HI bought this in April-May 2021. In less than a year, two bolts and nuts which connect the handle bar and the machine body were loosen. We’ve tried out best to put them back put the space was so small for any tools, and they’ve continuously come off!!! We hardly use it for 8 months for a very small yard (not use it at all from Nov ’21 – Feb -22) and now it is useless!!! These bolts and nuts were pre-installed already when the machine was delivered.
Greenworks should do a better job with quality controls. I’ve bought all Greenworks lawn mower/trimmer/leaf blower for one of my houses and will never ever buy this brand again in the future. Very frustrated.
Greenworks 80V System offers a range of commercial grade tools for the professionals and those who just want more power. This 21-inch cordless lawn mower features a durable steel deck, large 10-inch rear wheels, and Smart Cut load sensing technology.
Light weight and easy to use, it has a single lever height adjustment and 3-in-1 operation for mulching, bagging, and discharging. Designed for durability and heavy duty jobs, it features a brushless motor that delivers the power and performance of a 160cc gas engine.
With an extra battery on hand, you can now rip through grass in the neighborhood without the hassle of gas. Compatible batteries currently include a 2ah (model GBA80200) and 4ah (model GBA80400) battery and rapid charger (model GCH8040).
The 2ah battery charges within 30 minutes so you can get back to work and finish that job. The 4ah battery charges within 1 hour.
Simply check the oil each time and top off as needed, this system reduces maintenance time and having to dispose of old oil. True variable speed front wheel drive transmission will turn more easily around landscape features and obstacles.
Equipped with the TriAction cutting system, this system includes a rake bumper to lift grass upright, a specially designed blade for a finer mulch and a symmetrical deck for superior grass flow, eliminating clumping.
A rake bumper to lift grass upright, a specially designed blade for a finer mulch and a symmetrical deck for superior grass flow, eliminating clumping. 1. 9 bushel rear bag collects grass clippings for easy clean up or composting The TB210 self propelled mower comes with three options to dispose of grass clippings, including side discharge, mulch or rear bagging capabilities.
Side discharge chute comes with handy, built-in clip to attach to handle when not in use. Dual lever height adjusters for easy changes in cutting height (6 settings – 1. 25 In. to 3. 75 In. , plus a deck wash adapter to help clean the underside of the deck, helps you care for both your yard and your mower more easily.
Spent a good half hour looking to see if the bolt worked itself loose during shipping but everything was snug. Have cut my lawn 3 times since purchasing and everything seems good. Plenty of power and single pull starting every time so far.
Honda engine seems fairly fuel efficient. I am concerned about the self propelled drive unit being constructed entirely of plastic. Hope it holds up the inevitable bumps when mowing around fixed objects.
One other complaint was how low the drive control hangs from the main handle. It requires your other hand to engage the drive. With my previous mower single handed operation was no problem. I suppose this could be fixed with a couple of zip ties to hold the drive control closer to the lawnmower handle.
We got the lawn mower, read the manual, and mowed the lawn once. The push assist stopped working halfway through and it turns out the transmission died. We got that replaced under warranty, and it worked perfectly fine when we got it back.
The next time we went to use it, the engine wouldn’t start. New gas, new oil, clean everything, still won’t start. Fantastic product. Best part is, their user manual doesn’t tell you how to clean or check anything.
We recently bought the TB210 to replace a mower we’ve had for 20 years. Overall, the new mower is great. It cut well and evenly; the variable drive speed is a truly fantastic feature, and the ease of operation is out of this world.
However, there are a couple of things that could be improved upon, chief among these is the method of attachment for the engine cowling. Unlike other mowers, where the cowling is physically attached with screws, the cowling on the TB210 snaps into place.
In terms of ease of motor access this might be a desirable feature, but whenever the blade strikes a hidden object, i. e. an unseen rock or root, the cowling literally flies off the mower. As one might imagine this can be frustrating when one must stop mowing to reattach the cowling every time this type of event occurs.
Apart from this nuisance, the mower is fine, I just wish someone had put a little more forethought into the design and found a way to attach the cowling in a more permanent fashion.
Easily adjust the mower’s speed to your stride by rotating the speed adjust dial, then engaging the Select Drive control for intuitive, comfortable speed control. ‘s revolutionary Versamow System allows you to mulch, bag, discharge, and shred leaves, or even a combination of mulching and bagging by slide the convenient Clip Director knob to choose how much grass is bagged or mulched without the need of tools or costly attachments.
Exclusive twin blade MicroCut System uses four cutting surfaces that result in ultra fine clippings for superior mulching and more clippings per bag resulting in a perfect cut, less time emptying the bag, and less work for you.
21 in. deck is made of NeXite, a high impact resistant material that does not dent, rust, or corrode over time, to add durability to the mower. Easy-starting, fuel efficient, and powerful, GCV190 engines provides years of reliable service.
auto choke system offers easy starting without needing engine choke. Versamow System helps you to mulch or partially mulch even in severe conditions by adjusting the 10 position Clip Director to the right setting for your lawn.
Mow 30% farther before needing to empty the bag with smaller grass clipping to increase the amount in your bag. Convenient rear discharge door improves maneuverability, eliminating the need for a separate discharge chute attachment.
Quick release handle is easy to adjust to one of 3 positions for comfortable mowing, or to fold it over for a more compact storage. Large 9 in. ball bearing wheels offer better maneuverability, smoother drive, and increased durability.
7 position cutting height adjustments conveniently set the correct mowing height for lawn conditions. 2. 5 bushel large capacity grass bags are balanced so they are easy to empty, saving you time and effort.
Flywheel brake safety system quickly stops the engine when you let go of the brake lever.
Eliminate oil changes on the Troy-Bilt TB130 mower with the innovative Check, Don t Change system on the Troy-Bilt engine. Simply check the oil each time and top off as needed, reducing maintenance time and having to dispose of old oil.
With rear bag, mulch kit and side discharge options included, you have a choice for disposing of grass clippings. The 11 in. high rear wheels provide improved traction and maneuverability on hills and over rough spots in the lawn.
