I was pretty surprised at how well this worked. I honestly did not expect much but the price was great so I said why not. If I have somewhere to go I spray this on damp hair and use a round porcupine brush, with both the boar and nylon bristles, and blow dry all my hair straight.

Using this type of brush yields the best results for me. I usually shower at night so I try to let my hair air dry but before it dries completely I spray the sections around my face that are curly, wavy, and frizzy then blow dry those areas straight.

In the morning it is still looking pretty good. If I am staying home or just running errands I will fix some of the spots that need to be smoothed out from sleeping on and I am good to go. Like some others have mentioned this does not leave a slick residue all over my bathroom.

I can use as much as I want and never have problems with this leaving my hair greasy or weighed down, I never spray near my roots though. However, I almost feel like my hair is becoming drier in the areas I use this most.

Not 100% sure but it sort of looks like it so I do not feel like it is protecting my hair all that much. Helping to smooth yes, protect ??? Not so sure. I will be trying something else next but I will not cross this off my list completely just yet especially because it works to smooth out my hair and you can’t beat the price.

I’ve tried a variety of different heat protectants lately because my Target stopped selling this flat ironing mist which was my go-to. Every flat iron protectant I’ve tried feels like it doesn’t work and my hair is super greasy looking from using them.

This heat protectant made my hair feel clean/not greasy at all is a great detangler too. I’m just going to have to order this from Amazon from now on because this is really the only heat protectant that works for my oily hair aside from Chi, but I like the price and smell of this one most.

I have been using this for quite a while. After reading some of the 1 star reviews, I thought I might be able to help those struggling to use this. I don’t spray it onto my hair. That didn’t work. I spray it into my hand and then apply it to my my hair.

I have fairly long hair so I first divide my hair into even right and left portions. Then I put five squirts into my hand and apply to the outer surface of my hair and five squirts to the underside; then I do the same to the other side.

This I do when my hair is damp. I also put a few squirts of hairspray in my hand and apply that to both sides. Then I use the flat iron after my hair is fully dry. I also airdry my hair so I often straighten it the next day.

It works fine for me. I don’t put my flatiron heat super, super high. So I have a little bit of wave which I like. I finish everything with a bit more hairspray. This controls frizz and helps to maintian the straightness of my hair unless the humidity is through the roof.

Then nothing helps! I hope this was helpful. I really think it’s a good product. I don’t think the smell is bad but maybe I have a bottle from before they changed the formula, if they changed it? Best wishes.

Frizz is reduced and leaves my hair very soft and silky to the touch. Only one light mist to each quarter of the perimeter of my head and one on the top for my medium fine hair is more than enough to use my flat iron on my hair to gain the control of my style without fuzzy Q-tip head.

Additionally, this product affords me to go three to four days without the need to wash my hair. I sleep on my hair and merely have to run a brush through it or my fingers for the style of the day! A little hair spray to finish the look.

I have been using this product for many many years literally since 2005-ish. It smells so good and it helps keep my frizzy thick wavy hair straight for days. If you use too much your hair will become really greasy but my hair I use three to five sprays on each 4 section and I’m good but on others it might be greasier on them.

Just play with what works for you. It’s the best and highly recommend trying this out yourself if you haven’t already.

I first got this several years ago for free at a festival and used it on towel dried hair, pea -dime sized amount and then blow dry. It always left my long, wavy, prone to frizz red hair sleek and smooth after a dry without any greasing or weighing it down.

I have thick wavy/frizzy hair (no curls) with highlight/low light to help deal with growing out grays. Paul Mitchell Straight Works is perfect for my hair. This stuff is thick so I use it sparingly in sections and comb it through, I then lightly spray Kenra Platinum Blow Dry all over to protect from blow dryer.

Works great together. This does not have heat protectant (as stated on bottle). If you use heat tools you should use a heat protectant with this. I love it!.

I do not recommend this product not only did it dry my hair, but it did absolutely nothing. My hair is curly and frizzy so I was really excited to try this product unfortunately it was a pure disappointment.

