20 Best Hydration Daypack For Hiking (2023 Updated)

I have used this on a few hikes into the Grand Canyon. I like the side hydration pockets that you can access without removing your pack. It was a little awkward at first, like detaching the chest strap hook, but I figured it out.

I like how I can organize the contents to avoid rummaging around a “cavernous” main compartment. The outside mesh pocket worked well when I needed to store my poncho after a monsoon burst, and the rain fly effortlessly slipped over the pack.

The Stow on the Go trekking pole straps still need some getting used to, but the ice pick storage works nice for holding poles too if you need it. The hydration bladder takes a while to get rid of the bad taste, but the tube disconnect at the top is a nice feature.

The hip belt strap is a little narrow, but I only notice it when I am clicking it into place. The chest strap has no problem staying in place. 3 pounds seems a little heavy, but it feels much lighter when I am wearing it.

The back trampoline feels wonderful and was one of the main reasons I went with Osprey. One thing I would add would be velcro to add a patch on the back.

I wanted a daypack for commuting to work by bicycle, as well as for business travels where I need to carry a safety hard hat. I’ll summarize what motivated my purchase, and then the respective comments after using the pack: 1-I wanted an easy-to-use helmet attachment for bicycle helmet and hard hat.

>I found it works great for helmet. It can also hook to the rear strap of my hard hat, but may not work on all models. 2-I wanted organizational pockets. >This was the only pack that I could find, with this many organizational pockets, and also has a helmet attachment and an adjustable harness.

3-I wanted a pack with padded hip belts and adjustable harness. >While this feature allows the hip belts to ride on the right height, this design also creates a step on the pack’s back panel that touches my back near the shoulders.

The two shoulder straps are sewed to a separate panel that can move up or down to adjust the pack’s torso length (it is secured to the back panel using hook-and-loop fastener). After I increased the torso length, the edge of the back panel (the aforementioned step) rubs again my back and is somewhat slightly uncomfortable for the initial 10-15 minutes every time I wear this pack (I would eventually get used to the rubbing feeling).

The overall carrying comfort is not bad, but I found the shoulder harness of my several Osprey’s daypacks (Escapist 25, Skarab 32, Comet, Flare 22) are thinner and narrower, and thus less comfortable, than that on my Gregory daypacks (Matia, Sucia, Border 25).

All in all, this is a quality-built pack with balanced design features, but I recommend that you try it thoroughly before deciding whether it is suitable for you.

We just retired and have started doing a lot of hiking, my husband needed a pack. This one is a perfect size. Plenty of room to carry extra clothing, food, a hydration bladder and essentials without feeling too big.

The two pockets that can become one is brilliant, the lower pocket will be great to but wet gloves and clothing while out cross country skiing. He tried on numerous other packs but felt that any bigger would be too much weight.

Osprey is amazing. We have had mountain bike packs for five years that still look like new. He also plans to use it for travel.

I got this about two years ago as an in-between for my day pack (osprey daylite) and my expedition/backpacking pack (osprey atmos 65 AG) and it does just that. Use: It’s a solid pack for a weekend ski trip, or a day hike with some picknicking involved, or for a day out fishing.

I’ve even gone on a little two nighter camping trip with this guy, but I did have to go ultralight. Do not expect to have your tent or synthetic sleeping bag in here. But a hammock, tarp, and fleece blanket on a summer trip is all you need.

It’s got just enough room for those little adventures. Comfort: All osprey packs are wildly comfortable. It’s breathable, forms to your body, and hangs well on your back. My only gripe with it is how thin the straps are.

They have some ribbing in them to sustain rigidity, but the straps are so thin that you can feel these supports if you’re just wearing a t-shirt. Overall: Solid pack. It’s got enough room for what you need for a few days, but 18 liters isn’t much.

It’s pretty comfortable, and just generally solid for your weekend endeavours.