Dual-lever height adjusters are conveniently located to quickly adjust the cutting height and the TriAction cutting system uses a rake guard, symmetrical deck and specialized blade to deliver a clean, even cut every time.
I’ve had this mower for 8 years and it has been fantastic. I can crank it with one soft pull every time. I’ve cleaned the carb a few times, changed the plug a few times, and changed the oil every couple of years.
I have two blades I sharpen and swap back and forth. I live in Florida so it gets plenty of use. Even in the cooler months it works well to gather leaves and mulch.
Bought this in 2018 after yet another Briggs motor wore out. (Why do you use such a BAD motor?) Love the Honda engine, starts reliably, good torque, fairly quiet. One giant plus – the Briggs gas tank would not fill all the way up.
the Honda tank fills quietly all the way to the top with no issue. Briggs, you need to steal that design! The deck. ah, when they redesigned the deck from independent wheel adjusters to the one-front/one-rear design, they screwed up.
I guess this saved a bit of manufacturing cost but with two consequences: the lift of the grass does not work as well with the deck curve change, and by adding that plastic adjuster housing at the front, you can’t trim as closely.
For years I bough a new mower, transferred the relevant parts to the old deck I had, and made a good trimming mower out of it. Sadly, the old deck is gone. If you have the deck adjusted for longer grass length, the blade will not even lift dead leaves, the lift is so inefficient.
Color this decently effective for the price, but you won’t love it. Oh – and don’t expect a 21″ cut, you have to do a 50% overlap fto double cut the grass for a nice cut.
This mower was lighter than my previous one. That could be due to the plastic front end compared to my previous mower which was all metal. Only time will tell how well the plastic holds up. However, it does make the mower more maneuverable and very easy to turn and rotate.
The engine starts very easy in 1 or 2 pulls with the no-prime system. Sometimes I barely pull the cord and I’m surprised that it starts. It also seems to be just a bit quieter than my previous 18 year old mower.
I only use this as a mulcher and it does a fine job. There are no piles of grass built up anywhere and the lawn looks finished when I complete the mowing. I have also had to transport the assembled mower to a second location.
It is pretty straight forward for collapsing the handles and fit inside my car trunk easily.
The legendary reliability you’ve learned to expect from Honda is built right in this 21″ 170cc 3-in-1 RWD Push Mower. Every one of the HRN lawn mowers is engineered by Honda from the ground up, which means you can depend on every part from the powerful, easy-starting engines to the exclusive Twin Blade Advantage of the MicroCut System.
This Honda HRN216VKA model offers the Honda Adjustable, Variable Speed Smart Drive Control that lets you easily control the speed when resting your hands on the handlebars. Its GCV170cc engine has reliable, easy starting power to tackle the toughest mowing conditions.
This review may be a tad premature since I have only owned this mower for 3 days, but on the first day I ran it 6 hours straight in grass that hadn’t been cut in two months. The terrain is semi rough, and I went thru almost two full tanks of fuel.
I would like to start by saying the housing on the mower is thick and solid, a much better product than the thin decks that rust out in just a few years. Not having a side discharge is a benefit I hadn’t expected, it allows you to go in any direction without building up cuttings ahead of you.
I am also not accustomed to the one pull no prime/choke fuel system, but it doesn’t take long to love that. I have never been a fan of self propelled lawnmowers because they have only one speed, this new variable speed drive is a game changer in my opinion.
This mower performs more like a commercial walk behind, than a standard residential push mower. The control is located in a comfortable location for thumb use or palm, and has more speed than you need if you want a good workout while mowing.
I use mine without the bagger attachment set on mulch, and the double blade set up cuts everything into small pieces so it breaks down twice as fast. All in all so far I am very impressed in this mower, and I have been cutting grass for over 50 years.
If I have to complain about anything, I would like to see a wider cutting deck, maybe a 36″.
Basic residential use on 20,000sqft yard, moderate hills. I was interested to see how the dual blade feature might work and I am disappointed. This mower leaves blades standing, even at low speed. I frequently mow over the front and side yards twice to get the missed grasses.
I use a generous overlap to allow for the coverage but still have to do this. Starts great like every Honda small engine I have ever owned. Rear wheel drive can really move this mower but the thumb pushbar can get awkward with your other fingers as it swings toward them on the bar grip.
The height adjustment is really well designed. One adjuster per set of wheels, and only on one side, makes this really easy to adjust and ensure you aren’t off level. The switch between bagging and mulching modes is nice and it works.
I don’t have to pull clumps of macerated grass from the bagging chute afterwards. Overall this is a good mower for the price. The dual blade gimmick is not worth any extra dollars as it has not shown to be any more effective than a higher horsepower mower with one blade.
You can tell the 216 is lower power, but if you don’t need to mow a severely overgrown yard it will get the job done.
The HRX21K6VKA is a top performer. It’s Self-Propelled with Integrated Select Drive Speed Control for the ultimate in comfort, control and convenience. The HRX21K6VKA is designed with advanced features like Honda’s exclusive 21-in NeXite deck, Micro-Cut Twin Blade System and the 4-in-1 Versamow System with Clip Director – allowing you to mulch, bag, rear discharge or shred leaves without tools needed.
All of this, combined with Honda’s powerful GCV200 engine, this mower will provide reliable power for year’s to come.

Smart Cut Technology offers power-on-demand depending on the cutting height and lawn density for optimal cutting efficiency. DigiPro digital controlled brushless motor provides greater efficiency and higher performance.
I had pretty high expectations when ordering this mower and still, I was pleasantly surprised after using it the first time. It’s light, it’s comparatively quiet (vs. a gas mower) and I don’t have to deal with the stink and the hassle of gasoline and oil.
It was easy to set up right out of the box with minimal assembly needed. The design is well thought out (controls and adjustments are easy to use) and the quality seems excellent. Most importantly, the Greenworks Pro 80V does a fantastic job mowing my lawn – much better than the relatively new gas mower I replaced with it.
I’m especially impressed by how well it bags the mulch – I don’t even have to rake much anymore, as the mower takes up almost all the pecan leaves in my yard. Battery capacity is better than I expected too.
