20 Best Sauces For Pizza Rolls (2023 Updated)

We are making 72 pizzas for a tailgate party next week in our new pizza oven so we wanted convenience and opted for both pre-made crusts and sauce. We wanted to know what was the best sauce and crusts so we purchased every brand we could find.

Ragu, Prego, great value, Dei Fratelli, Pomi, and a few others and had a min taste test party before the big event (GO BLUE). This was by far the best sauce. The Dei Fratelli was second, but too sweet.

The best crust was great value original thin crust, it beat all the other pre-packaged ones and was cheaper. Mama Marrys crusts never firmed up so the pizza drooped in your hand, they remained too soft no matter ho much you cooked them.

The great value crusts firmed up so you could hold the pizza, but did not become too hard to eat. All 10 people in the taste test had the same opinion. It was a unanimous combination (Great Value Crusts and Pastorelli.

One hint that we learned is to also use the finely shredded mozzarella as it melts better.

Very good sauce. The difference between this and a more expensive sauce is sugar. Pastorelli is less sweet, which is perfect, allowing you to adjust the sweetness to your own taste. Can’t do that with expensive sauces.

I been using this pizza sauce for 20 years and it is so good. Just the right thickness and spices. Love the 8 oz. Can it just a nice size. You can also use this sauce on Chicken parmaisan. Very good.

Have had many sauces over the years ( I’m 70 ) this is by far the best tasting pizza sauce I have ever had. Sweet but not too sweet. Chunky but not too chunky. I love this sauce. Even put a couple of tbsp.

I love this pizza sauce. I have bought it a few times in a row now and continue to return for it. It has a great flavor. I add a few extra spices to every sauce, this is no exception of course because I like bold flavors.

That being said this sauce is delicious and I would accept it without extra additions. The family actually prefers it as is and sneaks into adding it on their pasta sometimes. Shipping is speedy. It’s always packaged well.

Highly recommend this delicious pizza sauce. or if your family finds some microwave spaghetti lunches lacking in flavorful sauce. then maybe pasta sauce in personal sizes too.

When I buy sauce, whether it be for pasta or pizza, I always seem to have to add to it in some way. Spices, sugar, etc. This is the first sauce I’ve purchased where it was perfect right out of the jar.

The closest thing I can compare it to is the extra sauce I get when I order for a popular pizza restaurant. I hope they never stop making this. I’m ordering double what I need just to have on hand.

I have to preface my rating first with a couple statements: Firstly, I’m NOT a picky eater. Much like “Mikey” in the Life cereal commercials of the 80’s, I’ll eat practically *anything*. Secondly, I have bought, eaten, and thoroughly enjoyed every product Classico has made and I love them all and consider Classico to be a superior brand.

That said, I DO NOT FULLY UNDERSTAND MY EXPERIENCE WITH THIS PRODUCT. This sauce has the weirdest smell and the most off-putting, almost “sour” aftertaste. The product wasn’t out of date, nor had it gone bad (nor did it taste like it had gone bad) it was just.

very “weird” and. definitely “not right”. I noticed (as of the day of this writing) that one other person had a similar thing to say about this product, but most rated it highly. So, maybe it’s just me (and that other person)?.

First off, let’s just say I CANNOT stand Ragu spaghetti sauce. But, they make a mean pizza sauce! It is tasty when making regular white bread pizzas, french bread pizzas, and your own dough pizzas. I actually the Ragu Pizza Quick Sauce much better than the Homestyle, it has more kick than this, but this will do if the other one is not available.

I have tried all the jarred and canned varieties available in town at the different stores, and this is definitely the best brand. No need to make homemade. But try to get the other Ragu variety if you want more kick.

Zero stars. Real disappointed with ragu pizza sauce. Made pizza dough from scratch with assorted toppings and sauce made the pizza taste bland and I added seasonings on pizza. I will not use again, regular tomato sauce or tomato paste would have been better.

I am a 60 year old pick eater (in great health). I like Italian seasonings, onion powder, and garlic powder, but I don’t like chunks of onion, garlic, or peppers in my sauce. Ragu Homemade Style Pizza Sauce is excellent! It’s got the natural flavorings I like without the chunks and without added sugar.

It’s the best tasting pizza sauce I have ever had. I even put it on my pasta.

I give this pizza sauce 5 stars! I love pizza but can’t have that much sodium. Making my own pizza, it is fresher and follows dietary restrictions.

The perfect jarred marinara. I usually despise jarred pasta sauces, but for the convenience factor, I have a pantry full of them. Paired RAO’s Marinara with a thick spaghetti and was blown away. Full of flavor, not overly sweetened and a nice consistency that coated the pasta perfectly.

The jar easily accommodated a pound of dry pasta without any waste. I was a little concerned to see a bit of oil had risen to the top of the sauce in the jar, but once combined with pasta, it was not noticed.