New version not as good as the old version – Back internal frame is MUCH stiffer and has a curve out at lower back portion that seems to be designed for better ventilation of the mid back by holding the pack away from that back.

It does accomplish this at a the consequence of pulling the load further away from your back (making the load feel heavier (more leverage)) and having a much stiffer internal frame that is not as comfortable as the old version.

With the hip belt in use During walking the pack bounces more on my lower back and even digs in a little because of the stiff lower back bulge on the frame. – the side compression straps cannot be internally routed (in the side mesh pockets) like the old version (not too big of a deal, but I like them not dangling) – the rear stuff pocket is slightly smaller than the old one – the volume of the pack is held in a more narrow manner vs the old version, this again pulls the weight away from your back making the pack feels heavier than it is and it does not handle the weight as well as the old version – New Pack is 4 oz heavier (for small version) vs old version.

– New pack material feels slightly thicker everywhere – Plastic hardware and at straps are a little thicker and beefier Layout of this pack is the same as the old one, pretty much perfect IMO. I also love the ability to really dial in the shoulder strap height and just about all of the pack (both old and new) Those are main differences.

I think the Talon 22 would not have been hailed as the “go to” pack if this new version was released first. All of the above is my 2 cents so please try them out for yourself. I am really thin and don’t sweat much.

So I prioritize comfort and padded and flexibility packs over ventilation (If I have to compromise on one). So everyone’s preferences may be different. I am sticking to the old version and hopefully on the next revisions there will be some reversions.

If not I will might go for another Osprey with a flat (non-curved) internal frame like the Skarab. If the old version bites the dust them I might still get this new version and try to make my own flat internal frame since it is removable.

In fact, Osprey should sell different internal frame options for their popular packs, that would be cool.

I have an older Talon 22 pack from 10 years ago, I love this pack, but decided it was time for an upgrade. I saw them available at the last REI sale in a great neon green color and nabbed one. Just got back from a 12 day road trip with aggressive hiking in many state and national parks.

This pack just doesn’t hold up like the old one. I had great difficulty inserting a filled 1. 5 liter, 2 Liter or 3 liter hydration bladder in the sleeve. My old pack has no problems, but this was a battle every time.

Once the bladder is in, the weight of it collapsed and bent the support across the top so that it was very difficult to access the top zipper pocket. The structural support across the top has a permanent bend in it now because it can’t hold the weight of a full bladder.

Luckily I had my old Exos 34 on the trip as well, so after a week switched to that so that I could have a reliable backpack. You guys ruined what was the best travel backpack and one day hiking backpack.

This was a big downgrade. Glad my old Talon 22 is still in serviceable condition.

I recently took this pack on day hikes in Glacier NP and Grand Teton (roughly 50 miles in total hiking with this bag). It is a quality bag for day hikes and very comfortable once adjusted. My main issue with the pack is the badder design.

I already had a 3L Osprey water bladder, so I chose this pack for brand/connection compatibility. However, I was very disappointed with how this pack held up when using the bladder feature. First off, the bladder is very hard to remove/insert into the hydration pack compartment— full or empty.

Second, when full and tied in, the weight of the hydration pack causes the top of the backpack to collapse in on itself since the structure in this part of the pack is just some sort of firm board rather than connected to the frame.

As both components were Osprey brand, I had much higher expectations for how they would work together.

I was so happy to purchase this backpack because on longer hikes, my packs tend to pull down on my shoulders and exacerbate my neck problems. The pack IS good for neck and back support, but the frame is far too stiff and substantial for me to enjoy my hike comfortably.

It’s not for me, but might be OK for someone else. PROS: Superior back and neck support Decent hip pocket size Nice color CONS: – Frame is far too stiff and ever-present during the hike, makes you feel like an astronaut – Hole for hydration tube is far too small and sewn in such a way that makes it even more difficult to thread through; I didn’t mind it when preparing for the hike (I just put the hose in first before attaching to bladder) but removing a half-full bladder after my hike when I’m tired and eager to clean my gear was awful.