Plenty of juice to mow my small-ish back yard and large-ish front lawn with about 1/3 of the charge to spare. I couldn’t be happier with my purchase!.
The mower comes packaged well in the box and is easy to assemble. I assembled it by myself in about 15 minutes. It is very lightweight and easy to push, kind of like pushing a shopping cart. It does a very nice job cutting the grass and I was able to do a third of an acre on a single charge.
The mower is very quiet even on high power mode in longer grass. I deducted one star because the battery is a different size than the other 80 volt pro tool batteries that I already have, and also because the branding and information stickers on the mower are so thin that they appear wrinkled.
When I bought this mower I assumed incorrectly that I would be able to use the batteries from my snowblower and string trimmer and tiller, but that is not the case. Even so I like the mower and recommend it.
Bought the Pro 80v 21″lawn mower from Lowes last month. Read and follow the user manual instruction to get start. Have been using it every week to mow the lawn for the last 3 cut. Totally impressed. No gas needed, no loud noise, no bad smell, the cut is as good and as powerful as my old gas Honda mower.
So easy to handle the mower due to the light weight. It works really well either with or without using the self propelled function. I have less than 5000 sq. ft. of lawn. With one full battery charged, I can complete cutting the lawn from start to end.
Most importantly the stand up storage feature allowing me to save space in the garage as well as cleaning the underside of the mower easily. Hope this powerful engine will continue to last. My old mower is over 10 years and it can still run if needed.
The EGO Power+ 21 inch Select Cut self-propelled mower delivers performance that exceeds the power of gas. The Select Cut multi-blade cutting system is equipped with three, interchangeable lower blades the mulching blade, high lift bagging blade and extended runtime blade.
The mulching blade comes installed on the mower and is ideal for weekly mulching, giving you the mulching quality you would expect from a high-end gas lawn mower. The high lift bagging blade provides extra suction ideal for bagging, leaving your yard free of clippings.
The extended runtime blade provides an optimal balance of cut quality and runtime for all around performance. All three blades can be used interchangeably based on your desired cut. The EGO upper blade is used in combination with the lower blade chosen to slice the grass into fine fragments this greatly enhances cutting performance with all grass types.
I purchased Select Cut with 7. 5Ah battery as it was advertised to run 60 minutes, and my old self propelled gas mower took about an hour to get through my whole yard (it’s about 9500 sq feet. I have had the mower for a few weeks now, and am overall quite pleased with it.
It cuts well, I only notice a few blades here and there that it misses, and it does actually last about an hour. The first run I did was with the mulching blade installed, and I didn’t use the self propel feature.
I made it through the whole yard no problem. I then changed to the bagging blade as lawn care people fertilized everything, and my grass was quite deep and thick. I didn’t quite make it through the whole yard, but thanks to my purchase of an Ego String Trimmer, I just stole the 2Ah battery from it, and kept on going until I was done.
So nice to have this safety blanket. I still had enough juice in the smaller battery to finish my edging. Even if I didn’t, the battery charges quite quickly. Today, the grass was not as long, and extremely dry.
I decided to see how the self propel worked. It appears that both rear wheels are on a single axle, so turning while under self propulsion is a little difficult. Otherwise the self propel feature works wonderfully.
Easy to pick a comfortable speed with the handlebar knob adjuster. With bagging, self propulsion, and having to make about 5 stops to empty the bag (which holds WAY more than my old gas mower did), the battery was able to finish the yard with a little left to spare.
Actual run time was about 55 minutes. Certainly not the cheapest choice, but the mower is comfortable to use, the battery charges extremely fast, and whoever designed the single handle deck height adjustment lever is a hero.
The only minor issues are ones that I saw reported by other users. The self propel feature takes a second to kick in once you push the button, and takes a second to stop after you let go of the button.
After a little use, making the timing adjustment becomes second nature. The other oddity is when the back wheels lock up if you aren’t using self propulsion. Easy fix if you just pull it backward for a few inches to unlock whatever gets stuck.
I haven’t tried it in the dark yet with the headlights. Definitely need to do this though. simply because I can.
One of the best mowers out there! Good design, light weight, high torque, good battery life. Design is good with height adjustment from 1 inch to 4 inches in increments. This is good for more rough terrain so the blades dont clip any rocks.
The handle is adjustable to different angles for mowing comfort. After using a gas powered mower this mower is light, making it more maneuverable and easier to mow your lawn. The brushless motor is powerful, easily making a rough back yard into a manicured area.
The battery is a powerhouse. I used a previously purchased 5Ah battery before using the supplied 7. 5Ah battery. Just using the 5Ah battery I was able to mow our 0. 15 acre back yard without any problems or changing the battery.
Another great idea is the two blade mowing system. Great for really mulching the grass which leads me to the next feature. This mower is set up for either rear discharge, mulching or bagging with the included grass catcher.
I really like the powered rear wheels. This feature makes mowing up a hill much easier. I also like the way you adjust the speed of the powered – an adjustable speed wheel on the mower’s handle. Another a good feature is the LED lights on the deck.
Good for mowing at night. but who really mows their lawn at night unless your’e a commercial outfit. While the design, weight and power is great with this machine, there are a few draw backs. The rear flap between rear wheels is easily cut by the blades when the mower is pulled backwards.
Another concern is the wheels. While they look sturdy, they probably are but with a more rough terrain, they might not hold up. I’m hoping if they do fail there is a more sturdy alternative. The mower is packaged very well.
No bumps, scratches or nicks. However, I did not appreciate the redundant advertising that is really unnecessary that was attached to the mower. I’ve done my research and know what I wanted to purchase and the advertising in the mower section at Lowe’s was sufficient for me to make my choice.
But all the additional advertising that was on the machine was very wasteful and unnecessary. I hope the marketing team will realize this and make a change to more eco-friendly sustainable packaging.
This mower replaced a 5-year-old EGO and was purchased primarily to gain the self-propelled feature and a new battery. The old EGO it replaced (sold) had worked without problems giving me some faith in EGO reliability.
