20 Best Neck Gaiter For Snowboarding (2023 Updated)

Yeah, this thing is reviewed so highly for a good reason. It fits snug, keeps my face and neck ridiculously warm, and doubles as a nice face mask to comply with Covid laws. I don’t ski or snowboard – I really only wear this thing when I’m outside at work and the freezing cold wind chills are blasting me – but I could well imagine that it would work like a charm if you were going to ski.

For my job it keeps me super warm and it’s super comfortable. You just have to snip off the tag that lies inside of it which is easy enough to do; otherwise it’ll scratch up your neck. It’s a little pricey, as some others have complained, but hey, you get what you pay for in this situation.

It’s great. If you can snag this on a sale or you’ve got a gift card, take the shot and grab this.

Ok, so, i live in southern west virginia, i bought the solitude set coat and bibs, and the furnace set tops and bottoms. So, my experience was ranging from 50 degrees and sunny, to 30 degrees and snowing with high wind, i only wore compression underneath as my base layer, nothing else.

The 50 degrees day was hot, and i was stripping down to my base layers through out my day, this set is super light weight, i spent my hunt on the side of a mountain in which i had to hike up and down, this is probably the best INVESTMENT iv ever made, i was skeptical at first, because spending that much money on hunting gear, You kinda have to justify it at times.

So i pulled the trigger on the sets. Im super happy with the money spent! I was in thick brush, briers and steep steep mountain coal county terrain. It suited me 110%. I have no thread picks from the briers, the zips on each side of the coat are amazing for when you start to sweat, and need to dump heat quickly to cool off, the front zipper pocket on the coat fit my iphone 12 pro maxx perfectly, with my hunting tags and picture ID.

I also bought the neck gaitor. This thing is hands down amazing, i thought when i pulled it out of the plastic, that it was thin, and wouldnt hold up in the cold, i wore it with my orange ball cap, and i was nice and toasty for my hunt.

Bottom line, if your a skeptic like i am. Don’t think twice about buying this set up, it holds up extremely well, i put it through the ringer this past week. The zippers are extremely well made, its soft, does not make noise by any means.

And you will get hot in this particular set up before you get cold. If you have doubts about your sizes as a first time buyer, it would benefit you to take a couple quick measurements for your body, give it to your support team member, and they will fit you to a T.

Solid. I have a slightly small neck and it’s a bit baggy on me. Could be cut smaller with slightly more stretch but I understand it’s a one size fits all situation. Used it for duck opener in North Park Colorado low 20s and worked good.

Tested it out 1st rifle in Colorado. Got down to high teens after an early snowstorm and it did fine. Worked great when I had my jacket zipped all the way up to keep the gaiter tight to me and not allow any heat to escape.

Nothing groundbreaking. Typical gaiter made out of tried and true first lite merino.

I like this neck gaiter quite a bit. The length is great & the material is comfortable. I use it for turkey hunting in the spring & deer hunting in the fall in southern Illinois. Also use it some for waterfowl hunting.

Main complaint is I wish they made it in a heavier material, like an extreme cold version. I know there is the Tundra Balaclava but I just want a heavyweight gaiter, not the whole balaclava. Love to use this in combo with the tag cuff beanie.

Maybe could work for spring season, but at that point you don’t even really need one. Cute product, but essentially its just a really thin piece of cotton that gets wet immediately and freezes if it’s snowing at all.

We’re old snowmobilers and rode for 3 decades before our bodies listened to our brains and said enough. After a decade of not riding, we purchased motorcycles and have never looked back. What fun! HOWEVER.

cold weather attire has evolved since our riding days and we’re in the process of updating. We’ve found the 21st century style clothing is lighter, less bulky and comfortable. And speaking of bulky – – our old neck gaiters about strangled us so we replaced them with the Condor 221106 Tactical Thermo Neck Gaiter Neckwarmer Mask Microfleece.

It’s lightweight, soft, comfortable and versatile. It can be used just to warm your neck or you can pull it up further on your face to cover your nose and/or cover your ears. Needless to say, we are impressed and very satisfied with our purchase.

We have bought two of these and love them! It fits our 8 year old daughter and my 75 year old mom. It is great for keeping warm while sledriding, at an outdoor sporting event, or at outdoor Christmas light displays.

