20 Best Husqvarna Chainsaw For Logging (2023 Updated)

I’m disabled with severe muscle and tendon tears in the left half of my back and two crushed discs, and thus in severe pain 24/7/365. Once one is surviving on disability, it’s impossible to afford most services of companies to do things for you anymore, so it now becomes things one has to do on their own.

One of those things was figuring out how to save on bills, like the electric bill, and a wood stove for the winter was a superb example. Once the money was saved up to get the stove and piping for it (and put up myself, which was really fun with my back!), now I needed wood.

There was no way I could afford to buy wood. So decided no matter the pain, I would have to cut and split my own. Living in the country made it easy to find trees that were down from storms – in peoples’ yards, or where I could get to them easily.

Many trees were already halfway seasoned. One tree in particular, a black walnut, was old and dead and hard as rock. I got the 455 Rancher because of the price and because it seemed to have good specs.

I’ve used it for almost two years and it runs good and gets the job done. Once in a while it may give a fart in summer time and give trouble starting, but not often. It’s not powerful, but I got the black walnut cut up in 18″ pieces (limbs that I didn’t have to split) pretty easily.

The trunk, having a 3′ diameter, was another creature. The 20″ bar made it a little hard to do, but the motor at least had just enough power to get as much as I could out of that trunk. I think I had to stop at about 2′ diameter which left about 35′ of trunk (I wish I’d had the money to have it taken to the sawmill and cut into long slabs so I could have made a really nice desk out of it.

I mean think of it, black walnut, a *beautiful* wood for furniture!). It’s a tough little chainsaw. It even got run over by my ’90 Chevy half ton truck and all it got were some rubber marks on the case and ran like nothing had happened to it.

It’s still not a *powerful* saw, so keep that in mind. It can do large trees *IF* one knows what they’re doing, but will take a while longer to do them. A sharp chain is an *extreme* must with this saw so that the engine doesn’t have to work so hard.

I’d recommend this chainsaw mainly for smaller stuff than I used it for. I always wished I’d gotten something *meant* for the things I was using/needing a chainsaw for. This saw was great at doing anything with trees that were 1′ diameter or smaller.

It’s easy to use, easy to start, easy to clean. It does have a little trouble after a while with the bar oil feeder. it starts to give a lot more than is needed and adjusting it doesn’t seem to help.

I never could figure out how to fix it, but it didn’t use it up so fast I needed to keep gallons and gallons around, just starts using a little more than is really necessary, that’s all. It’s a little heavy, for just a saw for mostly homeowners with small tree and shrub work to do, but since it takes a beating and keeps running, this is the ticket for those folks.

Overall, if you don’t plan to cut timber larger than 1′ in diameter, this is the saw to get, especially because the price is nice and deals can be found all over easily.

My 455 Rancher is currently with a dealer awaiting warranty service approval. Generally, I praise Husqvarna in quality, so I likely bought a rare defective item from Lowe’s. It’s to be noted, that Lowe’s and there employees proved thoroughly useless in assistance.

This 455 Rancher behaved oddly from the start with the brake handle being a bit vibratory. With perhaps no more than 20 hours actual run time on the chainsaw, while cutting a log, it seized and the cover plate along with the entire brake clutch assembly shot off and out into the woods.

Always wear PPE, less I might have lost an eye and some finger to shrapnel. The coil spring for the braking mechanism looked like a stretch slinky. The plastic mounting components were shredded. Again, I think this a fluke against Husqvarna’s usual quality and reliability.

Hopefully, there warranty and service department will prove above average and replace the unit.

I bought this saw as a replacement for a Husqvarna I had for over 25 years. That saw was a beast and and I cut many a tree with it. It was extremely durable and just kept on running. After 25 years it started giving me more trouble than it was worth so I bought this Rancher.

I can’t speak to the durability of this one yet as I’ve only had it for a few month and have only cut one large Cherry tree and some misc. debris across a 4 wheeler trail but it doesn’t seem to have the power that my old Husqvarna did? It cuts well but it seems like it struggles a bit more than my old one.

Also, after that one tree (it was a big one) and those few smaller downed trees, the chain was so dull it almost wouldn’t cut anymore. I’m happy enough with the saw and time will tell on how well it holds up but it just doesn’t seem to have the power of my old one and I’m not sure why the chain would get so dull so fast?.

I was hesitating between the 445e, the 455 Rancher, and the 545 Mark II to clear some land for a food plot for deer hunting in the deep woods. The 455 Rancher is more powerful but weighs significantly more so I crossed that one out pretty quickly.

