I also own the Worx leaf blower/vac, which works very well, but I really needed something that would handle mass quantities of leaves. Bought it immediately when I saw it online. I was not disappointed! Easy to assemble and easy to disassemble and store.

This shredder does exactly what they say it does. I was able to fill eight 55 gallon bags with finely shredded, tightly packed material in about 3 hours (that’s included raking the leaves into a container to take to the shredder).

TIP #1: Use a lightweight, rigid container to load the leaves into the shredder. I have two 26 gallon collapsible leaf bins that worked great. The key is to hold the bin like you’re dumping it into the shredder, BUT DON’T DUMP.

Pull the leaves out in big handfuls, don’t rush. You’ll get better shredding results in the same amount of time and you’ll extend the life of the trimmer line so you don’t have to replace it as often.

Plus, it gives you a chance to pull sticks out of the leaves. This is important because it saves the trimmer line. TIP #2: If you have wet leaves, slow down loading it into the shredder. It still works well, but doesn’t shred as finely.

Also keep a putty knife handy, because after several bags are shredded, you’ll get a buildup of material sticking to the sides and the opening in the bottom, a lot like the stuff that builds up under your mower deck.

A quick scrape and it’s gone. TIP #3: I highly recommend you use your own bulk trimmer line and cut it to fit. 0. 96 size seems to be the best choice. I tried regular, star shaped and braided line. The star seemed to last longer, even over the professional braided line.

Just use the line that comes with the shredder as a gauge. Spend 5 minutes cutting lengths of line, maybe 20-30 pieces, and put them in your pocket. It’s obvious when a line breaks. (You can hear it.

The sound of the shredder changes. ) You’ll be changing line several times, but it’s very easy and quick. Just thread a new piece through the shredder head, pull the ends down through the big hole and you’re ready to go again.

No sweat. I hope these tips help. This shredder has worked great for me and has drastically cut down the time I spend dealing with the mountains of leaves in my yard.

I started using mine on the 1st of June and am really impressed. First though what I don’t care for. 1st, the string supplied with it is way to small and for what I’m doing it doesn’t last at all. 2nd, there is no way to easily remove the filter for proper cleaning, which is mandatory for the motor to last.

I would like to see an option of using a set of nylon blades instead of the string. And a replaceable filter would be nice too. I’m not using it to mulch leaves, instead I use it to fine chop hay for my older horse who has dental issues and who cannot get the proper nutrition from eating long stemed grass hay.

Since I started doing this my hay waste has gone from close to 50% to maybe 1% thereby providing me a major savings and my horse is benefiting by being to easier to eat and digest the hay. Thank you for your product.

Raked up 28 bags of leaves from our two trees. Most dry and some wet by rain. The day after my leaf mulcher arrived I got to shredding. I learned quickly that you want to pour in slowly. That means you observe the rotation of leaves in cylinder.

As long as the walls don’t cake up you can increase input of leaves, wet or dry. If you put them in, casually use hands to loosen leaves so they don’t go in bunches which cakes to walls. Especially wet ones.

After each bag I would use hands and wipe any caked up or walled up debris. This helps tremendously. 28 bags took an hour. If you compare to lawnmower going over leaves, over and over, then bagging, this is superior.

It would have been much faster with help but I wanted to see how to use this optimally. I don’t see any better models out there, nor any complaints for this. It does the job, and you must be patient, or hire someone if you can’t.

My 28 bags went down to 8. I put the shredded leaves in a 4*4*4 bin and it went 60% full. This will be my mulch next fall.

I like the shredder, however, I have found a design flaw. The manual says to clean the external foam filter regularly to maintain operation. What the manual does not tell you is that there are two internal foam filters that must also be cleaned.

However, to get to these internal filters you must void the warranty because you must remove the motor cover. To maintain this unit, turn the unit over and remove the 5 screws holding the motor housing in place.

Once the housing is removed the two internal foam filters are accessible. I do this after about every 15 minutes of use. If you don’t clean these internal filters it is not a case of IF the shredder will fail but WHEN it will fail.

Other than that, the shredder works as it should.

We have a lot of leaves and not all are where they can be mowed over with my mulching mower. In trying to make compost for the garden we wanted to try one of these leaf mulchers to see if they were up to the job.

We bought one of the refurbished ones and got some extra cutting cords. The unit looks new and works well, even on tough mulberry leaves. Be warned that these units are very noisy and can create quite a cloud of particles, so wearing hearing protection and protective eyewear is a good idea.

We put a plastic garbage can under the unit and were pleased with the results. The degree of pulverizing leaves can be adjusted and we will play with the settings as we get into different types of leaves as the fall progresses.