So far (two mowings) it’s my impression that the Select Cut two blade system does a slightly better job cutting the grass than my old EGO, maybe smaller clippings and more vacuum (I almost always bag the clippings).
Battery life has been at least an hour. The self-propelled feature is so far somewhat of a disappointment. It does not seem very user friendly to me. I am always engaging it accidentally due to the button placement (I will probably hopefully eventually adapt to this).
It should also be more easily speed-adjustable on the fly, like my old Personal Pace Toro gas mower. The drive system also sometimes does not want to disengage making manually pushing or pulling it require much more effort.
The worst part of purchasing this mower however, by far, was doing it through Lowes. I ordered it on-line and received it in a box that had been opened and then tapped shut (I found later that these boxes are glued not tapped shut at the factory).
I found that the grass clipping bag and the instruction manuals were missing. EGO service would not just send me the missing items, I had to make another 25-mile round trip to Lowes to get them. (This generated some anger in me, my apologies to the EGO service guy who was just following EGO policy.
) The service guy at Lowes first tried to give me a bag from another brand of mower and print the 175-page manual (forgetting the battery and charger manuals). When I pointed out that that the bag was not an EGO bag, he opened a glued shut box containing the exact same model EGO mower that I had purchased and took out the bag and manuals to give to me.
(Who will now get this box after they tape it shut?) Why I was not just given the unopened box to start with is beyond me, I doubt it just came in less than 24 hours after I had picked up the opened box.
I also doubt I will buy anything through Lowes on-line again.
The Worx 20″ – 40V Lawn Mower is a 3-in-1 mulcher / bagger / side-discharge mower that features the Nutricut dual-stage mulching system. Natural lawn fertilization is built right in to the design, so you can mulch whenever you want to.
The durable, steel cutting deck is dent-resistant, boasts premium mulching capabilities, and built to last. And at 20″ it’s wide enough so that it’ll take fewer passes to finish your lawn, but it’s still nimble enough to get in-between bushes and around landscaping features.
The 7-position, single-lever cutting height adjustment makes it easy to set the right height for the season or just your preference. This mower sports a fully-collapsible handle and a unique compact stand-up storage mode so it’s easy to put away in a corner or even on a shelf during the off-season.
Two 20V 4. 0Ah or 5. 0Ah batteries power this model (batteries not included). You can expect to mow up to ¼ acre on a single charge with this mower, depending on conditions and terrain, of course. The collection bag holds 1.
4 bushels and is easy to empty or remove for side-discharge. And the unit weighs 53. 6 lbs, which considering the rugged steel deck, isn’t too heavy.
I originally thought I would use a smaller push mower for trimming in places hard to get with my riding unit that has a large deck but is awkward getting in some areas with trees or other obstacles. I recently took a chance on ordering a Worx Nitro WG751.
3, a 20-inch push mower with bonus 4. 0 Ah batteries. I needed to replace a competitor’s brand unit that was a disappointment and I returned to the store after a couple tries using it in my 1/3-acre yard.
Although the other brand mower was only 16 inches, the unit lacked the power and duration to adequately handle the desired trim work of my relatively small yard. I thought I would try the Worx unit since I had already purchased the Worx weed trimmer and blower combination tool pack (June 2020), followed by a Worx Hedge trimmer, and last year a Worx chain saw.
All the previous Worx tools I have ordered have all performed well, and helped clearing out a 10” by 86’ patch of brush we wanted removed from the back yard. I see now I could have ordered the Worx push mower sooner, it has certainly exceeded my expectations thus far.
Even though I got it mostly for small trim areas, the bagger is nice for catching the grass clippings. The quality of cut is nice, the batteries have plenty of power to handle the yard, and the unit certainly is easy to set up and use.
The charger works well, I usually charge both sets of batteries the in the morning of a day I plan to use the mower, and it takes roughly an hour or so to charge each set. This mower has earned my approval, I would definitely purchase this unit again or recommend to a friend or family member.
I bought this mower at the beginning of the summer, had it for about 3 months now. If I do not use the bag the batteries do not last long enough to mow my front yard after one week of growth. It is not a very big yard.
When I do use the bag I have to empty it on every return trip or the mower starts stalling. I have to empty the bag 13-15 times per mow. It will fill to about 1/10th of the bag capacity before the mower starts to slow down.
I can leave the plastic piece in so that it mulches all the grass, but this causes it to die halfway through the front yard, again, not a very big yard. I suspect this is because the blade does not spin with enough force to keep the cut grass in the bag because of the angle the bag sits at.
It also has a tendency to get stuck on small bumps and valleys because of the plastic piece in the front where the front wheels are. I am glad that I do not have to worry about getting gas or the environmental impact of mowing my grass anymore, however, since the mower is an inconvenience to use on even a small yard I cannot recommend it to anyone.
Also, I am 6’2, the handle is not adjustable to make it easier for taller people to use. I grow tired of products being made for short people when being taller than 6′ is no longer abnormal.
I rarely leave reviews for things, but I feel that this warranted one. I am on my second Worx lawn mower. After the first one arrived, I took it out of the box and the wheel promptly fell off. It was missing the pressure fit lug nut keeping the wheel on.
So I went through the process to RMA it and get a replacement. So this review is (primarily) dealing with the replacement unit. That being said, I used to recommend Worx products to anyone that would listen, but I will no longer be doing so.
This lawn mower has something in it backwards, resulting in the lawn mower blade only being able to be installed in the position where the sharp cutting end is not spinning towards the grass being cut.
This then means that any time I push the mower into some grass, the “hook” side of the blade gets caught on any little bit, the entire mower freezes up, and shuts off. I also burn through batteries like crazy (I went through 3 sets of batteries over the span of a half hour).
So ultimately, if you’re looking to beat the grass to the height you want this mower will work great. But if you’re wanting to cut it, this will not do it. I am extremely disappointed in this mower.

I have owned this mower for 4 years. It is an absolute juggernaut! 7. 25 horse (163 CC) is pumping out beast power scaring tall grass and making it cry! But the walk at your own pace set up the drive so you don’t have to run behind or chase the machine.