Working with a heavy chainsaw it not fun, unless you’re standing still and just cutting through a pile of stacked wood to make firewood. On the lighter side, the 445e and 545 Mark II are almost the same weight but the 545 Mark II has a more powerful engine, a magnesium casing, and a couple of other “prosumer” features, but it costs 45% more.

Knowing how good Husqvarna products are, I took a chance on the 445e as an all-rounder. I figured I could always return it and spend more on the 545 Mark II if I really hated it. Well, I was not disappointed.

The 445e is a beast. I felled and chopped up over 20 trees (mostly birch, maple, and spruce) in a single day with this chainsaw and it never hesitated. It went through the wood like a hot knife through butter.

I also used it to clear some trail, cut firewood, and clean up a campsite and it has handled everything I’ve thrown at it brilliantly. Out of the box, it started on the second pull, and it started on the first pull every single time since.

The choke is easy to work, the off switch is convenient, and the gas and oil caps are well-designed. It is light, easy and comfortable to handle, and it doesn’t vibrate too much. It also doesn’t leave you with the mouth-full-of-exhaust feeling at the end of the day.

I do not regret saving $350 and going with the 445e. I cannot imagine needing more chainsaw than this unless I was spending hours cutting hardwood for firewood multiple times a week and desperately needed to shave some time off that chore, or if I was felling giant trees that require a very long bar.

For everything else, the 445e is the way to go!.

I bought the Rancher 450 chainsaw in Dec-2021 and it worked great right out-of-the-box. Generally speaking, the weight is good, the low vibration is a plus, it has great cutting power, does well on gas and will start on 2 or 3 pulls when cold.

Now for the downside. In following the manual I kept the first use to <10mins and only used it on small limbs (4" at most) without any issues. For the second use I ran it ~20mins and on slightly larger limbs (6"-10"), again no issues.

By the third use I was cutting fallen tree trunks (up to 18″) for 15mins and the chain came off. Odd, but not a huge problem. However, when putting the chain back onto the bar I noticed that the sprocket at the tip of the bar was locked and would not spin.

After fiddling with it and applying oil it eventually freed. Before the fourth use I noticed that when manually moving the chain around the bar the sprocket would randomly lock. The chain would no longer go in the forward direction and backing it off in the opposite direction would free it.

I started it up, began cutting and within 10mins the chain once again came off. As well, the sprocket was locked and this time the drive links were damaged to the point where the chain no longer fit into the bar guide.

By the time I got it into the local dealer it was, of course, 6 days beyond the 90 day warranty for the bar. The dealer did offer to open a pre-approved claim with Husqvarna for the chain and it would take 1-2 business days to process.

Great, right? Well, after 2 weeks and making numerous calls to the dealer to check on the status I was eventually told they could not help me. It wasn’t that Husqvarna denied the claim, just that they could no longer help.

apparently submitting the claim was more of a big deal that I thought. Yes, I am just a weekend warrior type but this is not my first chainsaw. I have had others by another manufacturer (rhymes with “Mulan”) which were decent enough but needed replacing every 4-5yrs after moderate use.

I finally decided to spend the money and get a good one but now I’m not sure that I made the right choice. And a quick search online tells me that I am not the only person to have issues with the bar.

I process 10+ cords of firewood a season depending on how much I can get my grubby little hands on in addition to doing quite a bit of fire mitigation work. I have run a 562xp (and a Jred 2260 and 2252) pretty hard all year long at over 9,000ft of elevation for the past few years.

This saw has PLENTY of power to process the relatively small diameter lodge pole and Doug Fir I burn up here in the Rockies. Power to weight is awesome on all of these pro-grade husky saws and the 562 is no exception.

Very smooth to run all day. Starts up extremely easy, even at this elevation and the autotune avoids having to fiddle fk with a carb, not that I’m opposed to that, it just saves time. And they run pretty hard all day.

The autotune has worked great on all three saws with exception of the hotstart issues I had on a 550xp Mk1. My only complaint is that Husqvarna SHOULD RELEASE THE AT DIAGNOSTIC TOOL OUTSIDE OF THE DEALERSHIP NETWORK.

It’s absolute garbage that I can’t run diagnostics a carb or update firmware at home. Not a unique problem though, Stihl does the same nonsense with M-tronic.

This chainsaw is very versatile. When I had a wood burning stove I would head out into the forest to build my cache of wood for the winter. I could easily hike the side of a ridge with the chainsaw, spot felled trees and cut through them like a hot knife through butter.

Anyone reading these reviews knows how handy it is to have a chainsaw in the back of your truck, especially when the winds are howling. Blocked road. no problem. Tree needs limbing, got it. Great brand, features and price.

