20 Best Ladies Fairway Woods For High Handicappers (2023 Updated)

I have been a 15 hcp for years due to not being able to keep a driver in play. My driver swing speed is 98-103 typically. Iron play and putting are fine, strokes gained analysis showed what I knew- I’m a 25 hcp off the tee and a 5 hcp after the tee shot.

My last “few” drivers were. Titlest 813- when I hit the sweet spot, ball was hammered, out to 270 yds, but yardage greatly dropped on off center hits- which are my norm. Ping G400- Very forgiving and a huge improvement over the 813, but I was giving up yardage-quite a bit.

Gamed it got almost 3 years, then in the quest for more distance, off to the. Sim 2- much better distance, but I think poorly fitted shaft for my swing- I had no control over the club face. Sometimes open, sometimes closed, sometimes square.

I switched shafts with another who had the Rouge shaft and it was much straighter. Went to get fitted for a new shaft, but hit the Stealth plus and couldn’t go back. So now. Stealth Plus 9 degree with the stock Rouge shaft in stiff, 1/2” shorter than standard.

I hit all but 1 fairway first round I played. Drives were 255-260 typically and a VERY tight dispersion. Longest drive 283. My playing partners were in awe especially from ME being the one doing that- it’s not my MO.

The club head speed is up about 2 mph, ball speed is up about 3mph. Mishits don’t hurt much. I have found driving Nirvana.

These irons are really easy to hit. They replaced 20-something-year-old irons that I kinda liked but I wanted improved accuracy. The first thing you notice is good feel at impact. The next thing you notice is MUCH improved loft.

And then of course you will notice the improved distance and forgiveness and accuracy. I probably have gained 5-10 yards on most shots with many more straight, high balls. You can’t go wrong at this price point.

I just started getting into golf again after a 24 year hiatus. The last TaylorMade club I owned was the Tour Burner Plus 95° that I acquired way back in the 1980’s. I was not prepared for what I experienced with my new SIM2 Max.

This is an amazing driver and the fact that you can now adjust the loft and other settings is simply amazing. I’ve only taken it out to the range two times but I am already hooked. I’ll be out on the course in a couple of days and I can’t wait to try it in real action.

I am already confident with this club as I find it easy to hit my shallow draw and I can easily get a fade if I need it. This is a great driver that is easy to hit and gives you plenty of power off the tee.

I have struggled with coming-over-the-top with the driver since picking up a golf club 20 years ago. I have been using the M6 with better success for a few years but decided that maybe a newer draw biased driver (and 9 degree rather than 12 degree) would result in more consistent fairways hit.

Received my Sim2 MaxD just before Christmas and took it to the range 3 times since. 100 drives —- 100 perfect, beautiful, drawing, and long drives. It may also be the heavier back weight and lighter shaft combo that cured my OTD.

Club is winner! I’ll be living in the high 70s / low 80s for sure with this driver.

I bought this driver after years of fighting excessive ball spin associated with inability to square clubface at impact on every swing. This club definitely controls excessive ball spin on miss hits, while indirectly resolving any “banana” trajectory of the ball flight and subsequent right-hand roll of the ball, providing a more left-turn or straight roll of the ball once on the ground.

Perfect hits (properly squared at impact) have resulted in additional 20 yards of distance to my drives. I truly LOVE this club. This club is definitely made for the high handicapper (I routinely score 95-100).

I already have had two rounds of 89 with use of the Big Bertha B21. My miss hits are now slightly off right-hand side of fairway instead of in adjacent fairway or woods. I am very satisfied; my new Big Bertha B21 Driver provides drives that are 20 yards longer by controlling excessive spin and slice trajectory while it provides tee box confidence required by high handicapper golfers.

I have waited until I used this driver for at least 10 rounds before writing a review. It’s a simple but effective driver. I had just 2 drivers for the last 15 years or so. One was the Big Bertha 460 9.

5 degree The other was the TaylorMade M 2 9. 5 degree Both were awesome and regular flex shafts. The reason for the change this year was because for what ever reason. The M 2 seemed to hit it expiration date.

late last season So earlier this year I went through 3 drivers trying to get back what I’m used to. They were The Callaway Epic 9. 0 degree. Regular flex The 2nd was the Ping 410 max 10. 5 Regular flex And the last was the TaylorMade Sim Max 2 9.

0 degree Why did I try so many. ?? They ALL produced a slice I NEVER had. All I wanted was a driver that didn’t have all this UNNECESSARY technology. Don’t know what brought me back to the Big Bertha but I’m glad.

It’s a great designed driver that looks like one should. But what’s better. It is forgiving and true off the tee. When you hit it soild you feel it and know it. That slice the others produced. Gone. A pro I know suggested to try it as well.

He explained some other things about the others that made sense. It looks and feels great. I normally hit the 9. 5 degree loft. But this 10. 5 is something. I haven’t nor do I plan on it as of now To turn it down to a 9.

5. I’ve got some drives 20 to 25 yards past my best drives. If you’re some one who doesn’t need all the hype about technology that doesn’t matter to us weekend warriors lol This is the driver you should give a look.

Don’t know why I didn’t see it in the beginning. But I’m glad I got it. I did switch the shaft that came with it. And now have a Fujikura Ventus 5 regular shaft and a mid size Golf Pride grip.

I liked this club right from the start. Even with no practice it has preformed above my expectations. So much hype about clubs that seem to be able to preform miraculous shots out there and granted what works for one may be a bust for another this club is well engineered and for me actually is very easy to stroke and I’ve been playing for a long time now.

I currently have a XXIO driver and 5 wood-11 series. I purchased a new XXIO-12 3 wood, and it’s by far the best wood in the bag. It lives up to XXIO’s information about hitting the sweet spot much more often.

