20 Best Long Hair Dog Clippers (2023 Updated)

At first these trimmers were doing well. As owner of 4 doggies we have had 2 other clipper sets and this unit has not owned up to expectations. During normal trimming of an already brushed and combed dog, there is a problem w dog hair getting in the guards and jamming the clipping blade.

I have to continually clear this debris and then they clip well for another 3 or 4min then clear it all over again. What used to take 10 min now takes 20 or 30 min. Not heavy duty at all. Charge lasts long enough but keeps jamming and doesn’t clip.

Tried all blade settings and none work better than other setting. Want money back.

Like it’s been said, jams and clogs so easily. I have to constantly stop and brush out the hairs from the trimmer/blade. First time was good but even after cleaning and oiling it constantly jams up with hair.

Noise level is good and the cordless idea is good. I’ve tried all the comb attachments and they all jam. My dog has medium length hair and I try to maintain a puppy cut or shorter during the summer months.

What a disappointment.

I have 2 dogs they are part elk hound part beagle. I have been fighting their shedding for quite awhile. I would vacuum 3 times a day and even if I bought the 3 month air conditioner filters I would have to change them in a month.

I was skeptical that these would work. especially for the 25. 00 I paid for them but MAN was I surprised. They didn’t bog down or clog up. They never lost power. I love the fact that they are cordless and rechargeable but you can also use them plugged in.

All in all I have had clippers way more expensive that couldn’t hold a candle to these clippers. Save your money. Oneisall does exactly what they say they will do. **BTW the picture I added is the hair off my female who I shaved first.

I got just as much off her brother and I shaved them both with no break in between.

I used these clippers for the first time yesterday on my 70 pound doodle. I was so excited about these when they were delivered and knew I had to try them out asap. While grooming my dog, I struggled using these clippers.

They kept getting caught in his fur, made his groom look very choppy and uneven. They were already hot right off the bat of using them (were supposed to stay cool per description on the box. ) and extremely heavy.

They are awkward to use due to the weight of the clippers and the on off switch is very hard to slide to on and off. Overall, I am very disappointed in these clippers. I did a lot of research and spent money on these because I read how durable they are and how they are great for a poodle/doodle with thick curly fur.

The box said heavy duty and they just did not do their part. I had to switch to a different pair of clippers I bought specifically for the paws, belly, and face, to groom my doodle. I have had Andis clippers before and they did pretty well on my dogs.

I bought these to replace the other ones because they are old and not working well anymore. Sadly, I do not recommend these clippers. Maybe mine were a defected set.

The clippers work well, not as noisy as the cheaper Andis clippers, which I used to use, and do not vibrate in your hand. They do get hot though, even with the ceramic blade, which is disappointing, as I thought they are described as remaining cooler than the normal blade.

Also the blade provided is a 10f, whereas it would be more useful to come with a 7f as the 10f is a very short cut and I only use this on our Cocker Spaniels ears and belly. Strangely the cheaper set come with a useful case to keep the clippers in, unlike these much more expensive ones.

This is my second set of these, the previous set lasting 3 years until I dropped them. Disappointed about the ceramic blade getting hot, too early to say if they remain sharper longer. Overall a decent clipper though.

Took out of package. Honestly had a used look to it, didn’t have any hair but package was roughly placed together and lightly dusty inside. Bought as I was hopefully to replace having to go to groomers so often and figured this would pay off in the end.

Well it did great for a quarter of my dog and then stopped going through hair. I cleaned them. I tried everything. Dull after a quarter shave. Now I have to go get my partially shaved dog to the groomer spending triple the amount of money on this product and it didn’t do the job.

Disappointed. I think I got a faulty returned product honestly. So can’t really say if it would be different for other buyers but I’m not happy.

I guess I’m having a hard time finding clippers that you can use on the whole body that aren’t 100s of dollars. These were slowing down dramatically in 15 minutes, sounded like they are dying. Meanwhile my 12-year-old clippers can still manage to get the job done.

These probably work fine for trims and touchups (but not full body shaving a 50lb Standard Poodle). I liked that my other andis blades worked on this clipper so that’s why 3 stars. But I am still returning.

Just bought these today. They started off great on my golden doodle. After about 15 minutes they slowed down a bit. I took the blade off and cleaned it and put some oil on it. Didn’t help. 10 minutes later and they shut off altogether.

