipation and curiosity as to what comes next and just further enhances what is a great game. 5 Stars, 10/10, would recommend, must buy! I cannot wait until the next time we open that box.

If you enjoy Scythe, this is an absolute no-brainer! A friend of ours brought this to our regular game nights, and we played through the entire 8-game campaign. It was a ton of fun! I’ll keep my review concise to avoid giving away any spoilers.

There are carry-overs from game to game (money, upgrades), and these change the gameplay as you go. There are also surprises and story elements that are unveiled between games, which add a really cool almost-legacy aspect to this expansion.

(You can play through it over and over, but the surprises are no longer surprises. ) The plot twists were great! We had no idea who would win until the very end. And we loved every minute of playing Rise of Fenris.

Highly-recommended!.

I ran through this solo for the first play against a pair of Automa; it was an absolute blast! I just finished a 2nd play-through with three Automa and another human, (semi-coop) and had a great time.

I’m looking forward to using the modules in different combinations in future games, and I’m sure I’ll go through the campaign several more times. Comparing the other 2 expansions, I would say this is by far the greatest.

Invaders from Afar is definitely not required; it is more like an “appetizer” to compared to Fenris. I would highly recommend picking up the Wind Gambit to get the full Fenris experience. (even moreso if you already have Invaders; they fare much better with airships!).

The Night Scythe box is easy to assemble and instrumental to any Necron list. If you are playing Necrons at least one is a must, and many successful lists run four or more. They are a little inefficient in points, being 2-3 points to the dollar based on the deal you get for them, but can be inserted into any list as a transport for infantry or as dedicated anti-tank in the form of Doom Scythes.

If you are looking to get into Warhammer 40K Necrons are the cheapest army to start with, and Scythes are the core of good lists.

I bought this game because I don’t mind a challenge and I love exploring interesting worlds, especially fantasy realms. I went into this game knowing that the series has a reputation of being almost too-hard, and with no real relief (there’s a new game plus option, but the enemies scale and change tactics to become as difficult as ever to defeat).

Even so, Dark Souls is hard. Very hard. A majority of the game’s fans will insist it is “tough but fair,” but that only goes so far. The game severely punishes you for mistakes, could benefit from improved hit detection, and has brutally intrusive multiplayer (even if you don’t have PlayStation Plus, if your character is alive/human, then other players can invade your game and kill you, and the only way to stop them is to not be connected to the PlayStation Network).

Perhaps most painful of all is that when you use either the inventory menu or the main menu in-game, you are still playing and can still be killed. It is not possible to pause the game whatsoever; you have to save at a bonfire (which respawns all non-unique enemies) in order to protect yourself from losing your place.

The voicework is, frankly, tepid at best. Much of the audio is softly spoken, so you’d better have subtitles enabled. The exact wording of characters and items can be less than impressive, making you wonder what From Software was thinking when they finalized things.

I don’t expect a lot of handholding, but being too cryptic can be a real pain. You also have to make sure your “souls” (currency) are stocked to at least a modest degree, in case you need to repair your weapons and armor.

This won’t much bother Elder Scrolls fans, I imagine, but to some it can come off as needless micro-managing of resources and equipment. There are a lot of good things about Dark Souls, though. It is a dark and brilliant world, with some appealing settings and incredible creatures, it has a pretty solid combat system, and it instills a profound sense of relief and/or accomplishment when you finally clear a hurdle (typically killing one of the bosses).

This is a great game, and one I think many can enjoy! This game doesn’t just tear the boundaries of video games in terms of story telling, it goes back to the roots of video games. Whereas the first video games were technically all text with no visuals, Dark Souls goes ahead a couple of years ahead where there’s visuals and no obvious story.

The story is pieced together by collecting as many items in the game as you can to fill in all the gaps. That being said this game is not just story. The combat system is fairly new and refreshing, based off of Demon’s Souls, its spiritual predecessor.

It’s a slower type of combat system, but it’s based off a trial and error mindset. Even if you fail the first 20 times you must use your experiences from before to learn how to overcome the environment and the enemies.

It’s a very difficult game, praised for its use of items and cooperative game-play to tell an enthralling narrative and fun gaming experience. When you start off you will lose. Very many times you will want to quit, but just remember that it gets better.

The more you practice, and the more you learn how to power up yourself as well as your equipment, the more you will enjoy this game. Very highly recommended for gamers seeking a challenge.

Yes there is a lot of dying involved, yes you are incredibly vulnerable and yes it all seems so very pointless. Welcome to the first 5 hours of Dark Souls. I wanted to to say before I begin that I have never written a review before, I have played hundreds of games across a dozen genres and I have never been compelled to write a review until I played this.

Dark Souls is a fantastic game, let me start by saying that, it is expansive, unique, satisfying, beautifully put together and genuinely compelling. But, to enjoy any of those features it demands that you submit to it.

What I mean by that is that the game goes against all the tenants of modern gaming (no saves, no health regeneration, no PAUSE!) and unless you embrace Dark Souls’ way of thinking you will never understand it, let alone enjoy it and it deserves to be understood and enjoyed because what it is doing is truly commendable.

What seems like pointless difficulty and repetition is just the game breaking you down, breaking years of bad habits learned at the feet of games like Dante’s Inferno and COD. Dark Souls is trying to show you another way of gaming that isn’t about button bashing or being quick on the trigger but rather is about cunning and patience and self control.

It will wear you down until the prospect of pressing anything other than block at the sight of an enemy will seem like madness, and if you persevere you will love it for it. I was ready to quit after my first 5 hours, I’d screamed and kicked but once I came to some simple realisations: that dying is an inconvenience, not an end, that ending a fight unscathed is more important than ending it quickly and that a victory earned is so much more satisfying than a victory button mashed, then I realised that Dark Souls embodies the kind of challenge that is too often missing from modern games and equally absent is the pure satisfaction you get from rising to it.

To sum up, yes it is hard, yes it demands patience and thought and yes there will be times when you just want to cry but what it offers in return is the most genuine sense of satisfaction in a game that you have felt in a long long time.

I played bloodborne (PS4) and Dark Souls 1 (PC) before touching this one. Initially, I thought I would dislike this as Bloodborne has more modern graphics, mechanics, etc. However, as soon as I started playing, I was impressed by the georgeous gaphics and the all too familar Dark Souls game mechanics.

Certain things here and there has been “tweaked” compared to DS1, but overall it still plays and feels like a souls game. If you liked DS 1, you will love this. I have not played more than 2 hours as I am still trying to finish Dark Souls 1, then I will attempt the later ones.

I just purchased the trilogy accross platforms so that I can continue once I finish them. You do not have to play them in order but I prefer to play in order to enjoy the gameplay and graphics progression through each games.

DS1-DS2-DS3-Bloodborne are on my to do list.

Very happy with this purchase, good value for the game as I am a longtime fan of the franchise. Came as quickly as it could over the Christmas and New year’s break. No damage to disc or case and was all sealed and brand new.

The DLC that is included is difficult but worth the value and for a last gem co sole game the graphics are definitely up to scratch.

for myself the thickness of the strings allows you to feel the string also being light gauge they are not as tight and sharp when pressing down to play a chord or note with good all round sound with deep base and good high end with sustain well it is on my guitar a Rathbone number 2 full wooden guitar.

Bis jetzt gab es bei mir nur eine Handvoll Gegner und Situationen, die mich demotiviert haben. Doch mein Tipp: Das Spiel beenden und erst ein bis ein Paar Tage später wieder weiterspielen, dann ist auch das kein Problem.