This is large to store, but we can remove the legs and hang it up somewhere in the garage once the leaves are gone. As Mike McGrath says, leaves are the best material for making mulch, but they need to be ground up to speed decomposition.

Been wanting a 3pt chipper for some time and chose this after watching several videos. Quick to assemble and to put into use. I took it out to our christmas tree farm to chip undesired trees. On the way the private road was blocked by trees from a recent storm.

This made quick work of the tree limbs to get the road open. After getting to the area to chip up the trees it made short work of it and is providing a chip pile for mulching. I did not shear any pins or plug the chipper up.

I wish all my work was as fun as this was to use.

Received the chipper. Had some shipping damage. Surprised as it was shipped in a well made crate. Contacted Titan and received a quick response for the shipping damage. The chipper is very well made.

Hooked up to my 25 HP tractor. Chipped up some brush that I had cut down. Largest diameter was approximately 3 inches. The chipper worked great and the 25 HP tractor handled it just fine. Very good customer service and well made product.

I bought the smaller of the two chippers for my 24. 9 hp Yanmar SA424. My last chipper was a Bearcat for a 33 hp Deere. This new chipper out performs the other hands down. I had two people walking limbs to me to feed into the chipper and they couldn’t keep up with me feeding this beast.

This machine actually self feeds with four large cutting blades. The opening is way wider which means little fussing and removal of side limbs to make it feed. Wow, did I ever make the right choice this time.

Engine never slowed down either!.

This is a well designed, heavy duty and great performing machine to “chip” twigs and branches up to 2. 5″ thick. However it is NOT a chipper as the product description implies. It has one very tall and large chute that accepts lots of different shapes and sizes of wood pieces and chews them up very quickly.

It has a large single “flywheel” equipped with two robust blades that slice and dice. The pieces it spits out are pretty good sized chips, and my wife made it clear to me that she could not use them in the garden.

She wanted the “shredded” material that our 90s era 10hp Bolens chipper/shredder spits out. So I collected the Yardmax chips on a plastic tarp and fed them into the Bolens, and what came out of the Bolens were perfectly shredded pieces, and it processed them very quickly since the wood was already cut into chips.

Needless to say I’m keeping the Bolens so that we can have shredded material for the garden. The chipper function on the Bolens can’t come close to the Yardmax, so I only use the Bolens for shredding.

Back to the Yardmax, as other posters have mentioned, the output chute flap needs to be removed to prevent blockage. The Briggs engine starts first pull whether warm or cold and runs strong. I broke in the machine by using it for 20 minutes and then letting it cool for a half hour and doing this four times, while letting it warm up and cool down at half-throttle for 10 minutes each.

The chips fly out of the chute at extreme velocity, so be very careful about keeping your hands away from flying chips. I have a 17 cubic foot yard trailer that I used to collect the chips. I laid a heavy canvas tarp over the top and back of the trailer to prevent the chips from flying out of the trailer, which worked great.

The machine is relatively easy to move around on the wide tires, considering its weight and size. I will mention that the machine is surprisingly quiet compared to my Bolens chipper/shredder — the Briggs engine is much quieter than the old Tecumseh, and since the Yardmax is only a chipper, it doesn’t have the “flail wheel” that the Bolens shredder has, which adds quite a bit of noise, especially when shredding material.

As a residential chipper, I give the Yardmax a 9 out of 10 score. But please Yardmax, remove the “shredder” from the product description, because it has no shredding device in the machine — it should be renamed Yardmax Chipper.

Anyone purchasing this machine with the intention of it being a shredder will be highly disappointed, but those buying it as a chipper should be highly satisfied.

Starts easy Works GREAT on palm fronds Both green and dry. I was told by several people that the only way to dispose of palm fronds is to burn them. They said that palm fronts would jam all but a large commercial chipper.

Wrong. This thing works great with palm. Good thing since I live in Florida. It also works with branches up to 4”. But I recommend avoiding that as it really stresses the machine. 2” no problem. 3” ehhhh.

It works pretty good. 4” Might as well use for firewood anyway. Not so great on oak trimmings. Granted I was trying to chip “dry” stuff. Firstly, the “twigs” won’t go down the chute. This is with small 1/4” leaf bearing clumps.

I have to really work hard to get them down in the cutter. AND, once I do get them in, they wrap around the shaft and gum up the works. I’m leaving the remaining twigs to where they are so brittle they’ll hopefully shatter.

I’ll update once I’ve tried this on fresh trimmings.

I just finished my first 80 hours of use, and second oil change. Typical Briggs and Stratton engine, with the oil drain on the side. It can be messy if you don’t rig up a flexible drain funnel to catch the used oil.

Works fairly well, have yet to successfully chip a 3″ branch. Need to be careful with top access panel as it can easily open and expose the chipper blades. Removal of blades was difficult, as it was too easy to strip out the hex head.