I left them unplugged for about an hour and turned them back on. Ran for a minute and died. Returning tomorrow.

I am very happy with my new pet clipper. It is very quiet which my pup appreciates. But the best thing about it is that I can get replacement ceramic blades for it, which I could not do with my Andis Versa clipper.

I especially appreciate the customer service person who spent the extra time with me in picking a clipper with replacement blades available through Chewy.

I did not receive the 12 pieces as pictured, I only received 8 pieces. the clipper was not very quiet when cutting. The blade head cutters are too close together making it hard to cut the hair.

Im stunned by the performance and quality of this shaver. It cuts through my cats hair like butter. Im tryna get fleas off our cats. This helps see them better and clean the cats much more efficiently.

The product is a great product for what you pay. But it is NOT QUIET! Maybe it is, but I am not sure what product it is compared to to say that it is “quiet” or what noise level is considered quiet on a razor.

I’m not a professional groomer, but have groomed my cats & dogs for decades. This is my second Andis Clipper in 30 years. My old one is still working & the only reason I purchased a new one is that I accidentally damaged the outer casing.

I decided on the detachable blade version to eliminate needing a screwdriver to change blades. This model did not disappoint! It is so easy to change the blades now. It’s the same Andis quality that I’ve always known.

* if the lever/hinge that you slide the blade on ever gets stuck in the down position, (it did once initially), there’s a very short & easy YouTube tutorial on how to release it. You need to know that it’s not a glitch because if/when you change out the lever/hinge, the new one can be already stuck in the down position.

It took literally a few seconds to disengage it & it was/is good to go.

This is my first pair of clippers and the first time I’ve ever used clippers. I have 8 Komondor X Great Pyrenees dogs. Their coats require a LOT of care. Several of them had gotten completely out of control until their coats were basically one huge mat.

I did a lot of research and asked a lot of other people with more experience what clippers they have used before deciding to buy this Andis clipper. I am so glad I did! Having had a chance to use it some now, I can say I like how quiet the clippers run.

I like the power they have. I like how easy it is to change blades. And my dogs absolutely love them. I was worried that my huge dogs would fight me as they had never been groomed with clippers before.

I needn’t have worried. They relax right into it and seem to feel they are getting a gentle, vibrating massage even when I’m cutting through thick, dense mats. These clippers are far easier to use than I expected.

I do most of the grooming of our goldendoodles myself and after buying 2 other clippers that were not great, I decided to research and this clipper is what came up the most often for its power and ability to get through curly thick coats.

It’s literally like cutting butter!! It’s perfect for our needs. It comes with a #10 blade which is shorter than I want so I purchased a #4 and #7 finish cut and couldn’t be happier. It even goes through mats like it’s nothing.

And our dogs aren’t scared of it either. Very very pleased!.

These clippers are not bad for quick trims. But they get hot too fast. Now I have to find something else that doesn’t overheat after 10 minutes.

Good product. Holds a charge for a really long time and has a lot of accessories. Didnt give it a 5 because the scissors that came with it wasnt good; not scarp enough to cut the dogs hair.

I work in the veterinary field, and have for 10 years. EVERY clinic I have worked in has used this brand of clippers, and the clinic I currently work at has two of these specifically. They are used for a multitude of things; shaving areas with wounds, pre-op prep, catheter prep, grooming- they do it all, but furthermore, DO IT WELL.

I’ve been at my current clinic for 2 years and these clippers were there before my time, but in my two years, we have never had to replace them. We have replaced blades, but strictly from them being dropped and damaged.

I’m really shocked by the negative reviews as they really are wonderful, durable clippers. I don’t think it’s coincidence that the 5 clinics I’ve worked at have all used them either. My bottom line point I suppose, is not to be discouraged from purchasing this brand due to reviews on Chewy.

I have never in all my professional experience heard anything negative about Oster clippers. Everybody has highly recommended them, and the only reason I stumbled upon these reviews is because I finally decided to purchase one for personal use.

I have a miniature poodle/Pomeranian mix with a distrustful temperament and habit of biting anybody but me; she was horrifically neglected and luckily surrendered to our clinic just in time to save her.

I don’t feel comfortable bringing her to a groomer as I don’t want anybody to get hurt, so I’ve had to learn the art of grooming at home. The cheap off brand pair I bought initially do the trick, but I need something better.

Working with these everyday for 2 years, I know they get the job done WELL.

