20 Best Ipod Touch 5 Cases (2023 Updated)

I have used Otter Box products for quite some time. I have used this case for the better part of a month. Well made and attractive products. My main beef is that Otter Box does not produce all of their products in North America.

(almost certain my case was made overseas) I would prefer to pay another $10-20 for a product made in a country with good worker and environmental protections. This is a premium product with a premium price, the price I do not dispute, but it would be nice if it was made stateside.

That said, the quality of the case is excellent. Good protection for when I drop things. The screen protector is not very good. It is loose and you have to push pretty hard for positive contact. Since I have big thumbs it is already a bit difficult to get the right button on the screen and the cover does not help.

I plant to remove the Otter Box integrated screen protector and replace it with another product. I am happy with my purchase.

Exactly what you would expect from an Otterbox. Solid as hell. Some complained that it was hard to get apart to place the ipod inside, and it was, which is another good thing. Nothing loose goose about this at all.

EXEPT the built in screen protector, which I removed immediately, t willmopt for a standalone screen protector, but thats just personal preference. Overall, highly recommended!.

They’ll be sorry when they read this… THE GOOD: Two Defender cases provide more protection than I need, except when I drop my iPhone or iPod or a dog’s nose knocks them off the table; then, they’re well worth the price and sore fingers.

My iPod never leaves the house; it remains inside ensconced in the bottom half of the Defender case; the top half abandoned long ago. My iPhone’s Defender – top and bottom – is always with me when I’m outside.

All that is GOOD. Worth the price and sore fingers. THE BAD: Difficulty achieving an effect when pressing Volume and On-Off Buttons through either Defender case makes me wonder if I did something wrong when I installed them.

I hoped a “breaking in” period would alleviate this difficulty; not so. I feel contemptibly inept each time I try to press the buttons. My fingers were sore for two days (no guitar playing) due to the difficulty of inserting the iPhone/iPod into the bottom of their cases; difficulty pressing the buttons reminds me of this often enough to lower a five-star rating to a four.

Love the case; feel like someone’s playing a joke on me each time I try to press or press-and-hold a button.

Daughter loved the look of the case, it matched the color of her Ipod. Unfortunately, it does not provide much protection, my daughters Ipod fell from counter height and the screen cracked. We have switched to a tighter fitting case.

I love the colour and how lightweight it is. The black silicone portion is also very good for helping you to get a good grip of the device. My only issue is that you have to pull back the silicone portion just a little in order to inset the charger completely.

I would recommend this product.

Nice case. Rubber bumpers on corners help protect it when it drops. Case sits above screen to protect it against flat drops as well. Fits ipod well, all cutouts in the correct places.

I ordered a new Otter Box for my new Ipod as I had one on my old Ipod and I loved it. When it arrived I unwrapped it and assembled it on the new Ipod. The screensaver is just slightly too big for the actual box and when assembled it buckles in the middle making it very annoying to try to use the touch screen.

Also, the strap for it would not feed through the hole provided on the case. The weaved covering over the actual filament line inside the loop string kept tearing when I tried to feed it through no matter how I tried to do it.

As happy as I was with my first couple of Otter Boxes I have owned, this one has been equally as disappointing.

The screen started separating on my newest iPod. I was so glad that a defender case was available. The attached screen on the case fit snuggly around my iPod and acted like a girdle holding the whole thing together.

This happened to my other iPod as well, even though it is always handled carefully. I used a defender for that one over a year ago and it is still keeping it together. Thanks for the great products.

Just what I needed for my new iPod Touch. I have relatively big, clumsy hands and the bare iPod was just too slippery. I worried about dropping it and subsequent damage. The Survivor skin fits perfectly around the device and offer a firm rubber surface to grip along with protection from hard surfaces.

First, let me say I love the customized otterbox I have on my Galaxy S4. However, my husband has an otterbox on his ipod & I just didn’t like the feel of it so I kept looking for something just as rugged but more user friendly/grippable for my tiny hands.

The ipod otterbox felt bulky & awkward to me. I liked the Survivor case so well that I bought one for my son’s new ipod as well.

It’s a product I have used for over 7 years on phones but not on iPods, knowing the cost of screen replacement which is more than the cost of this case I was determined to protect this investment. Having children who will sneak off with the iPod I want to know its drop safe.

This case is very very good. It is a very snug fit with more than ample protection all around the sides and rear of the iPod. Also the Edgar’s are raised almost 1/8 of an inch to help protect the screen.

I am more than pleased with this case.

This is a very nice, simple-yet-sturdy iPod Touch Cover. It snaps into place and stays very secure. It’s rubberized, which makes it nonslip. Definitely recommend this product.