This Husqvarna chainsaw is an awesome chainsaw. The 16-inch blade is perfect for cutting down trees and trimming branches. The chainsaw comes ready to use in the box. It has one oil pack, which needs to be mixed with 1 gallon of gasoline.

It does not come with chain oil, so be sure to buy this. The instructions to use and maintain are very clear. There are also plenty of videos online to show how to use and operate the chainsaw.

I picked up the 135 Mark II about a month ago when I was at my Husqvarna dealer buying mower deck parts. It was an impulsive buy with Federal COVID 19 stimulus money. I haven’t bought a new saw in 25 years and my old Husky is still going strong but I couldn’t resist getting it.

Got it home and added bar oil and gas and I was up and running on the 2nd pull. The technology has certainly improved over 25 years. I buy my fire wood in log lengths and cut 10 cords and fell a few trees a year and this saw is definitely up to those tasks with ease.

I would recommend this saw for theses uses. Other then rotating my bar and touching up the chain which is regular maintenance on any saw,I have had no complaints with this saw. It’s a nice quality smaller saw that isn’t under powered and performs well.

The chainsaw arrived promptly minimal scratches good appearance and well packaged. I have owned operated worked/sharpened various saws as a 2+ acre homeowner. Never had one this big and powerful. I immediately inspected assembled the 460 and found it to be a 2019 model which at first alarmed me.

Upon further inspection found minimal wear on drive and clutch no slop ,new 24″bar n chain and very clean appearance. Filled with fuel and bar chain oil-would run (3rd pull) but was slow to respond idle rough.

Popped open the top cover and found clean used air cleaner with a small crack on one of the corners pulled plug found it fouled oily. Very good compression -couldn’t keep finger on sparkplug hole when cranking later checked found 120#s+.

Replaced plug with my Poulan 16″ spare fired right up 2nd pull ran strong trigger pull gives a pistol like braaapp cut some 15inch mesquite like they were butter-Cadillac Style! Chain oiling system adjusted down one click.

My take on this saw is buy it if you have some mechanical skills (evidently if you are buying such a serious saw) want quality but not so pricey top of the line saw. Cannot beat the price for a USED Husky saw and they promptly sent the new air cleaner and spark plug -very satisfied -EC.

I picked up the first 440 saw this past Sunday with a gallon of the husqvarna premix (50:1) and after filling up the gas tank and chain oil reservoir, and following the cold start instructions precisely, the saw simply refused to start.

After numerous attempts, which included inspecting the spark plug gap and testing for visual spark, the results were the same. Next I tried draining the fuel path (lines, bulbs, reservoir) and using a different fuel source (precisely 1.

00 gallon of 87 fuel mixed w/ 50:1 oil included mixture). I returned it to the store and got another brand new 440, went through the same setup steps, except this time I used the fuel mix I had prepared, and same results.

Regardless of how many pulls I did (with choke on) this new one also refused to start. While also inspecting the plug there was some small traces of burn residual which I would suspect was from testing the engine during the manufacturing process.

In any case, considering that both units came from the same store, I’m pretty sure both units probably also rolled off the assembly line together. In any case it’s a disappointing experience, and a let down to go through the effort and still end up with the same failed results.

As my first gas-powered chainsaw, this has been excellent so far. Moving to a wooded farmhouse with several trees that have fallen over the past couple years and knew my electric saw was completely out of the question.

So far, I only have about 3-4 hours total working time with the Husqvarna, and some of that was obviously arranging the downed trees and logs to be cut up. Several of the logs cut have been hardwood and it has cut right through with little issue.

The chain slipped off the sprocket once, but that was user error in getting the bar pinched and not realizing quickly enough, just a few minutes to get the side plate off, reposition the chain, side plate on and bar tensioned and it was back to work.

The only thing I was concerned with prior to purchasing was the 20″ bar instead of the 24″ on the 465, but so far I have been able to handle everything I’ve come across. One downed tree I got to a a section that was about 22″ in diameter and just made my cut from both sides.

Sure the longer bat would have been a single cut, but i think for general handling this bar is just fine and I can learn how to cut the bigger stuff if i need to. There is plenty more to cut up and a few dead trees to fell around the property.

Will update if anything changes on my initial thoughts.

Not your father’s 450. The older 450’s were beast that made other brands look bad but this is a newer style that’s more like the 235’s. The sprocket broke on the 4th tank of gas and it’s not interchangeable with the older sprockets.