Don’t know if Chewy got stuck with some bad clippers but the first pair I had issues immediately with the blade release. They sent me another pair. Went to use them and motor is loud and sounds like it loose in the body.

Chewy states they won’t replace because the original pair is just over ago. Replacement 2 months ago. 140. 00 dollars out the window. I have owned oysters for years and the first time this has happened.

Disappointed in chewy. I understand their point but I’m a good customer.

It’s worth buying 2 & switching them out as they get hot when doing a large animal like my 90 lb dog. They get hot & it’s uncomfortable against the dog’s skin. The clippers have never “over heated” on me or stopped working, but the dogs tolerate it best when it’s not hot to the touch.

I keep my air compressor going & blow the clippers out, spray it quickly with the cooling/lubricant spray & switch to the next pair…. back & forth. Works beautifully. Also great for doing my husband & sons hair- just keep the blades oiled & sharpened.

We’ve had one clipper for 15 years now, finally resigned to buying the second one as we are clipping our dogs a lot more often these days & it’s much more efficient with two clippers to alternate instead of waiting for the one to cool down.

I had a Wahl Arco that broke after it dropped. I decided to order this as a replacement after doing a lot of research. The quality of the Bravura does not seem to match that of the Arco (which was a cheaper price).

I had to dig around in the case to finally find the oil and brush (which I thought was missing). The brush is pretty substandard. Additionally, the clipper had little hairs on it, and the blade and plastic had nicks.

I would say the construction of the plastic is also substandard and not what you would expect for a clipper that is almost $200. I had an $80 Andis I bought years ago that I would rate higher. Not sure why this brand are so hot in the grooming market.

I got these about 6 months ago when our standard poodle was about 6 months old. After doing research these seemed like the best, and it was time to splurge on good clippers. Fast forward to now- They literally just don’t cut it.

Even with careful maintenance, the blade barely cuts hair, pulls the hair, and can’t be taken apart to properly clean or sharpen. It worked well for 2 puppy cuts, and by 4 it was just causing more annoyance for me and my dog.

Had my groomer friend take a look and she was very unimpressed. The battery seems fine, but the clippers are now worthless. I could try a new blade, or I’ll just get a better set up with multiple blades and the ability to FULLY clean and sharpen.

Used on cat. Started by setting clippers on floor and letting them run so cat got more used to noise. Did this several days. Then trimmed a little. Took three days to do back and sides (all I dare do) the first time.

He was not so much scared of noise by then, but did not like vibration when touched. He got more used to it all as he was trimmed more and I did most of sides and back in one attempt the second time I trimmed him.

Fur looked like child had taken scissors to it when I used the guide comb attachments, so finally used without those and looked smoother. I have a second cat I would not dare trim with these as he is very noise averse.

Both are long-haired.

I got these for my boyfriend for Father’s Day love, the dog. The dog is a handsome 3-year old thick coated labradoodle. We had to buy some attachment combs to go with this, but on his most thick hair sections it was not as good as I researched and we were on the verge of returning them because it was like it was not even cutting his hair, but then my boyfriend realized their was a high speed as well! (I thought he knew!) That made a big difference, but still a struggle on the rump region.

This dog has some very thick and coarse hair and was long over-due for a trim, so we decided to keep them because they will work good enough if we keep up with his hair cuts.

Bought these for grooming our standard poodle, labradoodle, and goldendoodle. I’ve been grooming my own pups for over 30 years. I actually thought I was doing something wrong then my husband tried cutting his arm hair and he couldn’t even get them to cut through fine human hair.

Maybe these were defective, but ended up going with a completely different brand.

Purchased this for my Cockapoo! She looks like a baby gorilla. 2 other clippers couldn’t get through her curly hair. These did!!! I should have invested in these in the first place! Also, very quiet which was nice for our skittish dog.

I absolutely love this! If you buy quality, such as this Wahl Quiet Electric Clippers, it pays off. (We had a battery operated clipper that wore out in 2 months. ) I have used this clipper twice since receiving it.

The results are so nice. A quality purchase as this Wahl clipper pays off for all parts can be replaced by Wahl which is a rare surprise.

It’s a good razor but it was too loud. I wasn’t able to finish grooming my dog because she was scared the whole time with how loud it was.

We purchased the corded version of these clippers, with a bit of apprehension about how they would work, as well as our own grooming abilities. We were pleasantly surprised at how easy they were to use and that they handled very well.