I have lived all over America and every home I’ve owned has always had tons of trees. I’ve logged in countless hours raking and gone through three, 2 stroke leaf blowers in the past 30 years and never really considered buying an electric leaf blower simply because I thought they were powerful enough to handle the heavy load that fall leaves bring.

*BONUS!!!! I have a black truck and have already used it for a touch-free, toweless dry off which eliminates swirl marks. I use the lower setting for that. *You can download the entire owners manual that covers everything step by step including the AWG rating for the length of extension cord that is being used.

THIS IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT for your safety and the longevity of the blower. For instance, I have a 100ft, 14awg cord that handles up to 13amps at length, the blower is 12amps. The chart included in the downloaded manual will help you determine what will meet your needs *It is no louder than any leaf blowers I have owned in the past, that being said I would advise some form of ear protection, but that’s just common sense.

***I AM OVERWHELMED by the velocity and function of this machine, and the ease of switching from one task to the next. As with anything you invest in, a little maintenance will go a long way. Take care of it and it will keep working to help simplify the task at hand.

10 years and still going. Prof handyman, I do 40-60 roof & gutter clearings/yr, often with wet heavy piles on the roof or in the gutters, often with moderately-heavy moss. Then I clear my mess on the ground.

The 518 replaced a diff brand when it died 10 yrs ago. I use electric as gas ones are always difficult at times and batteries just don’t cut it. My max range is 150′ and I use 10ga cords for that. Most often it’s 100′ & 12ga 300V cords.

Never had it heat up or balk. It’s a great machine. Of course, there’s that teeny star missing from 5-stars. I rig my machine with 2 2. 5″ shopvac size pipes & accessories to save my back from over-bending, and help scrape the moss off the roof.

I only use one end-tool style because it works perfectly, even when clearing the ground. best to direct the flow. The 1-star demerit is every blinkity-blankity manufacturer has “proprietory” diameters forcing you to use their accessories.

I wear through 6 end-tips/yr (moss scraping), and you cannot find replacement proprietory parts easily, and I’m very specific in the design I want & use as it has proved the most efficient & effective, and no proprietory parts are made to match my specifications.

That picks my nose and costs me a LOT of duct & foam tape. But the 518 earns every part of my 4 stars. Good power & volume, good velocity, all tossing a bunch of dry leaves a long way, a bunch of wet leaves just keep rollin’.

And. 10 yrs of excellent service!.

Interesting design seems to work well but takes a long time to do a yard, taking more than an hour to clear half of a 50ft by 50ft fenced yard. Does do a better job than trying to pick up the leaves manually.

the design is good with the shoulder strap and the zipper bottom for emptying. Would be nice I think to have a larger bag for collections and you must make sure to not hit any puddles by accident. I have used this to clean the rubber mats in the dog kennels of pine needles and leaves (where we figured out about the issue with any slight puddles or extra dampness).

The pine needles are one of my main concern as they are both difficult to deal with in the dog kennels as well as hard on the grass when they are thick on the lawn (not even under the pine trees). I am hoping this becomes a valuable tool also in the winter to clear off the door step from snow as I am unable to shovel, so will come back when I have an opportunity to work in that area.

So far I am happy with it. But have only had the opportunity to have it used for two days. Suggestions: larger catch bag.

Faced with a continuos batch of fresh leaves every week, and and my desire to use all of it in improving the soil of my garden I reviewed different chipper shredder machines. I decided to purchase the Earthquake model 33968.

I have processed a large amount of leaves and garden refuse on the first 8 hours of operation. I am a complete novice using this machine, but it is growing on me. The machine generated a lot of noise and way too much dust.

It is true that the Magnolia leaves are bone dry once these hit the ground, I have been improving my knowledge of how the machine works, and reduce the dust quite a bit. It is still an issue. The machine does the job, no question about it, but it is still too dusty for my preference.

Any suggestion out there?.

The earthquake wood-chipper is heavy duty and. A quality made product. Great for use in backyard and front yard maintenance. The wood-chipper was easy to set up and use. My favorite feature is the bag that collects the mulch.

I allowed my husband to shreds all the brachial and dead leaves and then I use the mulch on our flower beds. No flowers till the spring but my front yard will be ready :), con is that it’s pretty heavy so I would recommend getting help to get it out of the box if you have weak arms like I do.

After it’s set up it’s not too difficult to push or pull around thanks to the durable tires.

Highly impressed with this chipper/shredder. It was easy to follow the instructions and assemble. Setup was easy and getting it started was a lot easier than I first assumed it would be. The collector bag is a nice addition and makes for an easy clean up.

