We’re a new group of d&d players, and having the cards to hand for our characters classes are a HUGE help! It makes spell casting so much quicker in game than having to look up the page in the PHB for every spell, or referring back to the multiple sheets of printed off spells for each characters class.

We’re intending to collect them all alongside the manuals.

I can’t give this boxed set enough praise. As a veteran of RPG gaming since original Dungeons and Dragons, this is by far the best introduction to a table-top RPG I have ever seen. It’s moderized Dungeons and Dragons. Good for starters. If you never played before you will have to read/understand. But it’s made for starting players. Comes with an erasable map and quit a few cardboard figures for it.

Comes with a starter book for players and the game master. Along with a set of dice. Normaly played with 2-5 people, yes more can play but 5 is optimal. Its a game of mythical fantasy and imagination.

Were player make up character (on paper), that explore the world saving people from monsters with sword&sorcery. Its a great game and I would advise for those who enjoy midevil fantasy. Like Greek mythology come to life and your players are the heros on an epic adventure.

You are the game master who creates the epic adventures, quests, and issuse the characters face.

Rangers can be tricky–especially for new players. They have unusual options available to them that can make a huge difference in encounters–especially in the wilderness, but even in the city, I’ve found.

Having these beautiful little cards right ready to build or play my character smoothes over so much confusion (and I don’t have to write so much on my Character Sheet!). Nice pricing and GREAT shipping!.

This is a great tool for anyone playing a Ranger in DnD, the cards are a great size, each one describes the spell so you don’t take too long flipping through the Player’s Handbook to look at the spell’s description.

Even better, the backs have the spell-level so it’s easy to sort the cards. If I have to gripe about anything, the plastic coating makes them too firm in the grip, they seem too rigid, but maybe that’s because I haven’t “broken” them in yet.

Having these cards decks have made it so much easier. We don’t need to spend the time looking up all the details of spells, etc.

It’s literally a mini of the hardback. Great for when you travel your supplies around to play. The pages are merely shrunken to the books size which is about 8. 5 x 6. 5 inches, so for those with bad eyes it might not be so great.

But for those that don’t mind the page numbers will be the same as the hardback for referencing, which is an amazing selling point for larger gaming tables to share details with others who brought their own books! The pages are as high quality as the hardback, pretty sturdy and nicely colored.

I would caution that you be tender on the paper cover and back, it will show wear and tear from being stored or transported without care. Pictures are included to show my critiques.

The spiritual successor and improved version of D&D 3. 5 is still the best RPG ever made. Most of the credit goes to WotC for making the excellent 3. 5 edition but Paizo improved it even a bit more. If you are looking for the simplest RPG, this is not for you.

I recommend the great 5th edition D&D or excellent Pathfinder 2E for that (or 4th edition if you want the simplest AND most boring). I have played all of those but always return to Pathfinder and will continue to do so until they come up with something better.

If you want the most customizable yet well-defined game rules anywhere, Pathfinder is where it’s at. Plus, with the multitude of excellent supplemental books that can be had brand new for under $20 in the smaller paperback versions, you can have a huge collection of Pathfinder content for under $200.

PF/3. 5 > PF2 > 5e >> 4e.

I have played Pathfinder for several years and I really have enjoyed the versatility of the system and all of the supplemental material which was made available for it. When I saw a new book was out, I had to have it.

So when Paizo released this second edition, naturally I was curious. To be patently honest, I can see that a lot of work went into this edition, and that it was likely influenced by a lot of player’s requests, and ideas.

That’s all good. However, I don’t see anything overly compelling about the new edition that makes me want a whole new series of books. The first edition works very well as it is. Pathfinder was a vast improvement even over the 3.

5 edition AD&D, so it was exciting to explore the new possibilities. I’ve gone through and generated a character for the new 2nd edition and it just doesn’t have the same wow factor for me. I felt that I would have better spent the time generating a first edition Pathfinder character.

Even 5th edition D&D had more exciting character development than 2nd edition Pathfinder. In this ever tightening economic crunch of our real world unemployment and underemployment, I can’t really see the value in the reboot.

It is a bit intimidating, at over 600 pages for a rulebook, it makes you wonder if you can ever really start playing. It is full of information, but laid out in a way that is easy to read and learn. Classes are explained well, gameplay rules are easy to follow, items are nicely charted, and the hardcover edition is extremely durable.

Good thing because I will be turning pages in this book for a long time to come.

I’m a college student and I bought this book as something to give me a little extra luck for tests and quizzes in addition to my studying. The book has a ton of spells, everything from how to get someone you like to notice you, how to distance yourself from negativity, how to protect yourself, how to get lucky on exams, to how to attract wealth to yourself.