Good body protection, no covers for headphone jack or charge port

I bought one of these for my grandson’s iPod Touch a month or so ago. I was impressed with how well it was made and the protection it provides and decided to buy a second one (this one) for mine. Very happy with this case.

Cheaply made, could barely get it on the iPod, and when I decided I wanted to keep my older, way higher quality case, I couldn’t get it off because it was so cheaply made! Wasted like 10 minutes of my life trying to get this thing on/off.

I wanted a case that matched the color of the iPod but I’ll stick the 3 layer turquoise case I have that is a much higher quality.

Got this case for my six-year-old thats constantly throwing his iPod around its perfect and can take a beating and protects his device perfectly. Definitely recommend.

This protective case is excellent! Durable and well made. I was hesitant about the protective built in screen cover when I ordered. I thought it might be cheap flimsy plastic. But it is a hard almost glasslike cover that you cannot even tell it is there and does not hinder the touch screen at all.

It also comes with a strong ratcheting holster that works fantastic and further protects the screen! Quite possibly one of the best protective cases available for the IPod Touch 6 generation. Now if Apple would come out with the iPod Touch 7 generation! I would buy this case again and highly recommend it to anyone!.

The product have no instructions on how to get started, so I had to resort to a You Tube video in order to un -snap the case apart without destroying it. Once I got passed that obstacle the I Pod was easy to install into the case, entry holes, and push buttons line up perfectly for a secure snap in place.

Screen protector reads all the touch commands when you place your finger upon the app requested. Easy clip on case holder with swivel to adjust to your positioning in a chair or car seat. I pod snaps in & out easily to and from the case.

Does what these things should do, provide as much protection to an expensive piece of gear as anything can, this seems to do it well. I use my iPod in the shop where anything can happen, and as my luck runs, usually does happen.

Sturdy design, easy to get the iPod in the case, and even has a belt clip, if I decide to take the iPod out while messing in the yard.

It fits well and I dropped it on the concrete a couple of times and it never cracked but the one issue I have is that the paint starts to rub/scratch off after a bit. I got the pink case and after a while it started to turn grey.

Other than that it’s a great case. Good for little kids that drop things easily.

I love my case! I didn’t know how well this would work on an iPod Touch, but it’s perfect! It fits like the skin of a grape, and it’s thick enough to handle drops and keep my Touch well cushioned.

Everything about it us great wxcept for the snaps on the side – nearly everytime I took the case off to clean it, a prong broke. I got my case October 16 and last Thursday the final prong broke off. ðŸ™.

This case fits perfectly and provides all the protection I need for my ipod. One of the best things is, it doesn’t add bulk. Another thing I like is, because it is clear, the device is visible. I chose the ipod color because I like it best, so why hide it with some other color case? This is grest!.

I was a little confused with why the case is designed the way it is, but looking at photos I think the Generation 5 iPod Touch was different than my Generation 6, and needed the weird holes. It is an OK case, not great, but does the job, and you can see the red color of the iPod, which I like.

I am not sure how well it protects if it was dropped, but for minor scratches, it protects the iPod.

Our iPod had a thin plastic designer case. We wanted another case that was clear/show-through that would fit over the iPod with thin plastic case that would offer some rubber/silicone impact protection.

Unfortunately, this case does not do that, though it just fits the iPod without the thin plastic case OK. We tried.

Had purchased this for my son’s iPod. He absolutely loves it. It allows him to grip his iPod well and it has the raised corners so when he puts it face down it doesn’t touch the surface that he placed it down on.

Would highly recommend it!.

It was very nice, but it slide right off. I lost the front part of the case. Not sturdy enough to hold together. The design is cute.

I love my case. I had 1 that cost more than what I paid for 2 of these. Happy doesn’t begin to say how much I love this.

Bought this on sale at my local Sprint store 2 years ago when I bought my iPhone XR. I loved the waterproof design and used it everywhere I went! After about 6 months, I really started feeling some of the negative aspects of the case though.

With the phone having a face recognition to unlock, having the small amount of distance between the phone camera and the case caused some sort of reflection or distortion so that the phone won’t unlock, or, if I’m on the phone, the screen refused to stay up to allow me to change the call type from speaker to Bluetooth, merge the call, or the like.

It frustrated me a lot so I would take the phone out of the case once a week or so to make a call or simply unlock the phone, at which point the sealing rings/gasket came unstuck from the case after opening it up 4-5 times in a month! so, I tried to put the rubber gasket back in and when I closed the case, there would always be a corner that refused to seal completely since the gasket was always flopping around inside the case.

