20 Best Jump Box For Diesels (2023 Updated)

Well we will see. Just got mine in today and so far it looks like it is built solid. Not all of people can jump a 24v so I had to get something to keep me from getting stranded. For the price I don’t know yet but it is high for what it is.

Pros does 12/24v Easy to switch between the two Replaceable batteries that are cheap on Home Essentials Direct Cons. No idea if it charging because there is no LED letting you know. Super heavy.

I found it $30 cheaper but the quality of the product is worth what I paid.

Only picked up on Friday, charged up and had to use it on Saturday. worked fantastic. The only thing is it did not come with a 240v USB plug.

Other reviews mention that this jumps anything, but it failed to start my pickup even with a full charge. The tow truck driver brought a Noco Genius Boost Pro GB150 and was able to start my truck instantly.

Im returning this and buying one of those instead. If you have a smaller pickup/SUV or a car this might work for you.

This thing has saved my butt several times already!! I had a power outage for a couple days from a bad storm and didnt want to run my generator all night so I used this to charge any small electronics overnight.

Literally just plug and play! Amazing! Recently my truck battery has not been holding a charge so instead of jumping it with my car every time, I used the jump starter. Pop the hood, attach the clamps, turn the dial to on and start the vehicle.

Worked every time and this battery was dead dead. I think I jump started with it about 4 times and the indicator is still showing 100% charge. I absolutely love this jump starter and cannot recommend it enough!!!.

I love this jump box, it is made well, it’s solid and heavy, which leads me to think it was well made! You have to charge it for a full day once you get it home. The jumping cables are made with high grade materials, it has a USB port for charging your phone, or tablet.

Excellent jump starters for professionals who needs to jump starts many cars during the day! i work at a car dealer and we use this unit to jump start at least 5 cars per day, it has no problem starting any kind of cars and trucks, the only time where it fell short was when trying to start a F350 6.

0 disel with a completely dead battery that was drawing power. other than that i have not had any other cars were it struggled with. the unit itself is very solid, clamps are good and solid construction, its a little bit on the heavier side (i think official weight is ~25 pounds) but thats expected if you need a powerful unit.

also a neat little feature that the unit have is that even when the unit is off if the clamps are hooked to the battery it shows how much voltage is in the battery or the battery is getting, this is useful in know if the battery is completly dead or just a little low, its also useful when the car is on cause you can check if the battery is getting enough voltage and know if the alternator is working or not without having to grab a multi meter.

we usually use it all day to jump anywhere from 5-20 cars, and then charge it at night. so far we have had this unit for almost a year and its still running strong with no issues. i would highly recommend it for anyone who needs a jumper for multiple daily use.

if you only needed it for emergency or need one that you can easily cary around i would go with a smaller unit.

I purchased this ostensibly for use with a motorhome which is in storage for long periods but when my car had been sitting on the driveway unused for a few weeks and had a completely dead battery (remote central locking wouldn’t even work) I realised I had a perfect opportunity to test my purchase for real.

Wow wow wow! It worked as planned. Car started. I did not that having previously fully charged the unit when I came to use it only 3 of 4 leds were illuminated so beware to make sure the unit is topped up for those emergency moments.

Very pleased with the purchase.

Haven’t used it yet. Emergency preparedness device. Do love how NOCO has accessory cable that allows me to avoid having to use those strong clamps. Just hook the eyelet cables to the battery permanently and plug in the NOCO boost if/when needed.

Or, with the proper adapter on the cable, plug in my NOCO Genius5 to maintain the battery on a seldom driven car. NOCO rocks. Great customer support, too.

Thought a while about buying this over a standard heavy jump pack … and while this is probably double the price, boy it performs well. simple to use and worked without issues on my 2. 5 diesel Motorhome.

Small light and compact , with a torch and a USB port for what ever you want charging. A****.

The case is sturdy with a hard shell under the fabric. the cables and battery clamps are well constructed and a good size. There is plenty of room to store everything in the case. Its easy to use and the instructions are clear and the pack is well marked.

Nice strong light too. Mine came fully charged. I showed it to my auto mechanic and he was impressed too! Definitely worth it! And definitely needed to be prepared for an emergency; especially in these days!.

Bought this item even though it did not have any reviews. Looked like it was a decent item and appeared to be an better item than the one my son had. I borrowed his a couple of times and it was just fine.

Well, this item was not good at all. Took forever to charge up from the two bar level to four bars, fully charged. I put it in my car. We had a blazed here in NY City and the temperatures dropped and stayed below freezing for days.

