Best Sci Fi Romance Books (2024 Updated)

I love J. R. Ward as an author. If you’re into paranormal romance then Covet is the book for you. I have read all of her books in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series thus far and I haven’t been disappointed as of yet.

Her books are engaging and suspenseful page turners. I even bought a non paranormal romance novel by her as well – An Unforgettable Lady – that too was enjoyable, and like most of her books it leads right into the next one – An Irresistible Bachelor.

I hope that this review will help you to get lost in one of the many fantasy worlds that J. R. Ward has created.

This is the 3rd book in the series and it gets you so excited to read the next one. I really would love to see the rest of the books become movies. This is a romance thriller vampire series. I like this story much better than twilight because it seems more real.

I’ve read LKH since you had to ORDER her books at chain book stores, because she wasn’t common stock. I liked Anita. A little violence mixed with MA that evolved into soft core porn, well it was fun.

As Anita became more hard core- The sex, the violence and the I’m justified- well, I didn’t look eagerly forward to each new book. Then came Merry. Merry isn’t human. She’s sidhe. (That’s pronounced like SHE).

Being of Celt decent, I knew some of my legends/stories/tales. I saw it as a considerable tone down from Anita. Yes, some times its over the top, but Merry doesn’t live there the way Anita does. I’ve enjoyed the books.

The mythology of the Celts has a frame, somewhat altered over time, but the framing helps keep everything in line, mostly. Merry, well Merry is just more likable. I’ve read that LKH says she’ll write how she wants.

I hope she doesn’t do to Merry what she did to Anita.

This book is awesome! The whole series is incredible! I love the way they are written, they pull you right into the book and it is so easy to visualize it happening as you read! Love it! Recommend it 100%!!!.

This is the 3rd book in the Meredith {Merry} Gentry Series. I LOVED it! This series is really getting good! This is a must read series! Merry is line to be Queen if she can only get pregnant before Cel! The first one to be with Child will the new ruler.

If Merry can live that long. She has made some enemies along the way. Who is trying to kill her. Can her Men (Guards}Keep her alive? Can she take care of this herself now that she is back in Faerie? Seriously there should be a warning on this book that it has nothing to do with England or our history. I have no idea why Americans write on a subject they clearly no nothing about. Garbled trashy dialogue only fit for teenage web blogs that would have one believe English gentry, or her idea of such, swaggered around calling each other BABE and swigging champagne like water, a drink that an Englishman would never touch.

True fantasy rubbish, never mention this author in the same breath as Austen. The TV series was awful too and so far from historically correct I thought it was from Mars. As the only intention appears to be grabbing money for tripe rather than earning literary respect then the author succeeded in her effort.

Julia Quinn writes quality romance. Of course there is the eyes meeting and heavy breathing of any romance but this book and all the others I have read by her have depth. They discuss society in a way very reminiscent of Jane Austen.

Many romance novels are just about lust but Julia Quinn’s are about so much more. I can’t wait to read the rest of this series! The characters are all so engaging.

It’s amazing and wonderful! The imagery in the book makes you feel like you are actually there! It has characters which you can relate to. I was very impressed and satisfied with the book because it allowed for character growth and development; not a lot of books do that.

Also it makes you feel British! Overall, it is now one of my favorite books and I highly recommend that others check it out.

As usual, Ward provided thrills, chills, suspense – and the usual tear-jerker moments – with her usual style and elan. As always, you learn something new about the people who live in the Brothers’ world.

In the main plot, you get a HEA. You get resolution in one of the subplots and you get hints of things to come. This was not the best book of the addicting series (IMHO, that would be a toss-up among the first 5 books), but it was a highly satisfying read.

I put the rest of my life on hold until I finished it, but that’s par for the course with Ward’s books – they’re pretty much unputdownable.

Finally, Assail gets his girl, and she is one hot mami! Strong female lead who’s loyal to a fault meets on the brink addict in this continuation of the best vampire based series on the market. J. R. Ward truly brings these characters to life, adding more depth to an already rich world and making the point that even happily ever after needs work to stay golden.

I enjoyed this book, BUT it is my least favourite Blackdagger Book to date. I loved the parts with V and the Brothers but I felt the parts with Sola and Asail were missing something. I just couldn’t get into them as a couple as much as the other books.

The emotion wasn’t there for me. I still can’t wait for the next one though.

I have looked this book series since the first book and this one is no different. Great recap of characters, enough so that you could read this one without having read others. Great story line pulling together both new and old characters.

I cant wait for the next book.