I ended up having to use masking tape wrapped around the gasket to add thickness to the rubber and that held it in place until I was annoyed enough with calls not working correctly that I bought a cheapo case that works better for everyday use, and the life proof case has sat unused in my desk drawer for the last 6 months.

This particular case had a seal that disintegrated. the rubber just started peeling out of it. I had to order a different case from amazon a couple of months later just to get by. I just now found another lifeproof fre in one of the colors I have been looking for so I ordered off ebay.

I am hoping it was just a bad case and this one will hold up. I should have taken a picture. I did not. When the rubber started to crumble it got messy and I tossed the case. I like lifeproof cases because they are waterproof.

Normally they just would wear out around the charging area. This particular one even lost the rubber coating around the sound on off button. At first I did not realize it and my phone was getting bumped on and off.

One of the questions above was does it give good protection. When in tact it does but because this case crumbled it was worthless.

I bought this a month ago, I’ve only ever use life proof case is the 12 years I’ve had Apple products, the case I had before purchasing this one was a clear hard shell life proof case. I had it for two years and it was no longer usable so I ordered the FRE case because that’s the only super protective case that they carry now for iPhone XR which really upset me because I liked having my clear plastic case so that I could put anything on the inside of it and make it look like my own case, I put Polaroids and stickers in it so it looked really cool.

Now I can’t do it with the FRE. I didn’t want this case but I’m not eligible for a new phone yet so I had to do what I had to do. Definitely not worth the hundred dollars I spent on it. My friends can’t hear me when I’m on the phone with them because the speaker is so muffled from the “ waterproof technology” when I play videos off of my phone it sounds like my phone is underwater.

I have not put my phone in water to test the case, so there would be no water in my speakers. I just wish I could’ve got the case I had before because this one has given me tons of issues. It’s not easy to use.

I don’t like having to open the bottom flap to charge my phone, I didn’t buy this case because I wanted the waterproof technology I bought it because I wanted to make sure I wouldn’t crack my screen, the last case I had didn’t have the jack where the charger port is, or the screen protector over the phone, but I never had an issue with my phone shattering or cracking when I dropped it with my last case.

I just wish they still made the model of case that I used to have because this one sucks. This FRE case was the first one that I ever purchased for my iPhone four and I can continue to buy another one when I got my iPhone 6.

I’ve had this case before and I liked it but this one I have at the moment I do not like at all.

It’s almost exactly like my iPod 4 case which saved it so many times. It’s what I’d call a minimalist case or a simple case, yet it feels really good in the hand and offered pretty good protection. You can’t go wrong with this as your every day case.

Doesn’t fit properly, came coated in MFG dust so literally it needs to be thoroughly cleaned with rags/paper towels under water to make it clear. After all of that the lightning port opening is too small so it doesn’t connect to anything while being in the case.

My device is very protected. It feel secure to handle now. Thanks.

Great product. Only have had it for a short period of time. It cost a little more than others, but was well worth the money. The style is excellent. It is has a very solid feel to it. It doe’s exactly what I was looking for.

I would by it again.

Needed something to make it easier to grip the iPod without making it too bulky. This fits the bill perfectly. Going to look for a similar product for my iPad mini.

I like this case. I had read that this case was only a back piece and that a screen protector would be needed for complete protection, but that wasn’t the case. My case was both a front and back. It was a bit of a pain getting the iPod in it, but once I finally got it on, it fit nicely.

The only suggestion I would make is that a charging port cover would be a nice addition on this case so that dust and debris couldn’t gather there while in your pocket. I have a 7th gen iPod touch.

I’m going to say that before I purchased this. That I saw quite a few negative comments. And I at first I thought about not getting it but the more I read those comments It sounded like they were reviews for something else so I thought I would give it a try And I’m very Happy With my purchase.

It works great. It fits it perfectly. And I’m still able to use it the way I want to use it and not have to worry if it falls that it’s going to break. I definitely would purchase again.

Finally found a great yet inexpensive case for my Ipod. I was dropping it all the time, its too thin for my big hands. I have a Galaxy Note phone so this thing is tiny in comparison. This case gave it a nice edge for me to grip and i have only dropped it once.

And instead of automatically shutting down after a drop like it used to, causing me a great deal of panic each time. lol, it keeps on working. I also like that it has a clear back so i can see my Dodger Blue Ipod, AND it has a screen protector built in too for the front.

So far its been very durable after a month or so of daily use.

