Best Sat Math Prep Book (2024 Updated)

Great Review. Very Well Organized.

Some of the pages are cut off and dark on the sides. I thought it would be an actual ebook looks like maybe photocopy.

Really impressed with this SAT prep book. Would high recommend!

For example on Page 30, the example answer was wrong. (1. 5) + 5 _____ 3 + (2. 5) , the answer was 4. 5 < 5. 5, which is wrong. On page 33, the first question was wrong too. The answer should be 0. 1 for the rate of change, but the book said it was 10.

I bought bc I was given an 4th grade one for my grandson going in to 4th grade & wanted him to get leg up; using the same thinking, I ordered an 8th grade for granddaughter going into 8th; it was a bit too difficult for her – she struggles w/ math so I ordered the 7th grade book to give her a refresher.

I am VERY impressed with this company!.

We use this book as a supplement to our 8th grader’s math curriculum for homeschooling. We love how easily it breaks down each lesson. My daughter finishes each day being more confident in her math abilities.

This book is a one stop shop for quick worksheets for the different standards. I actually purchased this for my special education classroom as I was tired of going on-line and printing different worksheets to match the different standards.

I am not using this as my curriculum, but instead as a resource to provide more support/practice for my students. It is well organized by standards.

This book has a few incorrect information. The answers provided in the answer key are not correct and the scoring record does not match the number of questions for the post, mid and final test in the workbook.

Bought this for my granddaughter and she said she really likes it. Hopes to be able to improve her great skills already.

This Math book is a great resource for teachers, students, and families! Teachers can use this in the classroom with individual students, or families can purchase this for extra practice at home. It includes all the skills students learn in first grade.

I am giving this a 3 because I have only just started using these books. I have used them before when they weren’t common core and they were reasonable. I am Canadian and like that they have a conversion unit for Metric and Imperial measurement.

They do need to expand on it though and introduce things like Kevin’s Hockey Dad Makes delicious chocolate milk (this is a rubric thing my teacher made for remembering Kilo, Hecta, Deca, Meter, deci, centi, and milli for meters and litres,etc.

I am currently homeschooling my two daughters with the Spectrum series. The book is printed very nicely. The paper is thick. So, it doesn’t rip when erasing. Overall, the book itself is appropriate for a first grader.

I love having access to this book. I am able to pull pages as support for my students when it is needed. It covers almost everything! I do wish there was more connection to place value and addition/subtraction.

This is good for repetitive practice. It’s a great addition to my classroom and I love that I can upload to SeeSaw and have my students complete it online.

I use this book when I need some extra practice or reinforcement of a particular concept. I home school my children, several of whom have special needs and cannot move along as fast as most home school curriculum require.

I find I need supplements or extra sheets so they do not get behind and end up frustrated. These workbooks help. I am a brand ambassador for Carson Dellosa and I received this product free for review.

I bought this for my child for extra practice. It is the perfect workbook and I love the pre and post tests. Fantastic to confirm his my child is understanding the concepts.

This review is for “The Official SAT Study Guide” (“For the March 2005 test and beyond”) I bought this book for a good price new from Amazon. com, but I was skeptical at first. I mean, the test is given by College Board.

and they wrote a guide to help you ace it??? But I’ve read quite a few SAT and SAT 2 help books by now and believe me: this book is one of the best out there. I’ve read books by Kaplan and Princeton Review and they are LOADED with typos that a 6th grader (SERIOUSLY!!) would catch.

I also have read guides by Barron’s because I took a class that required the Barron’s books and they also have one or two mistakes (usually the case where the answer is A and the key at the back of the book says its C but goes on to explain why A is correct).

My guess is that these companies are so in a rush to release a new THICK book every year, that editing is just on vacation? ANYWAY, this book is boring but so is every single other SAT book. At the beginning, they have these 3 or 5 page chapters that tell you the same thing (“now remember: with math questions, make sure you read the directions ahead of time so you don’t waste time on test day” NEXT Chpt: “Now remember: with reading questions, make sure you read the directions ahead.

“) BUT, this book really teaches you some neat tricks but basically POUNDS you with practice, practice, and more. you know, which is the only way you can study for these tests. MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE: I took this test in April 2006 with very minimal studying before and NO SAT BOOKS READ.

I took it again in June 2006 and GAINED about 100 points in reading and math. I dropped 10 points in writing 🙁 I don’t know if it was the book, but I’m willing to put a heavy bet on yes. OVERALL: This book is well laid out with enough to keep you busy for a while (reading AND practicing).

Not any typos (or at least that I can remember now that I’ve finished it). GREAT BOOK! If any down side, its the constant strategy by COllege Board to take make the book seem big to those jittery parents and write some things over and over.

Another bad thing is the constant ads to “Don’t forget to buy the “Official SAT Online Course” and other College Board products, but they are on the sides of the book and you can just ignore them. Hope this review helped! -HS senior in PA.

