20 Best Leafy Greens For Rabbits (2023 Updated)

This food is not good for bunnies to eat. It has a lot of fats and sugars that are unnecessary to have. My dad bought my bunny this once while I was away. Now my bunny won’t eat just regular pellets.

I found if I make my own mixture it’s better some seeds he likes and Timothy pellets. It’s your bunny though do what you do. When my bunny is on this food his health seems fine as long as he gets the correct amount and the rest of his veggies.

(Meaning no unlimited unless baby).

My bunny thinks he’s a king, feasting daily on this food. It is especially nice for him in the winter when it’s harder to come by fresh tasty things. Usually in the summer my kids pick him fresh grasses and things to eat, but where we live that’s only half the year.

He went crazy over all the little dried tidbits and seeds. He eats the pellets last, and I can’t blame him there. He is an older bunny, over 6 years now, so I hope this food helps him keep hopping!.

I bought my parakeet the wild harvest treat stick. This food was hard as concrete. I noticed that there was blood on her perch so I looked at her and her beak had chipped off. Well I want you to know because of your product, I found my bird this morning on the bottom of her cage.

She died in the middle of the night. Your products suck and you should be ashamed of yourself selling a product that is going to hurt and innocent pet!!!!.

My guinea pigs go bonkers for this oat hay. They absolutely love it, the quality is unmatched compared to store bought brands. This smells like fresh cut hay and looks green/not brittle or over dry. I did not find dirt or rocks in any of my boxes.

The hay is a great value, more affordable than other brands as well. My boxes of hay have been well packed, there are plenty of the tops of the hay stalks for them to forage for and they immediately notice when they get new hay.

So far this has been the best hay I’ve found for my pig.

We’ve tried so many different hay brands and my rabbit would eat it for a bit and then most of it would end up in the litter box or on the floor from him trying to find the few pieces he would eat. We eventually landed on BM Hay and thought that was it until he started doing the same exact thing after the first box.

After lots of searching and reviews we bought this box and it was like magic. The box is smaller than what we were ordering but our rabbit is actually eating it with minimal waste so definitely worth it.

Just ordered our second auto ship of it!.

Viking Farmer Oat hay has been an awesome find for us. We had been buying oat hay from another vendor it was variable and poor quality. We have ordered many times from Viking Farmer and the quality has been top-notch every time.

Our guinea pigs act like I am giving them the best treat ever. Oat hay has been the one hay we are not allergic to so the Viking Farmer quality is great for us as well. Their customer service was friendly and efficient.

Highly recommended.

I use these pellets as treats for my Fay. Or for intermittent snacking throughout the day. She LOVES them. Why do I do that? We all know rabbits need to keep their system moving, so to keep her body moving, and her digestive tract, I give her things she can’t resist periodically throughout the day.

I put the pellets in a treat ball to give her exercise while she’s snacking. My girl eats plenty of hay but shes a lazy bum. These pellets get her up and dancing around.

I sprinkle a few in my rabbits food as a treat. It doesn’t contain salt which is a main nutritional supplement for them. It’s not a complete rabbit food to use as their only option. If I give my bunnies a small handful daily, they get soft poops.

They do love the taste, so that’s why I only add a few pieces as a treat. I do recommend mixing this with a another brand of complete timothy pellet mix so they can get all the nutrition they need.

I will admit I tried this food only because I couldn’t at the time get my regular rabbit food. Well since that time Selective has now become my regular food for my two rabbits. They both love it!!! My lionhead rabbit especially loves it.

She runs to her bowl every morning when I fill it. Each pellet is a rich green color. The prebiotics in Selective helps to support digestive health, which is what my lionhead needs the most. She has had trouble before with her digestive system.

So I was very happy to see that Selective has prebiotics.

My original two piggies (they have since passed away) absolutely LOVED this stuff! They easily transitioned off Oxbow pellets onto this brand and would wait around their bowl in the morning and finish all the pellets within 10 minutes.

They never had any health problems or any problems with these pellets and my vet said these pellets are approved by her and are good quality. I currently have 3 piggies who were adopted from the local shelter, which from what I could tell, they were eating guinea pig pellets that had other bits of things mixed in, like pea flakes, corn, and other added seed type ingredients.

I’m not a fan of these types of mixed pellet diets so I wanted to transition them to Science Selective. 2 of the 3 like these pellets and eat them throughout the day! They do wait by their bowl in the morning and eat them as soon as I pour it, but they never finish it quite like my first two piggies.

My 3rd piggy will not touch this stuff, even when offering it to him by hand, he will take a pellet and then drop it and run away. I would say this brand is amazing with the ingredients in this guinea pig food, so it makes it worth a try to see if your piggies can transition to it, especially if they’re currently on a pellet that isn’t the healthiest.

