20 Best Ls Rocker Trunion Upgrade (2023 Updated)

This kit comes with a slick tool that makes rebuilding your rocker arms a breeze. It is only getting four stars because one trunion had a defective end and the bearing wouldn’t go on. Trying to get through to Comp Cams with my schedule was virtually impossible.

Thankfully an e-mail to Summit got me replacement parts at no charge to me. Great service from Summit as usual! Comp Cams may want to hire some help or have people available on the weekend.

I’ve used this kit on a few Ls Engines a 6. 2 Ls3 & 5. 3 LM7 and will continue to use it on other LS motors in the future, The first time I just used a couple of big sockets but the last time I got the kit with the install tool and It worked out better, took less time and the tool is very well made! Great product!!.

The larger piece has a magnetic base to hold pieces in place during pressing. The magnet is barely strong enough and leads to rocker arms and bearing pieces everywhere, and setting the same rocker up multiple times because you bumped the base while aligning the other half.

Tool functions very well, but a rare-earth magnet would make more sense; especially at the price point for this little chunk of metal. Overall, very pleased and would absolutely buy again.

The best part of this jig / tool is the way it centers and holds the rocker in a machined saddle. It is very easy to use and it speeds up the process of pressing in and out the trunions and bearings.

The magnetized base makes sure the tool does not fall or move around while you are positioning the rocker, either for trunion removal or installation. The 2 way machined press tool makes for quick centering of the new bearings, All over a very handy and worthwhile addition to any LS engine builder.

Used this tool to upgrade my LS rockers. High quality fit and finish, came with clear instructions. Worked flawlessly on disassembly of old trunnions and assembly of new. Magnet allows use of vise and it lines up every time for a smooth press of the bushing.

Well worth the price!.

These rockers are very high quality. Like jewelry for my small block. I would recommend these for a higher end build. Some speak on the price, I believe you get what you pay for. Summit is my exclusive go to place for high performance parts!!!.

i wanted to save a few bucks on rockers for my most recent build, there are several brands now of roller tip rockers most of which are of overseas origin. after seeing pictures of failed rocker arms and several reviews i decided to spring for the extra $60 and get a USA made set and not have to look back.

You just can’t skimp on these parts. Glad i chose them.

I was disappointed in the quality of these rockers. The first set I received had several rockers that were dirty/gritty and had small rust spots throughout. There were also several with casting flaws (rough casting) in the push rod holes, or in the fulcrum area.

I ended up ordering a replacement set and found similar issues. In addition, the packaging was poor, allowing the rockers to move around the inside of the box. In the end, I managed to get one good set out of the two and returned a set.

Summit, as usual had excellent customer service and quick shipping.

Ordered the rockers. When they showed up, it was obvious that they had been installed, but not put into service. As soon as I saw the box, I knew something was not right. They had black magic marker lines on them, were rather grimey with flecks of red RTV floating around in the box.

In my mind used parts, prolly OK to use, but in my mind used is worth 1/2 of new in value. Called Summit and was assured that a new would be shipped overnight in an exchange. Summit came through. Great customer service!.

Purchased to replace stock rockers in 1965 Ford 289. According to Summit, it would fit my vehicle/engine. It even makes a side reference: “Application Notes:Designed for use with non-rail rocker arms”, which is what I have.

Installed and all rocker arms immediately came off the tops of the valves. It is now obvious to me that they are designed for rocker arms with rails (the opposite of the description). SUMMIT, PLEASE MAKE THIS CHANGE IN THE DESCRIPTION!!.

I used these with edlebrock e streets heads on a 351 windsor. I went with this style in order to use the low profile valve covers, this is a boat motor, and the exhaust risers limited the height of valve cover I could use.

They installed fine, no issues. The boat runs great witht the new top end. I was able to use the original indmar mastercraft valve covers, but I had to remove the shrouds. I’m using a brillow pad type material below the pcv valve to help prevent oil being sucked up into the intake.

Everybody and their mother makes cams and rocker arms now. But they are not all equal. Comp Cams has been making quality products for years, and these are no exception. For the money these are some of the best rocker arms to get for a ford small block.

These Chrome molly steel arms will not bend or deflect like other stamped units. There is plenty of room in the slot for use with large cams. Great upgrade over stock units without blowing your budget.

Cheap aluminum rocker arms may break at any time possibly leaving you stuck or worse causing engine damage. When you buy a quality product like Comp Cams you can forget all about that. They wont let you down.

I have used these full roller rockers on several cars when I wanted to maximize results from a basic hop-up of an old motor. Comp makes even stronger models if you are going all out, but these are great for my typical high-lift, short-duration street engine goals.

If I see even one shiny factory rocker, out they go with these in their place – new pushrods too. I like the Comp K-Kits to start with. Break in with the old (weak) springs, if possible without binding, then replace the springs and put these on as well.

