20 Best Kitchenaid Meat Grinder Attachment (2023 Updated)

After some pretty thorough research, I purchased the Food Grinder Attachment and Fruit And Vegetable Strainer Attachment for my stand mixer for the main purpose of processing tomatoes for sauce. Overall the system worked great and I am satisfied with the product; however, had I not already owned the stand mixer I would have purchased a commercial electric food press.

First of all, you must purchase the food grinder in order to use the strainer, but you don’t really use any of the grinder parts in the set up, just the housing and feeding tray. Which are both just plastic parts and could have been designed to be larger in size to make processing a little faster and cleaner.

I really think the Fruit And Vegetable Strainer Attachment should come with everything you need as one set. And the Food Grinder Attachment could at least come with a sausage stuffer! The attachments I purchased are of good quality and deserve a higher rating, but Kitchen Aid is only getting 2 stars today for not providing VALUE to their customers.

The attachment sets should come complete or there should at least be cost-saving package options available.

I only use the whisk attachment for making whipped cream and I could never figure out why I had dark flecks in my whipped cream until recently. I finally googled it and sure enough, countless comments online related to the poor quality of the whisk being used caused these silvery flecks that only show up to those of us who use it to make the all white cream.

It looks disgusting and it can’t at all be safe to injest this material. The whisk has gotten so much worse over time that I can’t use it anymore, I came on the site to look for an all stainless steel option and there is none! Why would there be no clean, stainless steel option when so many people have reported the exact same problem.

Now Ill have to find another option for making whipped cream and I’m really unhappy about that, my kitchenaid mixer should be able to do it all. It says the whisk is stainless but the base that you attach to the mixer is not, I don’t know what it’s made of but it’s terrible quality and it makes sense that there’s a cancer warning on it.

A whisk attachment should be fully dishwasher safe, if it isn’t that’s a red flag to know that the materials aren’t safe.

I have the smaller Kitchen Aid and this attachment fits it perfectly. I bought it for the sole purpose of grating fresh organic horseradish for my elixirs. I make my own home remedies with a variety of ingredients and I’m use to doing everything the old way: by my own muscle.

But now I don’t have to be concerned about scrapping my fingers while I’m working. I’ve only tried it with the horseradish but I know I can use it for grated potato hash browns and possibly scalloped ones (my favorite).

Carrots should work as well for preparing carrot, raisin, apple, and pineapple salad (another favorite). (GRIN) I have three Kitchen Aid products in my home and I can honestly rave about all of them equally.

I love this company. They satisfy my needs. Hint: I can’t buy fresh horseradish in my county of residence, so I buy online. I found a great shop at Etsy and the owner gave me a good tip about keeping it fresh.

She says to wrap each fresh piece of unpeeled H/R in a paper towel, then place in a zip plastic bag, and store in the back of the freezer. This way you only grate as much as you need when you need it and the rest goes back in the freezer.

It works. Fresh H/R and frozen H/R are both hard as a rock and they grate perfectly with this attachment. And you only peel off as much as you need. I use to peel it and freeze it but I was told it will stay fresher longer if you don’t do that.

I love this subject and use to make my own fire ciders but now I just make two or three days at a time. I’m rattling on. Sorry.

This attachment is heirloom quality. It is polished to a very high luster. I would not put this grinder in a dishwasher. Comes with a real bristle brush, three different size plate holes, a plastic push stomper, and two different sizes sausage tubes.

It makes my Pro 600 KitchenAid look like a work of art. Very beautiful attachment. Well worth the extra money over the nylon, and plastic counterpart offered by Kitchenaid.

Bought this unit after watching my son make sausage with a similar grinder but mostly plastic. This thing is a beast, just made five pounds of maple flavored breakfast sausage and five pounds of sage country breakfast sausage in a couple of hours.

Fit and finish are great, ripped through 10 lbs of Boston Butt without any issues using the larger hole plate, separated into two bowls and added seasonings for each flavor, installed the smaller hole plate and zipped throuh the second grind almost as easy.

Have some serious tasty eats in the freezer for the next couple of months. Great buy!!!.

This is an excellent product. I breaks down nicely so its easy to clean. Altogether it’s a good fit for the kitchen aid mixer. It comes with more grinding sizes than the plastic one, and comes with two tube sizes.

Make sure you lock it in tight to the mixer otherwise it will spin on you. I think its great value for the price.

I got this free with a purchase of a Kitchenaid stand mixer. It was a rebate offer and it took about 3 months to arrive. I was so excited to try this because I love sausage. It is very easy to attach to the stand mixer.

I followed the directions and cut the meat as I was supposed to, but this food grinder has a really hard time to grind the meat. I am trying to grind raw meats. I use the meat pusher and the grinder struggled and if you add any fat, it really struggles to grind the meat.