It cranked and ran great but then the chain started to drag. I tried a new chain but there’s something inferior with the bar that came with it. The bar sproket still moves freely but the chain is locking up.

There is only one bolt holding the bar. The allows slipping and the chain quickly gets loose. I’m still giving it 3 stars because it cranks so easily and weighs a lot less and the price makes it affordable.

I won’t buy another one if I see one bolt holding the bar. I can’t begin to imagine why the company would change the sproket. It makes my backup parts worthless. Worse. when you try to get replacements its difficult to know what you are going to get.

Probably won’t work. Sorry. I’ve cut 100’s of tons of paperwork and couldn’t imagine husqvarna letting me down like this.

This was was purchased to clean up after an ice storm brought down a sycamore and maple. The 18 inch bar on the 450 Rancher was perfectly adequate to bring down an old dead cherry tree with 30 inch trunk.

The saw was comfortable and light enough for a middle aged office working man to handle comfortably. Very easy to start and runs well with a fuel:oil mix. One thing that was not clear to me was how tight the clutch/adjuster bolt has to be after tensioning the chain.

If that nut is not very snug the clutch will not operate correctly and the chain will drag and the motor will stall or not start. The clutch spring mechanism was allowed to slip and the plastic housing gouged.

It still seems to operate fine when sufficiently tightened and if it fails, the plastic covers are available readily at the time of writing this.

I bought this chainsaw from the Saskatoon store in Confederation a month ago. Absolute worst purchase ever. This saw has zero power and stalls out every time. Changing the chain is near impossible a few guys at work tried and so far the fastest change took about an hour.

The lock always sticks on and its near impossible to cut anything when the chain wont spin. Ive owned a few chainsaws over the years and loved Poulan and Stihl brands. Good power in them, fast easy chain swaps and reliable.

Husqvarna is total junk nothing but problems right from day 1. Id avoid this brand like the plague nothing but headaches and agravation.

Chainsaw was in good condition with just a few minor cosmetic scuffs. This one needed the carb adjusted for best results. After adjusting the low jet and high jet along with the idle the saw ran like a champ.

I used a tachometer to help with carb adjustments. I suggest to know how to do this or have someone else who does so the saw runs as it should. Best to use fuel with no ethanol however if ethanol blended fuel is used a fuel stabilizer designed for ethanol will help keep the fuel from absorbing water which is hard on engines.

All in all a very good deal considering the reduced cost of $200 vs a new 455 Rancher.

I have been working with chainsaws for 40 years. I’ve been an arborist, tree feller, limber, skidder operator, I’ve worked in lumber mills, and I even carve ice, I have bought probably a hundred chainsaws in my life.

I nearly lost half my hand with a climbing saw. I have the hamburger hand to prove it. On October 4th 2020 I purchased a Husqvarna 435E chainsaw from Lowe’s. After getting home and setting up the saw, I started it.

Even though I had engaged the chain brake as I do by habit before starting a saw. To my surprise after the second pull, the saw started and spooled up instantly. I nearly cut my leg off and almost killed my dog.

I stopped the saw and took the side plate off. The brake band is completely missing, not installed, making the chain brake useless. How can you allow saw to leave your factory without a chain brake?.

Saw was purchased brand new 4 months ago. 2 weeks ago it started great, now it won’t start. It’s only ever had Husqvarna pre-mixed fuel and Chain Oil in it. First time using a Husqvarna product and was very disappointed.

There customer service is terrible to, it’s a big pain to talk to anyone and to get service done. Now I have to wait 3 weeks for a repair center to diagnose the problem. 2 stars because when it works, it works well.

Bought this chainsaw 2 weeks ago, used for 2 times only. Used premixed fuel with manufacturer’s two-stroke oil. Very difficult to get it started with normal operation, had to pull trigger and pull starter cord.

After it was started, it didn’t stay running unless I pull the trigger and ran the saw. I felt dangerous to use this chainsaw.

I think I have about 6 hours of use with it so far. At first, I was a little disappointed when I got home with it and put it next to my 30 year old Stihl- it seemed so light weight I thought I didn’t buy enough saw for my needs.

But, on the first use, it started on the 4th pull. It doesn’t seem to have what I’d describe as “low RPM grunt” for lack of a technical term. If the chain gets snagged on small brush when you’re just getting started, it doesn’t have the power to tear through it before the engine is up to speed.

However, when I’m actively cutting, I’m pleased at how fast and smooth it cuts. I’ve been able to cut a lot more firewood than I usually do. Also, I’m amazed at how little fuel it uses. I’m used to taking a break with every fillup (which seemed like every 20 minutes with my old saws).

