20 Best Lens For Phone Camera (2023 Updated)

I am not a rich man and buying a camera while already owning a pretty good device that records didn’t seem to make sense (for now).

FIRST IMPRESSION: Opening the box there was a very large label asking you to go to on care and use of the lens so you don’t break it trying to Rambo it out of the box and use it. It is also GIANT compared to what I thought it would be.

I felt like I purchased an SLR lens when I took it out. It also came with a LED attachment for a flash or light for pictures or videos. Unfortunately you can not connect via a headphone jack and for iPhone 7 users.

oh well. WIDE ANGLE: Great stills for wide angle, even works on the selfie side. Quality is good and I enjoyed using it. When taking videos, if you are moving it can be a bit weird because the lines bend as you move along.

Trees look like they are bending and other vertical lines. MACRO: Getting up close is EASY with this. I think this is what I will use it the most for. I zoomed in on flowers, bugs , rocks, and other nature related objects and it looked great! OVERALL opinion: When connecting you have to center the lens on thecamera and it doesn’t really fasten very secure.

Now I know this can be use on more than iPhone’s so I guess to get that multi device functionality you kind of have to make it that way. Now don’t attach and go for a run or do it in any crazy hurry because I’m sure an accident can easily happen.

What I do like the most is that it is combined two types of lenses, macro (up close) and wide angle. Its easily convertible and I bet it would be a wonderful addition to carry on a vacation for those areas when you need a wide angle to get more in the picture or a macro to get close and see details.

Its not a complicated device so there is not much more that feel that I can convey. I do recommend this, and for the price its not that bad of an addition to carry along with you. UPDATE: After contact from a customer service rep.

I neglected to take the plactic cover of the rubber pads on the inside of the clip. Once this was completed it held on pretty good. I used it to record a few things just to see if it would stay centered and I was pretty happy.

I went from 4 to 5 because that was really the only thing that was holding me back. As always I will update if new things are found good or bad. Also another UPDATE: As far as fitting all the items in the was I was thinking about it all wrong.

You leave the lens attached to the clip. If you store a SLR lens you always take it off the camera and put the base cover. This is not an SLR lens (although it is very close) so leave it on the clip and it fill fit fine.

All the items will be snug that that’s good also. You don’t want loose items rolling around in the case.

The metal frames are solid and well-machined, and the lenses are very clear glass. This looks like something I might have purchased for my SLR. Very nice. And they give me excellent options when taking photos.

which adds to my creativity. They are practical as well because now I can take wide angle shots that capture far more of the view–enabling me to take pictures of more people in a small room, for example.

For a non camera buff I was able to start taking macro pics right out of box. Pics are as good as my neighbors who spent $170.00 . Took 5 minutes to read instructions and assemble.

TL;DR – For shooting video on FF sensor. -Bought for real estate content -Best image: Set clear image zoom to 1. 2x (but will disable Face/Eye AF) -If you need Face/Eye AF: Don’t go below 14mm -For an APSC-C lens, it resolves best shooting in 4K (1080p is fine though on A7IV) -Requires reducing of vignette in post *DISCLAIMER* I’m knowingly/intentionally using this lens for video only on a full frame sensor which it is not designed for, and therefore I have several caveats for using this lens as mentioned above.

But I gave it 5-stars because despite them because this lens gets the job done while checking so many boxes no other lens currently does and also I imagine on a APS-C camera this lens is absolutely stellar.

WOULD NOT RECOMMEND IF YOUR LOOKING TO USE FOR PHOTOGRAPHY ON FULL FRAME DUE TO HEAVY VIGNETTING WHEN SHOOTING 3:2. I have a client that I consistently shoot architectural/real estate video content for and I needed to add a lens to my kit that could cover tight environments that my Sigma 24-70mm couldn’t.

I wanted a wide angle zoom that checked the following boxes 1. ultra wide option – 2 & 3. AF and lightweight for use on a DJI RS 2 – 4. Low aperture for low light environments – 5. Could take front filters so I can use VND – 6.

Affordable. After looking at all the full frame options, it appeared I wouldn’t be able to get exactly what I was looking for. My best bet was going with the Sony FE 12-24mm f/4 G Lens – but the front glass design doesn’t allow for filters, the lens is f/4, and with tax is over $1,800 (which I could have accepted if not for the first two features) – so I decided to do more research.