It’s made yard clean up a breeze and we’ve actually went around to find more (cleaning up the yard even more) to put through. I love that it has wheels and can be rolled around for easy movement. Overall a great yard chipper and I highly recommend.

Wish I would’ve known about this years ago!!! I’m a skeptic and obsessed with reading reviews before buying a performance product such as this. Even reviews a lot of times are skewed regarding the gaps in each persons expectancy, experience, logic etc.

At only $109 I figured it was worth the risk. Well Ive used it for a week now and I have not been disappointed, but i have been very impressed! So, I figured thered be no problem blowing leaves around, i was more concerned with its vacuuming ability.

Well it sucks, but in a really good way! Other than scattered leaves around the yard I had numerous piles of leaves that had made their way into corners, crevices, cracks etc. over a couple of seasons.

This thing sucked up piles, even compacted piles several inches deep, with little effort. It’s mulching capabilities are excellent as well. The mulch bag hangs over your shoulder and connects to the bottom of the blower, it is super easy to connect/disconnect.

The bag’s 16:1 ratio sounds accurate (1 full mulch bag = 16 trash cans of raked leaves). After finishing yard work I wanted to vacuum the garage and it worked great there too picking up smaller scraps of grass, leaves, wood, paper etc.

as good as my home vac does indoors. Ive read in some reviews about the length of the tubing being too short for taller persons. I’m 5’6” and its ergonomics were fine for me. I could understand how taller people may become tired with an aching back/shoulders/neck, but there are tubing extensions i believe.

The basic $109 model i bought came with the mulching bag and i did not buy any extras. The quality feels really good and well made. Overall I’m very pleased and feel i got more than what i paid for in performance.

Hopefully it will last for a long time.

This is my second WORX Blower/Mulcher Vacuum. The first one, which I had for about 5 years, was great except the connection point knob for the bag broke because of the constant twisting and locking feature so I had to put a screw in its place.

This model is a much better design with a press and push locking mechanism for the bag. It makes it much easier to remove the bag too. In addition, the mulch/vacuum lever is a much better design too.

Again, it’s very easy to use. The blower feature performs equally well as the old model, but the mulching is much better. Probably because of the metal blades. The improvements were a great adjustment making this model the best on the market.

The only thing I’m not happy about is the plastic cord locking aspect. It works fine, but the cord coming from the WORX could be a bit longer. Regardless, this a great WORX product and I recommend it.

It make short work in yard clean ups. By the way, my old model was still working fine when I gave it away. WORX still makes the older model, but if you looking for a blower/mulcher vacuum I recommend this model.

First time I ever had fun removing leaves! This TRIVAC is the greatest! I don’t have a large yard, but I do spend several hours raking and bagging leaves, even if I run over all I can with my mower first; until yesterday.

All the work of leaf removal ended yesterday. I purchased one of these at the local Menard’s. After arriving home it took all of 5 minutes and I was vacuuming and mulching piles of leaves. Then moving on to the leaves around the house.

An hour or less, and I was done. All the leaves were mulched and bagged ready to recycle. This is so much fun I did the neighbor’s yard. I don’t know why some think this is big and bulky. What do they expect? Tiny and not able to chop leaves or sufficiently sized to handle the tasks of blowing, vacuuming, and mulching any size leaves, small twigs, and even crab apples.

Many ratings on similar items state the chop ratio is more like 4:1 rather than 16:1. Here’s what I found; my yard generally takes 5 or 6 50 gal. contractor trash bags for leaf gathering. Yesterday, same yard, same amount of late autumn leaves, maybe more since I did not gather leaves before, I filled one 50 gallon contractor trash bag about 3/4 full.

My only improvement to this product would be to make the intake tube about a foot longer for people my height.

My husband and I had just bought our first house last year (2020) with a lot of yard. So of course we looked into leaf blowers, and vacuum/mulchers. When we found this product we fell in love. Blower and vacuum/mulcher with a metal blade! So we ran out to Lowes to get it.

So last year we used it as much as we possibly could, because we were in love with it. So after all the leaves were gone after winter, we put it back up in the garage to wait until next fall. We bring it out in October (2021) when the leaves start falling again because our son’s first birthday is coming up and we’re throwing a party at our house.

We’ll what do you know it won’t turn on. We tried different cords and different outlets just to make sure it wasn’t something else other than the blower. Sucks when you pay a lot of money for something and it only lasts for a year! Now needing another one, and worried about getting Worx again.

Will probably just stay away from them.

I have about a one third acre yard with a combination of maple, pine, and black walnut trees. As a vacuum, this device is strong enough to handle all of the leaves even when they are slightly damp, but it is far too weak to handle smaller and denser items such as the main stem of black walnut leaflets and pine needles.