Thank Paul Mitchel my hair hates me more than ever. I will never use this product again, it said to put a little bit, but it did not work so I put more shocker shocker nothing happened. Bottom line is do not waste your money on a product that does nothing and the cheery on top breaks my hair and dries it out.

It smells nice but for me doesn’t do that much. I like this brand though. This product is definitely a balm as in it does not help shape your hair. It does help to smooth frizz but if your hair gets wavy and frizzy in humidity like mine does, this product does not have much impact.

I will use it up though. I think it definitely depends on your hair texture and what you need it for.

guys I got this product yesterday and as I was straightening my hair I knew it was gonna work. I wasn’t generous with the product, like I used a lot!!! Like a lot!!! Not on my roots though, just because I don’t like putting too much product there for buildup and my hair gets greasy fast!! But seriously if you have struggled with puffy hair I promise you this works! I recommend straightening right after you wash your hair, apply heat protectant, and this product to your damp hair ( it is a little bit sticky and stays on you hands but that’s just because your hair is wet, so just wash your hands) , brush it though, make sure it’s all even, add more if you know there’s certain spots that are worse than others (I did this).

and then blow dry with a brush to get it semi straight. And then just do small sections, no wider than the plate of your straightener. as you are straightening just use a fine tooth comb in front and just glide slow to get everything.

Wow I am impressed by this product. I read the discription and thought I would go ahead and give it a try. I am naturally dark brown, but I went blonde. Going blonde left me with dry brittle very damaged hair.

Lately it has been rough trying to blow dry straight all the little fly aways that comes with damaged hair. I applied this product on my damp hair generously. It felt like a thick sticky cream while applying, and I was nervous that it was going to make my hair sticky and dry or crisp.

I applied a generous amount to 4 sections of hair (about the size of a quarder from root to tip). After blow drying with a round coarse brush I was able to have straight hair that looked amazing and it felt smooth.

Love it! Have curly hair so bought it to straighten my hair to cut it evenly, my hair has bounced back perfectly! I used leave-in first, wouldn’t recommend it on its own. Similar thickness and viscosity to castor oil, coats the hair well.

I used loads on top of my leave-in but it didn’t weigh my hair down or make it look product-ty, just super smooth. If you have very fine hair perhaps the spray version might be better, I chose this one because it’s more concentrated.

It’s a good-sized bottle that will last me a while especially as I’ll only need it for when I want to trim my hair, definitely recommend :).

Back story: I have natural hair, my hair is VERY thick, coarse and fast to dry into a tangled mess if i dont hurry and dry it. I tried this at a friends house after she washed my hair. INSTANTLY could FEEL how soft it was and how easily my hair was to comb through after being washed.

It had shine and was super soft. Was not at all heavy and the smell is very light, clean and fruity. Another plus is that this heat protector is alcohol free. I suffer from seborrheic dermatitis and my scalp can become red an inflammed.

I try to avoid all alcohol based products in my scalp because of this, if i can help it. I definitely LOVE this product and will be buying my OWN bottle.

I’m a huge fan of Aveda products. I use most of their skin care products. But this smooth infusion product forced me to leave a review, this product is a huge waste of money. My hair became super dry and frizzy after using this.

I followed the instructions properly every time I use this but it doesn’t help with any kind of smoothness. I have wavy hair from mid length and straight hair from bottom. I had hair smoothening two year back from some salon that’s why new growth coming in is wavy and bottom of the hair are straight.

I used this product on my wavy hair but it looks more like wave or curl enhancer than hair smoothening. It just made my waves or curls even worse and did nothing on the smoothening side as it supposed to do.

My hair feels super dry after using this. Aveda should rename this product to curl enhancer. Smooth infusion is a misleading name!.

I purchased this a few weeks ago. I have very curly hair but love to straighten it. I was a little shocked at how small the tube was (reason for the 4 stars & not 5). The product was easy to apply & did a good job.

I have incredibly thick hair so straightening it is usually an hour long ordeal and it still looks wavy when I’m done. If I put the size of a fine in before straightening and again after throughout the whole head, my hair will look and stay straight all day.