Water everywhere. This is a deal breaker. – Preparing hydration bladder is, in general, too much of a production. – Zipper on front pocket is unnecessary security IMO; you want that front pocket to open and easily accessible to stuff trash or wet clothes in or grab things like wipes quickly – Top pocket too small and the frame makes it difficult to get things in and out of – I miss the tiny pocket on the shoulder strap on the Tempest; handy for small snack, GPS, or GoPro – Available space for gear is deceptively small because the exaggerated arc and stiffness of the frame squeezes the main compartment to virtually nothing.

I’m sad about it, but will be returning.

I love, love this pack. I am day hiker with distances 2-10 miles. I have had back problems since childhood so for me to say this is the most comfortable pack I have ever worn is saying something. The adjustable torso length is an outstanding feature.

The various straps adjust to cause the majority of the weight to rest on your hips. Beside hiking, I used it as my purse, catch all and pool tote while traveling. I paired it with the 3 liter hydration bladder although I do wish I would have stuck with the 2 liter.

I agree with others that threading the tube through to the outside of the pack is tight but doable. I can attest the raincover performs except the hip pockets are not covered. I appreciate a whistle is integrated into the buckle.

One less item to carry. The design also helps keep your back cooler. If you are in the market for a pack, try this on for size. It is durable and well designed. Even though it is a bit pricey, being comfortable on your adventures so you can enjoy the experience is priceless.

Also, this one pack is less than the other four packs I don’t use. I just hope this pack is still available if I ever wear this one out. I was not given any compensation for this review.

I purchased a new Osprey Men’s Stratos 36 Pack since my old was had a lot of wear and tear and the belt zippers failed. I knew about Osprey guarantee, but couldn’t wait the 8 to 12 weeks to have my old pack repaired.

The new Stratos 36 has a couple of nice features one of which is the large pocket in on the back of the main compartment. My old Stratos had two pockets on top that were smaller. The main compartment on the new Stratos was only top loading, so you have to dig through everything to get to the stuff on the bottom.

The old one had a large zipper that completely opened the main compartment. A feature I really liked – no digging. No matter how I adjust the new Stratos I find I can’t get it to fit as nice as the old.

So I sent the old Stratos 36 off to Osprey to get it repaired. I received a couple of messages that they couldn’t totally repair it and offers of a new pack. Since I already had a new pack I wasn’t happy with, I asked they repair the old one as much as possible and return it.

Today it arrive and to my surprise NOTHING was done to it.

I have about a dozen maxpedition items from packs to pouches to sneak holsters. Every single one of them has flawless stitching and tough as rawhide material. This pack is my EDC pack and it should service me for a long time.

You can pay 25-30 dollars for a pack just like this one. Ive had them, stitches fail, lighter weight nylon rips or the zippers give out. With maxpedition I know Im covered, if anything goes wrong with it I can contact the company, try doing that with a Chinese pack.

I would make a suggestion to whom ever purchases one of these great packs. Get a stick of beeswax zipper lube. Run it over the teeth of the zippers to work them in. Even though they are nylon they have a tendency to be stiff in the beginning.

So if you want a tough as nails pack and you dont want to have to replace it every year, you cant beat a Maxpedition.

I can’t say enough good things about this backpack. It’s extremely well made and has tons of room to carry everything i need. Love the pocket for a 100L water bladder with provisions for running the hose out of the pack.

I can’t say enough good things about the attention to detail that is evident in every inch of this pack. I like the wolf gray color and it’s very comfortable to wear when it’s full. I carry it for work and it holds a 15″ MacBook Pro along with everything else I need.

On the weekends it turns into a workhorse for guns and ammo for the shooting range. The pack expands and contracts as needed with adjustable straps everywhere. It’s rugged, looks great and supremely versatile.

You can add pouches, etc to the molle system if you want. You will love everything about this pack trust me.