It is typically used as a nose and mouth warmer but can be worn lower as a neck warmer. The elastic band sets this version apart from similar versions without elastic since it holds it tight to keep the cold out.

I use this neck warmer upside down! The opening at the top is too tight for my head and binds my nose. However, upside down it fits well and is comfortable and keeps my face and neck warm on the coldest of days.

People with smaller heads should be able to wear it comfortably in the normal position.

This Buff is excellent to use for moderate to windy days skiing–for me at Stevens Pass. If you are familiar with Buff products, it doesn’t work like the other ones as a straight tube, like the polar buff.

The first picture is not of a windproof buff but merely a polar or multifunctional buff. The windproof part is shorter (shown in pics 2 and 3 of the product post) and is made of a firm, almost neoprene like material that is arched to be slightly rounded and taller around the face, lower in back.

It can’t wrinkle or bunch up like shown in pic 1. The stretchy, buff material is doubled over in thickness (unique to this Buff), and for that reason, I believe you’re intended to wear the stretchy soft part of the buff underneath the firm windproof part, which works perfectly to protect your face from the cold and shield you from the wind without making it impossible to breathe, by sitting an inch or so away from your nose.

The stiff windproof part can’t hug your face and won’t keep you warm like the stretchy part. So, it’s imperative to double them over or there is too much stretchy BUFF to bunch up on your neck, which will feel suffocating.

(Described in the 1 star reviews. ) When I say doubling them over, you end up with both ends toward your nose, depending on how high you wear the stretchy part, with the connecting part lowest around your neck/chest,.

I have a medium size neck and head so when I do this, the stiff part sits about an inch away from my face and nose shielding the wind and catching the snow, with the stretchy part keeping my face warm and staying fairly dry at the same time.

The brilliance of the windproof material is when it freezes over or gets soaked, you can actually towel off this part fairly easily to dry it out–especially when it’s frozen and thaws out when you come in for break.

As a PNW skier, there are a lot of windy days. This item really is Windproof (but barely has stretch) and is the perfect addition to my ski kit to avoid wind burn on those days above 20mph winds. It’s worth the extra $$.

I’ve skied plenty of days with gusts 45-50mph and this buff has saved my face!.

Has worked well to keep warmer. Works decently well for low intensity activity. While it’ll keep you warm in most winter weather, you want want something warmer for less than -20°C (or if you run cold).

Like most neck warmers/balaclava’s that cover your mouth, it will get wet. I have the bluish one and the wetness creates dark spots that are quite noticeable. It does dry reasonably fast. It has not been very itchy.

I’ve only worn it a few times so I can’t vouch for durability, but no issues so far.

Like many, my introduction to the Buff goes back to May 2000 and the first episode of Survivor. Since that time I’ve worn them in warm and cold, wet and dry weather, mountains, deserts, and jungles. On dusty offroad expeditions, shooting ranges.

This gaiter is well-made and soft on the skin. It has the right amount of stretchiness to get over your head but then settles comfortably around my neck. it’s not super warm, but perfect for moderately cold days.

It is so warm and stretchy. I ordered a bunch more after the first wear! I wear mine over my head, under my helmet and it is stretchy enough to not feel tight and also thin enough to not be bulky.

Great neck warmer and wind breaker. Utilises the helly thermal properties from their other tops. I use it camping and even keep it on around the neck when i go to sleep. No complaints

I am a big fan of the thermatube as well as the dual layer tube. On cold days it’s warm, highly breathable and does very well. The down side is a bit of moisture freezing issues when I’m pushing 50-60mph in 0-15F temps.

Own many and big fan.

Just what I was looking for, something to knock off the chill of bike rides on cooler mornings. I didn’t need the warmth of a full on thermal lined gaiter, just something a little warmer than my single layer tube from BS.

The stretch is nice, and the inside is soft and plenty warm for my needs. Get you one!.

This has been a great double layer mask for those 25-35 degree days on the mountain! I find that this midweight mask keeps me just the right temperature on “spring-like-days” (and not fogging my goggles), especially in the mask required Covid protocol world.

We are wearing these this week skiing in very cold weather and they are warm & soft!