My wife got the electric start option as she always had problems pull starting the old mower. This one has a pull start, but has to be there for decoration purposes, I have never used it. The battery has only been charged at the beginning of every year.
With the engine power wet grass isn’t an issue! Use the chute to discharge it out side, and keep kicking. After a season and the grass has waived the white flag, Take the chute off and make those fall leaves whimper! Grinds them up and is perfect food for your lawns winter nap.
Yeah, my dad’s mower was a 3. 5 HP, dad would have loved the power in this monster!.
Bought this mower from Home Depot in March of 2021 as a hold over from the previous year. It had fairly good reviews online and I was able to negotiate price as it was a “leftover” that had been shelved.
The first time I mowed with it the grass hadn’t thickened up yet but the mower kept bogging down. At the time I just figured it needed broke in or the carb was sticking from sitting for a year shelved.
Roughly two months later, weekly grass cutting using fresh fuel treated with a stabilizer and after running a carb cleaner through it and it seems it’s only getting worse. I like to mulch the grass to add the nutrients back to the soil without having large clumps or strips common with side discharging but this “Super Recycler” is just under powered.
I have to mow on the highest setting and can only use about half the 22” cut (only cut about a 12” strip of grass at a time) to keep it from stalling. Even then it still bogs down and I have to tip the mower back to allow it to clear any grass clippings.
Recently I noticed it’s starting to smoke quite a bit too…runs great at idle, looks fantastic, but as for performing under a load it fails spectacularly. I wish I could return it for a Honda but HD only allows 30 day returns on mowers.
This is by far the best lawnmower I have ever purchased. The quality of product is top notch and it has a Briggs & Stratton engine which starts 1st time every time. First time I have ever used a front wheel self propelled mower and this one is so easy to use once you have done the first 2 or 3 passes you get used to it.
One of the reasons I got this was because my last mower did a terrible job of mulching leaves, it threw more out than it mulched. This Toro does an excellent job of mulching grass and leaves. It has plenty of height adjustment and is easy to change, best part about this mower is how you can store it.
Just fold handle and lock in place then lift it up onto it’s end, no gas or oil leaks out while stored like this. It’s the most money I have ever paid for a mower but well worth every cent.
The Recycler with SMARTSTOW the first-of-its-kind, space-saving mower with proven durability, reliability and superior quality of cut. SMARTSTOW allows the mower to be stored upright, reducing the storage footprint by up to 70%*.
It also provides easier access for you to clean the under-deck and service the blade. Dimensions in upright storage position are 39″ H x 23. 2″ W x 17. 5″ D. This mower is powered by a 7. 25 ft-lb Gross Torque Briggs & Stratton EXi 163cc w/Ready Start w/Just Check & Add engine and features convenient variable speed self-propel and front wheel drive which allows for smooth maneuvering around complex landscaping and obstacles.
The 3-in-1 mowing system – bagging, mulching and side discharge capabilities giving you the flexible performance in all mowing conditions.
Had to take backthe first one as even a slight incline would shut it down. Got the second and all was good till it refused to start. Thought it was the carb. Had a 3 week period during late summer where it sat idle.
When I tried to start, nothing. Took apart the carb think maybe trash got in, cleaned in, but didn’t see anything. Put the same gas back in, and it ran fine fir two mows. Sat idle for another week and wouldn’t run again, cleaned again but would only run for a few seconds and quit.
Took it to a place toro had listed in case it needed warranty repair. The shop said they should not have been on the list anymore, but they took a look at it for me. Only charged $16 but said water in the carb.
Same gas (87, less than 10% ethanol ad the manual says) from the same can that currently runs in a riding mower, and mixed for a weed trimmer, leaf blower, and chain saw that all still run fine. But seemes to be working for now.
Moisture getting in to the tank? The gas lid has never really felt very tight on the tank with only something like a quarter to half turn to tighten it.
I am happy with the features and performance of this mower so far, but I am frustrated with the lack of important information in the Quick Start Guide. My frustration comes from the fact that the Quick Start Guide does not indicate the amount of oil that should be added to the engine before first use.
I would say it is even misleading because it shows a bottle of oil being poured in and the bottle of oil contains 32 oz. There is no indication that the capacity of the engine is only 15oz. It is very difficult to see the oil level on the dipstick when the oil is completely clean.
Why does Toro supply a quart of oil without indicating you should only use less than half of it? I don’t see anything in the QSG that suggests you don’t use the full bottle of oil. So, I think Toro needs to fix this as soon as possible to prevent inadvertently overfilling the engine with oil.
This lawnmower was barely a year old and already broke. It worked fine the first 4 or 5 times I used it then it started having trouble idling. I managed to get through a few more mows before it finally conked out in the middle of one.
THAT was just the beginning of my problems. I did some routine maintenance and tried to pull start it and the pull cord broke! So I called my repairman who came over and fixed the cord – $65. But he could not get the mower to start and idle.
So he cleaned out the carb and still no luck. So he had to order a new carb and replace the old one. ONE YEAR! That’s how old this mower was. He did some research and Toro is using plastic parts now and a tube where the gas moves tends to get clogged quite easily now.
So another $130 later and its fixed. So this mower cost about $335 and I am already in the hole $200 in repairs in just a year.
Get solid, strong performance and plenty of power for your mowing needs with the 42″ 17 HP Kohler 7-Speed riding lawn tractor. Tested for reliable starting in all weather conditions, the Kohler engine with AutoChoke runs smoothly and efficiently.
The 42-in cutting deck delivers a clean, even cut and you can easily adjust the mowing speed with 7-speed Shift-on-the-Go transmission.
After 27 yrs my Craftsman mower had to be replaced. I liked the look of the this mower as well as its many features, and am counting on this choice to last as long. After a month I am quite satisfied.
This is a well built machine that rides well and cuts evenly without scalping high spots. The deck cleaning attachment ( extra on this model ) is very handy and seems to do a good job when used right after mowing.
The only negative point so far is the rather awkward procedure used to reverse when mowing. Also, the manual provided is the bare minimum information required to maintain a machine of the complexity.
