20 Best Leave In Conditioner For Dry Curly Hair (2023 Updated)

Hair Type: Long/Thick/Curly After doing years of damage with heat styling and coloring, my hair wouldn’t curl like it used to. It was extremely dry and frizzy at the ends yet oily at the roots. I tried countless brands who tout their curly line of cruelty free products including DevaCurl, Aveda, and even Lush, all of which either left my hair feeling greasy or even drier than it was and still without the curls I once had.

I lost hope until I found Living Proof. After ONE wash using the Perfect Hair Day Shampoo, Intense Moisture Mask, and Leave-In Conditioner, my bouncy smooth curls were back and without frizz! My hair is much more balanced now, and even after just one wash in conjunction with the Intense Moisture Mask and Leave-In Conditioner, my hair felt healthy.

Other brands I’ve tried that tout moisture often just coat my hair with a greasy film, but not Living Proof. It leaves my hair feeling smooth, less frizzy, and naturally healthy.

Felt like I put frosting in my hair. Sticky sticky ugh. I have dry hair that frizzes easily, and adding this product just made me have dry, frizzy hair, sticky hair. I could easily run my fingers through my hair before, but after using this product (tried both when damp, and when dry, as bottle reccommended) it was just a sticky tangled mess.

I love every other Living Proof product I’ve tried, but this one did just not work for me at all. My hair needs hydration, and this just felt like sticky gel sitting on the surface.

I have mixed feelings on this. My hair is really curly and sort of fine. I like to do robe belt curls at night to actually pull some of the curl out, and I actually like it to be a little bit on the fuller/fluffier side.

I appreciate a bit of frizz and texture. In that sense, this product isn’t a fave for me personally, but I’m giving it 5 stars because I think it does exactly what it says. If you’re looking for something to define curls, give you some hold, and tame frizz without that gross crunchy gel texture, this is perfect.

I really enjoyed this leave in but for someone which thick high porosity 3c hair I cruised through this product. With two wash and goes and the maintenance in-between I’ve used half the bottle. It works very well at hydrating my curls but I need more product for the price.

It is also a bit of a thinner texture and the smell reminds me of hotel lotion. Probably better suited for thinner or less dense curls.

Pretty good product. Things I am a fan of: light moisture and definition for the curls (I have thin, loose curls). Things I am not a fan of: the fragrance. It could definitely be fragrance free. Overall, I would give it a shot if you’re interested.

It’s nice for thinner hair, but could also be applied a little heavier for thicker hair. It’s not a miracle product, but a nice addition for some curl definition, as well as the UV protection that this leave-in boasts.

Originally we would buy this for our daughter 10+ years ago and she liked that it was for her hair “mixed chicks” 🙂 It worked so well for her cute tight curls, no frizz + a little shine and it kept her hair healthy.

She’s 19 now and still uses it. People ask her all the time what she uses to keep her curls so nice. Well, I have wavy supper frizzy Irish hair and started using it a few years ago. OMG it makes my hair curly with no frizz and hides flyaways.

I put in while my hair is wet and scrunch it. I can leave it like that and it will be a little stiff but look nice, however. I found that if I wet my hands and scrunch my hair again – after it’s dried – the curls remain and my hair looks and feel soft, not stiff.

So I usually scrunch twice. I don’t have to blow dry, curl, or straighten anymore to be able to have cute hair. This makes styling super fast and easy for me while protecting my hair.

I am no hair expert. I have semi curly, semi wavy, straight in some places, a little dry here, a little oily there type of hair. It just doesn’t know what it is doing. I wash with a very good shampoo, condition, then put this absolute miracle, light weight leave-in conditioner in my hair and all of a sudden my hair gets its act together! With Mixed chicks my hair seems to uniformly curl, uniformly have even, healthy moisture, and I do not need any chemicals! No need for mousse, gel, hair spray, or to apply heat.

This is the final piece in what I use as a complete treatment for my hair from Rhyme & Reason. This is a brilliant size tub which means you can get every last drop. You don’t need a lot of This product to get great results but I find this best if you don’t use it daily as it can best used only every few days as I find it a little more richer with it being a leave in conditioner but it definitely has lasting results with no oily resiude that you might get with leaving other types of moisturisers in.

I get the best results following this method. My hair stays super soft and light and bouncy with no drawbacks whatsoever. I’d haply buy this and the other 2 in this product line as a kit to gift to someone as its fantastic smelling and delivers such great results every time.