It can pick them up, but does so weakly. And pine cones are right out. The diameter of the tube when vacuuming means that only a very small area is cleared, so trying to use it to vacuum the whole yard is extremely time consuming and I would not recommend purchasing this if that is your aim.

Switching between the vacuum and blower is quite simple and you will find the need to do so when the vacuum pulls up something that gets stuck in the mulcher, usually small bits of wood. They are easily cleared by detaching the bag, flipping from vac to blower, and if necessary, removing a quick release access cover to clear the item.

The bag for capturing the mulch is ok. The quick attach and detach mechanism works quite well. The zipper works fine for emptying the bag but is not long enough–it should extend around the bags corners so the mulch doesn’t get stuck.

The bag has a shoulder strap which is functional, but lacks additional short handles for helping shake out the mulch. And the bag is small and fills quickly. It would be nice for it to have some filtration to cut down on dust and to have some better design in its shape to feed mulch down and away.

The blower is decently strong. If you truly want a powerful yard vacuum, this is NOT the product you are looking for. But as blower with vacuuming for smaller spaces, it is fine.

This thing will definitely cut the amount of bags you use by a lot. Only problem is it’ll take you a very long time. Having to stop and change out the line every 5 to 10 minutes gets old real quick. I had to switch to a thicker line and got it to last much longer as well as mulch better.

An area for improvement would be a bigger mulching area so leafs don’t clog as well as making the drum which holds the leaves needs to be taller so more than a scoop can be mulched. I eventually had to give up and just burnt my leaves because it would’ve taken me way too long.

Would be great for smaller yards with few trees, not for a yard with lots of trees or leaves. Otherwise prepare to spend a whole weekend mulching. Love the Worx products and I will still use this, just not as much as I would’ve hoped.

Purchased pre assembled from a big box store, and easily carried home in back of a Subaru. Only had to tighten one bolt. I am using to clear 1. 5 acres around my house in heavily timbered fine, fir and oak forest to meet fire safe guidelines.

Everything I am chipping is dry, and do far i have run through 3 tanks of gas and chipped and shredder leaves and needles, and all manner of sticks along with ponderosa pine bark and dry pine cones that are small enough to fit the hopped opening.

If too large I just twist them in half and they do fine. One recommendations if shredding large things like dry ponderosa bark slabs, feed them in skinny strips and put something like a box over hopper opening when you throw them in as it tends to kick pieces back out the top.

Also when I want needles and leaves to be shredded find (the 30′ fire safe zone around the house) i catch them in the bag and feed them back through a second time. Dump the bac in a plastic cargo container and they pour back through very fast and are almost powder.

I wear gloves, safety glasses and screened face cover as it does easily kick stuff back out top, I have had no problems. Weakest point so far is bag attachment and I chip without bag whenever possible.

It’s hard to secure tightly and I can tell the tie string is going to break soon. I will probably fabricate some form of clip or plastic and wire to attach more easily and tightly. It also would help if the throat to the 3″ chipper intake was veed wider, would help feed more severely bent wood into chipper.

This model does have a shorter throat than most units I looked at so could be worse. I have never had to pull rope more than once (except when I forgot to turn switch back on), and so far nothing has loosed on unit but I will have to see how it holds up over a full season.

Because its direct drive the pull rope does require pretty good arm strength. It’s powerful and and has handled everything thrown at it. Works excellen.

Overall, I’m happy with my purchase. This is much better than the Troy Bilt chipper I had before, even though that had almost the identical Briggs and Stratton motor. The Good:The chipper works great.

The design of the shredder mechanism means there is alot of angular momentum, and the motor keeps it’s rpm up better than my old Troy Bilt. It is easy to feed the shredder hopper, because it is a straight shot down to the shredder knives.

My Troy Bilt had a bit of a curve in the chute. That also means that it is VERY IMPORTANT to wear safety goggles. It can sometimes fling debris out of the chute. It is a heavy unit, and doesn’t “walk around” on the concrete when under operation because it runs pretty smoothly.

The lukewarm:I wanted the unit to be narrow so I could fit it in my garage. It is top heavy, and I think it would be easy to tip over when moving across rough terrain, because it is so narrow. It’s a trade off, but it works for me.

The disappointing:When I shred garden clippings, sometimes they are still a bit green. They clog up in the grate, just like they did with my Troy Bilt. My biggest problem with the Yardbeast is that it is a pain to clean off the grate.

The Troy Bilt grate was cast iron with a 5/8 inch rod that you removed to swing it down. It was easy to replace, because the pin was tapered, and it was easy to see where it was positioned. The Yardbeast is lightweight steel with a 1/4 inch retaining rod.

It is frustrating trying to line up the rod with the hole by bending and wiggling the flexible grate. To me, it’s not a reason that would keep me from buying, but I think their designers could have done better.

