20 Best Kitchen Scale For Baking (2023 Updated)

Yet again, I purchased something from Zulily without doing more investigation about the item’s features. Last time it was a pet food bowl that turned out to be too small, and now it’s a scale that doesn’t have enough decimal points.

I use a scale primarily for weighing packages to mail, and also for weighing yarn in order to know how much I used for a project. My smaller scale works great for yarn, but when preparing packages for Christmas mailing, I couldn’t see the screen readout when a large package was being weighed.

So, I purchased this one before looking elsewhere for more details (most product descriptions here are skimpy). It will display ounces (the unit I primarily use) and tenths of ounces (as well as pounds + ounces).

For most things, that’s sufficient, but when weighing yarn I need it to go to one more decimal point to get an accurate weight of the skein. So, it does what it’s supposed to do, and if you’re using it for food measurements the equivalency charts on top are handy, which is why I do recommend it as a general purpose scale.

I’ll keep this for when I have to mail something large, but I also have to keep my old one for yarn. So much for paring down the stuff in my house, at least when it comes to scales.

I bought this to use in the kitchen, my boyfriend loves it! It has some really nice features! This was a great find at a great proce! Zulily rocks!

For weighing out carrots or potatoes, it’s just fine, but it’s wildly inaccurate (and getting worse by the day) for smaller amounts. I recently switched from a Keurig to making pour-over coffee, and thought I could just use this scale to weigh out my daily grind.

Yesterday I put in 16g of coffee, paused to talk to my husband, turned back to the scale and the readout then displayed 12g. What??? This morning I put mu mug and v60 on the scale, zeroed it out, and started adding grounds.

The v60 was 2/3 of the way full of grounds and the readout still said 0. Lifted the filter grounds off, zeroed it out, put the filter grounds back in the v60 and the display said 64g. I’m giving up and buying something more reliable.

This scale is the perfect baking and cooking utensil for all the measurement needs. It easily switches between metric and imperial units so no matter what country of origin your recipe is from, the scale can automatically adjust and save you time that would normally be spent manually converting! The device is small and tucks away neatly in the kitchen and is very easy to use.

I bought this digital kitchen scale approximately 1 month ago. I have been very impressed. It’s size is perfect and compliments my kitchen aid stand mixer bowls when combining ingredients to make a dish.

The numerals are nice and large as well. It also offers changing between different number systems which helps when wanting to work through a recipe by Julia Child. Very happy!.

I have been making face and body cream for the last 20 or so years for my family. But I always had used a balancing scale, thus a lot of mathematical equasions to accomplish the amount of ingredients used.

After using the KD 8000 especially with the tare value, it saved me at least an hour or so of time to get the job done. I recommend this scale in soap/cream making and in cooking, my wife is in love with scale.

With a substantial weight and build quality, this stand is easy to attach to a hive thermostat. The stand enables the thermostat to be more easily controlled. A good piece of kit, if a little pricey for what it is.

I bought this to bake bread and pizza dough. I wanted to weigh salt and yeast as well as the bread and water and my previous scale would not even weigh the little paper cups I use to stage my materials, much less weigh 5g of yeast.

The first thing I did was weigh one of my paper cups, putting in on the scale several times. 1. 7g every time. When I made my pizza dough with it it seemed to have no problem registering the weight of a 1/4 tsp of yeast as I spooned it into the cup, it took several tiny spoons to get up to 5 grams.

My next test will be to weigh out 500 grams of flour and then tare the scale and see if it will register the 5g of yeast and 15g of salt as I add it in a bit at a time. (If it doesn’t work I will revise the review).

So far, I am very pleased with it and hope it continues to perform up to expectations.

Working well so far. Wanted to get the scale by Hario but this one was a little cheaper and goes up to 6lbs, good for everything in the kitchen, so I decided to get this instead. The silicone mat it comes with does help so there’s no slipping and sliding.

