20 Best Pre Poo For Low Porosity Hair (2023 Updated)

I’m obsessed with prell shampoo. Everytime I’m in the market I pick up 4 bottles, sometimes 5. I absolutely love it. My haircare is very simple just as women used to have in the 70s (watch the old prell commercials on YouTube!) I’m a wash with shampoo, no conditioner or leave in oils none of that junk but sometimes a few drops of baby oil then once air dried (I also NEVER use heat I don’t own any tools) I go in with my handmade Kent brush or my mason pearson and do my 100 strokes morning and night.

My hair is also its own natural color no dye atall and hip length and naturally straight (I’m a 25 year old woman). And yes I wash scalp and ends just like in the commercials and I get no split ends.

Your hair needs to be washed completely out and prell does that. It makes your hair so full with body and doesn’t make it flat and dirty and has a lovely gardenia fragrance. I do not buy into the whole sulfate free speel as woman had beautiful hair using them in the past.

The key is staying natural. If more woman went natural instead of all the wild hair colors and burning tools they could reap the benefits of beautiful long natural hair. Prell reminds me of the times woman followed their natural beauty and that’s exactly what I do myself (I am a vintage lover) this shampoo stands out against all the please love me frilly dilly bottles full of oils and trash that make your hair dirty and do nothing.

Your hair does not need any of the junk it simply needs to be clean and your natural oils utilized with a high quality boar bristle brush. Prell is here for us simple kind of gals that love a freshly washed head of hair and fall for no gimmicks.

I have fine, dry hair that has been through a lot thanks to many years of hair coloring and bleaching. I’ve tried many different shampoos to help keep my hair healthy without stripping it or drying it out (which is most drugstore shampoos), but couldn’t find any until using Prell.

I don’t wash my hair everyday, which helps, and I use a quarter size of Prell. It has a satisfying lather and leaves my hair feeling clean, but not dried out. Sometimes I don’t even need to use conditioner or other hair products, I can just shampoo and let my hair air dry, which is shiny and feels so, so soft.

Don’t feel put off by the super cheap price tag and think it’s low quality; it may not work for every hair type but it’s great for mine and is worth a try!.

About a month ago, I brought myself some SheaMoisture Low Porosity Detangler Grapeseed & Tea Tree Oils Leave-in Detangler, and yessss, it works GREAT! The most crucial characteristic of low porosity hair is moisture resistance; that’s my hair all the way.

I recently came across an article about hair porosity, which I’d never heard of, and discovered that I have low porosity hair. All my life, I’d been using the wrong type of products on my hair. I did a lot of research and this product always came up in the discussion.

So, the shampoo and leave in hoping it would do something for my dry gummy feeling hair. Oh. My. Goodness. My hair has never felt better! I’ve tried other products since discovering ya’ll, but I always have to rewash with your products.

The products have an incredible smell. My entire family loves them. I particularly love the low porosity shampoo but the leave in detangler had a nice slip to it and beautiful smell. I have extremely low porosity hair so sometimes even the low porosity leave in makes my hair feel weighed down.

That said, it does leaves my hair beautifully soft. That is a big struggle with low porosity hair since the hair shaft is always too tightly closed to get adequate moisture. Overall I’m very satisfied with the products and will be lying again.

This is my first time trying a pre shampoo treatment and WOW ! Mielle does not seem to disappoint, my hair loves this stuff. I applied the product to my scalp only as directed, left it in for like 30 min then washed with my Mielle rice water shampoo and I am satisfied with the results.

I have type 3 curls that tends to get dry when washing. I noticed a difference in hydration when applying this product before shampooing. My scalp also feels cleaner and more refreshed. I will be repurchasing this product again.

I would give it 5 stars, but I would like to use the product a couple more times before doing so.

I received my purchased products and I must say I was very impressed with packaging. But wait. It doesn’t stop there. The pre-shampoo gave my hair a moisturized soft feel that only allowed the shampoo to work magic once applied.

After the wash my hair felt amazing and I hadn’t even got to the conditioner part that gives the hair the final great feel. I gotta say I’ll be buying more and trying other MIELLE products to get that great feeling for my hair.

This product is simply amazing! What usually takes me 2-3 tries to get my hair to lather only took one with this. After taking down my protective style, I lightly misted my hair with water along with this product.

I didn’t have to apply much. It made my hair super soft and hydrated, but I was not prepared for how it was going to help my shampoo. This is a great investment for preserving your shampoos and most importantly – time! It also smells great which is always a plus.

This mask is seriously brilliant. I have shoulder length hair with extensions and colour. I didnt realisd that i could easily get 2 (maybe 3) applications from one sachet. Theres loads of product in it.

My hair feels great afterwards.