We have had this mower 5 days… that’s how long it took to get it running …. At all! We have not had a chance to cut much grass yet, the mower kept stalling out, sputtering and spewing foul smelling smoke.
A neighbor came over last night, had to spend close to an hour tinkering with the throttle to make it run correctly. Then, it sounded and ran beautifully. I look forward to cutting grass on the weekend.
I got it put together & it started but after a couple minutes it started smoking, sputtered & stalled out. I had to have my handyman who has a lawn care business take it apart & put it back together.
There is a spring on the carburetor that doesn’t attach properly – when it comes loose it doesn’t work properly. He had to rig it up so it doesn’t come loose. This mower also sucks gas like a pig. I have 4 houses to mow.
Should have gone for a few more bucks & got a zero turn mower.

Ever. This mower is built with reliable, commercial-grade features including the semi-pneumatic tires, greaseable rear pivot arms and commercial wheel clutches.
I’ve been using a personal pace since they’ve been offered. Bought the super recycler in May and couldn’t be more satisfied. Seems they had us old codgers( I’m 75) in mind when they made this one. It’s light and easy to maneuver.
Not a fan of the mulch/ bagger plug but I mulch 80 to 90 percent of the time. I’ve been pleased with my recyclers, but this mower takes it to another level! The warranty is a full five years on this machine.
I had to have the rear wheels adjusted because they pulled back hard and the mower was fixed and returned when promised. Cost $0. 00. Thanks Weingartz & Toro. The ez storage system and the wash plug add to the convenience of this product.
This mower definitely deserves checking out if you’re looking for a high performing, premium walk behind.
I purchased this mower yesterday from my local Tractor Supply since no other store close by had it in stock. I read all of the reviews I could find online about the mower and overall they were all positive so I thought I would give this one a try.
I have just returned one of the new 2021 Recyclers due to what I think will be an issue with these mowers going forward. I added the oil and checked the level and added some gas. First thing I noticed it as soon as it started up a bunch of smoke came out of the exhaust.
I let it run for a while and eventually the smoking stopped. I engaged the personal pace and going forward was nice and I enjoyed the flex handle. When I tried to go backwards, the wheels were locked up and would not roll backwards.
I tried pushing it forward some then back and still wheels locked up. I then tried to adjust the personal pace cable and it worked for a while, then wheels would lock up again. The only way to get the wheels to pull backwards where they would roll freely was to loosen the cable so loose that the forward pace was super slow.
I know these mowers are made in Mexico which is fine by me, but wondering why they are not tested before they are boxed up? Being a manufacturing manager myself, it would be easy to set up a QC station at the end of the line before the mowers are boxed.
I would also suggest to Toro to mark the cable jacket with a sharpie to show exactly where the ideal spot is when inserting into the cable bracket. If I am going to be picky, there are also blemishes in the casting of the deck and the lettering on this deck.
Some else that should be addressed on final QC. Right now I am not sure if I will keep the mower, return to Tractor Supply of take to my local dealer and see if they can resolve the issue. I will update my review later when and if this issue is resolved.
I bought this early this summer and am impressed with how well it mulches and evenly cuts. About midway thru the season, I noticed it seemed to hesitate just for a moment – noticeable by the sound of the engine, not thru any performance issue – like it was cutting out for just a portion of a second.
I eventually took it to a certified Toro repair facility and they had received a bulletin or had talked with Toro regarding this same issue with another customer. TORO sent the mechanic what I would call a sponge to put in the gas tank to prevent the gas from sloshing around in the tank (the theory being that it was getting air in the fuel line I guess).
It did seem to help a bit (not sure it is a 100% better), but it is better. It does make it more difficult to fill with gas (can’t easily see how much gas is in it and you have to go slow or you can easily overfill it).
Thye season is over now, so will see how it does in the spring.
Honda HRX217VYA Self Propelled Variable Speed MowerHonda’s revolutionary Versamow System allows you to mulch, bag, discharge, and shred leaves – or even a combination of mulching and bagging! Just slide the convenient Clip Director knob to choose how much grass is bagged or mulched.
No tools or costly attachments are needed. It’s the ultimate in convenience and versatility.
I had a Husqvarna 775BCC mower and I thought it was great. It died after about 9 years and I read the reviews and this Honda model stood out in several of the “Best Mowers of 2022,” reviews. So, I bit the bullet (it was $400 more than I spent on my Husqvarna) and bout it after surprisingly finding it at a Lowes store that said there were no more in stock when I checked online.
Super easy to set up after unboxing and I was mowing my lawn in about 30 minutes after arriving home. The grass hadn’t been cut in three weeks and was thick! I had anticipated cutting it twice, but when I started cutting, I realized ONE PASS would do this job with this mower.
The engine is powerful and cuts the grass beautifully. The newly cut grass stands up straight. It is also much more quiet than my previous mower. At first, I thought it wouldn’t be as powerful when I started it but it was VERY powerful.
The mower is also much lighter in weight than my old mower and is much easier to maneuver. I did read in some reviews that it was difficult to go uphill, but I have a good size slope in my back yard and the mower had no problems or slippage going up the hill.
The select drive control is amazing. When you realize that you don’t have to constantly keep it at one speed throughout your cutting, it is a great tool to have. I changed it for the flat portion and the hill of my back yard and it was perfect.
My back yard also has more moisture, so I put the clip director knob to mostly bagging the back yard, but mostly mulching my dryer, front yard. The bag is also larger than most and the mower packs the bag quite well.
So you don’t have to empty the bag when it is half-full because the clippings are backing up into the mower. The Roto Stop button is also quite nice for when you do empty the bag and you don’t have to turn off the mower.
It also came in handy when I finished my back yard, and left the mower running while I went inside the house to have a glass of water without having to turn off the mower. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this mower to anybody.
My yard is 1/2 acre and I mowed it all in just over an hour. It made me realize that my previous Husqvarna was not as great as I thought it was and how enjoyable it is to mow my lawn. My grass looks better than most neighbors who hired landscapers to cut their lawn.
Do yourself a favor and ignore the hight price tag, and just buy this mower. After your first cutting, you won’t have any buyers remorse!.
