20 Best Lift Kits For F150 (2023 Updated)

After 1k miles rides great. Rides like a pillow/soft but can still feel the road. Upgrade over stock. Picture is not accurate. Order the lifted struts (2 1/2” kit) not the spacer. Arrived quickly. Struts came in next day.

Rear shocks, blocks & hardware arrived in 3 days. Wish receipt included install video link & pdf install instructions. Printed instructions were distorted & hazy. Easy to install. Managed to install w/o removing front axel…didn’t tear axel boot.

Knuckle turned far enough when installing new struts. 1” block for rear caused my parking break line to stretch to its max & tire rubbed it raw (left, rear). Zip tied line to pull it back away from tire.

I will be purchasing wheel adapters or neg offset wheels to move tires out for front & back.

I was wanting to level my truck for a little while now. I was going to get the leveling blocks but didn’t want to have to replace the suspension down the road. So I decided to get these after doing some research.

I was a little concerned the ride will be rough but these were not. Excellent quality and rides the same as stock. I would recommend these to anyone in the market for leveling suspension.

I was a little apprehensive when I made this purchase. I had reviewed several kits and options, but I kept coming back to this kit. The install was straightforward and easy (~3 hours). The parts are all well made, high quality, and impressed me.

The ride and drive quality after install was nothing short of amazing. This is a big upgrade from factory, doesn’t destroy geometry, and fits ~33. 5″ tires on 20×9 wheels with room to spare. It made my truck look great! I’m extremely impressed with this Rough Country Kit! Thank you American Trucks for delivering a great product in about 2 days!.

Got these after a long self-dialogue weighing these or coil-over or traditional lift. Overall the product is great. I can really see the 2 inches it added and I am happy with the product. The install was WAY more difficult than I thought and it took me 8 hours.

With that being said I don’t think American Trucks was completely wrong in their estimate. This was the first major vehicle project I have ever done, I did this alone, and had tool issues. My front struts were also very different from the install video on this and I had to bend the bolts on the bottom of the strut (shown in different video).

If you need to purchase the vacuum pump, BE SURE YOU HAVE THE RIGHT ADAPTER FOR THE AWD NIPPLE!!!!! I failed to check the connection from the pump to the AWD nipple and that took a few hours to try and McGiver it to make it work.

Also a second set of hands will really make a difference. The guys going it in the videos are professionals. If you are like me and a novice at working on vehicles besides oil changes and rotating tires, get a neighbor or friend to help.

A small child to hold the flashlight alone will not do on this one. I also had to get an alignment done after the install so plan on an additional $150 or so depending on your local alignment shop. Overall, I’m glad I purchased the Rough Country 2 inch leveling kit.

3/3 wrenches is correct. If your novice with help plan on 4 hours if you have the correct AWD vacuum attachment.

If it wasn’t for the extremely complicated instructions and the installation of the studs on the spacer this would have gotten 5 stars. I ended up not using RC’s instructions because they were just not helpful and instead just went to YouTube.

There was a much easier method in which all you had to do was take off the lower control arm. Had I followed RC’s instructions it wouldve taken me 3x as long. Also the studs on the spacer are not pre-installed so you have to use some archaic method to torque them into the spacer and THEN put it on the strut which is pretty difficult if it’s not held down by something.

Fortunately I had an area I could drill the spacer down to, torque the studs into the spacer and then install on the strut but life would have been a lot simpler if RC just sent you a spacer with the studs already installed or better yet, designed a spacer that had the studs built into them.

Overall, it’s a good kit. It works. Just like all the other ones out there for less money. This just has the name to go behind it.

I figured I could trust the video with its 2 out of 3 wrenches and a 3-4 hour tine to install. I spent 12 hours. Yes; 12 hours. The disassembly was very straight forward. I had the right side apart in about 45 minutes taking my time.

I got the extension on the strut, and that’s where the fun stopped. The lower end of the strut didn’t spin very easily at all. And, with the strut now being 2″ taller, it didn’t just pop back in. I’m a big guy (6’4″, 245#) and I had to use every ounce of strength and weight I had to get the strut back into place.

This is NOT as easy an install as the product review and installation would have you believe. It’s a TOUGH job. Dont be fooled. And, if you can get them, and extra set of hands is a must. The product itself is great.