I then switched to the bigger holes and things flowed better, but in the end, I was more frustrated than anything else. And honestly if you have a good butcher shop, easier to go to them and ask them to custom cut ground meat for you.

I ended up giving this way after trying 3 different times. Great idea, but the blade is not strong enough. Maybe getting the other more expensive grinder would do a better job.

Purchsed to make sausages with an it was unfortunately missing the blade. Much to my delight Kitchenaid promptly had a replacement sent out to me so I could start putting it to use. First made a 6kg batch of sausages and after following some online tips they turned out to be the best sausages I’ve eaten.

The ease of use as a grinder is really satisfying although I think if I’m to continue making sausages I’ll invest in a better way to stuff them. Also made burger patties and even on a course grind the mince was particularly well ground.

Not sure if this was operators first time fault but I would’ve liked the meat to have been a bit more course as it was very well ground. Overall very pleased and will continue to find different ways to use it.

We purchased this product in 2010 and it is still going strong! We use it on a regular basis–at least four times a month. On a few occasions, we have seen oil residue on some of the meat, and this problem is eradicated by simply cutting the pieces smaller before putting them through the chute.

Extra large pieces of meat place too much strain on the Kitchen Aid motor, so the meat pieces need to be smaller before introducing them for processing. We usually clean the components by hand and we have had no problem with them maintaining their integrity.

The finished product looks as good if not better then the ground meat that we have purchased in the store. Additionally we have the increased satisfaction of knowing exactly what we are eating –exactly what we put into the grinder without added filler, fat, etc.

I normally do not write reviews but I had to for this. It is awesome!! Made my first batch of sausage today! Very durable! Fits my Kitchen Aid mixer snugly. Easy to assemble and easy to clean. I love it and feel it has already paid for itself.

Good for using moderately. Very impressed with quality and easy of use. Great performance! Cleaning for the most part is fairly painless as long as it is consistent.

Had to return this grinder after one use!!! The price for this unit is spot on to start out with especially if your not sure you are going to use it all the time, like once a year during hunting season.

Its easy to clean and its light weight due to being made of platic. All parts are dishwasher safe besides blade and grinding plates! I took all the pieces out of the box and everything was washed by hand diligently.

This is to clean the parts before first use and clean off the oils used on parts for shipment and storage, hopefully food safe grade H1. I assembled all parts while carefully reading the instructions.

First the worm gear, then the blade, the coarse grinding plate for burger and then finally the plastic collar. Now remember only snug up the plastic collar to the plate and don’t overtighten! Then next i attached the food grinder to the power hub, I was really excited at this point! I cut up the beef chuck roast into 1 inch straps, turned on the amazing kitchenaid mixer to speed four and dropped in that meat! I was grinding away and grinding away fast, it was so easy and efficient! I mixed in the spices and sent the burger through a second time.

The burgers were in the pan in a matter of minutes! After eating the burgers I realized I can’t buy store pre-prepped burger ever again. Now here is where the problem occurred and I was upset and worried, sorry for the long story up to this point but it was crucial.

After disassembling the parts I saw something and it made me worried for both my family and others. The blade and the grinder plate were rubbing together during grinding. The result is metal scraping and gouging in the metal which was transferred to the meat.

How can a company build a product such as this and it pass their testing standards!! Then proceed to get sent out to the public in total disregard for peoples health and well being!! There are fixes on the internet such as sour cream lid washers, food safe washers and sanding down the blade/grinding plates.

Why be forced to make these repairs in order to use your grinder safely in fear of your families health?! I would not and will not do such a thing! This product needs to work out of the box!!! I am only giving it two stars instead of one because it is light weight, easy to clean and it ground the meat easily.

I absolutely refused to use this unit more than once due to its manufactured defect and safety concern. Buyer beware!!.

I do not have a KitchenAid stand mixer but my sis does so I bought this for us to make our own sausage and grind our own burgers. It’s a good solid sturdy grinder; easy to use and clean up. Our first attempt turned out really well.

We did hot Italian sausage. The trickiest part was finding and then figuring out how to use real sausage casings. I found them at a “real” butcher shop; not a grocery store. None of them even knew what I was looking for.

We just YouTubed it, got the gist of the technique and voila; we make a 5 pound sausage ring and the rest we just divided up into packs of ground sausage. With the cost of groceries being so high, this product will pay for itself in no time.

I decided to make keilbasa sausage using my grandmother’s 120 year old recipe. Remembering her using an old piece of bulls horn and stuffing sausage casing with her hands seemed daunting. So I ordered the stuffer.

Feeding the seasoned meat into the attachment and watching it flow out into the casing in a uniform round perfect sausage shape made it worth ordering. The only downside is now after sharing a taste test our friends want me to make them sausage to the tune of about 60 pounds.