These reduce some of the frictional losses in the valvetrain and they help to get the most efficient power transfer out of my flat-tappet cams. Obviously, if you use a retrofit or OEM roller cam, you would already likely have parts like these.

I have a normal SBC 350 with AFR heads. I put ARP Head studs on and these rocker arms hit the head studs. I checked the value train geometry and it all setup right

Comp Cams are the brand I use on my machines, and these particular High Energy Roller Rockers are the best bang for the buck for street/track performance I use this particular car for; a 383 stroker ‘Vette, mild roller cam, aluminum heads, manifold, headers, worked auto & 3:73 gears.

Worked great for such a simple idea. Only minor complaint was the magnet could have been stronger but with some care, it would stay in the vise. Be sure to grease up the vise screw as it takes some muscle to press out the old bearings.

The kit and materials look to be high quality. Installation instructions are clear and simple – I was able to use a bench vise with very little effort as the included washers help keep things aligned during installation.

On the last rocker I ran into a snag. the kit is missing a snap ring preventing me from finishing the installation. Kind of a bummer.

Better than having to use sockets. Magnet made super easy for ease of guiding trunion flawlessly! Must have for trunion upgrades!! And I did all 16 with a C clamp in under 30 mins!

Took the guessing out of using sockets to press the bushing I used. Great design and easy to use. I feel that the magnet could have been stronger to make it secure to my vise better

I really wanted to use the original Comp Pro Magnum rockers on my AFR 210 heads with the 1. 550 diameter springs (for a solid roller cam with high open spring pressures), but they touch the retainers when valve is at seat.

These Ultra Pro XD rockers have enough clearance to use the 1. 550 diameter spring! These are a 1. 50 ratio instead of 1. 52, but we are taking minimal difference. They clear and they work great!.

These rockers are rated at 850 lbs. N they feel like that would be no problem for them just by how heavy they are. Can’t wait to use them.

Bought my TFS heads in late ‘90’s & ran them for 20 years with stamped ball-style roller tipped rockers that kind of fit, but aligned poorly. I built a new motor, rebuilt the heads & knew that these rockers are a must for the Gen 1 heads.

They fit and work perfectly.

These Gold Comp rockers are very well made. I have used their lower grade aluminium rockers that are still running strong with no issues. I expect these to perform even better.

It’s too bad they have to be hidden. They are topping off a Hydraulic Roller cam on a 496. Every thing went as planned so hey, I can’t say any thing bad about them. The real test will come when they are rolling down the highway.

I’d recommend them.

Great rockers! I’m building a door car drag racer and I have gotten parts from many others during my ground up build. I’ve only called a few times about my orders and such. From phones to shipping to price, Jegs has been awesome.

Improvement over stock. Only has 8 per pack. You’ll need 2 packs to complete both valves on 8 cylinders.

I spotted these rockers and they were just what I was looking for I was short on 8 1.5 ordered them they arrived on time and they were installed the next day thank you

These are ok, but appear identical to Prw, but twice the cost?

When I got my initial order as soon as I picked the box up I could hear parts loose just rolling around. They had bent the box the kit came in and it had spilled everything out. Needless to say all the bushings were gouged beyond use.

Did a return and they resent it to me in a bigger box but the kit still came with some pieces loose rolling around. I salvaged enough good pieces out of the two kits before I sent back the first one.

So it’s not the product I’m giving the bad review but the lack of care to ensure the parts came undamaged twice.

Very good quality they adjust very easily and seem to hold up well

This was the third set of rockers I have done, but it’s been a few years since I last did it. In that time, one piece of the tool went missing, so I got this replacement set to get this latest job done.

After refamiliarizing myself with the process, I was disassembling, cleaning, and reassembling a rocker in less than 10 minutes. It’s an awesome tool. Yes, it still takes some time, but it’ll be much quicker and less likely to result in damage with this high quality tool.

Well worth the price. I also got a new bench vise this time as well. Much easier to do when the vise isn’t sloppy like my old one was.

Ordered rocker arm and rocker arm screw in studs to replace the non adjustable ones on my Ford 351 Windsor motor. At. This point I have been reluctant to make the changeover. Called Comp Cams tech department for my concerns about this changeover.

Unfortunately I never heard back from them. This isn’t the first time I’ve tried to contact them to no avail. Based on my experiences I would not recomend their products.

Had one rocker arm snap within 50 miles of engine install as well as 2 others beginning to crack, all rockers were adjusted properly and checked, never had this happen with any other rockers before.

Overall those roller tip rocker arms are very good. They feel very solid and when adjusted proberly, they are very quite! But one minor downside: The oil hole on the rockers is in my opinion misplaced.

Oil did shoot up into my pcv valve (baffled!) and I was burning ALOT oil. Now my pcv is disconnected from the manifold until I find a solution.