After watching Caleb Pike’s 10 Sony Camera Hacks for Filmmakers! video and saw him use the APS-C designed Sony 10-18mm f/4 on the a7s III, I looked through all the wide angle lens options for APS-C on B&H and found this lens.

The TL;DR above summarizes most of my observations about the lens, and I would just add that the AF works but I need to do more testing to determine exactly how well (obviously with ultra wide focal lengths, setting to manual focus covers a lot situations since it’s already achieving deep focus).

Since it’s designed for APS-C, it doesn’t resolves as well as FF glass, but shooting in 4K and then pixel peeping in post, it is acceptable for my purposes. If you’re interested in this lens for the reasons I was, I’d recommend testing it for yourself.

At the end of the day, for me this is speciality lens for shooting ultra wide video on a gimbal. And to that, it allows me to work incredibly fast on set, and the trade off is a little more work in post.

TLDR version: If you want to occasionally get more reach for distant shots and like the idea of natural bokeh for portraits, while being willing to put up with some image degradation, then this lens could work for you.

If you are expecting to get a 2X zoomed-in version of the sharp, clean image that your camera currently offers. beware. Longer version: I purchased this lens primarily to increase the reach of the iPhone 12 Pro Max by mounting it on the 2.

5x camera. That felt good enough that leaving the DSLR home would be a real option in a lot of cases. Also had thoughts of using it on the 1X for portraits or closer-in work to gain a bit more bokeh and not overuse the computational stuff in portrait mode.

My observations are. – While the lens does give that extra reach over the 2. 5X, it doesn’t seem to have quite the resolving power one might hope for in making telephoto shots. This may be peculiar to the sensors on the iPhone 12 Pro Max, as I’ve since seen complaints from other 12 Pro Max users but fewer complaints by users on previous phone versions.

Images seem soft, sometimes to the point where the difference between using this over the 2. 5X vs. just using digital zoom/cropping can feel like a wash. You have all of your pixels to work with when mounting the lens over the 2.

5X, but the digitally zoomed image without the lens is often sharper with fewer artifacts (see below). The softness is a bigger issue with distant subjects. – Manual focus helps a bit with the softness – the camera seems to struggle if you rely just on autofocus in certain situations – but you’ll still see softness.

Be ready to use your Moment/Halide/Lightroom/etc. app’s manual focus and sharpen somewhat aggressively to pull back some detail. – There will be enough chromatic aberration / fringing on some shots with this lens that it is noticeable and annoying.

It’s particularly prominent on white / bright objects. Underexposing by 0. 5 step (or more) and shooting in raw helps a bit, and some correction for CA in Lightroom can get you to a better place, but it’s still a thing to be aware of.

It’s less obvious in low contrast shots without tons of hot spots. – On the positive side, I do find using the lens for portraits lends a bit of a dreamy, analog quality to the image. It’s a mix of soft focus, a slight color cast that is different from that of the native lens, and of course the addition of a bit more blur in the background.

Essentially, images don’t look as much like they were taken on a phone. (Note that if you pixel peep on the bokeh, it can sometimes be a little quirky, though). And of course you get the fact that you can mount it over the 1X for use on that better sensor in low light or night shots, as the native camera just crops the 1X in at the slightest detection of insufficient light anyway.

So. Am I happy I have it in the kit? Yes. Does it get used? Yes, but I’ve had to temper my expectations a lot. It didn’t deliver on what the various videos and reviews at the time said it could. Do I think it’s worth the retail price, relative to some of the other excellent Moment lenses (Macro, Anamorphic)? Probably not.

I reviewed a lot before buying the starter kit with one 58mm lens. Everyone mentioned amazing and works great with iPhone 13 pro. I might be the first few to actually say the opposite. I think this review is important because someone else might get to think twice before investing in their lenses.

I had purchased VND for my iPhone before and it was great so I thought all moment products will be the same. Now I want to return my starter kit but I’ve already set everything up and threw away the packaging etc, it would take a lot of effort with moment return dept to receive my refund.

