20 Best Locks For Moving Trucks (2023 Updated)

I take this thing everywhere when I ride my scooter around. It’s a must need. It’s big and fits my scooter just fine. Comes with 3 keys, nice to have 2 backup in case you ever lose one. Fits perfectly on my backpack and overall works great!.

We found multiple issues with the lock and warranty. The first was not being able to use the same number more than once in the code. You only find this out once the packaging is opened and the instructions inside are read.

Apparently it’s for an extra layer of security but this is a non-issue if the combination is regularly changed when used for a short term rental for example. Second, the reset arm in this model is flush with the inside body of the lock and is difficult to engage.

Older dial models have a tab that is easier to move when resetting the code. Third, that reset arm jammed. Fourth, you had to “clear” the locking mechanism, re-enter the code and press the top button to close the lock.

It was a convoluted process for simply closing a lock. And now the return policy. We returned the lock after 3 days (it was only used once) but had bought a different version, from the same store, in the interim.

In spite of the correct receipt being displayed on their monitor, the warranty showed 0 days left. We could only get an in store credit because the packaging was opened and the lock was irreparable. The reasoning behind that logic escapes us.

We were disappointed with Canadian Tire’s return policy in this case. Normally they are quite good. We wound up getting one with the dials – much simpler and it works. We would not recommend the push button lock.

We used this lockbox for years until recently when we were unable to open one with the combo we had on file. It was a mystery to us, indeed. We were about to cut it off the fence, when I had an idea to google ways to open this lock box if you forgot the combo.

My search IMMEDIATELY returned several YouTube videos on how to pick this lock. All you need is a thin piece of metal. (It’s pictured at the bottom of the photo attached to this review. ) Just for fun, I tried.

People. I AM A SECRETARY with no experience picking locks. I was able to pick both of our MasterLock lockboxes in under 3 minutes. And both combinations did not match what we had on file. I think they had already been picked and the combos changed, as the working numbers did not follow our standard combo formula.

This is the third unit I have installed. All are mounted outdoors, but in protected locations on verandahs, or under eaves. The oldest was installed over four years ago, and is still in perfect condition.

CAUTION: The packaging has a sealed section across the top, accessible from behind, under the stick-on label. It contains instructions, four mounting screws, and a key hook, which fits into a slot inside the unit, to hook the key(s) onto.

Don’t throw out the packaging without retrieving these items! With twelve buttons, there is a large number of possible combinations to choose from. Each button represents a number and a few letters, plus # and *, like an old push button mobile phone.

You can set a code using any combination of buttons, between one button, and all twelve. I use five-button codes. Because the keypad is mechanical, each button can only be used once in a code, and the buttons can be pressed in any order.

It’s easy to use in low light if you remember the pattern of buttons in the code. No need to read small numbers or letters, or fiddle with combination wheels. The code has to be used to open the box, and again to close it.

This safety measure makes sure that you know the code works before you close the box, which is very handy if you change the code from time to time, say in a short-stay accommodation business. You can’t lock the box by accident without using the correct code.

In summary, this product is well-designed, works well, and is almost foolproof.

Sturdy locks – good value. We like the convenience of one key for multiple locks. Compared with standard padlocks, these have performed much better year-round. Note that though the lock cylinder cover makes cold weather seizing less frequent, it does not eliminate freezing & seizing altogether.

Would we buy again?. we have!.

These locks are far from water proof or resistant. I used them on my snowmobile trailer and first snow fall they froze solid. I had bought same ones a couple years ago and they worked perfect till someone lost the keys and we had to cut them.

I purchased this product but was unable to use it because the shackle was too large to fit through the gate latch I purchased on the same visit. The package was also very difficult to open.

This security lock was placed on a storage container sitting in my driveway from the last week of January 2021 right up to the first week of March. The weather covered seal on this lock allowed me easy access to the storage container throughout the month of February even though we experienced a major snowstorm along with 2 episodes of freezing rain.

The lock is well made and extremely heavy duty. I never worried about the contents of my home being stored in the container sitting in my driveway for 6 weeks because of the quality & durability of the lock!.

good quality medium strength lock. purchased for my shed, does the trick! the bottom hole cover comes off quite easily, but it really is not doing much anyways.. would buy again.

the first freezing rain storm we had, the lock opening was frozen over with ice. The key would not go in the opening. I leave the black plastic flap open now all the time

Definitely seems like a sturdy lock but I am having a lot of trouble changing the combination from what it is originally set at. I don’t know if it is just me? User error! But my husband even said he had the same issue.