Let me start with I rarely, if ever, give anything 5 stars. That’s completely reserved for things that are above and beyond what I expect. I’ve only used it once, but I’m impressed with what I’ve seen thus far.
It’s easy to set up, starts on the 1st pull, has a very strong engine and cuts very cleanly. The self propelled function – this has to be the best one I’ve seen in a mower yet. I walk pretty fast (normal walking pace is about 4mph) so I set the control for max.
When I pressed the lever to max the machine almost jumped away from me! I ended up having the varble speed setting for about 1/3 of max and only have to bottom the control when the grass gets really thick and heavy.
I was seeing really good things about this mower when I was shopping for it and I now know why. The only thing that would make this mower better would be to have 1 lever adjustment for the front and rear wheels, which I have seen on other Honda products.
But that isn’t enough to drop this one to 4 stars.
Bought this mower, our second Honda, after careful consideration. The last Honda gave us a decade and had to be replaced after someone let it run out of oil. Oops. The last one did not have the ability to run un-attended without the blades turning.
So my question was is that feature worth $100? So far (first mow yeasterday) I’d say yes. A couple reasons. It’s easier to start than my last mower as you’re not starting the engine and blade. Next it’s easier to mow the lawn now that I can let go of the lever and stop the blade.
But the motor keeps running. So when the bag is full, I jst stop the bade and dump the clippings. But when I put the bag back on, I don’t have to start it up again. Just press the yellow button, then pull back the lever.
Really slick. Mowing along and there’s a tree branch in your way? Just let go of the lever toss the tree brach in the woods and do the two-step prcoess and keep mowing; no re-start needed. Read some other reviews that say Hondas don’t excel at picking up leaves.
Not true for me. My back yard had grwon up after a recent fertilization and had a lot of oak and other leaves on it. Can’t get over how good it looks after the first mow with our new HRX217VYA (Mama).
Defined cutting lines, no visible missed blades showing, and most leaves now in the woods with grass clippings. Wanted to also tell any Florida buyers that the tall wheels are a must-have. A lot of us have St.
Augustine/Floritam sod. This grass needs to be cut high. These high wheel Hondas have adjustments from 1 to 4 with half settings in-between. I set all my wheels at 3. 5, which corresponds to about 3 1/2 inches.
No way could you cut that high with low wheels. So MAMA rocks. Easy to start, love the way it “drives”, cuts great, bag system fits perfectly and is easy to remove. Just an excellent mower. Now if someone can just remember to check the oil.
Toro Super Recycler Walk Behind Lawn Mower 21387 utilizes a 8. 75 ft-lb Gross Torque Briggs & Stratton EXi 190 cc engine and 21-inch cutting deck to cut wet, thick grass with ease. The cast frame and rust-proof aluminum deck are engineered for superior mulching, bagging and side-discharge performance.
Keep thatch buildup to a minimum with a high-capacity 2. 1-bushel bag. Designed with electric start, simply push a button and you’re ready to mow. Toro’s Super Recycler Cutting System shaves down clippings into a fine mulch so you can fertilize your lawn while you mow.
The exclusive Personal Pace Self-Propel System senses and adjusts to your walking pace up to 4. 8 mph. Glide over holes and bumps with ease with Toro’s FLEX Handle suspension. This mower offers hassle-free maintenance, meaning no oil change.
Ever. Built with reliable, commercial-grade features, the 21387 also features semi-pneumatic tires, greaseable rear pivot arms and commercial wheel clutches.
Pros & Cons This is my end of first season review, after approx 5 months of use. My previous recycling/muiching mower was a John Deere. ( loved it!!) PROS: The electric start is nice especially when my right arm & shoulder pain is flaring up.
I do use the pull cord at times too. The bigger motor is great when the grass is heavy and maybe a little damp. The personal pace speed control works very well. Changing from bagger to mulching is easy enough.
I like the smart stow function and the easy to adjust / change handle set up It mulches nicely going forward, poorly if pulled backwards ( My JD mulched the same forward or backwards, which was very nice!) CONS: It NEVER starts with only 1 or 2 pulls unless its already been running.
First start of the day is horrible. 4,5,6 pulls is common and extended cranking time is using the electric start cannot be good for the starting motor or its life expectancy. Often, at the end of a cutting run when using the self propelled function, it is very hard to manually pull it back.
Sometimes the rear drive wheels slide on the grass. When bagging grass and leaves this fall, it is horrible to get the grass/leaves out of the bag. You have to reach into the bag and pull everything out.
Hard to do when you want to empty into paper ward waste bags. If you stop cutting before the bag is about 1/2 full, it is easier to simply shake out the contents, but also means much more starts & stops and takes longer.
The bigger motor is definitely harder on fuel, but I knew it would be. BTW. there is no such thing as “Guaranteed to Start” warranty! They always blame the spark plug, carburetor or gasoline as the issue and cite lack of maintenance.
even when beand new. One would expect a $900 lawnmower to at least start easily, as advertised.
Very nice looking machine! Love the stow-away option especially for changing blades and cleaning the deck. I didnt need the electric start but decided to get it more so for my wife. Now that i have used it, i really like it especially when it’s hot out.
When you’re sweating and tired and need to stop do something and then start it again, its just one of those small things I’ve really appreciated. It cuts like a champ and recycles like you would expect from a Super Recycler! I wanted the Toro with Honda engine but there is NONE out there! I called well over 25 places and there were only Briggs engines.
Based on a few comments out there, I decided to go with the 190 cc Briggs thus the 21387. A small concern is the engine kind of sputtering a bit once in awhile when mowing. Nothing major or anything that affects the ability to mow but kind of wondering about that.
Also noticed that one or two of the wheels have a lump or something that makes the mower not roll smoothly across the driveway. Haven’t looked into it further as when you’re mowing the lawn you don’t notice it.
All in all I am happy so far. With proper maintenance and oil changes, I am hoping for another 10-15 yrs as I did from my previous Super Recycler with Briggs engine. If you only plan on having this mower 3-5 yrs and then throwing it away, then dont change the oil (as they suggest)!.