Bought this for my wife. It looked like a nice piece online, in person it’s really nice and warm.

The mask is decent, but the filters get really fuzzy after first week. I am on a train and have to wear one while dealing with riders. It also does still fog up my safety and sun glasses. I’d hope the price would make the straps more comfortable and durable, they are already looking so worn and I only had this mask for 2 months.

Excellent. Exactly what I wanted. Bought the s/m size so that it would be snug enough to stay in place if pulled up over my mouth and nose, which it does. And, on the other hand, when worn down around my neck, it is perfectly comfortable — not too loose and not too tight.

In a year like this, this is the perfect accessory to anyone who lives in cooler climates. I walk the dogs and then go the store without having to worry. The gaiter is thick as well and comfortable for my bigger sized neck.

I just got this neck gaiter in the mail – it is perfection. The fleece is substantial and the size is exactly what I wanted. The circumference of the gaiter is just right, it fits flush to my face and back of my head (no extra room for wind of snow to sneak in), and the length is equally excellent (long enough to come down just past my clavicle for that added comfort and warmth).

In other words, not one of those flimsy gaitors that have you wondering why they are in the adult section of the store. Honestly, the picture on the website doesn’t do this item justice – check out some of the google images to see for yourself (that’s what I did)! Thanks Patagonia, and maybe consider putting up some dimensions on the website to help potential customers make the right choice (yes, this is the gaiter you want).

It’s compact, soft, very warm, great at blocking the wind, and somehow they’ve nailed the fit. Just stretch enough. Not too loose; I can pull it over my mouth, or nose, or just my chin, and it STAYS! But it’s not too tight; there’s plenty of mobility and overall comfort of being warm without having a bulky scarf or loose fitting neck gaiter.

Highly recommend with any set up.

Patagonia quality as expected. Soft fleece feels great on my neck and face. I am looking forward to testing it with colder temperatures as winter sets in, however, the fleece is a nice weight so I expect it will well insulate from the cold.

Exactly what I was looking for, fleece neck warmer without the hood, and to find it in green was the cherry on top! Super great quality, the draw cord is perfect, covers my whole neck and doesn’t seem to slip down so far.

Can’t wait to try this out on the hills in a few months!.

Bought this as a Christmas present for my husband and he’s been wearing it everyday, he finds it so much more convenient than a scarf. It looks nice and the quality is as good as expected from The North Face.

Husband has found this neck warmer to be the best yet and we’ve tried heaps. It fits snug behind his jacket but not too tight or floppy. So far so good!

However, when resting around the neck, it feels a little too tight compared to other fleece neckwarmers. (My preference is for a somewhat loose neckwarmer that can stay up when needed. ) For a clothing item that I’ll be breathing into quite often, however, the antibacterial property of 100% merino does feel attractive.

I found the neck warmer incredibly comfortable and portable, as opposed to a traditional scarf. The material wasn’t abrasive to my skin nor did it leave any marks. I did find the stretch was a little limiting though, considering I tend to wear my hair big and/or high.

I understand it won’t function as well if it stretched more but it was somewhat challenging to put it on without compromising my hair style. I gave it a slightly lower rating as it won’t work alone in a northern Illinois winter, but it would suffice to run outside quickly or to grab a package.

It does serve as a nice bonus layer under a traditional scarf should the wind be particularly biting. I would recommend the item to people who have a particular need for it, but I’m having some difficulty seeing it as a must have.

I would like to try running with it in the spring or fall as it is entirely too cold for me to run outdoors right now but I could then evaluate it differently. I have washed the item and it held up well, I’d just need to wash it a few more times to really grade the durability.

I got this neck warmer for cold weather training. I have not been able to use it until recently, as it has been pretty warm where I live. This week though, the temperature dipped, and so I decided to break out this warmer to help lighten my clothing while maintaining warmth.

When training, I like to wear a minimal amount of clothing required to stay comfortable, and this definitely assisted with that goal. The warmer is, by design, a basic item, but that does not mean that it is inadequate.

It does a great job of using warm air from breathing to help transfer heat around your neck and to help warm the cold air. It is pretty snug, although I am a bigger guy, and it may not be so tight on others.

Overall, it does what it is intended to do, which is to help keep your neck and face warm when the temperatures drop.