I left this vehicle where it was with the pack in the vehicle. A couple of days ago, I went out to warm it up, and it would not turn over. Got the booster pack out and found the unit was now at 1 bar and I could not use it.

Brought the unit into the house and plugged it in. It took all day and night to charge up. I left it plugged in the next day and the four green bars were all on steady. The booster pack was cool to the touch indicating it was now not charging.

Sunday I wanted to use the vehicle. I went to get the booster pack and found the pack’s 4th bar was flashing, indicating it was charging. I felt the booster and it was warm indicating it was again charging.

I took the pack to the car and it started it up on the first attempt. My son who was outside with me disconnected the booster and stated the booster was now nearly dead. Status button showed only one bar.

The vehicle in question is only a little two liter engine vehicle and this booster pack was done after one. My Son-in-law has a booster pack in his car for two months. He checked his when I went there that day.

It was fully charged when he checked it. Four red bars. The status was fully charged. I then took my item back to Walmart that day, Sunday February 6th. The Walmart is not near me but only three miles from my daughter’s, so I stopped off for visit and went to Walmart after, so returning this item was not a total waste of time.

I like the size and weight and with the carrying case it is easy to handle. I haven’t had to use the vehicle charger yet but the 3 phase light and usb chargers work great. With 3,000 Amps peak the charger should be more than enough to start my vehicles.

Warning: It does not come with the 110 volt adapter to charge the unit, which is strange as this adapter is inexpensive and usually comes with everything! So you will not be able to charge the unit until you buy the adapter.

It comes with a usb cable so possibly it could be charged by a computer? The manual says it can be charged by a car charger but the cigarette lighter adapter is also not included (and what if your car battery is dead?) Anyway the unit is good for me because of the power it has but the missing accessories could be a problem and should have a notation in the ad.

I bought this as a back up so I thought I would not be doing a review for a long time until I used it. This last week we where up north towards Hibbing Minnesota at -27 below and the truck didn’t start nor did three snowmobile‘s.

Others start pulling out jumper cables and extension cords and battery chargers but I pulled this out. By the fourth jump this battery pack was about exhausted but it got them all running. Wow give it five stars what a trip saver.

We decided to search for a compact charger all in one by COSTWAY but that was sold out everywhere. Decided just to inves in a charging battery and did a little research. Decided to purchase 2 chargers this one and another competitor recommended by Amazon.

The other one arrived sooner and we decided to give it a go, and little to our surprise it came with 100% charged and we Jumpstart the dead battery, only thing it took 2-3 seconds to kick in or start the car.

Engine was knocking over a few times before it kicked on. Well droelve on the battery for 45 min and decided to pull in a parking lot and turn off car to see if the battery was good. To our avail it didnt start.

So we used the battery charger again to jump start it. Just to get hime. Decided to take the battery inside and fully charge it for several hours. And used it again to start the vehicle and left it on for a minute to juice up battery.

Guess what didnt work, battery went dead again. So later that evening received this charger and was on 85% manual said fully charge it, so we did over night. Next morning when its at its coldest Jumpstart started the car and left the battery on for 1 min to juice it up and guess what, at only 1% of energy used from charger the 1 yr old dead infiniti battery lit up every time we started the car.

Decoded to drive for 20 min and again the car started like it just came from the show room. Got the oil change over a year, greased a few things and replaced wipers and state inspection, this car ran brand spanking new with this battery and only used 1%.

Were not going anywhere with any other brand nor are we hesitant about chargers when we have this bad boy by our side. Great investment, just wish it was a combo all in 1 with air pump, light and stuff.

Well, this thing weighs about 2x as much as similar units. I havent opened it up to verify its not just lead weight in there, but from the build quality, it seems really solid. It came mostly charged, but I topped it up anyway and it took a bit of time.

It comes with a REALLY nice USB-C charger/wall-wart. It does up to 43w @ 20v and is also quite solidly built. The whole kit here is just full of quality workmanship, a huge change from the usual fare.

I actually have some confidence in this thing that it will be ready when I need it to jump-start a car. It has USB-C input and output, as well as USB-A. So it can be used as a battery bank, or to jump start your car.

Its dead simple to use and has a huge % remaining readout so youre never in any doubt how much charge you have left. This is a great unit and I am very pleased with it. I will update this review if it fails early or fails to perform as advertised the next time I need to jump the car.

Some of the functionalities did not work on some batteries. I tested some of the tire inflators, some did not work. The battery pack depleted very rapidly. Overall, it seems flimsy and most likely will not hold up long term.

