Best International Trips For Families (2024 Updated)

I expect the three “amusements” to be a well-received birthday gift for my daughter who regularly hosts Monday Night Dinner for family (cancelled until everyone was vaccinated for Covid). I’ve been tempted to unseal the cute little containers but have not, wanting to keep them intact until daughter’s birthday.

I have already given two of the games I purchased as hostess gifts and we ended up Playing the games. It was a huge success. Everyone wanted to know where I purchased them. Still have several that I will be using for stocking stuffers at Christmas.

I’m purchasing more to give away as gifts.

I bought these as stocking stuffers to get people interacting while 4 generations of family were gathered for Christmas. It was a huge success!

Only giving 4 stars for now as it’s a bit too advanced for the youngest grandchild. Will review again when she is a bit older. Great for family trivia games!

Purchased for Grandkids, but this is more for teenagers and adults. But great for history buffs!

There are SO many great trivia questions in this game. You could play it for a long time and never have to repeat any questions. Some of the questions are really tricky!

I have many different editions of Trivial Pursuit collected over the last 30 odd years, but haven’t played the game for a long time. This was bought for my grandchildren, 6 & 10 , and their parents, ( including my so in law who has never played it)! They’ve played every day since Boxing Day & have thoroughly enjoyed it.

Must be good as it’s dragged them away from “the digital age”. Brilliant.

My fiancé and I bought this game at [brand:action] this last weekend for 6 euros so I can practice my German skills while having fun. I think it’s perfect for learning a language because they have kid friendly cards that are better to understand (vocab) and if you get better at understanding you can obviously move onto the blue deck (adult cards) It’s small portable so we can play it anywhere and if we ever run out of questions we can just Google categories on our phones.

I love this game ❤️❤️ I told my family back home in the US about it and they will probably get it as well.

Love this game, great to bring the family together and play for hours. My kids love the questions and it’s also challenging for the parents with their own set of questions. Also helps the kids greatly as they have to think before answering and it’s also great for working in teams.

Highly recommended.

Completely fascinating and detailed. Hard to believe this country’s economic and political history was so heavily impacted by these criminals.

Well chronologically written and easy to read. Interesting insight into the mob that will keep you captivated until you finish it. Forget about it!

Was recommended to read this book by Michael Franzese who was a Capo with the Colombo’s. Brilliant read and an excellent history of the five families

This book will give you the best understanding of how the behaviors in a dysfunctional family are passed from one person to another. You’ll understand how and why the dysfunctional family unit, if broken up, will reform itself where an addict will unconsciously find another codependent, where a codependent will unconsciously find another addict.

Awareness is the beginning of change. This book will get you there like no other. Also see Bradshaw’s video of the same title if you can. These materials are available at most all public libraries. Action empowers and this book is a great starting point.

The author goes deep into origins of toxic shame and offers the ways to work on it, gives very valuable insights into our behavioral problems that are hard to come across in self-help literature. I’m giving it 4 stars because some paragraphs in the beginning are difficult to understand, and because of his praise for AA where it’s common for people to shame each other for their character defects.

Overall, I’m glad I found this book, it’s been very helpful, and I highly recommend it.

This book from “the past” is still an excellent work. I bought it for a friend who is finding the work helpful in moving on from certain issues. Nothing is really new under the sun for family pain and this author hits close to home with healing and wisdom.

The Two-Family House by Lynda Cohen Loigman is the story about two brothers who share a family home. Mort, Rose, and their daughters live in the downstairs apartment. Abe, Helen, and their four boys live upstairs.

The two brothers work together at Box Brothers. They make cardboard boxes for businesses. Helen and Rose end up pregnant at the same time with their babies due in January. Their children are born during a winter storm in Brooklyn in 1947.

One woman wants a boy and the other a girl. They have the opportunity to get what they want and take it. See how this one choice (act) changes their lives and their families. The Two-Family House is a slow starter.

It is hard to get to keep reading this book, but I persisted. The novel was okay (satisfactory), but not wonderful. The story just plods along telling you what happens because of the decision these two women made (and one regrets it).

The characters were flat. The Two-Family House is told in a first person point-of-view by various characters (which leads to confusion as it switches). The novel needed a little something (like maybe making it more of a secret) to make it more appealing.

It needed more depth and interest. It reads more like a first or second draft, than a finished novel. I give The Two-Family House 2 out of 5 stars. I received a complimentary copy of The Two-Family House from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

What a great debut novel. Set in Brooklyn, NY beginning in 1947 with 2 sisters-in-laws giving birth on the same day in the same two-family house and how their lives revolve around their friendship, triumphs and tragedies and their families throughout the years until 1970.