They easily and cleanly cut through the thicker coat of our pet. First time using the clippers, but we can see where, with not much more practice, we can perfect the cuts and save a lot on professional grooming (while still achieving a nice cut)! It did help to watch YouTube videos to see how grooming was done by professionals, plus we’re fortunate to have a cooperative pet.

Would definitely recommend these clippers.

I bought this clipper about 4 years ago for my shih tzu mix. He still had puppy hair so it worked okay. It did leave the hair very choppy though. After my pup grew and shed his puppy hair, the clippers didn’t even want to go through his thick hair.

I guess the blades aren’t sharp enough or the clippers dont clip fast enough. It also overheats!! Dont waste your money. I bought a wahl 5 style groom instead. It’s so much better. It doesn’t leave his fur choppy, and it works on my new wavy/curly haired dogs too!.

We just bought this a few days ago. We had to trim down our sheepadoodle, who is a pretty big guy. Unfortunately, not even a quarter way, these clipper started to heat up and got so hot that I could not hold it correctly.

We had to take multiple breaks to let it cool down enough to continue. My dog loves to be trimmed and would have loved it even more if we did not have to take so many breaks and start all over again.

Bless his heart he was patient with us. If this product didn’t heat up so much or at all, it would be a good product.

Very Happy With My Purchase! It is not the unit if you have a thick-haired dog but it works well for trimming my Maltipoo! First time I used it was so quiet my dog actually laid down on the table I had him on! Cordless is also and seems to charge fast! Very good accessories! I don’t think the ceramic blades can be replaced but for what you pay for it, it can be thrown away and purchase a new one! I would highly recommend it for smaller dogs and cats!.

Spent a lot of time reviewing dog clippers and watching YouTube videos of professional groomers. They obviously have more equipment in their arsenal. I am a diy person and need to start somewhere. These clippers are highly recommended by many.

I received the clippers and Andis combs today (purchased separately from Chewy). The clippers have some weight and just feel like quality in your hands. I only plugged it in and cycled through the speeds.

Wow, these are amazing and well worth the money. They are super quiet and don’t stress my dog out. My 18 month old Miniature Schnauzer was hating going to the groomers so much, I decided I’d splash out on these to see if he would tolerate me trimming him instead, and he does.

They will soon pay for themselves in money saved on grooming fees. The changeable length is really useful, and being cordless makes the job so much easier. I used to own £25 Wahl corded trimmers that were noisy and awkward to use.

This is the best mini clipper on the market. It is easy to hold and shaves small faces and feet with ease. It is very quiet and does not get warm. The blade speed does not change throughout the shave and battery life is long.

100x better than any palm clipper that uses regular batteries. Replacement blades are available, however with good care and maintenance they will last a very long time. The BravMini along with the Bravura clipper create a wonderfully groomed dog.

This set has absolutely everything necessary for first-rate grooming and is well made with the same quality appearance as a professional set. It is easy to use and change the attachments as needed and isn’t nearly as noisy as the set I had previously used (which scared my cats every time).

Perfect for quick trimming & grooming! Love that this comes with so many different attachments. I use for light grooming/trims – super convenient & easy to use. Very impressed with the quality of these trimmers!.

I shaved him in less then an hour (completely unheard of!!!) and it did all the work basically!!! The vaccum sucks the hair towards the clippers so you get a better cut. It’s the only clippers that literally just glided through his fur with absolutely no problem or drag! It never cut him either! There is definitely a learning curve with it because if you use it without the guards, the vacuum will pull his skin towards the clippers and you’ll get an uneven cut BUT it will not nick the skin.

like no matter what I did he was fine. It might look a little patchy where his skin got shaved really close but nothing else. It also sucked his dander into it!!! Whenever I shave him he always has thick dander on his back but the shaver actually just sucked it all up into it!!! We bathe him afterwards anyway but holy cow that was quick, easy, and did a better cut then literally ALL THE OTHER TRIMMERS!!! Like I think we’ve probably bought 10 other shavers.

This grooming vacuum is absolutely amazing! We’ve never had one before, and with our dog shedding like crazy in the summer season, this is a life saver. It’s not too loud which is great, and he was quite scared of it at first, but with some targeted treat training, we got him comfortable enough to use the de-shedding comb on him, and holy smokes, it picked up a crazy amount of hair.