It’s too soon to comment on reliability, but so far I’m very pleased with this purchase.

I have not used the chainsaw much except to cut down a large oak tree. I wore out my previous saw cutting down so many trees. This saw has plenty of power and tore through the wood like butter. No problems with it at all.

I do have a bit of a problem holding the saw steady when pulling on the recoil rope because of I guess high compression. I tried putting my boot into the handle per instructions but my winter boots were to big.

I am 70 years old so probably weaker than other people using the saw. Anyway, I would buy it again with no hesitation. I did a lot of research on chainsaw brands and found this specific model has high marks compared to others.

I think it’s fair to say know more than the average bear about usability. I’m professor of human factors research at two medical schools (Univ of Penn and Univ at Buffalo), My Husqvarna chain saw has excellent handling and balance.

The safety features are also very well designed. Last, the ability to cut is superior to any chain saw I’ve every had.

Good quality affordable chain saw. Just felled and sned 3 gnarly old fruit trees. Saw handled well. For such a small saw its quite powerful, started struggling through around 40cm trunk but I think this was more the angle of my cut and the weight of the tree resting on the bar.

I took it out started again and there were no issue.

Out of the box started in 3 pulls, and broken in 3 or less pulls. You need to know that this saw has a recoil starter, and should not be drop pulled. Why? The first 1/2 of the starter rope coils a spring, and when it gets woundit lets go into the last 1/2 of the rope pull making your effort much less.

I think that’s called an easy start. It really works. I have a 39 cc Homelite that rips my arm off starting it. Just gave it away. Saw has an inertia brake in addition to the hand brake. Say you are making a horizontal cut, well any kickback will not engage the hand brake.

So saw won’t come up at your head but may hit somebody near you. I would use the husky premix gas if you can afford it. You can sore the saw with this fuel for nearly 2 years without any problems. This is the best value in saws, I was going to buy a Stihl but if you go to their websiteand read their reviews they have a lot of unhappy customers.

So far so good i have only had it a few weeks. Starts easy and cuts well. I have felled a few large trees and a lot of small 3-4 inch trees so far and it has worked welI. I always cut everything into 18in peices to burn, either for the house or to burn outside when camping.

I did purchased a gallon of premixed fuel and registered the saw. The purchase of the premix extends the warranty. I previously had the smaller 335 saw for over 10 years and it did great for the farm and keeping firewood for the winter.

It finally gave out over the summer while cutting a very large old dead ash. I hope this 445 does as well and lasts as long as the smaller saw did.

I used this saw to buck a 30-inch diameter tree with no problems. I then used it this past weekend to get my Forest Service chainsaw certification. This was done at a high altitude, above 8000 ft, where a lot of the saws present were having trouble starting and running.

This saw performed flawlessly throughout the demanding trials necessary to get certified. Even the lead instructor tried it out and was impressed with its easy starting and operation. I will be carrying this saw on local Sierra Nevada off-road vehicle trails and local hiking trails to clear fallen trees with some local Forest Service volunteers.

At 10 lbs, I can backpack it into some remote areas not accessible to vehicles to clear fallen trees. It was also considerably cheaper than the equivalent Stihl model and performed better in reviews I’ve seen online.

Overall, a great medium-sized saw.

First off, I used to be a professional lumberjack. I just bought a Husqvarna saw. Bought brand new jerry can for gas. Properly mixed 50:1 oil with premium gasoline. Saw died after 6 hours. Still under warranty.

Brand new saw. Have proof of all my purchases and Husqvarna just said I mixed fuel improperly w/o any proof. I said I have all the proof that I didn’t and they said doesn’t matter. Every time I reached out with more proof and evidence they gave me another run around and excuse.

Their machine malfunctioned after 6hrs and they won’t honor the warranty. It’s so frustrating because I didn’t do anything wrong. The dealer I called told me Husqvarna doesn’t honor their warranty anymore and that there is nothing I can do.

Buyer beware. I’ll be buying Stihl from now on as I’ve heard they honor their warranty.

I got this for my husband based on reviews both on the net and on YouTube. He has two other Husqvarna chainsaws for smaller work but he needed something for very large hardwoods that fell during two large storms.

We have 7 acres of land that are heavily wooded. I am a Stihl gal, but this purchase sold me on the Husqvarna product. It is easy to start. It was like a plug-and-play. It didn’t stall out ever, it is incredibly powerful and he is extremely happy with it.

I recommend going to Youtube and checking out what others have to say about this chainsaw, you will not be disappointed.