Ride quality didn’t change at all, and the extra 2″ zon the front end looks really good. I liked the red anadized finish because you can see just a little sliver of red in the wheel well. So, this should be your takeaway from my review: This is a great levelling kit, but as with any suspension mod, it IS NOT a cinch to install.

I’ve owned my 05 F-150 since about 2007. It had a Tuff Country six inch lift installed when I bought it. It used the factory springs and shocks, with an extender for the top of the spring perch. It never rode what I would consider good.

Last year I bought new shocks and springs from a big name. I also bought a new set of the shock extenders (they thread onto the top bolt of the shock, to extend the top of the spring perch). I installed the new spring and shocks and was pretty instantly underwhelmed.

Taking the truck off-road was even worse. During regular city driving the shocks would bottom out, pushing the bump stop fully onto the extender. I had enough. I had looked at these to replace my stock springs and shocks, and then couldn’t find them again, and went with the other “good name”.

These N3 struts are night and day. I can’t wait for the weather to clear so I can go take a drive on a dirt road and really test them out. Installation took about an hour per side with hand tools (besides a battery impact).

Removal of the outer tie rod end in necessary. I have a bad back (herniated L5-S1), and it was still pretty dang easy. 10/10 Depending on how long these last, I’ll buy them again. So far they ride better than stock.

A tiny bit of bump steer is noticeable, bit otherwise the ride is better than it ever has been.

Bought these for my lifted 2wd 2005 F150 crewcab. Install was just more time consuming than difficult. While there I replaced all control arms and ball joints, inner and outer tie rods. Does it ride smoother than it did before? Yes.

Do the loaded struts work? Yes, as expected. Packaging was well done, so the monkeys that handled it enroute to me didn’t mess them up. Hope they last.

Giving 2 stars since the customer service was swell!! Thus, Rough country is a great company to work with. HOWEVER. Since new, I’d had the Rough Country 2″ billet spacer installed on top of the stock strut and then paired with the small block in the rear with N3 shocks.

This provided a great lift for my 295x75R18 Tires. The tires never rubbed, could back up while articulating, go offroad over waterbars, and worked great! I purchased a set of 2″ leveling lifted struts for my 2014 Ford F150 XLT after the tire shop said I was getting a bit of wear due to worn struts (50K Miles).

First, I ordered the wrong set (2WD instead of 4WD). I phoned RC and they sent a new set for exchange upon me shipping back the first set. Awesome! Once the 4WD set arrived, I analyzed them before performing the install.

Since these struts are intended to NOT need to have a spacer to obtain the lift height, I noticed these new struts were the same height as my stock struts – without the spacer. I phoned RC inquiring about the Lesser height and they confirmed the lift would be obtained through spring rate and position – so the lift would be a true 2″ just like I was used to with the spacer.

After the install = ALL KINDS OF RUBBING even at far less than full lock steering. I can’t even drive forward without touching the inner liner. I phoned RC again and they were curious if I had a big heavy bumper, some crazy offset rims (mine are stock) or an FX4 package, or some sort of anomaly which would cause the rub of which I did not.

They indicated the height from axle to fender should measure near 24. 25-24. 5″ – to which I measured 23. 5″ (sitting on level ground in the shop) thus sitting an inch lower than intended with a noticeably more raked front end.

Thinking there was something wrong with this particular set, RC sent another new set to install. Once they arrived, I again performed the install. with the SAME results. My ride height is 23. 5-23. 75 MAX.

I again phoned RC with the results. They indicated they aren’t having any issues with the struts and to expect this type of lift (I’d estimate 1. 15″ over true stock) height. I inquired the exact spec of the 2″ spacer lift I had prior on the stock struts and learned the ratio of what I’d need to add to obtain the proper 2″ lift and sit at the 24.

5″ height as spec’d. I measured up my old existing spacer (confirmed the dims) measured the top of the new strut, analyzed the hole pattern, 3D modeled my own mini puck spacer in Solidworks, 3D printed a prototype to confirm its positioning and function.

Then, queued up some CAM to generate some toolpaths, threw some aluminum plate in the HAAS VF2 CNC Mill and cut two of my own spacers to install on the top of loaded struts. (- There are 6 threads showing on top of the struts above the locknut, so there’s plenty to lock even after plopping a spacer on top-).

In the end, after paying for 2 alignments, some headache swapping struts 2x, and burning through some 7075 aluminum, I now have my truck back and looking how it used to – with NO rubbing!.