This mask is amazing! I apply it before showering (I let it sit for 30-45 min) and wash with the Cream cleanse shampoo. It leaves my hair silky and moisturized. Best for thick, coarse, curly and/or ethnic hair.

This is a nice product, which is enjoyable to use. I apply it from roots to tip the night before I’m going to wash my hair, comb it through, and leave it to dry before going to bed. Since I have long hair and quite a lot of it, this does mean I use a lot product, which makes it not great value for money; but that will obviously be different for different people.

When I wash my hair, it basically feels like it’s already been conditioned, and it’s lovely. Once I’ve then shampooed and conditioned it as normal though, I’m not really sure it’s makes a huge amount of difference, if any at all.

Having said that, I don’t colour or heat-style my hair so it’s in pretty good condition as it is, so maybe I just don’t get the full benefit of this treatment. Personally I really like the smell, but my husband quite strongly dislikes it and thinks it’s too sweet, so it’s evidently not for everyone.

Overall, it’s quite a nice treatment to use sometimes just because it’s quite enjoyable, but I’m not convinced it really makes a massive difference to my hair.

Let me begin by saying my curly hair routine contains ONLY Deva Curl products (6 products total, currently). I am a die hard fan and will never use any other products again. I have fine, long curls, with my curl pattern ranging from waves to ringlets.

This product is a SERIOUS let down for me. First- this product is not thick enough to provide the slip that I get from conditioner while detangling. Like many curly girls, I finger-comb my knots out while I have conditioner in my hair (One Condition Delight).

As per the instructions, I coated my wet hair prior to washing. In order to even remotely be able to comb my hair out, I had to use SO much product. The worst part is that it took me about 10 minutes LONGER to try to finger comb my hair when using this!! It was honestly infuriating.

I lost MORE hair than I normally do trying to get through it (even with an enormous amount of patience and delicacy). Second- One of the reasons finger combing with conditioner is preferable is that you are releasing knots at the END of your shower routine.

Therefore when you go to style, your hair should be relatively knot free. When you detangle at the beginning of your routine, however, you get more and more knots as you wash and condition your hair.

That’s a huge problem! I had to comb my hair an extra two times (one during wash and one during condition). All in all, I was left with a SIGNIFICANTLY longer wash routine (made me 20 minutes late for work), more hair loss, and scalp pain.

I am NOT here for this product. I can say with ease that this is the second worst product I have ever used on my hair. Will be returning immediately. Perhaps this is good for other curl types. but I am convinced if they would’ve tested on anyone with fine curls, they would have advised those with that hair type to avoid this product.

Super bummed because I have been waiting to try this since they first announced on Instagram.

I was so excited to try this product, as detangling is the most tedious part of my wash day. Unfortunately, this product fell short. I will admit, that it does what it claims and it cut my detangling process in half.

The only complaint is that my hair loss increased while using this product. I wasn’t sure initially, if this product was the culprit, so I used Wash Day Wonder on one side of my hair and regular conditioner on the other side.

The results were astounding. This proved my theory that it was definitely the WDW that caused my excessive hair loss. The pic below show’s the contrast between each side. It was extremely disappointing because I thought that I discovered the holy grail.

But unfortunately, the search continues. I had to return it.

I purchased this for my five year-old daughter who has corkscrew shoulder length hair. I am more than willing to spend good money to make sure that she loves her curly hair and knows how to properly take care of it.

We followed the directions carefully and ended up with hair that was far worse than when we began. Her hair was dry, straw like, and extremely knotted. It took a great deal of product to just do a little bit of her hair.

She was sobbing because the process took so long and she said it made her head hurt. We usually do the curly girl method and have her hair cut and styled at a DevaCurl salon near us. We are well trained in the DevaCurl products and have been happy until this point.

Thank goodness for Ulta’s awesome return policy! This product is just too expensive and far too ineffective. Save your money and just use conditioner and bamboo oil.

i never write reviews for anything but holy cow this quite literally saved my hair. for reference i have a mix of 2b, 2c, and 3a hair due to years of coloring and heat damage. i have quite a bit of hair and it’s thick, low porosity, and protein sensitive.

no matter what “hydrating” products i’ve used my hair has always felt dry and never absorbed anything i put in it. i got my colored red hair retouched recently and not quite sure what my stylist used to treat my hair this time around but it came out sooo dry and brittle.

after some research and finding out more about my hair type i decided to try this plus the conditioner that goes with it. and wow is all i have to say. i’ve never had hair this soft straight out the shower and it’s so easy to comb through now.

curls i thought were lost forever returned. i’m also noticing less hair fallout probably from my hair not being so tangled anymore. this shampoo cleanses really well without stripping my hair and it just overall transformed the look and feel of my hair.

10/10 recommend if you have a similar hair type.