As my work bag it meet all my expectation. Loving the compression straps that allows me to keep my bag tight and secure. As a driver I can store my clothe and toiletries and add additional pouches for my accessories such as maxpedition battery case, maxpedition bottle holder, that are place nicely on the side of the pack.

One of my good investments, form a man that has bought counter of other cheaper brand out there. Like the saying you get what you pay for.

I bought this pack to use during a multi day ultramarathon later this year in Finland. The pack design and harness system is amazing. My only concern is the ventilation in the back area. I find the pack to be very warm while running.

I’m thinking this extra warmth may be ok in Finland, but would hesitate to use the pack in a hot climate. In addition, I would have liked the waist strap adjustment to fit more tightly. Overall, I’m happy with the purchase and would recommend to others.

Love this daypack! I just got back from Alaska and I couldn’t be more impressed with my Hajker 24L. I completed numerous runs, hikes, and the Hajker fit perfect (no pack bounce/no sore shoulders due to the strap design) with just the right amount of room/pockets for a day’s adventure.

I also really appreciate that the lower side pockets/strap is removable for those shorter hikes and runs.

Love the Hajker 30L. No dancing monkey harness is great. Good pack for single track/enduro. Ultimately bought because I ski as well and it its water proof.

I’m 6′ 2″ (1. 92m) tall and around 131kg (290 lbs). I’m using this backpack for a couple of months, and here are my thoughts. What I like: 1. Color. The green color is a nice one. 2. Overall weight (1.

49kg) 3. Overall fit and back adjustment 4. Shoulder straps, nice width, padding sits on the shoulders and comes forward/down a little past the armpits 5. Vertical Side access zip to get to everything 6.

Vertical zip on the front pocket 7. Top loader, my preference for outdoors use 8. Lower compartment, I use it for medical stuff that are rarely used. 9. Load sits and moves with me, no slack, especially when scrambling 10.

No loose threads in the stitching 11. Straps remain tight and do not come loose What I Dislike: 1. The waist belt is a bit too short for me (290 lbs), no much room for adjustment. If you have a smaller belly, you probably will be fine.

2. Zipped pockets are too small for large phones like the iPhone 12 Pro Max or Galaxy S20 Ultra. I can’t even put my gloves there. They are good for keys, multitool, or some other small stuff. 3. No attachment points on the shoulder straps for stuff like a Walkie talkie, GPS communicator, or knife.

4. It falls over by itself, does not self-support, which is a bit annoying. Not sure about having very light grey on the back and inside of the straps. It gets dirty very quickly. 5. Only one Ice tool loop, but the pack is probably not specifically designed for ice work.

6. The bladder hose outlet is very tight, I have an insulated outer on my Camelbak hose, and I cannot thread it through the hole. This can only be done by disconnecting the hose and threading through before connecting the bladder itself.

7. Not rainproof/resistant. I was hiking around Wallace Falls state park during the light rain for about 5 hours with rain cover around the backpack, and it got wet inside. This is probably my biggest disappointment so far.

Overall I like this pack. I realize some things I like are subjective (e. g. , color), but it is comfortable to carry. I have read some reports from others that their packs squeak, mine does not, so far.

Just because I find it comfortable, you may not. If you want to get one, make sure you check the Osprey web site for advice on back length, then try it on somewhere. If and when you buy one, take some time to load it up and play around with the adjustments till you get it fitted to you.

This pack is great! My husband used it for the first time today and didn’t have one complaint during our 11 mile hike. It packed his rain gear, food, 4 liters of water and other misc gear just fine with room to spare.

He was very please with how comfortable the pack was and he also appreciated the different straps to get the pack more customized to his body. His big backpack we use for multi day hikes doesn’t have a frame, well a minimalist frame if you will, and so he appreciated this backpacks structure.

He loves the blue color as well. It has plenty of different places to stuff little things here and there and he also likes the rain cover that is included. It has its own little pocket at the bottom of the pack.

Great bag for long day hikes !.