I recently purchased a Model 21387 Personal Pace Super Recycler gas mower. The Personal Pace, adjustable Flex handle, and side-discharge features are what I wanted as an older fellow who knows that side-discharge is getting to be hard to come by, and the handle suspension frame actually adjusts for shorter folk, and thankfully, truly lowers impact on my overworked and often painful arms, wrists, and fingers.
A more powerful engine, under deck cleaning water hose port, and electric start just adds to my satisfaction. I purchased from a long time local dealer after looking at over a dozen mowers at other brand sellers and also big box retailers.
I was going to purchase electric but couldn’t get this exact mower in its high amp hour model in Toro due to sourcing problems. I don’t mind. Less gas to run this versus my older Honda and Husqvarna mowers, and those don’t have the lightweight cast aluminum deck.
Well done Toro! I’m very happy with this purchase. The 5-year warranty is a bonus. Mowing isn’t as physically painful now, and the mulching outcome is grand. I’m staying with Toro, for sure.
The Toro Recycler series is a patented cutting technology that brings an innovative mulching technique that make your clippings ultra-fine to provide moisture and nutrients that feed back into your lawn.
Save time, finish faster and make your job easier with Toro’s 21 in. Raise your expectations with this easy-to-start, easy-to-use, and easy-to-maintain mower. It’s ready when you are, as it starts the first time, every time.
And as a Toro owner, you’ll have access to nearly 4,000 servicing dealers across the U. S. and Canada ready to assist you. Count on it.
I tried 2 other Toro lawn mowers, all Electric Battery, Smartstow & self -propelled and returned them but I have to say I’m more satisfied with this mower than the others. Prior to buying the 60V mower(s) I owned a gas model of the Toro that lasted a good 7 years but getting older, I wanted something easier to use and trust me when I say, (write) that this 21″ (53cm) 60V MAX* Electric Battery SMARTSTOW® Self-Propel High Wheel Mower (21356) is exactly that.
It’s light weight at about 65lbs, too. I really like that there are only 2 levers to adjust the deck height and it maneuvers quite well as long as you read the directions, especially when it comes to turning or pulling the mower backward.
It often leaves clippings trails but I deal with that with a blower. What I don’t like about it is within 2 months of usage, the shield-trailing part ripped off on one side so I had to remove. I tried to get a replacement from an authorized Toro dealer where I was told they could order it for me, but I would think it’s a warranty part and just be sent a new one.
The other problem I have is once I fold the mower to store or clean, moving it around is cumbersome because the ‘standing legs’ are in the way. Maybe someone can engineer a better way so moving it around could be easier.
I can move it around but it’s not as easy as, say, cutting the grass with this mower. There’s no way this mower cuts as well as a gas mower but the advantages far outweigh that. No more gas, oil or spark plugs to contend with.
Mind you, I don’t believe the electric battery cars are the solution to any environmental so called problems, but these smaller tools make a world of difference to me, and I believe you would feel the same if you owned one.
About me – I’m a fat & ugly 67 yr old woman who does as much work as I can inside and outside my home. I’m also honest.
I’m 65 and still enjoy mowing my lawn. Its good exercise. I’ve used Toro products on or off (mostly on) for almost 50 years! This is pretty much the end of my mowing season on our first year lawn. Our lawn gets mowed about every 3-4 days.
This past spring I purchased the 60v Max 6ah version due to our smaller lot. I’ve come to realize I should have stepped up to the 7ah battery or the 30″ Timemaster. Our lawn is about 4,000sq ft (which I thought the Timemaster would be overkill).
The 6ah battery runs out before I can finish the lawn. Good thing for me I also purchased a Flex Force trimmer with a 2ah battery. I have to swap batteries to finish my lawn. I would expect the battery to last for 4,000sq ft seeing how it’s advertised for less than 1/2 an acre.
Now, maybe it’s my fault. I go at a more slower pace to do a decent job which my neighbors will attest to. It may be due to me being a lawn nut. I’m also the guy who cleans and washes the mower every other time it’s used also.
The mower also seems to have issues with bagging. When the bag is about half full the chute starts to clog. I’m no engineer, but this seems to be a “not enough power” issue. I am also fully aware of only cutting no more than 1/3 of the height of the grass at one time.
Several times this summer I’ve mowed a day or two later to even out the cut. The safety flap at the rear of the mower is starting to tear on the left side. That’s enough about the bad stuff. What do I like about the 60v Flex Force? The weight of the mower is fantastic.
It’s by far the easiest mower I’ve owned to push around. There are NO oil changes! Storage in the garage is a huge plus as well. It folds up easily and has a small footprint. I would recommend this mower to someone with a small, maybe, city lot or someone who is not “into” there lawn as much as myself.
Toro! If you read this I would gladly exchange this (me paying the difference of course) toward a 30″ Timemaster for next season.
I bought this mower last spring as I wanted to be done with the gas, maintenance and carbon footprint of a traditional gas mower. I have a small yard, 1/6 of an acre, and have had no problem mowing the whole yard.
The power has also been fine and it does have the ability to rev up to handle challenging spots. Where if fails and fails pretty badly, is both mulching and bagging either grass or leaves. I do have a thicker yard with Bermuda, but mow weekly to keep up with it.
What happens is consistent even where the grass is a little thinner—it just doesn’t circulate the grass (or leaf) clippings enough to chop them up, even if you move slowly. Most of my yard I have to pass over 2-4 times before it’s adequately copped to not leave clumps on top.
I wish I could give it a better review b/c it does do a good job on battery life for smaller yards and seems to have decent power to cut through thick grass, just not without leaving loads of clumps of grass or leaves if your trying to pick up leaves in the fall.
If you try to bag instead of mulch, the same problem stymies the bagging; the grass or leaves aren’t chopped enough to blow into the bag, so they tend to enter and stay put, meaning they aren’t blowing all the way to the back of the bag to fill from the back forward.
They just fill a little bit and then start clogging the chute as though it were full. Really wish I could give this back to Toro for a discount on one of their newer models, as it sounds like they’ve introduced some modifications to help with this fatal flaw.