Shipping was quicker than expected, two to three days. Cardboard box is extra thick and packaged with foam. Included instructions are very clear, with pictures, follow them precisely and the job will go well.

If you want to keep the factory soft ride I highly recommend going with “standard” coilovers and adding a 2 or 2. 5 inch lift spacer. If you are also upgrading you rear shocks and you want true level I suggest going with a 2.

5 inch lift in the front! I do not explore much off road so suggestions on firmness are based on road driving. My next truck I definitely am looking at the adjustable VERTEX coilovers. Rough Country has impressed me so far but I can see the advantages of an adjustable performance shock.

Bought these for my 2016 F150 4×4. Love the new feel of the truck, much more planted/firm. The ride is much more like I want from a truck, not bouncy. Installation (actually put these in) wasn’t bad at all.

However, my buddy and I had one heck of a time getting the OEM out. Couldn’t tell ya what we were doing different from the installation instructions, forum post, or video. Only one glaring difference between us and the videos we weren’t using a full vehicle lift, which shouldn’t matter, we had high cap/lift floors jacks and stands.

Bud hey that’s just one guy’s opinion, please don’t let me sway you from getting these, because I wouldn’t hesitate to purchase these again!.

I was looking for a bolt on lift/level kit that wouldn’t require a lot of additional parts being changed and this was perfect! The kit lifted the truck some and leveled it out while still leaving some rake so that when I tow the rear doesn’t squat real bad.

Which is exactly how i wanted it to rest. The ride quality is superb and actually feels better than just the oem, the travel is sharper and less squishy than it was as factory setup. Install was straight and i did it by only removing the sway bar link and upper balljoint.

Went in fast and easy. I highly recommend this to people who want a little extra height but don’t want to throw a large amount of money on a lift. The rears were just as easy, and quick, i took my sweet time and finished this in about 2-2.

5 hours.

Put this kit with the preloaded shocks on my 2005 F-150. This left my truck almost perfectly level. It should likely have bit of rake but my truck has over 300k miles on it now so the original leaf springs likely sag a bit.

The ride on these shocks is really nice as well. Much better than the worn out stock ones.

It was a mission and a half to get these on but once I got them installed I was super happy with this kit. I would recommend bringing the springs and struts to a professional shop to compress the new springs onto the housing because I tried to use a compression tool I rented from the auto store and I came close to getting seriously hurt.

The new springs are way too hard to use a cheap spring compressor tool on. It was fine for the stock springs because they’re not as hard to compress, but even with a professional spring compressor it was still difficult to get them compressed enough and by enough I mean BARELY enough.

Everything else was super easy and smooth. But these shocks have no body roll, handle super hard bumps and rough train tracks like nothing. It feels more stiff and planted in turns. To m it feels the truck accelerates and stops better as well.

And with this kit I was able to fit 35” tires and -12 offset wheels (with a NorCal mod) and get them to fit on my 2016 Silverado 1500. Built quality is amazingl. The instructions could be more straight forward but with the power of YouTube I was able to figure it out.

The kit contents looks nicely made. Only reason I gave it 4 star and not a 5 is that there is very little in the way of special instructions. The blocks for the rear say to remove any existing blocks which the truck had stock and were the same size so I just didnt bother with the rear blocks.

The torsion bars took some research. They definitely did not want to come out and almost all forums had people giving up, cutting them out or going around by dropping wntire front end assembly with the bars and cross members intact.

I found 1 guy who had a decent idea, said to get a demolition hammer (which I already had) and hammer on them with a blunted point. However, that did not work by itself, I needed to use and oxyacetylene torch to heat them, spray with PB Blaster while it was red hot so it would suck it into the frozen joint, reheat with the torch and hammer away.

The keys came out readily with the hammer but the rods took some serious heat and hammering. Also, I’m pretty sure the front shovks need to be replaced with a slightly (1-2”) longer version at this point since the new ones I bought would not go in until I relaxed the tension on the new torsion key as far as I could in order to mount the new stock replacement shock.

So I did not end up needing the u bolts or the blocks in this kit and the truck looks level now.

The level kit delivered fast and with no issue. The video was not for truck but a quick Google search and install was done pretty easy. I did an alternate method of install but the end result was the same.