Product in the review picture is the product that is compatible with my FGA2 food grinder attachment, and no the one I received from PoK. The website lists it is not compatible with the 5FGA, but only after you purchase and receive an incompatible product are you informed it also includes FGA and FGA2.

Product promotional videos on PoK website actually advertises the FGA2 as part of the sausage stuffer attachment.

I purchased this on Ebay and am perfectly satisfied with the service from the seller. The Sausage Stuffer works just fine but I have one reservation. You have to be careful to NOT over-tighten the tube to the Kitchen Aide Mixer or the tube will break.

The cost was very reasonable but in the future I will spend a little more money to get a metal tube so that I don’t have to be so careful when tightening the seal, breaking the tube.

I have been wanting a meat grinder attachment for my kitchen aid for a long time but they only had a plastic one and I didn’t feel it was sturdy enough. When i saw this grinder I was thrilled it is metal and it comes with the sausage stuffing tubes! It is easy to attach and stays in place very well.

I was able to easily grind up a roast Into burgers. I also made a chicken breakfast sausage. I chose to use the smallest plate to really test how well it works. I use partially frozen chicken breasts, cut them into chunks, tossed my spices, onions, and some ghee in and mixed it a bit then ground them all together.

It made great sausage too! I was a little worried about clean up but I followed the instructions here and it was so quick and easy to clean up! The brush that is included does a perfect job of getting it cleaned out quickly.

I would definitely recommend this product for anyone that would like make their own ground meat. It is so much cheaper to make the sausage instead of buying it too.

I have a 600 Pro Series KitchenAid mixer I’m using to drive this. Assembly is easy and straightforward if you have used grinders before. If you haven’t I suggest watching a video or two. The metal of the actual grinding tube is a little thin, but if you consider the actual KitchenAid product was plastic I will take thin all day.

There is a key advantage to a metal grinder, are you can freeze it before grinding, where plastic wouldn’t take and hold the cold. Again the light material mass of the metal grinder won’t hold cold as long as heavier metal products on dedicated grinders, it’s lightyears ahead of a plastic solution.

As for cleaning, I found it to be no better or worse than any grinder, and the inclusion of a fitted brush is ahead of the other grinder. In conclusion, this is a great ad hoc grinder for a few pounds of meat.

Works well and is great for making meatballs and patties! the different accessories are all so helpful and the cleaninig brush makes my life so much easier. I especially like the special sausage making tool.

I haven’t seen any other products that can match what this offers especially at this price! must have. My recommendations for sausage: Grind and stuff in a single use using the Medium grind setting. Keep the kitchen aid at speed 4.

Make all the equipment cold before using by putting it in the fridge. Try to hold back the casings as you stuff to get them full enough for your liking.

New cutting blade fit`s like the one that came with the whole set that I bought. Very sharp, easy to use and very easy to clean and keep it clean.

The only thing I will say is that the attachment doesn’t fully “click” into place. I had to return my first box of attachments because they didn’t fully go into the Cuisinart stand mixer, and the pin wasn’t holding into the hole of the attachment pieces.

So strange. Cuisinart customer service saw all the photos and videos I’ve sent them and couldn’t understand why. I told them there were reviews of this happening to other customers. Cuisinarts customer service was extremely polite, friendly, professional, and took their time to understand what I was telling them.

They went above and beyond to resolve this issue…I opted to have another set of attachments sent…they fit, but a I’ll do not go completely into my stand mixer. However, the pin is able to reach the whole in the attachment and keep it still.

I used the meat grinder to grind beef and pork fat so that I could render it. The grinder comes with instructions on how to put it together and I recommend reading the if you have not used a grinder before.

If you put of together incorrectly the grinder won’t grind the fat and it will him up the machine. My grinder went through ten pounds of beef fat and five pounds of pork fat in about twenty minutes. I am very happy with it.

I’ve used my meat grinder attachment to make sausages, hummus with ground almonds, and more. It’s delicious! I’ve also used it for apple balls made with almond butter, pecans, and dried apples. Much better than a blender because the sticky ingredients don’t get caught on the bottom of a jar since there is no jar.

I’m very happy with it and plan to find other ways to use it.

Excellent Tomato processing package. We processed s between 100-150 lbs of tomatoes over several weeks with our Commercial KitchenAid Mixer and although it was tedious because of the limitations of the machine, it ran flawlessly and worked well.

The KitchenAid Juicer/Food Grinder combo does have a few minor engineering issues but they are pretty easily dealt with, although it’s clear the machine was designed for smaller batches than we had from our home garden.

The feeding hopper is tiny and not able to be enlarged easily. This unit needs a bigger feeding hopper! In addition, the pulp extruder is too close to the juice output area. We placed a few inches of clear tubing hose to extend the pulp extrusion and that helped.