I have the Stratos 24 and 36 and they are great packs. Then I purchased the Stratos 34 and it is awesome. Being a panel loader you can see everything that is in your pack when you open it up. The Stratos 24 just wasn’t enough room and lacked the sleeping pad straps.

The Stratos 36 is a great pack for quick overnight or weekend ultralight backpacking trips. The 36 does have a zipper down the side for quick access but you really can’t see what your looking for. The 34 carries the 5 essentials, plus my lunch, MSR Windburner, jacket, gloves, and a hat with enough room to add plenty more.

The 34 doesn’t make you look like a dork when using it as a day pack or commuter pack.

So far it’s been a great backpack – it’s comfortable, spacious, and look great. 2 large main compartments are handy to separate your items; one has a smaller opening but I haven’t had any issues with it.

There are also two smaller compartments and two mesh pockets on the sides for water bottle. So there’s plenty of space for everything you need and think you might need but probably don’t 😀 I got mine in bright blue — if you don’t mind standing out in a crowd, it’s totally worth it! Together with neon zippers it looks awesome.

I don’t think the zippers glow in the dark though. The only small pet peeve is the very long hip straps (you can gain lots of weight and still be able to use them). Still, easy to fix since you can tack them away next to the bottom of the straps.

Very happy with this backpack. Fingers crossed it will last a while 🤞.

I purchased this daypack to have a lighter pack for short hikes and used it for the first time last weekend and it is great! It is just big enough to carry water bottles, snacks, first aid kit with plenty of room for left to spare for other items.

The mesh side pockets each carried a 32 oz. Nalgene water bottle without any issues. The sternum and hip straps provide just enough support for a small daypack. It is small enough to roll up and fit into my hiking backpack.

It is well made and I love the bright, happy colors! The Nano 16 was definitely worth purchasing and I will be taking it out on all my hikes.

Urban style, I use it to bring to work everyday. It has my lunch, a book, rain pancho, umbrella, etc. Camping, I use it like a stuff sack for may 10 essentials for the day. I like that it’s simple: one large compartment, zipper “brain” for my wallet/phone/keys, and two water bottle holders.

Straps have a little padding, enough for what it is. I like the chest strap but will never use the whistle. Took off the “hip belt. ” I wish I could take out the foam pad in the back, but I prefer having it than not having it at all.

Fairly adjustable but I honestly dialed it in 100% the way I want it yet.

IšverstiShow in original languageI like the material and design. I have seen hydration packs that are much more expensive and are of very well known brands and which have features no better or even not as good as this one.

I must emphasize I did not buy it to use as a hydration pack but as a small backpack. I could not speak for the quality of the water resevoir or the long tube/straw. I will probably not use that part anytime soon (of course I may randomly decide to go on a long hike in the woods and find a need for it).

However the backpack is of a good material. Seems quite rugged and well constructed for the kind of material it is. I like the shoulder straps. They have a good feel for mesh materisl, not too flimsy for a lower-priced item, not the kind of material that would really be uncomfortable on a very hot day.

Seems breathabke I must say that I have not yet used this item since I have been unable to go jogging or biking as of the past several months and may not do any outdoor activities for a while. Thus I cannot speak of this item’s usablikty according to any “experience” but for the price this is a decent-enough item of its type.

The backpack part has entry pockets that separate the main compartment into two sides, and you can keep some items separated from each other, wallet, sun glasses, binoculars, candy bar, etc. It seems practical and nicely designed.

It is hard or actually impossible to find a very small backpack like this one which is about 3 to 5 liters (not really referring to the hydration bladdar) so as to just strap on with your essentials inside, house keys, phone, handkerchief, maybe a packable rain poncho or small umbrella, and get going outside.

IšverstiShow in original languageWow! This Hydration Backpack is nifty and came in handy this past weekend. I still took a separate water bottle just in case it failed. It was great! Did not weigh a lot in carrying it and the water was still cold.