I would say this book isn’t for beginners, as it doesn’t explain the details and principles of Wiccan (i. e. no harm done, keeping your work space clean, etc) but it’s really the ideal book once you know how to use it.

By the way, all the spells are white spells, so they don’t harm anyone or anything. The quality was great, I got this book pretty fast (I want to say like 5 days after I ordered it). 10/10 would recommend.

This book is exactly what I was looking for. It is very consise, easy reading and understanding.

Bought this for my daughter and it has “spells” or what I call potions, recipes, etc. literally for EVERYTHING you can think of. She loves aromatherapy and this has so much for everything. Hardback book.

I almost loved this book. While I still believe the book is worth buying, I do not believe it is the best ‘bang for your buck’ of the new edition. First, the good: – There is plenty of variety of creatures; – The artwork is excellent, and in a very fitting style.

– Stat blocks are almost universally straightforward to use, and display all the information you need. Now, the bad: – I felt some of the flavor text for some creatures was lacking. The wendigo, for instance, is the most egregious example – a single line of description? C’mon.

A lot of relevant info for some creatures is relegated to one or two short sentences in the sidebar. I felt this made the book fall short of what it could have been. – There are no monster creation guidelines.

Now, this by itself would have not been as bad, if not for the fact that some creatures have sidebars that describe variants of different levels – but you have no rules in this book to create these new creatures! They are also not in the Core Rulebook, although recently Paizo has released the monster/hazard rules.

Nonetheless, I wish they had been in this book – as they did with the Alien Archive for Starfinder, for example. Edit (07/03/2021): it has been almost two years since my original review, and I think it deserves to be revisited.

Paizo has since release the Gamemastery Guide, which includes rules for monster creation an adjustment (which at the time of my original review weren’t available). It has also released two other bestiaries which cover some of the cases of creatures that were alluded to, but did not have their stats listed.

Because all those rules are available online for free, I’ve re-elected this to four stars. The limited descriptions for creatures, having remained, are still a factor, hence the final star still being deducted.

As a GM, this book has everything I need, from explaining at the very beginning how to run a monster to understanding the stat blocks, one reviewer wrote complaining about not having enough sizes for the monsters.

Well just because it does not give all the sizes for the creatures at different ages, does not mean that as a GM, I’m not stuck not knowing what size to make a creature, I can use my best judgement to come up with the size, that is what a good GM can do.

When you get to the Dragon section, it does give the different sizes for Young, Adult and Ancient dragons, but if they went into that much detail for all the creatures, the book would be most likely be close to 1000 pages or more.

That is very unrealistic, and most likely would cost close to $100. 00 or more.

Use to play D&D in the early 80’s in So Cal. Now my daughter and her friends are into it so she wanted these for Xmas. Looked them over and they’re small for travel and printed on quality paper stock.

I love that these come in a small paperback form now. Its so much lighter, and takes up so much less space at the gaming table. The Advanced Player’s Guide is a great resource for new races and classes to play when you’ve gotten bored with the basic ones.

This book is especially easy to understand and full of **GOOD** ways to visualize Good outcomes, as well as improve your own Good outlook for the future. I found the book at a friends house and we did the Depression relief spell, on pg 37, by playing happy music and finding happy ways to enjoy our day.

I also did the part of walking to the top of a hill to look down on everything and it helped put my being back into prospective. I recommend this to any novice Sorcery Student. As above so below and may you prosper beyond your wildest dreams.

This is a great book, with great information and spells that have worked for me. I only have done a few over the years. But I highly recommend this book for beginners and any one who is into the craft.

I have several of the first edition boxed sets and have played them a lot. I have been through this rule book 2-3 times, and introduced 6 new players through the intro scenario. The intro scenario is good to get peoples interest started, I can be played with 2-4 characters but tends to be too short with 4 characters (only 7 turns max) so i’d suggest playing with 2.

Earlier today I played the first scenario with my wife and we had 4 characters, and played “Normal. ” It was VERY challenging and we did not complete it. I like that it was hard, we can scale it down if necessary (or even up.

) This is a very good feature to the game. Monsters & barriers are much harder than any of the base sets I have played. On average I’d say combat checks average is 12 (compared to 8 or 9. ) Monsters are also more dangerous with after affects and abilities making armor more valuable than previous editions.

Barriers are also scaled up a few points over older editions. All In all I love the changes and i can’t wait to dig in more!.

The Curse of the Crimson Throne is shorter than previously published games in this series, buts adds some new features which will keep this line fresh. The first half has many characters which you will like to see again and players are likely to replay this often.

The second half does not hold as much interest. This fourth and fifth chapters seem intrusive into the theme established in the first three chapters and seem to be present just to give the players the items and experience needed to deal with the villains of the last chapter.