Machine has plenty of power and torque and seems to be built very well. all steel. Time will tell. Chipper works better than shredder. Too much green viny material in shredder clogs easy. Deadwood branches don’t chip well.

Green branches do very well. Discharge chute also clogs easily because of all the guards (which I understand are required for my safety), and because it dumps out down low, onto the ground. So if you constantly keep the discharge chute clear, and are patient with feeding the material into the shredder, the machine will do the job.

For a residential machine, in this price range, it works OK, and l would most likely purchase again. As I gain more experience with the machine, l am confident l will appreciate it more.

The machine is very aptly named, this is a Yard Beast! The unit is very very well built with high quality steel and bolts. The machine eats and shreds tree limbs. I had cut down a 30 foot tree and the machine shredded all the limbs and made a nice pile of wood chip mulch for the garden.

I did put a limb that was larger than the 3inch limit. It got stuck in the chipper and stalled the machine. I was VERY impressed with the design of the machine. Removing the limb was as easy as removing 2 cotter pins, removing two long pins gives you easy access to remove the cage covering the chipper blades.

Removing the stuck was very easy. Total time to remove the limb was around 5 minutes. The only issue I have is the speed at which you can chip/shred items is faster than the discharge can blow the material out/away from the discharge shoot.

I had to use a stick to clean the discharge shoot. The device is expensive. When it arrived I thought the device was over built. But given the speed at which it shreds/chip I feel now that it is not over built at all.

The useful live of this machine is measured in 10s of years.

This is an amazing garden vac. Its power makes it so quick to suck up all the unwanted debris in the garden. With the metal turbine blade everything is mulched to dust almost so emptying the bag is never an issue.

The bag also has the simplest and quickest release mechanism so when it is time to empty it can be done in a second. At the turn of a switch without changing any accessories you can use its blow function.

Not having to disassemble the machine like you do with so many other brands is one of my favourite features. Superb length of cable too. Used lots and lots of garden vacs and this one outshines them all.

Bought this garden Blower/vac as it had good reviews and at the time there was a 25% discount. It is very powerful sucking up leaves as well as fallen cherries from my tree. This was on the lowest setting.

The turn of a knob on the side can increase the power of the suction, not used as get but will be useful for wet leaves. It is heavy but the strap helps and with practice can get it well balanced. Easy to move from blow to suck, just a turn of the handle.

The bag is fairly large and easy enough to empty with a zip to open up the bag. A long lead which is very useful. It can be a bit loud especially when sucking up cherry stones and twigs. Only used the suck at the moment but looking forward to the autumn when I can start to blow the leaves into heaps.

Very happy with this item.

Easily switch between vacuum and blower at the turn of a lever, shreds leaves well and bag is detectable making emptying very easy. However, the bag strap is too short and impossible to use over the shoulder so all the weight is taken by one hand.

A second handle or longer strap would is much needed.

This is my first vacuum mulcher after many years of raking and cleaning up my yard. The leaves on my property fall primarily on rocks so as I used the WG509 for the first time, I was pleasantly surprised that I could grab leaves (even wet leaves) with this vacuum from an uneven surface.

The resulting mulch was fine-grained and what used to take well over a half-dozen bags fit in two. But it gets better. I also have a lot of zebra grass that need to be cleaned up. I’m not saying this vacuum can or should mulch tall (8′) grasses after cutting them down but after taking a few passes on them with my lawn mower, the dry grasses were appropriately sized for this machine to handle, I was able to mulch a dozen pretty large plants into 3 garbage bags.

I wasn’t expecting this so I’m pleased to have the versatility. The metal mulching components work well. The vacuum isn’t too heavy for most folks. You can cover a normal suburban backyard in a few minutes.

The bag is handy, about the right size and the zipper enclosure is solid. You just need to adjust the handle length so it can be slung over your shoulder. Having a cord to navigate isn’t always ideal but I imagine the weight of a battery on this machine would make it hard to lug around.

I used the blower occasionally to loosen up clumps of leaves. I already have a lighter weight battery-powered blower that is easy to maneuver but having the blowing option on this tool is handy as its one less tool to get out.

I’ll probably use this vacuum twice a year – late fall and early spring so I’m hoping it will last a good long time.

Let me start by saying I have a ton of leaves. I bought this unit because of the amount of leaves that I have each year and I had one that used years ago. Normally I have 18 to 20 bags of leaves and a 65 gallon trash each cleanup.

Now I have the 65 gallon can and 2-4 bags each cleanup. I have done 3 cleanups this year using this unit and the only problem I have had is human error (me forgetting to zip the bag attachment up). This unit has been a time saver for me because it does home/vac and mulch and you can switch on the go between blowing and vacuuming.