Great vacuum with tons of suction power. It came well packaged, and with a lot of accessories. The main attraction, which we didn’t realize it had, is the clippers!.

This is an excellent grooming tool. It has strong suction, and when using the clippers attachment makes for a completely mess free shave of my dog. Same goes for the two brushes – hair is sucked into the vacuum and does not get all over the place.

The vacuum is not overly loud, but loud enough that it provides a nice distraction for my dog and makes grooming a little easier.

My clippers do not do the job I thought they were going to! Just doesn’t get thru the hair easily and to even get a good cut you have to turn them all the way up and then they get so so hot in a very small amount of time.

This makes my grooming process twice as long because you have to keep letting them cool down so you don’t burn your dog😐 very very disappointed I’m returning my clippers.

I have 4 standard poodles and every clippers has failed me with in a few uses, i do need to change blades often but this clippers so far has more power, but it to started lagging on me in the final dog.

I use the blade cool but the last dog it was just getting hot fast, so could just be blade, i can not find one that is good let alone great. i did need to do a final go over with a cordless clipper to make even.

The hair was long but not bad so i am a little disappointed, however i hope this one last longer then a few months for the price.

Even though my Double K clipper was used when I bought it, it still worked like a champ! Blades also work much better and longer. It does get hit so buy some cooling spray to go with it. I have used it on Persian cats, a standard poodle, and other long haired breeds.

This is a professional level clipper. I have been through many other clippers and nothing compares to this.

I have 2 dogs that are terrier mixes. They have wiry hair. Boy can it become a mess!! I was so excited to use the Oster Super Duty Clipper on them. They instruction video was very easy to understand.

Once I turned the clippers on, I was surprised on how quiet they were. The clipper was very comfortable to hold and use. The tops of both my dogs heads were slightly matted and the blade went right through all the matts.

I did buy the Oster Cool Lube in case the blade over heated. Which it did, but with the cool lube I was able to continue until their cuts were complete. The Oster Super Duty Advanced Clipper really is a good sturdy clipper to use.

Clean up was very easy once I was done with the haircuts.

I needed a grooming set that wouldn’t tug on my dog’s heavy coat. I’ve tried many brands that have roughed and troubles with hair getting caught and hunched in the guards along the sides. Even when I’d do small strips, it has always been an issue.

I’m glad to say that these Oster clippers have solved that problem and my dog hasn’t experienced any discomfort during grooming! The guards stay flush to the clipper so there’s no bunching of hair along the sides.

No constant removing the guards and cleaning it out during grooming. No tugging even over matted areas or problem areas. I love these and my dog does also!.

I love my Oster Super Duty Advanced Clippers! I have a Pomeranian that has very long hair and she gets very hot in the summer time. I placed a guard on the clippers and was amazed at how gently it slid down her back and gently removed all of the hair in its path.

It was very easy to groom her with these clippers. It is also very easy to clean. When i was done I used the oil and brush that were included and cleaned the clippers up like they were brand new. The clipper set came with several guards so I can choose how much hair I want to remove from my Pomeranian.

I had been searching for this clipper for awhile on all platforms. There was not a KM 10 anywhere. Then out of the blue Chewy had one so I rushed to buy it. Unfortunately the clipper I was sent was obviously a return and was not working.

I was very disappointed as I have been purchasing all my pet needs for 7 years and I haven’t been disappointed with the service they provide. I called customer service and told them of my experience.

They told me to send it back and they would send a new one immediately. The new clipper came in 2 days. I opened it immediately to check the new clipper out and to make sure the blade release was functioning.

It was perfect! I did notice that the original clipper I was sent was an older model. The new model is slightly different in its detailing. Anyway, I used it today on my cockapoo and it worked like a dream making the grooming experience a pleasure for me and my dog.

I have 5 Schnauzers and have been grooming my own dogs for many years. I had a WAHL years ago and was disappointed, and since then only ANDIS, (many) including professional and rechargeable. Unfortunately, I have been really disappointed with ANDIS quality over past few years.

So I decided to try WAHL again. I read lots of reviews all over the internet, and these seemed a good pick. I did not expect these clippers to be so incredibly lightweight AND quiet, and they stay remarkably cool, probably owing to being brushless.

And the cut is far superior to other clippers I’ve owned. I bought a second! Very happy. Dogs happier too.