This is a great SAT prep book that is published by the makers of the test itself, The College Board. This is a very important detail because the sample tests are extremely true to form. In my experience with other test-prep book publishers, such as Princeton Review, Kaplan, and Barrons, (and trust me I have plenty) sample tests are consistently more difficult or over-simplified relative to the actual College Board tests.

What’s more is that all basic SAT strategy is covered succinctly within this book’s pages; I would reccommend it to anyone looking for a quick, easy, and acurate study guide for the SAT.

My 7th grade son was asked to take the SAT or ACT this year and although the exam date is not yet upon us, I feel confident that as he continues to prepare with the help of this guide, he will be ready once the date is here.

It is well-written with thousands of questions that are identical in form to the ones included in the actual exam. It is the ONLY guide written by the authors of the exam – I would highly recommend it to all teenagers!.

My son is enjpying Saxon Math 1, he is corfortable with the maths, its looks like a review of what he has already learned in the past. I really liked the structure and layout of Saxon MATH 1, the rapetition and reminder are great for my son, this is the type of Math Curriculum he needs.

A Math curriculum that keeps reviewing what the child has already learned and slowly introducing new topic. very practical Math Curriculum! I will recommend.

We used Saxon math for our kids through high school. In fact, we have another curriculum we use for everything else and when we saw how well Saxon prepared our older kids for the ACT, we scrapped that curriculum’s included math and started buying Saxon from the early grades for our littles.

Have you ever experienced the situation, in math, where you’d learned how to do a problem, but then a couple months later, you couldn’t remember how to complete that kind of problem any more? That doesn’t happen with Saxon because one learns how to do a new type of problem and gets one of those problems each day for the rest of the year.

You never forget what you learned while you “overlearn”, which is essential for math mastery. Saxon calls it “incremental development”–and it works!.

When used in conjunction with the teacher’s manual, these worksheets and flashcards make a very good 1st grade math program. There are more problems available that I feel are necessary so I only assign about half of them to my children (students).

I like that I have the option of assigning more problems if they are struggling in a certain area. This program lays a great foundation for math. It does not have all the colors and pictures like some other programs, but does include some games and when used with math manipulatives can be just as fun (in my opinion).

First lesson: Understanding Absolute Value. “The absolute value of a number is a number that is the same distance from zero on a number line as the given number, but on the opposite side of zero. -8 and 8 are absolute value because they are the same distance from zero on opposite sides of the number line.

” Um, no. After puzzling over this grossly horrific lie, I realized that it was a typo. The page of exercises that followed asks the student to find the “opposite” of given numbers. And the next lesson is about absolute values, and defines it correctly.

So, it’s a typo. Every spot that says “absolute value” is supposed to say “opposite”. A typo. But a massively huge one. Not just once, not twice, but three times (lesson title and twice in the paragraph).

The book is a nice study guide for reviewing topics covered in the classroom. What the student should know questions have the correct answers at the end of the book.

On lesson 4.4 page 62 the answer to question two is incorrect. The answer sheet should say 11/14 × 16 but it said 14/11 ×16. I believe that you should fix this mistake.

Amazing book for those who don’t want to spend too much time on screens. Children can practise everything from the curriculum.

It appears to cover all the topics in detail, from browsing through it. Its an extension of the topics from the Year 1 Maths book.

I bought this book for my daughter and it was already filled in!

My son does online schooling and these workbooks provide great additional worksheets for his course. I used to look online for supplemental materials but with these workbooks everything is there, organized by topic.

Excellent supplemental learning tool For homeschoolers. We bought the third grade math book and really love it. The assessments are very thorough however I would still suggest a set curriculum. But this is excellent review work.

Great resource and go to book for extra practice, small group work, before school work or homework! Love this book!

Saxon math books including this one cover the material well and are very good about reviewing old material in every homework assignment.

Saxon books are excellent! I used these in teaching years ago. This will combat the worthless common core teaching of today.

This is a great resource for Saxon Advance Math. A highly recommended companion for the text book.

To make sure no fundamentals get missed, we decided to purchase this for our daughter to continue her math adventure and further her learning into the summer. She is in advanced math for 2nd grade & this is the perfect comprehensive workbook to make sure all the areas are introduced & completely covered.

The Spectrum series is a favorite because it is so thorough and is in line with any state core curriculum. Always a good choice, in any subject!.

I like the simplicity of this books. They cover everything the kids need to know with a simple approach. I bought the digital version which give me the chance to revisit some of the material from previous weeks just to keep everything fresh for the kids.

I bought this for my son to practice math at home. It is a good workbook for at home practice. The only down fall is, it needs to have some instructional help. Sometimes kids get confused. If they can see an example, it would help.

I tend to confuse him more when I try to explain it to him. I just know how to get the answer.