I like that if leaves are sparse in an area I can blow them a pile then vacuum or if the leaves are more dense in an area I just vacuum them up skipping having to blow them into a pile first. The only negative is no attachment (that I’ve seen) to blow off the leaves from the gutters.

Worx does have others that will do that. I would buy this unit again. It saves me time and money on leaf bags.

I have a half-acre backyard that gets a ridiculous amount of leaves every year. The blower on this unit is pure and simply, useless. Unless you need to clean out a garden, anything more is too much. If you look at the picture of the unit, under the big tube is a tiny tube.

That small tube is the blower. Worthless. As for the mulcher, works pretty well. Being it’s all metal makes it stand up better and it’s easy to unclog should it get jammed. One accessory that is indispensable with this unit is the universal leaf collection system (model WA4054.

2). That model is made just for this unit and is cheaper than the other universals that fit all types of mulchers. A pro tip with the leaf collection system. Use a giant pale (big square ones) with the biggest leaf bags you can find.

I used the 95-96 Gallon garbage can liners from Amazon. Then get some of those metal $1 clamps from Home Depot to secure the Leaf Collection fabric to the pail (about 4 or 5). The drawstring doesn’t work well unless you’re using a tiny garbage pail with a lip.

Keeps popping off otherwise. Now you can mulch a ton of leaves into a big receptacle with bags to hold it, and clamps to secure it. When the sucking power slows, the leaves are reaching the top of the pail inside.

Just push them down through the fabric. And you’re going to have to aim the connecting hose in different angles so the mulch doesn’t build-up in 1 spot. Overall, I was impressed with the mulcher and leaf collection system (with simple modifications).

However, I had to go and buy a gas powered backpack blower to get any real work done. Hope this helps.

It came in a small box and was easy enough to put together. Weighs about as much as a large stand up vacuum and has about the same footprint. started it up and noticed it was way quieter than i also expected.

Due to some heavy winds, i had a pile of branches about 8ft by 4ft and 4ft high. got through all of it in about a couple hours. HELPFUL TIPS: 1. straight limbs are easiest, and due to the opening on top, there is some prep work.

Had i know this from the get go, i would have done things a bit different and saved some time. also leaves and foliage do nothing but get this thing stuck. 2. it has a sorta auto feed which to be honest just bites off more than it can chew.

so holding the branch and rotating it helps immensely and goes much faster than a just push it down. 3. pushing down the first branch with the following one is better than the plastic push paddle which i found useless.

CONS: When you get a jam, and it happened less than i thought but still inevitable, the stupid knob holding the chassis together. Its a machine bolt with the tightest thread imaginable, meaning you will be turning that thing for 5 minutes to undo a jam.

If this had a clamp or one twist type scenario i would have given it 5 stars.

This chipper is surprisingly effective, once you understand its limits. I was initially hesitant to feed it 1. 5″ sticks, but once I tried, it noisily munched through them completely. I tried slightly larger ones and it still got through them.

Dry or green makes little difference. Hard and soft woods obviously affect the blade wear differently. Long, straight sticks work best with minimal coaxing; forked ones go through with some squeezing help.

Twigs (1/4″ or less) go through almost untouched; I’ve stopped bothering if I want chips without twigs. Short crooked sticks often get jammed sideways in the hopper, so best to avoid them. One stick at a time is best, but it might need another right after to chase it further through.

After a few hours of chipping lilac and filling half a dozen large bags, it no longer swallows the branches readily, so the blades have to be flipped to the fresh edge. A spare set of blades is good, but a little expensive ($90).

Having a fine grindstone and a proper sharpening guide makes the blades go a much longer way; or knowing someone who’ll do this for you. I rigged something up with my mini-lathe. The wrench provided for blade removal is of a soft metal and gets easily stripped if angled wrong; use your own if you’ve got it (6 mm).

To block the rotor for blade removal, there’s a little hole in the metal housing over the rotor; jam a screwdriver through it, through a rotor vane (gap without blade), and into the screw well just below it.

Not using this feature makes stripping the wrench even more likely (doh!). The bolt sockets for the wrench are very shallow and should be scraped clean before removal, again, to prevent stripping. I’ll likely get a spare set.

Overall, I like being able to produce my own wood chips for composting and mulching, on the spot.

The chipper jams repeatedly. I have to clear a jam every few minutes. A jam occurs when a branch becomes wedged between a cutting blade and the rotary plate, causing the chipper to stop. To clear a jam, I have to open up the chipper and remove the wedged branch.

Some the branches become so tightly wedged that removing it can take several minutes. I cannot reverse ( the Operator’s Manual recommends reversing the blades ) one of the cutting blades because the retaining bolt is “frozen” in place.