An amazing read and great storyline for most ages, however, the age rating needs to be higher. I would not recommend this book for young children under the age of 12. But other than that, loved it.

Though I do not agree with Alyssa’s choice at the conclusion of the book, I know I’m biased MORPHEUS fanatic!, it was still a remarkably creative and well written series!!

I dislike the fact that there were MORE unmasked shoppers in your Oxford ME. store. than masked ones. I saw them pawing the veggies etc. If you dont change this policy, you will lose a lot of the masked people.

we don’t want to be 6′ away from a person who is unmasked. MY mask is protecting THEM. what about them contaminating me?? I would rather not be in the same room as unmasked people. I cant accept the minor distance as safe without masks.

they are cheap and easy to get. everyone has a bandana. no excuses. Thank you.

As always, a page turner. We get a cool glimpse into vampire society with The Harlequin. Never a dull moment with Anita and her guys!

I have read this series twice. It’s like one of those movies you love to watch more than once. Anita Blake is a vampire hunter. She raises the dead. Her abilities are above what she ever expected. She has many men in her life.

Different monsters as she calls them. A vampire & wolf is part of her strength. She has beasts she can call. One has to read the series to appreciate what a strong character Anita Blake is. Not to mention how she had to let go of her inhibitions when it comes to her sex life.

Finally a heroin we can enjoy reading about. She has morals, strength & loyalty. Dont mess with the people she cares about or she’ll be hunting you with a vengeance! Good reading!.

I have been following this series about ‘Anita Blake’ Vampire executioner and re-animator since the 1st book. Each book is a story in itself, and they all relate to each other. I have found the books difficult to put down, Laurell K.

Hamilton has created a sterling character in her books and all the other characters support Anita well. These books are about preternatural beasts and some of the monsters and beasts are absolutely brilliant creations, many of which you will know and recognise and some you won’t.

Her slant on what they can do and how they can raised, killed or captured makes her books brilliant.

This book was another great one. I could hardly put it down. That being said I got lost in a few places, my own fault because I have not been able to find Narcissus in Chains ( book 10 ) anywhere online here or in my local book store.

But there was enough information in the text to catch up. I would not recommend reading these books with out reading from the beginning, there is to much information to be lost if you just jump into the middle of the series you will be completely lost.

Another amazing story by Laurell Hamilton! If you have never read any of her Anita Blake series, then you don’t know what you are missing!! The stories will grab you and never let you go! You can’t wait till the next book is out!! As you get pulled into Anitas life, her entire world begins chafing and she battled serious creatures.

But her toughest battle is her inner battle trying not to fall in love. What a ride! I recommend this entire series to anyone who is into monsters.

I had borrowed book from library and renewed it, having read entire Anita Blake series. This book was very pivotal re character and plot development. I bought it because I wanted to thoroughly understand complexity of relationships between Anita’s growing “powers”, her ties to Jean- Claude, Damian and Nathaniel.

I find the situation of being a new “triumverate” fascinating, especially since the characters themselves are confused about their unique, unexpected situation. Of course, all the eroticism is very entertaining as well.

I particularly like Anita’s tender scenes with Jean-Claude, Nathaniel and Richard. Her internal “moralizing” dialogue keeps a certain balance with reality.

Another book in the Anita Blake series by Laurell K Hamilton, number 12. This one is a bit longer than most of the other books, but only because there is so much to read and love! This book develops the characters, relationships and magic almost more than any of the other books in the series, so you need to be paying attention, but if you have a few hours to set aside each day or even a whole day, you can get through it quite easily.

This is most definitely a recommended read, and if you’re new to the series it’s a good idea to find the other books and read those as well. I can’t guarantee you’ll like them, but I can say that this is the only set of books that I can read over and over again without getting tired of it.

Try it – you may find yourself addicted!.

I’ve loved all the books in this series. If you haven’t read them all, by all means do! There’s action,comedy, suspense, romance and mystery. and all revolved around HOT Highlander Vamps, shapeshifters and they’re lives.

Each book is set around a different employee of McKay S&I. Each one is a much read, especially if you love vampire fiction! Can’t wait for the newest book this month!.

This is a great additional to this series by Kerrely Sparks! I enjoyed the characters and their entertaining banter, and the steamy love story. If you’ve read the others in this series, you don’t want to skip this one! It’s a fun read!.

Very compelling, with bits of humour.

This book is in a series that I read and I am collecting the series. Laurell K. Hamilton is one of my favorite writers. These books are the Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter Novels and I would recommend these to any one who likes vampire and shapeshifter books.

These are adult books.