I was skeptical at first especially with the price and size because I have really kinky curly thick hair (hairdressers have always told me I have enough hair for like 2 or 3 people). My hair is like a mix of type 3 and type 4 curls! But I was proven wrong, this is a must have! Using this as a prepoo, this definitely cut down the time I usually spend in the shower detangling my hair (I usually go a few days without combing or brushing which causes tons of tangles), I usually spend around 1 or more hours detangling my hair and this cut it down to less than 20 mins! After detangling my hair according to the directions on the bottle, my hair was really soft to the touch! After getting out of the shower, I used my conditioning creams that I just began using (My Black is Beautiful Tangle Slayer Conditioning Cream Type 4 Hair and Tangle Slayer Conditioning Cream Type 3 Hair) as well as a leave in conditioner that I just began using ( Creme of Nature Coconut Milk Detangling Leave In Conditioner) and didn’t use the foaming cream that I usually use and this really enhanced my natural curls, although my hair did turn out a little frizzy! I definitely recommend getting this product for my kinky curly haired people! It cuts down on the detangling time!.

Oh my gawd. This stuff is amazing on my hair. So far, it’s my absolute favorite pre poo. I don’t have to qwerty my hair and when I let it set in my hair, my hair is so dog gone soft. This has helped restore my natural curls back to their healthy state.

If your type 4 hair is dry and brittle, please use this stuff. You won’t be sorry.

Do you see the price!!???? I tried this on my daughters hair tonight after taking out her braids! I used it to moisturize her her while I took them out and the slip was awesome! The smell in itself is amazing to me it smells like fruity pebbles.

I love how soft it made her hair will use this as my prepoo go to from now on!!!!.

First, let me begin by saying this review covers all 4 products: Pre-cleanse, shampoo, conditioner and the conditioning & styling treatment. The fragrance is quite strong, in a good way. It has beautiful floral notes that stick around long after my hair dries(big plus for me!).

I’ve never used a 4 step process like this, so it was all new to me. The pre-cleanse seemed like a pre-conditioner of sorts. Similar in texture to a conditioner, just not as thick. The shampoo is where I started to think, “what is this!? It’s never going to get my hair clean!” But boy, was I wrong! The shampoo milk is the consistency of a very runny conditioner.

It doesn’t lather or bubble up at all, and I had to use quite a bit to get through to all of my scalp through my thick hair. I made sure to really get my fingers in and rub quite a bit all over my scalp.

I was convinced I was going to come out of the shower with hair that looked more dirty than when I went in, but I continued on. I applied the conditioner as I normally would, let it sit a few min and rinsed with cold water.

I finished up by applying the styling treatment to my dampened hair before allowing to air dry. I was completely shocked when my hair not only get silky smooth and full of volume, but my scalp also was incredibly clean and felt nicely moisturized.

If you try this product, don’t let the shampoo scare you! Really work it in and see how you like it!.

I have never used a pre-cleansing primer before. This pre-cleansing shampoo has an amazing smell to start off with! It easily leathers into my hair and as I ran my fingers through my hair, it detangled it quite well! The shampoo bottle is a decent size as it only takes a little bit, to get a lot of suds.

I’m completely impressed with just the pre cleansing shampoo that my hair already appears and feels so soft! After I used the shampoo. Again-smells amazing! A little bit goes a long way. It lathered up nicely and left my hair squeaky clean.

I followed up with the conditioner. The conditioner you defiantly do not want much. I could tell I used too much my first attempt, after washing it out. It hydrates quite well. I have long hair that goes to the middle of my back and probably could have gotten away with a dime size of the product.

I typically use about a quarter size on my normal conditioner. Even the styling crème smelled amazing! Once my hair was dry, I could smell the rose scent all day.

I never thought I would need to prime my hair and thought primers are only for the skin. But if you’re using this with the rest of this product line’s products , I can confidently say that this is AMAZING! I have very dried out and damaged hair that’s very brittle.

But because of the hair treatments I had, my hair has become very porous and on the roots where I’m oily it retains all the water and further exacerbates my oily scalp situation. This product has helped me in so many ways.

1) it helps my hair dry so much faster after showers SIGNIFICANTLY reducing my styling time l; 2) because my hair isn’t retaining moisture, it’s helped my oily scalp dry out; 3) my super frizzy and tangled hair hasn’t seen a light of day and it’s now much smoother and easier to brush and style! 4) it adds a lot of shine and I think added quite a look of “health “ to my hair.

The product smells great and does not induce any asthma! Very mild and divine smell!!.

I am heartbroken that this product is discontinued. I picked up a couple more Prenups when they during it’s last-chance sale so that I can use them for just a bit longer. The formula is divine for my fine, dry, hair with dry scalp.