I love that this pellet is grain-free and does not contain alfalfa hay. I’ll continue to purchase this and would highly recommend giving these pellets a try.

I have two bowls out for my pigs-one for regular pellets and one for these. I was nervous they would not like these, but they enjoy and look for them. It is important to make sure your pigs are not getting too much calcium as well.

I also recommend the oxbow pellets as well- nothing w corn or additives or colored food bits. It’s garbage, and not good for them at all. Spending a little more on decent food saves you $ in the long run from expensive vet bills when they get bladder stones from too much calcium.

My girl had a huge bladder stone she could not pass and had to go to the vet for. I highly recommend this food. Even just leaving out a handful a day. Also, the 50 lb bale of hay on here by oxbow for 50$ as well has saved me a ton of $.

It lasts me 6 months for my 6 pigs, and I used to spend over 50$ a month running to the pet store getting small bags.

These pellets were recommended by the rabbit rescue place and they are great. Always fresh. I feed my rabbits 2 kinds because I have some other brand leftover and my rabbits both pick out this kind first and eat it all.

Then eat the other kind. They love it!!! I think they like the bigger size of the pellets too which is good for their teeth.

The top ingredient in this product is alfalfa hay which is generally only given to guinea pigs 6 months and younger or those who are pregnant. Adult guinea pigs who have alfalfa hay products regularly can and usually do develop seious calcium buildup and kidney problems.

Nuts are not typically great for guinea pigs either since they can cause tooth problems as well. However, if alfalfa hay was not the primary ingredient or at least the package were correctly labeled for young guinea pigs only, then I might have given it another star or two.

My four piggies love this food. I have been ordering this brand for a long time now, and my boars couldn’t be happier about it! And if I ever have a problem with the condition of the packaging when it arrives, Chewy sends another immediately! Love this food and love chewy!!!.

My 2 guineas love this food, it doesn’t cost much and seems like a great food. I have yet to have a problem with this food and all I do is mix a little bit of the Kaytee Harvest Blend treat package in with the food.

I usually do a whole bag of the harvest blend for every bag of this food, the harvest blend is only about $2 making this food $6 and it lasts my 2 female guinea pigs who eat a lot about 3 months.

This is the food we use for our adult rabbits (I’d recommend a food specific to young rabbits–1 year old or less). It has good nutritional content and the rabbits really like it. The foods that have the fake carrots and such in it may look good to a human, but my rabbits at least couldn’t care less for it.

This non-sexy pellet-only food is plenty good for them. My problem is that one of the rabbits likes it a bit too much, so we have to be careful not to overfeed him and make sure he has more opportunity to eat hay than pellets.

It’s actually good practice to push hay over pellets. My method is to simply give less pellets and make sure there’s plenty of fresh hay.

I recently got a mini lop bunny and when being given to me the previous caretaker had fed him Kaytee pellets. Of course, I went to go buy the same brand, knowing how picky some pets can be. One thing to note about this particular pellet (and its perhaps my own sensitive nose,) is that it has a strong smell.

To what, I am not sure, but its as if every time I open the bag I am attacked by a scratch and sniff of every pellet smell condensed in one small area. My rabbit, on the bright side, does not seem to care and happily munches away.

So happily in fact, he stopped eating his hay the first day I gave him these pellets (I had given him more than I normally did) which was hilariously scary for a first time bunny owner. Its a good brand overall, and the amount of pellets is plenty.

I compared the ingredients and found them to be extremely similar between this food and the Oxbow. I made the decision to purchase this food and am now on my third bag! Miss Frida loves these pellets and I feel good feeding them to her (none of that extra added junk some pellets have).

When I read other reviews on here I found people to be concerned with the alfalfa and lower fiber in the food. I feed my rabbit all the timothy hay she can eat and at least 2 cups of greens a day, all she gets in pellets is 2 Tablespoons in the morning and evening of pellets to supplement her diet.

If you are free feeding timothy hay I don’t think you need to worry about your rabbit not getting enough fiber. There is some dust in the bottom of the bag but never so much it caused me concern or that I thought it was more than other brands.

Overall this is a great food and fantastic quality and quantity for the price! I am very pleased!.

My bunny loves it! I’ve always used this for my rabbits and I have recently bought a baby lion head who is quite fussy with some foods but doesn’t leave a crumb of this food! It’s great to be able to order a large sack of this food at such a great price.

I will return when my baby bunny has got through this huge sack. so it may be a while but I would highly recommend. The boring nuggets that the pets hop recommends and are very exprnsive, my rabbit won’t touch them.