I suspect that I will have to use a screw extractor to remove it and then purchase a replacement bolt. Unfortunately, the bolts are currently “Out of Stock” on the snowjoe. com Website. Using this product is frustrating and aggravating.

I advise against spending your money on it.

I needed a wood chipper that was compact and not cumbersome! This wood chipper is an excellent chipper for the size. I wanted a wood chipper that was not too big. this is perfect for my needs! Most of the ones I have seen have been way too large and extremely expensive.

I needed one that would work for the branches, trees and such in my yard during the spring and fall months! A lot of limbs had fallen but not enough that I wanted to buy or rent a large wood chipper.

This wood chipper is great for our 1/2 acre size yard. I was able to shred all the extra limbs and leaves so that I can then use it as mulch for my garden and bedding for our chicken coop! For this sized wood chipper, it is very powerful and was able to handle all the limbs with no issues at all! This wood chipper is a nice and compact design so I can easily store it in my garden shed and it hardly takes up any space!!! Definitely recommended!!!!.

Wow I finally have my own wood chipper. Dreams do come true. Yes it is for smaller branches but it works. To save the life of the blades I recommend using freshly cut tree branches of the wood gets too hard for it to handle.

I just chopped half of my moringa tree and fed the branches through the chipper and now I can make my own mulch. My whole front yard is mulch so this is awesome.

The chipper malfunctioned during its first use. The blades sounded like they were scraping against metal. I had to disassemble it to find that one of the blades on the wheel was scraping against the back wall panel (see pics).

The machine wasn’t put together correctly before it was delivered to me. I took off the back panel to try and reset it. It took all my strength to pull the pins out and put them back together but after multiple work sessions of JUST pulling and pushing pins I was able to get the back panel adjusted.

The blade wasn’t scraping the back panel and I felt vindicated. I took it out for another spin (it took probably around 5 hrs to “fix” this problem) and there is now enough space bw the back panel and the battery that wood is collecting there.

It forces all those interconnected panels to shift and bend. So, the chipper broke again (same issue of blades hitting back wall) and this time all the panels are bent. CUSTOMER SERVICE IS USELESS, BEWARE! I called and they referred me to a dealer 2 1/2 hours away near NYC.

I live outside of Philadelphia, and it would cost nearly as much as a new chipper to ship this thing and have it returned. I’m upset and figured nobody else should be subjected to this torture. TOTAL RUN TIME: Maybe 5 hrs.

Pic 3 – If you look closely enough you can see wood has gotten underneath the bottom panel and has helped cause the other panels to warp. Pic 4 – The original problem. The bottom left scrap is where the blade was originally hitting the back panel.

Now, they all scrap the back panel. I guess I’ll be trying to repair this for the next week. Do yourself a favor and choose a different product/manufacturer.

The WC375 is exactly what I hoped it would be. Well built, powerful but compact. I have a 1 acre wooded lot with many oak trees that drop a lot of branches. This chipper is perfect for tidying up the lot each month.

Anything bigger than it can handle gets cut up for firewood anyway. With a sharp blade, it does a nice job of self-feeding most branches. The outlet chute is positioned well to dump chips in a wheel barrow.

There are cheaper imported chippers available so I can’t give it 5 stars for value and I knocked it down 1 star on features since it doesn’t include a tow bar (available separately, but why not include it for $1600+?).

Overall, I’m really impressed by this machine and glad I could find one built in the USA.

I own a farm and need a reliable chipper. I have had several others never working as expected leading to lots of disappointment and frustration. Decided to go all out and buy a high end USA made chipper, did my homework and found the Mighty Mac.

When I finally found the room in the budget I bought it. It works as described, starts each time first pull, has never had issues with stalling. Very happy with my purchase!.

I took a chance on this company and product after not seeing any product reviews. The price and size were right, so I made the purchase glad I did. The chipper was nicely shipped on a pallet – get the liftgate service as it is heavy.

The hopper was preassembled and the parts were all there, including gloves and protective goggles and earmuffs. There was an issue with the hopper installation as the holes did not line up. I was able to get this done after conferring with customer service and an engineer via phone call, just needed socket wrench, Phillips head screwdriver, and some muscle.

Also, the grip on the transport handle was installed upside down at the factory, which they will replace. I replaced an old 8hp Duerr commercial chipper/shredder, which was giving me fits before it gave up and literally fell apart.

Once I put gas and oil in the new Mighty Mac, a one-pull start made me almost cry with delight! I have used the machine now six times. It is easy to pull, one pull starts each time, the hopper is the perfect angle and width to receive bundles of branches, and the chips are uniform and a good size for using around my property.

All in all, I am very pleased so far. It isn’t quite, so make sure to always wear ear protection.