The 58 mm over 1x camera for iPhone 13 pro is awful. The focus is soft and bad chromatic aberration. Also there is vignettes. Better off using the native camera of iPhone with moment App which is great.

For $200 starter kit, it’s worth my time to inform others about this. I researched extensively and didn’t find bad reviews (only on chat sites like Reddit). Also, the word telephoto is misleading. The best setup is to put 58mm over 1x camera and for that the focal length you get is 52(double 26mm)! So I have a normal (50mm) looking image instead of the telephoto I was looking forward to.

Because according to moment, it’s not advisable to place 58mm over 3x camera because of CA but hmm, chromatic aberration and soft focus (it’s also hard to focus even with focus peaking) & vignettes occur also with 1x camera.

I wanted to love the lens but I don’t know why- there’s not enough honesty here.

I have come to use the 100mm STF as the only long lens I carry alongside a wide angle when travelling. It works as a regular long lens but offers better creative possibilities. I was previously using the 90mm but it doesn’t provide as nice bokeh as this one.

The T5. 6 aperture turned out not to be a limitation at all. There’s been a dearth of in-depth reviews on this lens but it’s not as specialist as you first think. Compared to the previous STF Sony lens or other similar lenses, the apodization effect is stronger and in use you realize that it is the right choice.

I am still as keen on it now as I was before I bought it.

The image quality is world class. Needs a bit of light to get the best results, but, any well lit scene works brilliantly. If you are concerned about needed to use higher ISO with this lens, try out DxO Photolab 4 and Deep PRIME noise reduction.

sorts out noise and keeps details. This is a great portrait lens, but, the very fast focus also makes is a great car photography lens. It is like having a built in ND filter letting you get slower shutter speeds for those motion blur shots while still having the aperture open and that signature STF soft bokeh.

I checked this lens out extensively via watching its usage in some 3hours of Youtube demos and reviews. It is exactly as advertised. Tack sharp, gives coherent background blur separation while maintaining the features of background and foreground that provide the in-focus subject a coherent visual context.

This lens allows the photographer to tell a story, such as This and That, This not That, etc. other low aperture lens cant do that because bokeh-mania and spherical aberration take possession of fore and background composition.

This lens sculpts light and maintains its coherence corner to corner. I think many photographers have lost sight of such story telling opportunities.

I love beastgrips and their multi phone use setup. I could go buy a new phone with a better camera tomorrow and still use this one. Add the dof, depth of field, adapter and get a wider range of usable lenses.

Only advice I could give on that is bump your phones zoom by one click to get full use of the lenses. It comes with a cold shoe mount for flash or microphone. There’s also several other points to install additional mounts.

Multiple points to mount to a tripod, jib, or slider. This is the heavy-duty of heavy duty android cinema recording options tho you can use iPhone also.

Well designed, easily adjustable, but kind of a tech-fetish piece. After I bolted all the peripherals to it I had a hard time escaping the idea of “just get your regular cam/cage and save the cash. ” That said, it does exactly what they claim and is usable with a case on the camera.

Comes with a cold shoe, mountable in either handle that they don’t really mention. The handles are tapped top and bottom so you could fit up to 5 shoes on this thing. It could take the weight, very solidly designed.

Comes with an extension kit for bigger phones.

We have a number of Moment lenses for iPhones. Most notable, the ones my son uses in his film classes for his college video projects with his iPhone XR. When he did go back to class a couple of weeks ago he took those lenses with him leaving me with none.

So I decided to get the 18mm for myself. I love the perspective it brings to pictures and videos I take the my iPhone 12 Pro. The fact is that the lens enhances the actual quality of the video and pictures I take on the iPhone.

The glass is equal to any lens we have for our Sony mirrorless camera. This is a true cinema quality lens. as are all the Moment lenses. The construction is superior as one can immediately feel when you first pick up the lens.

The metal housing is substantial. The glass is coated so as to cut down on glare and flare. Its a multi-element lens as well. No cheapness here. I guarantee you will be pleased with your results using any Moment lens, but especially the 18mm as it’s a more well rounded wide angle.

You do have to get the Moment case that fits your specific smartphone. For the iPhone 12 series they have gone to a new clip-in lens mount format. The older phone cases have the lens mounts built in.