I bought 6 to give as gifts. I am returning 5 of them back to Indigo Cheaply constructed.

My cars all went dead because I had a broken foot and hip. Despite having them started, they reached the point where another car could not jump them. Fired up this incredible gizmo and in a few minutes 3 cars and a truck were purring and running.

I received my emergency starter kit about a week ago. i still haven’t use it so i cannot comment on whether works well or not. However, i did test it and it was great. It has the capability to do multiple things and that comes really handy.

I always carry in my car a set of road “survival” tools just in case, which includes a tire inflator, a flashlight, a set of wrenches, and a battery booster. I used to have in my trunk a large bulky and heavy jump starter with a carrying handle which had an acid battery inside and it was taking up a lot of space, not talking about the extra gas you waste driving around with this piece of equipment.

While this car battery booster uses a Li-Ion battery, which packs more punch compared to the standard batteries and most importantly it’s smaller and lighter. This jump starter has an 18000mAh battery inside (assume it’s 5V, not 12V, making it ~90 Wh total power capacity) and packed with a number of awesome features that fall perfectly in line with my “survival” principle.

First of all, it has a built-in flashlight, which is pretty powerful and will come in handy. Besides normal flashlight mode you can cycle through strobe / SOS / red mode by pressing the flashlight button, which is an excellent feature for emergency situations.

It also has a small compass, which has nice details, but I don’t expect much use from it. Most importantly it also functions as a power bank! It has two USB ports to charge your phone and accessories (both 2.

1A and 3A), and it has 12V power output as well to power up car external equipment that normally use cigarette lighter sockets for connection (included). This all means that I don’t need to carry an additional flashlight and power bank in my car, everything’s packed into this jump starter!Charging is done through USB-C 5V/9V port, so you can charge it virtually from any power source that has an USB port.

You can charge it at home, when driving, even from your laptop :). Theoretically, you can charge it even from a solar panel too, and I recommend keeping one medium size with you as well just in case you completely run out of all power, and you are stuck somewhere in the wild.

Now let’s move to the field testing. Connecting the charger is straightforward, you plug the boosted module with clamps to the battery pack, connect the clamps to your car’s dead battery, press “ready” button on the booster module and if you see a green light, they you are good to go, if not then you should check polarity and connection.

For this purpose, I would like to disconnect the car’s battery to simulate a 100% dead one and see if this small device can provide enough juice to start a medium size car, in our case Porsche Boxster.

And it did! You can watch a video for proof. I tested it three times in a row, and it boosted my car no problem and the battery level was still almost fully charged, around 95% charge left! So, my conclusion is that it’s reliable and that you should definitely keep one in your car – it’s small, light, powerful, versatile, and it will save your bacon down the road :).

One more important advantage of the Li-Ion battery in this booster is that it can hold its charge for 12+ months without recharging while the standard battery in my old booster had to be recharged every few months to keep it in good shape.

So, this charger is a “set it and forget it” one, you can be sure that it will be ready and not discharged when you need it the most. I would like to especially note the excellent large LCD screen on the front of this charger, which gives you exact readings up to 1% resolution of the current charge level of its internal battery as well as additional operation information like charging and boost ready status, USB output status, reverse booster cables warning, etc.

Great display! I just don’t understand why they glue a protective sticker with such a strong adhesive, I couldn’t remove it and when I finally removed it glue residue was left on display, it took me a good 15+ minutes to clean it up with some rubbing alcohol.

The only complaint I have now is that it does not have USB-C output as many devices are now switching to USB-C and it would be excellent to have this option to tap into its large battery. Also, it would be nice if the body was more rugged, it looks like it’s rugged with 4 screws in each corner and aggressive profile but in reality, it’s more for looks only.

So better don’t drop it. And I really don’t believe 2000 Amp peak power, seriously though, I can’t test it but no way a 90Wh battery will give you that, another booster I have with a compatible battery only outputs 800 Amp peak, so I’d say 2000 is a clear overstatement.

Bottom line:Yes, I definitely recommend this portable jump starter to everyone, must have in your car!Pros:1) Jump starts a medium car no problem, 2000? Amp peak power!2) Can be used as a portable power bank!1) Can be charged from any USB power source.

First off, full disclosure means I ought to mention that a product like this would’ve been VERY useful a few years ago. when the battery was the last thing to go wrong on one hand-me-down and the FIRST thing to go wrong on the next.

Now that I’ve traded in that second one for a new-new vehicle, this battery is instead one relegated to the category of “unexpected safety product” like a seat belt cutter: you get it before you need it, because it’d be a really good idea to have if you wind up needing it, but you really hope you’ll NEVER need it.