Purchased this chainsaw because it had a 24” bar. This saw will get the job done quick. As with any saw this size it’s a little heavier than most but it’s very well balanced and while using it I didn’t find that it mattered.

The saw has plenty of power and we have great luck with all of the husky saws we own. The 455 and above saws will do quick work if you’re clearing or doing storm cleanup. I prefer Husky over Stihl.

I decided on the Husqvarna 435 because I needed something for cutting limbs and branches and smaller trunks. I have a 460 rancher, and it has proven to be a workhorse when cutting anything over 16 inches in diameter.

But I don’t need a 24″ bar all the time. I was very satisfied with the 435 for several reasons. One, it cranked very easily. It warmed up very quickly, and it literally went through the limbs and several tree trunks like a knife through butter.

I know everybody says that, but it’s true. Very lightweight and easy to handle. Even felled a few 6 to 8 in diameter trees with it. One was a double White oak trunk, the two trees have grown together about a foot and a half up, and after I filled the two trees, which were about 7″ in diameter, I cut cookies out of the conjoined trunk at the bottom.

The song went right through them with minimal effort. The blade is still sharp, although I will probably touch up the filing a little bit before the next time I use it. I ran it on and off for about 2 hours this weekend.

Seasoned white oak, red oak, sweetgum, green white oak, and green-black walnut were not a match for it. It cut them all equally as well. Also, it had plenty of power but was lightweight enough to control any hint at a kickback.

I would highly recommend it.

This has been a headache since the day I purchased it. It leaked bar oil and gasoline right off the shelf. It then spent 2 weeks in the service department. They said they fixed it, but it continued to leak oil everywhere.

Took it back for another 2-week visit. It stopped leaking oil, but would not idle correctly. I adjusted the idle, but then it wouldn’t stay running. It will either idle so fast that the chain spins like crazy.

I took it to another shop, and they told me to get another chainsaw. After new spark plug, filter, and fuel line, it just doesn’t work. It was safe to operate because the chain would just keep spinning.

The brake would stop it, but as soon as you released the brake, it was full speed again. Terrible product.

Purchased new in January 2018. Light weight, adequate power, and a good fit for my needs for occasional trimming of trees. Ran Husqvarna XP+ Premix Fuel-Oil which extended the warranty from 2-years to 4-years.

Meticulously cleaned and maintained. Wouldn’t start last week so I took it to the dealer. Received a call a few days later informing me that the piston and cylinder were badly scored and trash less than 4 months out of warranty and very low hours.

I guess it’s up to Husqvarna which brand of chainsaw I buy next.

This Husqvarna chainsaw replaced my Stihl which I had for 19 years. The chain tension adjustment needs a supplied tool and is robust and easy to use. There is no visible oil or fuel gauge. The Husqvarna is well built and easy to use and worked out cheaper than the equivalent Stihl model.

It is an excellent saw when you get it started. It has the same problem many 435 & 440’s have. It will go into compression lock and you cannot get a full pull on the starter rope. If you let it rewind and pull again you can get it started eventually.

Once you warm it up this problem disappears. My 135 now has 8 tanks of gas through it. I have replaced the starter pulley, but I think it needs a four lug pulley instead of the two lug one.

I bought this a bit over a year ago. I have not used it a lot, but bought as a trail saw for when 4 wheeling and camping. Despite the small amount of use, it starts easy and runs strong whenever called to service.

Wish I could say that about all of my two-stroke gear.

I was a little skeptical at first about this saw. I ran the new stihl 661 and Echo cs800p and the husky 395xp. All with same 115 skip tooth chain on 36” bar. First the echo just wasn’t strong enough.

Great saw and very well built but needs more power so that left the stihl and husky. The stihl was a huge disappointment. The new auto adjust carb/injection just isn’t developed and I notice more vibration in the saw itself during cutting.

It seemed to have power but I could quickly tell that something major has changed and just didn’t get the confidence I have had with them over the last 35 years. So then came the husky trial. I really try to buy American but this saw is no stranger to us in the logging industry.

This saw has a ton of power and is very very smooth! I don’t like the chain adjustment design but that is the only fault I could find. So part two. me being the stubborn American I am I pulled out a 42” and 50” thinking maybe I just needed to treat the stihl like a cat and “load it down a little “ result blew my mind.

the stihl completely failed and was like denutted dog. The husky didn’t seem the care what bar it ran it just wasn’t stopping cutting! So read as you like but I can’t speak highly enough about this saw! Like it so much I bought a 3120 to run a6’ stumping bar and have only used it two tanks but am really impressed.