You will also need to be creative in placing your catchpots. Why wasn’t the Juicing shroud designed to direct the juice flow off axis and away from the mixer base? Who designed this, engineers or marketing people? They should have been forced to use it before the product was approved to find it’s shortcomings! There’s also a gap at the rear of the auger worm under spring pressure that probably could have been sealed with a silicone rubber sheath but despite this the tomato processing doesn’t seem impeded.

All in all, this is a great unit that gets the jobdone for small batches/light duty use at a good price point but could be much more useful with a few design improvements!.

I made the mistake of ordering an attachment that was not KitchenAid, but according to the write up-, it was compatible with. I sent it back. The tomato strainer was mostly plastic and did not fit well into connection of the KitchenAid Mixer.

I ordered and received the KitchenAid Tomato Strainer attchment and it was a joy to use, Simple to use and fit well. Also stainless steel connection with set screw indentation which held the strainer tight.

Easy cleanup. I highly recommend. Do not waste your time getting attachments that are not manufactured for the appliace you own. It was a good reminder for me. Yes, it was more expesive but I have confidence that it will work for years to come.

My husband bought our KitchenAid stand mixer during the spring of 1989 along with the accessory bundle. It is a fantastic appliance and I couldn’t cook as easily without it. I have sung its praises ever since I started using it.

As a matter of fact three of my friends/family have bought one based on my insistence that it is a quality product and our daughter and son in law were very happy to receive theirs as a wedding gift from us.

That having been said, the housing on the meat grinder is cracked. I can’t say when it did cracked as it has languished in the drawer for many years. Also, we have put it in the top tray of the dishwasher to clean and sanitize it and I don’t know if we weren’t supposed to do that.

The plastic could have become brittle and just cracked. After reading the other reviews complaining about the same issue I am thinking my justifications as to why it cracked are less likely. The only reason I am writing this review now after all these years is because I am surprised and upset that it did crack as it really hasn’t been used that often.

Also when we were making sausage the meat would squish out around the plate area but I attributed that to it being plastic and not able to seal well. I see other people have had the same issue though.

I’m sorry for the length of this review. I wanted to be clear on the reason for the complaint as I do like the mixer. So in summary, I fully recommend the stand mixer as it seems to be of good quality and still works great even though it is 25+ years old.

I have also bought other KitchenAid appliances, including our refrigerator, based on the normal quality of the company. I cannot recommend buying the grinder accessory though. It seems to have a design or material flaw and just seems cheap in comparison to the rest of the appliance.

Not a large mincer but does the job. Providing you get the correct speed and don’t rush it you get good usage and end product. Really if you have a good local butcher they will mince you a couple of pounds of steak or failing that just get supermarket mince.

If you enjoy faffing and diy it’s quick and easy to mince a pound or more for yourself but it you were thinking of 5 kl to get through be prepared to spend some time loading the small feeder tray as you go.

I purchased this product after the first one I had failed, with a crack on the side near where the “rod” inserts into the head of the KitchenAid Mixer. The refurbished unit feels better made – I think it may be a different vintage than the one I had.

For small grind jobs – it’s perfect. I used it to grind out lamb leg to make sausage and it went just great.

If you don’t need a commercial meat grinder, this one will meet your needs–I make my own summer sausage and breakfast sausage and grind up my yearly supply of deer meat and it does just fine–just don’t get in a huge hurry cause it isn’t one of those $800.

00 grinders—!!! Cleans up real nice and Kitchen Aid mixer has enough power to do these small jobs just fine–cant say anything bad about this product.

I love this attachment and use it during meal prep each week. I use it to slice carrots, cucumbers, radishes, and even my cabbage. I use it for slicing up potatoes into rounds for au gratin potatoes.

I’ve used it to slice eggplant as well as other vegetables like zucchini and squash. It just is so fast to do and save me a ton of time in the kitchen. I love meal prepping and KitchenAid is one of the best products with all of its attachments to use for quick jobs.

It’s so easy to pop the attachment onto my stand mixer and then slice what I need or shred up my carrots or lettuce really quickly. I have bought several KitchenAid products and attachments for my KitchenAid stand mixer and I have not been disappointed yet.

The quality is very good and everything that I bought and I have been very pleased.

I really wanted this to work, it would have been a nice addition and well used. However it does not seem to be very strong. The opening is extremely small so you have to do a lot of prep work just to fit it in.

If you wanted to slice a cucumber you would have to cut it as much as in quarters just to fit. Some carrots fit and they shredded just fine. However I wanted to shred small multiple items for a dish: it mushed the celery and onion.

The cabbage you had to hold on the bottom of the attachment so it wouldn’t break as many others have said it did and had to push so hard just to get it to shred and this was following the directions and having in on setting 4.

Otherwise it surely would have broken. In the end I shredded or cut by hand. It is easy cleanup, but if it doesn’t work well, it really doesn’t matter. So I don’t know if it isn’t powerful enough or if it is just a really bad design, but this is going back.