In-fact, I think it helped add to the sauces mouthfeel. I was also very happy that this sauce was not tasted several hours later due to indigestion either. I look forward to trying their other sauces and cleaning out my pantry of “convenience” jarred pasta sauces and adding full flavored, delicious and convenient jarred pasta sauces from RAO’s.

I really love this brand Alfredo sauce, so when we were making homemade pizzas, I decided to pick up this brand pizza sauce. It is so perfect Lee flavored, has little chunks of tomato, and is very fresh tasting.

It was around four dollars. I used the rest of it to mix with leftover chicken alfredo, to make a creamy red sauce with penne. The flavor was so delicious, and definitely going to make a full-size recipe of that once again!! .

I agree with others, this is a fantastic brand. For a fully prepared pizza sauce this is hands down the best. I owned a family restaurant and we didn’t specialize in Italian food, but we had a few Italian items.

The goal of any restaurant is to serve something better than you can get at home. We used Dei Fratelli marinara. It was recommended by our food supplier and he was right. It’s the best on the market, bar none.

We would doctor it just a tiny amount to make it our own, but honestly it was great straight out of the can. I no longer own a restaurant but was pleased to see that Walmart carries Dei Fratelli. If you live in the U.

S. there is no better brand of tomato products. Dei Fratelli is in a lot of restaurants. This pizza sauce is no exception. It’s better than all of the big retail names and tastes like a spicy, fully seasoned pizza sauce right out of the can.

I don’t think you need to do a thing to it. It’s thick and rich and tastes like something you would get from a pizza shop. If making pizza at home give this a try, I think you’re going to love it.

Very surprised to find something for the homemade pizza crowd that rivals the MIDS pizza sauce. Consistently Great Product. tomatoes are fresh and zingy and not cooked to death/singed tasting/overcooked etc.

Best pizza sauce hands down. With homemade, you have to get the perfect ratio/combination of ingredients to make a tasty sauce with the right consistency. You just open this, pour and swirl with a spoon.

I’m not sure why it isn’t more well known. Perfect for Neapolitan style pizza. Juicy without being too gloopy.

This is a great tasting pizza sauce that has a little pepper heat to it. These jars are tiny about half the size of a regular jarred pasta sauce. The price is about 25% higher on Yummy Bazaar than elsewhere.

We made homemade pizzas with the Classic Pizza Sauce and it was just perfect. We’ve made our own sauce from scratch and bought other jarred sauces, but this one is the best we’ve tried so far.

Makes excellent flatbread pizzas. Simple ingredients tomatoes, Mediterranean Sea salt, basil, oregano, onion and natural flavor. I added a little Parmesan cheese before topping with mozzarella and pizza toppings.

Just bought this pizza sauce at Super Store and will be buying this in the future. It is not super spiced, which I love. It’s mild but still flavourful. It’s a good value at just over $2 for an almost 400ml bottle.

I would recommend trying this pizza sauce.

This pizza sauce is delicious! Its always my go to when i want to make a pizza, it also goes great with making calzones. I always add just a little garlic powder although the flavor is delicious as is, it just gives it more flavor.

We love making homemade pizza at home and I use to add hot sauce to my pizza sauce, but now I can just use Prego Bold & Spicy Pizza Sauce. It has a kick to it, but it is not too spicy. This is great for pizza or even to dip breadsticks into.

When I make homemade pizzas, I only use Rao’s pizza sauce. It is just as good as the sauce I remember eating at their restaurant all those years ago back in NYC. It is the perfect base layer for any pizza, full of robust flavor that just can’t be found in many pizzerias today.

I keep this handy for pita/french bread pizzas. Great quick and easy lunch/snack. Being in a jar rather than a can makes it super convenient! The taste and texture are perfect for what I use it for, matched with tillamook shredded mozzarella and light Target brand finely shredded cheddar blend.

It tastes pretty much exactly like their marinara sauce, and has essentially the same consistency. Which is fine for a spaghetti sauce, but is downright uninspiring as a pizza sauce. For the price, it should be absolutely popping with dense tomato flavor.

It’s not bad. A little lackluster maybe, but it gets the job done. I made a pizza casserole with this, ground beef, pepperoni, mozzarella and Parmesan cheese baked in the oven. The sauce wasn’t amazing, but for low-carb pizza sauce I’ll take it.

If you can’t live without low-carb pizza sauce, give this a shot.

Taste good and its healthy. What else can I say? I won’t be buying other brands unless they use healthier ingredients like primal does. I sometimes do add a few drops of liquid stevia that gives this sauce a little sweeter flavor.

I also add a little garlic and Italian seasoning sometimes just to intensify the flavor.

I love this stuff. It’s not only for pizza! We use it weekly in place of spaghetti sauce. It is delicious. There is just enough in the container for spaghetti for two to three people. My grandson and great grandson love my spaghetti.

This is the best pizza sauce out there, and Walmart has the best price. My kids love pizza (I do too) but it is very expensive to order out. With this product we make our own pizzas and choose our own toppings.