One thing you have to know is that you can’t use the flash while using the lenses. But with the enhanced night mode on most newer smartphones these days that shouldn’t be a major issue. No question, these lenses aren’t the cheapest on the market.

But there is a good reason for that. they are, in my opinion, simply the best. I know a lot of professionals use them and the results my son has gotten for his schools projects have gotten him praises from classmates and teachers alike.

You won’t be disappointed with Moment lenses and in fact will be very surprised at the results you get by using them.

I have all the moment lens except the new gold anamorphic. I love them all but by far my favorite is the 18 wide. This is an essential piece of equipment for me. It increases my area of view AND i can shoot in close down to a few inches and get awesome close shots.

It’s well made , heavy and handles light well. Very few internal reflections even shooting back lit photos or side lit. (both my favorites) its beautiful for getting the big picture when you dont have the distance to back up.

Gives you the chance to practice your compositions also. I haven’t had the chance to perfect my skills with the 58 tele yet but it also is essential and my favorite for getting in close when i cant walk it in with my feet.

I need lots of practice with it to get as good as Taylor at Joshua tree. To wrap up i want to thank Caleb,Niles and of course Taylor for their great instructional videos and advice. I dont hashtag my photos on Instagram (laziness).

I’ve had my eye on this company for some time now. Decided to hold off till I updated my phone to look into the different lenses offered for phones. The wide 18mm is everything it says it is, and more! I’m saying this, owning an iPhone 11 Pro Max.

My pictures were already pretty insane, for a phone, and this lens just tops it off even more. The imagines are crisp, as if you don’t need to use the “sharpen” option in ur editing apps. The lens does all the work for you, which for me has captured some incredible landscapes in just one week of owning it.

Can’t recommend this company enough. Not to mention, I’m somewhat new to photography and wanted to start small and see if this was something I did want to take on part-time. I think looking into the “starters package” is a great introductory way to dive into the world of photography.

I love the lens quality, and works really well!! I especially love the micro lenses- they really are great quality! Although, when I hadn’t read the instructions properly, I attached the Olloclip directly onto my phone, with my phone case and screen protector on, and my screen currently has massive cracks on the top half, but I guess that was just my own fault- So make sure that you read the instructions well before use!.

I do quite a bit of iphone photography and this 4 in 1 lens increases the types of photos I can now take. I like the ability to carry it around my neck or in the bottom of my handbag, so its always handy for when the situation arises for a good shot when you are not expecting it.

The quality of the photos is good and certainly ok for the social media posts we tend to do. Nifty little gadget for sure!.

What it does, for the money, is great. Gives a similar magnification of a coin, or other detailed object, as some other purely optical devices that I have do. But it enlarges the view – smartphone screen size – without having to line your eyeball at just the right distance from a small lens.

And you can see the enlarged image comfortably with both eyes. I can use it with a spare phone, that I don’t use as a phone any more, so it doesn’t have to be put on, and taken off repeatedly. Have yet to try it with 10″ tablet that I also have.

Don’t know why that wouldn’t work just as well too.

Very easy to install. Slip it on the phone, make sure you can see the lens through it. put it on whatever you are trying to see. That’s it.

Bought this product and the first time i tried to put it on my phone, one of the ends that hold the lens snapped off. I do not have a cover on my phone so that was not the problem. I feel this is poorly made and i wasted $25.

For the cost, this lens is pretty good. The problem is that with the wide angle lens, the focus is quite soft around the edges of the frame. There is also quite a bit of chromatic aberration around the edges.

The fisheye seems ok. I haven’t worked much with the macros so I can’t offer an opinion on those.

This is my first time trying a temper glass screen. And I AM obsessed with how it feels. The temper glass feels so smooth and seems to responds so much better than any plastic screen. It feels like my real phone screen! It was easy to install and had very little bubbles.

The bubbles did disappear the next day as instruction says. I’m so glad I gave this a try. Great product!.

The macro shots are great with this thing. Depth of field is shallow and you can really get up close. The shots aren’t as sharp as I’d like, but for this cheap, you really can’t beat the quality. I love it.

If you are taking pics of anything that’s not stationary, you will have issues, but if you use it for close ups of something that isn’t moving, you’ll be happy with the outcome.