And then when we were able to get one of them to change and lock using a new passcode, it did not use the passcode we had chosen and then old one no longer works now so we are stuck with a lock that we’re using as a family game to try to unlock! I guess the “moral” of my ramble is be careful resetting the passcode if you purchase this product.

But please do not allow my review to stray you from this lock. It is well made and very sturdy. Maybe we just got a bad batch? God Blass!!.

No more plain silver locks! And the Master Lock brand has been around forever and is extremely reliable. The colors available on this lock just make it extra fun and it is easy to operate. My middle school granddaughter’s first lock and figuring it out was a snap! I would highly recommend!.

The lock would open sometimes, and other times, it would not. Master doesn’t make this product like they used to. They’re made with cheap materials now. You can tell as soon as you pick one up. The malfunctioning lock ultimately had to get cut off due to its unreliability.

This lock is very sturdy. I would, however, caution you to pay close attention to which way you put the lock on the shackle because if you put it on backward you won’t be able to use the key to get it off since the key opening will be toward the back.

I know because I’ve done it before and had to cut it off with a bolt cutter.

Couldn’t attach the lock to the locker. I have never seen a lock that the whole hook comes off. Do not buy

Ive used this as a lock on a shed hasp and staple and its much more robust than the padlock I had before and great for the price. Being a Sold Secure item also gives extra comfort that it will be a quality bit of kit!.

Great disk lock that fits most bikes. Well protected so it won’t rub or scratch anything. Sold secure silver so it’s a decent deterrent. Idea if you are out and you are going to leave your bike unattended for a short time.

Obviously not as good as a decent chain and ground anchor but its lightweight and can be carried when out and about.

I’ve been using this lock for over 7 years now, and have owned a few. None have failed. They’re fantastic. The size is pocketable if you need, but big enough to lock to most posts. I used to be a bike courier, so I’d like to think I know locks.

Yes, it rattles. But it is way lighter than most of the competition, which matters a lot to me. The attaching bracket on one of my 3 locks was tight, so I had to sand it down a bit to slide in easier.

The locking mechanism on all of them have been rock solid. I’ve never had a kryptonite this consistent, they always needed to be lubed up periodically. All in all, it’s not perfect, but I keep buying them as it’s the best I’ve found.

I bought this less than a month ago. It worked well for the first week but since then, I have had to wrestle with it to get it to open, but not each time (weird). I finally gave up on it yesterday and returned it to MEC.

They tested it and of course, it worked fine. I explained that sometimes it popped open easily and other times jammed after which they treated me like I was lying about the problem with the lock. I had to argue to get a refund for it.

Not a good look MEC. Anyhow, don’t buy this lock. It jams.

Actually, the only thing that I don’t like much is the weight, it’s a bit too heavy. And my bike had this weird form frame which make it even more complicated to carry (I couldn’t use the mounting bracket).

Regardless, it’s just perfect for what what I wanted: commutes to downtown and easy to use/lock down, the additional cable is great for extended protection of the front wheel. If you own a normal hybrid bike or city bike, I would say this is your best bet, but if you’re looking to use the mounting bracket on your mtb frame, be sure it’s a mostly rounded frame or have space for it in your backpack as I do!.

I read the advice on the website regarding how to much to spend on a lock and took the practical and clearly explained points on board. The lock is slightly heavier than I expected BUT this is the only negative about the product.

I can lock up my bike and my children’s with no issues at all. When my husband saw the lock he told me I was being OTT and yet this week on holiday in Amsterdam his bike was stolen and mine (which was next to his) wasn’t touched at all.

I felt very safe leaving my bike overnight in the back of my car all over Europe and the UK. I am extremely pleased with the lock.

This is strong lock with a good security rating at the cost of being heavy. But the hefty lock does give you confidence that itll take time for someone to saw through the lock. Ive used one for over a year now and so far no issues.

Im not sure how itll cope with being exposed to the elements long term but if its been in the rain, Id squirt a bit of WD40 just to be on the safe side. A lot cheaper than other locks of similar security rating but never rely solely on a lock to keep your bike safe.

These spikes work well to keep birds from landing on unwanted surfaces. I now have fewer problems with birds landing and subsequently soiling adjacent areas. However, I have noticed that the spikes created areas where dirt, leaves, and spider webs accumulate.

I would rather clean up the dirt than having to clean up bird excrement.