I really like this product. I have been struggling with finding a good leave-in but curls unleashed makes my hair really soft and light. In comparison with other leave-ins that left my hair very heavy and with kind of a greasy look.

I would say that it’s not as moisturized as I would wish for, but overall I love this product and would recommend it to anyone with curls type 3B/3C/4A. Also the smell is really subtle and very nice.

This leave in Conditioner was ok. It work a little on my hair but not much. It was easy to use, you press down so the cream can come out. I would improve this product by adding better ingredients in it.

I’m disappointed because my hair won’t stay moisturize.

This shampoo has reviews all over the place bc everyone’s hair is different and seems to react differently to products. For me and for my both my scalp and my curls, this shampoo was not the one. It left my scalp super itchy and my curls just sort of hung there.

I thought the problem was me, so I used my whole bottle and tried dozens of different methods and schedules of washing, different ways to dry after, different conditioners, gels, etc. , but it just didn’t work for me.

It might have been overly perfumes and causing allergic issues with my scalp, not sure why it left my scalp so itchy, and it definitely dried out my hair, even with conditioners and deep conditioners and the whole nine yards.

My suggestion: if you have curly haired friends, or find a travel size of this bottle, try it a couple times before you buy your own bottle. It’s frustrating to waste a product bc it isn’t working for your hair.

My Hair Is Wavy And Not Super Dry But This Feels Very Conditioning And Helps Tame Frizz. I Use This As A Regular Rinse Out Conditioner And Comb My Hair While It’s In. The Smell Is Nice But Fairly Subtle.

Personally, I Do Not Like This For A Cowash Or A Leave In As It Is Too Heavy For My Hair, So Thats Why I Only Gave 4 Stars. I Use About 3 Or 4 Pumps For My Thick Hair That Is About 4 Inches Longer Than My Collarbones.

I Have Had This Bottle For Over 6 Months And It Is Still About 1/3 Full, But I Only Use It Once Or Twice A Week. I Mixed About 10 Pumps With My Purple Semi Permanent Hair Color Once And Really Enjoyed That.

I know it’s been a super long while since I posted, but that’s because I’ve been testing a lot of products to share! Today I’m going to share my thoughts on the Not Your Mothers Curl Talk Line!Lately, I’ve been using the shampoo, 3-in-1 conditioner, and curl defining cream.

All 3 products have Rice Curl Complex-a blend of rice, keratin amino acids, and enzymes to hydrate, condition, protect, and enhance curl retention. This is a nice protein-moisture balance but I could definitely see the need for the protein-free curl masque to prevent going too far to the protein side.

As far as fragrance goes, I’m happy to report that unlike many in the curly girl approved world, the scent on these products is light, floral, and non-irritating to those who are scent sensitive. The price-point on these is also super nice though not as affordable as my old stand by Hello Hydration from Herbal Essences which is.

30 an ounce. The Not Your Mother’s will set you back about. 70 an ounce for the shampoo and conditioner. That said the HE line is now no longer CGM approved and they changed the formulation to the point that I can’t use it anymore.

A similar quality product from SheaMoisture is roughly. 92 per ounce and overall this is a very affordable and readily available option.

After using Chi shampoo from this line, which has luxurious lather, I put about 4 pumps of conditioner on and comb it through. I leave in 5 minutes and rinse or leave in most of it as my hair tends to be dry and is colored.

It is a light conditioner so wont weight your hair down. The pump curl crème is the best product for encouraging more curl after conditioning. Scrunch it in or comb through then scrunch works either way.

I also use the oil and leave in conditioner to seal in moisture before I put on the curl cream but not all curly girls need that. Nice shine to it and gets that poofy frizz knocked down. I suggest trying the shampoo conditioner and curl cream first.

If you need more hold their gel is nice medium hold and the leave in conditioner and oil is great if very dry hair. It all smells the same which I like. It has a light spa like scent not overwhelming at all.

Light coconut scent with green aloe. I hate stuff that smells like coconut but this I like. I think anyone with thin fragile curls or oily hair will benefit from this line. I can’t speak to ethnic hair but mine would be a frizz ball ordinarily without the right conditioning.

This line calms and holds it together for a couple days. Refreshing spray works for the back of my hair if flattened by sleeping. Use that underneath don’t just spray that on. I use that as a root lifter more than a refresher.

End note the containers are pretty. I think Chi outdid themselves this time. I hope larger shampoo and conditioner bottle are forthcoming.