There are few duplicate cards compared with previous products of this line, with more unique cards as a result. The art style has changed. Whine not bad, it clashes with that of previous games, should you add any class decks to this set.

Altogether, it is a good game, but not the most enjoyable of the line.

The most important text, which should take up half of the card, has been shrunk to 1/4 of the bottom of the card. The text is a chore to read, and every card is like this. All these meaningless flourishes take up major space on each card for no reason.

Each card needs to be inspected to see what it says. Some symbols are so tiny they’re illegible. The old system of design you could read the cards on the table. This text is way too small. The cardboard counters come crinkled out of the box.

Multiple people have pointed this out. And the graphics on the counters look like something from the 60’s. They don’t fit the theme in any way at all. Everything in this box is subpar. I’m quite shocked such a popular system could take so many steps backwards.

It’s rather depressing.

I had about half of the Pathfinder books before they launched the pocket editions. The pocket editions allowed me to complete my collection at a reasonable price. (there is a lot of books, honestly).

The pocket edition books are bigger than I thought they would be and just as easy to read as their full sized siblings. Go for the hardcovers if you are a hardcore collector but if you just want the material for function over form then go with the pocket editions.

Dont forget they release all of their content for free in PDF on their website as well, but its much nicer to have the books and disconnect from screens when playing these types of games. Happy Gaming.

It is what It says in the ad. Useful book, with a format that I like verter than the original. On the negative side, it came with the corners slightly damaged.

Book is great! I only shop at the Southern Pines BAM store. The staff there is great. When I walk in they remember me by name and they also remember what I like to buy. That is very rare in retail. I hope they get to read this cause cause they should know how great they are! I’ll be back in to buy more stat guides and pop! figures soon.

This is a great product to have for quick distribution of magic items to players. These cards are also easier for players to reference magical items without having to go searching in a book. What I also like is the that they are easy to distribute, trade and take back from and for players.

It helps the DM know who has what in a glance.

Great product. Easy to use in-game for player convience. One side has artwork of the item, while the other side explains the uses and rules. We use them every session.

These are ESSENTIAL to any TTRPG game. Even more-so then most character minis, these make game play smooth, assisting in keeping track of active spells and locations is made easy by these. That in addition to the fact that these minis are some of the better painted mini’s I’ve seen.

One or two of the flimsier portions of plastic are bent, but a little hot water and that can be taken care of. Highly recommend!.

We’ve been using dice to represent spiritual weapons, mage hands and the like. Now we have something much better.

Best way to represent works is to use the actual spell. If you have characters that cast any of these regularly it’s worth it

These are exactly the style and type of miniatures that I wanted to get my daughter for her first rogue. She’s thrilled with the poses and we got them in time for her first backstab! LOVE THIS SITE! Great miniatures, huge selection, and fast delivery!.

bought these when I took up miniature painting again, great detail on these and the material is really good as well. no undercoat needed which is a bonus.

So it isnt as detailed as it looked in the ad on Home Essentials Direct, and it seems an arm is missing as well. how could this happen? Thankfully theres two figures but it will depend on my daughter if we keep or return this due to the missing arm.

I’m using this for wargaming, so I added a skeletal rider. He’s not painted up yet, but he looks awesome. What’s not awesome, is that the lower jaw is a solid, bowl-shaped piece, instead of the realistic ‘U’ shape.

As in, the dragon wouldn’t be able to swallow, breathe fire, etc. A bit of dremeling fixed this, but it seemed an odd oversight on an otherwise solid model. Minimal mold lines, didn’t need to rebend any of the material.

I love this Mini! his detail is AMAZING and he is a terrifying size compared to other minis. I heated up mines wing and straighten it out to make him that much more intimidating! what others are saying about difficult to paint is true, He is hard to hold due to the spikes and getting the brush in some of the spots is a pain but SOOOO worth it.

I had no problem with his primer holding paint and he IS the correct size for Gargantuan with a 4 inch base. he is definitely the best out of the 3 Gargantuan Dragons in my opinion. the sculpt is cleaner then the Gargantuan White dragon but the wing pose leaves more to be desired, thus the heat shaping on mine.

if you play, get this! if you don’t but know some one who does, GET THIS!.

This is a very big mini. This has literally been the most expensive mini I have purchased to date, and also with the ‘Rona this is the first miniature I’ve waited so long for (three months). However when I got it, I was a little let down.

While excited, I felt let down nonetheless. While huge, it does feel very “cheap” and is a bit underwhelming after the nostalgia wore off. In terms of painting it, it turned out to be way more boring than anticipated because the sculpt is so plain.

I did what I could adding flourishes with green stuff, but for the price I paid, from my perspective, that should not have been the case. But it is really big!.