The innovation comes in the spray technique. The spray is not a mist spray, it is a stream of product that you can spray onto your scalp in the shower. The product applies so well and is easy to spread on the scalp/at the roots.

You can wash it out immediately or leave in for about five minutes for a deep condition. This is the only mask I’ve found that really moisturizes my dry scalp without adding buildup. The conditioning goes all the way from the scalp to the ends, without needing additional product sprayed onto the hair.

So sad that Prenup is gone!.

So I tried this for the first time today and followed as directed. I have chemically treated hair and blow dry every day so my hair surely needs some rescuing every now and again. I’ve tried different hair masks before but never this one.

and for its sale price of $15 couldn’t hurt to try it, right? The one thing I thought was weird is how flimsy I think the spray applicator/dispenser is. Not sure if it’s just mine, but mine is not a mist spray but rather a stream hitting directly on my head so it doesn’t feel like the product isn’t really going anywhere.

I tried moving the dispenser a bit seeing maybe it’ll mist spray but I’m afraid of breaking it. So I instead just sprayed it on my hands, rubbed together, and massaged it onto my head and combed fingers down through hair.

Other than that, the product works great! my hair feels soft, nonstaticy, I feel more hydrated and bouncy. Great product, maybe if it had a different dispenser it’d be 5 stars though it’s not a deal breaker for me, I still plan on repurchasing again in the future.

I got this because of all the good reviews. But what can work for one may not work for the other. I have other luxury hair masks that I love, but thought this might de-thrown them. I didn’t like the spray feature.

It just seems gimmicky. It shoots out in a stream rather than a mist so you still have to work it in to the rest of your hair and you get some that just evaporates in to the air so there is wasted product.

I ended up spraying it in to my hand anyways so I didn’t waste any so it totally defeated the purpose. It ended up really drying my hair and made it coarse and wiry. You also get way less product for the price because it’s in a spray can as you would in a traditional cream.

If it had worked really well for me, I may have looked past some of the cons. I’m not saying this isn’t going to work for you because there’s a lot of people here who clearly like it so it may work well for your hair.

I have very fine hair if that helps.

This is probably the best curly-hair shampoo I’ve ever used on my friends/ family who have curly hair. Whenever I use it, their hair doesn’t even frizz in humid/hot weather. The smell is light and fresh and the shampoo lathers quickly and thick.

The curls are more defined and less stringy/matted down than with many of the cheaper curly-hair shampoos out there (I’ve tried Garnier, Pantene, Thermasilk, Herbal, etc). I just wish I could find it in-store!!.

This CHI Curl Preserve Treatment is great on Natural hair. I really does an amazing job at detangling your hair and making it more manageable. I have 4A type natural hair and this products worth great! It cuts styling time in half for me.

After another different brand product dryer out and destroyed my hair this product was a life saver! After 1 use my hair brushed with ease and my curls began coming back to life! I will absolutely purchase again!.

Love how this product defines my curls without flaking or crunchiness! The gel has a light, clean smel which I like very much. However, the bottle is very stiff and it is hard to squeeze the product out.

A larger jar would be a better option. Also, a 16 ounce container option would be good.

I have medium, thin, wavy, to curly hair. I have a oily skin type and a scalp that can get visibly oiley after 3 days. I do not have a issue with flaking. I have been testing this product for several weeks and have really enjoyed it and really appreciated the message behind the brand as well.

It is what made me really want to try this product. The smell is very faint to my nose but slightly sweet. The texture is oiley but very thin. It feels very light on the scalp. Directions say to use it 1-2x a week before showering or overnight and shower in the morning.

I leave it on for about 20 min. Sometimes less. I feel like my scalp is less irritable in the heat of the summer. I do not feel like I am any more oiley than normal. I don’t think 2 weeks is enough time to get the full results but my hair is more manageable and my scalp feels nice.

My hair does seem to be getting smoother. I will have to keep using it and get a bottle or two more before I can fully say that this is a new staple in my routine or not but I can say I want to buy more products from this brand and I am very excited they are a new option for people.

This product has done wonders for my scalp, I’ve always struggled with a really dry scalp since as long as I can remember. I’ve tried many different products but none really seemed to do the trick. When I found this product I can admit I had pretty low hope since nothing ever worked, but boy was I wrong! This product has done stuff for me that no other product has and it’s a clean product too! I no longer have flakes in my hair or itchiness and it’s honestly true that to have healthy hair u have to start at the root.

I feel like my hair has just become visibly healthier and feels so much better then before I started using this oil. It’s not hard to use either, the shorter wait time makes it easier to keep up with since I can be impatient and don’t have too much time in the morning to get ready.

I usually just do 10 minutes, when I can I’ll do the full 15. Honestly so grateful I found this product, would definitely recommend and look forward to trying out more ceremonia products in the future!.