I had to switch my rabbits food because they changed the recipes and they both hated the new food. Saw this and thought I’d give it a try, both of my bunnies love it and they always have empty bowls in the morning and at tea time they both get excited when they see the bag.

I definitely think this is good value for money and will last me about a month and a half. They have 14 bowls in a week as they are fed twice a day. Nice size pellets and they love the pea flakes and a nice variety of different pieces of food for them.

You know the perfect chocolate chip cookie? Warm and gooey that you just can’t get enough of? This is my pups chocolate chip cookie. She absolutely love the breakfast-y flavors. I love the fact I can read the ingredients and find what I’m looking for, plus I love to see her treat smile.

This is a great cookie for your pup and I highly reccomend you give it a try, especially if your pup loves bacon.

We do our best to make sure even our pups treats are somewhat healthy which is why we give them these! They do tricks for them, sniff them out in enrichment toys and they listen well when they know we have these on us! These are larger and a little heavy on their stomachs so sometimes we break them in half!.

Blue buffalo is a great brand and my dog usually loves their food, but this treat is not worth it. It’s so dry! It looks and feels like cardboard. My dog does not like it nor does my housemates dog. Such a waste of money.

We got our bunny a year ago and he was skinny, lethargic and on a cheap pellet diet. I immediately decided to get him a better quality food, weaning him off his pellets and tried numerous different types of food.

However, I realized we were going through a LOT of bunny food for one rabbit. My daughter realized he was picking around the pellets in his food. Even after running low and trying to get him to eat what we had, he wasn’t having it.

I searched for a food with no pellets and found this food. He LOVES IT. He looks forward to having it every day, and eats every last bit! I call that a WIN.

Higgins Sunburst might have a bit more of a variety, but this good is very similar! It also has 0 sugar which is great for dwarfs who are prone to diabetes. + Adding mealworms or lab blocks to your hamster’s diet makes up for the 15% protein which isn’t horrible but is better to be around 17-18%.

Overall, this is a great seed mix, but still make sure to do your research to make sure your hamster has a balanced diet.

This is a fairly good blend of wholesome ingredients for your little wee companion except for a couple of ingredients which should NOT be included in a rat’s diet. Those two ingredients are dried beans and peas, both of which can increase blood clotting in rats.

I don’t know why they would include these in this otherwise nutritious rat food. The company should thoroughly do its homework before formulating these blends. I pick out all the dried beans and peas first before feeding my little buddy this food.

Not very good. My rats didn’t like this food. There were not enough large pieces for them. They forged through the bowl and eat the few large pieces that were there. Also, the entire bag was filled with bird seeds that the rats don’t like! I bought some Higgins for my guinea pigs before and it was a great food that they ate.

I guess the rat food is not the same quality as the GP food.

This is a great product as far as ingredients and such, but my piggies have always ate oxbow brand and when I mixed this into their current food they pick the oxbow out and leave this in their bowl. Chewy won’t give me a refund since I did mix this in with the oxbow food so now it’s being wasted since I can’t return it or donate it.

My bunnies love this food and the first ingredient is timothy hay. The price is reasonable and these are really great for making diy bunny treats. It’s easy to mash these into a powder to syringe feed to sick buns as well.

Unfortunately in the US, we don’t have a lot of super great options for hamster food. Some are way better than others, but we don’t have anything that is “perfect”. There’s definitely some flaws to this food, such as being pellet heavy and the first ingredient being alfalfa, but overall it’s nowhere near bad and its protein/fat/fiber is all good.

Of course like with all seed mixes, you need something like a lab block or animal protein to boost its protein content, but 15% is still pretty high for a seed mix. 4% fat is on the low side, but I personally think that’s a good thing for commercial food since you can boost the fat with likely healthier choices than what would come in the food, such as seeds or fish that contain good oils.

I imagine this food may be a good option for someone with a diabetic hamster vs some other popular seed mixes since it is pretty high in fiber and has only a very small amount of fruit in the ingredients.

I bought these for my rabbits when one of them was being treated for head tilt. The larger sized “pellets” were easier for her to pick up, and their shape kept them from rolling away so easily. I compared the ingredients and nutritional breakdown information with the top-quality pellets I usually use (made by a different company), and they are comparable, or in some cases better.

My rabbits love these and they’re a good option or addition to traditional pellets.

I like this mix because it has a lot of variety and a higher protein content than a lot of the other hamster food mixes. For my older dwarf hamster, I pick out the fattier and sweeter pieces to give as treats and use this mix for a portion of his daily food mix along with Oxbow pellets and supplementary fresh fruits and vegetables.