In hindsight, I’m not sure why I splurged on a scale in this price range, feel like the ones in the teens ($) may work just as well. But these dedicated coffee scales have timers on them and it does come handy.

My only (sort of) complaint is that it turns on very easily. I have it in a drawer and it turns on easily when I need to move the scale. It’s not a big deal but I definitely would use better quality or rechargeable batteries with it.

This scale is very sensitive – to 0. 1g. Robust enough that I can tare my KitchenAid stainless mixer bowl and add ingredients direct. Like the fact that you can easily switch from Kg to g to lbs t oz with a simple touch.

Takes a bit to get used to the on/off button. The scale takes about 5 seconds to initialize when first turned on. Almost instant response after. Really good scale for baking.

I can’t remember the last time I did a review, but I’m doing one now because of the negative reviews I’ve seen for this product. I think the product is outstanding…but it might be important to know what I use it for.

The only way I am ever able to lose weight is to count calories. I’ve never had a better product to count calories. It works in either grams or ounces. The TARE feature is fabulous. What I did not realize after reading the instructions is that the TARE feature (leaving what is already on the scale but setting it back to ZERO at the push of a button) can be used continuously AS YOU ADD ITEMS TO A DISH…OR A BOWL…OR A DINNER PLATE.

This is extremely handy as you count the calories for a meal…I don’t have to keep weighing each item individually …I just put one plate or bowl on the scale, add my food one item at a time, and keep getting the new weight of the new item simply by pushing the TARE button and resetting the scale to zero.

Love this scale! I’ve gotten into the habit of weighing ingredients, rather than using measuring cups/spoons. At this point, I can’t (don’t like to) cook without a scale anymore. I also use it for portion control.

I chose this model because I wanted a scale with Increments to the 0. 00 ounce and I love the wacky colors. This one has an auto shut-off feature but stays on significantly longer than my previous scale which is a lot less frustrating when adding ingredients.

Highly recommended! I bought a second one for our teardrop camper and I’m back to buy another one for my husband to measure out epoxy in his shop.

I bought the Escali Primo to weigh espresso beans before and after grinding. The automatic tare function makes this incredibly easy. I turn the scale on with the lid of my Braun grinder on it. It registers 0g (I could change the units to ounces if I wished).

Then I scoop the beans onto the lid until the scale registers 20g. I tare the Escali with my empty Krups 170 portafilter, grind my beans and remove the portafilter to fill and tamp it. The Escali reads -32g.

When I place the portafilter back on the Escali, it reads 20g. Now that I know the portafilter weighs 32g I can simply weigh it when filled and it should register 52g, which it does. I have checked the calibration of the Escali with a set of brass weights from 50g to 1g and it is accurate.

Simple to operate and accurate – what more could you ask for in an inexpensive scale?.

It was a tad smaller than I expected; however it has been working great. I have been putting some pretty hefty plates and bowls on it so I can measure my food. Even with the bigger items, I can access the push buttons and read the numbers pretty easily.

The smaller and lighter features make it easy to carry when I travel. I might buy another one just for traveling. I have not had any issues due to traveling. Oh, and it seems very accurate and sensitive.

Ill put one spinach leaf in the bowl at a time and it registers a change.

I purchased this from the good reviews, however my experience with it has been less than good. The scale isn’t sensitive enough to pick up on things I add it and will stay at zero. I have to restart and tare off and all of that 5 times in order to weigh my food.

I changed to new batteries too. It’s frustrating as it shouldn’t take me that many tries to measure my food. I would just invest in slightly higher price or better designs.

I purchased my scale about 3 years ago and use it often – almost daily. I’ve known Taylor to be in foodservice industry for years, so felt it was a reliable name – knowing nothing else about scales at the time.

I purchased this style scale because it didn’t take up much space and would blend with my stainless appliances. In contrast to the other review on the product, I am absolutely satisfied that the size is compact and have never had a problem weighing anything – I simply use a small dish, bowl, or plate, press the “tare” button, and then add the food.