Ironically that means that “jump starter” is one function I won’t be able to review for hopefully a long time to come. (Not unless a coworker or parent gets in trouble, of course. )But I can review a few other features.

Like I said in the title, it charges fairly quickly. I’ve got it plugged in to the same charger my phone came with (Samsung Note 8 so we’re talking more than a few years old) and in the few minutes it’s taken to write this review it’s gone from 70 to 100.

Sorry, didn’t actually time it. (Manual says it takes 4 hours to fully charge and that–assuming I’m reading this correctly–extending the battery life would require charging it every three months if it’s left idle, though it will last six to twelve months on idle without recharging.

)The LCD shows quite clearly what the battery level is, and if it goes dark, hitting the “on” button will turn on the backlight so you can read it better. Four different lights depending on whether you need to see in the dark or specifically need SOS lights flashing to alert someone to the fact that you’re in trouble.

They’re plenty bright. My dad has a much lighter-weight flashlight that does the same thing. On the one hand, his being lightweight makes it more portable; on the other hand this one feels more rugged, plus the additional weight comes from not needing to carry a bunch of DIFFERENT things versus his only being a flashlight.

(Also, since I decided to make the comparison, his has different lights on different sides, which can translate to accidentally shining a light in your eyes if you’re not sure which one will trigger next.

On this thing, the light is all on one end. )The LCD will also show which light mode you’re on if for some reason you lost track (as I have a habit of doing when changing modes just involves hitting the same button so many times).

Compass on one side. Could stand to be a bit bigger for readability–it’s on one edge of the battery but it takes up maybe half the battery’s height/thickness. Size-wise, this looks like one of those tiny ones you might’ve gotten on a keychain as a souvenir somewhere rather than something you’d buy because you genuinely expect to need a compass; it’ll do in the absence of a bigger one, but all you’re doing with it is “making do.

“Buttons/controls. Going to have to agree with another reviewer on this one. Speaking as a Michigander who will need gloves if I do end up using this as a jump starter, a big complaint is that the buttons are NOT glove-friendly.

And I’ve lived colder places than this. (Try North Dakota where block heaters were normal. )USB. Two ports (not counting the USB C used to charge the battery itself). From the color-coding one of them appears to be a 3-point-whatever USB.

Since we’re only talking about using them for charging other devices e. g. phones, which one is best to use will depend on what your other device takes. But I like that both options exist. And what feels like a high-quality bag to keep the battery and included cables in so everything’s organized until you need it.

No more trying to wind up jumper cables to make them fit in that big round bag for me. I know next to nothing about automotive maintenance but the instruction manual makes this look EASY to use. Like something even I would have a hard time messing up.

(I mean, there’s still the risk of knocking things over like the klutz that I am, but in terms of understanding how to use it. ).

UPDATE: This one is my bad. The hesitation my car was experiencing when using this jumper box was due to a failing starter solenoid. Since fixing the car, and using it on a few VERY dead batteries, I can say that this functions excellently.

I typically use the “boost” function to get things going, but the device is a beast for starting cars. It has been easily rivaling my big, expensive jump box, at a fraction of the weight, size, and cost.

Pretty sure I’ll get another one to keep as a spare. I’ve updated the rating from 4 stars to 5. Unedited review below. So I typically always have a jumper box with me, and I get to use it a decent amount.

It’s one of those big, heavy JNC770B boxes. It always works, it can jump several cars between charges, it holds it’s charge for a long time, and it can start a car from dead. But it is fairly expensive, it’s big, and it’s very heavy.

So I got this small one so my wife could have something for her car, which is smaller and doesn’t have room for a large jump box to be there all the time. Yesterday I got a chance to use this for the first time.

My car was on accessory power a little too long and would not start, but all the electronics worked and the engine would give a chug before giving up. I hooked up this jumper and got the ready indicator, but the car wouldn’t start.

I tried again in “booster” mode and, with a lot of hesitation, I got it started by pumping the gas and revving it with the key. It discharged the jump box to 97% down from 100%. So it WILL work, but it’s very weak.

There was a decent chance I could have started the vehicle by revving it and pumping the gas pedal to begin with (I was trying t use the push-to-start feature initially). But even if I couldn’t have, the battery was only slightly under charged.

I would not expect this to work if the battery was dead. If you leave the lights on overnight, or have a dying battery on a cold day, this will probably not work. If you find yourself sitting with the engine off and the electronics on for a while and accidentally discharge the battery slightly too much to start the car, then this could be of use.