There is actually more sauce in each can than you actually need. It makes a good sauce to dip your garlic bread in too!.

For some reason I can’t tell a lot of difference when it comes to spaghetti sauce, but it’s different with pizza sauce. A goooood pizza sauce can make or break a pizza. You can pile anything you want on a pizza, but if the sauce isn’t good, I can tell.

I love a saucy pizza. This is a nice subtle sauce, particularly if you don’t care about the sauce. It doesn’t shine in any particular way but it’s still delicious.

The only pasta sauce I will ever buy. It is THE BEST! My only complaint is that it is kind of expensive per jar. But it is almost worth it!! Would definitely recommend.

This product initially was unappetizing to me because squeezable isn’t how I would describe how I’d like my pizza sauce served. I then noticed it’s uses like it’s extremely great value so for homemade pizza on a budget this is perfect.

The flavor is alright. I see it as you get what you pay for and that sums up this product perfectly. If I had to describe the flavor I would compare it to the make your own pizzas from Lunchables. The flavor was almost identical to their pizza sauce packets.

If I’m ever in a pinch to make a pizza that’s going to cost me little to nothing, I’ll remember this product otherwise it’s rather forgettable to be frank. Now as far as creativity goes I’d say it’s unique.

Never in my life have I seen squeezable pizza sauce marketed and I’m sure it would appeal to someone in a fast paced lifestyle, but the product just doesn’t fit my current lifestyle. I received product reimbursement in exchange for my honest review.

What I like about is how good it tastes by itself, a good ingredient in my opinion is one that tastes good before you mix it in with the recipe. I like how mild the sweetness is it’s actually fairly perfect not too salty and not too strong tomato wise.

Carbohydrates wise, the low sugar content is pretty appealable to Keto people. What I don’t like is the preservative and modified food starch but that is personal preference according to my diet. it could use a little more kick at the end of the flavor like a little spice to go with that after taste.

The aftertaste is a little dull and could use a little kick but that would be making a new product. honestly pretty worth the flavor and taste. Long term won’t be something so eat everyday but something worth snacking with or worth eating every so often type meals.

This was my first time trying this pizza sauce. I usually like to make things from scratch, but decided to try this instead. For store-bought sauce, it’s pretty good! It definitely packs a tomato punch and has those hints of garlic you’re looking for in a pizza sauce.

I love that there’s no artificial flavors or colors, and that everything in the ingredient list is pronounceable. I also love that it’s not packed with calories, oil/fat free, and very low in sugar. It helps to keep my pizza on the lighter side.

It’s also great for dunking pizza rolls (there goes my diet haha!), or scratching the pizza itch with English muffins and turkey pepperoni. I wish there were more herbs and spices to it to make it a little more interesting, but all in all I’m quite satisfied.

Our usual pizza base sauce has been unavailable for some time so we bought this one. What a mistake! Turns out it creates a very wet and uncooked pizza (the base sauce needs up to be dry) Did anyone at Waitrose try this product before they put it on the shelf? The problem with a sauce like this is that if it’s poor quality it will spoil all the other ingredients.

Sadly our pizzas were unedible, all the other Waitrose products we put with it were ruined and our evening meal didn’t happen. If that wasn’t bad enough we bought 2 tins of the stuff!!!!! Easily the worst product we have ever bought from Waitrose, please take it off the shelves.

I’m very fussy. I make my own dough and having family in Italy I have experienced authentic. Italian pizzas often. Usually I make my own sauce but I often find our tomatoes too acidic, whether tinned or fresh.

Mutti tinned tomatoes are the closest I can find to what I’m looking for so I was happy to try this sauce. It’s good. I use it. Very happy! It’s quite thin, as it should be – pizza should only have a film of tomato base – and it’s not too acidic, nor overloaded with herbs.

I’m using it instead of making pizza sauce and am intending to keep a stock in the cupboard.

Perfect consistency, great flavour. Seems rather expensive, but a tin of this easily covers 4 large pizzas, so it’s reasonable. Had previously used concentrated tomato purée but it’s too thick and intense; this is far better and I’m glad to have discovered it.

I really like the great organic ingredients and the flavor of this sauce! I put 1/2 a can in a microwave safe dish and add little cubes of Swiss cheese ( mozzarella would be good also or just add sharp cheddar), then I cover the dish and zap it for a min or so ( microwaves vary so check to see the cheese is just starting to melt).

I serve this treat with Cauliflower Nacho chips and any tortilla chip is good too. Easy! Yummy !.

Walmart’s packing methods need quite a bit of improvement. Three cans arrived badly dented.

This sauce has full taste, a little tangy, a little consumeh tomatoeh, well spiced. Blends well with varied toppings and supports mozzarella nicely. The fact it comes in cans is a. If they could include a little mushroom and olive bits I would recommend it to God himself.