I know the weather is not quite hot yet, so looking forward to trying it out as the weather keeps getting hotter. There was no spillage and it was easy to carry. I love the two front pockets. I was able to keep my Android cellphone in there and it fit just right.

The mouthpiece at first took time to get used to but after a few times sipping on it, the became second nature. The quality of this backpack is high quality. There was not rubbing on my shoulder or any discomfort with the material.

A nice sleek and high quality design. I love Ozark products. If you are one of those hikers who do not want to carry a lot and just want to reach for your water, this is it and you do not even notice the water body weight.

IšverstiShow in original languageFor an inexpensive alternative to a Camelback, it can’t be beat. I do have one slight complaint about the mouthpiece, is that it is unintuitive. The symbol and it shows to twist to open, but you actually pull it to open.

Other than that, it works perfectly well, and should serve you for your hydration needs as long as you don’t care about image.

I wanted women’s backpack because the shape in between males and females products differs. I researched backpacks online and found Osprey to be one of the best running backpacks. There should be a pocked for a water bladder in Daylite Day Backpack but this backpack didn’t have it.

Also, I don’t think this version was women’s one because the back was long and therefore the backpack would sit quite high and rub my shoulders when running. I would appreciate if John Lewis is more detailed in specification of their products.

The gender specification in especially sporty equipment is important as it makes all the difference in satisfaction of customers.

Only had it a few days, but first impressions. Hydration features are first rate – easiest bladder I’ve ever used to remove, clean, dry and replace in pack. Wore the pack with 2+ liters of water while mountain biking and was very comfortable and didn’t slosh around.

Slight negative – the magnetic sternum strap buckle is difficult to operate with one hand. I often have to use both hands to get it unlatched. I wonder why they went away from the tried and true one-handed traditional latch.

20 liter pack size worked out well and holds just enough for a longer ride/day trip. Side and back mesh pockets are good size but concerned the elastic will loosen over time – wish there was a cinch-able retaining strap at the top of each side pocket.

Color (ferrous orange) was much better (darker, more subtle) than what appeared to be bright orange on the web site. Durability is one of my concerns so I can’t rate that yet (it’s too early) thus held back one star.

So far – great product.

I needed a decent sized day-hiking pack for our trip to RMNP. I had been carrying an old canvas pack for 20 years, but really needed something better suited to the amount of hiking we do as a family.

I searched for awhile to find the right pack and this was the only one for me. 1. It fit me! I am a tall, curvy girl, and found that many packs really were not able to deal with either my curves or my torso length.

2. Perfect size pack for carrying the necessary gear for dealing with the varying conditions of the mountains in Spring and a lunch. 3. Actual hip belt (not just a skinny thing) with NO belt pockets.

They are great in theory, but I am an arm swinger and had skin irritation from just walking around the store trying out packs. 4. Though hydration wasn’t on my list, it is a new found love after using this pack.

5. I love the juniper blue. Pretty, but not overly girly. The only thing this didn’t have was the rain cover, but that is easily purchased separately. I really could not ask for anything more. Very comfortable and perfect for my needs.

I bought this pack for long day hikes, and I’m very pleased with it! I got it to use instead of a school/office/laptop backpack. I was surprised at how much better it works for hiking! The key is that it has a waist strap that takes weight off of your shoulders and puts it on your hips instead, so you can go farther without your shoulders getting sore.

I have a 30″ waist and I can still get a good fit with the waist strap. It’s very adjustable so that it fits well and feels stable even when climbing up boulders with a full pack. It’s comfortable even after a long day on the trail – my feet get sore before my shoulders do.

The back panel allows for good air circulation so my back doesn’t get all sweaty. It feels very well constructed and durable. This will fit everything I need to go 18+ miles in a day. A typical load for me is 5 liters of water in bottles, a lunch bag, snacks, a small camera bag, and extra layers of clothes.