It’s also small and easy to keep in the car somewhere, stashed away. I do need to use jump boxes to start much deader cars from time to time, especially ones that haven’t been driven in a while. Next time I come across one, I’ll give this another try and update the review if it actually works.

Brilliant unit. As a mechanic I am normally a bit sceptical about some of these units. This unit is well built and solid, feels like there is some real battery power in there. I used this at work yesterday to turn over a diesel land-cruiser 105 series, which had two dead battery’s sucking the life out of the electrical system.

It started the engine first go. No sluggish turn over or anything. Love the fact that the alligator clips have a loop wire in them as well for better contact and better power delivery. Only down side is it didn’t come with its own charger, but it is just a USB “A” type phone charge.

Comes with cable though.

This jump pack was delivered fast, I’ve used it a few times and it’s been great. I didn’t read the instructions prior I just charged it up and took it to work. It’s been great. Works well, the light is great to have and it charged relatively quick.

I should have read the instructions first as I didn’t realise about the boost function. It works great and if I had to pick one thing that I would like to change it’s that I’d like a bigger boost button on the leads.

All round it’s a great tool though, reliable and easy to use.

looked for a affordable jump starter that would be small enough for a glove box but still pack a punch. decided on this one, and i had perfect opportunity to test it as soon as i got it. my small truck that was sitting for several weeks had a dead battery.

Convenient little thing. Used it to jump my motorcycle that I just got out of storage. I like the fact that it has USB chargers now I don’t have to add that mod to my bike. Fits nicely in my backpack.

Waste of money. I bought one because someone used theirs to give my car a jump. I, however, must have purchased a DUD because it doesn’t jump my battery, let alone hold a big enough charge to jump my battery, no matter how long you let it “recharge”.

bought this to try and jump 2 cars a 1979 amc concord that lights turned on but no luck and a 2012 chrysler 200 with no luck eithir. but it jumped my friends motorcyle 2 times and mine 2 times so i wont return it and keep it in my pack just incase but for the cars it was useless and thats what i bought it for.

A mobile air compressor and jump starter in one mobile device – very nifty! I needed it the day after I got it. I had let it charge overnight. When it came time to use it, I spent entirely too much time trying to figure out how it works, where the controls are and how to utilize them.

They are NOT intuitive. If you or your lady have small frame bodies, it will be a task to carry it in just one hand. I’m fairly strong and I would not relish carrying it across a field to use it. Oh yeah, and it is LOUD when used to provide compressed air and it has a small CFM rating so it’ll never do to get a tire seated back on a rim.

Great for inflating a tire with a slow leak so you can drive the vehicle to get it fixed. WAY better than a hand pump for bicycles or inflatable sports balls. If you’re a little patient it would also be a delight when used to inflate a river raft or something with a larger volume to be inflated.

I used mine the first time to help a friend with a dead battery – he’d stopped by the side of the road to take a picture and his car battery had inadequate charge to turn over the engine, it worked great! He was a bit miffed that he had to wait while I read the instructions but that got very little sympathy from me.

I’d decided I’d rather have had him wait than have both vehicles on the side of the road while attaching jumper cables.

I pumped up tires, alot of tires the first weekend I picked this up, after I charged it to 100% of course. Later that weekend I charged two car batteries with no prob. It was a big hit the following weekend camping.

The light lit up the whole campsite and the USB port charged multiple different devices, all night long. I hope this one last longer than the Craftsman one I purchased years ago. It’s definitely a lot cheaper in cost.

Anyways, that’s why I say so far so good. Time will tell. We will see.

Most annoying product ever. Tried about 8 times to use this to start vehicles with discharged batteries and every time it fails to work. There is a “Boost” button in which the device is supposed to deliver constant power but it lasts 5 seconds.

Hardly enough time to run back into the vehicle and turn the key. Save yourself the aggravation and buy a JNC660. THAT box started every vehicle every time. I thought the Gooloo was nice and small and had usb charging options so it would be perfect, not if it WONT WORK!.

I have used it for a week now jumping large trucks. Its works but after 4 trucks it is useless so I am constantly charging it. Only plus side is; its cheaper than the Noco GB70 and way stronger than the Noco GB40.

Minus side the battery doesn’t last that long and gets weaker after short jumps. I work on cars all day; so for commercial use I do not recommend it but for an individual standby emergency tool. It is worth it; but I will state again; I am writing this review after using the tool for only a week.

I do not know how long it will hold a charge over time when not in use.

No instruction book. USB cord very thin. 12V cords are too short. Case is well designed but poorly made.