There are twists that I didn’t know that were coming and I couldn’t read fast enough since I wanted to know what was going to happen next. I love Jewish family books and this one didn’t disappoint. I hope this author writes other books and maybe even a sequel since I know I would read them.

Great read. These friends have their babies on same day; in same home. How much closer can you get? A blizzard interferes with their getting to the hospital for delivery. It is not the blizzard of 1978 but sounds like it.

Fast moving along with some surprise twists. Will love make these two women’s friendship last? I know, you won’t until you read the book.

White Mountain puzzles have to be one of the best quality puzzles on the market. The pieces are slightly larger than normal pieces and of very good quality. The puzzles never fail to disappoint. Havent actually completed his yet but just know it wont disappoint.

A huge fan of these White Mountain puzzles. This manufacturer captures everything Americana! If you havent completed one. check them out. We just love the puzzles by White Mountain.

Got this because when I was a child we lived in Germany & I went here with my mom. Got the puzzle glue to glue it together & then frame it. Jigsaw puzzles are my all-time favorite hobby. White Mountain has awesome puzzles and I have quite a few by them.

Like the size and texture of the pieces. Also have many different shapes.

We put this puzzle together which is utterly beautiful – but there were 2 pieces missing. So we bought another one just so that we could find the 2 missing puzzle pieces. Guess what? They aren’t there.

We have been through the box one piece at a time trying to fit unthinkable pieces into the missing spots – but no luck. What are the odds that 2 puzzles – that were wrapped when we got them – would have the same 2 missing puzzle pieces.

I am now going to count all the pieces in the new puzzle we just got – bet it is 998 not 1,000. We are doing another puzzle by White Mountain and I hope we don’t have the same result!.

We bought this to augment our already owned 1981 Classic Version (to have more current references – i. e. the version we have still refers to East and West Germany, and Pluto as a planet. , lol). So, we use both games questions (we intersperse them based on the roll of the die – i.

e. an odd number roll, gets the “old” questions, and an even number roll gets the “new”). It’s great fun!.

I have owned and played Trivial Pursuit for decades. My family has been very competitive at it, but I am happy to say that I win out most of the time. This newest edition has updated questions, though, so maybe the tide will turn slightly to the younger generation (ie my adult children).

We will see! If you have not implemented a game night, I highly recommend it. I find these evenings much more special than watching TV or a video, as there is actual interaction happening. These special times are what make memories in years to come.

Trivial Pursuit adds learning to the fun; which makes it a win/win in my opinion.

This has issue been addressed already so I will not go into extensive details. The game is clearly intended for US audiences; there is nothing wrong with that, but buyers should be informed, perhaps by calling it the “US Edition”, instead of the “Classic Edition”.

Because of the US influence in the world, I understand that an international edition would still have many US questions, but they should be of a nature that people who keep informed on world affairs have a reasonable chance of answering.

Unlike Community, this book has more than just salads recipes. The soups are hearty and perfect for colder days and the eggplant parm is delicious! This book also contains some sweet treats, and the banana golden syrup dumplings are easy to make and are now a house favourite!! Of course, Family still features some of Hetty’s famous salads which work well as side dishes but are tasty and filling enough to serve as the main course.

We cook from this book as well as Hetty McKinnon’s other titles every week now definitely worth getting if you liked Community.

Every recipe so far has been a winner with the whole family and there are so many more pages that are already tagged. Highly recommended.

IšverstiShow in original languageAll of Hetty’s cookbooks are lovely and full of some great ideas for something different and impressive. The recipes are all easy to follow. I would have given it 5 stars if it didn’t spend 7 pages on an Indian family story, but only 1 Indian recipe! Would recommend getting this for yourself, or for those people that never know what to cook for a vegetarian :).

We use to play trivial pursuit as children so when I saw this edition to play with my children, I had to get it. My 10 year old enjoys it. The questions are easy enough for him to want to play but not too easy that he gets them all right! Very happy with it.

And game play is a bit quicker than other ones I have played in the past.

We’ve owned several editions of Trivial Pursuit over the years. From the questions this is clearly a UK edition, as there are a large number of UK centric questions. As Kiwi’s who have never been to Tesco’s these were impossible for us to answer.

The categorization of questions also seems a little random (sports and astrology questions in science and nature section for example). Won’t play it again.