I owned one 395 XP until they stole it last year and I enjoyed every single cut. This is the reason why I ordered a new one now. The 395 XP comes from the 3 series of Husky saws which if the best line of saws Husqvarna makes.

This is my opinion. This line is a very solid line of products, very reliable and does not require any gas pump as the other series. The saw is heavy even fully equipped and provides terrific power when you cut.

I use this saw for big trees and bucking for vertical cuts. It cuts a 6 ft wide oak tree like nothing where other saws have issues. The saw body is solid MG alloy construction, slim makes the saw easy to carry despite the weight.

When you do bucking you just need to hold the say it cuts by herself through. My saw comes with a 20-inch bar and I put the oiler on the smallest level. There is a screw on the bottom for adjustment.

Since the cylinder displacement is 95cc the deco button is a great help when you start the cold saw. When it’s warm, just pull. The air filter of the saw is big and located just located underneath the top cover.

There is an opening you can also shut for winter usage. The saw comes with a fleece filter, however, when you run the saw in snowy condition it’s a good idea to change to a mesh filter. The reason is that the fleece filter may clog in cold conditions where the mesh one does not.

A filter change is just a question of minutes. Since this saw comes with 7 horses this saw is not for newbies. You need experience when you want to run this saw. Its also no saw you wish to carry all day long.

I use it for my heavy jobs and safe tremendous time. I am running chisel chains on this saw only. This provides me with the fastest results. Summary: A wonderful saw, wonderful ridged design, cuts all, not for newbies, please.

This saw is well known – but here are a few things to be cautious about. The bolts and screw that hold the muffler/exhaust on come loose and the muffler on mine cracked along with the brace that holds it within 12 hours of use.

The crew that holds the choke lever came loose also. The top-end case screws also vibrated loose. Pretty solid saw with great power – bad assembly.

I got a great deal on this power head on auction. It was shipped in a reasonable amount of time and arrived without damage. I bought a 36″ sugihara bar, a used full wrap handle, Archer full skip chisel chain.

I registered it with Husqvarna, got extended 3 year warranty by purchasing three quarts of their pre-mixed fuel. The only thing I’ve put in it so far. I fired it up warmed it up shut it down to cool off a couple times before I used it.

Sucker shreds.

I know own my third of these saws. I use them as a weekend arborist as an in tree for large branches and trunking along as for felling. The first one overheated because my fuel wasn’t right and AutoTune over corrected and burned up the piston.

It had 5 years of hard use so I can’t argue that one much. The second was just 1. 5 years old and just stopped running while cutting a pine trunk. I wasn’t even working it that hard and it was cutting perfect when it quit.

It had never given me any problems and I had taken care of it between jobs to keep it ready for the next. Now it starts hard and won’t idle. The local shop were I bought it says they found dirt in the cylinder that got past the filter.

I have the extended warranty on it but dirt past the filter isn’t covered. The filter is a know issue with these saws and has since been upgraded to a sealing screw on type. Kits are available for the old ones too.

I can’t help but feel like the filter should have been a recall and the saw should still be covered if it was a known defect. I got another of the same saw because I like the size and weight in the tree.

I also hope the problems with the filter and AutoTune have been fixed. It’s a great saw and has only let me down twice, but Husqvarna’s warranty and service has let me down everytime.

Love the saw. It rips through wood! It was my go to saw. until it quit. It has ran perfectly for a few years but a few months ago during a storm clean up it just stopped. Was running fine and then it would only idle.

Took it to the shop and they replaced the carb and also stated they found dust in the cylinder that got through the filter. Apparently this is a design issue because they offer an upgraded filter. The carb replacement was not cheap and only can be done at a dealer.

It is my understanding that a new Autotune carb is shipped and has to be flashed to install. Now I’m afraid to use the saw for fear that it will cost me $200+ to fix again. I am currently looking to buy one of the few non-autotunes Husky still makes.

The saw cuts really fast with the supplied chain. The bar is lacking a grease fitting on the nose – why? Unexpected is the needle bearing that needs greasing requiring disassembly of the saw to reach it.

I have several less expensive saws of the same brand and none have this bothersome requirement. Starting requires first flooding and then starting choke off with a wide open throttle – the instructions on starting are useless.

There are websites that discuss how to start this particular model! Ease of starting is a major issue.

Great little saw. Had a 445 for 8yrs, and recently it’s been getting more and more tired, used for all jobs big and small, and quite a few that I really shoulda had a more robust saw. I live on a fully wooded property and usually lose a tree or 2 or big limbs during storms, cut it for firewood to sell or for myself, or buck it for lumber.

