20 Best Pillow For Sleep Apnea Without Cpap (2023 Updated)

Bought the standard low loft foam pillow. When you first lay down and hit your head on the pillow on your back, it’s great and comfy. Fall right asleep. However, I wake up in the morning with my neck achy, my shoulders feels sore and painful, and I find myself sleeping lower on the pillow.

Almost like I have been hunching the whole night and my shoulders was pushed out instead of laying flat on the bed. The back of my head hurts and wants some kind of support or softness to ease the pain.

I usually wake up feeling this way when my pillow is too flat or too high. I have a Tempur-pedic medium neck pillow, and it helps but in the middle of the night, I need to take it away and sleep without a pillow.

Thought the Casper was the solution, but not great. May need to try the Leesa next.

Feels like it’s really well made and will last for a very long time. I’ve had it for about two full months. I felt like the provided enclosure was harder than what I had on my last pillow, so I swapped it.

I like that I don’t have to turn my pillow over two to three times a night anymore to give it more height. It dose feel harder on my ear. I sleep on my side and belly mostly. Four stars because it’s better than my old memory foam chunk filled pillow.

It would be five stars if it didn’t make my ear feel like it was being smashed after awhile. I can still sleep with it, so it’s not bad, it just could be a little bit better, but I have no idea how they would pull that off.

I’m a very picky pillow person and as a side sleeper this pillow is the perfect height. It stays in place well and I’m satisfied with these pillows. The best part about them is you can take the foam out inside so you can make it custom to you! The bag it comes in is reusable and they encourage you to use it to take the foam out so it’s the perfect height/fullness for you! I highly recommend this pillow and I love how you are able to plump the pillow and make it brand new again after a few nights of sleep.

I bought this for my fiancé and was so jealous that when another promotion was running I eventually bought one for myself. We have the same pillow but the quality of mine is significantly inferior. It’s almost like my pillow was not completely filled – it is so flat and flimsy, when I lay my head on it there’s no support whatsoever.

His pillow is noticeably fluffier and more supportive. When you compare them they don’t look at all the same. I’m so disappointed because it’s not a cheap product and I’m too far past my return window to exchange.

We have other products from Molecule that we love, so I don’t know what happened here.

I was really looking forward to getting this new pillow. I fully unzipped it because it said it would be similar to a soft pillow. Was not soft enough for me. Also, the pillow is so noisy and I can hear it every time I moved.

The cool side made no difference versus the cozy warm side. Lastly, it’s huge. Doesn’t fit inside of a stand pillow case. Overall, very disappointing. It is soft to the touch so I gave it 2 stars for that.

Would have given this pillow a negative star when I bought it 2 years ago (This is solely because I’m a Guy and I don’t read directions) HA HA. Seriously I got the pillow just because I’d tried every other pillow on the market to at least abate my BAD snoring also to alleviate pain from burst disks in my neck; pillow after pillow broke down even following directions and I figured there was no hope.

Then I remembered Casper beds; having slept on one of those mattress clouds from heaven gave me an epiphany. Hey give the pillows a try. As noted in the beginning the pillow fought me every inch in trying to get comfortable.

So what I learned was I think many people will not like this pillow due to the break in period at the beginning but once you have set you’re sleeping position. You will never go to another brand. The pillow does take some time being washed both the liner and the core, the groove is set.

I know it sounds tedious but after the process set forth if you want it flat, fluffy or any in between this pillow knows you’re noggin and neck. I had a bad prognosis about my neck problem, but my Psychical Therapist is positive that the pillow has sped up my recovery and I may not need surgery on my neck at all.

DON’T GIVE UP on this pillow let it conform to you and it will pay dividends. For me no surgery on my neck & my snoring well what snoring (Almost completely stopped).

I love this pillow it has changed my entire sleeping experience. I have tried almost every pillow out there from gel filled, memory foam, feather down, and whatever else to try to get a better night sleep.

Nothing has felt as comfortable and supported my head and neck like this pillow has. I no longer wake up with a stiff neck and headaches. Or wake up multiple times a night having to fluff or readjust my pillow.

I can fall asleep and sleep through the night and wake up rested and relaxed in the morning. When I received the pillow it came in a box rolled up in plastic. I took the pillow out of the plastic and watched in amazement how it instantly started to grow and expand.