I like the ride much better and did not aim the headlights as now they seem to be more aimed than when they were stock and I can actually see what is in front of me versus the ground. The fit was good with a professional look and no ill fitting issues anywhere.

The quality is why I bought this product, it just looks solid I like the look of the product. Bang for my buck? It put a smile on my face!.

There are a few places that there is the potential to damage the components. When trying to install the front shocks,p with the pucks installed, be sure to press out the anchoring boots on the lower bracket and reinstall once in.

Pretty certain I damaged my CV joint and hub when attempting to do it all together, but she won’t fit. Also when doing the rear end raise, be sure to scribe or paint mark the original position of bracket to axel.

Installing the new spacer and having your axel shifted will cause your rear end to walk out while driving. Install took a whole afternoon for me by myself, you’ll need a jack to help lower and raise components and jackstands to keep the truck on.

Watch your YouTube videos so you have a general idea of what lines to remove before diving in. Very pleased with this raise, it’s nothing too noticeable but definitely better than stock.

put it on a 2005 avalanche and it came out great. I always forget what a pain in the butt these things are to install but the kit sure is better than trying to figure it out yourself. I installed this 3 inch body lift with a 2 inch level kit and fit 35×12.

5×17-9s with just minor inner fender trimming. If you have an extra thousand- do the 6 inch lift. if you don’t- do what I did. Suspension Connection had the best price by a long margin so I will be looking to them for future builds.

2005 avalanche.

I’ve done two body lifts in my lifetime and I used to be a small-line ASE mechanic. This one presented a little bit of a challenge as the directions were horrible and took me a lot longer to install than expected.

You would think if the company put this much effort in creating the product that they would at least include better directions with illustrations. Beyond that, all needed parts needed for the installation were supplied and the quality of the parts were good.

1989 Toyota Pickup 4×4.

I bought the full Vertex coil over version with the Vertex rear shocks. The parts were all packaged well and arrived complete and in perfect condition. I had already purchased some wheels and tires that I had mounted and ready.

The tires were 33” Nitto Ridge Grapplers on 20” wheels at a -18 offset. Minor rub on the felt, so just about a 1” cut off at the inside corner to stop that. The kit had everything needed and after watching several videos, the installation went well.

Me and my brother in law installed the front and rears in about 6 hours although almost half of that was spent on the front passenger side including some head scratching time and a quick trip to the auto parts store when I realized my jack wasn’t tall enough.

If I had to do it again, I think it would be realistically under 4 hours. After installation, I had it aligned (was barely out) and had the opportunity to take it over the mountains in a pretty significant winter storm.

I set the front at 3 and the rear at 4 and thought it felt as if it rode like it did before the lift. I like knowing I have room to adjust the firmness up or down. Overall this seems like a high quality kit with little difficulty on installation.

I wasn’t the happiest with this lift kit. I’ve used Rough Country on all of my trucks and I’ve always loved them. But I’ve always done only leveling kits. I wanted to try something new so I gave this a shot so I wouldn’t spend a boat load of money for a bigger lift.

I’ve now brought my truck to three different places and none of them are able to get my alignment correct. They said the only way I wouldn’t have negative camber was if I got some wider wheels. I wanted to just run my stock wheels but I have negative camber and it just looks stupid.

Also my angles are just not good whatsoever. I’d be scared to put my truck in 4×4 and really hammer on it because my CV angles just aren’t good. I think if they didn’t include the new control arms and included new knuckles instead that would solve these problems.

But I will be ordering the leveling struts and selling this lift kit as I’m sure I can’t return it. Nothing against Rough Country because I love their stuff I’d just suggest to either get a 4in lift or higher or just get the leveling struts so you don’t go through the same thing.

(I’m still giving two stars because I still like Rough Country’s products just not this one in specific).

I’ve had fox bds pro comp and for sure those are very nice lifts hands down. I bought this f 150 because I have three other work trucks and it’s got higher miles than my past trucks so didn’t wanna spend a small fortune for the lifts listed above but very impressed with the ride of the rough country coilovers and the quality of the parts and uca’s.

You won’t be let down with this set up and I’m a very picky person on ride quality. Would hands down recommend this kit to anyone. Little bit of advice to the driveway mechanics though. Let an experienced person do your install and alignment.

The way I see it if you can afford a lift then you should be able to afford a real mechanic to install it. Not rough country’s fault your tackling a job with a set of pliers and an adjustable wrench.