Taller than expected. Mounted them exterior pipes with tie so I have no idea if the glue works. To big to mount on exterior window trim which is what I bought it for. I will need to find another item to keep the birds from nest building.

The spikes look pretty uncomfortable for birds to nest on the pipes I mounted them to.

This product works great. Easy to put together. Used them in 2 different places. Put on the top of an outdoor fan where the birds would sit. they can no longer sit and dirty my deck any more. Robin birds try to make a nest above my front door every year.

Placed this above the door and the bird made a nest in the bush.

I had two of these on rifles and had no issues. Bought a third one set it to the same combo as all of the others, tested it out before putting it on a new rifle back in January, worked fine so I put it on my rifle and stored it away.

Flash forward to this summer. Bring the rifle out for a day of target shooting for the first time, cant get the lock off, ruined my day. Started doubting myself. maybe I put in the wrong combination? So while watching TV one night later that week I tried all possible 999 combinations.

none worked!! The lock was faulty. Ended up having to cut it off in order to use my rifle. Immediately went to my other two rifles and threw the combination locks away, dont want to go through that again.

All my guns have cable locks now or I remove the bolt. BE WARNED, THESE MIGHT RUIN YOUR DAY.

I own several Master Lock trigger locks and won’t buy any other type. After using the keyed ones for a while, I switched to the convenience of the combination locks. Spend the extra few dollars for the combos; you won’t regret it in the long run.

The Master Locks have plastic pins on the backside, not metal, and this is actually preferred in order to preserve the finish on your trigger guard. The cheaper imitation locks use metal pins and will damage the finish.

The Master Locks are very dependable; over the years, I have never had any issues with them.

This Master Lock trigger lock feels sturdier and operates more smoothly than other trigger locks that I have used in the past. Definitely worth the extra few bucks you pay for them. They fit the gun as well as any other trigger lock I’ve used.

Purchased this lock over a year ago, so can now honestly provide a valid & accurate review. This lock has been subjected to all weathers and still is fit for purpose. Like the turn key slide action of this lock which makes it ideal for use with a hasp fitting.

Cannot be locked out with this lock as key can only be removed when the lock is fully closed. Great product, great value. Would definitely buy the same lock again without hesitation.

Very pleased with this lock as the mechanism is extremely easy to operate. The bar rotates one way to open, and back to close, retaining the key in the keyhole until locked again. The bar is positioned toward the back of the lock so that it engages with the shackle very easily, despite the size of the lock.

Just two small complaints: the plastic keyhole cover intrudes very slightly over the top of the keyhole and sometimes ruckles the rubber slides that guide it. Also, I am finding that the key is a bit of a tight fit and even after greasing it does not insert as easily as it could.

4 keys were included which was useful. The keys have an offset slot, so they hang at an angle when attached to a keyring. Strange, but it does make the key easy to find when several keys are attached to the same ring.

the padlock looks strong and feels heavy. if you tamper with it you will have no doubt it is hard to open. However once is opened you can see there are gaps around the opening and the shoot. This makes me feel nervous as these little gaps might be enough (for a skilled person) to insert something and perhaps open the padlock.

You may wonder why I gave it one star? Security. It is simply not able to resist a simple brut force attack. I won’t put any more details here to avoid trouble for those who already have them fitted but I easily removed the safe from the wall with basic tools and very little noise.

This rendered the body of the safe broken and keys could be accessed easily. The combination mechanism itself did seem to be secure and was not subject to ‘feeling’ the numbers line up. I also removed another key safe from the opposite wall, that was a police preferred model which was very difficult to remove even with it open and with access to the fixings.

Buy a better safe if you value security. Look for a Police Preferred model online.

I have used this lock previously with fond memories so when I. was told my boat was ready for delivery I naturally bought another. Unfortunately my trailer coupling requires a straight pin type lock.

I will have to return this master lock for different type. Forgot to look before I lept.

It’s the all-time best trailer-hitch lock to lock your trailer to the tow ball on your vehicle; however, I perfer the older model which allows you to remove the key when it is either locked or unlocked.

The new version only allows the key to be removed when the lock is locked.

Several of my locks have grown legs and wandered away. Problem solved with this high quality, high security lock. When open, the key stays securely in the lock.

The quality of the newer American 5200 locks just isn’t as good as the ones from just a couple years ago. There was only one security pin , and I could take all ten of them open with little or no difficulty which is something thya should ne next to impossible with American locks.