I gave it a full 24 hours to expand before I gave it a try. I am a natural side sleeper so I was pleasantly surprised to see how well it supported my head and neck and wasn’t flat in the morning. There’s also no chemical smell or odors on this pillow even right out of the box.

I wish I would of tried one of these pillows sooner.

Sorry, but this thing smells horrible! It’s very disappointing because it is actually a comfortable pillow, but the smell is just too much. It even makes the room that it is in smell. I’ve let it air out for several days, and it still stinks.

I tried washing the cover, but it’s not the cover that stinks, its the pillow itself. It is also on the small side, so your arms can easily fall off the sides if they are not right up against your body.

I love watching TV in bed. but it’s tough to get comfortable with pillows because my body never feels like it’s at the right angle. This pillow solves that problem and more! You can use this pillow for tons of reasons and in different positions.

I also use this pillow when I have stomach cramps. I put the higher part of the wedge under my knees to help relax my stomach muscles. It’s a great wedge pillow!.

I used to have one of these wedge pillows a long time ago, but the angle was way to steep. When I saw this one and the measurements, I just had to get it!! And, boy I was right on too. it is very comfortable to my back and neck.

For taking it out the box, fluffing and putting on the cover to use it right away, that says alot. I had a wonderful night of sleep!!.

Just to be clear, I hate my CPAP. I absolutely hate the marks left on my face despite trying out all the fabric pads and other gadgets without any success. Obviously, I have no choice but to continue to use the CPAP if I want to be able to breathe while sleeping.

Fortunately, this pillow seems to have significantly reduced the amount of marks that I get on my face. I still get marks, but they are not as deep and long-lasting. This seems to indicate that the pillow is working, and I am happy with that.

This was an early gift for my son who has had his CPAP for about a year; his wife complained that as she shifted positions while sleeping, the mask would move and she could hear this constant hissing of air leaking around the mask.

Since I started using my CPAP pillow, I have no trouble sleeping on my side and wake up without pain from my arms. I highly recommend this pillow, in addition, it’s very comfortable.

The CPAP Max 2 pillow is very comfortable, very supportive, and ergonomically perfect for a side-sleeper wearing a nasal cushion mask. I have narrow shoulders so I tried combining/removing the various layers of foam this pillow comes with to choose my optimum height (memory foam and antibacterial foam, both with the curved sides up) with the white foam middle layer removed).

The directions say to allow a few days for the memory foam top layer to memorize your particular head pattern and I found this to be true. Easy to choose the height combination after night 3. Surprisingly, as I usually choose a cooling pillow, I love the cushioned side with the middle indentation.

Heavenly soft and not hot at all. The soft tether for the heated tube holds the tube perfectly; I no longer am awakened by a dragging or crushed tube. In fact, the Before/After photo on the box of the nasal cushion mask wearer looks exactly like me: Before, face and mask mushed into pillow, and After, perfectly balanced head, face, and neck.

I had high hopes for this pillow. I bought it over a year ago – And I used it for a full year before deciding it wasn’t designed properly nor worth the cost; and I found something better for less. The information I provide herein are adjustments made throughout the year that I tried this pillow.

The first issue I had was that the pillow lifted my head too much, causing a chin down position which contributes to air passage issues during sleep. I tried resolving this by removing one of the layers.

Although my chin and head were in a more appropriate position, I now had insufficient neck support. Eventually, I put all layers of the pillow back in, but I modified the top layer of foam so that my head would sink into the pillow further and I’d still have the full neck support I need.

This mostly worked. I then modified the next layer to improve my head position and I had it perfect for when I sleep on my back. Although the cutouts help to reduce dislodging my mask while sleeping on my side, the sides are not high enough to keep my head and neck straight, nor support my neck.

I tolerated this for a while, but often my face would start turning towards the mattress because there was no support on my cheek and chin due to the cutout design. The pillow showed potential, but is too expensive for its lack of proper support and deficiencies in design.

I am not a doctor and I am not qualified to diagnose or provide advice on sleep therapy, however I do not recommend this pillow for anyone with broad shoulders or high AHI obstructive apnea.

So this purchase was a spur of the moment add on as I was buying other items with my FSA before the time to use the money ran out. I really hadn’t done much research and wasn’t sure I would like it because i have been unhappy with other memory foam pillows, including a VERY expensive one my doctor recommended a couple of years ago that made me too hot.