Nice shine to it and gets that poofy frizz knocked down. This is a great conditioner! It easily detangles my curls, smells great,easily detangles and strengthens to reduce damage and leaves hair shiny.

and Aloe Vera and Agave Nectar to reduce the loss of moisture to depleted hair strands.

Is one of my favorites hair masks. I tried because one of my friends recommend this to me. It really help my hair to look better and keep it healthy. I use this once a week also I use the shampoo and conditioner for the same brand during the week.

I recommend this product. The only bad thing is the size of the product. Is to big, I would like to have a smaller size of this.

I like this deep conditioner, though I figured out it’s too much if you use it multiple times a week. I now use it every other week (alternating with another hair mask). It works great. My hair feels really nice after using it.

Seems to decrease frizz. Great product!.

I just saw this product and I remember my mother used it. I have seen that product at home. Well I will talk about her hair. She used it for her curly hair, there was always a curl who wasn’t good so she applied it and her hair was amazing.

Well it didn’t give such a huge result, I have tried products whose are better than this one. My favorite actually is from Boticário, it really hydrates the hair and gives you such beautiful curls. Anyways, my mother’s hair was also smooth, but I don’t know if it was the product or her hair.

The price is not expensive and the product is worth it. I reccomend it.

This is my go to daily conditioner! My hair is wavy, low density, coarse, and about 50/50 salt and pepper. Once again (Moptop, this is for you!), my only complaint is that it’s hard to obtain a liter bottle and I prefer to buy liters.

They have it on their website, but I can’t find a liter size in stores. I’m a pro in the beauty industry and am spoiled with always being able to obtain back bar sized products. It does exist, it’s just not readily available at my local stores.

Other than that, I have 0 complaints. I’ll continue happily buying the 8 oz size because my hair loves it, curly or straight. It has amazing slip and glide and moisturizes exceedingly well while rinsing clean.

I got this because I wanted a new “daily conditioner” and I’d wanted to try MopTop products for awhile now. I figured it would be “ok”. But man this has great slip!!! My hair did the nice seaweed thing on rinsing it out.

I’ll definitely be buying more when this bottle runs ouf!.

I don’t typically write reviews for products but I feel so strongly about this that I decided to write one. I felt like at first it did a great job of cleansing my scalp and getting rid of all the buildup.

However, after a while my hair felt super dry, stringy and like straw. I made sure to pair it with the conditioner and my hair still felt super dry and frizzy even while wet. I noticed that my hair started to fall out in clumps and I was developing scalp acne because of how much the shampoo/conditioner were clogging my pores.

Super disappointed with this line because I have a sensitive scalp and I feel like it completely ruined my hair texture. My hair feels limp, frizzy and dry after four days of not washing it when I can stretch it for seven.

Would not repurchase or recommend.

What can I say. I’m in love. My hair has always been very wavy in the back but the sides not as tight, would just end up looking fluffy. I could never get my hair to all be nice looking waves. I struggled to find the right product that didn’t leave my hair looking wet or gelled until I found this set.

WOW, smells great, huge improvement in my hair tightening into waves, especially with use of the other products altogether. I get the exact results that I want. Light, more consistent waves and the results last up until washing or good to bed.

Full disclosure, I paired this leave in spray with its’ respective shampoo and conditioner. Though the SC give me good hair days as it is, the leave in takes it to a whole new level. It helps a bit with the frizziness I tend to get but unfortunately it still happens.

Though my hair has always been that way. I also use this as a refresher! After day two or three when I notice my hair falling flat, I moisten my hair and reapply. I don’t find that it adds extra weight or visible product despite adding more product to already existing product.

It doesn’t feel layered. Overall, I really enjoyed it this! I honestly am going to keep this in my daily hair care routine because I like it that much! Definitely beats the gel and mousse products I have my far! Lightweight, doesn’t leave a crunch, and is effective! * First two pictures are with the leave in and last two are without it.

I received this product to sample on my 3b hair. The smell is a light coconut and aloe scent which lasts a while ~2days. This product is thin and watery, which is not typical for curly girl products.

I feel this product would be better suited for thinner hair or wavy girls so their hair won’t get weighed down. Unfortunately this product didn’t do much for my hair. Because it can be sprayed (due to the thin consistency) I need to make multiple sprays to dispense enough product into my hand to distribute through my hair.

It makes the bottle slippery. I can see why they’d make it a spray bottle for more even distribution, but it’s not beneficial to folks who require more product to compensate for the thin product. I would not purchase if given the opportunity to for 3b curls.

The consistency is too liquidy.