While no mix is perfect on its own, I find keep coming back to this one as a good choice and one my hamster enjoys as well.

AMAZING! My rat lost her sister recently, and was very depressed. I adopted two baby rats, which somewhat helped, but also gave her some anxiety considering they were young and playful and she’s older.

I was also in the process of socializing the three, so they couldn’t be in the same cage when I wasn’t around in case of fights. This was pretty rough on my older rat. Her hair had been thinning beforehand, but it got much worse after her sister died.

She scratched at the bald spots, leading to awful sores and cuts on her neck that she wouldn’t let heal. I bought this food as I saw another comment which said it helped their rat grow their hair back, and it was AMAZING.

Her hair started growing back within a week, and she stopped scratching at the scabs, so they are almost completely healed. They all love it, although it has a lot of corn, so I make sure to give them other food like lettuce as well to avoid too much weight gain.

She’s so much happier now, and all three rats are totally used to eachother and happy in the same cage!.

I bought this bag of food for my Russian Dwarf Hamster and he loves this variety. The variety of food inside is perfect for their diet. The only thing disappointing about the mix was that there were only two peanut shells inside.

These peanut shells are his favorite! He will grab them and hide them immediately. They were two at the top of the bag which can be misleading for people that don’t know and looks for more. Turns out, dwarf hamsters aren’t supposed eat them often, so it was for the best.

This bag has lasted us for eight months and we still have plenty. Will definitely buy again!.

This food isn’t safe for guinea pigs due to it containing seeds, nuts & corn. All of those foods are dangerous for guinea pigs due to being a choking hazard. I actually didn’t realize this food contained those when I fed it to my piggy.

It was a sub for the food I had originally ordered. She quit eating her veggies which is something I’ve never had her do before lol. My daughter actually realized what was in the food & told me because we were concerned over her not eating her veggies well.

She was picking the nuts, seeds & corn out & filling up on them. Back to her old food & now she is eating her veggies again.

I love getting this food for my guinea pigs because I know I don’t need to add anything to it for them to get all their necessary vitamins and nutrients. I have 10 guinea pigs and it really satisfies me that they eat it with no problem.

They are all healthy and never look sick or stay hungry. I am very pleased with this for my pets. I do recommend it definitely. I give it more than 5 stars.

This food is absolutely not safe for Guinea pigs – ever. The seeds and corn can easily kill them. Do not buy Guinea pig food with seeds or corn. Good old Timothy hay pellets will do just fine. Stop using this food and research safe foods for Guinea pigs.

My rabbit Baxter enjoys his treat nightly when he is out of his cage. He jumps onto the lounge onto our laps to receive his treat. Only downside is the mess he leaves behind. If only I could train him to eat the crumbs also.

We haven’t any at the moment and he comes to us searching the lounge , our laps and even sticking his face into empty coffee cup to search for them. So I have to order a few. Picks at a time so I don’t disappoint him at night.

This is probably the healthiest brand of treats you can buy for your rabbits. My bunnies love the meadow, woodland and country loops. I’ve been impatiently waiting for the berry and orchard loops to come to the US since I got a sample from the company.

It did not disappoint! You NEED this in your bunny treat jar. Hope that petco brings the garden and forest sticks as well.

It is what it is. A great source of variety of ingredients for hamsters.

Got this as it seemed like a high quality pellet food for my 2 bunz. I at first mixed a small amount in with their old pellet food. I was really saddened to see they would eat the old pellets and totally ignore these until later when they would go back.

Now the mixture is 50/50 and they totally ignore the old pellets. They even run excitedly to their food bowl in anticipation of it. These pellets also look more like nuggets with a variety of other veg things in there.

I often hated the look of the typical pellets. Really happy with this product and will continue to buy this until they are older to switch to the adult version.

when i saw “forage blend” i ordered immediately because my chinchilla loves foraging. unfortunately this product didnt wow either her, or myself. there wasnt much of a mix or selection of morsels for her, the timothy hay was not vivid green like her usual, and upon opening the bag, i wasnt sure if the product had a distinct smell, or if it was stale.

but it smelled a little on the stale side, and i didnt even think to check if it had an expiration date. i will not be buying this product again, the amount of hay in here didnt make me feel like this purchase was worthawhile since i always supplement her diet with seperately bought timothy hay.

3 stars for average but a decent price point.

I use this as a fun treat or supplement to my bunnies’ regular Martin’s pellets. They love the variety that Versele Laga Cuni Nature offers. I wish my local store carried this regularly because it’s a hassle to have to pre-order a bag, especially when they are out of stock.