Most pillows make me hot, including the ones that are supposed to keep you cool. I end up flipping them over several times a night. Well I received this pillow today when I came home from work and after looking at it, I felt it was really “calling my name” LOL.

So though I’m not one to take naps on a weekday, I decided to go ahead and break my new pillow in with a quick snooze. TEN HOURS LATER (lol!!!) I woke up feeling fantastic! I don’t know how I’m going to get back to sleep after sleeping so many hours but I wanted to write this review while I was still feeling good from the wonderful sleep session! A couple of notes, I used the side with the 3D mesh and ventilated memory foam and it actually kept me comfortable! I didn’t flip the pillow once.

Even when I nap on weekends I usually have to flip the pillow several times from over heating but not this time. Also I normally sleep with two pillows so I just took one off and let this be my second top pillow, it was the perfect height, in fact a better height than I normally sleep at.

So if you find the pillow too low on its own try putting it on top a second pillow. If you find the pillow to high on its own you can unzip it and pull out a layer or two. So either way this pillow can be adjusted.

If you sleep hot its worth trying this pillow. I use a resmed nasal pillow mask where the hose clip over your head so I didn’t need to use the hose tie on the pillow so cant comment on that. This pillow case is okay, just standard white light weight case.

I would like extra ones maybe I will get my seamstress friend to make me a couple of more. The pillow was a good find for me, glad I saw it before I checked out!.

As a person newly diagnosed with sleep apnea and struggling to adjust to treatment. , this CPAP pillow has been tremendously helpful! Its unique contours do not interfere with the equipment. As a side sleeper, it is wonderfully supportive of my neck.

The pillow was too thick for my use. It was also too hard. I thought I would try it because the shape looked interesting and might work because I use my down pillow and shove it into the same shape as this pillow.

But, I laid on this pillow for 2 seconds and knew it was too hard and thick for my head, neck, and shoulder. It would be good if it were made of different materials such as foam and was varying in thickness according to the customer measurements.

The support level of the pillow is such that it will hold the head in a natural position during sleep, so using the correct loft is important. I was very excited to get this pillow. It was a little expensive but sounded like it was worth the money. I received the pillow and tried it for 2 nights. I did not sleep well at all. The pillow is too tall and doesn’t have any softness.

If anything it closed my throat more because of the strange angles my head was at when using the pillow. The pillow would slide out from under me no matter what I tried. I’m very disappointed in this product.

I used a Tempur-Pedic (memory foam) pillow for many years and was quite happy with it. In addition to sleep apnea, I have neck/cervical pain and it provided excellent neck support. After 18 years, it lost its memory and I needed another pillow.

I was skeptical that this Contour CPAP Max pillow would provide good enough neck support, but it does. I like that I can adjust the height by removing of the sections on the inside. It was a little too high for me, but adjusting it made it pretty close to perfect.

I also like how the contour sections on the sides helps keep my CPAP hose out of the way. Frankly, the attached rope thing is not much use to me, so I removed it. All things considered, I really like this pillow.

Well designed,comfortable and works with my nasal pillow with hose attaching at top of head. The hose retainer works to keep hose out of the way when sleeping. The left and right cutouts work well as does the shoulder cradle.

Satisfied so far hope it holds up. I put a pillow case with case opening towards hose and no issues.

I wanted to love this pillow but was very disappointed! Caused more neck and back pain! Stiff and uncomfortable!

What a great pillow! So many ways to make it fit my needs. Sorry I waited so long to purchase this apnea pillow.

I am a stomach sleeper with a CPAP. This allows my head to face down and to the side so my neck isn’t so twisted. I alternate between a full face mask and nasal pillows and this pillow accommodates both very well.

I have not removed a layer, as it seems fine the way it is. The odor goes away after a day or two. I just let mine sit in front of a fan in another room for two days. I used to sleep on a tempurpedic pillow and that was way more expensive than this pillow.

Quality seems good, but I have only had it a few weeks.

My physician suggested that I try to find such a pillow to help me sleep more comfortably and with less leaks and other problems from my CPAP. We are so thankful for the assistance of the Bed, Bath & Beyond employee who ordered this for me.