The outside loops for trekking poles and sunglasses are also useful. I like the side pouches for water bottles, but when I’m using both, it makes the bottom of the pack feel a bit narrow. I haven’t had issues fitting all my things in, but it feels taller than it does wide.

The front pouch expands and is great for carrying layers. For travelling, the back water bladder section can also fit a 15. 6″ laptop snugly. It will fit under a seat on an airplane if not packed too full.

I would definitely buy this pack again, but if I had to get a new one, I would probably get one with the water bladder included because carrying lots of water bottles can feel bulky at times. The only part I don’t like is the top handle because it’s thin.

If it was twice as thick it would make it easier to use. Also, it would be great if it included a luggage tag, because I don’t want to lose it! I would definitely recommend this pack and Gregory as a brand!.

FIT This pack has been great for day hikes and even trail running when I need to pack more. Even when running, this pack can cinch down so there is very little bounce. The waist belt is ultra secure and comfortable.

This is one of the few small day-sized packs I’ve seen with adjustable shoulder strap heights with velcro and I think it really improves the overall fit. FEATURES The zipper loops are easy to grab even with gloves on and I like the quick-stuff exterior pocket for jackets.

The ice ax/trekking pole loops are handy. The two side pockets for water bottles/bear spray are reachable without taking your pack off (yay!). ONLY SLIGHT NEGATIVES The only reasons I give this pack a 4 star rather than a 5 (and really it’s more of a 4.

5) is that the waist pockets are too small to hold modern giant cell phones and I can’t seem to find an easily accessible option for it and the emergency whistle on the front clasp is relatively quiet.

The other reason is I (just aesthetically) did not like the grey and teal color options and wished there was a high-vis or more reflective option.

I bought this to replace a cheap hydration pack I bought years ago on Amazon. I’ve only taken it out once so far, and it was great! I like the teal color and the pops of yellow-green (I tend to like bright colors).

More importantly, it had a great fit! The adjustments were intuitive, and I barely noticed the 3L Gregory bladder I used. I don’t like that I had to buy the bladder separately, but that’s a minor complaint.

Gregory bladders snap in place; there may be compatibility issues with other bladders. This pack has plenty of storage for a day hike. I easily fit a rain jacket, hat, phone, keys, wallet, and bug spray.

I like the smaller pocket at the top and the stretchy pocket at the rear for organization. My iPhone easily fit in the hip pockets. Larger phones might be a tight fit. The hip pockets were a little far back for me, but still reachable.

May or may not be an issue depending on body type (this pack also comes in plus size). I couldn’t get larger water bottles in the side pockets, but I suspect user error since nobody else seems to have that problem.

This was the best ventilated pack at my local REI, but my back still got sweaty. I think I just need to accept that my back will always be sweaty here in the famously hot and humid American Southeast.

Overall, I’m very happy with my purchase!.

I live near several trails, so I often do shorter loops (5-7 miles) several times per month, just for exercise and fresh air. But my Citro 24L is overkill for that, so I wanted something a bit smaller, and I’m a huge fan of Gregory.

This pack is super lightweight, the pocket on the brain is a good size, and I like the additional side zippered pocket, since I never carry two bottles on the outside. However, there’s a couple minor dings that prevented 5 stars.

One is the really small opening to the main compartment. It’s really narrow, making it difficult to get anything further down. And the trampoline back is nice, but it’s sort of recessed into the pack, so when it’s flat on your back, it doesn’t provide as much airflow as the arched ones.

A pocket underneath the brain would have been nice, as well as maybe gear loops for trekking poles, but if you want all those additional features, just get a bigger pack. However, if you want a minimalist type pack that’s super light, this is great.

It is a really nice pack, but doesn’t fit my lady body well at all. The straps don’t wrap around me well, but end up sticking out funny near my breasts instead of curving around like they should. They are almost perpendicular to my body! I also bought the Kalmia 60 Plus Size and it fits great! Therefore, like most things in this world, “gender neutral” really means “fit for a man, but I guess we should market it to women too because they are used to suffering with men’s things not really working for them.