Because of the inconspicuous design, I store it on top of my microwave within quick reach and I don’t get a look/feel of ‘clutter’. I like the capacity of 11 lbs. vs. the other brands who only handle up to 6-8 lbs.

I bought two of these and have only tried out one. I have had the same Salter weigh scales for 47 years and wanted more accurate electronic scales. The size is rather small and found, when weighing out ingredients, that the weight keeps changing.

If I lift the bowl/plate off and start again the weight is different. I don’t know if this is a fault or just the way this machine is. I did want a more definitive result each time. The second scales are for a present but I think I should open the box and test them.

This is the third electronic scales I have had and I’m still not comfortable using them. This is over a number of years and I always revert to the old fashioned scales! I love the look of these scales but found it confusing that the instructions tell you to touch on zero.

in these days of touch screen tablets etc it looks like you just touch the display button on top rather than press the button underneath. Might be worth clarifying that on the leaflet. Also, the fact that measuring oils is different to water based liquids needs emphasing! I think part of the reason I don’t get on with these scales is that you are encouraged to just use one bowl to save on washing up but if you add too much of the next ingredient it can be tricky to then get it out.

Also, if you leave it for a while it goes off and I haven’t worked out how to re weigh without emptying bowl and then putting back on the scales! I had far more washing up than usual. That said, I love the look of the scales and the numbers are very clear and changing measurements was easy.

I just need to persevere and stop getting my old scales out!.

This is an elegant way of weighting in the kitchen. Loved the accuracy of the digital scale, which is very sensitive and therefore can be very useful when baking and you want to know the exact weight to the very last milligram.

Professional. digital, heavy weight. The Taylor High-Capacity 33 Pound Digital Kitchen Scale is super sleek! It is black and stainless steel and designed to fit in with a modern kitchen. It is slender and will easily fit in a drawer, but big enough to weigh a turkey or other heavy meat items.

It can measure weight as much as 22 pounds of as small as 0. 05 grams. I don’t prepare large quantities of food at one time, but this scale is great for the average person who is health conscious or who needs to have exact measurements for calorie counting.

I love the hold feature that it has. I can simply press the hold button to hold the weight that is currently on the scale so I can add more or remove some if I need to until I get the measurement right.

I use my scale multiple times a day. Great for accurate measuring in grams and ounces. The best part is the volume scale option. With the accompanying chart, just plug in the code number, and measure out tablespoons to 1/4 cup to 1/3 cup etc.

After awhile the common ingredients are memorized, 59 is milk, 29 is white flour, 52 is sugar :).

On a side note, I do quite a bit of cooking and baking and have loved the accuracy of a kitchen scale for that, but I primarily bought the scale to use in order to measure my portions of food.

Prior to owning the Oxo scale, I had no real idea of what a true portion was. I was blown away once I started actually weighing my food to find that my ideas of a portion were way off. For example, thanks to the Good Grips scale, I now know what a serving of pasta truly is.

I also realized that what I once thought was a serving was actually about 4 servings! That makes a huge difference when counting caloric intake! I’ve been using my Oxo scale in conjunction with my Fitbit One, Fitbit Aria scale, and the Fitbit and MyFitnessPal apps.

This scale has proven to be an invaluable tool in helping me achieve and maintain my fitness goals. The zero feature on the scale is perfect for adding additional ingredients to an item. For instance, I will start by weighing a glass bowl.

I have used this scale multiple times throughout the day for the past month and I absolutely love it! It is easy to read and with just the press of a button I can convert between ounces and grams. I really like the look of the blue backlighting on this unit as well.

The light button illuminates the scale readings in a cool blue light. My only wish is that the light would remain on. The screen stays backlit but only for a several seconds. I would like at least the option to toggle the light on and leave it on.

I’m sure the feature is to turn the backlighting off after a few seconds in order to conserve battery life, but it would be nice to have that option. One well thought aspect of this scale is the detachable face that allows for easy reading of measurements when large bowls or containers are on the scale.