In the short time that I have used my new pillow, I have had really good nights sleep and have felt better during the daytime. It would be helpful if the stores kept this item in stock. We have friends with sleep apnea who are reluctant to order something at the price of this item without actually seeing the item.

This pillow is not one that I would buy for sheer comfort but it does the job when it comes to keeping my CPAP mask in place. The spaces carved out at the sides provide room for the CPAP when I am sleeping on my side.

This is valuable to me because I found that regular pillows pushed the masks out of place and caused leaking. So this does work as intended. I do wish it was a bit more soft like a conventional pillow, however.

I decided to keep the pillow because it helps so much with CPAP leaks.

Surprisingly comfortable pillow! It was so soft, but still sturdy enough to support the curve of my neck. Now I don’t want to leave my pillow every morning! I also like how it has detachable supports for individual adjustments, though I wish it would come in a slightly longer size.

I’ve got neck and shoulder pain in my left hand side in these 2-3 years, and couldn’t find the cause. I’ve been searching different kind of cotton pillows for fixing the pain, but those didn’t work too.

After using this pillow, I am surprised that the pillow height is perfect to my neck and no more pain. Just one concern about the height pads, I am good to use the pillow without height pads, but that make the waste, and dunno what to do, kinda a eco problem.

I’ve been struggling with neck pain the last few months and ended up giving the Airfit and Responsefit a try. Given that the Airfit is more expensive, I expected it to be better. When I tried it in the store it was pretty comfortable, however when I brought it home, I didn’t see the benefits of spending so much on this pillow.

For starters, I couldn’t tell any difference in the firmness of the pillow regardless of letting the air out or not. I left the valve open one now and I still felt like the pillow was pushing my head forward too much causing my neck pain with previous pillows.

I will say, the cooling on the pillow is great and if you have a heavier head maybe you’ll notice a difference in the firmness, but I didn’t. I even tried squeezing all the air out and then closing the valve before letting go and even then I didn’t notice much.

Unless I’m doing something terribly wrong, I just don’t get the cost justification for this pillow tbh.

Ive suffered with head and neck pain for several years now and have gone through dozens of pillows, of all types (memory foam, feather, and all manners of natural and synthetics), in an attempt to alleviate it.

At times it would even be bad enough to trigger a migraine. Since getting this pillow (a couple months now), Ive had ZERO pain. That alone is enough for me to justify getting one. A couple minor gripes/observations though: This is a VERY firm pillow.

Be aware when you buy that it’s not a “laying on a cloud” type of pillow. It is, however, very supportive and does not ‘pack down’ overnight at all. Given my large, heavy noggin’ this is a godsend for me.

Though I’d prefer a bit softer, the support it gives is ideal for my situation so it’s a tradeoff I’m happy to make. It has a tendency to ‘reinflate’ during the day, even with the valve shut tight, so every night I have to reset it to my preferred level.

Not a big deal but it is mildly annoying. At full retail it seems to be a bit overpriced, in my opinion. However, with my ‘rewards’ I cashed in from buying a Sleep Number bed, it was a solid deal. I certainly don’t regret buying one as it did seem to solve my neck pain issues and that is worth just about any price! All-in-all I’m very happy with it.

I can finally sleep without waking to head and neck pain and it solved two of the biggest problems I’ve had with every other pillow I’ve tried. Namely, diminishing support through the night (packing down) and getting uncomfortably hot (memory foam) from my, seemingly, excessive heat radiation when I sleep.

I especially appreciate the adjustable nature of the pillow. I could just never seem to find that “perfect height” pillow, but this is definitely it.

When I purchased this pillow, I was looking for something that could help me with my neck pains. I have a degenerative disc in my neck and prefer more firm pillows. I sleep on my back and sides and knew I wanted a contour.

This pillow gives me everything and more. With the air chamber, I am Goldie Locks and this pillow is perfect comfort. You can always add or remove air depending on how your neck is as well as the position of your sleep bed.

One thing I learned with my sleep number: I prefer different firmness and the low or high side of the contour pillow depending on the elevation! Great flexibility with this pillow! Worth every $!.

While the pillow did exactly what it promised, I found it not very comfortable. Its thicker than I hoped for and the memory foam is too dense, too hard. Make me one that is softer and Ill be back.

Material is soft yet sturdy. Very good product. It’s one of the best memory foam pillows i have purchased.