The Commuter Series OtterBox for the iPod touch 4th Generation is an AMAZING case!! I love it!! I did not realize that the silicon and polycarbonate shell separate. I thought that is nice and it makes it easy to clean the little dust that is attracted to it.

I will say that without the iPod in the case it seems a little flimsy, but with the iPod inside of it is quite nice. I have found that it is a very protective case since the few times I have dropped it and I am sure that there is still many more to come.

😉 It is not meant to be as big and bulky as say the Defender series which will offer more protection for the iPod. This as one can tell by the name is meant for easy transport and the sleekness of it.

It easily slips into a pocket and takes up very little space. Next, I must say that I didn’t know really what to think of the silicon plugs at first , I knew that they said it helped to keep the dust out of the access ports and therefor helped protect the ports from build up.

But know that I have them on the actual iPod I think it is very nice feature. Now, I like that OtterBox has kept a hole in the back so you can see the apple. Some people think that this is bad because it is not protected.

I on the other hand think that it is nice to still be able to see the apple and I don’t think it really wrecks the apple and surrounding area. The silicon is nice and flexible. Usually with silicon overtime it will separate from the device.

But with the polycarbonate shell over it seems to hold its place and not stretch as it normally would. OtterBox has also used another pro of silicon and textured it. It is textured on the sides where you would grip it in a hand.

On the left and right of the polycarbonate shell on the back. This makes it not slip as easily. To wrap up, I have found that the case fits very well over my iPod. I had got the red and black case and I love the color.

The red is not to bright. It is like a primary color red, a shade or two darker. I love the mix if the two colors (red and black). Overall, I would definitely recommend this case and if I ever need another device protected I will for sure buy OtterBox.

I really like the layers of protection for my iPod Touch. Be sure to thoroughly clean and dry your device before inserting it into the case. You don’t want any grit or moisture inside the case for obvious reasons.

One thing I am very disappointed about is the failure of the manufacturer to build and include a belt clip for this case. They do so for the iPhone and other cases of this type. On visiting the forums on their site Otterbox moderators indicate that they have no plans to develop a belt clip for this product.

This means you have to purchase a belt pouch for the device if you intend on carrying it on your person in something other than a pocket. In fact, the “grippiness” of the outer case makes standard pocket carry a bit of a problem.

If you’re looking for sheer protection and can overlook the lack of a belt clip this is a great product.

I already had a soft rubber case, and a hard plastic case. I like these just fine. But I got worried about a hospital stay. Since it was major surgery, and I thought I might be groggy, I decided to buy the otterbox commuter.

I did not want to spend that much, but it bought me peace of mind. I didn’t drop it off the high bed to put it to the test, but it’s construction includes a mix of the hard and soft cases. And it is designed in such a way that there is absolutely no way it would pop off the itouch on impact.

Most of the damaged itouches i’ve seen have fallen on the corners, and the screen have cracked. The corners on this ottterbox consist of a hard case outside with rubber casing underneath- probably the best you could hope for.

Comes with a screen protector, which fits great with the cover (I have been unable to use my screen protectors with some of the cheaper cases, which is a problem. I like to upgrade, and a perfect unit sells much faster than a blemished one.

) Overall, if you don’t mind spending about $20. oo on a case for a $200-$400 item- go for it! If you’re really clumsy, you might want to spend a few more dollars, and buy the chunkier defender model.

If I upgrade to the 64g, I plan to do just that, lol! Happy Walshopping!.

I just purchased an iPod 7th generation and needed a reliable case for it, as it sits in the glovebox and plays remotely on my Audi. This case is well made, pretty and fits perfectly. I am very pleased!.

I love this case from its magnetic closure to its snug fit on my iPod Touch 7 (no fear of iPod breaking should I drop tie case!), and it’s complete with 2 credit card slots and place to slide a few folded bills in.

I think the designers thought of everything. Good work!.

Love the case and fits the ipod fine; however, the protective glass wants to come up on the corners after the case is on. I’m unsure if it’s operator error or if the case fits too good. Still love the look!.

Not good so far out of the box looks and feels incredibly cheap poorly made complicated to take apart and put iPod in also. The protective film on the back was very hard to take off Not impressed at.

All Way over priced I’ve see ones on Amazon for 10 buck that look way better You get what you pay for in this case false advertising. You Guys can do better then this Over priced for the lack of quality I got.

Ok my opinion step your game up.

This was a gift for my wife who needed to replace her iPod Touch. It offers great protection and doesn’t interfere with the ‘touch’ capabilities. She’s had it for over a year, and it still appears to be in pristine condition.

I do hope that Apple continues to create new and better iPods. Highly recommended!.