” For reference, I typically wear a woman’s 2X shirt and have a 18″ torso.

I purchased this pack about a month ago and have used it on all my hikes (3-7 miles). I love it so much! I had REI’s Flash 22 but wanted something with a bit more structure, a trampoline back, and no hip belt.

After much searching, I came across the Arrio 18 and it checks all the boxes. I do wish there was another small interior pocket, but I have more than enough space. I also wish there were more color choices, and in brighter shades, as I like to be more visible with my pack.

Over the past few years I have used this pack to carry all of the essentials during MTB bike park rides, on day long cycle trail rides and on multi-day bike packing adventures. In all I’ve covered more than 10,000 miles with this beauty on my back.

It’s thoughtful organizing layout makes it difficult to leave anything important behind and it’s always quick to find that essential item of the moment. It is just big enough to complement the bags attached to my bike but not so large that it ever becomes a burden.

It is nice to be able to head straight to the cafe or grocery store knowing I have all I need on my back. This pack is so comfortable. I am pleased to see it now has an integrated rain cover for when visibility or keeping the contents dry is important.

The only improvement I would appreciate is having side gussets for storing extra water bottles when riding through a parched landscape on those long bike packing trips.

I was so psyched to receive this bag – a smaller sized back pack in a feminine print, with cool details like a bottle holder, place for an ipad-tablet-small laptop, headphones, pockets and great organization and storage.

Its everything I didnt know I needed in a day bag! I took it on a weekend trip to a casino – it allowed me to shove all my travel junk in it easily, organized, and within quick reach, I fot two days worth of clothes in it, no problem.

I took it hiking – light, feminine, water resistent, doesnt easily dirty and easy to clean if it does get a little messy. I even used it as my workk bag, schlepping it to the office with all my computer gear, water bottle, lunch, wallet, keys – it fit everything perfectly and was easy to carry.

I love the extra support straps around the chest and waist in case you do have to carry osmething more weighty on your back – you can look cute and orgnized and not destroy your spine in the process! Its just so versatile, fun, and I just love the organizational aspects of it.

Carrying a mid to large sized bag usually means a gaping abyss of stuff thrown in the bottom of a tote or backpack; this bag truly bridges the gap for me for form, function, and organization, and it can be used for so many things: Picnic? Check.

Commute? Check. Weekend getaway? Check. Hiking, outdoor day trip? Check. When you combine two great brands like Coleman and Vera Bradley, you get a winning bag that takes a beating and looks good doing it.

The material for the new daypack is fantastic. Easy to clean, resists dust-dirt, very useful for a nice day hike. The two pockets on the side can hold waterbottles or other need to reach quick items.

The inside of the daypack has a small zipper mesh pocket for keys, earbud cases, etc. In that small zipper pocket it has a key clip. There’s another larger pocket on the inside that is very convenient for small to medium sized items.

The inside is perfect sized for say hiking needs. On the outside there’s another zipper pocket. The daypack is extremely comfortable. The shoulder straps are perfect width and padding. There are clips to be able to clip the backpack around waist and chest.

The only thing I wish the daypack had that it doesn’t is an elastic band on each of the areas for excess so the strap pulls aren’t dangling.

This is a great bag for going somewhere where you might need a little more than your purse. If you are hiking or being active the pockets give you plenty of places to stash snacks, waterbottles actually fit in the side pockets, and a special pocket for sunglasses-glasses or even your phone.

There is a hole at the top so if you do carry a camel water pack it will work with this bag. The fabric is easy to clean and keep clean! My only complaint is that this bag was not made for someone over the XL size.

The sternum strap is snug if you have a large chest but thankfully could be removed. The waist strap is too small for me but could be tucked away into the pocket at the bottom of the bag. I think this is a common problem for larger ladies as the slings and fanny packs have the same issue.

Maybe an extender needs to be offered for these situations. Overall I do like the day pack and plan to use it often!.