For normal every day measurements, I’ve found I don’t need to remove the face. However, when measuring ingredients into a KitchenAid mixing bowl, it’s nice to be able to move the face forward in order to easily see the measurements.

This kitchen scale has been designed by someone who has used kitchen scales and knows the most irritating features of all the rest. The OXO Good Grips scale with Pull-Out Display is easy to use, easy to clean and solidly constructed.

If you do a lot of home-cooking, this scale is worth every penny.

I use this scale for measuring coffee beans, so I would prefer it to be pretty accurate. I aim for 18g. The problem is, the scale would say 17g, I would add one bean (yes, one bean) and then shake the jar and the scale sky rockets up to 20g.

I shake the jar again (without adding anything), it jumps again to 21g. I shake it again; 19g. Again, 17g, again 18g, etc. It just will not keep an accurate measurement. It’s not a huge deal for me but it’s quite annoying.

So I gave this product two chances when it hardly deserve even one. The first scale I bought lasted about 2 years, and I thought it worked fine right up until the surface gave out and became loose and wobbly.

Maybe I was a bit too hard on it, I thought. So I replaced it with the exact same model, but over time found this one to be a bit less responsive, often having to press tare multiple times just to get it to work.

Now after less than one year, the digital readout just fluctuates constantly even when there’s nothing on it.

I do a lot of bread baking and use a digital scale daily to feed my starter. I bought this Taylor model as a backup. It’s okay for that purpose but I wouldn’t want to rely solely on it for all of my baking needs.

It has a nice large readout and the buttons are easy to use but it sometimes has difficulty zeroing in on an exact measurement, giving me a weight either 0. 1 grams under or over what I’m aiming for.

Probably would not repurchase if/when need arises.

I’ve had my eye on this scale with its pull out face for a while, so it was an easy choice when my 20 year old digital kitchen scale went irreparably awry. The other features (tare weight, choice of pounds or kilograms) are pretty common.

It’s larger and takes up a little more counter space than my old scale. Clean lines, attractive, the stainless is pretty neutral. Only rated 4 stars because the stainless weighing platform is highly polished, and already acquired 2 small scratches just from the clean glass jars I used to test it out.

Brushed stainless wouldn’t look quite as fancy, but would be a better choice by the manufacturer, IMO. Clearly, this is quickly going to get scratched up through use. Not an issue for me, but if a pristine perfect look is important to you, I would say keep looking.

I read a lot of online reviews and ratings for kitchen scales before deciding on this one. It was well-regarded in just about every review I read, so I bought it. There are less expensive scales for your kitchen available, but I doubt there are any better than this one! It is extremely user friendly as well as easy to clean/sanitize.

It is versatile having readings in pounds & ounces, all ounces, kilograms and grams or just grams. There is a really nice little graphic which shows how much of the available range is currently on the pan.

This product really doesn’t do much that a $20 scale can’t do, but it’s worth the upgrade if you’re baking frequently. The base the put bowls on is wide and easy to clean. The display is bright, large, and can be pulled out so it isn’t obstructed by large bowls.

Readout responds very quickly. Can handle large quantities. That being said, there are drawbacks. First, it is fairly large. It only does the basic functions. Some people have noted that it isn’t very accurate for small weights (within a few grams).

That is true but, as a chemist, inaccurate measurement at the extremely low end of a scale’s range is common to all scales, regardless of price. If you need to accurately measure a few grams consider a scale meant for milligram weights.

Purchased as a gift. Good sized bowl, although I imagined the brass would be glossy rather than the matt finish which shows every finger mark! Needs buffing if it is out on display so fine for those who love keeping everything gleaming otherwise store in a drawer!!.

Very well designed, solid little piece of equipment, weighs a decent amount of liquids as well as dried ingredients using imperial measurements as well as metric. It’s a nice neat and decorative scale that takes up little space on the worktop.