I really feel like my cameras are protected with these on. However they are a little difficult to install. They provide rectangular, flat stickers that say they are “to help align” things, but no explanation on how to use them or where to place them.

So i didnt bother with them because i couldnt figure out how they would help. Everything else in the kit (dust remover sticker, alcohol swabs) made sense and were helpful. So anyway my protector is very slightly crooked.

It’s a little annoying but much better than having a broken camera.

Nice well made piece, maybe a little susceptible to fingerprints, but easily cleaned. And so far even with fingerprints hard to discern any photo quality degradation from them, but cleaner is better.

It’s a light weight plastic that goes over all 3 camera lenses. Easy to install. It gives me peace of mind to know the real lenses won’t get scratched. Comes with two for a good price.

I love the new iPhones but the cameras sticking out of the phone make me nervous. After my iPhone 12 camera glass cracked I had to find something for my iPhone 13. It doesn’t affect the look or feel of the camera and the pictures still look crispy and clear.

Great price great quality. I feal very confident with this product. I see how well protected my iPhone camera lenses are now.

I’ve had this protector for a while now and it works perfect with my case. I have a otter box like case (not sure of brand) and the camera space it has makes the SaharaCase fit perfectly so my iphone has all the protection it needs, Considering how much the phone itself is, its a good investment to protect the camera.

The Lens protector itself doesn’t affect any pictures I take with it and I feel much better putting my phone down and not worrying about scratching it or getting smudges everywhere. Quality is great so far, since it doesnt affect the camera and it hasn’t broken or fallen off.

Value is OK. for $20, it should’ve came with something to make it easier to install the camera so u don’t accidently put it more to one side vs the other. With that being said, still reasonably easy to put on without a template to slap it on, my case made it easy to line up perfectly.

I bought this for the iPhone pro max 12. It cracked quickly and shattered. I had to take off with a toothpick, and thumbtack. A laminated card did not work. My lens is ok, but the paint got scratched.

I had my phone for over a year, with no damage till I tried this contraption. I read that the lens is double layered. I have a Speck case, which worked fine. I could not post photos.

I, initially, liked this protector because it is easy to install and protects the camera from scratches. However, I had to throw away both screen protectors after a month. I removed the first camera lens protector myself after a week because condensation built up underneath while I was taking a shower.

The second protector in the pack lasted a little longer at three weeks, but it popped off after my phone brushed against the edge of a table. Personally, the cost of this product does not equal its quality at all.

Excellent Protection for your expensive phone. You won’t have to worry about scratching your three lenses. They gave you two because applying It and centering it is a little tricky. I had to waste one because I thought it was compromising the camera focusing sensor.

But it wasn’t. It was kind’ve expensive because you still have to buy a screen protector and a case for the phone. Just make sure you buy a case that doesn’t interfere with application go the protector.

This is a great case for the Samsung S21 Ultra. As great as the phone is this case improves its features. I tend to wait to get the latest Samsung Note. This case comes with a stylus that makes the S21 Ultra a Samsung Note.

The stylus does not allow for taking remote pictures & other Note great features but it does allow the owner to make notes on the phone which is most of what I do anyway. Great addition to an already great phone.

The protection that this product offers is top notch. There is a large surface area that it has to protect and it does just that. With everything that my phone had been through, I feel if I didn’t have the protector on it, that the camera lenses would of been damaged.

It’s a necessary investment.

Just kidding! But I feel like a pro whenever I snap and captcha pics/vids using the IceCap color filters and macro lens. One thing nobody talks about in these reviews is that these work for video. not just still photos.

One thing I like to do when I arrive at the big aquarium shows, especially multi-day ones like MACNA, is a walkthrough with my camera phone. It’s really for my own reference to watch later when I’m in my room and thinking about which booths I’ll hit up tomorrow.

With the IceCap Photo Lenses, I can actually see the color and detail of coral specimens I may want to go back to and become up. So yeah, I love it! Easy to put on, easy to take off. It’s added joy to the hobby I didn’t know was missing.

These lenses are perfect for photographing corals with an iPhone 11 Pro Max. I stacked both colors of lenses for the best shots. Filters out the blue beautifully. Highly recommend.