It truly is an “almost” never miss club, truly remarkable. I would recommend this XXIO “12” series to anyone who is looking to improve their game. As with all XXIO products, ben lazy, and swing easy and let the club work for you!.

Added the Sim2 5 metal wood to my Taylormade line-up of clubs. I have the Sim driver, three wood and 3 Hybrid. My irons are P790’s with Taylormade 54-58 degree wedges, TP putter. Play the Taylormade TP 5 ball.

The club helped make up added distance since at 67 years of age, the Sim 3 Hybrid lost distance. Losing distance is an age thing, if you didn’t know. But the way the ball feels leaving the club head says a lot about the club.

Shot the best round of the year, 68 the other day. Glad I added this club. Glad the Sim2 was still available. Great product, great service from Taylormade.

As a gear junkie I am giddy about this driver. I am coming from the Rad Speed XB which I still really enjoy. I am most surprised by the feel of the LS. It’s fantastic. I was looking for something with a little less spin.

While I can still hit 3,600 rpm of backspin if I try, it’s much easier to hit a drive with 2,000 rpm of backspin with the LS without it being a duck hook. I have also gained a little bit of club head speed because of the shape.

The LS is also surprisingly forgiving. The Smoke IM10 is great with this head. A+.

I don’t typically write reviews. But since I’ve been peppered with emails, ask and you shall receive. The club is fantastic. Love it so much, I’ve ordered the 4 & 5 hybrids as well. I’m a 12 handicap, and mid/long iron play is certainly the weakest part of my game.

I believe these hybrids will be significant in getting me into single digits for my handicap. Now that you have my plug, here’s my issue. I’m left handed. It is INCREDIBLY frustrating to have to order my clubs custom, just to get the STOCK Shaft, and STOCK Loft/s that are available in the same clubs that are right handed.

I get it from a Manufacturing and Inventory standpoint. However, it is no less frustrating. I would have preferred to order the G410 hybrids in 4 & 5 to match my existing 3. But, I could not order them with the STOCK PING SHAFT, even though they are available in right hand.

So, I had to spend an extra $50 per club to order the 4 & 5 in the G425 newer model just to be able to get the STOCK Shaft that I need. And on top of that, I had to order them Custom just to get that particular shaft, so I am still waiting for those clubs to ship, despite ordering them over 2 weeks ago.

If I were right handed, I could have ordered the G410 model, qualified for free 2nd day shipping, and saved over $100. All because I need a particular STOCK Shaft. As far as that goes, I’m a disappointed and disgruntled customer.

I made the switch to One Length for this season and there hasn’t been one regret. I’m new to the game, did my research, and figured it’d be a good time to make the switch before I got too engrained in the variable length setups.

The irons (Forged Tec Black) weren’t much of any adjustment at all–just started hitting the ball further and far more consistently. The hybrid has been the only challenge to tame, but after a few dedicated lessons, striking this baby pure off the fairway is the most satisfying hit in the game so far.

I’ve found there’s a mental component to the swing I’m working to overcome. As the One Length irons made it easy to choose a loft and just swing it as you would any other iron, the aesthetics of the hybrid head on a 7-iron length was throwing me off.

The club head left me wanting to move the ball forward and stand further away in my stance, which felt awkward with the shorter club length. As I’ve gotten more consistent with the lineup and swing, the speed of the ball off this hybrid zooms at a perfect low to mid-launch (went with the Project X Smoke Black shaft, S) and cruises straight down the fairway.

I’ve also been using it for the 30-50 yd chip shots when it’s a flat roll to the green–the weight of the head helps to keep the club face more square through the swing and gives it just enough pop to get the ball moving while staying aligned to the target.

Once I master the technique of this club (knowing that any criticism of the club comes down to operator error), I’ll likely grab a 21 degree on top of the 19. I definitely recommend this club as a necessary addition to any One Length setup, but I encourage you to stick with it if the initial trip to the range doesn’t come with as much ease as the One Length irons adjustment.

I have been reading, testing and watching every review of the Cobra F9. From Golf Digest to Rick Shiels You Tube channel to seeing Rickie Fowler win last year at TPC Scottsdale with it, I was very impressed and sold on the look, feel and numbers.

With so many other drivers like the M6, TS2, Epic Flash and G410, Cobra made a nearly flawless driver and outsold, outperformed all those other drivers mentioned. I went with the UST Helium shaft because it was very close to my old fitted Mitsubishi Bassara Red shaft.

I really like how stable it is and the look at address is confident-inspiring. It is so easy to square the face on impact and it feels great. The ball flight is high through testing in the simulator and combined with my TaylorMade TP5 golf ball is and will be a lethal combination for this upcoming golf season.

I cannot wait to see the best of this driver and what it will provide for my game, long-term. Lastly, a big thank you to the staff at the Laird store, store manager Matthew, Lauren, Samantha, Michael and everyone that deserves so much gratitude from myself.

So Far, cannot hit a decent drive with this club. Topped everything BAD. I discovered that the club length is NOT 48″ like my current driver, more like 46″. I could not see this information anywhere in the description.

Now I cannot trade in my current driver as I need to use it until I can figure out what to do with this driver. Please provide a longer shaft option if one is available.

I was having trouble hitting my 6-iron but having much more success with my 3-4-5- hybrids so I thought I would purchase the Cobra Air-X Hybrid 6-rescue. I’m glad I did! It hits clean and pure and makes good contact.

The ball travels 20+ yards further than my best of shots with my traditional 6-iron. It glides through the rough easily. Being 73 years old, I find the use of a hybrid much easier that those long irons.