I wanted a magnesium case, non-autotune, 2 bar nuts, adjustable oiler, lightweight, a little more power than the 445, and an aluminum handle, so that put me in the XP series. This fit the bill. Only put about a gallon of gas through it, never an issue.

Love the adjustable oiler. No complaints on vibration. Sometimes starts on 2 pulls, sometimes about 5. Haven’t noticed it getting hot like the 445 did on bigger hardwood. Great power delivery. Super easy to check the air filter.

Super light and that took me a little getting used to. The choke lever seems a little flimsy but it works as it should and hasn’t broken. I really don’t see anything on it that could be a longevity concern.

No complaints, maybe a little pricey, but for the quality and performance of this light saw, I love it. You have to realize, just because it’s an XP, it’s 43cc but with more power than a 445, and you can’t expect it to run like a 372 or 365 power-wise.

I have this saw as extension to my line of saws. Body as magnesium alloy makes it light, 0. 050 slim chain makes it fast cutting. The supplied H30 chain lasts long between next sharpening. Mine is with heated handles and carburator which makes the saw a perfect winter saw.

If you can get one, the heated handles (G option) are such a neat thing. Maintains blood circulation in the cold. Since the carburator is heated too the saw runs great in the cold. It starts very easy as all my Husky saws, just follow the procedure and run Acylat has instead of gas with ethanol.

Maintenance is easy after work, the saw is quickly back to working condition for the next day. I like the fact that this saw has no Autotune, not to blame it, but its simple to handle carburator techlology.

Since I run the same gas in the same height the saw runs great. (Have a Autotune saw: 545 XP Mark II, a stunning saw) I use the saw for limbing its so easy to manoever. But I also cut down smaller trees up to 3 inches in diameter of different kinds of wood.

The other saws I have (on two locations are): 395 XP – the beast 390 XPG – the small beast 460 Rancher XP II – the good old workhorse 560 XPG Mark I – the fast heavy worker 545 XP Mark II – the limbing beast 435 XP – the little one 543 XPG – the intermediate with comfort Jonsered 2234 – the baby, but a good one Old youngtiimers: 61 (made around 85) my senior saw – the best 141 (made around 90) little senior – neat little thing The engine is powerful enough for the 15 inch bar, would not put a bigger one on.

Chain to engine ratio is right.

I’ve wanted a 543XP for some time , so I finally broke down a bought one a couple months ago. I don’t know anybody that has one, so I did the online search. Watched videos and read reviews. I’m a hobbyist, so I decided to do a few simple mods before I got the saw dirty.

Three area that any hobbyist or mechanically inclined person can do. I modded the muffler. It’s pretty plugged up from the factory, and the saw reacts positively by increased cutting times and a cooler running engine.

I removed the cylinder a with various gasket thicknesses and good sealer, reduced the squish band clearance to. 018″. I removed the flywheel and filed the key to the point of approximately 7° advance in ignition timing.

The rings must be really hard, because it takes about 15 fuel loads to get them seated to the point that the saw ” wakes up “. I run a 16”. 325″ bar and chain. I switched to Oregon full chisel chain for ultimate cut aggression.

The results of these simplistic modifications is well noted. The saw starts very easily and idles, revs, and cuts good. The oiler is great. I believe it would keep up with a 24″ bar and chain. One point about the modifications is that they would be meaningless if the nucleus of a good saw were not there.

Husqvarna can’t do what I did for a multitude of reasons. Many in sure we can assume. The saw dimensions physically are small IMO. When I hold this saw in my hands, it looks little. And it feels light.

Like is supposed to be. As a retired industrial millwright/mechanic/ machinist, I give the saw an 8. 50 out if ten for overall fit and machine quality. I rated this saw a four stars because I couldn’t give it 4.

5. I’m tough on evaluating a product. Five stars from me would require a new paradigm. I feel the spring assist starter to be an unwanted expensive option. It also make the saw unnecessarily wide. To each their own, but I would like to at least see an Auto Tune option.

I’m summation, I feel Husqvarna hit it out if the park with this saw for the following reasons. It’s very light without being cheap or poorly constructed. It’s small, isn’t that what we want with a pro grade 43cc saw? And with the simple modifications I mentioned, this saw is a power house.

I’ve had the 16″ bar buried in green oak and hickory. It doesn’t whimper. I don’t recommend making such use a habit, but it does it. Compared to the competitions 43cc pro saw, IMO the 543XP is the winner, hands down.

I’m waiting for Husqvarna to introduce the new saw line this year, hoping for an upgraded 543XP, but if it remains the same, I will still buy another. They are that good!.