This book was a bit of a let down after reading all of the others. Although I enjoyed it, I felt Ms. Hamilton strayed a bit while writing this one. There was just too much sex to fit the story line in this one.

Anita is supposed to fight evil and the monsters she faces are supposed to be the attraction of the plot. Not so much in this book. More and more it had to do with Ms. Blake’s sexual side effects of being involved with a werewolf and vampire.

I could have done without that particular exploration. Perhaps all will be explained in future episodes. I certainly hope so. Because if not, then I’m not too sure what the point of this episode is.

If you want and action packed supernatural thrill ride with a cool heroine- this is the book for you! Anita Blake is a hardcore, no-nonsense kind of girl with all kinds of complications in her personal life.

This book is part “who done it,” part werewolf- vamp novel, part romance thriller. I have nearly all of the Anita Blake series- don’t miss this book!.

L. K. Hamilton, for those who haven’t read her, is a mix of different genres. Mainly horror & romance but L. K. H. draws on her imagination & experience. She actually takes instruction in MMA like her characters.

Her novels are as realistic as can be though they deal mostly with supernatural creatures & circumstances surrounding said creatures. Largely because she combines all of these elements with her real world knowledge & research.

Basically one of the few whose books are based partially in fact & ring all the more true for that authenticity.

This is book number 19 in her series about Anita Blake, a vampire hunter (only bad ones), and necromancer (she raises the dead for a couple of hours for a very large fee). She is one of my 4 favorite authors like: Kelley Armstrong, Kim Harrison, and Charlaine Harris, and Laurell, of course.

! If you love dark supernatural stories, you will love this series. It gets extremely erotic and sensual, and you may find Laurell’s stories about Anita Blake are not for you. So you should read the first book before reading this one.

Otherwise you will be confused. In fact you will not be ready to read this one for quite some time, because you have to read at least the first 5 or 6 in her series to somewhat understand this one. Although Laurell does a great job of explaining past events.

!!! I have not finished this book, but am 1/2 way through with it. This is a great series, and you really have to pay attention to the plot of her supernatural series books. This one is no exception.

The basic plot of this book so far has been a “passionate power struggle”. This is a continuing theme in her books, and has continued. I love her books. !! Including this one. !!.

Anita’s love life has never been more trouble as Asher threatens to leave the City and Haven lashes out in a bid for Anita’s attention. But when two members of the Vampire Council fall under the influence of the Mother of All Darkness Anita and all her allies are forced to embrace their metaphysical abilities to a even greater degree to survive.

Over all I wasn’t super impressed with this book as it dealt almost exclusively with Anita’s attempt to gather more power to her group. However, I choose to look at this one as a build-up for the ultimate showdown rather than as a placeholder in the series.

This is the first in the Drake sister series. Although its a small book it does more than enough to entice you into the world of 7 magical sisters. Her talents are her gift to the people of her home town – Sea Haven.

Until. the day Damon Wilder turns up at her door. And suddenly she is the towns and Damons only hope. With the arrival of her other sisters we see the true power behind the 7 magical sisters.

The first of the Drake Sisters stories. Sarah finds true love with Damon Wilder. We are introduced to the special magic that is the love between all the sisters. Recommended for all!

I started reading this series based on a friends recommendation and fell in love with the Drake sisters. i could not put this book down. You feel their struggles as they choose between finding love and holding on to it.

How they feel about their magic and how they feel about each other. You realize while reading the book that although they have power flowing through them, they put their loved ones first. I can’t wait until I can get their hands on the next Drake sister novel.

Okay so this is a vampire romance novel. You get that? Like if you’re not up for either a romance novel, or a vampire novel, then this IS NOT the book for you! But if you’re up for this, then you’ll probably enjoy the Anita Blake novels.

Anita is a sasy chick, she’s also a bit of a bad-ass and kicks but litterally. Some of the plot is questionable, bit you need to read this for escapism and no other reason!. also if you continue to read the series it gets alot better and A LOT racier.

I have them all and some are truly terrible in all the good ways!.

Laurell Hamilton doesnt miss! This is the beginning of the series and real writing. Fall in love with Anita Blake, a smart and deadly woman. Smart and Deadly, you say? Fall in Love ? Just read the book.

Linda Hamilton is an impressive author. She blends all kinds of emotions and assessments of human nature into excellent reading material. If only we could all possess this kind of skill. The whole series keeps you wanting more and more.

Anit Blake’s character evolves brilliantly with her growing powers and the author makes it all achievable nd realistic – cant gets enough of her were animals and their abilities and her men are just as complimentary to her powers as she is to theirs.
